What is the point to purchasing the trip insurance if you can't change the dates for your travel? I thought the insurance insures that you can change the dates with out incurring an additional fees.

Trip insurance covers different things and you have to know what your policy covers when you buy it. Usually it covers such things as changing your dates when you become ill or are injured, or a family member dies. It could also cover your medical transportation costs if you are injured or become ill in a foreign country.

I've never heard of a policy that covers a change of dates just because you want to change your dates. There are policies that cover date changes when your employer requires that you change your dates.

Your post doesn't give your reason for changing dates.

I would read the insurance document to see what it covers before buying the insurance and just assuming it covers certain things. Same as any other insurance.

Disney trip insurance (and most trip insurance) generally will reimburse you for non-recoverable costs resulting from trip cancellations and interruptions in certain circumstances, and for other specified charges, events, etc. I don't believe Disney has ever represented that the insurance would cover charges incurred from customers making voluntary changes in their arrangements. There may be some insurance coverage available for such changes (for airlines that would be a fully refundable fare), but I imagine it would be expensive and not usually worth it.

Here's a link to the Insurance Certificate for the Disney plan (http://adisneyworld.disney.go.com/media/wdw/media/reservations/insurancecertificate.pdf).
