Yes the time is here to get back into shape and not the round one I am now. I want to be 155 by the 1/2 and decrease my pace to 9:30 for the race.

Ran 3 miles today in 31:12, a 10:24 pace- OUCH!!!!!!!!!! I did not want to push since it has been 2 months since I ran maybe more since it was at Expedition Everest I ran last.Biked for 3 miles after the run too.

I hope to keep track here everyday as I had in the old journal but the puppy keeps me so busy it is crazy- my dds were easier.

Everyone who has supported me in the past here please continue it makes a huge difference to have people chiming in on my journal.I will do the same for you.

Have a great day everyone,
Linda

Wt today 168.4 ugh. I am so uncomfortable it is not funny- time to move it.

Linda:hug: my friend, good to see you again!

Sorry about the weight, I know what its like. I have been holding at 160 during my training, know that I won't be able to lose again until after my half in October.

9:30 pace, I am confident you can do it! I am trying for that for my Oct half, we will see how it goes.

I will check in on you, keep you motivated!

Hello! :wave2:

I will be doing the 1/2 also, but as a walker, so I will be waaaaaay behind you. I am aiming for 12 minutes this year. I was down to 13.5 before the 1/2 this past January, but the cold we experienced really did a number on me.

Good luck with your training. 18.5 weeks to go.:thumbsup2

Thanks Lisa and Veronica for stopping by!

Ran today 3 miles in 30:23, a 10:07 pace then biked for 3 all out.Only 2 days of moving and I feel so much better and not as tight. My hip flexors had been killing me and I feel them loosening up already.

Wt 166.2 today

Went for a dip in the pool after too and that was great- water is still so warm.

Have a great one

Hi there, I'm going to the half too but it will be my first ever and I'll be nowhere near as fast as you. If my pace is less than 16 min/mile I'll be a happy camper

It sounds like you are ready to take on your goals head on :cheer2:

Hi Lisa ran 3 miles today- 30:14, a 10:04 pace then rode my bike for 3 miles. Wt. back up to 168.2 this weekend was a bust as far as food and exercise.I started fall cleaning early and can't seem to do both- I get out of bed and start right in then don't want to run after.

Oh well today's a new day.

I hear you on the puppy thing, Linda. We got a puppy this year and training her has been quite an adventure. Our dogs were 13 and 14 years old when they passed away last year so I had forgotten how much energy puppies have and how much stuff they get into. Hey Linda-

Sorry I haven't checked in for a while-but with our trip to Cali and the DL half, I have been off track for the last week.

Glad to see your runs are going well, sorry about the weight. I gained 5 lbs:scared1: while we were away. And since I am not running this week, it is a true battle.

I promise to check in more often. I need to get my journal going again too.

3 miles today in 29:00 a 9:40 pace- I need to drop the weight I gained since June to really kick up my pace I guess- not working otherwise.

3 miles on the bike too.

Hi Linda, I am really impressed with your pace. and the fact that you walk, bike and then walk the dog. :thumbsup2 Don't even understand about the scale going the wrong way with all you do. Maybe it's broke......::yes::

momof2minnies
09-17-2010, 02:55 PM
Ha Lisa I wish I could blame it on the scale but I continually sabatoge myself by eating junk.I could write a book about eating right, losing wt and exercise but for some reason continue to do this to myself.

I eat mostly lousy when I am frustrated, bored and in front of TV as most people do.

I did run 3 miles today in 29:05, a 9:40 ish pace- I didn't check today and then walked the pup- of course she stops every 10 feet to sniff so it really is not much of a walk exercise wise.

If you feel like you have the running routine down pat but stuggle with the eatting piece have you ever thought about joining a "diet group"? I've always liked WW because I do well with the accountability of a weigh in every week. Whenever I try to do it on my own I just can't muster the disipline to stay on plan for very long. If you don't like WW maybe there is a nutritional group meeting in your area. Sometimes community centers or churches will sponser them.

I was wondering, what's your technique for working on speed. I've been thinking about adding some speed intervals into my short runs starting next week so I've been reading about all the different options. It is all totally new to me so I'm wondering what your experience has been.

Pouring buckets out there- no running today.

Elliptical x45 minutes- felt like a good workout, a little cross training today.

Lola,
I don't do speed work like I should following a training schedule, my goal is always to try to go faster than the last day I ran- sometimes it works, sometimes not.
I am 5-6 lbs heavier than I was running my fastest in the spring. It is like carrying a 5lb bag of suger with me when I run that I didn't carry in the spring.

Linda

lolakat
09-30-2010, 09:45 AM
I always liked the eliptical. I'm sure it gives you a good cross training work out.

That sounds like a simple enough plan for speed! I guess I will just try out a few different methods and see what works best for me. I am carring a lot more "sugar" than you are. :rotfl:

Lisa -my DD is a striker(both feet) and center mid.It is a tough season the team is awful and the coach brought her on to score goals but you can't do it alone- there are 10 other people out there. She is very frustrated at this point.

Music really helps to keep the mind distracted and the feet moving doesn't it? I've been looking at a local half marathon that is in a beautiful area but doesn't allow head phones. I'm not sure I could run that long without music and, of course, the constant feedback from my NikePlus.

Great job getting the miles in even if your pace wasn't quite where you want it.

Great pace on your 3 miles :thumbsup2

I have a 10 mile LR this weekend too. Is this your longest run before the 1/2? My training plan has it set up that way but the taper seems too long to me. I'm thinking about doing another long one next week, maybe 11 or 12 miles then cut back to 8 miles on the 25th and 5 miles on the 1st for the taper. But I really have no experience with this. What's your plan?

My plan calls for 10 as my LR the week before the 1/2 but I rearranged it so I am doing 10 today then 11 next week then 12 then prob 6 the week before.I find that where you stop your LRs is where you feel the wall- mostly in the full- My longest run was 18 miles because of the weather and being sick and at mile 19 oh boy I felt it.

Good luck out there this weekend.

Linda, Congrats on your time for the 11. That's a great pace. I may have missed it, but what time are you hoping for in the half?
I haven't run at Disneyworld yet, but yes, it does seem that the crowds play a major role. The good news is that they force you to run negative splits. I am planning on just taking it easy for those first miles and advancing through the crowd as the opportunities arise. Then, I'll step it up for the rest.

momof2minnies
12-21-2010, 06:54 AM
Going for 2:10 but hope to do better- I hope to make my way to the front of the corral??? Not sure if it possible but will try.The crowd kept me at a 12:00 min mile for a while-ugh, hope I can move around this year.Walkers, not all, but many were side by side all over the course instead of say staying to the right and it was hard to get through.I know in Runnersworld they have mentioned walkers and how it should be a rule- walkers on one side.

WOW 10 days to go until we arrive at OKW!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ran the full 13.1 today to prove to myself that I could pull the time I want to, even if I get stuck in the crowd at the start. This is a huge fear of mine because I have been beating my splits and did not want to let myself down at the actual race.

Ran 13.1 in 2:06:02, a 9:37 pace- my goal is a 9:30 pace.I hope the fact that it was very windy and snowing plus hills I won't have in Florida, slowed me a little.

Now we are in the middle of a blizzard- glad the LRs are over.

Hi Linda. Happy Belated Birthday to you!

Your training has been going very well and I think your pace is awesome. Yes, I would say that wind and hills slow you down a bit. I normally walk at a 13.5 mm, but Friday did 15 mm. :confused3 Then I realized that I was on a track where every 1/4 mile I walked up a very steep hill. Even though it felt like I was keeping pace, I wasn't.

I have a suggestion for the 1/2. Coming out of the shoot, lots of people (mainly men) head to the right woods line for a pit stop. :confused3 (Hello, there are portalets next to the corrals.) Anyway, maybe if you stayed on the left side of the group, there would be fewer people cutting in front of you going right. That is what I am going to try to do.

I agree that the walkers should stay to the right and not walk more than two abreast, but I don't think a lot of people understand races and the prodicol that goes along.

Hope the weather will be good for travel. We leave a week from today.

Hello friends we made it back yesterday before the storm. The weather was awesome for the race.I did the 1/2 in 2:11:46, 1:46 off my goal- that was only because I stopped for drinks(which I never do during training)because after the 5k on Friday I had a bottle of Powerade and it went through me all day Friday- I had to drink on Saturday because I was dehydrated to start.

The 5k I did in 27:52, my goal was to be in the 27s.I was a great time but I am done with the January winter races.

Now we are shoveling out of 14 inches of nasty white stuff- where are the palm trees??????????

Great job on your workouts and on your weigh-in, Linda!:cheer2:

I hope you'll stop by and post from time to time and let us know how you're doing. Are you doing the Disney marathon in 2012?

Have a wonderful day!:wizard:

Hi Tracy-no marathon weekend in 2012.The training around here at that time of the year is brutal- I have to say last year was not that bad(first snow was while we were in WDW)and then the blizzard hit the night we got home-phew,made it just in time.

No races planned.

Have a great summer

Hi Linda,

I bet the winter weather does make it hard to train for a marathon.

I can't believe how close that tornado was to your house! Thank God you and your family are okay!!!:grouphug: Did you sustain any damage to your home? The weather has been so scary across the nation this spring! :(

I am so glad that you and your family are okay!:grouphug:

Have a nice weekend and a GREAT summer ahead!:wizard:
