DCA TR for 8/27/10

As promised, I'd post photos from mine and my girlfriend's trip to DCA. We went on Friday with hopes of it not being too busy as some kids already began school and it wasn't a holiday weekend. The drive from home (Camarillo, CA) wasn't that bad. We left home at around 9:00am and arrived to the Mickey and Friends Parking Structure around 10:30am. We were able to park near the escalators to the trams so we wouldn't have that long of a walk back to the car when the day was over. :thumbsup2

We made our way back to the Hollywood Pictures Backlot and stepped in to Off the Page. Inside, we saw awesome artwork and Disney artist Brian Growe sketching some customer orders. (He's such a good artist!) After that, we walked further inside and saw some cool Toy Story things, including the Toy Story Zoetrope! :cool2: After the Toy Story section, we waited in line for the Animation Academy where we learned to draw Tigger.

After the factory, we got some real meals over at the Pacific Wharf Cafe. I ordered my favorite salad and Kristine ordered a turkey sandwich.

After the Tower of Terror, we went on over to Paradise Pier where we took a photo with Mickey and I got a FastPass for the California Screamin'. To pass up the time before the FastPass return time, we went on Toy Story Midway Mania where Kristine beat me badly in the games.:3dglasses

Time was going by so fast! We made sure we got dinner before World of Color because it was going to be a while waiting in line. We went back to Taste Pilots' Grill where I got Full Throttle Fries and Kristine and I shared a Cheeseburger. After we ate, we killed an hour on Soarin' Over California then fell in line for World of Color in Redwood Creek Challenge Trail.

Finally got to our viewing area for the 10:15pm showing of World of Color. We viewed it in the RED area and it was AMAZING! I've never seen so many colors in my life! I loved every minute of it. The soundtrack matched to the bursts of the fountains was perfect and the flames provided us a little warmth as well. I'll let the photos do the talking.:goodvibes

We had SO much fun! We'll be going to Disneyland on the 12th of September, so look out for another TR!

We were in red section for WOC last time we went with Jesus' parents. It was a nice view, higher up than everyone else. The last time we were in blue? The left hand side near Ariel's Grotto.

RED is an awesome, if not one of THE perfect spots to watch WoC in. Just like you said, you're higher up than everyone else...and you don't get as wet.:cool2:

I like sitting in the back on rides like Star Tours. Good view of everything. But on rides like Indy, I like the front...because I get to steer. :woohoo:

get it...hijack :) If you've read Mockingjay, you'll get it...So I don't mean to hijack your thread but I'd love to know what you think of the ending...I'm a middle school English teacher and my kids are gobbling it up like it was Harry Potter or Twilight. Most of my kids love the ending but I think they are missing some things...anyway...glad to see that others share my love of both Disney and awesome books like The Hunger Games!!!:banana:

As for the ending, it was really depressing to me. Maybe because it didn't go exactly the way Katniss had wanted it to. But also, I felt bad knowing all she had gone through and all the losses she had to witness. I am glad that she ended up with who she did, because I was pulling for both of them since the first book. Mockingjay was action-packed and very emotional. I think it was a good way to end the series, though. Should definitely make for a good film. Stay tuned for that! :thumbsup2
