Tatoo that is. My best friend is trying to talk me into getting a tatoo and I'm dragging my heals a bit. DH thinks it's a stupid idea but my Mom thinks it would be cool.
So... I was wondering which DISers have tatoos, what they are and where they are located - and would you do it again?
Thanks,

I have 2, both roses, one on the back of my neck, and the other on my right ankle. Yes, I'd do it again, but maybe rethink the ankle thing, that one really hurt!! I'm actually seriously considering getting one on the small of my back. :) But something other than a rose.

i have a garter going around my right thigh. it is of the moon and the stars.
to answer your question: yes, i would do it again. it hurt alot but it is something i did for me. it is something i had wanted for many years. dont do it just because your friend wants you to and your mom thinks it would be cool. these things are permanent. or at least very expensive to have removed... if your husband is against this i would think very long and hard about it.
if you decide to get one anyway, think hard about where you get it. i have mine on the upper thigh because i wanted it hidden. i didnt get it for the cool factor and it isnt for everyone to see. my bosses freaked when they heard i wanted to get a tattoo and told me that i could not get one without comprimising my position. i told them that i already had it and that if they couldnt see it, then neither can the customer!
good luck with whatever you decide.

I have a small flower on the inside of my left ankle. I wanted it for years before I actually got it, and I even wore a fake tatoo there for months to make sure I was serious. Don't get a tatoo if you don't really want one.

Okay here I am...I have Mickey and Minnie on my left upper arm....DH has the same exact one on his upper right arm. I also have Tinkerbell on one side of my belly button with a wand sprinkling Pixie Dust all the way around my belly button. On my lower back I have a tribal butterfly with 2 yellow bees...its really pretty.
The Mickey and Minnie are the only one that is visable and only is I wear a sleeveless shirt (which is most of the time:) )
I have wanted a Mickey tattoo since I was 13 years old....when I still wanted one at age 28 I figured I knew I wanted it and got it. And I would do it again in a heartbeat....have never regretted having it done.

not yet..but I want to get a small one..when im out of the house lol...mhopset..thats the funniest thing Ive ever heard..at first I was like mom? what..lol then i got it and cracked up..nice one.
Hey Beauty, I was wondering if you'd find this thread! I don't have one, but am considering getting one. DH is concerned about seeing it when I get dressed up. I want the Broadway logo for Beauty and Beast (Black beast outline holding a rose) on my shoulder. Stephen would rather I get it on my lower back, but I never show my lower back so no one would see it. So, now I have to figure out where I can get it that will look nice when I dress up in something strappy.
I have a band of daisies around my right ankle and a cross on my left inner calf. Yes, I would (will) do it again.

As an artist, I've been asked to design tattoos for people, but I've never had the nerve to get one myself. DH has one, that I designed, that he regrets getting. Its a nice looking tattoo though, a dragon.
Be sure you check out the tattoo artist before you have it done, I have seen some sorry looking tattoos over the years.

I have a purple peace sign with a rose running through it on the inside of my right ankle and the planet Earth, with a tree on it and people holding hands kinda floating off into space with the words.... Take nothing but memories, leave nothing but foot prints........ on my left shoulder.
Does anyone know the difference between a tattooed person and a non tattooed person?????????
A tattooed person doesnt care if your not tattooed.... :teeth:

Both of them sound very cool. I'd love to see a picture of those tattoos, very creative ideas.
I'd get one , but my wife would then terminate me with extreme prejudice, and I'd never get a chance to enjoy it, so why bother??????

So, Mrs. EROS supports the DEATH PENALTY for tatoos????:p :p :p
Only a few natural tatoos for me (various moles, scars, etc.)
By the way, my almost 80 year old MOM wants a tatoo!! Actually, she has very faint eyebrows, which she has been heavily penciling for the last, oh, 50 years or so. Well, as she has gotten up there in age, her hands are not as steady as they used to be, and sometimes the eyebrows come out, well, a bit lopsided. She thought it would be great if they were permanently tatooed on, so that she could avoid that.

I have a daisy on the outside of my right ankle, a vine and daisy anklet on my left, and a sun with a crescent moon inside it on my left thigh.
I got my first one in high school, and I was just hooked! My mom, step dad and I all have the sun/moon tattoo, it's kind of a family thing.
Deb, I can't imagine getting my face tattooed, but I think that's a great idea for your mom! I remember hearing about women getting eyeliner tattooed on a few years ago. Anyone else heard of that?

None for me either I'm afraid.................never liked them on guys, but have heard of some really nice ones on ladies recently. Now that I have read this thread I now realise that there are lots more nice ones out there.
Don't know that I could actually go through with getting one myself tho...

None for me either. But my sister and neice have tattos. My sister has a hummingbird and flower on her right shoulder blade and a vine with hearts around her ankle and my neice has a leo (because she was born in August on her shoulder blade.
I believe it is truly a personal decision and agree that you shouldn't let anyone talk you into it if you don't want it. But if you do want it, then go for it. Tatoos are permanant, you have to remember what you have now you will still have when youa re 80 years old. I have entertained the notion of getting one, but I am a weinney, I don't like pain, if I ever did decide (which I doubt I will) I would want it someplace private and just for me.

I have two. The first one I got is a small Japenese symbol on my upper left arm. I was testing myself to see if I could handle it so I could come back later and get what I really wanted...a unicorn on my left ankle! She's so pretty. She has golden hair, pretty blue eyes and a red rose in her mouth. Sometimes I just stare at her (and yes it's a her!) and think about how pretty she is. I also got mine in high school, but I'm looking foward to getting another tattoo...I just need the money! I'd like to try to put a crown with the word "Princess" underneath somewhere and I want to cover up my first tattoo with something else...I'm leaning toward butterfly.

I have a small pair of Harley Davidson wings on my right hip. Yes that's right, 'lil 'ol Figgie used to ride a Harley back in her youth.
Long story as to why I got the tatoo, but it's 25 years old and the colors have faded out. I'd like to get it re-colored someday.

I have been out researching my possible tatoo project. I went and visited both tatoo parlors in town and was pleasantly surprised with one of them. The owner is in his mid-50's and his wife and daughter help to run the business. Very professional, very clean and the owner was willing to answer and and all questions that I had. I had never seen anyone get a tatoo, so he invited me to stay and watch him perform his art, (with permission of the person he was tatooing of course). I was totally amazed with the entire process. This gentleman has received national awards for his work and I would feel very comfortable with having a tatoo done by him - that is, if I decide to get one. I have entertained the possibility of getting a tatoo for over 20 years and have always chickened out. My friend who is getting one, has just been the catalyst to get me moving again. DH is still opposed to the idea and says, "we are not tatoo people". Whatever that means.
Thanks for all of your imput and I'll keep you posted on whether or not I go through with it.
