HELLO WORLD!!!

Yes, that was a nerdy greeting for you nerds out there. I would call myself more of a geek.

:welcome: to my first TR ever! :cool1:

I'm Yuki and my trip was from Aug.17-Aug.24th. Some of the HOTTEST DAYS OF THE YEAR in Florida. Woohoo!

I had a couple of contenders for my TR title. I've decided to just use them as chapter titles. I settled on this one because a) It got 3 votes in my PTR, and that's enough for me and b) I learned a LOOOT of lessons during this trip. That's pretty much the theme of my trip.

We had a lot of laughs, a lot of fun, a lot of food, and surprisingly little tears. I overblew my budget on the 3rd day, and Andrew fell in love with the Earl. I got drunk at Epcot and we went on ToT 7 times! We had an incredible time with LOTS of pictures and about 2 hours of video footage taken by moi. I would be honoured if you would join me as I relive my adventures.

WARNING: I deviate a LOT during my chapters. So be prepared for me to go off-topic often. I also have many side-stories to tell along with my TR. I hope you know what you're getting yourself into.

Some vital deets:
Who: ME (Yuki) and DBF (Andrew)
When: August 17 - August 24, 2010 (that's 8 days if you're counting)
Where: Pop Century!!!
Why: Do I really need a reason? Actually, yes I did.
Why cont'd: We celebrated our 3rd anniversary, his 22nd birthday, and his graduation from Queen's University's Engineering

Alright, let's get this party STARTED!!!

Chapter 1. More about the cast and trip

Don't worry, the chapter titles only get more clever.

The Cast
So on this trip, there were a cast of 2 FABULOUS characters. Ok, only one of us was fabulous, and he worked it!

We are two Canadians originating from Toronto originating from China and Taiwan (which are pretty much the same but they get pretty testy about it....).

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v452/YukiPhnx/events%20and%20vacations/WDW%202010/hsday.png

This is me in my awesome Minnie Mouse sunglasses (bought from Walmart, not actually officially Disney)
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v452/YukiPhnx/events%20and%20vacations/WDW%202010/DSC00080.jpg

I'm a Social Development Studies Major with a minor in Psychology at the University of Waterloo. I'm a big geek of many things, including Disney of course. Some of them are anime, gaming, cosplay, Munchkins and uh.....ya, more geeky stuff. Kudos if you got that last one!

I was the "planned everything for this trip" person. I've never booked a flight, bought park tickets, connected with 2 different airlines, or arranged travel insurance EVER. So along with a lot of firsts for me, I also learned a LOT of lessons. Hopefully, this will all make for an even BETTER trip next time!

This is Andrew, in the DME line waiting to go to POP. He held the camera, so there aren't a lot of photos of him.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v452/YukiPhnx/events%20and%20vacations/WDW%202010/DSC00037.jpg

He had just graduated from the Engineering program at Queen's University at the time of our trip. He is now currently working as a business consultant in Toronto.

He was initially not so keen on this trip. It was all really my idea. He didn't give me much to work with when I planned it, so I tried my best to keep him in mind in my plans.

Luckily for me, he really enjoyed himself! He appreciated a lot of the programming and background works that go behind the rides. He also really appreciated all the planning I did for this trip. He loved that he never really had to make a decision. Yay for my obsessive planning! :cool1:

The trip
3 is a pretty big number for me. It may not actually BE a very big number, but it's my favourite number. Why's that? I'm not really sure....But let's ponder that another time.

A trip to WDW is pretty pricey, especially for students. Coming from Canada too! So we needed more than the simple reason of just wanting to go, to actually get our butts there.

Reason number 1: This September is our 3rd anniversary. Again, 3's a big number for me, so it was definitely worth celebrating.

Reason number 2: It's Andrew's birthday! I knew I wanted an August trip, but it also had to be after my exams. Luckily, they ended about 2 weeks before his birthday, so we were able to be at WDW for his actual birthday! Funny story about that later.

Reason number 3: Andrew's graduation! Yups......I needed a 3rd reason to top it off....and there it is! :thumbsup2

Chapter 2. Day 1 pt. 1-Oooh, AMERICAN restaurants!

Or alternatively, "I wonder if we'll see a Sonic???"

Oooor, "What? They have whole terminals for airlines here???"

Our first day started bright and TOO EARLY when we woke up at 5am on Aug.17th. Andrew slept over the night before so we didn't have to go pick him up on our way to the airport, even though his place is actually on our way.

I use the words "slept over" loosely, because 5am is part of MY "night". It was more like....we took a 4-5 hour nap. Well, he did. I probably slept about...2-3 hours before my cell-phone alarm woke me up. I mean, who could SLEEP when you're about to leave to go to Disney IN A FEW HOURS.

Of course, It felt like I had just shut my eyes before I had to wake up again. Was I tired due to lack of sleep? Are you kidding me? I hopped up, brushed up, dressed up (or down, whatever floats your boat), and woke Andrew up. WE'RE GOING TO DISNEY.

I woke my Dad up too, cause he was driving us there. I planned to be out the apartment by 5:30am. I took a look at the watch I specifically bought for Disney. 5:25am! SCORE! So far so good.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v452/YukiPhnx/events%20and%20vacations/WDW%202010/DSC00022.jpg
(not the actual time, this was taken later of course)

Ok, story about the watch. I HATE wearing things on my wrists. Watches, bracelets.....um....other stuff.....The main reason is because my wrists are too small to wear that stuff. I can only wear children's watches, and bracelets? I don't even bother. They always find their way off my wrists.

So WHY buy a watch JUST for this trip? Well, before my last trip, my dad bought me a pretty cool looking green watch (green is my favourite colour, btw), that actually fit pretty well on my wrist. So I decided to give it a try, since he got it for me. I wore it all during the trip and it didn't bother me much at all! By the end of the trip, I thought my annoyance with wearing watches had worn off. But as soon as I got off that plane in Toronto, the watch came off. I guess it was only ok in Disney. That makes sense, right?

So, knowing this, and knowing how often I will be checking the time and what a hassle it will be to pull out my cell-phone that often, I decided to invest in a watch. A children's watch. On the innermost notch. And STILL a little loose! Bought from Walmart.

So...where was I...oh yes! Arriving at the airport! We arrived with plenty of time to spare, and checked in at one of the express kiosks. I can't imagine why anyone would want to line up, when it's so simple to use those kiosks! You only need to know some very simple information.

Alright, so lesson number 1 is learned here. Book all the flights of the same party, under one reservation! We had to go through the whole process at the kiosk twice, when it should only take one time. It also pretty much guarantees that your party will be sitting together. More about that on the return flight.

So why did I book separately? Well.......I'm not sure I remember.....

Going through US customs was pretty routine. The officer last time was so much cooler though. He smiled and was excited for us that we were going to Disney! Since it was just my 17yr old self with my younger siblings flying by ourselves for the first time, it helped us A LOT. Thank you officer I cannot remember the name of!

While waiting to board, we nom-ed on the taro buns I bought and bought a surprisingly reasonably priced airport coffee. Andrew jacked into the airport wi-fi and I uploaded a shot from my cell-phone onto my PTR!

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v452/YukiPhnx/SSPX0168.jpg

It was pretty cool watching the kids on the same flight as us. Even though we had a connecting flight in Chicago, it was obvious some of them would be going to Disney too. There were two brothers, about 4 and 7 yrs old, playing around with Buzz and Woody dolls! It was SOOO cute to watch them play. We tried to take a picture, but they were moving around too much.

On take-off, I reminded Andrew of a Familly Guy joke. Where Peter puts on a virtual reality helmet and says, "I'm flying! I'm flying!", then it shows you what he sees, and he's sitting on a plane with a menu in his hand, deciding what to get.

We're on a boat, I mean plane!
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v452/YukiPhnx/events%20and%20vacations/WDW%202010/DSC00006.jpg

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v452/YukiPhnx/events%20and%20vacations/WDW%202010/DSC00007.jpg

Oh yes, I'm also a huge TV, cartoons and internet meme fan. I will be making references. Don't worry, I'll try to remember to mention where they're from. If you're lucky.

So after the plane settles, the flight attendant comes by and asks us what we would like to drink. We ask for ginger ale and get THIS.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v452/YukiPhnx/events%20and%20vacations/WDW%202010/DSC00026.jpg

Seagram???

Woooaaah.....It must be an American thing. Of course, since the ginger ale we're used to is Canada Dry. It figures we'd be offered an American brand on American Airlines. It wasn't bad. I don't drink ginger ale enough to know if there was a difference.

So after landing in Chicago O'Hare airport, we discover the time is 11:30am? Shouldn't be 10:30am? I just learned that Chicago is in a different time zone. What???? I had no idea!!! So that was a shocker, and I had to think about the current time whenever I looked at my watch.

After we get out of the gate, we look on that big board with the flight numbers and gates of departing flights, and we can't find ours. What's going on? We look around and I realize I can only see American Airline posters everywhere. We go up to a boarding desk and ask for United Airlines. They pointed us in the right direction and off we went!

We stopped and asked more people for the direction, finding out that the bigger airlines have their own terminals! I had no idea Chicago O'Hare was THIS huge.

We also passed by a Johnny Rockets and a Chili's express. American restaurants we don't get in Canada! I videotaped them, no lie. Yes, I'm that touristy. Then Andrew said, "Oh! Maybe they have a Sonics here!". They didn't, but I would SO have bought a drink. We see commercials for them all the time. My favourite is the guy and the "cheap date" he was describing

They had a couple of Garrett's too. I heard they make the BEST popcorn. I'll have to try it the next time I'm at that airport. I hear the one in the city is swamped ALL THE TIME. I was also surprised to see a Wolfgang Puck Express! After seeing it, I remembered reading about it on someone's TR. I videotaped this place, but realized that only -I- would get it. Oops, my bad family (the only other people interested in watching it).

Up next: Pepperoni pretzels?? OMG, we're finally at Disney!!

Your watch is adorable!!!

You two look excited in your pics! :cutie:

I just love flying to Disney the plane always seems to get there in a short amount of time but on the way back it feels like it takes forever! :confused3

Haha, even though it says Disney on the watch, the most "Disney" thing about it is the name! I wanted a Fairies watch, but they only had digital ones. I wanted an analog.

Yeeeah, time just flew on our way there. Probably cause I was excited the whole time! The bus ride from MCO to my resort didn't feel that long either.

My film is on those mini tapes......I have yet to figure out how to digitize them.....I WILL be putting up some videos Andrew took with his digicam though.

:rotfl: for being excited about restaurants, although I will admit I freaked out when I found a Sonic too... I had heard about their fantastic sweet tea.

Sounds like the trip down was good - I was worried you were going to say you missed your connecting flight in Chicago because of the hour change or something.

I wanted to catch up before I checked in, so I'm glad I did! Now I have to go catch a cab... update it before I get online in my new apartment!!!! :)

Good update Yuki :thumbsup2

Haha, thanks

I can just feel your excitement. Can't wait for you to really get there.

Man, I was jumping around! :yay: On the inside of course. Didn't want to creepy anybody out. ;)

American airports sure are a nice change from sucky Pearson! ;) I get excited when I see the restaurants and mini-malls in the airports too since up here we are lucky when we get a Tim Hortons!

Why is the Tim Hortons on the OTHER side of the glass door? What is that? I think this time I was able to go through it....but the last couple of times, we were kept from it. Why???? I already thought Pearson was big, but Chicago blew my mind away.

What??? Update before you get online? Gambarimasu~! No promises though :rolleyes1

Haha, I'm glad we had time. Initially, I thought we had 2 hrs between connecting, but because of the time change, we had at least one hour. Took us about 10 mins to get to the right terminal though. It's HUUUUUGE!!!!

Woohoo! So exciting to read your TR!! I already have a bunch of stuff that I want to respond to, but will probably have to do it when I get back. (Love Sonic, BTW, and yes, there are barely any in my area. Garrett popcorn is sooo good. You must get the cheese/caramel "mix". It's the only reason to eat that many calories. LOL) :lovestruc

Still waiting to see what the deal is with Hurricane Earl. So far no flights are cancelled or delayed. It's hot and sunny in NYC right now, but come Friday, we're expecting rain and wind. Wish they would just allow us to change flights already! It's so silly for them to wait until the last minute just to see thousands of passengers stranded at the airport. Ugh.

Looks like we'll be working on our TRs at the same time as well. Love it!
Can't wait to hear more!

Hey Su! So many of us are writing our TRs right now

I hope that hurricane doesn't affect your flight out of NYC. It really IS stupid to make passengers wait. You'd think airlines would've learned from past storms.

I'm really excited to see your PICTURES! What's the name of the tripod you're bringing?

Chapter 3a. Day 1 pt.2-I'm all fired up!

On our way to the United terminal, we go through this underground-looking tunnel with a moving sidewalk that looked VERY cool.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v452/YukiPhnx/events%20and%20vacations/WDW%202010/DSC00014.jpg
The lights were changing and looked like a wave of colours that went back and forth.

After about 10 minutes of walking, we finally reach the corridor with our gate. We were pretty hungry by then, so looked around for some food. We found this mini food court with a pizza place and a Manchu Wok. The prices for food were ridiculous! A small personal pizza the size of my palm, was $8+!

We walked around some more and found a pretzel place, Auntie Anne's. You know what? I wish she was MY aunt! She sure knows how to make pretzels! We bought a pepperoni pretzel for each of us. They were bigger than the personal pizzas, and were at half the price!

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v452/YukiPhnx/events%20and%20vacations/WDW%202010/DSC00018.jpg
If you look at the necklace I'm wearing...you'll notice that it's a white star with a Mickey in the middle! It's a Swarovski pendant my mom gave to me as a gift. The other side of the pendant is the crystals, but it's easier to spot the Mickey this way. You'll be able to see it more clear in some of my future pictures. I'm wearing it as I type this!

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v452/YukiPhnx/events%20and%20vacations/WDW%202010/DSC00023.jpg

They're HUUUGE!!! And delicious!!! Nom nom nom.

We had never seen a pretzel like that. Not just the size, but the type. Up here, we only get dessert pretzels, and not meal-type ones, so it was very refreshing. We get plain pretzels too, but they're not so popular. Random fact: I :lovestruc pretzels.

After finishing our food, I remembered that I wanted to take pictures of my travel mate to show you guys. I named her Shelly.

The front, with my LGMH! It's so smaaaall.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v452/YukiPhnx/events%20and%20vacations/WDW%202010/DSC00019.jpg

The side, with a Stitch croissant Andrew bought me in Taiwan!! It actually smells like bread too. The Minnie Mouse was given by a housemate of mine.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v452/YukiPhnx/events%20and%20vacations/WDW%202010/DSC00020.jpg

The OTHER side, with another Stitch strap Andrew bought me. He actually bought me the whole set in the series!
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v452/YukiPhnx/events%20and%20vacations/WDW%202010/DSC00021.jpg

I gotta say, I really liked carrying Shelly. I could wear her about 3 ways, depending on what I felt like. My notebook, wallet, video cam you saw in the 1st picture, and all other little things I carried on my body fit comfortably in her.

Here's a photo of my carry-on bag!
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v452/YukiPhnx/events%20and%20vacations/WDW%202010/DSC00024.jpg

And this is the shirt I chose to wear. Some people stopped to ask me what I was "all fired up" about. I happily told them, "DISNEY WORLD!!! :cool1:"
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v452/YukiPhnx/events%20and%20vacations/WDW%202010/DSC00025.jpg

The flight to MCO was the longer of the connecting flights, but it sure didn't feel like it. They had tv shows on the monitors. Some of what we watched were Big Bang Theory (WOOHOO!), Parenthood, and . . . I think we were landing at MCO around this time. :cool1:

On our way to the mini-monorail ride, Andrew saw his first pay-email machine.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v452/YukiPhnx/events%20and%20vacations/WDW%202010/DSC00027.jpg

We were both appalled by the prices :scared1:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v452/YukiPhnx/events%20and%20vacations/WDW%202010/DSC00028.jpg

Taken on the monorail. I grabbed the front of course.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v452/YukiPhnx/events%20and%20vacations/WDW%202010/DSC00029.jpg

Ahh, the Asian peace sign. I think I only did it....twice this trip.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v452/YukiPhnx/events%20and%20vacations/WDW%202010/DSC00030.jpg

So we get to the main terminal, and have a heck of a time finding the DME. This is my 2nd time in MCO, and first time staying at a Disney resort. It takes us a while to figure out, "hey, we're still on the 2nd floor." DME, is on the 1st floor!

Once we get there though, I see signs for DME, but I don't see it anywhere! :confused:We see some families heading in one direction, so we take a chance and followed them.

We found it! :worship:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v452/YukiPhnx/events%20and%20vacations/WDW%202010/DSC00035.jpg

Our line!
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v452/YukiPhnx/events%20and%20vacations/WDW%202010/DSC00036.jpg

I should remind you guys that Andrew is the one that held the camera for the majority of our trip. Naturally, I wanted to take lot of pictures for this TR. But even without me asking him to, he took lots of pictures anyways! I guess he's more shutter happy than I thought he was. I was the one with my hand on my vidcam, Jerry. I was more than pleased with his picture taking.

Still need more pictures though. :upsidedow

Chapter 3b. Day 1 pt.2-Look, it's our hotel! Take pictures of the sign!

When it's finally our turn to head out to the busses, we see this!

Unfortunately, we get this Mears bus.

I tried to get the whole name of the bus into one picture, but I fail cause I'm too close.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v452/YukiPhnx/events%20and%20vacations/WDW%202010/DSC00044.jpg

The weather was beautiful, by the way. Absolutely gorgeous. It's so much more superior than the Toronto and Waterloo weather I'm used to. Here's a shot from the bus.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v452/YukiPhnx/events%20and%20vacations/WDW%202010/DSC00045.jpg

I could get used to THIS. And I have. I WANT TO GO BACK!!!

So, we pass by the WDW sign. What? No pictures???

Well...we tried to take pictures, but it came out too blurry. :sad2: I must be the only TR without a photo of that sign (other than the ones that take a "back" entrance).

But we got to see this!
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v452/YukiPhnx/events%20and%20vacations/WDW%202010/DSC00050.jpg

Closer...
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v452/YukiPhnx/events%20and%20vacations/WDW%202010/DSC00051.jpg

The gate...
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v452/YukiPhnx/events%20and%20vacations/WDW%202010/DSC00054.jpg

The headquarters of Auntie Anne's is just up the road from me, about 20 miles, Yuki. They are good!

So your bag is named Shelly, and did I read that you named the videocamera Jerry? You crack me up!

Hey, get fired up, would ya? You're going to Disney World!

We live right down the street from a Sonic. They are awesome, but I hardly ever eat there because it's not good for my thighs. :lmao:

I'm not real good at remembering names so I'm afraid it'd be an awkward situation when I forgot my laptop sleeve's name and kept saying "hey you...how're you?" And then my laptop would ask me why I didn't introduce it to the sleeve....with an accusatory "You don't remember its name, do you?!"

Yeah, that wouldn't be good.

YUKI!!!!!!! I have finally arrived at this amazing TR. Loving it of course!! You and Andrew are just too cute and I can not believe how much food you guys do not have in Canada. Sonic is amazing, like, I can not even describe to you. Their slushies... ok, I may have to go out and get one right now. And they are the only fast food restaurant that serves breakfast all day which is necessary because McDonald's somehow has not yet recognized my need for a Sausage McMuffin (no egg) in the middle of the night. Sigh.

I think my favorite part of the whole thing is your Stitch croissant keychain. I'm just in love with it. And the hamburger one too. Oh, Stitchy.

And yay.. POP CENTURY!!!!!! My home away from home....sigh. What I wouldn't give to be walking through those doors right now! Having the smell hit me...shopping at Everything Pop... filling up my refillable mug... ok I may cry.

:lmao: It does look like a really nice hotel! I have a friend who stayed there for a hockey tournament (which I thought it was weird to have it in Florida, but whatever :rotfl2:) and he said it was great!

Hockey......:lmao::lmao::lmao: In Florida????? THAT'S SO WEIRD!

Ok, so you guys know that I plan to go to Niagara Falls this weekend with Andrew for our actual anniversary. Before I get to my next update, I just need to get some stuff sorted out. Welcome to my mini-PTR?

So we're going Sunday. That's tomorrow. So far, we've decided to get the Fun pass on Clifton Hill. 6 attractions that includes a ride on the giant ferris wheel, the wax museum, mini golf, and so on.

We've also decided to hop across the Rainbow Bridge to visit our American neighbours. Or should I type "neighbors". :flower3:

Our main objective? Find a Top Market and buy a bottle of Gulden's spicy brown mustard. I don't want to get into this part too much cause it's a part of my Day 2. You'll all find out soon enough. I hope :upsidedow

Last of our planning, booking a room. This trip is pretty last minute, and we're only looking for a place to stay cause I don't want to drive home late at night after a day at the Falls. So I still need to find a cheap place.

What else? Oh yes, DIRECTIONS! This is my first time driving across the border without my parents. I need to know where to go! Cross your fingers that I won't get lost. Man, there REALLY needs to be an emoticon for crossing fingers.

Ok, soon as I get all this sorted out, I'll have another update up! Stay tuned!

Yeah, it's a really last minute 2 day trip. I've been meaning to get to the Falls this summer, so this is it!

I found a 1 star motel for $40 a night.....I sure hope it isn't TOO sketchy...

My mom bought it at a Swarovski retailer in Markham. I really love it, I wear it all the time!

Maybe you should look for some when you make a run for the border.

Chapter 4a. Day 1 pt. 3-This hotel has a giant yoyos? Awesome!

Before we check in, let's start off the chapter with a lesson shall we? Lesson number 2, do not wear a black t-shirt on an August day in Florida. I learned this soon after stepping off the DME bus and into that heat. As cute as my shirt was, I should have packed a tank top in my carry-on. Obviously, it wasn't the best idea. I was constantly reminded of this the rest of the day. Read on to find out why.

I awed and oohed as I stepped into Classic Hall. There was also a lot of "Oh My Gosh!Oh My Gosh!Oh My Gosh! WE'RE HERE! WE'RE HERE!" :worship::worship::goodvibes:goodvibes

Checking in, we had a CM with a hefty speech impediment. It was pretty difficult trying to understand what he was asking me. I had to ask him to repeat himself a couple of times.

Some bad news turned good. We found out we had booked a preferred room when I thought we had a standard room. The good news is, with my requests for the 70's building, 2nd floor with a lake view, they were able to grant it with a standard room.

So...if that was hard to follow along with, essentially, I got my room requests AND saved $15/night on my room! :cool1:

Me and the welcome package. I think I must've blinked because I was for sure more excited than this photo says.

I remember thinking that Classic Hall was smaller than I thought.

Let's go to the room.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v452/YukiPhnx/events%20and%20vacations/WDW%202010/DSC00059.jpg

Our room was in building 6, right behind this. :thumbsup2
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v452/YukiPhnx/events%20and%20vacations/WDW%202010/DSC00069.jpg

Our room number!

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v452/YukiPhnx/events%20and%20vacations/WDW%202010/DSC00064.jpg

Our room was in SUCH a great location. 2nd floor, so we could take the stairs without waiting for the elevator, and right around the corner from the stairs. I think I might request rooms in the same area for my next stay here. And yes, I WILL be coming back. There's no question about that.

Oh yes, before I continue, I have to show y'all the BEST WALLET EVER that Andrew bought me in Taiwan.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v452/YukiPhnx/events%20and%20vacations/WDW%202010/DSC00065.jpg

The eyes are poofy! Here's the back. It's got 626 on it!

The insides.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v452/YukiPhnx/events%20and%20vacations/WDW%202010/DSC00067.jpg
Ugh, I look terrible in my driver's license. But don't we all?

This is the day bag I packed for Andrew. I made him his own LGMH.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v452/YukiPhnx/events%20and%20vacations/WDW%202010/DSC00068.jpg

This bag actually comes with a story. Most of my stuff do. Just ask! So anyways, way back in the planning stages, I was thinking of getting a "Canada" or "Toronto" shirt to wear at Disney. Just to show some Canadian pride, you know?

Then one day, shopping around, I came across this bag in the Roots store. Roots is basically the Canada brand. Their products are usually pricier cause well....um....made in Canada and all that....Moving on. They were selling this awesome backpack for $16!!! :scared1: I had to grab it. It had all the right pockets, and two bottle holders on the side. It also has Canada right down the front of it!

So I got to thinking. Why wear one shirt to show our pride on ONE day, when we can have it ALL days!!

Our plan after we settled in for a bit, was to go to Epcot for food and EMH. So after re-packing Shelly for the park, putting in my contacts, and putting our passports in the safe, we headed out to buy our refillable mug.

Here are some shots on our way back to Classic Hall.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v452/YukiPhnx/events%20and%20vacations/WDW%202010/DSC00070.jpg
Andrew had to kick the ball. Unfortunately, no pictures from that hilarious encounter (he was wearing open toed sandals. not so smart.)

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v452/YukiPhnx/events%20and%20vacations/WDW%202010/DSC00072.jpg
I REALLY wanted to play this. But it's not much of a game with just 2 people. It's a must do when I bring my sibs and cousins here in 2013 for sures.

Squirt pool! Is that what they're called? Water squirts up from the ground. I couldn't resist playing in here for a minute. The water is really warm!

Chapter 4b. Day 1 pt.4- Oh snap, the mom is looking our way!

Ahh, we are finally in the queue for the Epcot bus, with our refillable mug and my MICKEY CRAZY STRAW filled with POWERADE.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v452/YukiPhnx/events%20and%20vacations/WDW%202010/DSC00080.jpg

Ok, here comes another story, first about the straw, then about the powerade.

So, on my last trip to WDW, one of the few things I was serious about getting was a crazy straw. I didn't care what kind or colour. I just wanted a straw twisted in a crazy fashion. UNFORTUNATELY, I couldn't find any! :confused3 So when I saw this straw at check-out, I grabbed it and bought it, without even thinking.

What's the story with Powerade? Wow....you cannot believe how excited Andrew and I got when we saw it at the dispenser. For no other reason that, YOU GUYS GET POWERADE IN DISPENSERS????? We never get this stuff. We can buy them in bottles. But from all you can drink dispensers? It's like....nonexistent. It's also a part of our childhood. It's been YEARS since any of us drank the stuff. Mmmmmm, blue raspberry. So cold and so HYDRATING.

Right next to it was Fanta orange. I geeked a little on that too cause we don't get it in Canada. We only VERY RECENTLY started getting Fanta. And even more recently, got Fanta tangerine. It's no orange though. I got some of that when we got back from Epcot.

Next up, we have THIS photo.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v452/YukiPhnx/events%20and%20vacations/WDW%202010/DSC00082.jpg

What's so special about this photo? Other than the mother in it that must be thinking, "Why are those creepy Asians taking a picture of us?"

Well, see that Mickey hat on the little kid there? That's the first one we saw so far! 20 mins in Disney and THIS is our first encounter? Weird, right? So Andrew took a picture.

Up next: Finally at Epcot!

YAY!! Checking into Pop!!!! WHY AM I NOT THERE RIGHT NOW?? I love it there so much. It's so awesome that you got to be right behind the big Mickey phone. I stayed in the 70's once too. Our first stay was in the 60's and I think that may be the best. On our last trip there we were in the 50's, and it was really quiet and nice over there... so maybe that's the best?! All I know is wherever we are at the POP I am happier than I am anywhere else!!

Ok, does Andrew have a brother? I need a boyfriend who buys me Stitch things!! Preferably in Taiwan because they seem to have the coolest Stitch items, but you know, anywhere is fine.

I still think we don't have enough pictures of us together. That was one of my worries too. We had some problems with our camera, which I will learn of soon in the TR. If it weren't for that, we would've asked people to take pictures of us more often.

60's is the closest to Classic Hall. I think I may try for the 80's next time maybe? Andrew expressed some interest in swimming in the computer pool. I'm here! I always get excited when I find another Chinese person on DIS. Plus, I have cousins in Canada and DFi has family in Canada too! Can't wait to see the fun you have in the parks!

Hey Rachel! Yes, I get excited to see another Chinese person here too! Why aren't there more of us???? I mean, there isn't even enough of us at WDW for Disney to have signs in Chinese. I'm surprised at how much Japanese are there though.

Chapter 5a. Day 1 pt.4- When I look the animatronics in the eyes, it's as if they're saying "Help me!" or "You're next!"

Yes, Andrew actually said that. Let me back up and tell you the story of how that came to be.

So, our bus ride to Epcot was uneventful. If it wasn't, then I probably just forgot to write about it. By this point though, I was whipping out my trip notebook every time I sat down to jot things down. I was getting the hang of this TR note-taking thing! :thumbsup2

Ahh, Spaceship Earth on our walk from the bus stop.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v452/YukiPhnx/events%20and%20vacations/WDW%202010/DSC00085.jpg

See how excited I am???
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v452/YukiPhnx/events%20and%20vacations/WDW%202010/DSC00086.jpg

After our first bag check, we were finally in!!! OMG OMG OMG! We got to Epcot by 5:30pm. Not so bad. My plans for the rest of the day were to eat at Sunshine Seasons, look around Innoventions East and West for a bit, go to DTD for dinner during Illuminations, then return for evening EMH.

Let's see how closely THAT was followed. Let me give you a hint. It wasn't :sad2: But let's not get ahead of ourselves, shall we? (grammatically, the syntax is off there, isn't it?)

Andrew is overwhelmed by his first glimpse of a park in 16 years!
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v452/YukiPhnx/events%20and%20vacations/WDW%202010/DSC00089.jpg

He's also really intrigued by these.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v452/YukiPhnx/events%20and%20vacations/WDW%202010/DSC00090.jpg
I think they're really cool too.

So, even though my plan was to get food first, we weren't starving or anything, so we decided to head onto..
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v452/YukiPhnx/events%20and%20vacations/WDW%202010/DSC00091.jpg
I knew the line for this ride is never long. And I was right! We walked right into our ride vehicle.

Andrew REALLY enjoyed this ride! I think it was at this point that he was starting to "get" Disney :cool1: He loves how smoothly the animatronics were moving. He said, "They're moving as if they're real people, but when I look them in the eyes, I can see they're not real. But even then, it's as if they're saying "Help me!" or "You're next!" :lmao: :rotfl2: He's a keeper, amirite?

Oh yes, let's not forget those pictures of the "future" we chose.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v452/YukiPhnx/events%20and%20vacations/WDW%202010/DSC00097.jpg

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: I crack myself up, I really do. This also becomes a theme in our ride photos. A SILLY theme!!

We were starting to get a bit hungry, so headed over to
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v452/YukiPhnx/events%20and%20vacations/WDW%202010/DSC00100.jpg
(so many strollers!)

for
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v452/YukiPhnx/events%20and%20vacations/WDW%202010/DSC00101.jpg

While deciding what to get, Andrew took this photo of the drinks.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v452/YukiPhnx/events%20and%20vacations/WDW%202010/DSC00102.jpg
He wanted to show a bottle was a whopping $6!! :scared1: Might as well pay that price for better drinks in World Showcase

We got one order of the Quarter Chicken with mashed tators and rice to share.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v452/YukiPhnx/events%20and%20vacations/WDW%202010/DSC00103.jpg

The chicken was a bit dry, so we grabbed some bbq sauce to go with it. HOLD UP. You guys have BBQ sauce dispensers??? Our McDonalds got rid of it YEARS ago, and it was the only fast food place that had it to begin with. I'm really amazed at all the condiments Disney had. Just made their food so much better.

We mixed the bbq sauce with a hot sauce, and it was YUMM-O! The rice was a good choice, and the mashed tators are the best I've ever had outside of a sit down restaurant.

Cont'd in next post.

Chapter 5b. Day 1 pt.4- Those alligators are SOOOO cute.

I had initially planned to explore Innoventions East and West, but decided to go on
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v452/YukiPhnx/events%20and%20vacations/WDW%202010/DSC00111.jpg
since it was practically a walk-on.

We got to sit in the front row of the 2nd boat, so got some pretty nice pictures. This is 1 of 2 rides were Andrew asks me if we'll get wet and I say no. But sitting at the front, we got wet in the rainforest scene.
My bad, Andrew.

Here are some of the photos he took.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v452/YukiPhnx/events%20and%20vacations/WDW%202010/DSC00104.jpg
I love reptiles! They were moving around a lot here. I thought they were SOOO CUUUTE!!

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v452/YukiPhnx/events%20and%20vacations/WDW%202010/DSC00109.jpg

When we got the fish farm section, I said, "Oooh, they look so yummy." Andrew laughed and said, "Only a Chinese person would say that." That's so true. But they DID look yummy! I love fish.

So what's next? On to Mousegears to buy a folder for all the pressed pennies I'll be getting! For some reason, I forgot to take a picture of it, but it's purple with Tink on the cover. I was surprised at how many pennies it can hold! Definitely worth the purchase.

Even though these are MY pennies, Andrew was the one who actually made them and got them for me. He somehow became the Pennies man.

So then we come across this wall.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v452/YukiPhnx/events%20and%20vacations/WDW%202010/DSC00112.jpg

Ok folks, if you've read my PTR, you'll know that I planned to get Andrew a Mickey pirate hat as a birthday surprise, but knew he wasn't a "hat person" and probably wouldn't appreciate the gift. WELL.......He wanted a hat. After seeing that wall.

WHAT?????? :scared1: Where is my DBF and what did you do to him? He shrugged and said, "Well, when in Rome." Soooo, we proceeded to try on a bunch of ear hats and he found one he liked. I chose a Minnie Mouse "ear"band I really liked too. At first, I wasn't going to get it, but he wanted to match. Again, WHAT DID YOU DO TO THE REAL ANDREW??? Is it ok if I keep this one? K thanks.

Didn't actually take any pictures of us AT THAT MOMENT. But we wore it for the rest of the trip so you'll see 'em. We also got sprinkled with major Pixie Dust cause of them. More on that later.

Ahhh, World Showcase at last.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v452/YukiPhnx/events%20and%20vacations/WDW%202010/DSC00114.jpg

What is our first stop? A strawberry frozen margarita for Andrew.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v452/YukiPhnx/events%20and%20vacations/WDW%202010/DSC00115.jpg
Looks how happy he is with his alcohol.

Hooray for Mexico!
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v452/YukiPhnx/events%20and%20vacations/WDW%202010/DSC00117.jpg

I on the other hand, had my very first FROZEN BANANA.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v452/YukiPhnx/events%20and%20vacations/WDW%202010/DSC00119.jpg
YUM :thumbsup2 I love bananas and chocolate. And freezing them just seems like an even better idea. My very first Bluth banana? I would've gone for a Gob. We don't get this snack in Canada. I didn't even know it existed until Arrested Development.

So, where to know? Innoventions?? Nopes. Nemo ride! I heard it wasn't popular and a sure walk-on, and I was right! We walked right onto it. I love the queue for this ride. Really submerges you. Get it? ;)

The scene with the deep sea fish actually spooked me a bit. That thing is scary!

So after leaving the ride, it was already 8pm! Where did the time go? Innoventions was closed by now, so just decided to explore the tanks in The Seas. Found a couple of Hidden Mickeys in the tanks.

So we go upstairs to the giant tanks and....What the....DOLPHINS???? They have DOLPHINS HERE???? :cool1: I had no idea! I've never ever heard talk of dolphins here before. Even more exciting was that it was Andrew's first time seeing dolphins in real life! There was a pair of them and they were just swimming around, playing with each other. So very very cute. I sat down on the ledge outside their tank and just watched them. Took this time to write down notes and just relax a bit. It was very nice.

At this point in the trip, Andrew owned up to something he had been keeping from me. The fact that his camera, the only camera we bought (other than our emergency disposal), wasn't working well. He had dropped it when he was in Taiwan, and now it vibrated heavily every time we tried to take a picture. Of course, we were able to temporarily fix it every time we took a shot, but this meant that we wouldn't be able to ask other people to take pictures of us cause it would be too much trouble. We also had to retake a lot of photos cause a lot of the shots would come out blurry.

Fortunately, we were able to take all the pictures we wanted. It just took a little more work. I wish he would've let me know about this sooner so I could've brought my family's digicam and we wouldn't have had to deal with his camera's problem. :sad2: O wells. Lesson number 3, make sure you have a working camera before you leave for your trip.

After some much needed rest (already???), we headed downstairs to look for.......THE FROGFISH.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v452/YukiPhnx/events%20and%20vacations/WDW%202010/DSC00127.jpg

This is the only photo I took of it cause I was too busy video taping it BIZARRE-NESS. Ever since Lia(_disneygirl) mentioned it in her TR, I knew I had to take a look for myself. For a better description of it, go read hers!

But WOOOAAAAH!!! This thing is SO WEIRD! It had this tongue thingy that would flick out like a snake's tongue, right under the horn on its head. And it would swim in the WEIRDEST way!!! Everyone must see this thing.

So after marveling at the frogfish, we decide to catch the next showing of Turtle Talk since they were starting to let people into the theatre. It was a pretty empty crowd. Not close to being full. I remember when I was here 4 years ago, I had to stand in the back of the room cause there was no room for me to sit.

It was as awesome and adorable as always. The first kid introduced his name as "Nemo". SO CUTE! Another really funny part was when a kid asked Crush what turtles ate. He asked the room what we though turtles ate and some guy in the back yelled out, "Turtle!" After Crush tells us what turtles actually eat, he turns to the side of the room and says, "And I heard someone back there say turtle. That's not cool man." :rotfl: It was the face that went along with that that was HILARIOUS. Andrew loved the show. He was especially impressed with the programming and the improv that went on behind this show.

As we walked out of the The Seas, it was already dark! I wanted to take advantage of the fact that most people in the park are already in World Showcase, waiting for Illuminations. So I threw my plans of going to DTD out the window and we headed towards Mission:Space.

Here are some not-so-great photos of the queue.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v452/YukiPhnx/events%20and%20vacations/WDW%202010/DSC00129.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v452/YukiPhnx/events%20and%20vacations/WDW%202010/DSC00130.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v452/YukiPhnx/events%20and%20vacations/WDW%202010/DSC00132.jpg

That rotating wall thing in the queue is one of the things I remember most clearly from my trip in 2006. I just think it's SO COOL, don't you???

We sent my sister a video card from M:S and Andrew bought me a very cute Wall-E plush :lovestruc I'm not sure why I didn't take any pictures of it, but you'll see it show up in Day 6. Which will probably be in December, IF you're lucky. =)

Andrew really liked M:S. Not only because he got to be the "engineer", but also because of the theming around the whole ride. He was telling me how cool it was that the theme is extended even after you leave the ride. I think this is the point where he finally "got" Disney. WOOHOO!

We decided to check out Test Track's line, but it was super long because Illuminations had just ended. We were already pretty tired by then, so decided to head home and call it a night.

One thing I that disappointed me about this trip is the lack of photopass photographers. I remember that every character would be accompanied by a photographer and they were a lot easier to spot on my 2006 trip, but this time, they just weren't around. No photopass on our first night.

Ahhh, I'm finally at Disney!!!! Day 1 is finally at an end. All that planning, all that researching, looking at other people's photos and videos, reading their trip reports, and I'm finally here! It is finally MY VACATION. :cool1:

Up next: Andrew's birthday at Epcot!

I love our "future" photos. I knew when it was coming up, so I told Andrew to put on a silly face. SO FUNNY!

Yeah, I didn't even THINK of the animatronics in that way. Now it's kind of creepy....Just a bit...

We actually didn't have any desserts. We didn't even look! I know. :sad2: Well, I'll try them next time. We shared most of our meals. We figured that instead of having two entrees during the regular meal times, we would share one entree during the "off" times so we can beat the meal time rushes, as well as try out more foods! It worked pretty well for us.

I love turning someone into a Disney fan! I love the moment when they get it. We took a trip with 15 family members in 2002. I was so excited that my favorite cousin was going. I tried for months to get her excited too. I even spent a weekend with her bringing all my neat Disney stuff and pictures from a previous trip. Our first park was MK and our first ride was Jungle Cruise. Halfway through the ride she turned to me and said "I get it now and I love it". It was the best moment. She went back with us in 2004 but hasn't been able to go back since. We're hoping she make it with us next year. Sharing the Magic is the best.

Spaceship Earth is my favorite ride in Epcot because of it's animatronics and set design, simply amazing! It's also a very comforting ride.

Oh man, seeing Andrew with alcohol reminded me of getting buzzed in hollywood studios in wdw, i remember coming out onto the street and seeing characters walk by me suddenly, like three princesses and hook I think. It totally freaked me out because I was buzzed but at the same time i'm trying to follow them to get an autograph, then a MILLION kids came out of nowhere and left me in the dust lol!

Yes, that moment when they "get it" makes all that planning well worth it! I kept trying to get Andrew interested in the trip before we left, but nothing worked. When he told me about this thoughts of M:S as we were walking away from it, I knew that was the moment. He finally got why I love Disney so much and why I work so hard so I can come back.

That moment just made me SOO happy. I mean, for ME, him enjoying himself really made all my planning well worth it. I really didn't want him to feel like he was just dragged along on MY vacation.

Yeah, a lot of my friends question why I even go since it's "only for kids". I don't even bother trying ti change their minds anymore. They just have to experience it for themselves, and if they don't want to, then it's their loss.

Guys. This is on sale. (http://www.disneystore.com/more-collections-faces-of-mickey-mouse-pouchette-bag-by-dooney-bourke/p/1265517/314100/)

Why must shipping to Canada cost SO MUCH???? Even with the savings on this bag, it's STILL not worth it to buy it.

If only I had family in the States that made frequent trips to Toronto. Or even an upcoming trip so I can just have it shipped to my resort.

Oh, the woes of living just 2 hrs north of the border. So close, yet (shipping is)SOO EXPENSIVE!!

It's adorable. And on sale!!

Yes, that DOES make sense about the bag. I've done the math, and unfortunately, it's still not worth it. I went to sleep last night dreaming of D&B and Coach bags. Is that normal?

I can't wait to hear about your trip so we can all relive it with you!!

If you want, I can get the green sketch bag for you, and mail it to you. If you want it sooner, I can save you 10 dollars on it, if you want to wait until holidays, I might save a little more (they haven't announced holiday discounts yet).

 YOU CAAAAN???????? You are wonderful.

I love you. :lovestruc  Shh, Andrew doesn't have to know.

For D&B? I can wait. I mean, I was willing to wait till 2012!

Hey Yuki! I made it over. Great start to your TR - you and Andrew are hilarious and adorable!

I clicked on the link for that purse - no longer available :sad2:

Hey Becca, great to have you here! That purse isn't available anymore???? Booooo! I'm not that surprised that it's gone, it was such a great deal!

We love the Spaceship Earth ride. I totally found out last year you can email the pictures to yourself, after the 3rd time we were on that ride. Doh!

I actually JUST found out I could've done that! I'll have to remember that for next time.

:rotfl: You really want it? I think it will be 25-30 dollars after the discount, and then it will probably cost 15$ to ship it, if I did my calculations correctly on the ups site. If that is okay for you, then I'm cool with it! I will let you know when the discounts come out, because I'll be buying some D&B stuff for myself too. Haha.

What should I do you guys??

That's a cute purse (too bad it's sold out!) I love D&B purses but I personally wouldn't want one with Disney stuff on the outside, but I'd LOVE one that was just plain leather or canvas on the outside but the lining was Disney themed. I looked through all of their purses and it doesn't look like they have that though.

Hey Yuki!

First, thank you for calling SE by its real name, not "the big golf ball." :lmao:

What a great experience for a first day. When my wife and I first went, I also "got it" shortly after our first day began. I really enjoy all the details that Disney throws in.

The one animatronic that really bothers me in SE is the gal on the right as you enter the computer era. Holy cow! That's, as Jordan would put it, a "Oh Honey, NO" look. :rotfl: It's great "seeing" the world through fresh eyes.

Haha, you mean that psychedelic lady?

I was actually almost going to call it that when I first saw it, when pointing it out to Andrew. But I kept myself from that noob-mishap.

Since this is only my 2nd trip, I was seeing a lot of things for the first time too, since I missed SOOOO much on my 1st trip. But yes, it was great to see him enjoy some of things I enjoyed. We both love M:S!

Mini-TR: Niagara Falls Pt.1

Alright! I told y'all I'd be doing a mini-TR of my trip to Niagara Falls. I think? Oh well, here it is! It's in blue cause....I just wanted it to be different. :thumbsup2

Two weekends ago on Sunday 5, 2010, Andrew and I celebrated our 3rd anniversary with a trip to Niagara Falls. I had been meaning to go to the Falls with some friends over the summer, but the timing was always off. I wanted to go at least once before school started (when it was still warm-ish), and our anniversary happened to fall on a Sunday, so we decided to go then.

Growing up in Toronto, Niagara has always been pretty close, even though it seemed SO FAR AWAY when I was a little kid. I've always loved visiting there. The beauty of the falls and the feeling of being somewhere far away from home even though I'm not (I've ALWAYS loved travelling) brings me back all the time.

Most of my friends and siblings don't really like it anymore. The reason is because for almost all Chinese families in Toronto, whenever a relative or friend came to visit from Asia, Niagara Falls is always a must-do. As kids, we've been to the Falls countless times and my siblings and friends just got sick of it. Too much of a good thing is a bad thing I guess.

For me though, I never got tired of it. When my siblings and I were old enough to stay home by themselves, I would always choose to go to the Falls if someone wanted to. Who could say no to a mini-vacation??

So, some more deets on my trip. This was my first time driving over the Rainbow bridge and DRIVING in the USA. It was also my first time spending a night at the Falls (unfortunately, no fallsview). Pretty exciting stuff you could say.

The day started bright and early at 10:30am when I made my way over to Andrew's place to pick him up. Since my family just moved, we now live only a few blocks away from each other! As opposed to, across the city....

He wasn't ready yet, so I went up (he lives in an apartment) and we had some brunch before heading out around 11:30. For this trip, as a treat for Andrew, I was going to do all the driving. He's the ONLY guy I know that HATES driving. How are we going to do that road trip to WDW I've always wanted???

We head west onto the highway and everything is FAB until we turn south towards the Falls. All of a sudden, we hit a huge traffic jam. Eveytime we see traffic on Sundays, Andrew says it's cause of Church. Of course, cause EVERYBODY goes to church back and forth ALL day.

At first, I thought it was jams created by people getting on and off at the city we were passing by. But after 2 cities and still no reprieve, we tried to come up with other reasons for this jam.

Ok, for you drivers out there, I have noticed there are 4 kinds of traffic jams. The accident, The construction, The rush hour, and The nosy.

The accidents are pretty self-explanatory. An accident as happened on the highway such as a crash or a truck rolling over, causing 1 or more lanes to be cut off, forcing the rest of us to merge into 1 or 2 lanes.

The contructions are also self-explanatory. Contruction is being done on the roads and 1 or 2 lanes have been cut off through a long stretch of road.

Again, The rush hour is the kind that happens every weekday morning from 7-9am and every weekend afternoon from 3-7pm.

Now, The nosy needs explaining, but I'm sure all of you have encountered this and muttered profanities when you discover THIS is the reason for the jam. This happens when someone has been pulled over on the shoulder of the road, or anything else that might be happening on the shoulder of the road. No lanes are cut off. Nothing is intruding on the lanes. No lanes have been reduced. Just some stuff happening on the shoulder of the road. But due to EVERYBODY being the NOSY people that they are, they must SLOW DOWN and look at what's happening. I HATE this kind of traffic jam. If everybody would just mind their own business and carry on with their driving, the rest of us wouldn't have to be held up for 30-60 mins on the road, wondering if an accident or construction happened when NOTHING is the reason and people are just being NOSY. This really boils my blood.

Ok, that rant's over.

So, after being in the jam for over an hour (remember, it usually takes 1.5 hrs to get there), we discovered that we must be in a 5th type of traffic jam. The "everyone in Canada is headed for Niagara Falls cause it's Labour Day Weekend" jam. Phewy. A normally short drive turned into a gruelling 3 hour CRAWL. :sad2:

This is our view of the road, before hitting the traffic jam to end all traffic jams.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v452/YukiPhnx/events%20and%20vacations/Niagara%20Falls%202010/CIMG6509.jpg
The flower on the left is George. He dances with the help of solar power! On the right is Rachel, sitting on the toilet and reading a paper. Her head nods back and forth. They're both facing outside, so other people can see them ^_^.

This is me, concentrating on the heavy task of sitting in a traffic jam.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v452/YukiPhnx/events%20and%20vacations/Niagara%20Falls%202010/CIMG6511.jpg

This is Andrew, psyched that HE'S not the one driving.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v452/YukiPhnx/events%20and%20vacations/Niagara%20Falls%202010/CIMG6517.jpg

At about 2:30pm, we finally arrive at the motel we were spending a night in.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v452/YukiPhnx/events%20and%20vacations/Niagara%20Falls%202010/CIMG6524.jpg
Yups, you read the sign right. $39/night. It was a 1-star motel. I booked it the night we left. We figured we were only spending a night so we wouldn't have to drive back to Toronto that night, so anything will do.

This is how it looked.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v452/YukiPhnx/events%20and%20vacations/Niagara%20Falls%202010/CIMG6525.jpg
It wasn't SOO bad. I should've taken a picture of the motel right next to it. It looked at least 30 times better. Maybe we should've chosen that one?

Ahh, FINALLY out of the car!
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v452/YukiPhnx/events%20and%20vacations/Niagara%20Falls%202010/CIMG6519.jpg

Here are some photos of the room when we got in.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v452/YukiPhnx/events%20and%20vacations/Niagara%20Falls%202010/CIMG6520.jpg

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v452/YukiPhnx/events%20and%20vacations/Niagara%20Falls%202010/CIMG6521.jpg

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v452/YukiPhnx/events%20and%20vacations/Niagara%20Falls%202010/CIMG6522.jpg

Believe me, we were expecting MUCH worse. So...it at least surpassed our expectations? See that top I'm wearing? Andrew bought me that from the Rock'N'Rollercoaster store! I love the clothes and accessories they have in that store!

The good thing about it was that it was located on this strip of motels that were slightly removed from the main Niagara Falls tourist area. It was nice and quiet and wasn't surrounded by traffic.

Ok, I'm at work without my trip notes, so this is as far as I can go for today.

Up next: More traffic and mustard?

Oh, it was FURTHER than that. It was on Lundy's Lane. It's apparently the "tourist" area. We were just down the block from the outlet mall! But a look at the super long line outside of Coach, and we opted to pass on it. Maybe next time.

And yes, next time we MUST meet! It'll be on a weekday. I don't think I could deal with the weekend traffic again. I also don't want super long lines at the Coach outlet on your side of the border either.

Well, he did a lot of laughing while in the car....Yes...one day maybe I'll be able to laugh about it too.

I guess being SUPER CHEAP also gives you thicker skin? Or bigger b*lls? Yeah, at least it's not by the hour. It was also the cheapest motel we could find in Niagara. We never took advantage of the free movies though. Our day at the Falls just zapped all our stamina.

Yes, I just LOVE MY SHIRT! It's so hot. I want more clothes from that store. The ToT hotel stuff looks really nice too.

Sounds like Niagra got off to a little bit of a rough start, but it gets better right? :rotfl2:

Ready for more (On either Disney or Niagra!) :goodvibes

Yeah, it gets better. But the driving doesn't :sad2:

You should visit it! It's gorgeous and Clifton Hill is a lot of fun.

Ever seen Psycho? The owner of the motel is Norman Bates. :rotfl:

Naw, it's never too late for well wishes. Thanks!!

Yeah, it's one of those touristy towns that people only go for one reason and most times of the year, it's just another small town.

We had fun, but was super tired by the end of it. Just like Disney!

Chapter 6. Day 2 pt.1- Let the step-by-step touring BEGIN!

Our first full day at a park. Park of choice? EPCOT! I think I touched on this topic in my PTR, but let me explain to you further why Epcot was chosen as our first park.

Everybody has a tradition for starting their trip at WDW. Some folks go to DTD on their first night. Some must be at Magic Kingdom on their first day. I'm part of the crowd that goes to Epcot first. I've only ever been to WDW once EVER, so it's not much of a tradition, so it's the start of one! On my last trip, Epcot was our first taste of a Disney park. The order we went in was Epcot, HS, AK, and MK. Our reasoning for this is because we wanted to go from the least Disney-fied, to the most Disney-ish thing. Or the least to most exciting I think? Ofcourse, I learned they are ALL filled with their own Disney magic and that I should've done more research before that trip.

So because of this simple (and VERY bad) reasoning, I've decided that all my WDW trips should start with Epcot. It just seems right. Also, there are practically no lines for M:S and TT after 5pm.

This is also my first time experiencing rope drop at Epcot. On my last trip, I only attended AK's rope drop because we stayed off site and the earliest shuttle buses to the parks often missed rope drop. Tragic, I know.

Oh! One more thing before I start the day. I am one of the many people here that own at least one copy of the Unofficial Guide to WDW. And like all the others, I LOVE MINE. It's my BIBLE, dudes. I bought mine during the Fall of 2009, reading it from cover to cover. I kid you not, I even read the part about going with kids and offsite hotels.

So, this being my first copy and my first ORGANIZED trip to the World, I decided to give the itinerary guides a try. For science! I thought it would be a cake to stick to it and not deviate but......that's pretty much what happened.

Here's what you REALLY need to know about those touring guides. Even though they're a guide for the whole day, the only part you really need to follow is everything before lunch. All the biggest rides are packed into the morning time, leaving you plenty of time the rest of the day to go on the ones that don't have a long wait. That's pretty much what I learned from the guide. I'm extremely thankful for everything I learned in this book. I was able to go on the biggest rides multiple times with little to no wait. I'll definitely be getting one in 2013.

SOOO, let's get Day 2 started already!

We woke up bright and early with a wake-up call at 8am. Ok, another tangent. How do I set up a character wake-up call? I thought they would have a button for it on the phone, or it would be an option, but I couldn't find it. I also forgot to ask about it every time I was down at concierge. So, will someone please tell me how to do it. I REALLY wanted Stitch to wake me up on this trip.

I laid everything out the night before, had my water bottles filled up and everything ready to go so the morning was very easy. Got up, got ready, grabbed my energy bar for breakfast, filled our mug up with POWERADE and was at the bus stop by 8:20am.

Oh yes, today was also ANDREW'S BIRTHDAY :cheer2: So he wore his birthday button on the day bag I packed for him. He got MANY well wishes today. It really took him by surprise, but I think he liked it. There's a funny story about this later in the day.

Andrew's a fan of shadow pictures, so here's the ONLY one of the trip that he took.

Pretty cute huh?

The day before, I really wanted a photo of us in our ears, but never got around to it. So after getting off the bus, we took this.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v452/YukiPhnx/events%20and%20vacations/WDW%202010/DSC00134.jpg
This is also a photo shout-out to my dear friend Jordan (jordanyosh) with his trademark, tongue-picture.

After a typical bag check, we go through the turnstiles cause we're just in time for the in-park rope drop. This is our surroundings, waiting on the right side of the entrance to get our first FP's for the trip. Take a wild guess what ride it's for.

So many peoples!

At this point, I was videotaping Andrew and saying how it's HIS BIRTHDAY!! Then I ask him, "How does it feel to be 23?" He says, "I'm 22." AHAHAHAH. Oops, my bad! So I go, "OH YEAAAAH!!! I guess I was thinking of Scott Pilgrim." If you don't know Scott Pilgrim, he's the star of a comic book series by the same name, written and drawn by a CANADIAN artist. There are only 6 volumes in the series and it's super awesome.

You might know it from the movie of the same name starring Micheal Cera(ugh) who in my opinion is TOTALLY inappropriate for the role, but the movie kicked SO MUCH A$$ that I don't really care. The director did a LOT to please us comic fans and non-fans still enjoyed it. KUDOS Mr.Director. Kudos. Best comic-to-live-action movie adaptation EVER MADE. For reals.

Oh, where was I? Oh yes, Epcot rope drop. I've heard there isn't much of a show here compared to the other parks, and they're right. A couple of minutes before the park opened, Goofy showed up with some ride-operating CMs and led a countdown to park opening. "5! 4! 3! 2! 1!" *cheers* I told Andrew to stay close as we moved with the hoards towards The Land pavilion. We tried to move as fast as we could without moving very fast at all. After lining up for my first FP of the trip, we got ours without much trouble at all. I was so scared we might be stuck behind a broken machine, but we weren't!

Armed with FPs for Soarin', we headed straight across Future World to Test Track, as the UG told us to.

The stand-by time was 20 mins, but as I have learned from numerous TRs, the actual standby line is always shorter than the posted time. We hopped right into it and it was practically a walk-on! There was no stopping until we reached the briefing room. Here are some photos of the line. I really LOVED this queue. There was SO MUCH to look at, and so many Hidden Mickeys to look for!

The great thing about this queue is that even in the FP/single rider line, there is something new and different to look at. You need to go through both to see everything.

I couldn't help myself here.

This is both our first times on this ride, so we were really excited about it. WE LOVED IT!!! It was SOOOO MUCH FUN! Sure, my hair got in my mouth and it was almost too bright to see anything, but I had a blast. I love how fast the ride is and the tight corners we took.

Here are some photos of the area after we get off the ride.

I just LOVE that Disney continues the theming after the ride has ended. All these extra little things is why we love coming back so much.

I'm super pumped after my ride, so I temporarily forget that the touring guide tells me I should head to M:S next and we decide to jump into the single riders line on TT for a 2nd go around.

WOOHOO!!!! So much fun again! This time, we tried to look for the hidden Mickeys during the ride and was able to find a couple. But what will this deviation mean for my touring plans???

Up next: What? Our ride ACTUALLY had a sum?

TSM was down during my trip....I guess I'll experience that rush on another trip! But boy, that Soarin rush is just CRAZY.

Space Mountain's new queue looks cool too. I didn't have much time to try out the games though.

Oooh, that's a very cute necklace! Unfortunately, my pendant and the accompanying Minnie Mouse heart pendant is no longer in production. I've been looking for the Minnie one myself and am having a real hard time finding it. I'll bet if you find it on ebay, the price will be WAAAY jacked up. :sad2:

I used to be SO AFRAID of dropping rides. I have a fear of falling which might explain that. But ToT is just so much MORE than just dropping, you know???

No, the second time was JUST AS GOOD. Especially since this time we were looking for hidden mickeys on the ride. The outside part of the ride was still just as awesome.

Aw man, I wish I could be there at this moment too! I'm really aching for some Disney.

It's funny how Epcot ends up being your last park. Maybe it's cause Bubba spends SO MUCH TIME there?

Ooh, MK as a treat, that DOES sound nice. To be thrust into all that magic at the start of your trip.

TT is for sure one of the top rides for me. The rush of the outside part is just the best! Even with hair in my face and the sun in my eyes!

YEES, M:S orange is a must. This is probably one of Andrew's favourite rides. He loves the technology behind it all. We rushed through the queue too, but were stopped a little before heading to the area before the briefing room and noticed some hidden mickeys that can only be seen by FP or single riders!

Looking for HMs is just a great way to pass the time in the line. Especially when you have NO IDEA where to even begin!

Chapter 7. Day 1 pt.2-Touring plans? What touring plans?

After our 2nd time around the TT, Andrew asks me, "So what's next?" After a blank stare I go, "Oh ya! Mission: Space! Oh snap, I hope the line isn't too long!."

We walk (not run, wth right?), over to M:S right next door and see that the stand-by line is 25mins. Well...UG told us to not wait for any ride that posts waits longer than 20mins.... So, we grabbed an FP and decided to move on to the nearest attration, Universe of Energy, hosted by my favourite talk show host, Ellen Degeneres!!! *applause* Touring guide, what guide?

I think the sign for this ride is one of the most beautiful in the world World. What do you think?
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v452/YukiPhnx/events%20and%20vacations/WDW%202010/DSC00153.jpg

We walked in right when the pre-show was just ending. I love Bill Nye the Science Guy. I learned so much from his shows. In elementary school, our teacher would show us episodes from his show and the Magic School Bus! I loved Miss Frizzle.

This is another ride that is a first for Andrew and I, so we really didn't know what to expect. I mean, I'd read about it online and in the UG, but nothing really prepared me for this attraction. Especially since there was no real "line", just a big room with a large screen. For a minute, I thought that was it! Epcot is filled with those kinds of shows, so I was almost about to leave, despite how much I actually looked forward to seeing Ellen.

BUT, then the pre-show ended with us being invited into Ellen's dream! The wall opens up and we see rows and rows of seats. Still don't know what to expect. We headed to the further row and scooted all the way down to the end of it. What was going to happen? I think these seats move, but they're HUUUGE!!

The show starts and I notice this is a pretty "old" Ellen. Well technically she's a lot younger but you get the drift. Ofcourse, it makes sense cause this ride was probably made when Bill Nye was still relevant to children.

When the seats start to move and we head into the age of the dinosaurs, I start to get a little scared. I'm terrified of the Dinosaur ride at AK, so I was PRAYING this was nothing like it. Nobody told me this ride was scary!

One thing I noticed in that room where the screen is 360 and images are popping up all over it, people don't tend to look around. I noticed the same thing when watching OH! Canada! It's a 360 room people! The point is to see ALL of it. I would turn around to look and see rows of people staring at me like -I- was the crazy one.

Of course, in Canada, I WAS the only one cheering during the show....GO TORONTO!!!

Moving on! I enjoyed the show. I laughed at parts. Mostly, it was a nostalgic feeling of seeing and hearing Bill again. And Ellen is just pure AWESOME. I don't think I'll be going on it again for a while. Maybe my cousins would like to see it, but it's pretty out of the way for a cool break.

At this point, we abandoned all previous touring plans and just did whatever we wanted! I sort of sabotaged the plan by going on rides the night before anyways.

I had meant to do this last night, but we decided to do this now. We went over to Innoventions West and got in line for Sum of All Thrills without even looking at the stand-by time! Ok, I gave it a glimpse. 30 MINUTES!! Holy smokes. We decided to just stay in it. Might as well, right? Maybe the wait wouldn't be THAT long.

It was. It was just THAT long. My feet were starting to hurt too. But I so desperately wanted to go on this ride, and didn't see any other time to try it. We whipped out the trail mix I had prepared for the trip and nom-ed on it. MMmmm, pumpkin seeds.

When we finally got to the end of the line, the CM noticed how tired I looked and asked us how many days we had been there. Andrew told him it was only our 2nd day. The CM was like, "And already tired??? (to Andrew) You need to carry her for the rest of the day!" and Andrew said, "But I'm the birthday boy! Shouldn't she be carrying me?" We laughed and joked some more and the CM wished Andrew a happy birthday.

In the pre-show, the tv-guy went on and on about how engineers are everywhere and everyone can be an engineer and how they build the coolest things! I kept nudging Andrew and asking him, "Hey! Mr.Engineer! Is that what you do? Build rollercoasters? Build a rollercoaster for me Mr.Engineer!" Yes, I can be SOOOO annoying. He's an electrical engineer, so he only writes programs.

We chose to build a rollercoaster. I had NO IDEA that the jet was more extreme. I'll be choosing that next time. Meanwhile, we put in a corkscrew, a "thread the needle" some other twisty thing and a very steep drop. In fact, we pushed the numbers to the MAX when designing everything. We tried to get the most extreme ride we could muster up. We're thrill seekers, can you tell?

We named it the Flaming Star. I actually wanted to name it Flaming (something else), but Andrew chose star for me cause it's my favourite shape. He's sweet, but Flaming Star just doesn't sound that hardcore to me.

At the end of our ride, we noticed there was a number on the screen. Our "sum"? It was a measly 300-something. The top score was over a thousand! We didn't know there was an ACTUAL sum!!! This means we MUST come back another time to get a higher score.

Maybe even something....OVER 9 THOUSAND!! Ok....that was a very geeky joke. If you get it then, HOORAH!

I wanted to do the KP Challenge, so we walked to the other end of Innoventions and picked up an FP for it. We start off in Italy! Andrew videotaped me getting the FP and must've said my name because the CM said, "Konnichiwa!" to us. Of course, we just smiled and nodded. My name is Japanese, but I'm Chinese. It was still nice of her though. :thumbsup2

For some reason, we didn't take any pictures of Innoventions. I should get more pictures next time.

Oh yes! I almost forgot! After we got off the UoE ride, we saw two little boys about 3 and 6 years old with shaved heads. Except....if any of you out there are Avatar:The Last Airbender fans......they left an arrow-shaped bit of hair on their heads! Basically the arrow was a bit of thin fuzz and the rest of their head was shaven. Just like the Avatar's arrow. SOO COOL. We weren't fast enough to get pictures of them though. Their parents must be AWESOME to let them do that.

Up next: Delays in M:S, the Jammitors, and the Captain himself!

It's a nice cool and dark place to sit for 20+ mins, but it can also get kind of loud. I wouldn't recommend it for napping, but it's a nice place to rest your feet.

I've been really busy with work, so I haven't been able to read. I'm going to catch up today though!

Haha, I like how Andrew thinks the animatronics are either saying "Help me!" or "You're next!" I think more along the lines of the latter! Animatronics are actually kind of scary BECAUSE of the fact that they move so smoothly. If I had the chance to ride any ride with animatronics ALONE, I would pass on it!

I also laughed when you said "Oooh, they look so yummy!" when you went into the fish section of Living with the Land. When I'm with my family, we talk about how we eat those kinds of fish all the time! Very Chinese!

I've never seen the frogfish. I'll have to keep that in mind for next time!

The Niagara Falls commentary was funny when you said that you have to bring relatives there when they visit. When my parents and brother went to Toronto to visit my cousin and just go on a short vacation, they stopped at Niagara Falls!!!

HAHA, the little thing you have on your dashboard sitting on the toilet is named RACHEL!!!

I'm trying to figure out what to do in February with Epcot. I'm going with my DFi and my cousin and her boyfriend. When I'm with my family, we normally go to Soarin' to get FP and then we ride. We'll then go on Living with the Land so that when we're done, we can use our FP for Soarin. That way we won't have to walk back to that pavilion. The only thing is, I hate the long lines at Test Track, and I really want to ride all together for the first time instead of hopping onto the single rider line right away. The Test Track FP are really late by the time we make it over there. Anyway, I'm kind of intrigued by the get FP thing for Soarin' and ride standby for Test Track. But of course, that would mean more walking, which isn't good for me (I have a medical condition).

Universe of Energy is fun to do at least once. I think thereafter, it's kind of an invitation to take a nap, at least after the dinosaur part! It is a great way to learn though to be in a theater with moving seats!

I'm the complete opposite of you guys; if I were to do Sum of All Thrills, I'd make it as tame as possible!

Bill Nye the Science Guy is pretty much the coolest guy ever. I saw him on CNN a few months ago talking about the Gulf Oil Spill and I was like "OMG. Bill Nye the Science Guy! Do a cool experiment to show us how the oil is going to destroy the water!" But he didn't do anything cool. He just talked. Lame.

The outside of the Universe of Energy is really cool, but, for me at least, the inside is just one giant nap.

I've never seen/done the Sum of All Thrills but it sounds cool. Although, I'm not much of a thrill-seeker, so I'll probably never do it.

Oh ya!!! I forgot I knew someone on here named Rachel, haha. For some reason, I've always related the colour purple to the name Rachel. :confused3

Hm...that is a dilemma indeed......The touring plans in the guide required that we covered a lot of distance if we wanted short waits.

Maybe instead of getting an FP for Soarin.....when the park opens, some of you can get FPs for TT, get in the standby line for Soarin (which shouldn't be TOOO bad just yet), then go on with Living with the Land and ride TT with your FPs? You can make Weird do all the running instead :upsidedow

Universe of Energy is fun to do at least once. I think thereafter, it's kind of an invitation to take a nap, at least after the dinosaur part! It is a great way to learn though to be in a theater with moving seats!

Yes, it's a great place to just rest a bit. Nice and cool. Too bad the seats aren't that comfy.

I'm the complete opposite of you guys; if I were to do Sum of All Thrills, I'd make it as tame as possible!

Haha, it'll still be fun! I hear the bobsled is the tamest cause there are no loops or steep hills I think.

I just LOVE Bill Nye. It's great to see that he's still around. Not as fun, but still a great way to learn. And lol to what you wanted him to do. I think that's what the Daily Planet on Discovery Channel does. I sure miss his shows though.

If the wait is around 10-15mins, you shouls definitely try it out. They have tame versions of the rides too. It's just really cool to create your own ride and then experience it! The tamer ride is the bobsled I believe....

I've been on Universe of Energy twice but I can't tell you anything about it after we got on the ride vehicles. I feel asleep both times and the noise didn't bother me one bit. Someday I would like to be able to ride it and not fall asleep.

Hey Yuki!! Sorry i'm just getting to your update now. I've been working nooon stop!

Ahhh Bill Nye and Miss Frizzle!! I'm being brought back to 2nd grade. I remember some of the Magic School Bus episodes so well because our teacher would let us borrow the tape she had. The one where they went to outer space was my favorite.

I love Universe of Energy. It gets a lot of heat for being long and boring but I've always loved Ellen even when I was little and so it's kind of a nostalgia thing for me. I think it's an awesome attraction. It's just not Mission: Space or Soarin.

Sum of All Thrills sounds like it's really made Innoventions cooler. I've never done it but next trip for sure!

Yeah, you must be really busy with work cause it's Fall and all.

I have SO many episodes from MSB that I loved. Like when they get swallowed by Carlos or the evaporation episode. I learned so much.

Yeah, Universe of Energy is definitely a cool ride. I don't think it's very boring, but I don't see me doing that when I go back in 2012.

Innoventions is already pretty cool by itself.I just wish I had more time in it. Well, I'm going to make sure to spend lots of time there in 2013. There is just so much to look at! Try to remember your sum when you go on Sum of All Thrills. I wanna know how to get a bigger score!

Sorry for the lack of updates! After a lot of negotiating, my house finally has internet again! I'm now updating from work and forgot to bring my trip notes again soo......here's what I can show you guys.

I went to the bookstore the other day and I ALWAYS look at the travel section. It's nice to just browse those guidebooks, you know? I came across this
http://www.stitchkingdom.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/05/5-4-2009-3-45-15-pm.jpg

and this
http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_rOqL_PwNKkU/S9Tk9wLm1CI/AAAAAAAABek/Vfp_pVIcZ6Q/s400/Epcot+Imagineering+Field+Guide.jpg

I bought them.....I couldn't help myself! I really fell for Epcot and HS on my trip. I wanted the AK one too, but they didn't have it in the store.

I also saw this on the shelves
http://images.indiebound.com/537/855/9780786855537.jpg

but I just wasn't that interested. I know MK is the epitome of Disney magic but.....I dunno. It jus didn't appeal to me as much. I DO love the park though.

So now I'm halfway through the HS one and I'm learning so much! Did you guys know that the lamp shades in the ToT lobby were designed with fringes that came from period-style flapper dresses?

I highly recommend these books for anyone wanting to know more about the construction of the parks and all the detail and design and PLANNING that went into EVERYTHING. It's only about $9.95 USD each.

Ok, I promise I will have a real update soon. Catch y'all laters!

Chapter 8. Day 2 pt.3- Encounter with the Beverly

After grabbing FPs for KP, headed over to M:S to use our FPs. Ahh, don't you just love abbreviations?

We had no trouble getting through the FP line and were in the pre-show room in no time, standing on our numbered circles. After watching the video, everyone prepared to walk through the open doors, but they weren't opening....the video just continued to show people working in a controls room, not restarting or anything. We stood in that room for a good 10-15 minutes before the doors finally opened. The CMs never gave us an explanation, but we figured someone must've gotten sick since this is the orange version. The poor soul must've thought their stomache was stronger! My legs COULDN'T wait to just sit down and go to Mars.

After our trip back from the red planet, we decided to use our FPs for Soarin' and started heading in that direction. As soon as I saw Club Cool, I knew I had to stop for a drink. I couldn't wait to taste Coca Cola products from around the world!

I have always been and always will be, a Coca Cola girl. I will NEVER settle for Pepsi. Thank goodness WDW has the relationship with them, eh?

I was too busy videotaping Andrew tasting the Beverly so completely forgot to take any pictures! I also didn't take any notes about this visit so I can't remember which ones I liked. :rolleyes1 I'm pretty sure I like the germany and china ones.

Soooo, the story about...THE BEVERLY. So here I am, videotaping Andrew tasting it for the first time, waiting for a grimace, or a "blech!" or SOMETHING! You know what I get? "Hm...tastes kind of like alcohol....I kinda like it."

:scared1::scared1::scared1::scared1:

That's right ladies and gentlemen, my DBF is part of the minority that actually ENJOYS the Beverly :crazy2: He probably enjoys it as much as he enjoyed tricking other people into drinking it! His first time here and he's already an old pro. Even today, he tells me how much he would like some Beverly.

I wasn't planning on trying the Bev too but after seeing Andrew's reaction, my guards were down. So.....I take a sip and as expected :crazy2: GROSSS!!! YUCK!!! >___< Never again.

So after that adventure we continued on to The Land. Here's a photo of the crowds in front of us.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v452/YukiPhnx/events%20and%20vacations/WDW%202010/DSC00155.jpg

Pretty full eh?

As we were just about the past the Times board, some janitors started to make a fuss. Were these people who I thought they were......YES!!! They were the Jammitors!!!
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v452/YukiPhnx/events%20and%20vacations/WDW%202010/DSC00157.jpg

I was really hoping to catch their show and I stumbled upon it! Man, they were SOOOO FUNNY! They said a multitude of funny things, but I only remember to write one of them down.

Jammitors: Ok everybody, we have a special announcement! Everybody listen up! Today.....is..........HOT!! *ba dum chi*

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: Cracked me up. The thing is, Andrew was wearing his birthday button and I was half-afraid they were gonna single us out because of it!

We finally made our way to Soarin but the FP line looked SOOOOO LOOONG. So we decided to just come back again later and headed to Captain EO.

When we got there, the line was empty......the room, completely emtpy. Nobody behind the turnstiles or in the building at all. Was it closed? Did something happen to it? We walked all the way up to the turnstile and looked around it a bit. Finally, a CM came out and told me they were going to let people into the pre-show area in 5 minutes. Hooray! The show was going on, and we were at the front of the line!! Pixie dust sure is awesome stuff.

The show with the Captain was pretty good. It is definitely worth seeing. Andrew is an MJ fan, so it was a treat for him. He had no idea MJ ever did this! The only bad thing was that we sat in the front rows. Bad idea. My neck hurt a lot from looking up the whole time. :sad2:

I was starting to get a bit hungry, so we finally headed toward the World Showcase to get some grub!

On hindsight, we should've gone back to The Land to use our Soarin' FPs...

Up next: The World Showcase is sooooo big!!! Getting drunk and (almost) passing out :rolleyes1

Yeah, and even though we keep seeing the same books, you STILL flip through them like it's your first time!

I'll definitely be buying the 2013 Unofficial Guide when it comes out. I've even thought of buying the Colour Companion so I can show pictures to my WDW-noob cousins that I will be bringing along. I think it'll be a great way to give them a good idea of what they're in for!

In highschool, all the guys I knew loved to mix different foods together and EAT THEM. Like, hotdogs dipped in hot chocolate and tomato soup. YUCK! Why do they feel the need to do stuff like that?

Haha.....great story coming up....a few of them actually. BTW, what the heck is a Torontopolitan? We saw that in the stand right outside the Canada Pavilion and have never heard of such a thing.

Too funny about your DBF liking the Beverly  I am also a fan of the Chinese watermelon drink mmm I could go for some of that right now!

I have always wanted to see the Jammitors but have never ran into them! How cool you go to watch them!!!

Hi! I just discovered your TR and I'm really enjoying it.

I was surprised by the fact that Fanta Orange soda is not available in Canada, because when I travelled around the world ten years ago, it was my go-to drink - I remember it being everywhere. That and Pringles :) But now that I think about it, Fanta is far less common in the US than it was abroad.

Also, thanks for the Imagineering Field Guide recommendation - I ordered mine today.

I'm so sorry I haven't been updating lately. My first round of assessments is here. Two midterms and a paper due this week.

I'm pretty sure I'll have an update out by tomorrow night. If I don't, feel free to send me rotten veggies in the mail!

In recent news, I was bitten by a kid last week. She's about 7-8 years old. I volunteer at a school for children on the lower functioning end of the autism spectrum. I love being there with the kids, but unfortunately, child aggression isn't uncommon.

One of the children threw a tantrum, ran at me and bit into my right shoulder. She bit so hard, it tore my skin! Through 2 layers of clothing too! It stung really bad for about 2 hours, but it's healing pretty well right now.

I guess the good thing is, I've been bit by children before, so I was more or less unshaken by this incident. I also can't blame the kid because she wasn't able to control her actions. I'll still continue to volunteer there because I really love it there. I'm just sad that she had this outburst when her progress was going so well.

Ok, I promise I'll have an update up by tomorrow because everybody wants to hear about being drunk at WDW! :rotfl:

Yeah, I think little kids go through a biting phase. I had a cousin that is 7 right now. When he was about 3 or 4, he grabbed my legs and bit me right on my inner thigh. Just chomped right down! Of course, he was rightly punished, but I didn't let him hug me for a while....

I know enuff NOT to get in a power struggle with any of them , it aint woth the effort!!:rotfl2:I've seen major behaviors from staff not having enuff sense to back off !!

An occupational hazard indeed! I've seen some volunteers that haven't had a lot of experience with children....and you can really tell. My coordinator told me that her sister volunteered at a fundraiser once and got bit by a kid and never returned. I guess it takes stronger people like us! I really love being around these kids.

Chapter 9. Day 2 pt.4- Where are the photopass?

I promised an update so here it is! May not be as complete as I want it to be though....

I just realized I haven't been keeping up with my lessons theme so here it is, Lesson number 4. Not sticking to a touring plan may not be such a bad thing after all. I think that's more a lesson I learned at the end of my trip, but I started to learn it here! So it counts right? Ok, moving on.

Another side note (cause I can never have enough of these), Andrew calls Epcot, "Apricot". It started on our first day, when he accidently called it Apricot and just kind of stuck with it. He's fluent in English, but has problems with pronunciation and spelling. Our favourite mistake of his is how he pronounced the word "pavilion". We were at the zoo one day, approaching the African pavilion and he goes, "Oh look! The African "pahvee-lion". I stopped in my tracks and looked at him like he was joking.

Me: You're joking right?
Him: About what?
Me: Say it again.
Him: Pahvee-lion.....?
Me: omg, you're for reals.

Then a kid walks by and goes, "pavilion!", as if correcting Andrew. I broke out in laughter. I laughed SOOOO hard that day. I know I shouldn't, but it was just SO FUNNY! He makes these mistakes all the time. I'm the best DGF ever, I know.

When I last left you, we had just come from visting Captain MJ with a sore neck. We headed towards WS to grab some grub.

On my last trip, I started at Mexico. So I switched it up this time by starting at my homeland! Le Canada. Cause everything sounds fancier with "le" in front of it. Le Yuki. Le trip report. Le best park ever.

Why is it the best park ever? The booze ofcourse! And not just the booze, but being able to drink the booze IN PUBLIC. In front of children! In a THEME PARK. Yups, Andrew loves Epcot.

We knew we wanted to drink around the World, but we had to contemplate starting in Canada. I mean, we can get the same stuff at home, for cheaper. We stopped by the drinks kiosk to take a look anyways.

A torontopolitan? What the heck is that?? I mean, we're from Toronto and we've never heard of that! BIZARRE. It's a lot like the cheddar cheese soup. Everybody here thinks it's the most Canadian thing ever, but I didn't even hear about it until the Dis! I mean, I know we have awesome potato soup. And even better potato and cheddar soup, but cheddar cheese soup? So yeah, this torontopolitan was boggling to us.

I thought about just watching Oh! Canada! so we didn't have to back track, but I was REALLY hungry, so I decided I wanted fish and trips from the UK next door. On our way, one of the character photo spots just opened up, which meant no lines for the characters! I was definitely up for that.

I got a picture with June from the Little Einsteins. I was really excited to see her! I love that show. When I have children, I'm buying them Disney playhouse on demand and we will watch those shows over and over and over.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v452/YukiPhnx/events%20and%20vacations/WDW%202010/DSC00159.jpg
Would you believe I watched the Treehouse channel until I was 12??? I just never want to grow up, seriously. Peter Pan, take me away!

Right across from her was BOLT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OMG, I love Bolt so much. Like SO MUCH! I would've been SOOO happy if they had Rhino out that day too, but unfotunately, he wasn't around. I really love this shot Andrew took of us hugging.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v452/YukiPhnx/events%20and%20vacations/WDW%202010/DSC00160.jpg

Yay, Bolt! He's just so adorable.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v452/YukiPhnx/events%20and%20vacations/WDW%202010/DSC00161.jpg

One change Disney made that I'm not a fan of is their lack of photopass photographers. When I came in 2006, every character had their own photopass photographers! They were everywhere! We took a ton of pictures from them and it just seemed more worth it to buy the photopass cd. But this year.......Up until this point in my trip I STILL haven't seen any photopass! What gives??? Where are all the photographers???

Here are some shots on our way to the Yorkshire County Fish Shop.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v452/YukiPhnx/events%20and%20vacations/WDW%202010/DSC00162.jpg

Hey, it's me lining up to get some fish and chips!
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v452/YukiPhnx/events%20and%20vacations/WDW%202010/DSC00163.jpg

MMMmmmm, fish and chips.... I had no idea it would be so small.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v452/YukiPhnx/events%20and%20vacations/WDW%202010/DSC00164.jpg

Ahh, the red phone booth that tells us we're in the UK.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v452/YukiPhnx/events%20and%20vacations/WDW%202010/DSC00165.jpg

This kind of looks like the house the seven dwarves live in. Dontcha think so?
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v452/YukiPhnx/events%20and%20vacations/WDW%202010/DSC00166.jpg

We bought one order of fish and chips to share.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v452/YukiPhnx/events%20and%20vacations/WDW%202010/DSC00167.jpg
LOTS of tartar sauce for the fish, and mayo for the fries. That's right, Andrew eats fries with mayo. I swear, one day, he's going to have a heart attack and none of us will be surprised.

This was VERY VERY GOOD. OMG, sooo gooooood. I don't think I could ever go back to eating this anymore. Fish and chips is one of my favourite foods, but this Disney one just is so much better than any I've ever had EVER. The tartar sauce was also very yummy.

We grabbed a nice table that was covered by an umbrella, next to the Fish Shop. Here's our fantastic view.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v452/YukiPhnx/events%20and%20vacations/WDW%202010/DSC00168.jpg

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v452/YukiPhnx/events%20and%20vacations/WDW%202010/DSC00169.jpg

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v452/YukiPhnx/events%20and%20vacations/WDW%202010/DSC00170.jpg

Andrew was eager to start drinking, so I told him he should be able to get a pint from the Fish Shop. He went to the Fish Shop but their cashiers have stopped working! So he went into the Rose and Crown Pub and asked about getting a drink and they said they were all tapped out!! So he wasn't able to get any alcohol in the UK.

The weather couldn't have been better that day. We sat there eating with a slight breeze blowing over us. It was just......more relaxation. I could've sat there all day, but we had the rest of WS to see! Our plan was to head back to Canada and watch the show, and continue on with the rest of WS.

Here's a blurry picture Andrew took of the waiting area before Oh! Canada!
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v452/YukiPhnx/events%20and%20vacations/WDW%202010/DSC00171.jpg

When the CM was introducing the show before he let us into the theatre, I couldn't help but hoot and holler a bit. Ok...maybe more than a bit...throughout the whole show....

He talked about how the Blackberry is Canadian and I shouted, "WOOT WATERLOOOOO!!!" See, that's the city that invented the Blackberry and I go to school there! I'm very proud of that. It was made by a student just like me. Well, not JUST like me. By an engineer that probably ate at the same place on campus. Close enough.

I really enjoyed the show! It's definitely much better than the old, dry version that could put anyone to sleep. Martin Short is a pretty funny guy and they did a pretty good job with this one. Everytime Toronto was mentioned, I cheered.

Ok, I know I brought this up before, but I cannot be the only one that actually makes use of the 360 degree screen and actually turn around to look at everything, can I? I swear, that theatre is designed for us to look around at the whole screen! But every time I turned around to get the big picture, people just looked at me funny. As if they were thinking, "What are you doing? Turn around. We don't need to see your face."

Heading out of the show.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v452/YukiPhnx/events%20and%20vacations/WDW%202010/DSC00172.jpg
Yes, that's my hand. Thumbs up cause we're in Canada!

Ahh, so pretty.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v452/YukiPhnx/events%20and%20vacations/WDW%202010/DSC00175.jpg

Andrew being his silly self.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v452/YukiPhnx/events%20and%20vacations/WDW%202010/DSC00176.jpg

We walked around inside the store a bit. I remember finding some of the shirts funny, but didn't make any notes for it. And what the hell does beaver butt smell like? Can somebody tell me? I've never seen the stuff in Canada.

One last thing about fake Canada, where is the CN Tower???? Honestly, when I came here in 2006, I was expecting to see it. But where is it? I don't see it anywhere! Fake Canada looks like more Vancouver (one of our western cities) than the whole of Canada. I don't think it does a very good job at representing my country.

Up next: Get to the drunk story already!

I'm not sure what Disney was thinking when they built the Canadian pavilion. It might have to do with ideas on how to display Canada by only picking certain parts. Apparently the CN tower and the Parliament buildings don't count for anything. Whatever. Love the thumbs up! Seems to be a Canadian thing

You got to see BOLT!!!!! So lucky! He's a rare sighting nowadays. Last time I saw him was at DHS in the Animation building. I love that happy little white dog:lovestruc

Speaking of autism.... my sister Bubba had a run in with an autistic child when she was a counsellor at camp just this summer. She got bit on the nose by one of them. Ouch!

Yeah, I expected at least the Parliament buildings too! It's like they went to Vancouver and said, "Well, the rest of it must be like this too!"

Hooray for thumbs up! I don't remember using it in the rest of my photos....but we'll see. I know Andrew does it a lot!

Yeah, I'm so happy to see Bolt. I also got Jiminy Cricket! I definitely didn't expect to get a picture with him.

Omg, on the nose! I hope it didn't hurt too much. :headache:

The same thing happened to us at EO! There it was completly empty. Kind of creepy really.

Mmmmm.... fish and chips from the Rose & crown. On our trip in '09, that was the first place we ate dinner. I dream about those fish and chips!

I WANT TO SEE O CANADA!!! I come from a family of annoying people who didn't want to watch any of the video-essays! They did let me see one (I chose France, my dream country) but I wanna see Canada and China! Grrr :headache:.... ok, rant over

I keep looking so closely through all of your pictures to see if we saw any of the same people (I'm good with faces :lmao:). I looked through all our pictures for you and andrew. No luck :sad2:

Yuki!! I'm sooo sorry I haven't been on your TR in awhile! I've been so crazy stressed and busy. But i'm here now!

Loved the update. Man, I can't wait until I'm 21 and I can drink drank drunk at the WS. Everyone talks about the grey goose slushies and I want one!

I cracked up out loud at that kid correcting Andrew on the word pavilion. Oh my God that's hilarious!

I agree that fish and chips are the best at Disney. I also do not eat them anywhere else. It's funny though, i've never gotten them from Epcot, I always get them at the ABC Comissary at MGM or Columbia Harbour House at MK. Soooo delicious.

Can you believe I've never seen the Canada movie?? It's a must-do next trip!! I looove Martin Short and Canada just plain rocks.

BEAVER BUTT OMG. Are you talking about the soap? That cracked me up LOL I took pics of it I think! They'll probably be in my TR once we get to that...which will be in like a year...hahaha.

Update again soon! I need to hear of the drunkenness!!

Chapter 10. Day 2 pt.5- I'm not drunk, it's a heat stroke!

Hey fellas! I'm terribly sorry for my absence from the boards, but I've just been caught up in school lately.

We have finally arrived at the part you have all been waiting for! Getting drunk in World Showcase.

When I last left you, we had just started touring WS with a visit to my home country. We went back to the UK to do it properly. First off....the obligatory phone booth shots.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v452/YukiPhnx/events%20and%20vacations/WDW%202010/DSC00179.jpg

And ofcourse, this.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v452/YukiPhnx/events%20and%20vacations/WDW%202010/DSC00180.jpg

If any of you play Team Fortress 2, this is a shout out to all the spies!
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v452/YukiPhnx/events%20and%20vacations/WDW%202010/DSC00182.jpg

Before we headed into the stores, a cast member drew this for kids to play on! How nice!
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v452/YukiPhnx/events%20and%20vacations/WDW%202010/DSC00183.jpg

It was the last day of the CM who drew this, so her other CM pals tried to get her to play a game. She refused and said that the other kids wanted to play. The other CMs starting chanting her name. I forget what it was, but Andrew and I joined in, as well as the other guests passing by. It was pretty cool. She finally gave in and played a game and we all cheered for her. Only at Disney.

I can't remember which store this was in....One of the main gift shops I think. Andrew took this cause he likes and collects figures.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v452/YukiPhnx/events%20and%20vacations/WDW%202010/DSC00185.jpg
I thought it was pretty cool too. The figures display in this store was AWESOME.

I didn't know this series was from the UK!
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v452/YukiPhnx/events%20and%20vacations/WDW%202010/DSC00186.jpg

I've read them all as a kid and really loved them. My favourite is Little Miss Bossy. I can't imagine why though....

One of the stores that was a must for me was the Twinnings tea shop. I love tea and have a lot of it back home. One day when I have my own place, I'm going to have a proper tea set with a pot and little tea cups with saucers, as well as a Chinese tea set. And I'll invite people over for the best tea party EVER. I bought a box of pure peppermint because I get headaches often and peppermint helps a lot with that.

Just so you guys know, I've had the peppermint tea a couple of times and it's out of this world. You're instantly relaxed and all pain melts away. You need to be sitting when you're drinking this.

I also bought a box of pure chamomile because they're great with those feminine cramps. Add some honey and lemon juice, and you're good to go.

On our way out of the UK and towards France, Mary Poppins was out to greet people! There was only 1 kid in line, so of course, I got in.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v452/YukiPhnx/events%20and%20vacations/WDW%202010/DSC00188.jpg

I told her that my mom's name is Mary and she said, "Well, she must be just lovely!" I love Mary Poppins. The CM was really pretty!! And so sweet.

On our way to France!
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v452/YukiPhnx/events%20and%20vacations/WDW%202010/DSC00189.jpg

My first time crossing this bridge. I didn't see much of WS on my last trip at all.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v452/YukiPhnx/events%20and%20vacations/WDW%202010/DSC00191.jpg

Here is where we FINALLY found our first photopass photographer. Here's a shot I asked her to take with our camera. Which wasn't easy if you remembered the camera trouble I told you about earlier.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v452/YukiPhnx/events%20and%20vacations/WDW%202010/DSC00192.jpg

I only bought 2 shots from the few photopass pictures we took. This is one of them. Definitely one of my favourites.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v452/YukiPhnx/events%20and%20vacations/WDW%202010/20758760000.jpg

After those photos, we went inside to check out the stores. I kind of wanted to go into the perfume store, but I knew Andrew would not be kosher about that, so we went into the wine store next door. There was so much to look at! We're not much wine drinkers, but we still appreciated it. We decided to do the wine tasting. $20 for three 2oz. glasses of our choice.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v452/YukiPhnx/events%20and%20vacations/WDW%202010/DSC00193.jpg

We decided on the pinot noir, the cabernet, and the rose d'anjou.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v452/YukiPhnx/events%20and%20vacations/WDW%202010/DSC00194.jpg

I found out that I'm not a fan of cabernet. The pinot noir wasn't chilled, so it could've been better. I fell for the rose though. LOVED IT! It had such a great flavour. Light, but sweet. It would go well with a lot of foods. So I bought a bottle and had it sent to Pop. It's now my special celebratory wine.

Our server was really awesome. Canada is a bilingual country, so I had mandatory French classes up until gr.9. Unfortunately, I haven't retained much of it. We spoke a little to the servers and it was just fun to "practice" a little.

We took a look at the rest of the store, then headed out to get Andrew a grey goose slushie. He chose the orange flavour. We didn't have time to take a picture cause it was SOOO yummy it was gone within minutes. One of my favourite drinks so far.

We went back in to get the passport I made for Andrew signed and stamped at the kidcot station. I decided to make him one because I wanted the CMs to wish him a happy birthday in their own languages, and I didn't feel like paying $10 for something I can easily make and personalize.

After kidcot, we took a look inside the bakery. A lot of foods looked SO GOOD. Especially the croissant sandwiches. I made a note to get lunch here on my next trip.

On our way past Chefs du France, we saw a CM run up to us. It was our server from the wine store! I had left my video camera on the wine tasting counter *facepalm*. He told me how glad he was that he found me. We thanked him over and over again. I made a note that his name was Alexis and have already sent an email about him. I don't know what I would've done if I had really lost it! By the way, my video camera is named Jerry.

Up next, Morocco!
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v452/YukiPhnx/events%20and%20vacations/WDW%202010/DSC00195.jpg

And surrounding views.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v452/YukiPhnx/events%20and%20vacations/WDW%202010/DSC00197.jpg

I looked at the times guide and noticed that Aladdin was scheduled to appear in 15 mins. We decided to look around the shops and get into line for a picture. I started feeling a little faint, so we made a stop at the Tangerine cafe and rested a bit. Andrew went up to the counter to get me a cup of ice water.

While he was away, I remembered that this was one of the places my siblings and I ate at on our last trip. The only difference was, it was empty! On our last visit, it was filled with people, but that's because it was POURING outside. It's actually really nice when it's not raining.

Andrew came back with this.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v452/YukiPhnx/events%20and%20vacations/WDW%202010/DSC00198.jpg

He said he asked for ice water, but they looked at him funny and gave him a cup of water...and a cup of ice. HAHAHHAHAHA! That just cracked us up. We brought a wide neck water bottle, so we filled that up with ice and drank the cold water. I wasn't feeling too great at this point. It was 4:45pm and I thought I had a heat stroke. Thank goodness for my mister fan.

We sat there some more, just chilling and listening to Mo'Rockin. When I felt a little better again, we headed into the stores.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v452/YukiPhnx/events%20and%20vacations/WDW%202010/DSC00200.jpg

I love showing that photo to people and asking them where they think it is. Almost nobody thought it was Disney. Just another sign of the great theme work that the imagineers do.

When we walked up near the kidcot station, CM Halima noticed that I didn't look so good cause I was starting to black out a bit and couldn't stand up. She offered me her seat at the table because they had a fan. Again, we thanked her over and over. I just love WDW and their wonderful CMs. After I sat for a bit more and drank a LOT more water, we got our passport sign and decided to look for Aladdin.

Well....we found him and Jasmine outside the pavilion, with a line up of at least 20 kids and their parents. As much as I LOVE Aladdin (favourite Disney movie ever), it just wasn't worth it. Aladdin didn't look that cute anyways. Jasmine was VERY pretty though. I couldn't help but yell out, "I love you Aladdin!!!!!!" as we passed them by. Everybody turned to look at me and Jasmine pretended to be jealous.

At this point, Andrew pointed out that I was TOTALLY drunk. I denied it and kept calling it a heat stroke. I've had heat strokes before and this felt a LOT like it! I'm not drunk!!

We made our way to the oriental land of Japan. I just wanted to make a note that China and Japan are on very bad terms. In fact, there's a lot of hate going on between them right now because of the Sankaku Islands. When I was little, there were only two backgrounds my mom told me I couldn't marry. Africans and Japanese. Yeah....no love at all.

Unfortunately (or maybe not?) for her, I became a HUGE anime fan. I took Japanese lessons and even my name is Japanese! It means snow. No, I wasn't born with this name. After my parents and I immigrated here from China, I realized how hard it was for people to remember my real name, Ban Hing. So....being the Japanophile I turned into, I named myself Yuki. It's my preferred name and just a heck of a lot easier to remember. Because of it, I get asked a lot if I'm Japanese.

Moving on!

I just love the trees here. It's so authentic! It looks like it's straight out of a Japanese painting.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v452/YukiPhnx/events%20and%20vacations/WDW%202010/DSC00201.jpg

We never made it in here, so it's a must visit on my next trip.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v452/YukiPhnx/events%20and%20vacations/WDW%202010/DSC00202.jpg

The kidcot stop is right in front of one of the entrances to Mitsukoshi, so I took advantage of the seats here and sat down. I was starting to get dizzy again. I tried to speak to the CMs here in Japanese, but they only responded in English when I spoke Japanese to them, which was a real bummer. I was able to read the message they wrote for Andrew though! So I was real proud of that.

I read about the Spirited Beasts display on Allears and it's connection to anime, so I HAD to take a look see.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v452/YukiPhnx/events%20and%20vacations/WDW%202010/DSC00206.jpg

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v452/YukiPhnx/events%20and%20vacations/WDW%202010/DSC00208.jpg

I was VERY disappointed to not see Sailormoon here. She IS the moon rabbit! Her name is rabbit of the moon (in Japanese). Her story came from this legend.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v452/YukiPhnx/events%20and%20vacations/WDW%202010/DSC00210.jpg

These seats are REALLY comfortable. How do I know? I laid down on them for about 5 minutes.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v452/YukiPhnx/events%20and%20vacations/WDW%202010/DSC00207.jpg

Ok, I admit, I'm drunk.

We went out to the kakigori stand and got a honeydew flavoured one. I love honeydew, and it's green!!! I'm not sure why I didn't take a picture of this. How un-Dis of me! I was too busy enjoying it. Sooo yummy! Normally, I'm not a fan of shaved ice, but this kakigori is so finally shaved. I'm very tempted to go buy myself a kakigori machine. But where would I find the honeydew syrup? While I enjoyed my kakigori, Andrew had some sake. He wouldn't let me have any....but I LOVE sake!

Before we got the kakigori, I considered just heading back to our hotel at that time. We could tour the rest of WS on another trip. I was feeling that bad. But after the kakigori, I changed my mind. Might as well finish WS. Hooray for kakigori!!! I love saying it. Kakigori kakigori kakigori!

Lesson number 5. Honeydew kakigori solves everything.

Up next: World's best mustard. It's even better cause we're drunk.

Hey Kels! My bad for not being around much.

Yeah, when it's all empty like that, you're just not sure what to do. There weren't any CMs around!!

MMMmmm, I'm dreaming about those fish and chips now....

Haha, when you're old enough to go without our family, you can watch those movies! It's definitely pretty cool.

Awww, we were in the same park on the same day, at the same places around the same times!! How is it we didn't see each other AT ALL??? :sad2:

Oh, Lia don't apologize! I've been missing on the boards for a while too. All that matters is that you're here. I've started to watch Boardwalk Empire! I just love the theming, the costumes, and the sets on that show.

I think it's so weird that the legal drinking age down there is 21 when you can drive a car at 16! There are so many good drinks at WDW.

I cracked up when that kid corrected Andrew! He cracks me up all the time with his mispronunciations. It's not very nice of me, but I love him!

I can almost taste the fish and chips in my mouth.....I can't wait to have some more!

You've never seen the Canada movie AT ALL??? Well, that's good cause you'll be treated to the newer one. The old one was really......old.

Yeah, beaver butt the soap. We couldn't smell it through the plastic.

It's ok sister, I've got a great AK day to talk about too! Which I'll probably get to in.....many many more months.

:rotfl2: Yuki, you got that drunk just from the wine tasting? That's hilarious!

So, it was when you shouted "I love you Aladdin!" that Andrew diagnosed what your problem was?

You sound a little tipsy while you're writing that update, ending with "Kakigori kakigori kakigori!"

Great photopass picture, by the way. :thumbsup2

I'm usually not such a lightweight, I swear!!! It's because it was very hot and sunny and I didn't have much solid food in me. I can hold my alcohol.....

I think it was a combination of that and some belly dancing that may or may not have been performed by a certain someone.....

MMmmmm, I love kakigori. It was around 4 when I wrote that update, and I don't believe in drinking before.....oh wait.....I drank before 4 when I was in WS....hm...maybe THAT'S why I got drunk. My body isn't used to drinking that early in the day? I guess I need to train for my next trip....

Yeah, I really love that photopass. We were both smiling with teeth and the wind was blowing my hair just right! Man, those photopass photos sure are pricey.

I love the peppermint tea too! The Chai Twinings tea is also good. Sake is A-mazing. It's my and DBF's newfound alcoholic beverage of choice. We especially like it warm. Some day we'll find a nice sake set with the little cups so we can enjoy it at home as well. You're drunken adventures sound like fun. Perhaps the same thing might happen to us during F&W.... both Bubba and I are quite the lightweights :rolleyes1

Omg, you're leaving in 4 days!!!! I'm so jealous! It's been getting so cold and windy here lately.

A friend of mine at Sheridan Oakville said she would make me a sake set.....2 years ago....I'm going to assume she forgot. Yeah, warm sake is just perfect when it's cold.

I want to hear of drunken adventures!!!

Hi folks! School's about to get crazy soon, so I won't be around much. Just wanted to let y'all know that my best friend recently returned from a trip to WDW (and Food and Wine, I'm so jealous), and was there when they released Duffy the Disney Bear!!!!

So here's my Duffy! He's saying hi to the DIS and wearing the red scarf I knit for him.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v452/YukiPhnx/Duffy/SSPX0189.jpg

He's also wearing swim goggles that I'll be turning into aviator goggles, a white t-shirt that my mom gave me about 3 years ago for no reason cause I didn't have a bear at the time, and a dinosaur sillybandz on each wrist!

Andrew named him McDuff, So he's Duffy McDuff. My best friend got herself a Duffy too that I also made a scarf for. I'm planning on making the Duffys aprons. McDuff will be getting a Mickey apron and her Duffy will be getting a white one with blue details. I'm so excited!!!

McDuff is going to be a pirate for Halloween. I'll have pictures of that when the time comes.

In other news, this past weekend, my best friend and I and our DBFs got together to make Le Cellier's cheddar cheese soup!!! I'll be putting up a post about that as soon as she emails me the pictures.

That's it for now folks!

Haha, I loved you got tipsy in Epcot! I once got a little drunk after drinking the lapu lapu at Kona- I couldn't finish it because it was too strong for me. I walked around MK like this :faint: for a while. Lol.

Duffy McDuff is so cute! I had no idea who he was until the thread about the new Duffy meet and greet popped up on the Dis.

Hahahaha, wow, that Lapu Lapu sounds like good stuff! I think I'll bring up my tolerance before my next trip to Epcot. I really want to try more drinks!

I knew about Duffy since an article in Allears about him in Toyko Disneyland. I've been wanting a Duffy since! I'm so glad they brought him back to North America.

So my best friend Anndrea just came home a week ago from WDW. I didn't realize until a couple of days before she was leaving that she was going to be there for the Food and Wine Festival!

I told her that if she came home without trying the cheddar cheese soup at the Canadian booth, I would slap her. Seriously. So of course, that was the first thing she tried.

SHE LOVED IT!!! I'm super glad she did. I've still never had it, but I can kind of imagine it. She came home and wanted to make it herself. So this past weekend, I went over to her place and we made the soup together per Allears' recipe.

Here are all the ingredients all laid out. Sans the celery cause I'm allergic.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v452/YukiPhnx/DIS/etcetera029.jpg

Andrew was cutting up chicken bacon pieces (her DBF didn't eat pork), I was chopping up the carrots into little bitty pieces, and her DBF was grating the cheese.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v452/YukiPhnx/DIS/etcetera031.jpg

The recipe called for white cheddar, but she couldn't find any, so she got mozza instead. I'm not sure if there was much of a diff since I've never had Le Cellier's soup.

I'm cooking up the veggies and bacon in the huge pot!
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v452/YukiPhnx/DIS/etcetera034.jpg

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v452/YukiPhnx/DIS/etcetera033.jpg

Anndrea hates onions, but she doesn't mind it at all in this soup! She's the type to pick out every little piece of onion if there's any in her fried rice, it's crazy. Ahh, the power of cheese soup.

Et voila! I cooked up the soup while she made sandwiches for us.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v452/YukiPhnx/DIS/etcetera035.jpg

Of course, I can't forget the Canadian thumbs up.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v452/YukiPhnx/DIS/etcetera037.jpg

The soup was really yummy. It got burnt a bit, so that flavour seeped through, but over all, it was a very yummy soup. It was interesting that it was the consistency of potato soup! I definitely liked the chewy bits of veggies and bacon in it, but I hear Le Cellier's soup is much smoother.

Here's our two Duffys hanging out. McDuff is the naked one. How appropriate for her Duffy to be in the Canadian outfit while we made the Canadian cheese soup.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v452/YukiPhnx/Duffy/67283_723673237591_172005688_42316704_5423725_n.jp g

And here's us with our Duffys.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v452/YukiPhnx/Duffy/etcetera039.jpg

We're definitely going to give it another try and hopefully it won't be burnt this time.

Has any of you ever tried out the Disney recipes? How'd they turn out?

Thanks for sharing your domestic side with us Yuki!

I've made the carrot ginger soup from Boma a number of times (yes me, not my wife, 'cause she doesn't really care for it) and it turns out great. I've actually started to tweak the recipe because I think it's a little too bitey with the amount of ginger they have you use. But anyway, it's actually really easy.

I'm actually very domestic. I have this thing where I'm convinced that my parents raised me to be a house wife. I can cook, bake, clean, iron, do laundry, knit, sew, and take care of babies (ie. feed and change diapers). :thumbsup2

Oooh, I really liked that soup from Boma. I think I'll give that a try next.

Hi Yuki! I'm finally caught up!:goodvibes I love that your day at Epcot turned out great without the touring plan! I'm a little confused about the drunk thing - a wine tasting and part of a slushy? Did I miss something? :confused3I think it was the heat. I'm glad you cooled off and got lots to drink.

How fun for you and your friends to make the cheese soup! It looks delicious. I tried some Disney recipe once, but to tell you the truth I don't remember what it was, but I do remember being disappointed in my efforts.

Looking forward to more! Come and join me on my cruise TR! pirate:

Yeah, I'm very sure it was the heat too. I can usually handle a lot more liquer before becoming delirious.

I love the Food Network! One thing I haven't really tried is BBQ-ing, but I love License to Grill.

And thanks about my headband! I'm OBSESSED with these. I wear one every day and have a drawer full of them. There are so many cute ones!
