Hi everyone!
So, I just got engaged a couple of days ago to my boyfriend Nick:lovestruc:love:
And right after he proposed, I IMMEDIATLEY said to him that we were going to have our wedding in Walt Disney World.
AND HE AGREED!:cool1::goodvibes:):banana::yay:
I'm going to need help with basically everything else during this wedding planning process, so if you have any ideas, let me know!
Thanks!:hug::)

just thought I didn't need this post because we're still up in the air about a reception location-sorry everyone!:confused3:sad2:

So, I've been having some doubts on where I picked the reception to be. I picked Disney's Rock 'n' Rollercoaster Starring Aerosmith Courtyard originally, BUT, after looking at the Terrace de Fleurs, Italy Isola, and the Eau De France, I'm considering changing my location.
What do you guys think? Should I change it?
ALSO!!!
Nick and I have settled on the date of our wedding, but we're still not sure of the year, considering the fact that Nick is currently in flight school. We want our day to be sometime in May.
PS- IF ANYONE HAS NOTICED, I'M VERY NEW AT THIS PLANNING JOURNAL THING AND ALSO NEW TO THE BOARDS (KINDA LOL) BUT ANY HELP ON THE JOURNAL WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED. THANKS IN ADVANCE! :)

Welcome to the boards & congrats!!
I think when choosing locations you should consider, your theme/colors...what style are you trying to achieve? Also, your might consider your budget...Let me know if you need any help?:thumbsup2

Thank you! :)
Well, at the moment I'm up in the air with themes and colors..when I looked at the beach ceremony at the GF online, the colors in the set up were pink and brown. I really like those colors, however, I'm still wondering if I can get them changed to like a pool color and brown. I'm very open to colors and themes at this point until I can get down to WDW and go to the Bridal Studio with Nick.
And of course, the budget. I looked at the prices online and I'm looking to have my wedding during the week, considering it's the lowest price. Nicks family is also willing to split the cost of the wedding.
Oh, and congrats on your engagement and have fun planning as well!:cool1:

Maybe for a theme, you can use your favorite destination, maybe do a beach theme or even use each others heritage for inspiration.

That's a really good idea- a beach theme!!!! I'm starting to think- "Lilo and Stitch" inspired??? (Stitch is both one of our favorite characters, I have plenty more lol!)

Very cute, you can make it a hawaiian theme and bring in Lilo & Stitch for entertainment. I would find out if you can have the reception somewhere at the Polynesian Resort?
You can go two ways with the colors scheme, muted tones (baby blue, brown, silver and/or gold) or tropical colos (bright pink, orange, green).
Some Ideas

so, I decided to go with a hawaiian beach wedding theme. I saw a cute idea online that instead of going to the wedding in a long dress and a tux, the bride and groom can go in a bikini and swim trunks. Now, I would like the colors to be tiffany blue and white, however, I understand that it's not really a hawaiian color. I would also like it if lilo and stitch could possibly make an apperance at our wedding.
Let me know if you have any ideas on colors!
oh and ps- i want my bikini to say either bride, or mrs. ricthman on the butt. let me know if you have any ideas on where i can get it done or any websites!

so, since i never got to post how we met and the engagement story, i would like to post it now. :)
How we met: when i was a sophmore in high school and nick was a junior, this girl who didn't get along with me gave nick my number (don't ask why?). a couple of days before new years eve 2005, nick called me. at first i thought, "alright, who's playing a prank joke on me saying their some guy named nick??" then, we stayed on the phone for almost 3 hours that night. he said to verify himself, he would take me out ice skating. so i met him at the ice skating rink and we're going on 5 years this december.
Engagement Story: nick was at my apartment, and he looked really really nervous. so i said to him, "what's wrong?" he said "have something to give you." he explained to me that the actual gift didn't come in yet (in fact i'm still waiting for it, nicks calling today:confused3) but this is just a "place holder" until it does. so he just took it out of his pocket, got down on one knee, and proposed!
i'll put pictures up of the "place holder" later, and of course, the actual ring (when i get it)

As for the hawaiiain colors I'd say like a fuschia or a nice pink, orange, and certain shades of blue, maybe like ocean blue would look really pretty! As for websites..this is one that you might find your bikini http://www.advantagebridal.com/ and here's another one... http://www.exclusivelyweddings.com/Weddings/Wedding-Accessories/Bridal-Accessories/Honeymoon-Accessories

So, as of right now, we changed the place. We changed it to SBP. I am NOT happy with this change. However, it's not set and stone and still changeable. Hooray!
As for the date, we're still not sure because of flight school. Nick claims we can do it end of 2011/beggining 2012, but he's still not sure. :confused3
Oh, and I forgot to mention it's a Wishes wedding. :love:

YAAAHHHHOOOOO:cool1::banana::woohoo::yay::cheer2:: dancer:party:
Ceremony:Yatch and Beach Club Beach
Reception:American Adventure Rotunda/UK Dessert Party\
Now I know the reception location doesn't seem like it will fit the theme, HOWEVER, we want to try and make it work because we love AAR so much.
And here are some of my dress ideas..I would like me dress to be short:

Hello and Congrats!!!!
I love your theme! I would definitely suggest throwing a pink or orange into the scheme to give it that tropical look or a green but I would only use those as the accents :)
I LOVE AAR! I wanted to have our reception there so badly but it had to be at night and had to be 100 people so i had to back out :(
Cant wait to read more popcorn::

Every bride has the absolute right to decide the style details of her wedding and I am truly truly not trying to be a control freak, but...
Do you really believe that a bikini reception and the American Adventure Rotunda are a good match? The rotunda seems so formal. These two concepts really , in my humble opinion, do not mesh. But I could be totally wrong. just a thought. :teacher:

Hey everyone!
Sorry I haven't been on in SO long, there's been a ton going on with my family like I've previously mentioned.
As for the wedding planning, we are debating a location (again) and a DATE!!! :cool1:
For the date, we're thinking around May/June 2012. Since it's beach themed, we want it during a summer month, but we don't want it to be excruciatingly hot during our wedding. Any ideas would be helpful!!!

so now i am debating EVERYTHING. theme, place, time, day, location, AHHHHHH!!!!! :mad::scared1:
here's where all the stress starts:
so DF says that we can get married in late 2011-or any time in 2012. so i suggested lets have our wedding may 2012. then DF comes out with this (and i quote)- "uhhhh, well, uhhhh, i really wanted a winter wedding during the holidays."
WHAT?!?!?!??!:mad::mad::mad::mad:
he said his favorite season is winter, and he really wants one then. ughhhh.
this completley ruin MOST plans.
what should i do?!?!?! i mean, i really like the winter theme too, and it might be too crowded if i do it in the summer..
HELP PLEASE!

Well I haven't really figured out to many details but I was thinking what if you combined both your themes? Maybe do like a winter in paradise theme. Combine elements from both. Like for example you had wanted like the bikini idea. What if you still wear them but have like a jacket unzipped over them or something like that. Idk if I'm making sense but I'm just thinking something about combining two opposites might be cute.

Hi, just joining in! As for the beach and winter theme problem, along the lines of what furturemrs.b said, you can do a blizzard beach type theme(one of the water parks at Disney). It's a really cool park if you haven't been. You could get ideas from the theme park, so it's winter, beachy and disney all in one! hope that helps! :thumbsup2

Even better Christmas in paradise. Palm trees with lights on them or a lil snow. Lil sunburned penguins.:rotfl: Don't mind me I just luv penguins. I think they're 2 cute and I was thinking of them in the movie Madagascar. Maybe for favors have like a little box decorated like a Christmas gift and in there it could be something beach themed. Just ideas.

Maybe you should look at the week after thanksgiving. It's usually the least crowded and cheapest time to go to Disney and you won't have to pay double for a DJ like you would in December.
Maybe you could give the hawaiian/beachy theme a twist and think Elvis/50s hawaiian christmas. It could work with your love of Lilo & Stitch.
Dolly Thicke is a dress designer that does 50s style short dresses. (And they're pretty decently priced :banana:) She even does custom work. http://www.dollycouture.com
I can't help but think of Egg Nog with little paper umbrellas sticking out at your reception. :rotfl:

Hi!
We were doing a winter Beach wedding, it's never truly winter in Florida, LOL, so I say stick with the beach theme!
haha yeah. I think were gonna go with like a "Christmas in Paridise" theme.
:rotfl:
We were looking the week after thanksgiving because we've been down there at that time and it's DEAD. we love it, and it deffinitley is lower priced:thumbsup2
And, like I previously mentioned, we are going to do a "Christmas in Paridise" theme. Maybe morning ceremony, lunch, MVMCP?
