Jason and Laurens Aussie DFTW PJ November 1st 2011 Wishes SBP/Marvin Gardens/Morocco Ok so its finally time to start my planning Journal. I have been lurking on these boards for a few years getting lots of ideas so now its my turn to help others out. not sure if anyone will read it or comment on it but i could use some help. We are about 14 months out but being we are all the way in Australia It takes a little more time to get things organized.
So First things first I will Introduce us. This is my DF Jason and I (Lauren) on our last trip to America in February 2011.
We did the Segway tour.

And here is a nicer one of us.

Ok so on with the show.
Engagement story:
Jason and I started dating in 2006. we had know each other for a couple of months before as he used to drive my flatmate and I into town on a Saturday night so we could go drinking.... Well after a couple of months we started talking and found out we had a lot in common. so one night I came to visit Jason and his house and we just sat talking for hours until about 3 am I think and that’s where our relationship started.
Well when my flatmate found out that we were dating she kicked me out of our house.
So Jason says to me why don’t you move in with me and I was a little hesitant as we had only been dating one month. But I had no where else to stay on short notice so I moved in and as Jason said we will move in together eventually. and ever since then we have been inseparable.
So fast forward o our 2009 America trip. I had no idea Jason had purchased an engagement ring we had spoken about getting married but Jason was always a its just a piece of paper man. So I just presumed it would be years and children before we got married.
So we are in Las Vegas on a day trip to the Grand Canyon Being Aussies we wore shorts. Well us not thinking it was winter and it was snowing and Freezing at the top of the Canyon. We were walking along and DF says "God its beautiful up here" and I said "Yeah"" and he says "Just like you" now at this stage I had all types f things running through my mind like OMG its over, What's he done he is trying to suck up for, lost of different things. and I look at him and He gets down on one knee and says "That’s why I have chosen this place to ask you to marry me" Well I just burst into tears and say really and he says is that a yes?? I yell of course it’s a yes and with that we were engaged. (he later told me he was going to put the ring in a snow ball but knowing me I would throw it off the canyon then there goes he ring.... lol
Here is us after we were engaged

http://i808.photobucket.com/albums/zz7/mareeld86/GrandCanyon140.jpg
and my ring.
http://i808.photobucket.com/albums/zz7/mareeld86/GrandCanyon141.jpg
OK so fast forward 2 years and another trip to Disney later and we decided 22 October 2011 is the date. but the big question was Do we get married here or do we go to Vegas and elope??
Due to family issues..... We had to decide what we were doing. Well I had no Interest in planning a wedding because I knew my day would be overshadowed by someone else. So I said to Jason maybe we should elope well Jason is fine with this and I'm quite surprised because I know his mum wont be able to afford to come. (she has some health issues.) I speak to my mum and she is all for another trip to the states. So we decide we are getting married in America the next question was where.

Well after some tooing and froing between Vegas and WDW I managed to persuade my DF that WDW was the way to go. We would be honeymooning there anyways so we could do it all at once. He is now just as excited as I am.

We have decided on Pop because that's where we will be staying for some of our holiday. And I like the look of the board walk but I'm not sure because its kinda expensive. Any Suggestions would e greatly appreciated.:confused3

I didn't know you'd already started a PJ!!

It's so hard organising everything from here, I always thought a wedding was a wedding, no matter what country you're in, but it just seems to be done a little bit differently in the states compared to here.

Looking forward to hearing more.

We are getting married at Sea Breeze point, Reception at Marvin Gardens at the Boardwalk so our guests don't have to walk to far after the ceremony.:rotfl2:and then we are at Morocco for our dessert Party I am so glad I have decided on all the places because I was having a hard time deciding on a reception location.

OK so we got some info about room blocks today and we are thinking its cheaper to see if a dining discount/Free dining comes out for our guests rather than to book the room block price.
Anyone have any suggestions on this??
Thanks

OK so I kinda feel like I am asking myself these Questions because no one is answering!! Well on the plus side my mum is off to America today she isn't going to Disney world though she is going to Disneyland...:cool1:
And on another note I will be planning the wedding with not a lot of help as my partner has just gotten a contract to work on the other side of Australia and I will only see him for 1 week every so often...:scared1:

Ouch, my DF is working a couple of hours away at the moment, so I only get to see him on weekends, that's hard enough. I can't imagine what it would be like to be in your shoes!

So where's he working?

As to the room block, I'm currently booked under our wedding discount, however I am expecting to get cheaper prices as the time gets closer. I've made my guests aware of this, but they still have the option of booking through the wedding discount, so they know it's done. This way we'll also get the complimentary night.

DF will be working in Karratha in the mines we found out its 4 weeks on 1 week off! so I will see him every 4 weeks!:headache:

Hey what a coincidence, my DF is helping to set up a new mine in Muswellbrook, but that's only 3 hours from here so still not comparable.

But on the brighter side, those jobs pay a fortune!

OK so I think I have found some shoes now i just need to find them in my size and somewhere that's ships to Australia for a decent Price.
They are callled Gabriella Rocha Neve:
Teal/Bluey Green Green is my favorite colour so im contemplating green shoes.
http://i808.photobucket.com/albums/zz7/mareeld86/shoes1teal.jpg
White
http://i808.photobucket.com/albums/zz7/mareeld86/shoeswhite.jpg
I think I have changed my mind on my bridesmaid dresses to
They are by Raylia designs
http://i808.photobucket.com/albums/zz7/mareeld86/aaaaRAY_2117L-2.jpg
The colour I like is called sunset its a prett orange colour.
I also am thinking about my welcome bags. Obviously I have to get them from Australia to Florida so they cant have too much in them or it has to be really small items.
I have found the sample site on the internet but its 70 postage to Aus so its really not worth it to buy things from there.
So now i have to scour the shops for sample sized or travel sized items i have founds some but they want a stupid amount for the little container so who know what i will do.
On the up size i think i might either make the tote bags myself or purchase them from Vista print they have some cute designs on there site.

That BM dress is really pretty, plus it would suit everyone!

I'm in the same boat with the welcome bags. I want to do them but we're already going to have too much luggage. I'm considering just getting some stuff while we're over there, because we'll be there a week before the wedding.

Making the tote bags is a good idea. I might look into that too... The other thing you can do is google green bags, or recycleable shopping bags etc. and it's possible to buy quite a few of them for cheap. Then you can get some iron on transfers to make them nice.

I stumbled on some shirts at Big W the other day, and they say "Australian Drinking Team" in green and gold. DF and I are thinking about buying one each for all of the blokes who are going to do the "Drinking Around The World" at Epcot. That's another thing we'd have to get over there though...

I'm not sure if this is possible or not but DF and I were thinking that when we go for our planning session that we were going to pick some of the stuff up there for the welcome bags. I was thinking if maybe they'd be willing to hold them there for you? Or if you could have them shipped there the week before the wedding so it's not extra things you're carrying. Not sure how much shipping might be from Australia. :goodvibes:goodvibes Also the bridesmaid dresses are really pretty. :)

I saw those tops here at Big W too and had a laugh because we thought the exact same thing although there will only be 2 men at the wedding so maybe all us women will have to get them as well and show the blokes how its done....lol:rotfl2:.

On the plus size DF said if he likes the job in WA he said we might be able to squeeze in a week long trip to the USA....maybe a planning session trip!! Im excited but cant get my hopes up!!

I have also decided I am going to give bubbles and petal out for the exit that way we will get a nice combo of both!!

I think I am going to order my Dress from perfect bridal tonight and maybe 2 bridesmaids dresses even though we are not sure if both of them are going to make it I can always keep the other one and have it taken in to fit me!!

I have also decided to make a button bouquet for my flowers as I want to be different and Bring them home.
Damn Australia and there Quarantine laws lol :rotfl2:
I would only have the photos of my flower wouldn't be able to keep them so this way I can have my flowers framed and keep them that way!!
You never know though I absolutely love Gerbera Daisy's so I may end up with those yet!! and my buttons....

Here are a couple of ideas for you that you can make in advance for a "welcome bag" that wouldn't take up much space in your luggage...

1. You can make a water bottle tag (instead of wrapper) in advance and buy a case of water bottles when you get there or you can buy them online at Costco and have them mailed to your hotel. Then place the water bottle tag over the water bottles and that could be item one for your welcome bag.

2. You can make candy bar wrappers in advance and then buy candy bars and double sided tape at Walmart when you get to the states, attach the wrappers to the candy bar and that is thing two for your welcome bag.

3. Make a welcome letter to insert in the welcome bag.

4. Make a door hanger and insert it in the welcome bag.

5. Make a gift tag for the bag.

Since all of these are just paper...they wouldn't take up much space in your luggage and it is really all you would need. All you would have to do (other than get the water, candy bars and double sided tape...look in the office supply section at Walmart and buy the scotch brand with a yellow cover) is assemble the candy bars and welcome bags and that should take 30 minutes.

You can find some examples on this thread in post #12 to give you an idea of what a water bottle tag and candy bar wrapper look like:
http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2469109

Here is an example of a door hanger that I made:

Hi Lauren :goodvibes

I just started reading you PJ and I'm so excited for you. My colour scheme is orange too (well orange lime and turquoise!) and not only that but i am also having a go at the button bouquet. I've decided to add some sparkly brooches into mine as when I started putting it together I got worried that it looked a little childish. I'd love to hear how you get on with yours.

Your gown is gorgeous and I love the choice of bridesmaid dress, can't wait to hear more of your plans. I'm getting married on 5th October next year so we are very close together.

Thanks Dolly I think i might have to do this I was trying to just find a few little toiletry items to go with the welcome packs I just got a bag from Vista Print today but I am not very happy with it so I am trying to find some cheap calico tote bags that i can put some iron on transfers on...
If anyone knows anywhere that I can buy the minimum from and they are not 10 dollars each that would be great!!

I emailed Joe to let him know which hotels we want our room blocks.
But now I have to decide How many per night. I don't know I don't even know who is coming yet!!!

Thanks Bec It reminded me of all the times we have been to the states and the conversation goes
"where you from"
Me "Australia"
Them: "Sydoney"
Me: "No Tasmania"
Them: ":confused3"
Me "You know the little island at the bottom of australia??""
Them" Oh yes"
lol:rotfl2:

I cant tell you how many times I have had that Conversation but it will never beat the look Jason got when he walked into the billabong store at the Universal Hollywood City Walk.
Store Clerk " Can I help you""
And Jason Replys " Nah Im just having a Squiz"
The bloke looked at us like we were Crazy and all I could say was really quickly hes just having a look lol :rolleyes1

lol :lmao: yeah I know, I had to reword a bunch of things during our phone planning session. I think when talking about transport I said something like "Nah let em fend for emselves" and was met with a few seconds of silence then a "I'm sorry?" :rotfl:

Also we used to live in a town called Gunnedah in NSW (tiny little town, shows up on very few maps) any way, someone asked us when over there when I was little where we were from, and my mum answered "Gunnedah" and the person replied "Oh really? Canada? I didn't pick up your accent..." :confused3

Oh by the way. I was at Sam's Warehouse yesterday. Not sure if they have those in Tassie, but I'm sure there's something very similar, and they had these little bottles of shampoo and conditioner, they were maybe 100ml each and were only $2 for the set of 2! I think I'm going to buy a heap of those sets for our welcome bags. It's another thing we have to take over with us, but it's almost a price I can't pass up!

Update:
Ok so I have spoken to Joe today and have done our room block ......What a headache that was!!!:headache:
We have chosen POP, POR, and BW for our rooms Only Because there the three we want to stay in and we know we will fill the 25 nights ourselves!!:rotfl2:
And we Chose our Comp night at the Grand Floridian on the 19th November the night after we get back from our cruise!!!:cool1:
House is still Lonely here DF said he is a bit lonely over in WA too so I said to him we just have to Skype in the morning and the evenings too!lol :sad1:
And on another note DF brother said he may come to the Wedding....
But His partner is the one we have all the trouble with and is the reason we are getting married in the US!! But from what DMIL said It will only be DF brother not his whole family so that may work out ok and we wont have 2 bridesmaids and only one groomsman...

Try ebay for the sanitisers, we bought a 20 pack with delivery for $30, I was hoping to get it a little cheaper, but it was good enough.

Also, try searching sanitiser and sanitizer to get different results.
