<font color=navy>Hi all,

Thought I would share our camping trip with you. I uploaded the pictures - nothing fancy, but the Sierras are so beautiful!

Here's the link... I don't think I could show the pics on the thread:

Our trip to Sequoia w/an afternoon @ Yosemite (http://www.megspace.com/travel/maryjomw/2002_sequoia_01.htm)

Here's a try at a pic ... not sure if it will work

Great to see you and the kids again, MJ. Who is Brandi? Your pictures are wonderful. Love the first one of Hume Lake and as Elaine said, those sunset ones at Cedar Grove are beautiful. Moro Rock view, out over the road, is breathtaking. That meadow reminded me of the field of poppies in Wizard of Oz, LOL. And those trees, gosh they are huge!!!! I liked the horse guide's name. :) 'We backed away very slowly'. :teeth: LOL Absolutely breathtaking at Yosemite, MJ. What is firefall? I can only imagine how these all lookid in person. Thanks for taking the time, MJ, to take and share these. VERY nice.

Ahh, if pics could only convey the smell of the breeze kissed by the pines, the warmth of the sun, the sounds of the bees buzzing around or the gurgling sould of the creek at night ... the exhiliration of feeling a part of nature, even if for only a scant moment in time.... You'll just have to take my word for it. :)

Brandi is a good friend of Kelly's - one of her inner circle of friends. We usually like to take someone who's never been, and give them an opportunity to experience nature first-hand. This time, it was Brandi's turn.

The firefall used to take place at Yosemite, and ended the summer of '68. They used to make a huge bonfire up at Glacier Point, and at a certain time each night, shovel the embers over the side, creating a firefall for the people below. Unfortunately, the hotel that used to be up there caught on fire from one of the bonfires, and burned down, which ended that tradition. I think it was a tradition that would have ended anyway, as Yosemite management strives very hard to keep the park as natural as possible, especially with the huge number of people who visit each year.

.... We're going again at the end of October again, this time with a couple of co-workers and their children. We're renting a cabin up there, and I'm looking forward to their new experience, plus actually sleeping in a bed, as opposed to sleeping bags. :)

I've got a wonderful, relaxed smile on my face just viewing these, MJ.

I lived in California, many years ago and camped in Yosemite many times. I had almost forgotten just how beautiful a place it is.

Thanks so much for reminding me. :D
