SEPTEMBER Pen Pal Letter Swap-Sent/Received/Discussions/Weekly Check In.....

Since everyone did a great job in checking in, as a reward, I am posting the Topic of the Month, and the Twist of the Month. If you were keeping up with the August thread, you might have already caught what the twist is for this month since I had posted it a couple of days ago. Remember, check in weekly-new weeks begin on Mondays, and end on Sundays. Post of all letter arrivals as soon as you receive them, and as you send them out.

September's Topic, and Twists are.......

Topic of the Month-
Use the state of country that your pen pal had written in their previous letter to you, and do some reseach about that place.
You are to list-
*2 foods that you would like to try from that area.
*2 attractions that you would like to visit from that area.
*2 souveniors that you would like to bring home as gifts.


Twist of the Month-
Send your pen pal something edible that your state is known for. Ex. If your state is famous for growing apples, you could send apple chips, or maybe some apple jam. Please be sure to wrap, and label all breakable items well, so we do not have any mishaps along the way. If you need help in coming up with an idea, feel free to contact me.

The best way to stay in touch with this thread is to subscribe to it so that you know when someone posts here. Throughout the month, I may give out information, and other things on this thread that you might need to know. Also, instead of contacting you via a pm, I may contact you here so that I know you are checking in, and getting my messages.

I had someone send me cactus salsa in one of the DIS exchanges. (not good or bad--it was rather bland:rotfl:). My brother used to send me pistachios from the Arizona Pistachio Company.

Navajo fry bread---would not be very good after mailing. Had some at the Arizona State Fair when I was younger. :love:

I got my box, Erin! It came today and I cannot wait to try the peach preserves. Thank you so much! DD wanted to dig in as soon as I opened the box, and she didn't even know yet what was in it! Wouldn't you know, a little storm blew through and our power went out. After about an hour, we decided to head out to eat because it was getting a little hot in the house. I don't know what the temperature outside was but the high for today was supposed to reach 105, if not get hotter. :scared1: We have the ...... on Wednesday night instead.

Nancy- The prickly pear candy looks yummy! I've put it in my fridge to harden up a bit, it didn't like the metal mailbox on a 90 degree day! LOL. I'll send mine out at the beginning of the month I know what I'm doing for a twist, but can't get it until then. The lolly might be a bit adventurous for me, Piper got a huge kick out of it though! :hug:

The prickly pear gummy stuff was pretty "soft" to begin with. And it traveled from here where it was probably 110 when it left, so I can imagine. I was limited to what to send because of the temps.

I received my package Wednesday. It was also in a very hot mailbox and I put the prickly pear candy in the refrigerator. But, only for about half an hour, I was too curious to see what it tasted like. Thank you , thank you DanaUK! I love the tea and shortbread! We all tried one of the cookies last night and they were delicious! Thanks for sending the Harrod's shopping bag too! I used to read Harlequin Romance novels in the late 70's-early 80's and a lot of them took place in London. All the heroines would shop at Harrod's! I can't wait for my next letter! I'm so glad you received the package! I always worry its not going to make it overseas!
I almost typed my letter this month too, but ended up writing it instead. Let me know if you want to trade letters/pictures/info. between our school children. I think it would be a great project if your kids would be interested. My kids, at 4, are up for anything!
