I learned on my last WDW trip that there is a large Hess gas station with mini-mart directly across the street from Pleasure Island. Now, I enjoy a good drink, but I don't enjoy paying over $10 for a 6 pack of Mudweiser or Boors Light. This station has a good variety of beer, plus all the snacks and beverages you could want to bring back to the hotel with you. You just have to take the bus from your hotel to the PI bus stop, then you can simply walk across the street to load up on all the beer, chips, candy, beer, water, cigarettes, and beer at normal retail prices. I've yet to find a walking distance liquor store yet, but I'm working on it.
Here's a handy-dandy map I've drawn up.

There is also a Hess station within walking distance to the Boardwalk resort.
Do you get back on the resort busses with 6 packs of beer? :scared1:

Nope, I got back on the buses with two 12 packs and some chips. I usually go mid afternoon, so that there is less of a crowd on the bus. I've done it several times and the bus drivers have never said anything, except for one guy that said "Just don't open it while I'm driving". Lol

DO check out the location of the Hess station behind the Boardwalk. It is very convenient.

Thanks! This will be helpful since we're not getting a rental car.
Though I shall learn from my Ft. Lauderdale mistake. My husband and I bought way too much at the local store for the one week we were there. On top of that, when we were down by the pool we ended up buying from the pool bar anyway. Who wants to walk all the way back to the hotel room for a rum and coke when there's a banana daiquiri a few feet away?

I agree that umbrella drinks from the pool are quite yummy, but if you go to Target and purchase one of those cute "cooler bags" that look like a beach bag or purse, you can save a trip back to your hotel room for those rum and cokes!
