Disney and Non A-Z Rolodex swaps. see update last page

**Due to the nature of this swap, we want to make sure all participants receive a complete set. If you are unable to complete things, please ask for an angel as soon as possible. I will be requiring the following checkins. If I have not heard from you within 3 days of the check in I will send a PM/Email. If I still do not hear from you within one week of that, I will ask for an angel. Just so we are clear up front. ***

**MAIL BY SEPTEMBER 25**

You will choose a letter and make 26 altered rolodex cards to swap. You can purchase or use any rolodex of your choosing. We will be making the divider cards which measure 2 1/4" x 4". Your letter can stand for a character, a ride, a land, a park, or anything Disney related.

Please make sure you punch out the slots at the bottom (they sell punches for this at Staples). Several of us have the punch and are willing to share. You can either purchase blank cards and decorate over them or cut out from cardstock.

Feel free to use any cardstock or patterned paper that fits your theme. Since a rolodex is not archival, you do not need to worry about acid-free/lignin-free products. You should include at least two types of embellishments or embellishment techniques (such as, but not exclusively limited to: embossing, distressing, inking, ribbons, brads/eyelets, flowers, charms, stickers, die cuts). Only the front needs to be decorated.

Just as the regular rolodex dividers have the letter on a raised tab, you want to make sure the same is the case for yours. You can do that in whatever creative manner you would like. We will be alternating the left-right placement of the letters just like a regular rolodex so note the placement of your tab next to your letter in the signups.

You may sign up for more than one letter if you want more than one set returned to you, but please allow others to sign up for 1 set first. I will open it up to a second spot per person on Monday.




I will also be hosting a simultaneous swap for the address cards that go in the rolodex, but just to save on confusion, that will be in a separate thread.

Once signups are closed, please PM me your name, mailing address, email address and phone number. I will only use the latter two for an emergency, but I must have an alternate way to reach you outside the boards for check-in purposes.

Mailing/packaging instructions: I am pretty sure the 26 cards should fit easily in a priority mail envelope. Please include $4.95 for return postage. Cash, check or a $4.95 stamp is fine. (No click-it/ship-it postage please.) Each individual card does not have to be in its own baggie if you feel they will not be damaged by putting them all together in one large bag. Sometimes they can be tacky or easily snag on things due to 3-D embellishments - in that case please package to minimize damage (wrap in saran wrap or individual baggies). Label the outside of the largest bag with your name and DIS name. You do not have to label the individual cards in any way.
If mailing after the due date please mail priority. And if you want delivery confirmation please send the .70. I will not send it with dc if you have not included that in your return
Postage money.

Yes. Maybe just make a note next to it that if someone wants K, they can have it and just switch Ann to whatever is open instead?

You can keep your snow, thank you!!!!! In June, we were on vacation in Montana and it actually snowed while we were there. We were thrilled. My DS (he's 17) had never seen falling snow before. But, there's no way I want to live anywhere that has snow. I love Florida!!!!!

I live in North Florida and we get season changes. They aren't quite in sync with yours, but we do get them (but no pretty fall trees). Some are just very short and summer is very very very long!

I was going to ask how people file, for doing the address cards. My index cards I have now, I also file by DISname.

Also, I went to Staples and tried to find the punch, but had no luck. I asked a guy and he didn't know anything about it either. Then I tried to google and all I found was a punch to punch business cards so you could put them in a rolodex.

I also found a scut file on CraftEdge but it doesn't look like there are tabs, and I am not sure about the size. Although I could probably modify it.

You don't need "tabs" on your SCAL file, I think we just need to put our letter on either the left or right per the list.

The punch is hard to find, if I remember correctly. It's with the rolodex stuff, but easy to overlook, because it's small. It's just a small black square, kind of flat.

If you can't find one, Hope, I'm happy to mail mine to you for your use.

I woke up this morning thinking about that letter H (If we're taking a 2nd letter) Maybe Haunted Mansion would be a better one to do than Hannah Montana. It's not being looked at by players, but by letters. So, if you have one of the 13 non-Disney letters already chosen, then for each letter you originally chose, you pick a 2nd one and then everyone makes 13 instead of 26. Does that make sense?

DH has his job, we weathered the 2 months of unemployment well, and I was able to re-book the trip I canceled and had already paid for. I spent most of yesterday rebooking my airfare (thank god for southwest credits!) and ADRs. I was so surprised to get Chef Mickey and all 3 princess meals! We leave in less than 2 weeks. I will be a busy busy bee. I have to have all of the trip stuff ready obviously, but I will need all of the school uniforms and sports stuff ready too as school starts the week we get back. Last, I need to get my swaps done.

When 26 people sign up, you make 26. We were hoping for 26. However, I think there will only be 13 for this -- like the ABC page swap. When there are 13 people, you pick 2 letters and make 13 of each.

Forgive me if this is a dumb question, but I've never done this type of swap before.

For the Disney rolodex swap I have letters n and o. I know I'm making 13 of each letter. My question is: Do the 13 cards have to be all exactly the same. For instance for the n I'm doing Nemo. So if I did some designs with Nemo and, say, sea shells on it, and others with Nemo and other fish, is that okay? Or does each of the 13 cards have to be identical.

Just want to make sure I do these right.

We try to keep them the same so everyone gets the same.
But some times the embellishments are different so people don't have to go out and buy more stuff. So I think if you are doing nemo and that's the main part of the card I think it's fine to have fish on some and shells on others.

WARNING!!!!!!!!!!

I used a scal file for the rolodex cards. I clicked on the keep proportions button and sized it to 2.25 x 4. I cut just one and checked it. The holes were not in the right spot. I don't know if I used the same file as this one, but I do suggest that you cut one and test out the holes before you start assembling.

In the end, I just cut out 2.25 x 4 rectangles and will use the punch from staples.

Look in the aisle with the address books/business planner/calendars and rolodex stuff. ONce you find the rolodex stuff, look very carefully for a small square black piece of plastic - -it is a businees card hole puncher that you are looking for. This is a link to a photo of it - -if the link doesn't work, just google "business card hole puncher" and it should come up -- or try Rolodex 67699 Merrick Business Card punch. Once you know what you are looking for, it will be easier to spot. It is much smaller that my scrapbooking punches.

Thanks! I was thinking I may do a search for the Z target from the Buzz Lightyear ride. That will eliminate the similarity. Anyone know where to find this image?

I was just thinking of you today, Susan! How was the trip?

Excellent! Weather was hot, but only one evening with some rain. My youngest was tall enough to ride the 40" rides and loved them (except for ToT which he bailed from line) and we got to open Toontown! So exciting - -I thought the CM meant we would do a countdown and drop the rope. Nope! He took my family into Toontown before it opened. Mickey was waiting for us outside his house. My kids ran down the street to meet him just like a commercial. There was a photopass photograher snapping away. Mickey took us into his house for a tour and then we went into the tent for posed photos with Mickey & Minnie. Afterwards, the boys went to the barnstormer while the CM escorted DD and I in through the back entrance to have a private meet with the fairies (Tink and Rosetta) It was a really magical experience!

I ordered Lilo and Stitch dimensional stickers from JoAnns website. I used them on my 2 inch letters for the character swap--see the slideshow-- Anyhow you get lots of stickers on a sheet and JoAnns always has a sale...maybe they would work. I'm pretty sure they'd be a good size. You could do a palm leaf with the letter "O" on it for the tab. Maybe work in the word "o'hana" somewhere on the card with the sticker. Just an idea for ya.:)
