We just changed our Sept. 22 sailing to this one! I will be sailing with my DH and our DD (3 at sailing time), my parents, my brother, and maybe my grandma. We are soo excited!! It will be everyone's first cruise :goodvibes We will be going to Disney World before the cruise for 5-6 nights as well party:

Congrats on getting married..that will be so amazing to do on the cruise!! We looked into doing a vow renewal onboard since next year is our 10th anniversary, but it was just too much for us right now. Hope you are having a great time planning!

Are you interested in to a FE if we get a group going? I thought it sounded like fun!

I'm so excited to have people to chat with going on the cruise!

You'll have to fill me in on what a FE is (maybe the disboards version of a gift exchange?) ~ I'm brand new to the disboards with Wedding Planning.

Yep, a FE (Fish Extender) is the DisBoard version of a gift exchange..if you search there are lots of ideas for it. I'm hoping more people show up for this thread soon...guess no one wants to cruise in september?? The hurricanes aren't that scary :lmao:

We are crazy excited for the cruise! We are headed back to the World next MONTH but I think I am more excited for the cruise next YEAR!:banana::banana:

Ok, well I have to get back to ADR planning for next months trip..we are crazily doing Deluxe Dining with our 2 year old..needless to say we are going a little Character Dining overboard :rotfl: At least we love them too..we are doing the princesses for us, even if they terrify her again (on our December trip we couldn't get her far enough away from the scary, scary princesses and Santa, however, Mickey and the Gang were her best friends :lovestruc)

Have fun wedding planning!

Wow, a thread started for this portion of our cruise! Awesome! This cruise will be the 2nd half of our B2B. So looking forward to it!
Travelling will be Myself, DH, DS (8 at the time of the cruise), DS (14 at the time of the cruise). My mom and her BF are travelling with us for the 4 day before this cruise. Only DH and I know about this cruise, it will be a Christmas surprise this year for the boys and my Mom and her BF.:)

Possibly interested in the FE exchange. We are doing a Western Caribbean on the Magic in 5 weeks, for Halloween, and once we are back from that one, I can start planning more for this one! :thumbsup2

Hi everyone! I know there are several of us on this cruise doing the Member Cruise afterwards. We are definitely doing a FE Exchange on the member cruise. And I'm hoping we will be doing a FE Exchange on this cruise too, since my kids will be with us on this cruise. (They won't be with on the member cruise, though...didn't want to take them out of school that long)

I'm in charge of organizing the list for the FE List on the member cruise, so I'll just volunteer to keep two lists unless someone else wants to keep it. But I'll get it started and if someone else wants to take it over, that's totally fine by me!

So, for now if you want to join in, send me a PM with your stateroom number and names and ages of all participants. As I get them, I'll post a list on here. It will look like this:

FE Exchange Group:

Luckymomoftwo
Junior (DH)
Debbie (DW)

Good morning everyone! Debbie, if you want to be in charge of the FE list, I'm great with that! I'd like to participate but I'll let you know after Christmas weather that will be a definate. Gotta get through our upcoming Hallween cruise first.

Our B2B is this cruise and the 4 day before, but thankfully like most of you other B2Bers, we too have the same stateroom! That I'm sure makes things much much easier!

And hey, Page 2!! We're ON OUR WAY!!:thumbsup2

LOL, I'll be on this thread more often as I go through Cruise Withdrawl as of next month! About the FE, go ahead and add my family as I just remembered an OT order that is waiting for me at my Aunts in NJ. I've since already put together all my FE's for the upcoming cruise, (I had forgotten about the stuff I ordered from OT), So all THAT stuff, is now extra, that I can use for the Dream Cruise FE's.

So we are Myself (Judy), my DH (Martyn), DS 14(at time of cruise, Daniel) and DS8(at time of cruise, Tim)

We leave in just 18 Days for FLORIDA and our Western DCL Cruise!! :thumbsup2

YAY!!!! Another FE group!!! That's always a nice surprise when you have stuff you forgot about! I miss the Magic....we haven't sailed a 7 night cruise since January 2007. We've been on the Wonder twice since then, one of these days we'll do another 7 night cruise! Maybe on the Fantasy (that one IS doing 7 night cruises, right?)

My name is David and my DW Donna are going on this cruise also. Tjbaggott told me about this new thread for the 3 day cruise. Like Tj and her family this will be a b2b for us also. We are doing the 4 day cruise before this one and then sailing again on this 3 day cruise.:cool1::cool1: Like Tj we will be staying in the same stateroom, so we don't have to pack up all our STUFF between cruises. Looking forward to getting to know all of you, and sharing our excitment about going on the new Disney Dream:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Question: I'm brand new to Disney Cruises. Can someone explain FE in detail? :confused3

I understand its a gift exchange but I'm uncertain on how it works? Either way as its my wedding, I'm not sure we will participate, but I want to know how it works before I make up my mind.

But I can maybe outline an idea of who is coming with me: Me (Aimee - 26) - Fiance (Brent - 24), My mom-stepdad, my dad-stepmom, his mom-dad, a set of grandparents, an aunt-(maybe uncle), and two great aunts. I think. No kids though.

Luckymomoftwo
10-06-2010, 10:40 PM
The way the FE exchange works is you hang an extender on the fish outside your stateroom door (which it is still yet to be determined if the Dream will actually have fish outside the door or not). Then, everyone who has signed up to participate goes around and puts their gifts in everyone else's fish extender. The gifts can be home made or purchased. It can be something from your home town (for example: once we got a little jar of jam because one of the participants lived in a city that was known for their jam) You can bring three small things and pass out one gift each night, or you can just pass your gifts out on one night. It's however involved you want to get in it. Hope that helps!!

Just had to share alittle info with ya'll. Heard from the Social Security office yesterday morning. They received my online application for retiring in January and had a few minor questions I needed to answer. I'm now all set to start drawing my social security next year!!!:cool1::cool1::cool1::banana::banana:
I didn't know they worked on Saturdays but the very nice lady I talked too said that they had alot of people retiring, (us baby boomers), which means the need to work Saturdays to help those like me retiring now get their benfits all setup. I'll still do some part-time work, but, I'M RETIRING!!!!:thumbsup2 DW says she is going to keep working.:confused3 That means I'll be home alone some days!!!!:scared1::scared1::scared1: I'll get into sooooooooooooooo much trouble!!!!:rolleyes1:lmao::lmao: This will give me more time to write to ya'll!!!!!:cool1: (You poor people you!!!!)

tjbaggott - did you ever get ahold of Shutters last year to get the pictures that were not on your CD? http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2325972

I was just cleaning out my subscribed threads and came across that one (I had posted a reply on it).

I think DCL really has to come up with a better way to allow passengers to view their pictures. The system they have now is just not a very good one. I don't like spending valuable vacation time looking at walls and walls of pictures to find my pictures. And not all of my pictures showed up on my KTTW card at those little kiosks. I don't understand why they can't do a "PhotoPass" type system there. I know they do take random pictures, but for the most part if they did a Photopass system it would make most of it a lot easier!

I'm so excited to see a thread for this cruise! I just booked 2 cabins, one for myself and one for my daughter, sil and dgs. It will be the first cruise for dgs, we just came back from his first WDW world trip a few weeks ago and I thought this would be nice for our next trip. We'll be at Pop for 4 days pre-cruise. Almost a year to go and I just can't wait! I haven't read the whole thread yet, but I'll do that now.

Hi Terri

:welcome: aboard. Looking forward to chatting and finally meeting you and your family.

In September we were on the Wonder for the DVC members cruise and then spent a couple of days at WDW. We had so much fun...wish I were still there.

Welcome to all the newbies! Our cruise last fall on the Wonder was Fabulous, and our last Whole family vacation. I have one child off to Collage this year, had him home for our Thanksgving this past weekend, but put him on a plane to go back to school yesterday. My eldest is 19 and is working pretty much full time and is planning on heading off to Collage or University next year. So we now find ourselves a family of 4 instead of 6, but you know what? Everything is SO MUCH MORE AFFORDABLE NOW!!! Yes, there is a bright side to every situation. :)
We only have 9 more days till we leave for our MNSSH Cruise!!!! I'm starting to panic now! I have done only half the stuff I need to do to be ready for this cruise, and time is just passing me by! This weekend, will be Flurry of last minute putting things together, packing ect... I hope to be able to relax for the few days before we leave. Next year getting ready for the Dream should go much smoother, as my boys can help pack their own stuff then. They have NO CLUE about this upcoming Halloween cruise, but they will know about the Dream one, this Christmas!

Luckymomoftwo, as for my photos from last year. Yes I did end up getting them. The shutters people found them based on pictures I sent them of what my boys were wearing in the ones I KNEW I was missing. There might have been others, I don't remember. And yes, I agree, they need a better system. I never used the kiosk as they never seemed available when I was. Not sure what we'll be doing for our Magic cruise in a few weeks. The photo CD I cannot justify the cost of this time around. I have a great SLR camera, but am still learning how to use it. I may just try taking our own photos and hope for the best. Thats the most economical way to do photos (doityourself). But then when you SEE the photos in Shutters, it really is hard to turn them down.

Add me to the list of the jealous! I do hope you have a great time though!

We'd like to participate in the FE, but I don't know our cabin numbers, I booked guarantees. I've been thinking about changing it, but for now it's a guarantee. Saved a little money doing it that way but I think not knowing will eventually get to me! My TA said I wouldn't find out what cabins we're in until about 6 weeks before the cruise.

Our cruise for this Halloween, we also had booked GTY. I'd have to look up the post on my meets thread to find out exactly how far out we got our assignment, but it was around the 6 week mark, give or take. Something rings a bell with just before the 35 day mark. I tell you, I was like a kid waiting for Christmas! Each morning I awoke, I'd rush to turn on my computer and log into DCL to check and see if we'd been assigned a stateroom. I was THRILLED to see it that first morning it was posted, and even more thrilled to find out the location! We'd put in a request with our GTY that we be midship. Deck didn't matter, just midship, and thats what we got, as well as being on a deck that the majority of the FE particpants are on (that will make delivering EASY PEASY!) Does anyone know their show time assignment? I've been reading a lot about that on the main board. I didn't know it would that way. I'll email my TA on Monday and ask what show time we've been assigned to . We did get main dining, I think, but I'll check into that. Also for our Dream cruise, I would have booked GTY except we are doing a B2B and I wanted to be CERTAIN, we'd have the same stateroom for both cruises.

I'm actually getting married during the cruise - on Castaway Cay. It is WDW style - through the Disney Fairy Tale Weddings. (Well technically you get married as soon as you get on the ship in a civil ceremony - but that doesn't count) ;) The ceremony itself will be at 10ish in the morning somewhere on the beach. We also have to have a Bahamian marriage license (and a Florida marriage license) so we get two weddings.

Planning is fairly simple, I get a choice of a) b) or c) and just have to show up. The only hard choice is who is going to walk me down the aisle (or I may go alone). So look for me Saturday 9/17/11, I'll be the one in the wedding dress. :bride:

Ok........ok.......ok DW and I go away for a couple of days and new cruisers come aboard and weddings are in the plans on Castaway Cay.........we missed out on sooooooooooooooo much new info!!!:confused3

Well, let me say :welcome::welcome::welcome: to all of the new cruisers joining us. (Even though I'm like way too late!!!)

I'm sure by now all of you have seen or heard about the new Disney sail dates. Disney didn't go beyond August of 2012 as of yet. DW and I prefer to sail in the fall months..........September or October. So I guess we will have to wait for them to announce beyond August to make our plans for sailing on the Fantasy. Maybe even book while we are on board the Dream. But more then likely we will book as soon as they announce for August and the rest of 2012. Are any of you looking to sail on the Fantasy? Just wondering.

Well, I can see by the ol' clock on the wall it's time for me to get back to work. All have a great day!!!

Disney Dream leaves building dock

Disney’s first cruise ship nearing completion – Largest ever ship built by Meyer Werft

Papenburg, 1.10.2010 - On Saturday, 30 October 2010, the Disney Dream, the biggest cruise ship built by MEYER WERFT to date, will leave the yard's covered building dock. The floating-out manoeuvre is supposed to commence around 5 pm. The Disney Dream is scheduled to float out of the dock the first time. The event will include a unique celebration to mark the milestone as the ship nears completion.

Upon leaving the building dock the Disney Dream will remain in the yard harbour. On the following Sunday MEYER WERFT’s and Disney Cruise Line’s tests & trials teams will perform functional tests of various technical systems such as the stabilizers and the rudders. Afterwards the cruise ship will remain berthed alongside the yard's pier. In the following two weeks the remaining interior work will be completed, and more trials and acceptance tests will be conducted.

The Disney Dream is the first of two ships MEYER WERFT is building for Disney Cruise Line (USA). She is 340 m long, 37 m wide, and can accommodate as many as 4,000 passengers. Her powerful engines enable the Disney Dream to operate at a speed of up to 23.5 knots. Having a tonnage of 128,000 GT, she is the biggest cruise ship ever built in Germany. Measuring a length of 340 metres, she even counts among the three longest cruise ships in the world.

The ship is likely to leave MEYER WERFT and be conveyed down the river Ems on the second weekend in November. The exact date of the Ems conveyance will be published on www.meyerwerft.com approx. 1-2 weeks in advance.

!Changes to the undocking time schedule or delays due to weather conditions may occur!

Disney to celebrate Air Force Week with parade, Thunderbirds flyover at Magic Kingdom
by
Ricky Brigante www.insidethemagic.net

To help celebrate Air Force Week in Central Florida, Disney plans to commemorate Hometown Heroes at the Magic Kingdom with attending US Air Force Servicemen during the “Celebrate a Dream Come True” parade on Tuesday, October 26, beginning at 3 p.m.

Shortly thereafter, the USAF Thunderbirds will perform a high-speed flyover at 3:15 p.m. Don’t blink or you might miss it!

The United States Air Force Thunderbirds previously flew over the Magic Kingdom and Epcot’s Spaceship Earth on April 7, 2008, the 55th anniversary year for the Las Vegas, Nev.-based air demonstration team.

Monika-that is AWESOME!! I got chills just looking at the pictures! My brother was in the Air Force...we weren't really that close growing up (we fought more than we got along) but whenever he came home on leave we got along really well. So I like to think that the Air Force had a little something to do with that! :goodvibes He would have LOVED to be a pilot but his vision isn't perfect so I don't think he was able to even try to make that a reality. So, now he has his Visual Pilots License through a small airport locally. If he ever wins the lottery I'm sure he'll work his way up to be a pilot with one of the major airlines. That takes big bucks for all the training. :scared1: Anyways, thanks for posting that!

And thanks davidls for posting the picture of the back of the ship!!! Can't wait to take my own picture of it! :thumbsup2

Well GOODBY EVERYONE!!! Not saying that for THIS cruise but because we pack the van tonight and hit the road first thing in the morning to head to our MAGIC cruise!! The air Show in Cape Canaveral is the same weekend that our Cruise sets sail. In fact I'm glad I booked the hotel at CI&S when I did (last Feb) because as of the spring, it was really hard for other Disers to get a room for the same Friday night. I expect traffic in that area to be horrendous too. We were going to spend a leisure Friday at Cocoa Beach, but have now passed on that idea, as it's sure to be a zoo! Will love watching the planes overhead though as we set SAIL!!! WOO HOO!!:yay:

Thank you, David for the info. Just think in a couple of days...the Dream will do the float out. I just hope we will be able to see part of that on the webcam. Not even sure if the webcam in Germany is a live webcam.

How many of you will be going on the AquaDuck..... I am!!!!

Monika, you can count me in for riding on the AquaDuck!!! (Psssssssstttt........I plan on taking several pairs of swimming trunks with me and changing often so the attendant will not recognize me riding the AquaDuck so many times. Good idea huh???!?:banana:) I'm thinkn'.........I'm always thinkn'!!!!:lmao::lmao::lmao:

I just read on here some where that someone was on a tour at Myer Werft where the Dream is being built. After the tour he left then came back to check on where the best place to view the Dreams float out would be. All of a sudden the big door behind the Dream opens up, and he took several photos of the back of the ship. But sadly he doesn't know how to post photo's on the DIS board. But guys, it's getting closer to the Dream setting sail soon for home port - Port Canaveral!!!!:cool1::cool1::cool1:

I hope I can go on the Aquaduck! I can't do the dark tube slides...I get really claustrophobic in those. I'm afraid to breathe in them becaue I'm afraid I'll inhale water. But, I think I'll be ok on the Aquaduck since most of it is clear and I can see if the water is going to splash me in the face. :sad2:

Monika, can you send me a link to the webcam? I closed it down yesterday, thinking I would open it up again today, but I can't find it. Thanks.

Well, I have to go and do my excercises on the ol' torture machine. We have an eplicial machine that my doctor wants me to use as often as I can to keep the ol' ticker in good shape and lose a few unwanted pounds. Well, I have lost almost 30 pounds. Well Monika, we live on the other side of the state of Florida, about 25 miles northwest of Tampa as the crow flies. But thank goodness Florida is not a very wide state. It would take us about 2 1/2 hours to 3 hours to drive over to Port Canaveral from our home. (That's if I'm driving - if DW is driving it would take a little longer!!!) When we are cruising with Disney, what we like to do is the day before the cruise stay at the Caribbean Beach Resort at WDW. Then on the day of the cruise drive over from WDW. This cuts our driving time a little over half. We are going to try and find out when the Dream is suppose to arrive in Port Canaveral and then go over to see her if at all possible. If we do I will get some photo's a post them for all to see.

Hello everyone!!! We are BACK!!!!! Not that I'm tooooo happy to be saying that. Our cruise aboard the Disney Magic was Phenomenal!!!! Several times on Debarkation day, DS7 said "Please mom, PLEEEAAASSSE, take us on the the Dream or on the Magic AGAIN!!!" This coming from the boy who over the summer was telling me again and again, he's never going on another boat or ship again EVER EVER EVER, and I couldn't make him, nope, Noway, NEVER...... Because it might sink". :rotfl2:

We set sail on the Dreams Float out day, and there was NOTHING on board the Magic to highlight or inform us on the happneings :sad2: Oh well.

After our LOOONNNNGGG drive home, I MUST find a way to arrange for us to fly for the Dream Cruise next year. The only thing is, we stopped in St. Augustine on the way home. We stopped specifically for the Disney Outlet store there. AMAZING Place!! They even had cruise line stuff, most items 70% or more off the cost on the ship or in WDW. So we went NUTS shopping and now I realize there are still some items I WISHED I had gotten but didn't, because DH was in a hurry to get back on the road (23 hour drive and all). If we fly down next year, I think it would be worth the cost of renting a car and driving to that Disney Store and back in a day (it's only 2 hours from Cape Canaveral). I still have all this unpacking to do. I also notice that staring at my computer screen is giving me the vetigo feeling I had on the ship (the times the ship went through the gulph stream), WOW, where's my Dramamine?????

I did pick up some gifts for my boys for this Christmas to reveal the DREAM Cruise to them. Because at this point, I think THATS ALL they are getting.
Anyway, now I can start planning for the Dream. It's been fun catching up on this board. Now I'll go check out the 1st half our Dream B2B:thumbsup2

Good morning everyone!

David - that's exciting news that they are ahead of schedule on the Dream. I wonder if they'll do an extra "pre-cruise" for the travel agents before her Maiden Voyage if she is finished earlier than originally planned.

Monika - I was disappointed, too, when the Meyer Werft web cam wasn't showing the Dream. :sad1:

Did you see Terrie's outfits for her Duffy? She got most of them at Build A Bear.

Debbie...I mentioned something to Terrie about the Woody outfit...she told me she got it at Build a Bear...this past weekend, I went to Build a Bear and I bought that outfit for my Duffy. I also bought him a Baltimore Ravens football outfit. We leave for WDW and I will be at Epcot buying more outfits for him. We bought our granddaughter Duffy and her Duffy needs more outfits too. I can't wait!!!! I am a teddy bear lover and collector. I am glad that Disney now has Duffy.

Debbie, not sure if they will have an additional pre-cruise or not on the Dream. But if I see or read something about it I will let everyone know right away.

Monika, DW and I were just over at WDW a few weeks ago. We saw allot of Duffy the Bear and I don't remember how many different outfits they have for him. The big Disney store in Downtown Disney is where we saw the most outfits. Be sure to check that store for your outfits.

Debbie, not sure if they will have an additional pre-cruise or not on the Dream. But if I see or read something about it I will let everyone know right away.

Soon everyone we will be seeing pictures from cruisers that have sailed on the Dream. It's what about 74 or 75 days from her maiden voyage!!!:woohoo:

David...don't know what I was thinking...:confused3...have a good day---at work :scared1:

Hey Everyone :flower3:

Just wanted to jump in here, we booked this cruise 2 weeks ago and are going to be in room 6690 :yay: on the back of the ship.

Wanted to stop in and say hey, this will be our first cruise EVER. We are going on the 3 night to make sure that my motion sickness will be ok on the ship...don't want to book a longer cruise then be stuck in my room throwing up the whole time. I take Bonine to control it and so far with every other vacation it has been great...now for the real test!!

I've been hunting through the DCL board trying to get some good information and get some questions answered. Since this is our first cruise we have lots of them.

Is it next Sept yet? :rotfl2:

:welcome: If you have any questions, ask away on here, too. This will be my 8th Disney Cruise, so I'm somewhat knowledgeable. :thumbsup2

Let me know if you want to participate in the Fish Extender. It's kind of like a secret santa gift exchange. I'm keeping a list of everyone that's participating. :goodvibes If you need me to, I can send you links to some threads that talk about what the Fish Extenders are.

I suffer from motion sickness, too. I can't read in a car, I can't ride in the back seat of a car, I can't go on spinny rides, and I can't go on a cruise without motion sickness meds. I usually get the patch (need a prescription from the doctor) but a LOT of people here on the boards say Bonine and Ginger pills work great for them.

So, where in Indiana are you? I'm in Hobart (NW Indiana)...are you close?

Monika - I THINK the Dream is going to set sail today, but I can't tell if it's at 4:30 or 7:00. And, aren't they 6 hours ahead of Florida time? So that would be 10:30 or 1:00 Florida time, right?

Luckymomoftwo - I'm in Lafayette, so not far from you...just a short ride on 65. I'd love some more information on the FE if you could send me some links so I could see a bit about what it is. Thanks. I was thinking of getting the patch from my doc as a backup in case the Bonine doesn't work. Do you have side effects after you take the patch off as I've heard that is a problem for some people.

As far as the patch...I have used it on 6 of my cruises. My 7th cruise was so smooth I didn't need anything at all! The only side effect I have is blurry vision and then for a few weeks after I get home I feel like I still don't have my land legs back. :rotfl2: (I almost feel like I have vertigo)

Some people have suggested using 1/2 of the patch, I've never tried that though. But, if Bonine has worked for you on other motion sickness issues, it should work for you on the cruise. But I would get the patch as a back up just in case, too!

I check on Myer Werft's webcam on the Dream. Like Monika said there seems to be allot going on. I thought I read somewhere that the Dream is suppose to leave Myer Werft at 4:30. I don't know if that is their time or our time!!!:confused3:confused3:confused3 Guess we will find out soon enough!!

There are tug boats helping her...but it is very dark and now I can't tell whether the tugs are helping or not.

As for seeing her somewhere else...I don't know. If not, we have to wait until she comes into Port Canaveral.

So, changes in our cruising plans. We have cancelled my family's B2B cruise and instead booked the Fantasy for August 2012. I was however able to salvage part of the Dream trip. I will still be cruising for what was to be the first half of our B2B (Sept. 11th 2011), but it will be a "Mommy and Me" trip with my youngest instead of with the whole family. Fianancially, this was the better way to go. So although I won't be cruising with most of you here, I will be cruising the Dream the week before you all :thumbsup2 So maybe we'll cross paths (and won't know it) when we get off the ship, and there might be a lineup of people waiting to enter the terminal........ :)

ALSO....are we going to plan a dismeet onboard? I'll have my kids with me and they like to swim as soon as we board. So, I was thinking, if everyone is planning on being at the terminal as soon as we can board the ship, maybe we can plan a dismeet at 1:00 by the Mickey pool. Hi David...thanks so much for the link...I just loved it. September 2011 can't get here fast enough.

A little off topic here. Has anyone other then DW and I put up their Christmas tree yet? We have 3 kitties, and last year was a nightmare with them getting in the tree. We don't put our tree up until after Thanksgiving. Today, we went to the tree farm not far from our house and tagged our tree. Since we are going to WDW on the 7th of December, our tree will be picked up after we get back from our trip. Our DS and DDIL have 2 cats that do exactly the same as your cats. No matter what they do, the cats climb in the tree. They just don't put fragile ornaments on the tree. He sent us a photo a couple of years ago of his cat that fell asleep in the tree.

Have a great evening and take care.

We don't have our tree up yet. That will be next weekend's chore. As far as the cats, we got soooooo very lucky with our cats. They just like to sleep under the tree. It's really cute!!!! Except I end up having to wash the tree skirt several times before Christmas (and then after Christmas before I put it away) because they shed all over it!

(Watch...now that I just said that, the cats will probably try climbing the tree this year. :scared1:)

Well here it is..............Good Ol' Monday morning again gang!!! :cool1: Another day closer to our cruise date!!!:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Here is the latest up / update on our Christmas tree. As you will remember, in yesterday's episode, the Christmas tree was completely decorated. And, all parties were happy.:dance3: Well it seems as the day went on DW got to inspecting the tree for flaws..............checking where ornaments her hubby put on the tree that did not look right in that spot!!! She stepped back to admire her work and all of a sudden.......... she said something's not right!!!:scared1::scared1::eek: Well hubby was  to say the least!!! Then DW says all of the garland that was put on the tree with great care and  has to be taken off and put on the tree in a different way!!! Well hubby is still , and says but why princess:, DW says stop calling me !!! princess: Ok.........ok........DW says the tree looks . So this week-end we will be pulling the garland off the tree and putting it back on in the way DW wants it to be put on! It seems I go around in a  state of mind most of the time now any more!!!!

Well, ya'll have a great day today. I'm going to try and figure out a better way to put on the ol' garland!!! :confused3

In a similar story, my cat (who is in my profile picture) is about 15lbs and likes to strong arm the tree. Yes....he is a bully....I figured this out early in our relationship and have self corrected the tree problem, when he was smaller he liked to shake the tree and get all the ornaments off then run them into the wall and shatter them. In his older age he would just hang on the lower branches and bat at them till they fell off, for some years our tree literally had no garland or ornaments on the lower half of it  I am now smarter than my cat and only hang stuffed cushy ornaments on the tree and bury the garland so that he can't get to it :wizard:

He does still take a run at it every time it goes up and the tree skirt is hopeless with him, he will mess it up every single time I straighten it out :lmao: I think he just thinks we put the tree up as a toy for him to play with for a month out of the year!!

Cattrix, you kitty sounds so much like my 3 kitties. What one won't think of, one of the other two will!!! We have two girls and one boy. Two of them Sabrina, she is the oldest at 17 years old, and Sunny, our newest addition, are strays someone didn't want. Sabrina has been with us for 16 years and we believe she was just 1 year old when she adopted us. Our middle child, or kitty, Clohe, was 8 weeks old when we took her in from a friend whose cat had kittens. And the the big man Sunny came to our door about 3 years ago, looking for a home. We believe he was about 1 year old when we took him in.
They now have gotten use to the tree and enjoy sleeping under it every evening. But so far, knock on wood, they haven't tried knocking down the tree or climbing in it like your kitty.

Happy Thanksgiving!!!!!

What a nice picture!! My son, when he was little, loved Winnie the Pooh and all of the charactors from the 1000 Acre Woods. I hope everyone had a very safe and Happy Thanksgiving. DW and I have been busy with decorating the rest of the house with our Christmas decorations. Has anyone else started decorating yet??
Well, I have to go and do my excerises on the ol' elipitcal torture machine. Everyone have a great Sunday. We are another day closer to our cruise guys!!!!:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Hello Everyone...Happy Wednesday and December 1st....we're getting a little closer to our cruise.

Here is a link about the Dream crew...page 3 of 6 will give you the Dreams itinerary from Germany to Port Canaveral.:thumbsup2

Getting ready for our trip to WDW. We will be there next Tuesday and I can't wait. Looking forward to seeing all the beautiful Christmas decorations. :lovestruc

Not a very nice day here in Southern Delaware....pouring rain...very windy. The forecast is calling for 50 mph wind gusts:scared1: It is 56 degrees right now but as the day goes on the temperature will drop. Can't complain too much...it's better than snow.

Have a great day and take care.:flower3:

Hi Ho All!!! It's Thursday morning, and I'm not at work!!!!:cool1::cool1: I have a doctor's appointment this morning. Just my usual annual check-up.

Hey Monika, thanks for that link about the Dream.:thumbsup2 Now I'm going to try and talk DW into going over to Port Canaveral on Jan 4th to see the Dream sail in. Not sure she will be able to get off work, since we are off work the week between Christmas and New Year's. But maybe..........just maybe!!!

It's gotten colder down here in the ol' Sunshine State. This morning it is in the 40's and the high is only suppose to get up to about 65. Weatherman says this week-end it should warm back up though. Hope he is right!!!

Well I hope everyone has a nice day today. Got to go and get ready to see the doctor.

Hello everyone...Happy Thursday.

Leaving for WDW Tuesday morning. Will be at the Boardwalk around lunch time. Looking forward to all the decorations at WDW. Can't wait. Will be going Mickeys Very Merry Christmas Party too.

David...I will take the temps you are having. It is cold and windy here. The high for today in Southern Delaware is 40 degrees. That would be exciting to go to Port Canaveral and watch the Dream come to port. I hope the port has the webcam ready...I sure will be watching the cams that day.

Have a great day everyone and take care.:flower3:

Well, Monika, I do have to admit during the day it is very nice outside. It's just at night usn' Floridians, when it is below 40, we tend to freeze up!!!!:sad2::sad2::sad2:

Monika, if you and your family get a chance to go around to some of the different resorts, please do so. Check out how each resort has decorated for the holidays. They are FANTASTIC!!! DW and I did that very thing a couple of years ago, and we had the best time!!! We may do that this year if we can. Have fun at WDW.........but I know you already will!!!!:yay::yay::yay:

Monika, I'm afraid that when you get down here some of that ol' cold will have hit Florida too. A cold front came thru this morning bringing a touch of rain with it . Rain is gone now, sun is shining, but it is suppose to only get up to around 65 today. Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday morning the lows are suppose to be around 32 degrees, with the high close to 60.:sad2::sad2: After Thursday it is suppose to warm up a bit!!!:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:
Sounds like you and your DH have done the Disney resort Christmas decoration hop before. As I said DW and I have done it several times and we have allot of fun going around checking out how each resort has decorated for Christmas. Not sure if we will make it this year or not. Monika, if you and your DH don't mind 60 degree temps during the day then you will be in fine shape. No rain is scheduled for this week, just on the chilly side.:sad2::sad2: The ol' weatherman says by next week-end we should warm up some again. (Hope he is right!!!!)

Good Morning everyone...hope all is well with you.

We are home :sad1:. We had a great time at WDW. Went resort hopping to see all the Christmas decorations. Boardwalk is my favorite, followed by Animal Kingdom and then Grand Floridian. Animal Kingdom Lodge is amazing...this was our first visit there. We will be staying at Animal Kingdom Lodge in February. I can't wait.

We were walking on the beach at the Beach Club....there were a few people taking pictures of the sky...so DH asked....NASA launched a Falcon 9 rocket...wow...that is a first for us. Such an amazing sight. I hope someday we will be able to see a shuttle launch.

Fell in love with Epcots new character...Duffy the Disney Bear. We were at Epcot in September when he was introduced and we bought 2 Duffy Bears. One we gave to our granddaughter and the other belongs to a kid at heart....Me :).

David...that is exciting news about the Dream....yes, we are getting closer and I can't wait. DH's name is Michael.

Have a great day and take care. :flower3:

Hey guys! David, I hope you are staying warm!! Right now I would LOVE to have mid 30's. Last night our low temperature got down to the negatives. Today our high is 20 degrees but with the wind chill factor it will feel like only 3 degrees! Later in the week we will struggle to get into the teens and the wind chill factors will make it feel like it's below zero. Somebody remind me again, why I live in NW Indiana?!

We just had a major storm come through yesterday and last night. Our schools are closed today and three surrounding counties are in a state of emergency. So, I'm staying home from work with the kids...not sure that the boss will like it very much but I have no choice, they're not old enough to stay home by themselves and I have no nearby sitter.

Monika & Michael - I'm glad you had such a great trip! We did the resort hopping one year in December to see all the decorations. The Wilderness Lodge was BEAUTIFUL. I don't think AKL was even there yet...so now we'll have to plan another December trip sometime so we can see that one, too! :thumbsup2

We actually have a Duffy bear, but his name wasn't Duffy when we bought him. We bought him back in 2004 when DD was just a year old. He's wearing a bib that says "My First Disney Bear". Nowhere on his tag or anywhere does it say "Duffy". We just got him because he was sooooo cute and he was her first Disney bear!!! So, I guess he'll be joining us on our future Disney trips! :thumbsup2

Well, I hope everyone has a great Monday!!

The cold weather that's sweeping across the whole country is just ridiculous, isn't it?! I hope you get your 70's!!!! I can't believe the farmers had to hire helicopters to force the warmer air down on their crops. I bet that cost them some big bucks!!!

Final arrival in Florida is for Jan 4, 2011.

Well Monika, it is finally suppose to get back up to normal temps here in Florida. Today it is to be 65 to 68 degrees. Our normal is around low to mid 70's. Can't wait for that!

Well, surprise surprise everyone, I'm BACK on this 3 night portion! Just DS8 and myself! We went from Cancelling our set staterooms, to booking the Fantasy (which we are still doing), then I rebooked DS and myself back ontot the 4 night before this one, and then last week had our TA also book us back onto THIS one too, but could only get GTY . ( I just couldn't fathom having to get off after 4 nights, after being on a 7 night now). I will probably get back into the FE but will let you know in the New Year. I need to get the trip paid for first :thumbsup2 DS8 still asks frquently "When can we go on the Dream". We will tell him about this on his Birthday in July, or after (he's away at his first Residencial Camp that week).
So it looks like I'm having some Catching up to do on this board! :thumbsup2

Hello everyone.

Earlier this month...Michael and I enjoyed WDW...loved every minute of it. After returning home...we spent some treasured time with our beautiful DGD (she is 9 months old today). We had a great Christmas...hope you all did too. Michaels mom is visiting us and our DD is home from college.

The cold weather we experienced at WDW is nothing to what we have here. It's snowed for 2 days, 50 mph winds and cold...oh my cold... we ended up with over 20 inches of snow. We had to shovel a pathway for our dogs in the backyard. This is crazy weather. By Saturday...we are going to have a heat wave...54 degrees.

Now I am looking forward to our cruise. Can't wait. The Dream will be arriving Castaway Cay on January 1st. January 4th, she will be arriving Port Canaveral. Very exciting.

Debbie...hope you're feeling better. Take care.

David...we watched the Disney Parade on Christmas Day. Samantha Brown was the perfect person to show off the Dream!!! It was good to see Rachel...really like her. She is a fantastic cruise director!!!!!

Monika, Rachel was the Cruise Director on our first Magic Cruise we took. We liked her allot and thought she did a great job. And, you are right Samantha Brown was the perfect person to show off the Dream. I wonder if the Travel Channel will have Samantha do one of her cruise shows on the Dream. That would be great to see.
Everyone talks about.............and I'm sorry here gang.............I cannot for the life of me think of his name.......I believe he has an English accent..............he is in the Disney Cruise Line video they show from time to time on the Travel Channel. Is it Bret - Brent..........I'm sorry I'm just not sure.:confused3 But anywho, everyone says he is great too.
Well Monika, sounds like you got a winter wonderland going up there. It has been cold down here in Florida too. No snow...........just cold. This morning we woke up to 29 degrees of the cold air. Now folks, that is just way too cold for us'n Floridians!!!!:cool2: But today it is to warm up to 63 and then by the week-end close to 80!!!!:cool1::woohoo::woohoo::dance3:
Has everyone been watching the videos Disney Cruise Line has been putting on their website about the Dream??? They have been showing some very nice shots of the interior of the Dream. One GREAT looking ship everyone.:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Hi David...Rachel was the cruise director on our first Disney cruise too. She is fantastic!!!! You are referring to Brent...he is also a very good cruise director. Christian is another good one. When we were on the DVC members cruise September 2010....the cruise director was really good...but I can't remember his name.

Hope you and DW enjoy your week off from work.

I have not been on DCL's website but I will go and check out the videos. I cannot wait to cruise on the Dream....she is such a beautiful ship.

Have a great day and take care. :flower3:

David...we were talking about cruise directors---add Clayton to your list. Clayton was the assistant cruise director on the Wonder. I am not sure where he is now...he is was great. I don't recall the name of the cruise director but he wasn't that good. Clayton was very good with the passengers.

Have a great day and take care.:flower3:

Yep, you are right Monika, we did see Clayton. I did leave him out didn't I!!:confused3 The Travel Channel is one of our favorites too.

Well, DW and I have to go back to work tomorrow. We have had the past 10 days off, and it has been sooooooooooooooooooo nice. Got our Christmas decorations taken down yesterday. The ol' homestead sure does look bare. But we are planning on putting in some new carpet in the living room before spring. That should brighten things up.

Well, the Dream sails into Port Canaveral early Tuesday morning. Hope the webcam is turned on for all of to see her sail in.:thumbsup2 Our day walk on the Dream is getting closer everybody. This is getting exciting!!!!

Enjoy Sunday everyone!!!

I agree. When we were on the Wonder, Clayton was the assistant cruise director. I am still looking for the name of the guy who was cruise director---didn't care for him.

The cruise you took in November...did you stop in Nassau? If so, how did you like Nassau?

In February, we are going on the Magic and doing a Southern Caribbean. Looking forward to that. St. Maartens and St. Thomas. Looking forward to the cruise...need it bad!!!!

Have a good evening and take care.:flower3:

Eastern Maybe? We did the Western this past Nov. and Are doing the Eastern in 2012 on the Fantasy. Do you have any excrusions planned for St. Maartens and ST. Thomas? I haven't checked any out yet, as that cruise is so far off for us, but now my interest is picking up. You'll have to tell us all about it when you get back!:thumbsup2

Hi....for St. Maartens-the only excursion we booked is Under 2 Flags Island Tour. For St. Thomas-Skyride to Paradise Point. This will be our first time in St. Maartens and St. Thomas. I'm not sure if we are going to book anything else.

Hi Debbie, I didnt' know I was still on this FE list, but am happy to remain on it. However it will just be myself and DS Tim who will be 8 at the time of the cruise. DH and other DS won't be sailing with us this time, as this has been turned into a "Mommy and Me Trip" for me and my youngest. The rest of the family will join us in 2012 on the Fantasy.

My passport expires next week, so tonight or tomorrow, I'll go get new passport photos, then get our pastor to sign as guarantor and I'm taking Friday off work so I can visit the passport office (unless I can find a way to do it online). That'll be one more thing I can check off on my list. :thumbsup2

While I didn't get off the ship in Nassau for this cruise, I did on an earlier one. Personally, I don't care for Nassau, it might have beautiful areas/beaches, but you have to traverse some of the dirtiest areas I have ever seen. Plus all the people trying to sell you junk...just not my cup of tea.
My DS11 and I are sailing on the Dream the 30th of this month :banana: and we'll not be getting off at Nassau this trip either.

Hi...thanks for your input on Nassau--it reminds me of Jamaica. We cruised there on another cruise line years ago. It was the same as you described of Nassau.

I renewed my passport today, So I'm all set!! It was funny last night at Costco, getting my passport photo done. She had to take several shots, as the flash kept making my forehead shine. She said normally they use photoshop to touch those types of things up, but their software was not working yesterday. One other gentelman was standing there, waiting his turn for the same type of photo. Well after having me dab my head with tissue for the 4th time, this guy grins and says, if they just cover the overhead ceiling light, that would solve the problem, and joked about how much work the whole passport photo taking process is. Well, he had me laughing, then it was time to take what was the final photo of me, but I had a hard time stopping the grinning and laughing, oh my, and it didn't help when the photographer herself started to grin, it took all I had to put on a straight face for that damn photo! And you know what? Of all photos of me ever taken, I like this one the best!! Even though there is no smile, I actually am very pleased with how it turned out! I wonder if they do family portraits? :thumbsup2

The passport office today went very smoothly, I took a friend with me as we went across the boarder onto the Quebec side to make a visit to the passport office there. I was in and out in 15 minutes! Easy Peasy! So now both myself and DS7 have all our travel documentation in order. Our Pastor is going to help me with the travel letter I may need, as I'll be travelling without my DH but have our child with me. Now to just pay off the cruise!!:)
