Greetings, Hakuna Matata!

Wow, is this year going fast or What???

I guess all the WDW racers are doing their Disney Countdown! Good luck and congratulations! You go, kids!

Everyone, Congrats on keeping on moving!

Team Bios

Steffwalks, aka Connie - Captain. I am 53 years old, married with Two children and 5 Grandchildren living in the panhandle of Texas. First race at 49 years and 9 months and it was a trail race, just about killed me!! I am working on weight loss and P90X. I prefer the half marathon as a walker. My most recent hobby, mule rider!

Funwalker, aka Margie - Official Record Keeper of HK. walker. widow; I live in Portage MI
Did my 1st race when I turned 60, Full Marathon at the 2005 Columbus Marathon. I prefer Half Marathons for training and distance.

Windwalker, aka Dave and/or Panda - I'm 58 and live in a small town in Kentucky. I don't run I walk, race walk actually and I'm currently training for another shot at the National Senior Olympics. I have the state trials in Sept and if I place there I get a slot on the Ky team that will go to Houston next year for the nationals. I'm single.

flipflopmom, aka Taryn - I will be 35 on Sept. 5. I am a Kindergarten Teacher, working on my master's degree in my "spare"time. Married for 12 years, have 2 girls. Oldest is 10, and a competitive gymnast. Her gym is 45 minutes away,so I spend a lot of time on the road. Youngest is 3, and a tons of fun! I haven't run a race yet, but looking for a 5K.

Motomiker, aka Mike - I have lived in and around Lake in the Hills Illinois and have worked in the grocery business for almost 20 years. married in 2008 to my wife (Liz). One son (Rober). Working on baby number two. I was diagnosed with colon cancer in the fall of 2009 and had surgery. I am still cancer free! My other interests are varied: Disney nut, Disney pins collector, love movies (mostly Sci-fi), scrapbooking, travel, a New England Patriots fan. and 5ks . I did my first adventure race recently, and am planning some more.

LynnG, aka Lynn - (of Lynn and Scott), 59 years old, retired We are both Disneyholics – we have been members of DVC since it started. I am a walker, I used to try to run, but since knee surgery last August which I am still trying to recover from, I only walk now. I have done several half marathons, mostly Disney ones. I have 2 malamutes that are my walking companions at home.

Villians_Rock, aka Eva - I am 31 years old, married to Jordan (proud WISH supporter) and have just recently had our first baby, Gage. We currently live near Cleveland, OH. I'm a full time staffing coordinator for Continental Airlines and my hubby sells Harley Davidsons. I ran my first race in 2007 and have since ran 5Ks, 10Ks, one half marathon and completed the Disney Full Marathon in 2009. Before the baby, I was most comfortable running and training at a half marathon distance.

MaryJ aka Mary I am 53 years old, and live in a small town in Southwestern Indiana. I will be married to DH (Ken) for 34 years in July. We have 3 daughters and 2 granddaughters. I walk/run my races. I did my first big race (WDW Half) when I was 52. Before that I had done only a few 5K's, mostly walking.

GirltheGecko aka Hope. I grew up in the Pittsburgh area. When I was a teenager, I was heavily into martial arts, unfortunately due to school and time, I had to quit. I met Nick, moved to NH, and I gained some weight. I watched my mother struggle with obesity all her life, so Nick's family and I decided to work at trying for a half marathon at WDW.

es45 aka Elizabeth: I'm 41 and married with 2 children, DD9 and DD6. I'll run my first 5k in July and walking with my best friend in the 2011 Princess Half. If I'm ready, I plan to run my first half marathon in late October.

piglet24, aka Regina I grew up in Idaho and married my “birthday buddy”, Kyle, in 2006. There has been a great deal of stress in my life recently that I do not have the ability to change right now, so I decided to try running to help manage the stress and give myself goals to work toward and focus on. Right now I’m working toward my first half marathon in October (Wine and Dine).

Pudge The Fish, aka Emily My DH and I will be doing the DL half in Sept. This will be our first half marathon. I still consider myself new to running, though I've done 2 5k (including the 2009 DL 5k) and one 10k. Thanks!

Good morning team!!!!

Just got back from a 2.52M in 40 mins. Really slow but we stopped a few times to stretch, my shins where really fatigued, maybe from my 7M on Friday. Heel feels much better this morning.

Well off to Rib Fest this afternoon. Have a great Sunday all

Greetings Team!!!

Wow, what a summer ...what a year! I only hope that it improves from here!

Regina - I never answered your question about the stupid mules. One of the problems with stupid mules is that they AREN'T stupid! Jon, DH, wants to backpack into the Wilderness areas of Colorado to Elk Hunt. You can only use your own feet or a horse or mule to go in. Thus, we have mules. We haven't ridden since the accident. But Jon is riding this morning. He has a young mule (5 years old) that you have to wear spurs with just to kick her out of the plodding gait she prefers.

I have skimmed the post you have all left the last week and I am definitely out of the loop. Hope to make up for that from here on out! But I did notice that Mike is now our resident Hunk! Thanks Mike for filling in for Dave!

The camping trip was miserable! It was so hot! I bought a fan for my tent and still melted down in the heat! Jon has decided that next year we will have a cabin or something. We actually found one on line that sleeps 20 people. May take advantage of that. We had 31 people at the reunion. I got really tired of cooking and cleaning. DH, his good friend and I, seemed to do most of the work. I am planning on a chore chart for next year. I am also thinking of a "bring it" list. Some people shared what they brought and some people only shared what we brought! Ah well....what can you say!

Yesterday, I spent the day juicing watermelons. I made 12 gallons of juice with will become wine! Come by about this time next year for a nice chilled glass of watermelon wine!

See ya - Connie

Hey Connie, how are you???????

Here is to August being the start of good things for everyone!!!!

I have been on family camping trips like that, hopefully you where able to have a few good moments here and there to make it all worth it.

Wow! It's officially August! Well, I'm sitting here procastinating instead of just going out and running *tee-hee*

Connie - Your trip sounds like a cross between Big Brother and Survivor. It's a shame that no one else pitched in and helped with the work. I guess everyone else was truly on vacation. The cabins for the next trip sounds like a good idea. Put me out in the heat for a day or two and I'd be super cranky and tired from the weather and lack of sleep.

Kim - Mmm... ribs! Have some for me! WTG on all the recent miles!

Margie - These days it feels like changes are happening faster than I can keep up with! Oh, can you put me down on the race calendar for:
Aug 21 - A Midsummer Night's Run, Toronto, ON - 30K
Sep 26 - Scotiabank Waterfront Marathon 1/2, Toronto, ON

Mike - So what's your first order of business as the new resident team hunk? The running store had ordered more 4 bottle belts so I managed to pick one up on Friday. It was good timing too because Fuel Belt is running a 20% promotion so I got $10 off! Thanks so much for looking for me

AFM - My cold still lingers. I didn't want to leave the 25K for Monday but that's the way it's going to be. Will try for 5 miles this morning and then heading off to brunch and to run errands.

Have a great day everyone! :wave2:

Hey Kim! Hey Vicky!

I didn't even mention the bug bites!!!

My foot continues to improve. I am thinking that it won't be long now and I can start P90X. I dont' know when I will ever be doing another race. It's all kind of on the back burner for now.

Vicky - Honey, shake that cold! Take a rest day and treat yourself to some R&R. You deserve it.

Kim - the best moment of all, After 5 days of camping with no running water, intense heat and humidity, bugs, bugs, bugs, and hard work, I checked into a Motel!

bunnyfoo

Connie - We miss you! I guess the bugs just know how sweet you are! I'm taking lots of vitamin C and drinking water.

I’ll pass on the Ribs – Enjoy.

Mike- Resident Hunk :woohoo:

Vicky-Rest is what is needed to get rid of that cold!

Hi Team!

Did 4 miles today. Knee was a little sore, so I guess I'll give the anti-inflamatory a try. Been waiting to use it until after I did a run that was longer than 30 minutes.

DH is out of town until Wednesday, so I'm going to try to get a few odd jobs done here at home. And in the evenings, it will just be me, our cat Sam, the DVD player and glass of wine to relax!

Stay cool everyone!

Mary-WTG on the 4-miler!
Are you saying you did that 4-miles in under 30 minutes :worship:

Sorry about the knee problems and the need to use the Anti-Inflammatory.

Getting little project completed sounds way too good and deserves a chilled glass of wine. Might want to talk to Connie about that watermelon wine she is making.

I wish!! No, it took just under an hour. During the week I do short, 30 minute runs. Then on the weekend, I go longer. I am slow since I walk/run.

Hey everyone!

Sue- I hope you had fun in Ottawa.

Margie- Yes, I agree- it is a very good thing to learn which foods are good for my tummy and which ones are bad before a race. I guess I'm definitely making progress there! :rotfl: Hagen sounds very cute and helpful! I hope your bike ride goes well tonight! Have fun!

Vicky- How are you feeling? I think tea and chicken noodle soup still counts as lots of fluid intake. Did you make it through your 5 miler?

Dave- I hope your first few days at the new store go well!

Lynn- Way to go on the 12.41 mile walk!! What book are you listening to right now? Good to know about the hybrid bike. Kyle and I would eventually like to get into some leisurely biking so when we reach that point, I may be asking you guys for some advice on picking one. (May not be in the immediate future though…we’ve been talking about it for awhile but other things just keep coming up.)

Mike- Thanks for checking on the vibrams. I’m going to call the store tomorrow that said they would be getting a shipment in around the first and keep calling until that shipment comes in & book it over as soon as they are in! Breakfast Sunday after the races sounds like a great idea. Do you have any place in mind you would like to go? Kyle and I have never eaten at any of the resorts before so aren’t sure where would be the best place to go? Do the food courts at Music or Movies have good breakfast items When is Liz’s first tri? Tell her we would love to hear her race report after the event! Is it on our race calendar? Way to go on your 10 mile run!!! You’re smoking through the miles!

Emily- Kyle can be pretty motivating sometimes as well. We actually never really do much talking when we do run together though. I’m usually too busy focusing on what I’m doing. How’s your leg feeling? Are you excited for DL? I can’t believe how quickly it’s coming up!

Elizabeth- Welcome back! I’m glad your family emergency has resolved itself. Do you have another 5k in mind that you want to work toward since you missed your first one? Were you able to get back into the swing of running pretty easily? I would say that you enjoying getting back into running/it feeling natural makes you a runner! :thumbsup2

Connie- That makes so much more sense to me now that I know what the mules are for! :lmao: Was your tent in the shade at all, or completely exposed to the sun? A chore list and a bring it list sounds like a good idea. Family reunions can be big gatherings so it would be nice if everyone pitched in so people could take turns relaxing and enjoying themselves too. Watermelon wine sounds pretty tasty!

Mary- Hi! Let us know how the anti-inflammatory works when you try it! Do you have a run/walk ratio you go by, or do you just walk when you feel like it?

AFM, thanks for the feedback on the DDP. The thing is, we DID BUY park tickets, but apparently because we did not buy them together they are somehow not tied to our room reservation, so therefore, we do not qualify for DDP.:confused3 (I have been buying/reserving things as we go so our trip will be paid before we leave for our trip.) I was slightly irritated at first by all this since the guy I talked to when I booked the reservation said I could get them separately and still do DDP. I thought they would both be tied together still, but apparently they are not. It's cool though, I’m good with it. Lesson learned for next time. Guess Disney will just have to settle on getting less money from us this trip.

Kyle and I ran 9 miles today. My stomach is a little bit upset now from the running, but the run itself went pretty well for me being such a slacker these past couple weeks. I’m pretty pleased I made it through as today was my first time ever running 9 miles! It took me about 107 minutes and some odd seconds to run 9 miles. Tomorrow will be a nice rest day. Oh, and I bought my WISH shirt, so I'm pretty excited to get that sometime soon.

Hope everyone has a good Monday.

Hello team!

As to why I was repeatedly yelled at, a few years ago, I had some back problems and my sciatic nerve was inflamed (yea... it doesn't play nice). But it's doing much better now, hence the stacking of 40 lb bags of pellets.

Hi guys. The put me in a Hampton suite so it comes with free internet. They surely need me at this store, I was by myself today and the rest of the time looks the same. They have 3 other people that work there and one isn't trained and the other 2 are lab techs. So I have the show for the 3 days a week I will be here. Good thing they are paying me extra.

Robert they are paying for my meals so I had Red Lobster blackened catfish. That's about high on the hog for Hooterville here.

Being the social animal that I am I met some interesting people and had some nice conversations. The local TV station wants to interview me on the air about becoming an optician. Note to self, "do learn to keep your mouth shut".

I went for a 10 min walk just to stretch my legs, I just wasn't into training, I'm mentally and physically drained.

Have a restful evening y'all. Hug to our pretty princesses

Good Morning Team!

Connie – good to hear from you! Pixie dust for you and your summer becoming better!

Dave – Glad you have a good place to stay there, and that you are enjoying the food. Good luck with the work. Good luck with the training!

Kim and Sue - have a good Holiday Monday!

Margie – we have had these mountain bikes for about 20 years, and the tires were the original ones! We used to do some mountain riding when we lived in Jackson, but now they are basically the”jump on for a short ride” bikes, as we are surrounded by dirt roads.

The dogs and I got in 4 miles this morning, every Monday morning I feel like I have to learn how to walk all over again, after not walking over the weekend. It takes me 3 miles to warm up to the point that I can walk smoothly! Scott says we are taking a bike ride tonight when he gets home. Since we spend all day yesterday working on the mountain bikes, guess it would be good to ride them!

Pixie dust to all who are in need!

Have a great day all!

HI Everyone!

Ladies, since Dave does indeed have internet access I will humbly bow to his seniority as chief Hunk (Panda)!!! I'll be waiting on the bench! Besides, I'm more of a Chunk! :lmao:

No training for me today, long night at work and a longer day so far. I've only had 45 minutes of sleep so far today. Got about three hours before I have to get ready for work. Ugh!

Regina~ I'll check to see, I think I booked the Kona Cafe at the Poly for breakfast on Sunday. I thought the Tonga Toast would be a good reward to myself for doing the race. I plan on spending the evening at EPCOT parusing the Food and Wine booths. It's fun to have a few beers and ride Test Track!

Vicky~ You are welcome! Let us know if you find your belt!

Scott~ I can't wait until I have a garage again to do things like change bike tires! Our current residence is without one. Very hard to do some chores.

Dave~ Enjoy the free meals out! Sounds like alot of work, but a sweet deal!
Glad you are online, don't know if I could have handled the pressure!

AFM~ Time to crash for three hours, and then off to the salt mines!

Regina - WTG on your 9 miler! My leg is feeling better, I was able to do some running this past weekend and tonight. I think I'm more nervous than excited right now about the DL half. I can't believe it's only a month away!

Dave - Nice perks, good luck with the job.

AFM, my bruised leg is feeling better. I ran this past weekend and tonight. My leg did hurt some but it hurt less than last week. I'm happy to be back training.

Hi team! My cold is still here. I think it's overstayed it's welcome - can someone tell it to go away?

Emily - Glad to hear that your leg is feeling better!

Mike - I did find the four bottle belt but haven't had a chance to test it out yet. Hope your night at work wasn't too bad.

Lynn - I find that I usually take 3 miles to get warmed up as well!

Dave - That's great that the company is covering your meals and hotel! Maybe you can throw in some laundry too ;)

Hope - I did something a couple of years ago to irritate my sciatic nerve. Ouch, no fun!

Regina - WTG on the 9 miler! If you made your reservations through Disney Travel and they told you something incorrect, if you speak to a manager, they'll fix it for you. That said, I found the DDP too be much food. I haven't eaten at 1900 PF before - never quite liked the "live" characters :)

Mary - Good job on the 4 miler!

Margie - New gloves? Let's see a pic of them :) How's Hagen been doing recently?

Kim - Mmm.. Kona Cafe! Are you doing Taste of the Danforth this weekend?

Sue - How was Ottawa?

AFM - I did a 3 and 5 miler on the weekend. The pace was pretty good all things considered. I never did make that 25K run so it looks like I'm going to be undertrained going into the race. Probably better for my ankle anyway. New month so I'm getting back on the low/no sugar and regular exercise wagon. Not much else to report.

Hope everyone is having a great day! :wave2:

Good Morning, Team! :wave2:

Scattered Thunderstorms; High 86°- 73% Humidity and it is sprinkling!

Connie-are you feeling any more rested, recuperated from your
'Wild Camping Trip'?

Dave- hope you finding this change in your work schedule interesting?
some times a change of pace and scenery can renew us!

Emily-good news that your bruised calf is doing better and
you are able to train.

Elizabeth- glad you are able to get in a nice run!
80° is Hot here in Michigan!

Kim-how was the ribs? Now it Tonga Toast-
Hummmm am I hearing a theme here?

Lynn-WTG on the 4-miler.
Okay my tires have a few years on them
Hope you were able to get your bike ride in last night.
I never thought I would have what it takes to do Mountain Biking…it looks
Way Intense to me. (And I way too concerned about breaking my neck!)

Mike- Yikes you do not get much sleep!

Scott-how is the physical therapy?
Did you take any time off work for this surgery?
Sounds like you were working all the time?
I will ask about my tires the next time I have my bike serviced.
But strange things happen to me- 2 new tires on the car Friday-
Saturday coming home the low tire pressure light came on-
Pulled off to put air in – the more I put in the flatter the tire got…
Then had to seek help to figure out how the air hose work…it was tricky.
Apparently the seal was not good on one of the new tires!

Vicky- sorry you still have the cold...
Nice that you were able to get a couple of runs in.
And you will do much better in the race rest and not
deleting your body by doing a long training run!
No, New gloves they were Pearl Izuma's - cannot support them after
all the negative comments about NON Elite Runners.

Good Morning Team!

Mike – sorry about the lack of sleep – you remind me of all the years I spent on the graveyard shift!

Vicky’s cold – GO AWAY!

Elizabeth – good to be chatting with you again also!

Dave – hope you are surviving at the new location! By now you probably have a training walk all figured out.

Margie - :wave2:

The dogs and I only did a short walk this morning, but I plan to spend some time both on the new bike outside (still trying to learn the new gear shifts), and the spin bike downstairs. My knee hurt all weekend, and I do not know if it was from the long walk on Friday or inactivity over the weekend. We did get for a couple of loops on the bikes last night - about 2.5 miles. I did not want Scott to overdo it, today was his first PT session. Although it was warm - 89 degrees - it was comfortable on the bikes where it would be really hot walking.

Good Morning Team!

The wonderful humidity has returned again. I will be waiting to run later tonight.

AFM, Had 2 great runs in Ottawa along the Rideau Canal (In the winter it is named the world's longest skating rink). The city path/trail system is outstanding & the city really supports an active lifestyle. There is always something going on & a festival every weekend.
Did 3 days of major walking, toured 3 museums, visited the parliment buildings/ changing of the guard & had dinner a 2 of my favourite restaurants. I lived in Ottawa for 5 years & truly miss the city.

The meeting time just got changed. Have to run.
Sounds like everyone is getting on plan with their training.
Make it a good one...........Sue

Mike - You can be the official Energizer Hunk!

Sue - Hate that about the humidity! Wow! You have really seen the sights! Good luck with that meeting!

Dave - Nice perks. Hope you don't get really sick of restaurant food before you get a home cooked meal! I hope you enjoy the change of scenery, too!

Vicky's COLD MUST GO! I am wondering....you may have adult whooping cough. It's making a BIG comeback. You might want to see a doctor if it doesn't get better soon! -- I really enjoyed 1900 PF. Prince Charming really, really is!

Lynn and Scott - PD to you guys! You have sure had your troubles this year as well. I think it has something to do with the year ending in ZERO! Have fun with the bikes!

Margie - Good to hear that Sara is better! I was worried for you all. God is good! Great job on your workout!

Emily - Glad to hear you are improving!

Elizabeth - You need a title too. Let me give that some thought!

Hope - Take care!

Hello to Everyone. I hope Jack is okay!

AFM - Pickling okra and freezing squash for soup. I have just about had it with all this squash! I think I should make the man who plants all the dang squash do something with it! Thinking of trying a new diet, though....squash. :scared1: It's going to be another scorcher today. I think it probably has something to do with August! :lmao:

This morning, DH informed me that we are about to undergo a whole new renovation/remodel. Oh fun...............:sad2:

1ST PT session this morn, walked in and was told you are walking really well, working and stretching, reducing swelling. then we start to strengthen, all is very very good. feel really good about the PT dude. I am cleared to ride a bicycle as long as I watch the load I put on the knee.

Margie I only too a couple days off work, last week was Frontier Days and that is pretty laid back as a state employee, I did have 5 grant reports to do so it was hectic but at the desk.

We did a little bike ride last night ,

Life seems really busy, still getting caught up here at work, that never seems to end.

Sounds like others are doing pretty well,

Hey Team!

Margie - Good news on Sara! Hoping for continued improvement!!! -- Remodel project - We have an attached garage, which was originally a small army barracks hut. There is a wall that separates the attachment in half, lengthwise. On the "inside" there is a useless room. You have to walk through it to get to the 3/4 bath and laundry room in the very back. The other side is the garage side, and it is narrow but quite long. Handy if you happened to have two micro cars, but useless for 3/4 ton 4x4 trucks. We are going to take out the center wall, move the laundry room to the opposite side, enlarge the bathroom, enclose the garage door and then put a wall in separating the laundry and bathroom from the larger room only it will run the width of the room instead of the length. Sounds like trouble ahead, to me!

Scott - good to hear things are better than you expected! PD for continued improvement.

Where is everybody. Did I run y'all off?

Good Morning Team!

Busy at work & trying to find the motivation to get it done.

Regina, Looked at the 5 finger shoes on the weekend. I was in need of new running shoes so I bought those instead. Maybe in a few weeks before our Oct. Disney trip.

Vicky, No deals on WJ for Jan. & I can't even get into AC website. I might have to give into Buffalo. Are you running tonight with the runclub?

Connie, Do tell about the watermelon wine? Have you made it before? Is it super sweet? If it's chilled it sounds like it would be quite refreshing on a hot summer day.

Scott, Glad to hear things are going well with your knee.

Lynn, Is the knee feeling better today?

Margie, :wave2: Any exciting plans with the boys today? Is it sprinkler time?

Got new running shoes on the weekend & new winter running tights last week. Now I need a new winter running jacket and I will be good to go.

Hi everyone!

Sue - Let me know what kind of jacket you get because I'm looking too.

The Air Canada website had problems yesterday. I tried to book some flights at work and boy was it slow! I haven't seen any deals yet but in the past, they usually don't go on sale until late September or October. It's hard to wait though.

No, I want to go out with the RR group but just don't feel up to it. I'm not sure the combination of humdity and head cold would be good. I did find out that they're holding a marathon clinic starting in September specifically for people going to Disney so I'll be signing up for that. I was really excited when I found out!

Connie - Sounds like a major reno project you've got there. Are you and Jon going to be doing it yourselves?

Scott - WTG on the bike miles! Have fun at the wedding!

Lynn - Hope your knee is feeling better today! How are you making out with the yoga DVD?

Regina - I was out walking on the weekend and saw a poodle mix and I thought of Sydney. She was really friendly! What restaurants have you decided on for your W&D weekend?

Margie - How was your walk with Nikki? Forgot about those Pearl Izumi ads ... pixiedust: for Sara! Thanks for all of the  I owe you an email but haven't had the energy after work this past week to work on it.

AFM - I think the cold is starting to let go (finally). Thanks for all of the "Go aways", that was awesome :) I'm still thinking I'll take one more day and skip the running group tonight. I really did want to go but I'd rather not push it. I've got two new trainers for Thursdays and Mondays - so I'm happy about that. I may end up sticking with the Thursday evenings after September because there's now a running clinic on Tuesday evenings specifically for Disney runners.

Hi Everyone!

I took the last three days off from training under some duress. Between the lack of rest and the stormy weather, I tried sleeping instead. Today, I got in four quick miles after a doctor's visit. I had an ultrasound on the bloodclots in my leg and it seems they are "resolving" but are still present. Which means that I will still be on blood thinners for awhile yet. Not a big deal, but I wanted to be through taking medication.

Kim~ I purposely avoid starting a trip to WDW too many days before a race! I eat too much (Tonga Toast and such) and then can't race well! I save the pigging out for after celebration. I will be doing the Food and Wine Festival on Sunday after the Wine and Dine Half and thouroughly enjoying myself while sporting my new medal!

Vicky~ I hope you feel better soon!

Dave~ How's the new job going?

Hey everyone!

Elizabeth- I’m glad you enjoyed your run! We are glad you are back!

Mike- I’m impressed you can function on such little sleep. I’m pretty sure I would be a total grump if I got less than 6 hours. Ok, well just let us know where you want to eat and when and we’ll be there. I just hope it’s not too early! That’s a bummer you’re not quite off the meds yet.

Emily- Thanks! Now that your leg is feeling better have you been able to increase your mileage at all? What kind of waist pack did you get?

Vicky- Thanks! I’m sure the reservations were somehow my fault for not asking the right questions. It’s ok though. I think it’s too late now anyway, or would be too much of a hassle to fix so I’ll just remember for next time! Do the live characters come around to you at the tables or do you have to go see them? Well you know what they say…better to be undertrained than over-trained right? What kind of poodle mix did you see? I think for our W&D weekend we’re just going with Tony’s Town Square, Sci-Fine Dine In, 1900 Park Fare and Boma’s. Otherwise, we’ll stick with off site stuff or CS this trip. But I definitely want to check out Pecos Bills now and the Dole Whip! I’m glad you’re feeling good about the new trainers and that the cold is finally going away!!

Connie- What kind of renovation/remodel?

Scott- I’m glad your PT session went well and that recovery is going well so far.

Sue- Sounds like you had a great long weekend! What kind of running shoes did you get?

Lynn- It seems like your training’s going well!

Margie- What kind of DM speed laps did you do?

AFM, my diligent checking on the Five Fingers finally paid off! One of the local outdoorsy type stores just got a shipment in so on Tuesday we went and bought a pair for both DH and I. Am very happy about that, now just have to get used to them. I also ran 4 miles today and maintained about an 11:19 pace the whole time. DH walked beside me on the TM because his calves were sore from running in his Five Fingers. That’s about all going on over here. Hope everyone has a fantastic Friday!

Toronto is also my DD's 18th birthday...jees I just got over my oldest turning 21 and now my baby is 18:scared1:

Mike we usually go in the Thursday before a race to get expo over and done with but this year we are coming in on the Wed for a bit of extra magic. The only reason we are doing Tonga Toast on Thursday before expo is that we will still have the rental vehicle and Poly takes to long to get to from POP. Then we will drop off the rental vehicle and head straight to expo.

Let us know how you like the Five Fingers.
I am a walker so my doing speed work on the DM would be WAY different from yours…
warm up-then I start doing the 30 second increases between
4.0-4.5mph and between 4.5 -5.0mph hold 1 minute with inclines.
I hold the 12-mintue mile pace for as long as I can then start back down.
I LIKE the 15 minute pace.
I walk because I enjoy it, so my goal is always never more than the
15-minute pace not speed. I ONLY do speed work to make that pace fun & easy.

Good morning team! Happy Friday!

Kim - I remember being your DD age and sleeping in until 2 or 3 PM :) I'm going to try and head out to the Taste of the Danforth on Sunday so you'll have to fill me in on where the best tasting stuff is.

Margie - I worked out with the new physio yesterday Tyler. He's nice - I would have liked a tougher workout since I haven't worked out since last Monday but it was pretty good. I tried the side plank for the first time in a long time - managed to do 45 seconds on each side x2. Definitely not like you and Regina's 2 minute planks. :worship: Got a little bit of heckling from one of the other trainer's there. He and his client are always in the gym at the same time we are so I think it's a little bit of "don't let the girls beat you" sort of thing.:rotfl: Yup, running buddy is back - we're going for lunch today instead of running! Friday's my rest day.

Regina - Congrats on your new shoes! You'll have to take a picture of you wearing them. Are you going to run the 1/2 in them? I'm pretty sure the characters at 1900 PF will come over to your table. If you go onto the other boards, they'll probably have a list of funny questions you can ask them. I know if you get Chip and Dale mixed up, they pretend to get all upset.

Lynn - How was your bike ride? Is everything ok with your pups? I did you figure out what was spooking them during the walks?

Mike - For the January marathon, I usually leave on a Wednesday as well. Just in case there are weather related problems and we get grounded for a day or two. But I'd rather have the extra time to spend in the parks at the end of the trip too!

AFM - I had my physio reassessment yesterday and my new physio gave me some strengthening exercises for my left arm and my ankle. He said there was something (a bone I think) on my left side that was very "walked on" - he felt that was causing the strain and aches in my ankle area. We did a short training session afterward - lunges with weights, side planks and balancing exercises. I'm going to work out with him again on Monday and will ask if we can pick up the deadlifting or intensity again.

Not much planned for this weekend - one more long long run before I taper next week. The cold is finally starting to leave. I was a little worried when other people said they had their colds for 3 weeks  Will try to hit the Taste of the Danforth on Sunday so it should be fun!

Have a great day everyone! :wave2:

Are you at 1900 PF for dinner? I think Cinderella is in the lobby & the step-sis etc tour the room. Have you been to Boma before? Bkst or dinner? One of my fav. restaurants & at my favourite resort.

Kim & Vicky, Have a great time at the Tof the D. Don't eat too much.

Regina mentioned having a Dole Whip. I must ask. Am I the only Dole Whip disliker out there? For years all I heard about was Dole Whips are the best things ever. Finally tried one. Blech!!!!!!!!! & I love pineapple.

Have a great weekend everyone. Enjoy your training.........Sue

Good Morning Team!

Connie – I’m with you on the “clipless” clip pedals. The problem I have when I do a short walk, is the next longer walk I feel like I have to learn to walk all over again, I seem to do better when I keep walking at least 3 miles a day – but I never seem to do that. And Scott never does anything slow and easy!

Regina – great job on your 4 miles!

Margie – yes, I got a 10 mile ride in yesterday afternoon, this time I went down the road instead of loops around the neighborhood, and it went a lot faster, I just have to stay on paved roads on the new bike, so that limits where I can go from home since most of our roads are dirt and gravel.

Dave – glad to hear you so upbeat!

Vicky – the pups have been good lately, the older one (Kali) does not like the longer walks any more, but she still does fine on them, she is just really happy when we turn towards home. Taiya, the younger one, has been fine, she got over whatever pain was making her yelp. There have been no gun shots, or nail guns going off on our walks lately, so no trying to sprint for home. Have fun at the Taste of Danforth!

Sue – yes, I think you must be the only one who does not like Dole Whip!

Kim – have fun at the Taste of Danforth!

I made it thru my last really long walk before DL! I make it 11 miles today – the dogs accompanied me for the first 6 – then I dropped them off at home and went on my own for the next 5. I will miss a long walk next week as I will be out of town (heading to Calif to help my brother move out of my Dad’s house, as closing on it should be before the end of the month). I get to start tapering now. Today I need to go get some books on CD from the library for the trip out to CA, and vote as I will miss election day here.

Hey Everybody!

Sue - When you are the winemaker, you can do anything you like to the wine. It can be super sweet or drier! It can have extra flavors like smoke, spice or chocolate or not! I haven't made watermelon wine before. This is 100% watermelon wine. It is all watermelon juice and sugar. I have already had the fermentations stuck twice because the watermelon juice goes bad easily. It's hard to keep the juice the lowest temperature possible while still keeping the yeast working. I will let you know how it turns out!

DOLE WHIP - :sad2: I wouldn't buy it again. Had one in January for the first time. Won't bother, again. That means, SUE, you aren't the only one.

Lynn - I always feel like I have to learn to sit again after a long walk. :rotfl: I don't seem to bend anymore! I think a three mile is a nice stretch of the legs, but not a stressful one!

Kim and Vicky - have a great time tasting things. Wish I could go along too!

Regina - Hope you love the new shoes!

Remodel - Remodel project - We have an attached garage, which was originally a small army barracks hut.

Dave - Hey! You sound happy! Loving your new project, got your ducks in a row, and all that, I see! I think you should try the anti-inflammatory diet. You can find it at: www.drweil.com/drwecs/pyramid/press-foodptramid.html
It has really helped with my tendonitis and pain!

Margie! Hope things are going well for you and Brady. One nice thing about only having one kid, there's just one kid to catch. He can't go in too many directions at once! Great job on your workouts! -- I guess Jon and a guy we hire will be doing the remodel. I try to keep my involvement to being the runner/gopher. I told Jon he couldn't have the guy back who left us in such a bind when he broke himself!

Hey Mike! Be the hunk!

Emily - You can talk to us about anything you want!

Jennifer? Hope? Denise? Everyone???? where are you?????

AFM - yesterday, I went to help my DD begin her move. What is it about actually getting some stuff transferred that seems to make the rest of the move easier? We managed to get her Escalade filled and the 8ft bed on my truck with boxes and stuff. It was a really good start. She was off work and today is her birthday, so we celebrated by moving! :rotfl: Yuck. I picked the garden this morning. It took well over an hour. I gave some away and I will be freezing some. IT will be nice to have this winter.

See ya - Connie

Good morning y'all.

Most of my posts for a while will be drive bys since I'm working so many hours, but I still love y'all.

Connie, thanks for the link. I'm about 90% now, most of my problem now is the loss of fitness from the reduced training. I'm walking without any discomfort at all. I'll be getting new shoes soon to replace the my worn ones.

Everyone have a great weekend.

Good Afternoon Team!

We (the dogs, Scott and me) did a short loop this morning, Scott is walking as fast as I walk already! Then we went to the Farmers Market for it's opening day. We couldn't buy much since we are both going out of town next week, but we had nice scones for breakfast, and bought some roasted chili peppers which we froze. After getting the lawn mowed, we took the mountain bikes out and rode a few laps about the block (4.78 miles) - I still have not figured out how walking around the loop is longer than riding around the loop. Walking 4 laps would be over 5 miles, and riding is less than 5 miles. :confused3

Have a good weekend all! Will try to get back tomorrow, but I do not know if I will have any internet service where I will be next week - so I may be scarce for a week.

Connie-Congratulations on the weight loss! :cheer2:
Just pack up and come visit me when the remodel project starts

:thanks: I did get a new LG LED monitor from Sam’s Club last night,
hooked up, but not enough energy left to post.

Hope you and Melissa got in a few Happy Birthday moments during

Dave-Good News on the PF issues and the stress levels! :cool1:

Kim-sounds like you enjoyed the Danforth Festival yesterday.
Did you get any sleep last night?

Lynn-WTG on your 11-miler! :cheer2:
It is always so nice when that last long one is done!

We will miss you this week! Safe Travels

This might be a dumb question but why must you stay
on paved roads with the new bike? My bike has narrow tires
and it is ‘difficult’ to ‘impossible’ to ride on loose sand, but if
packed not too bad. I do ride it on the KalHaven Trail.
Oh, Bother I had problems yesterday changing gears-

Mike-it is a Bummer that Robert does not have
Kids his age in the neighborhood to play with!
I was thinking of Liz last night - how is her training coming?

Regina-have you been able to try out the new shoes? :cutie:
I am back to doing the reps on the Planks not holding the 2-minute ones.

Scott-sounds like you are more like a machine! :thumbsup2
Do not require much sleep, walking as fast as Lynn, biking, shopping,
And mowing the lawn – Jeez, I need a nap!

Sue-Me Too on that Dole Whip-it is too sweet for me. :confused3
I would not even take a free one that Connie was
Trying to get rid of!

Vicky- glad you are finally feeling better.
Maybe Tyler will finally get to the root of your problems and your ankle
Will improve! I also agree with him on the workouts you have to
Go slower when you have been off for a while! Hard to do when you

Good morning team.

Welcome back Margie.:cloud9:

I'm getting ready to flee up to paducah Ky for another adventure in overtime. After finally settling with ex wife, overtime is a very good thing. I know no other way to recover than the old school way, work more.

We will begin the house hunting this month after Sally has her hysterectomy next week. I hope to be able to find some property at a reasonable price since I hear it's a buyer's market.

Training hasn't been as regular as I would have liked but it should get better this week. At least I'm not hurting any more. My endurance has suffered with the time away from the miles.

Have a great Sunday y'all.

Good morning!

I see I couldn't beat Margie and Dave up this morning!

Margie - Welcome back! How do you like that new Monitor? I haven't bought any LG anythings, but I have heard they are pretty good. -- Melissa and I and the kids did have fun, despite the moving stuff. I took them out to lunch and she got a birthday dessert. She loves brownies. I avoided eating any by calling it poison! She bought herself and the kids new boots because of the great sale going on.

Lynn - did you have learn to sit all over again after the 11 miles? You sound like you are all ready to go! Congrats! You've come a long way, baby!

Dave - Did Erica sell the house you guys had together? Is that why the kids had to get out? Did she lose her mind? Glad to hear you are recovering from your pain. Take a look at the anti-inflammatory diet, anyway. It's a perfect diet for athletes, anyway!

Happy Birthday, Kim's daughter! I hope it was some fun for Mom and Dad, to!!

Sue - by my count, you are definitely NOT alone in your dislike of a Dole Whip. There appears to be 4 of us! We are definitely in the minority, or so it seems. I would much rather have had the homemade chocolate chip cookie ice cream sandwiches, but Disney decided it was too many calories and won't sell them anymore. :sad2: I guess we aren't responsible for ourselves!

Gerry - Welcome back! Hope you find a great race!

AFM - Yup, I lost one more pound. Probably doesn't seem like a big deal to most, but with the thyroid problems that I have, it's REALLY big deal for me! Mowed for 2.5 hours yesterday and still have a good 2 hours today. No riding mowers at our house. I don't even use the self propelled one!

Connie, yes yes and yes. I'm better off now, not sure if it was menopause or a second childhood or what ever but I would never have been able to trust her again after what she did. I think that it's not going to come out well for her. Her love object is 20 years younger than her and still married, he is moving there to be close to him.:scared1:

Dave - It wasn't menopause. It wasn't a second childhood. My guess, she bought into the crap that is too often spewed online between strangers. Sometimes women buy the whole happily everafter and think that they should/could be Cinderella forever without noticing that LIFE gets in the way of the fairy tale. There are so few models of older women being anything but the witch. Personally, I just wave my wand and say, "Bippity-Boppity Boo! and be the fairy Grandmother! :rotfl:

Kim - YOU need to try the anti-inflammatory diet, too! It makes a huge difference in everything! It helps to stop the conditions that set you up for heart attack, stroke, diabetes, etc. And we all need to eat better and the thryroid functions better without all the junk! My daughter thought i had lost at least 35 lbs when in fact, it was a whopping 18! Let me know if you try and how it works for you! Does this make us our own biggest cheerleaders?

Good Morning Team!

Margie - glad you got your computer fixed so quickly! The new bike, although a hybrid, is more a street bike than an off road bike, it has thin tires that would not go well on the gravel of the dirt roads, and I do not want to get a flat:rotfl: That was quite a day you had yesterday - you deserve a rest day today!

Connie - no, I do not have any problems sitting after walking 11 miles:rotfl2: I feel ready for the miles of the half marathon, just not the speed - my training walks still average a pace of around 17:30, I have to really push it to reach a speed of 16:30, and do not maintain that for very long. I am counting on the excitement of the race to keep me going at a faster pace.

Dave - good luck on the Paducah adventure!

Kim - :wave2:

Hi Team,

It sounds like everyone is doing well! That's good to hear!! :woohoo:

I ran 4 miles on Wednesday and 10 on Thursday. I slept about fourteen hours Friday night and really haven't done too much this weekend. My left hip has started bothering me and has become quite painful by the end of my long runs. Now is not the time....so, I've been taking it easy.
We hit the running store this weekend and I picked up some new tech socks. I've always used cotton before so I'm curious as to how they will feel. We also bought a bike rack for our car so we can transport Liz's bike to her triathalon on the 22nd. Also, we cleaned the interior of the car for the first time in months. Oh, and we also purchased tickets to the Patriots at the Chicago Bears on December 12th!!
Liz has been doing really well with her tri training, she is really impressing me and I'm proud of her!! Yesterday she swam 900 meters, biked 25.2, and ran 2.9 miles. She's doing way more than me right now, and she says I'm her inspiration.

Hope that everyone has a great Sunday night! - Mike:cool2:

Hello team! I hope everyone had a good weekend.

Regina - I've increased my mileage a bit, this weekend was 6 miles. Last weekend was supposed to be 8 miles but since it was my first time running after getting hit I only did about 6 miles. I got an amphipod lite race pack. I've only tried it once so far, need to try it again. My DH uses a spibelt, but I wanted something a bit bigger for carry our camera during the half so hopefully this works.

Mike - WTG on your runs last week!

Dave - Have a good week in Paducah!

Connie - Congrats on the weight loss!:cheer2: One pound is a big deal!

Lynn - WTG on your 11 miler! Have a safe trip.

Vicky - Glad to hear you are feeling better!

Margie - Wow, sounds like quite a day for you yesterday. Hope you enjoyed for rest day.

AFM - I did 6 miles yesterday. It was an ok run, our pace was a bit slower than usual. Next weekend will be our longest training run before the DL half. We've been trying different types of gel on our runs and I think I've finally found a brand I like (Clif Shots). I think Clif has a better flavor (I tried strawbeery) than the other brands I've tried, less chemical-ly tasting. Although the gel consistency is hard to get used to.
We made a dining reservation for what will hopefully be our post-half celebration meal. I don't know if we'll be going to the parks on Sunday after the half so we made it for Monday. We'll be going to Cafe Orleans, a first for us.
DH and I went to a soccer game last night. It was a lot of fun! Spent the rest of weekend doing errands/ chores.

Have a good evening!

Good morning, TEAM!

Margie, darling. YOU are an excellent role model. I must amend my statement to read as in fairy tales! There are princesses and witches and fairy grandmothers! You and I are BOTH the fairy grandmother type!

Here's the link again: http://www.drweil.com/drw/u/PAG00361/anti-inflammatory-food-pyramid.html This is a diet pyramid and works!

Connie....I'm taking a look at the anti inflammatory diet as well. Maybe it will help with my knees and some auto immune problems that I have.

Dave....enjoy you time in Paducah. Try to stay cool.

Mike...great job on those long runs!

Emily...I like the Clif shots too. My favorite is vanilla bean. Unfortunately, my local running store doesn't always carry that flavor since they also have Gu in vanilla.

AFM: Spent most of last week at my DD's. She had strep throat and needed some help with the grandgals and with putting up stuff from their garden. We canned 17 quarts of peaches and put lima beans in the freezer. Didn't get any running in until Saturday after I got back and then only 2 miles. It was so hot DH and I thought we were going to melt! The good news is that even after carrying the grandbaby (all 18+ pounds of her) around the house and up and down the stairs, my knees didn't hurt any worse than before I left! However, I think I did get my hip out of whack. Oh well, it was worth it for all the cuddles I got.

Have a great day everyone and if it's hot where you are, be careful when you are outside!

Good morning team! Happy Monday!

Connie - Congrats on your 1lb loss! Any loss is fantastic news - big or small. That pound would be a huge deal for me :) Yes, you and Margie are very much fairy godmothers! Not sure what we would do without either of you  The anti-inflamatory diet pyramid is very interesting. I love Asian mushrooms (or any kind of mushrooms) so it's good to know that I can eat as much as I want.

Margie - A 6.1 mile walk and then you hopped on the bike for another 12! You go girl! Fantastic job! The food was yummy - and I loved sampling from all the different restaurants along the strip. One of the more interesting ones we picked up was a grilled calamari. It wasn't breaded so you could still see all the tentacles! It was raining when I was eating it so I couldn't juggle the umbrella, plate and camera phone. Definitely yes to the Wednesday Running Room group but am not sure about Mark...

Emily - WTG on your 6 miler! Hard to believe that it's almost time for the DL 1/2! This year has flown by with amazing speed. I'm not a fan of the gel shots myself. I find that I have an easier time eating the Clif Blocs. I'm not sure if it's too close to your race but if your running store carries them, you might want to give them a try. They remind me more of eating jujubs or gummy candy.

Mike - WTG to Liz on her training! And to you as well on your 14 miles! Sorry to hear about the hip pain. Do you know what might have caused it? I use to get hip pain as well which is why I started doing the deadlifts. I think you'll like the tech running socks. I find there's a huge difference between cotton and tech stuff. I save my cotton socks for working out at the gym. Make sure your laundry machine doesn't like to eat socks.

Sue - The new four bottle belt is great! No bouncing at all or chaffing from rubbing. It's awesome! I see what you mean about your elbows rubbing again the bottles but I have a bad habit of holding my arms a bit higher than I should (tense shoulders) so I haven't had any problems that way yet. Did you get a new winter jacket yet? Sorry to say, I'm a big Dole Whip fan

Kim - That sounds like some party! Hope it didn't wear you and Mike out. We had rain on and off yesterday but mostly humid weather. I did my 7K outside but it was very soupy - at least there was no sun. Taste of the Danforth was great! It was my first time - I ate way too much, especially the desserts. I'm kind of glad it was cloudy out because it doesn't look like there would have been much shade on the street. Did you manage to stay up until 9PM yesterday? Btw, what are epsom salts suppose to do?

Lynn - Glad to hear your pups are doing well! Can you scootch further up in the coral to put yourself further ahead and give yourself a nice time cushion?

Dave - One thing I've learned this year is that some people are never satisfied or happy with what they have. They will always be looking for that something else and I'm not sure they realize all the casualities left behind by their actions. I'm glad that you're moving forward and starting a new chapter in your life  The house hunting sounds like fun! I too am hoping it really is a buyer's market! Good luck with the overtime this week!

Gerry - The 5K through Universal would be cool! If you register for it, are you going to dress in a Harry Potter type costume?

Mary - Is freezing fruit and veggies hard? I mean, is there any special prep work that needs to be done or do you just wash, cut and throw them into a container? I have a case of mangos at home that I'd love to freeze. WTG on your 2 miler and I'm sure carrying your grandbaby around counts as cross training :) Hope your DD feels better soon!

AFM - I did a 21K run on Saturday and the weather was perfect - almost no humdity and the temps stayed cool. I finished in 2:17 which was a great pace for me. I'm feeling good about getting a 2:05-2:10 half time in September! The only thing I did that wasn't too great was I ran with my ankle brace on. The very bottom of the brace that hugs the arch section of my foot started throbbing a bit. It was more annoying than anything else but when I took off the brace, there was some major pain. It hurt enough that I couldn't stand on my foot or walk for about 30 minutes. Then I discovered that my parents have no ice cubes in the house (nor were they will to get any for me - but that's another story). So I had to get creative in order to make an ice bath. The 7K on Sunday also went really well - good pace in the humidity. I pushed myself whenever I felt like I was slowing down and finished in 44:00. If I had looked at my watch, I would have pushed a little harder to get it in under 44:00.

Tonight I've got a training session with my new physio Tyler. We did a very light session on Thursday and since I was somewhat of a bottomless pit on the weekend, I emailed him and asked for a tougher training session. He replied that Thursday was easy because of my ankle adjustment so tonight should be interesting.

I'm in taper mode starting this week for the 30K. I'm much happier to be done with the half marathon distance. I'm a little disappointed to have not done 25K and am hoping that won't affect me too much but I know it was probably better for my ankle. I'm planning to go out with the Running Room group on Wednesday and hopefully register for the Disney marathon training group they've got set up.

Have a great day everyone! :wave2:

Nick and I wondered for 4.5 miles today in an hour and 45 minutes. Primary objective was starting to work out, secondary was trying to find more fishing holes. We failed at our secondary objective. Nick's just happy to see me starting to work out again. We remembered our water this time too.

This has started a new wedding based fear for me. Now I'm afraid if I lose too much weight, I won't be able to wear my dress (it's a corset-like top with appliques and beading), and I'll have to find a new one because they'll probably discontinue mine. This is replacing my fear of falling out of love with the current dress, even though every time I see it, I turn girly and go "It's soooo PRETTY. Loveitloveitloveit."

Hi Team,

Thanks to everyone for their encouragement! I ran six today with two water breaks and walked two more. Pace was 9:47 a mile. I wanted ten miles, but it got too hot outside. We will be in the 90's for the rest of the week with scattered thunderstorms and high humidities. My hip was acting up again, no idea how I hurt it. I think it may be related to my back problems with my psiadic (psiatic?) nerve. I'm getting concerned with the Wine and Dine coming up. It's my first Half so I want to do my best and not have to walk part of it. I really want to finish with a sub ten minute pace in the 2:10 range.

I dropped Liz's bike off at the shop for a tune up before her triathalon, the new bike rack worked well and I am very happy with it.

Emily ~ We found that we like the Clif Shot-Bloks to fuel up during our long runs. Like eating blocks of Jello.

Hope ~ Liz also lost too much weight before our wedding. Her dress was a little loose and she was worried I would notice. Um, yeah, that's what I was thinking about on our wedding day... (sarcasm) It was easier to get her out of though.....pirate:

Hope you are all well today, Mike :cool2:

Hey everyone!

Margie- Haha, that’s ok. I am not even doing speedwork at this stage in the game. I’m taking baby steps. ;) Still, I think walking a 5 on the DM is very impressive!! :worship: I have tried out the new shoes. I’ve been walking in them when I can, but I’m nervous to run in them because I know I’ll be sore after.

Dave- I’m glad you’re feeling well and the stress is going away! Way to get your GRRR on! Great quote by the way.

Vicky- I’d really like to run the ½ in the five fingers, but it depends on how I adjust to them. I know it’s going to take time b/c I’m using muscles I usually don’t, but don’t want it to mess with my training, so I haven’t run in them yet and have just been walking in them. How’d your workout today go? Awesome job on your 21K!!! That’s great! Be careful with that ankle!!

Lynn- Great job making it through your last long walk before DL!!! WTG!!! Did you feel comfortable with where your time was?

Connie- I agree, definitely sounds like some hard work ahead! Think of how beautiful it will be when it’s done though! Congrats on the 1 pound!!!

Gerry- It would be cool if you did get to run through Hogs mead/Hogwarts! Good luck finding a fall 5K.

Mary- You had a busy week!!

Emily- You may want to try to practice as much as possible with your amphipod on your long runs so you get a good feel for how it will be on race day and can make sure you aren’t going to have any issues with it when you’re running the half. I’m glad you found a brand of gel you like. A soccer game sounds like fun! Café Orleans sounds like a yummy post-half celebration meal. I’m sure you’ll do great!!

Sue- How’d the new Alchemy’s work out on Sat? I’ll be at 1900 PF for breakfast, so I think that’s the Mad Hatter, Alice, and so on for that character breakfast. I’ve never been to Boma before. I’m looking forward to it though! Eventually, we’d like to work our way over to the AK for a resort stay too!

Hope- I’m glad you made it out for a 4.5 mile walk today! Exercising is not supposed to make you worry!

AFM, I cannot yet say I am a dole whip fan yet. I like pineapple ok, but didn’t give it a second glance the last time we were there. However, this time I will give it a try and reserve judgment until I’ve tried it and then decide if I love or hate it.

Holy cow I did not realize how behind I had gotten in posting!! I was like 4 pages behind! Today was an ok day…it was a Monday, but nothing too bad. DH is at work tonight so it’s just me and Sydney kicking it at home. I’m filling out an application to participate in a volunteer program for young girls in elementary school. I’d have to leave work early/flex my time 2 days a week so I’m hoping I can get this approved from management. I think it will be a lot of fun and I’m really looking forward to it! We will see how it goes.

Also, I'm really liking my five finger shoes, but am afraid to run in them just yet because I know how sore I'm going to be after. DH loves his! He wears them everywhere and is already planning to get more. I enjoy walking in mine and eventually will work my way up to running in them. I plan to run tomorrow, but not sure how many miles yet. Hope everyone has a wonderful day tomorrow.

Hi Team,

I know, it's a silly fear, I'd have a long way to go before getting to the falling down point. Nick has already threatened to bring his knife to do a Jack Sparrow on the corset back on our wedding night. I said no.

Hey everyone!

Hope- I’m glad you made it out for a 4.5 mile walk today! Exercising is not supposed to make you worry!

I know. I keep telling myself I'm nuts to worry about it. I should enjoy being out in the sunshine, moving, and being with Nick. Not stressing out about if I get too skinny to fit into my dress.

Hello Team!

Connie - I too prefer donuts to gu. There's a great bakery near us that sells guava filled pastries, but I'm resisting going there until after the half.

Mary - I'll have to try the vanilla flavor. Most stores I've checked sell the mocha or espresso flavors, yuck. I don't drink coffee so I don't like anything with that flavor.

Vicky - WTG on your 21K! I've tried Clif Blocs and I did like them. I also really like beans. I've been trying to get used to gu because not having to chew is an advantage. I may still revert to blocs or beans.

Hope - Exercise shouldn't stress you out. I had a corset back wedding dress too. I had some weight changes leading up to the wedding and the great thing about the corset was that I could adjust the lacing to my liking.

Regina - I wore my amphipod again today. It felt better than the first time I wore it. One downside is I feel like the belt makes me sweat more around the waist, but I think it is something I can deal with. Next, I want to try it with the stuff I plan to carry on race day. My DH and I went to Boma on our Disneymoon. We thought it was great! We will definitely go there again the next time we visit WDW. What kind of work will you be doing in the volunteer program you are applying for?

AFM, DH and I did 4 miles tonight. Other than not much going on today.

Hope everyone has a good day tomorrow!

Good morning, Team!

I guess I am the first one up this morning! Margie, where are you???

Hope - As your future MIL will tell you, it is sooooooo much easier to take a dress up than to let a dress out! Have no fear, there are seamstresses who specialize in that!

Emily - I am not a fan of gels of any kind. But, a Chocolate Mint gu (only available at Christmas) is not so bad. It's kind of like having Chocolate Mint syrup.

Regina - What are five finger shoes? Do you wear them on your hands?? :lmao: Sorry, my vivid imagination works soooooooo overtime. -- Don't worry about getting behind in your reading. Just join in where you are!

Dave???

Vicky - Just really cold water is as good as an ice bath, I think. I have never used ice, but the cold water works just fine.

Mary - It's always nice to spend time with the grands, even under difficult circumstances! You are now a member of the "Bippity-Boppity Boo, Fairy Grandmother" club!

AFM - I will be making pickled okra today. I didn't get much done, yesterday because I had to go out to the farm and check on the kittens and the mules. One of the mules we have is quite old...20 years. She has been horribly abused at some point in her life, but she has always taken to me. So, I am going to work up to making her my riding mule.

Better get outta here. Work waits! How come fun never does???

See ya - Connie

I hope so, I have a couple inches left before the corset sides will meet. Wish I could tone down my arms though so I don't look like "Hulk Bride." And no back fat. I also found out one woman spent almost as much on her alterations (taking in) as I spent on my dress :scared1: I try to keep reminding myself that this is a silly fear and to get over it, but I'm sure other brides had silly fears too.

Just wanted to chime in here as we were just having a conversation about wedding dresses on Sunday. My husband's cousin was at our house and she and her daughters own a store that sells wedding and prom dresses. They do all of the alterations for anyone who purchases a dress at her store. She was telling us about a bride who came into the store 4 days before the wedding and asked to have her dress altered. She, unlike you Hope, need to have the dress let out as she had gained weight. My DH's cousin said they would not be able to do it on such short notice as there were others ahead of her and had to send her somewhere else where the price would be much higher. So, don't wait until the last minute to do something about the dress. You may wind up paying much more than you'd like.

I know better then to wait until four days before we leave to do anything other then pack. I couldn't imagine waiting until four days before to get it altered!

Nothing exciting to report. Poured with rain last night. Ending up going to yoga. Don't think I have been all summer. Need to get back at it. Just hard trying to get all the different aspects of training in & still having a life of grocery shopping, cleaning, laundry etc.

Vicky, I read your post to fast. Thought you ate te*t*cles not tentacles.:rotfl:

Connie, I love the choc. mint gu. Just bought a case. Seems they are making it a regular flavour now not just for Christmas. :thumbsup2

Regina, Had a great run in the new shoes. Thanks for asking. Nothing like something new to give you a little extra motivation.

Margie, :wave2: I'm feeling pretty good today. Not my ususal upsidedown self.

Good Evening Team!

I found an open wifi spot!

I am in Ca., made it here in 2 days, drove 15 hours yesterday and 6 hours today. No exercise.

I will spend the next 2 days moving my brother from one house to another.

Emily - I have trouble with the texture of gu, but I do like the clif shot blocks and especially like the sport beans (jelly beans). They are also not as messy as gels - I was never able to open a pack of gel without getting at least some of it on my hands, and then they are sticky the rest of the race!

Hi to everyone else, I will try to get back on here tomorrow night, as I know I can find wifi as long as we are in this house - don't know about the new house.

Dave - How are the OT hours working out for you? Do you still have time to see Sally? Are the hours permanent or just temporary for a few months?

Kim - :wave2: How's the training going for USAF?

Lynn - Glad you arrived safely! Did you make the drive by yourself?

Sue - What style of yoga class do you go to?

Mary - Thanks for the link on mangoes! There was some interesting stuff in there, especially the part about raw green mangoes. I didn't know they were closely related to poison ivy. Go figure!!

Margie - Yup I ate the calamari! I love seafood so I thought it was really good. The tentacles don't bother me but I know some people were expecting the breaded fried kind. You could see the calamari before buying it so it wasn't a surprise or anything like that :)

Connie - How long do mules live? How did the pickling go?

Emily - WTG on the 4 miler! How's your calf feeling these days? Has the bruising started to disappear?

Regina - Have you gotten any comments from other runners on the Vibram shoes? The workout was pretty good - the physio showed me some new core exercises which I'd never done before. I'm hoping that he keeps the deadlifts in the program but that will be up to him.

AFM - Not much of import to report today. I had to travel to the east end of the city from downtown yesterday. It's an area known as the Beaches. Strangely it takes almost as long to travel there as it does from downtown to my house. Anyway, it was pretty humid so rather than spend an hour on the streetcar (no a/c and slow), I figured I'd take a cab. Plus I was running late  I get into the cab and we get half way there and he ends up having to detour because of construction. Traffic was pretty bad on the street that he chose so he made a left turn onto a residential street to avoid the traffic. Well, it was on of those streets with a turn restriction so we ended up waiting about 20 minutes for the police officer to write him a ticket. I guess he was lucky because the cop said he could have got a ticket for $110 with two demerit points but he decided to give him a break and give him an $18.75 ticket instead with no demerit points.

I'll be going out to run with the running group tonight. I think they've got another set of hill repeats planned. I'm just hoping it doesn't rain.

Have a great day everyone! :wave2:

Good Morning Team!

Margie - Actually, we are also doing a cruise for New years Eve that I do not have a thingie for. I think of the Repo and Alaskan as one cruise as it is a Back to back. It will be a big cruising year - just because of special cruises - the one to Alaska, and the Dream. The New Years Eve one we were talked into by our cruise buddies, they thought there might be a chance of seeing the Dream, but now that seems like it will not happen.

Vicky - Yes I drove out by myself - not even the dogs to keep me company. Thank goodness for books on tape, I listened to several on the way out - it is almost all on interstate - except for the last 2 hours of driving.

My brother had to work today, so I am on my own for the day. I will get out for a walk after breakfast, I have some business to do in town (see the Realtor and the accountant), and then I will spend the day packing up the few things he has left in Dad's house, so that tomorrow we can haul it all up to the new house. I am hoping that closing on this house will be next week. Then I can close out Dad's estate.

Dave - glad you have a calmer week. How was Padukah this week?

Hi Kim - hope your day goes well!

Vicky, I feel your taxi pain. Last week for work we needed to go to Dufferin Rd/Finch area via Avenue Rd. Crazy road construction. Our driver did not get a ticket though but it took forever.
Is it not just The Beach now! Don't the locals get offended if you say beaches.;) Enjoy the hills.

Margie, I'm interested in the 5 finger shoes but new Mizunos were more of a priority. Got them last week. Maybe in the fall. If I get a pair I don't think I would run in them but use them for kicking around shoes.

Connie, Can't say we eat alot of okra around here. Maybe in stew/ soup. Didn't even know that it would be something that you would pickle.

Lynn, 15 hours of driving. Was that solo or shared duties?

Got out for a rather hot 10k last night. Taking tonight off for a pedi.:thumbsup2

Hi Team!

Got in a short 30 minute walk/run this morning. Ran on the indoor track since it's so hot, even early in the morning. Worked on quads and hamstrings while at the gym as well. My knee felt a little wonky when I got home, so I put some ice on it for a while.

The rest of the day has been an R&R day for me. Met with my knitting group this morning. It was our last morning meeting for a long while as some of the members of our group are teachers and school starts here next week. We stayed together longer than usual today---I think that no one wanted to leave as we knew that our get togethers will be shorter now. Afterwards, I went for a massage. I try to get one once a month. Really helps to keep the muscles stretched, especially the hamstring that knotted up on me in my second half. It's been a sore spot ever since.

Vicky....hope your mangoes turned out great!

Dave...good luck in the house hunt in a few weeks. pixiedust: to Sally on her upcoming surgery.

Hello Team! :wave2:

Lynn - I don't really like the gu texture either, but I've been trying to get used to it. I like that I don't have to chew, but agree they are messy. I had sticky hands during my long run last weekend. I'll probably decide after my longest training run this weekend what product I want to use for the half. Will this be your first time doing the DL half?

Vicky - My calf is feeling better lately. I still have some pain when I run but it's more of a dull pain now. The bruising has started to disappear but it hasn't changed much since last week, it looks significantly better than right after the accident. How was your run with the running group?

AFM - This week has been pretty quiet, not much going on. I did some of my Jillian Michaels 30 day shred DVD tonight. I'll be back out for a run tomorrow night.

Have a good evening!

Lynn I am so jealous. I love cruising!!!!! We just got back from Alaska well a few months ago now...wow time flys. It was amazing you will love it!!!!

I have started WW with a friend of mine, I am not happy with all my working out and not seeing any results except I can do more push ups so need to get some control over the eatting part. So I figure WW is a good fit as long as I stay in my points as the P90X diet just looked to carb restrictive which I don't think is a good idea with doing P90X and training for my races.

Hope everyone has a great day...running late today. Forgot to boil my eggs so now I have to wait for them to boil before I have breaky!!!

Sunny so that means Real Feel will be high 90-100’s-
High 90°; Humidity 93%

Connie-

Dave- WTG nice 6-miler
When is Sally’s surgery scheduled?

Emily- how do you like the Jillian Michael’s DVD?

I think most of us had to get used to the GU-
For me it is more of what works best to refuel my body.
I do not think about taste or texture. I can tell almost immediately
that I have refueled after GU. As for the sticky hands- you quickly
learn where not to touch. I wash the pouches off at home, tear off
the top, and use my teeth to pull the GU from the package. If I get
it on my fingers-after I drink I pour a little water on my fingers.

I do not like to chew things when I walk.
But have used the beans as a treat when reaching mile points like
the 16-miler.

Hope-WOW - WTG- I did not realize you and Nick were doing
the P90X! Captain Connie has assured me we would not bulk
up and get the ‘Men’s Muscles’ if we did not take steroids!

Kim- A Buddy really helps – WTG with WW.
I too think it is harder to lose weight when you are doing a lot of
walking and exercise.

Lynn-what types of books do you like to read/listen to.
Any favorite authors?
I really tried to do some mystery but it they are just not for me.
Nor do I like ALL history and no story for pleasure reading.
I still go back to historical romances-

It will be nice to have everything finished, moved, and closed.
It seems like you have had to deal with all these things for quite a while.

Awesome- I need to get your Cruises on the Team Calendar!

Hi everyone! Just a quick drive by for me today...

Margie - No I haven't gone running with him again. I still feel a little ... awkward. Monday's training session with the PT was great! Lots of tough core exercises and he threw in some balancing work as well to try and strengthen my ankle. I'm going back tonight so I'll let you know how that goes!

Sue - How was the pedi? What colour did you get? I can't remember if you're doing Scotia this year. Is it just The Beach now  Ooops! They should just rename summer construction season.

Kim - I did WW several years ago and loved it! I'm sure they've made a lot of changes since then. I'm going to push a low sugar or no refined sugar diet again because it's really worked for me.

Emily - Bruises take forever to disappear on me but seem to form quickly enough. I did the Shred DVD a while ago - it's pretty challenging!

Mary - Freezing the mangoes went well, just more labor intensive than anything else. I'll save it for a weekend next time :) Hope your knee is feeling better today!

Dave - Hope everything goes well for Sally pixiedust:

Lynn - That is quite the drive! I'll have to remember the audiobooks the next time I make a trip! How did the packing up go?

AFM - I got to the store late so I got "adopted" into the group that's training for a 5K. It was cute because they'd just reached the 7/1 run walk intervals and were so proud! I didn't have to heart to tell them that I was training for a 30K but I got a lot of "speedy" comments when we got back. I thought it was funny. They did a 4K and I had to come back for them a few times. I cheered a lot of them and helped with the pacing of some of their faster runners so that was fun. I'll try to make sure to get there on time next week so I can go out with a marathon or 1/2 marathon group.

Good Morning Team!

Dave - pixie dust to Sally for her surgery next week!

Vicky - I don't like chewing either, so with both the shot blocks and the jelly beans, I just put them in my cheek and let them disolve slowly.

Margie - My favorite genre is mystery, but in audio books I will usually go for adventure - Clive Custler, JD Robb, are some of the authors I listen to - Janet Evanovich is one of my favorites, but I have read all her books, but sometimes listen to one just for fun.

Although it is really nice and cool here, still did no walking. I spent yesterday seeing the accountant and realtor, then packing up boxes of things that are still in the house. Today we get to move everything either up to my brothers new place, or up to a storage locker, so that everything is out of the house. Closing hopefully will be sometime next week. While I am waiting for my brother to wake up, I researched where there are hotels I could stay at for my trip home.

Have a great day all!

Good Morning Team!

Vicky, I'm not up on all the different yoga types. I guess it could be "Hot Yoga" because the studio's HVAC system is terrible. :rotfl:
I wear China Glaze polish not OPI. Their polish seems to last so long. Went really bright with the colour 'Pool Party'.
No Scotia this year. Doing Niagara Falls in Oct.
I can't remember if you are doing the Wine & Dine?

Kim, Good luck with WW.

Margie, No running flats for me. I'm a severe over-pronator.

I love any of the orange flavour bloks & beans but as our weather gets colder they get harder. I've thought I've chipped a tooth a few times eating these on cold days. I stick with Gu (orange or mint choc.). On really long runs I go with a Gu Roctane (vanilla orange) about mile 20.
My all time fav. is the brand Honey Stingers ( a disboards recommendation) but very hard to find in Canada.

Have a great day everyone............Sue

Good morning y'all.

Sally has her surgery next Tues. I will be working in Paducah but her sister will be with her, and I'll keep in touch by phone. The extra work I'm doing is helping us get the funds together to get in a house much sooner and set up house keeping. I need Disney money for January also.

My PF appears to be under control now but I'm still taking it easy and safe. I walked yesterday and today was just good stretching in the hot whirlpool. I don't want to reinjure and will not be doing a race this weekend.

I'm ready fot my january Disney break now but I'm not ready to handle a Goofy right now. I'll be back in War Panda shape by then. I have a half next month and the olympic trials after that so I need to get it together real soon.

I wanna do a cruise to.

Do you ask for a runner's pedicure? Just curious because I usually do my on manis and pedis. But the girl I sit beside said that some estheticians will give a "runner's pedicure" which keeps the nails shorter than usual but not too short.

I like Essie but have a collection of OPI. I've never tried China Glaze before. I went over to the Eaton Center at lunch picked up a bottle of Paradoxal today. I don't usually buy Chanel but this was such a gorgeous color - it's a grey purple with gold specks!

Hi Team,
Just a real quick check-in today, I made it ten miles on Tuesday, but with a slow pace of 10:47 a mile. My heart rate was steady at 68% to 72%. That's never happened before.
It's been REALLY FREAKING HOT here, and it's been called the worst mosquito season ever!

Hey team!!!!

Vicky, I have cut down my sugars big time but not ready to give it all up yet. While training for Goofy last year I cut out sugars cold turkey and my legs where a mess and believe it or not my stride was way off, it was such a effort just to get in 5K. So I am weaning off sugar slowly so I don't suffer the same withdrawl symptoms.

We have a street party here tomorrow so I have decided to avoid the food time and just eat my meal in the house and it is going to be water for me. I have to decide which I want more right now, success with my weight or a few smirnoffs. I am sure I will get some comments from my neighbours but that's OK, I will just ask them what they are in training for:snooty:

Good morning, Team!

I have been hooked up like a sled dog. Jon has been off work and we have been up at the crack of dawn working with the mules and then running errands in the afternoon. I am tired of it! I took the day off. The house is a wreck and I am sore from the unusual activities. I have a ton of vegetables to deal with, including peaches. We picked 4 - 5 gallon buckets yesterday!

Calgon....take me away! Anyone else remember that old commercial?

Pickled okra is a southern Thang! It is quite tasty and nutritious! Doesn't work in stews though. Mine is wonderful, just a little warmth from the jalopenas I add.

Well, I'm off to get things done.

See ya - Connie

Connie- Jeez…I will have to talk to Jon!
Take care and hope you get a few minutes of ‘Me’ time.
Thanks – I will try the suggestion on the pyramid

Kim- WTG – Great Attitude.
I am with you on the sugar. I do not know how Vicky does it.
I know we get sugar naturally from fruits and processed foods...
I was shocked when I read the ingredients on raw spaghetti!

Lynn- I think I heard you would be starting home soon.
Possibly rice and chicken for dinner!

I have read lots of Nora Roberts but only a few of her J.D. Robb series.

Clive Custler-never read any of his books. That would be more my DD

Janet Evanovich - not positive will need to look her up.
I think she has some that have a touch of humor-possibly co-authored.

I do like Catherine Coutler-read all her Historical Series-but only a couple of her Mystery‘s

Mike-WTG-nice run.
The heat, humidity, and mosquitoes has reached Far & Wide!

Scott- how did the PT session go?

Sue- New Shoes :goodvibes
You Too-interesting polish :rolleyes1
As I shared with Vicky - my DD who will only be 34 next Monday is
one who enjoys changing hair color and loves bold nails.
I like the natural look. I have worn the same color OPI
Honeymoon Sweet for a long time. French on the pedicures.

Good Morning Team!

Yes, tomorrow I will be heading back. Tonight we should be sleeping in my brothers new place - we moved most everything up there yesterday. It will be an early start tomorrow, so I will probably be off line until I get home - unless I hit a hotel early enough with free wifi - but most likely will be off until Monday.

Dave - good luck with the training.

Margie - Janet Evanovich is funny, Catherine Coulter I have not read yet, but she is on the list to try, if I can find her in the library.

Connie - have a good day off, those peaches sound really good.

Kim - good luck with the WW.

Hi team! Happy Friday the 13th! Hope everyone has a touch of good luck today :)

Kim/Margie - I do a low sugar so the only things I truly avoid are foods with refined sugars. Things like fruits or dairy that have naturally occurring sugars are still on my diet. If you cut out the refined sugars from your diet even for a week, you'll find when you go back, a lot of foods are really sweet. One food that's really easy to switch is going from peanut butter to natural peanut butter. Natural PB is just ground up peanuts while regular PB has oils, sugars and salt in it. I also eat foods with refined sugars - jams, chocolate milk etc. on LR days. They're too difficult to avoid then. Weekdays I also try to cut out sweetners because I've found that increases my craving for something sweet. If you want, I can give you a sample menu of what I eat in a day.

Margie - Yeah, I'm a little disappointed with the lunch runs but I think I'm going to stick with my gut on this one. The polish is pretty cool! I'll take a picture and post it when get around to doing my nails. I have a bottle of Honeymoon Sweet at home too!!

Kim - Have fun at your street party! I wish our neighbourhood would do something like that.

Mike - Yikes on the bugs and heat! Great pace though :)

Lynn - Safe travels! Do you have a new set of audiobooks for the trip back home?

AFM - I worked out with a new trainer yesterday. Her name is Katie and she's one of the chiropractors at the clinic. I did a half hour with her and she was telling me about some of the fitness competitions she was involved in. I didn't realize they had to wear 5" heels on stage. Yikes! I have a hard time walking in anything higher than 3". Did a couple of new exercises including core and single leg deadlifts.

Short runs planned for this weekend - the longest will be 10K! Yay! I love taper! But I won't be saying that for several months once marathon training starts.

Have a great day/weekend everyone! :wave2:

Good Afternoon Team!

Hope everyone is having a great "Friday the 13th".

Vicky, I'm not sure what a "runner's pedi" actually is but my nails are keep quite short. Having nice feet/ nails are a huge pet peeve of mine.
A coworker introduced me to Lush about 2 months ago. The smell was always a turn off & I never went into the store. Now I'm addicted. Love the foot cream (Pied de Pepper). It's unbelievable. Also love their solid shampoo.
Nice work on cutting out the sugar. I'm pretty good but could do with a little less chocolate.;)

Lynn, Safe travels home.

Margie, I read on my commute to work. Have heard of the authors mentioned but haven't read any of their work. Right now I'm reading Stieg Larsson Series.....The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. I'm missing something & I don't get all the hype about these books.

Have a great weekend & week. I'm on vacation at the cottage until the 23rd.
Stay cool, drinks lots of water & have fun training.......Sue

Hello Team!

Lynn - Have a safe trip home!

Margie - I like the Jillian Michaels DVD just not when I'm actually doing the workout :) I haven't done it in ~2 months so it's tough right now. I started doing the DVD around April, maybe 2-3 a week and saw results. There are 3 workouts on the DVD, I've only done Level 1 and 2.

Vicky - The Shred DVD is pretty challenging. I haven't done it in a while, it's difficult to get back into it.

AFM - I wasn't feeling too well yesterday, I still went out for my training run but I did more walking then running. Just cleaning and running errands for me today.

The Perseid meteor shower is going on right now. Last night was the peak, but the viewing tonight will still be good. Try to get away from city lights for the best view. Although if you're in a city like I am you can still see some of the brighter ones. I went up to the roof of my apartment building around 10p and saw two bright ones, which was pretty good considering the light pollution and smog. Look to the north, best time is midnight to early morning hours.

Have a good weekend!

DH and I went out and watched the meteor shower last night. We own some farmland, so we went out there to watch. Saw one really bright one right away, and then 2 or 3 smaller ones. Had to get up early to go to the gym, so we called it quits early. Might go back out tonight though.

I was also able to see the Milky Way for the first time since I was a girl. Loved it!

Hey team!

Connie- http://www.vibramfivefingers.com/products/products_footwear.cfm
These are five finger shoes. They’re actually really comfortable. Pickled okra huh? Is there anything you don’t pickle?

Hope- Even if you have to spend money on altering your dress, the important thing is that you feel confident and beautiful in your dress on your wedding day, whether it has been altered a little, a lot, or not at all. Worst case scenario- you have to take in your dress and spend extra money to do so. Either way, I’m sure you will still be a beautiful bride in a stunning dress. :goodvibes Way to go on the P90X!!

Lynn- Have a safe trip home!!

Sue- Have fun at the cottage!

Vicky- I haven’t worn them for running yet, just out and about. We have gotten a couple comments on our shoes, but not too many. That’s cool you got some new core exercises. I love that you got adopted into the 5K group.:rotfl: At least you know they’re a friendly supportive bunch!

Emily- I’m glad your amphipod felt better when you wore it again. When I wear my fuel belt I sweat a lot more around the waist as well. It’s really nice to have fluids on me when I need them though. I’m sorry you weren’t feeling too well yesterday. I hope you’re feeling better today. Thanks for the info on the meteor shower!

Margie- Did you make it out this evening for any kind of work out?

If they accept me, I would be working in a volunteer program that trains girls to run in a 5K while teaching them life lessons. I know I will pass the background check because I have had to do several background checks for different jobs I have had (including my current one). I hope my application answers were ok though. I always worry my answers seem silly or something. I submitted my application yesterday so hopefully I’ll hear back soon! If I’m not selected, then I guess it just wasn’t meant to be. I think it would be a lot of fun though.

I would love to go on a Team Hakuna Matata cruise!

AFM, I’m still in major slacker mode. I just have no motivation to train some days. It’s like I’ve lost some mojo or something. I skipped my Sun run and ran on Wed instead of Tues, but also skipped weights again. On Wed when I ran the goal was 4 miles, but I stopped at about 3.5 mi and had to walk the last little bit. I just wasn’t feeling well- kind of sick to my stomach. And my feet have kind of been hurting on the sides (outer side). It’s not a constant hurting, just here and there? I also wanted to run yesterday but my head hurt so bad by the time I got home from work it took the rest of the evening to go away. I don’t know what my problem is, but I need to snap out of it! I’m supposed to run 3 miles tomorrow and 10 on Sunday…guess we’ll see how it goes! I think that’s about all I’ve got going on over here.

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!!!

Happy Saturday Team!

I ran eight and walked two more yesterday. Pace on the run was 10:14 so I've picked up the speed a little. No workout today as I had a funeral for a past co-worker and friend. (Diabetes sucks!) Not really in the mood to run in the heat. I did 24 miles total this week so I'm good with taking the day off. Put away the laundry, balanced the checkbook, and maybe going for an early dinner with Liz.

Margie~ when I saw Kirstie at the Everest Challenge she said that she wouldn't be racing any more because they couldn't fix her chair. She said that she would check in here... I miss her!
No nerves for Liz yet, she has trained hard for her Tri and is ready to go. My schedule is up in the air at work, so I have to do some major fanagaling to make sure I get that day off. We will be heading to WI on Saturday, picking up her race packet and heading to the Milwaukee Zoo for the day. The race is early on Sunday.

Regina~ You will find the mojo again! Don't let it get you down!

Kim and Mike~ Happy Anniversary!!! :woohoo:

Dave~ How's the "new" job going? Congrats on being single! May the ladies line up at your door and you still remain a gentleman! (No offense to Sally!)

Connie~ Yes! I remember the Calgon commercial, do you recall the Palmolive one's with Marge soaking her hands?

Vicky~ You in heels! I don't think I could take it! pirate:

Hi everyone! Another humid day in the city! I was out for a 10K this morning and then went around town to get some errands done. I was thinking about making some of lunches and dinners for the week but it's pretty warm out so I don't feel like turning on the stove to cook.

Kim - Happy anniversary to you and Mike! Hope you're both have a wonderful day :)

Margie - WTG on the 6:30 AM walk with Nikki! It's much nicer when you have someone to go out with! Has it rained there yet? I hope things cool down or at least the humidity goes away. How's little Hagen doing? Any improvement on his condition?

Scott - Feel free to send the cool breeze up north!

Regina - We've all gotten in the training slump from time to time. Don't let it get you down  As Margie and Mike have said, it's been a difficult summer (heat-wise) so it's hard been hard to keep your motivation up. We're all cheering you on though!!

I've gotten the side foot pain before - I wish I could tell you what it's from but it comes and goes for me. My PT and chiro were never able to figure out the reason behind mine. Best guess they had was that my foot was trying to find balance and when that happens, there are tiny muscles on the side of your feet that try to "grip" the floor to give you stability and balance. Do you find that happens with you lift as well?

Mary - That's awesome that you got to watch the meteor shower! I wanted to but there isn't a place in the city without light pollution. To get a nice view of the night sky, we'd need a massive power failure to get out about 2 hours from the city. Sounds like it was lot of fun though.

Mike - Sorry to hear about your friend :( I know a lot of people with type II diabetes who don't take things very seriously. I wish they would. I walk like a linebacker when my heels are too high! Not quite as graceful as some of the other girls I know. I did read an article recently about women shortening their calf muscles from constantly wearing heels so I guess I'm not too upset. Can't wait to hear about Liz's tri! Tell her good luck from all of us!

Sue - Have fun at the cottage! I always stayed away from Lush too because the smell. I'm not much of a perfumey/scent kind of person but I'll check out the foot cream the next time I head up to the Eaton Center.

Connie - That's a lot of peaches! You must put in hours preparing all the fruit and veggies - the picking, preparation and the pickling! Any plans for a peach pie or are they just going to be canned?

AFM - I was bored this afternoon so decided to go for a mini walk around a neighbourhood in midtown Toronto. I passed by a shop that sold baked goods and popped in and ended up picking up four cupcakes and two cookies. So there goes the low sugar diet after all :rolleyes1... well I figure the 30K next Saturday will help out :cutie:

Hope everyone is having a great weekend so far!! :wave2:

Hello Team!

Mary - I'm glad you were able to see the meteor shower! You should be able to see some for the next several nights.

Vicky - I'm not able to see the meteor shower very well either, there is a lot of light of pollution in So Cal. The meteor shower happens every year, so I hope I can plan a trip to get out of the city next year. I also saw that article about the effects of wearing heels. I'm not very graceful in heels either.

Mike - Sorry to hear about your friend.

Kim and Mike - Happy Anniversary! Hope you have a wonderful day.

Margie - WTG on your walk!

Regina - The volunteer program sounds really neat, I hope you get selected!

Sue - Have fun at the cottage!

AFM - DH and I did 10 miles at walk 3/ run 1 min today. This was our longest run yet and the longest one we will do in our training. I thought it went well.

I'll be doing laundry the rest of the day. I have a potluck for my softball team tomorrow. I'm making rice krispie treats to take to the party.

Mike - "you're soaking in it!" Just to prove how gentle Palmolive really is! :lmao: Here's one: Josephine the plumber? -- Sorry your friend has diabetes. He can live a very long, very productive, practically normal life, if he wants too!

Regina - Thanks for the info. I thought that was probably the shoes you were talking about. Good luck with the volunteer program.

Kim and Mike - Happy Anniversary! You have been married all of your lives, haven't you?

Vicky - 5 inch heels are not for walking in. They are for wearing to bed! :rolleyes1

Sue - Thanks for the info! Now, I don't have to stock up on the Chocolate Mint Gu at Christmas!! :woohoo:

Emily - great job on your 10 mile run! Isn't it exhilerating discovering that you can REALLY do that???

Margie - Yea, sled dogs get great treatment, when they aren't on the dang sled! I have been on the sled for years!!!! :rotfl: The difference between a back of the pack dog and the lead dog is: When you're in the pack, the view never changes! :lmao: I 'm just a back of the pack kinda girl! -- Great job on the workouts. Now, motivate me, too!

Dave= Tell Sally to get well soon!

AFM - Being an ant (you know storing up for the winter) is a full time job! Today, I used 2 quarts of the peaches to make jam. There's still a lot of peaches left and bunch still on the trees. Then there are the apples to pick and I am still doing okra every other day. There will be peach pies and peach wine, before I finish with the peaches! Apple pies. Apple preserves, apple butter and apple wine. Then hunting season will start and there will be Elk to process and deer, perhaps a hog. Want to live in the country????

Good Morning Team!

I guess that at least part of that saying about "Early to bed, early to rise" is true. I had a headache last night, so I turned in early. Now here it is, 6:30 on a Sunday morning, and I'm awake. However, I don't think I'm any wiser!:rolleyes1

Mike...I agree. Diabetes does suck! When I went to my high school reunion earlier this summer, there was a woman there in a wheelchair. When I went to talk with her, I could see that she had had her leg amputated below the knee. I asked her what happened and she said she had been diabetic since she was 19 and it had finally caught up with her. :sad1:I have another friend that is diabetic that I met here on the DIS, and the next day I sent her a very heart felt note asking her to take care of herself!

Vicky...I think I have only worn heels twice in the last seven years. Both times were for my DD's weddings! And even then, I found Isotoner slippers that matched my dress to wear for the receptions!

Connie and Mike...I guess we're showing our age! I remember all those commercials, and still use the Calgon expression whenever I'm overwhelmed about something. How about Alka Seltzer? Plop, plop, fizz, fizz...?

AFM: Did 4 miles yesterday, again on the indoor track. Had to walk a good deal of the last half mile as my right hip was giving me some pain. I think it might be related to carrying DGD on my hip last week. Probably something is out of alignment. Going to call the chiro tomorrow to see if I can get in and get straightened out. Going to run some errands after church, then probably will come back home and get some things done here.

Hi, Team,

I've been traveling quite a bit lately and this has been my first opportunity to say hello. I've been keeping up with my training since mother's recovery from her serious accident. I'm still looking for a first 5k that fits my crazy schedule.

Enjoy the day, everyone! Happy 15th to Kim & DH and Happy 23rd to Mike!

when you saw her?

Regina-when will you know about the girls program?
I do volunteer to work at the Girls on the Run race here.

Scott- Hummm...Rest & Recovery includes 'Lots of Projects?'
When is your Medone scheduled to arrive-I have to dream through
you and want to see pictures of your bike!!!!

Vicky-it seems you have a weakness for cupcakes! :cutie:
No the heat and humidity is still high here.
High Heels not good for anyone much less a runner!
Totally do not understand why anyone would want to wear 5-inch heels.
Yes, interested in a sample of your daily diet.

Thank you all!!!

I have a delima (just don't know how to spell it) Mike and I have been wrestling on which race to do in January.

At first I thought I wanted to do another Goofy, then decided and I know this sounds weird but since when I did my first goofy it is was also my first marathon that I didn't give the marathon the praise it deserved, the mickey medal came off and only wore the goofy.

So figured I would do the marathon and give it all I had. Now I am not sure I have the marathon in me. I had a stonker of a walk on Friday night and am doubting I can do it again. SO we decided that since the 1/2 is close to full we better register for it and give up on the marathon dream. Now while sitting in front of the computer staring at the mickey medal....although I don't like it, I can't bring myself to register for the 1/2...

Does any of this make sense? I didn't lose the weight I wanted to, although still have time for that, still deal on and off with PF,....ugh I am a mess today.

Thoughts please!!!:grouphug:

Hi team! We've got heavy thunderstorms passing through the area so hopefully I get to finish my post. My laptop battery has been dead for sometime and since a replacement is going to cost about $200, I figured I might as well get a new laptop. I'm just hanging onto this one until there's a good sale or it dies completely :)

Kim - Keep thinking about it for a little while longer. I always register when the percentage closes in on 90% I like living on the edge :upsidedow (and I can always register through the Disney Sports travel company). Don't let one training walk dictate which race you pick. This summer has been hot, humid and extremely difficult for running or walking. Try doing the same training distance in two months from now and I'll bet it will be a world of difference in the cool October weather! If you're able to make a few key changes with your diet and exercise, you'll see results in 6 weeks ... but you have to work at it. Trust me, I've seen it done and I know you - so I know you can do it! :thumbsup2

I can't tell you which race to pick because I've never done a marathon or the oofy. Personally, from what you've told me about the race last year - I think you have it in you to do the Goofy again. Just remember, you are one tough cookie! But if you're looking for a more relaxed weekend, go with the 1/2 or the full. Maybe the full would be a good option and then you'll be able to have the entire experience of the full. Whatever you decide - we're behind you 110% :cheer2::cheer2:

Margie - There's something about cupcakes that just so cute :cutie: I just have a major sweet tooth and have a tough time with sugar so I try to stay away as much as I can. Okay here's what a typical day looks like for me:

Breakfast
1/3 cup minute oats with blueberries, walnuts, flax seed, oat bran and sugar free syrup

1st snack
Coffee (low fat milk, 1/2 pack of sweetner, pinch of cinnamon)
Piece of fruit
Snack size yogurt cup - 100 g (no fat with sweetner)

Lunch
Mixed greens salad with cherry tomatoes, cucumbers and any other veggies I can dig up
10 Baby carrots
1 Babybel low fat cheese wheel
1/2 can tuna - made with low fat mayo, green onions, spices (curry, paprika, black pepper)
Toasted 100 cal whole wheat thin hamburger bun (but sometimes I'll have a Weight Watchers WW bagel or english muffin)

2nd Snack
12 almonds or mixed nuts
Apple
(1/2 a Luna bar on training days)

Dinner
Mixed green salad with tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers etc.
Two Finn Crisp cracker pieces with 1oz cheese sliced
Steamed veggies or grilled tofu
Grilled chicken breast with spices

Dessert
Fruit - either mangoes, grapes or a peach
A really good dessert I made recently was 1/2 cup Greek yogurt, organic strawberries and honey drizzle (if not sweet enough). The strawberries should be really sweet since they're organic and has fibre. Greek yogurt has a ton of protein so it will help to keep you feeling full.

I also drink about 2L of water through out the day and at meals. And have a green tea sometimes after dinner. Phew! :cutie:

Connie - But all of the work is so worth it! Especially when the rest of us are eating supermarket fruit in the winter wondering why it doesn't as good as it does in the summer :thumbsup2 My dad goes hunting and usually brings back moose meat - it reminds me of goat meat but I've never had elk. I :rotfl::rotfl: at the bed and heels comment!!

es45 - pixiedust: for your mom! I hope she has a speedy recovery.

Mary - WTG on your 4 miler! I hope your chiro is able to fix your hips! See if there are some hip opening exercises they can recommend. That really helped with my hip pain :thumbsup2

Emily - Cool! I didn't know the meteor shower was a yearly event. Well, I put it into my Outlook for next year so I'll remember to make plans. :goodvibes Have fun at your potluck! Rice Krispie treats- yummy! Another one of my favourites!!

AFM - I did a 7K (4.3 mile) run this morning. The humidity was high but at least it was cloudy so I was able to skip the sunscreen :rolleyes1 (yeah I know about the UVA rays, I'm just lazy  ) and headed out. I passed my mom and sister who were out on their walk. They yelled at me to slow down and I yelled at them to speed up

Went out to lunch and then did a little bit of shopping with my mom and sister. We went to an outdoor mall but it was much too hot with the sun and humidity to walk outside so we went back home. I started cooking my dinners for the week to see if that would save me any time. I made a spaghetti sauce with extra lean ground beef, green peppers, onions, garlic, mushrooms and spices. I'll boil the pasta later on so I don't take up too much fridge space. I made pork skewers and some lamb sausages. And then the kitchen got too hot and I was tired. I figure that should last me until about Thursday or Friday. I also made some tuna fish for lunch and then heard on the radio that there was a salmonella warning for green onions. :headache: The warning was for a different supermarket but it still made me feel funny. I can't do anything about it now since everything's been prepared. I'll post if I get sick.

Have a great Sunday everyone! :wave2:

Hey Team!

Kim- Good luck with the diet!!! You’re doing WW now too right? Happy Anniversary!!! Yes you make perfect sense. Well, we all have bad training days from time to time, so just b/c you had a bad walk on Fri night, doesn’t mean you can’t do it. If you can do goofy, I’m sure you can do the full! I agree with Vicky- we’re behind you 110% whatever you decide!

Margie- I’m glad I’m not the only one struggling with motivation from time to time! Thanks! I’m not sure when I’ll know about the girls program? Hopefully sometime this week? Rest sounds good today!

Mike- I’m sorry to hear about your friend. Thanks for the encouragement! I’m sure you’re right- just gotta hang in there. There’s no way Kirstie could get a new chair? What kind of tri is Liz doing (which distances)?

Vicky- Thanks for the encouragement! Yeah, my foot pain comes and goes as well. If I remember correctly, it seems like when I do calf raises sometimes my foot hurts after, but I thought that was because of the way it was bending and moving during the exercise. Cupcakes sound delicious! What kind were they? I think preparing meals for the week sounds like a great idea for time saving. I hope it helps and that you don’t get sick from the green onions!

Emily- Thanks! I haven’t made rice krispie treats in forever. Those sound delicious too! How was the potluck? Great job on your 10 mi run!!!! I’m glad it went well for you and DH!

Connie- :rotfl: No thanks! I’m not sure I could make it as a country girl.

ES45- I’m glad you’re keeping up with your training.

Mary- Way to go on the 4 miles! I hope you’re able to get in to see the chiro quick!

AFM, DH and I made it out for our 10 mi run today. It was on the TM. I finished in 2:00:30. I stopped for 5 walk breaks to drink fluids and drank all my fluids in my fuel belt. I have 2 -8oz bottles, so I’m wondering if I should add another bottle, or see if the 10oz bottles would fit on my belt? My legs were really sore before I started my run from my workout yesterday, and they’re still sore after the 10 mi. Not too bad though, I guess. I was just happy to finish! I did seem to hurt a couple of my toes during the run- not sure how that happened since it's been awhile since I've bruised them or gotten a blister. Maybe just the longer distance, I guess. It does get easier….right??

Good Morning Team!

I am home after 2 long days of driving. I was on the road Saturday at 6:45 am, had a 1.5 hour break to visit my cousin in CA, and got to the hotel at 8:30pm. Started out Sunday at 6:30am, lost 1 hour enroute due to time change, and drove into my driveway at 5pm. My only stops were to put gas in the car and to use the restroom. I had a cooler full of food, and at my gas stop would throw together a sandwich that I ate while driving. I went thru a total of 4 books, 3 were 8 disc books and 1 was an 11 disc book. The books really helped pass the time. (Today I have to return all those books to the library). No exercise while on trip (other that hauling boxes, and lots of stairs), now I will have to re-acclimatize myself to the high altitude. It is cool and very foggy, waiting for fog to lift before walking the dogs, I don't want to get run over by a car I cannot even see:lmao:.

Vicky – 5” heals in a fitness competition – that does not go together!

Sue – I recently read the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, and I agree that although I enjoyed the book, it took we a long time to get into it, and I did not think it was fantastic – I have not yet run out to buy the sequels, I may read them, but I did not think it was as great as I was lead to believe it would be.

Margie – for awhile I was really into Sandra Brown, then just got bored with them. My favorite that I read was “Envy” – at least I think that was the title, it was several years ago.

Happy Belated Anniversary Kim and Mike!!!

Did not realize the meteor shower was going on, we used to watch it all the time in Jackson, it was always well publicized there, but not so much here in Cheyenne.

Mike – Sorry to hear about your friend. Sounds like you have been doing a great job on training. Good luck to Liz on her tri!

Regina – good luck on the volunteer program.

Emily – Rice krispy treats – one of my favorites! Good choice.

Connie – I am seeing a lot of wine in that list!

Kim – Personally, I think anyone who does the Goofy is, well, Goofy! I prefer the halfs, I did 1 marathon, and that was enough for me. The first 15 miles were fun, but after that – not so much fun, so I decided to stick to the 13 miles and try to keep it fun – BUT you will have to decide for yourself!

Pixie dust to all who are in need!

Have a great day all!

Happy Monday everyone!

Vicky: your meal schedule made me jealous. I start out with the best intentions but by dinner, I'm raiding the pantry for junk food.;)

Connie: You picked 4-5 gallon buckets this weekend from your garden?? I picked 4-5 pieces from my patio garden. There is no way I'm saving money by growing my own. I know I must have put at least 3x as much $ in as what I'm getting out of it. Except for the basil from my herb garden. Good grief, I can't even kill it. No matter what I do, it just multiplies....

Hi team! I noticed the percentages for the January races are starting to increase. The full is 65%, half is 77%, Goofy is 70% and the 5K is 50%. I'm still waiting for it to fill up just a *little* more :) I'm not panicking yet.

Margie - pixiedust: for your cold! Hope you're feeling better soon! Make sure you're getting enough rest! You're always up and about. Please wish Sara a happy belated birthday! Yup, I'm in taper... low mileage planned for today, tomorrow and Thursday, nothing above 6K. How are you feeling after your massage?

Hope - I'm not a fan of wet shoes and socks either - especially during a winter run. But I do love going out and running in the rain :)

Regina - WTG on your 10 miler! I think the long runs eventually get easier but it takes time. Each time I train for a race, I find certain distances easier to run. The cupcakes were chocolate, red velvet (my favourite), maple and banana chocolate.

Elizabeth - Yup, the sugar is hard for me to resist most days too. I try to go out for treats and that way I don't keep anything sugary in the house :)

Dave - I hope things go well for Sally today pixiedust:

Lynn - Glad you're back safely! That's a long of driving for one person!

AFM - I'm going out running this evening when I get back home. Just trying to get accustomed to the humidity of the afternoon/evening but I probably should have thought of that a couple of weeks ago

Went for my training session yesterday and did a lot of compound body weight exercises. I asked to go lighter on the legs so I could keep them fresh for Saturday! Got a nice compliment from my dentist who also trains there too. She said I was looking a lot more muscular and toned lately. I said she made my day! I've known her for a long long time - she use to live on my street and I use to babysit her kids when I was younger. Haha!

Have a great day everyone! :wave2:

Good Morning Team!

Dave – sending pixiedust:for Sally’s surgery today!

I have been successful with grape tomatoes in patio pots, did not plant this year because we were gone all of June, but do enjoy the fresh tomatoes. I have not been as successful with herbs, have tried basil and cilantro with only moderate success.

Margie – Happy Birthday to your DD!

Vicky – I, too, try to keep the junk food out of the house, if it is here then I will eat it!

The dogs and I got out this morning for 2 miles, yesterday we did 1.26 miles. It is always hard for me to get back into high altitude conditioning, but I should be good by the end of the week. My long walk for this week is only 8 miles, so by Friday I should be able to accomplish that. Plan on a bike ride later today, either outside or in the basement.

Have a great day all!

Good morning Team,

Sending best of Luck to Kirstie.

Margie - Hope your cold gets better soon!

Sally - Best Wishes

Dave - Keep us posted.

Elizabeth - Glad to have you back! I have never been in a non-timed race. Sounds like it would be good fun, though. There is one in Colorado that I would like to do. It is downhill, in the Rockies, and they have beer and wine at the finish! LOL

Vicky - Congrats on the toned body. You wearing 5" heels, now?

Hope - Good thing you didn't get wet, then! :)

Lynn - Big surprise, lots of wine. I don't drink, I don't eat jelly, seldom eat pickles or relish. Why am I doing all this????

Kim - Choose the race that is the most fun for you!

AFM - Still being the ant. Trying to keep up DH and his demands and take care of all this produce. Take care Everyone!

See ya - Connie

Lynn G

Good Morning Team!

Connie – OK, why are you doing all that (when you do not drink the wine, eat the jelly or pickles)?

Margie – Cruises – New Years Eve cruise is Dec 29-Jan 2, the Dream Inaugural cruise is Jan 26 to 30. We will be spending a few days at WDW both before and after the Dream cruise, and a few days at WDW after the New Years Eve cruise. The Repo and Alaskan are back to back cruises, I think the end date for the repo and start date for the Alaskan is the 4th. Why am I the only one on the “cruise” list?

Happy Wednesday, everyone! I hope all of you with injuries and who are unwell are all feeling better today and on the road to recovery.

Question: How many of you sign up for non-timed/fun runs? We have several in my area and I think they might be good first races for me to try.

We do several fun runs locally, it is a great way to break into racing! You get a good idea of what a group run is all about. Go for it!

The dogs and I made it 3 miles this morning – much better walk than yesterday. I then rode the bike around the block (1.25 miles) to pick up the paper at the mailbox. Yesterday, I got in 45 min on the bike downstairs, then 2 laps around the block on the bike with Scott when he got home.

Dave – hope Sally’s surgery went OK yesterday. Check in with us OK?

Just a quick note. Got a call from the doctor's office that does ART. When I first tried to get an appointment last week, the earliest they could give me was Sept. 8. Hi Team,

Just a quick post today to let you know that I'm still around. It's been a very busy week at work, lots of hours and eleven days in a row again.

I ran six miles on Monday with an average pace of 9:43, I did the last mile in 8:20 which is smokin' for me!

I did another eight on Tuesday and set a new PR for that distance with a time of 1:18:11 with a pace of 9:46! Also, really good for me. At the end of the run, exactly where I stopped, I found a dime on the ground. Liz said I stopped on a dime. :rotfl: I guess I have a mystery sponsor.

Margie~ Yes, that's what Kirstie told me in June. I hoped that her fortune would change and she would be back up and at it. Does anyone have her email to see how she is?

I apologize as I have not had time to read everyone's posts. I will catch up this weekend!

I'm finally back with a day off. I spent the last 4 days working in the other strore in paducah ky. I'm whipped already and it's only 3:30. I got off at nine pm last night and drove 150 miles home. Then got up for a 5 mile race walk at 7 this morning. All my errands were done in the pouring rain, doing the laundry in the rain was just peachy.

Sally is doing well and is staying 2 more days in the hospital. she is sore but doesn't need narcotics today. Next week we start nest hunting.

I went to the bank and got a preapproval for our home loan. Good credit is worth the effort.

Dave- Glad to hear that Sally is improving, she should just relax for awhile.

I have now been researching for wedding photographers, so many to choose from and kinda overwhelmed since I really want incredible photos that reflect us. Weddings are crazy. But, Nick's family's guardian angel got some magic happening with my dad, he'll be getting out of jail on August 30th!

Hello Team!

Connie - I remember when my mom used to can peaches and applesauce. I used to help pick the apples and mash them up for the applesauce. That was a lot of work and nowhere near what you're doing. WTG on the weight loss!

Lynn - All of your cruises sound fun! DH and I went on an Alaskan cruise last year. It was one of the best vacations I've ever had. We took a helicopter ride up to a glacier and got to walk around it. If you're spending any time in Anchorage, I'd recommend a visit to the Alaskan Wildlife Conservation Center. It's actually outside of Anchorage so you'd need a rental car to get there. But it was a great way to see some wildlife.

Margie - Hope you feel better soon!

Regina - WTG on your 10 miler!

Mike - WTG on your runs!

AFM - The potluck on Sunday was a lot of fun. My rice krispie treats went over well. I didn't have to bring too many home with me, which was a good thing. DH and I did 3 miles last night. It's been really hot the past few days, over 95 deg. It's supposed to cool down over the next several days.

Have a good night!

Hey Team!

Lynn- Welcome back! Glad you made it home safely! What books did you listen to? I think hauling boxes and lots of stairs sounds like a pretty good work out.:thumbsup2 How long have you guys been going on cruises? For a first timer, what do you think would be a good distance to go? Do you get sea sick? You can use DVC points for cruises? Or am I just confused?

Hope- Way to go on the 2 miles! Yay for making it home before the storm! :woohoo: Good timing. 8/30 is just around the corner.

Margie- Thanks! Although, it wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. I think I must be getting used to the DM or something…either that or I’m getting better at imagining I’m somewhere else while on it…:rolleyes1 A deep tissue massage sounds nice! I carry all my stress in my shoulders, neck and upper back as well and it usually helps me as well. :wizard: for your head cold. (I looked for the PD icon but couldn't find it? I must be tired or something) Feel better soon! Did you have the cold before or after your massage?

Vicky- Just be careful you don’t miss the cut off. I read quite a few people waited too long to sign up for Wine and Dine and it booked full on them and they couldn’t register. Good to know I have easier runs to look forward to. Oooh the maple and banana chocolate sounds really good- never had one of those before. Good luck in your race this weekend!! I’m sure you’ll do great!!! :cheer2::cheer2:

Elizabeth- I haven’t run in a non timed race either, but I think it sounds like fun.

Connie- Good luck keeping up with all the vegetable/fruit duties! I would like to know also, why do you do all the work if you don’t drink the wine, eat the jelly or pickles?? Congrats on the 20 lbs!!!

Mary- Yay for the Dr. appt tomorrow! I hope it goes ok and helps!

Mike- You are AWESOME!!!!:worship: Keep up the great work!! It’s motivating for the rest of us!

Dave- Tell Sally we’re glad she’s doing ok and that her surgery went well. Good luck with the house hunting next week!

Emily- Thanks! I’m glad the potluck went well and everyone liked your rice krispie treats.

AFM, I went to the gym today to run 5 miles in between finishing up some last minute work stuff and what did I find when I got there….all the TMs were taken!!! What gives? :confused3 So I left and went back to work instead. DH and I are going camping at 6am tomorrow morning so I’ve been scrambling around like a mad woman the last couple days trying to make sure all my necessary work stuff is done so I don’t have to worry about it while I’m gone the next couple days. It’s of course still not where I would like to be, but good enough I guess. I’m hoping we can go on a couple hikes while we’re camping and I can call that “cross training” or something since I wasn’t able to get my 5 miles in. :upsidedow It’ll be Sydney’s first trip camping so we’re curious to see how she likes it. DH has already given her a tick and flea treatment so hopefully she doesn’t come back with anything!

Has anyone used photopass before on their trips? What are your thoughts on it?

Talk to everyone on Saturday or Sunday!

Good morning, Hakuna Matata!

What a great morning! I hope everyone is up and doing well and finding something wonderful to learn, be or do today! :cheer2:

Speaking of Reading - I have the "Girl with the Dragon Tatoo", I was taking it to Colorado camping/elk hunting. I guess when I have few other distractions, it will be edible or appetizing or at least time consuming! I just discovered Sandra Brown, I like her. I am also trying an Janet Evanovitch for the first time since her Harlequin days. When I was in college I read lots of Harlequins because they were a quick read (just a few hours) and my mother sent them to me by the box full!

Lynn and Regina - Nope! Don't eat much of this stuff. Jon likes giving it away and claiming that "we" made it. He loves to eat and drink the stuff, but I don't do sugar. I am insulin resistant and seek to eat low carb. By low carb I mean that I don't eat: Sugar, processed flour, pasta, white rice and potatoes. I slip up on the potatoes, but the amount is greatly decreased! But jelly and wine have tons of sugar......

Lynn- You guys sound busy as usual. Glad you had a safe trip and welcome home!!!

Margie - I hope your cold is better. I am still wondering if you have adult whooping cough. You can add me to the cruise list if you want. We will be cruising the Carribean in January 2012. --Hmmm, from an beautiful dog to a lowly ant. I guess I wil just be the dog.

Hope - Good luck with the photographer. With digital cameras and the ability to fix them, though, photograpers aren't as important as they once were. I took better photographs of my DD's wedding than did the pro who was there!

Regina- You will love photo pass. If you register BEFORE you go, you can see your photos at home. Instead of looking at them that day! You can buy frames and stuff on line too! Plus, you can recieve your photos digitally!

AFM - Working on apples and pear preserves today. DH says that my jelly dsn't jell well, so maybe I won't have to do this stuff again! :rotfl:

THanks everyone of for the good thoughts on my weight loss. It has been a real struggle. Maybe, by the time we go on the above mentioned cruise, I will be at a weight I want!

See ya - Connie

Hi team! I went out with the 5K group again last night - different instructor and different people go figure! It was fun though :) I'm going for a quick training session tonight.

Connie - Congrats on your weight loss!!! Woo-hoo! I was going to ask about the PX90 but all the work you've been doing lately - picking fruit and fixing up your place probably played a huge role. WTG girl! And no on the 5" heels. I could stand in them but walking would be a disaster!

Regina - Hope you and Kyle have a blast camping this weekend! Photopass is great - if you're able to pre-pay and register for it ahead of time like Connie mentioned it's a great deal. You can add borders and characters to your photos. I use to get Photopass as part of a group share, but I don't think they're allowed anymore. You can also ask the Photopass photographer to take a picture of you using your own camera as well. Oh and speaking of race registration, I'd better go and check on the percentages

Emily - WTG on the 3 miler! I can't believe I'm going to say it but I'm looking forward to cooler weather too!

Hope - That's fantastic news about your dad! I have some friends who are wedding photographers. I can ask them what you should be looking for when looking for a package.

Dave - That's great news about Sally! I'm going to look at a few properties myself next week! We'll have to compare notes :)

Mike - Still working hard I see! I don't have Kirstie's email :( I was telling Margie that I was in Hallmark the other day and they had Disney mugs and one of them said Hakuna Matada and I thought of our team! I wish I could get one for everyone here! That would be cool!

Mary - Glad to hear you got in for an ART appointment. Doesn't it make such a huge difference? I've had it done on my knees, ankles and shins. It's fantastic! I hope you're feeling better today.

Margie - *lol* If that meant I could get my training and treatments for free, I'd do it :) How's your cold today! I hope it's going far far away! Make sure you're taking things easy young lady!

Lynn - I wish I were on the cruise list! Maybe one day - I've always wanted to do an Alaskan cruise because I love seeing wildlife. WTG on your 3 miler!

Elizabeth - I've never done a non-timed run before mostly because everything here is timed. But I agree with Lynn and think it would be a good way for you to get a feel for racing. Also if you feel up to it, try a timed 10K race before the Princess 1/2 in February. You can use the results to help get you a better corral placement.

Have a great day everyone! :wave2:

Good Morning Team!

Margie – pixiedust:for your cold!

Mike – good job on the training runs!

Dave – great to hear that you are pre approved for a loan! Good luck house hunting. pixiedust:to Sally for quick recovery.

Connie – congrats on the weight loss!

Emily – I haven’t even started researching Alaska yet – but Scott has spent some time there. I do not know off the top of my head even where we are stopping. OK, looked it up, the ports of call are Tracy Arm, Skagway, Juneau and Ketchikan, home port will be Vancouver for the Alaskan Cruises.

Regina – we have been going on cruises since the building of the Disney Magic – so 12 years (I think). I have never gotten sea sick, cruise ships are really big, and most of the time you do not even know you are moving. If you are really not sure about cruising, try one of the 3 or 4 day Bahama cruises first. We prefer the longer ones. Yes, all our cruising is done on DVC points – some folks say it is not the best use of points – but if you have enough, then use them!

Have fun on your camping trip. My dogs love camping (maybe because they have our undivided attention the whole time). The only time we used photopass was on our Adventures By Disney trip to Peru – we bought the pictures the guides took of the trip to add to our own.

Vicky – good luck on your race!

Mike – good luck to Liz on her race!

Scott’s knee is still a little swollen, I massage it every night for him, PT is going well. He is headed out of town today, do not know when he will get back here.

AFM – Dogs and I walked around the block this morning – tomorrow is my long walk – well, since it is taper mode, that long walk will be only 6-8 miles, later I will get downstairs on the bike again (as it is raining, and supposed to be raining off and on all day). My project today is refinishing a cedar chest I brought back from California. I started sanding yesterday, and I think it will look good – I was not sure how thick the veneer was, and if I would end up sanding it all off, but the top looks goods so far, so now I get to sand off the sides – then stain it.

Good morning guys.

I'm finally coming back to life a bit. These long week are taking a toll on me but it's only till the end of the year and then I can get back to normal but with a good start for Sally and I. I'll be glad when I start getting my reimbersement checks for my mileage and food. Corp is real slow in reimbersement but if I owed them it would come out of my very next paycheck.

I have been getting in some good training walks, slow but making progress. I did a 13 min pace yesterday comfortably, I have a month till the USAF Half and then two weeks after that the State Games. Lots of goals this year to meet.

Sally was released from the hospital yesterday and is going to be resting for a week or so at her sisters house.

Hi everyone! Happy Friday! Not much of import to report - just relaxing and prepping for the race tomorrow evening. Did some training last night - mostly core and upper body exercises with weights. My Thursday trainer says that she'll start me back on deadlifts in about 2 weeks - she wants to give me a break next week after the race.

Dave - That's a gorgeous house! I love the fireplace and kitchen! And looking at the price... well, I think I need to move out of the city. I'll bet I could get a mansion with the prices we're paying in Toronto  Give our love to Sally!

Lynn - Make sure you take some before and after pics of the chest! Can't wait to see what it looks like when you're done. Good luck with you long walk today!

Kim - Glad to see you and Mike are doing the half in January! Definitely will be looking out for the both of you on the full course!

Margie - How's the cold doing? Make sure you're getting enough rest!

Good Morning Team!

Dave - Sounds like you are making good progress! pixiedust: for Sally!

Vicky - good luck on the race!

AFM - the dogs and I made it only 6 miles today - new pain, this time in my foot - on the inside from the big toe joint up to the arch. I will be putting ice on it shortly and see if that helps. This is the foot that I always keep the shoe tied loosely, because the top of my arch often hurts if the shoe is too tight, so I do not think it is a "shoe tied too tight" problem.

Margie that is only one of the many houses in that price range here. We are going to choose carefully. We want at least a half acre, pleasent area, nice yard and deck for relaxing and entertaining, fireplace, and a host of other desires. I thought that was a good example of what is available here and how our tastes run.

Once we have our new nest, then WISH and DR friends will have a place to stop and have a steak and a bed if they are passing through. Hint Hint Kimmer and Margie and the rest of you. We are half way if your driving from Canada to WDW. We are close, 5 hours from Gatlinburg Tenn if anyone wants to meet there for a mini vacation in a beautiful but enexpensive place.

Ok enough rambling, time to get my pudgy butt out and train.

Hi team! Got back from my 30K and just sitting down for some dinner! Finished the race in 3:06 according to my watch. I think the clock time would have been 3:07:05 or something like that. Dave - sounds like you are doing well, let Sally know we are thinking about her!

AFM - we spent the whole weekend cleaning out our barn - no we are not farmers, our barn is for all our toys, projects, Scott's woodworking projects - etc. We started right after a quick trip to the Farmer's Market on Sat., quit at 7:30 Sat night, had dinner and went to bed, started out Sun after a quick trip to Lowes for some wall hangers and finished at 6:30 Sun evening! No walks or bike rides. The work did not bother my foot, but my knee was not very happy. Scott is sore also. But the barn is now clean!!!! The dogs and I did get for a 3 miler this morning, weather was nice - about 60 degrees and a 25mph wind (just to keep things cool). Foot did not hurt this morning, and yes, the ice did help on Friday. Knee not bad after first 1/2 mile. But at my current speed, I will never beat the sweepers!

Happy Monday team! Here's my race report for the 30K on Saturday. It's a bit long so don't feel you have to read the whole thing.

The nice thing about running in the evening is being able to sleep in the morning of a race. :thumbsup2 It's a double bonus for me because I'm definitely not a morning person. I woke up, strolled leisurely downstairs and started made myself breakfast. I wasn't too sure what to eat not having ever done a long distance race at night so I figured I'd stick to clean(ish) eating. Finished up and ran some errands with my dad who then took me for a coffee and donut. I think he was really looking for an excuse to have a donut but I figured the carbs and sugar would come in handy! So much for the clean eating - that was quick, huh :cutie: I got back home and ate lunch. At this point it started raining, it wasn't a heavy downpour but on a normal day, I wouldn't have gone out. It made me a little nervous so with all the extra energy I did some laundry, did my nails and took a nap. See isn't an evening start great  I woke up feeling fairly refreshed and started getting ready to go. I got on my racing gear, took my blinky light, Fuel Belt and WISH hat of course! I brought my ex as my pit crew - I know ... but I'm going with the "Don’t try anything new on race day" saying :rolleyes1 Anyhoo… Luckily the rain tapered off by the time we parked and we didn't have to take an umbrella. The humidity levels were still high but at least the sun wasn't going to come out and the temperatures were fairly cool.

I was a little worried coming into the race that I hadn't prepared myself well enough for the distance. I miscalculated the training plan dates so I had already put myself off by a week and then I had missed both of the 25K long runs either because of the heat or stomach cramping issues. Then I had missed several weekday runs because of a cold in July and my longest run was 21K. :headache: But 30 minutes before the start was not the time to worry about my training. There were two races being run - a 15K and a 30K. The 30K had the earlier start of 5:30PM while the 15K started at 6:45PM. The course followed a few industrial roads along Toronto's waterfront and went into three different water front/park sections. Walking around the start area, I saw a few runners who were dressed up. The theme for the race was a Midsummer Night's Run so there was all kinds of costumes. I saw one runner dressed as a court jester but most people were dressed as fairies (even the guys). Me, I just stuck with the standard running outfit - shorts, hat and a shirt. Being one of the slower runners, unless they were actual working wings that were going let me fly, I didn't need something creating wind resistance.

The 30K started promptly at 5:30 PM and just like that, we were off! I saw a 3:00 pace fairy and I put myself just a little behind him in the corral but promptly I lost sight of him as soon as I crossed the start. Oh well. I didn't figure on running a 3:00 hour race anyway. I didn't have a particular time goal in mind but anything faster than the 3:36:02 I ran back in March would be fine. A lot of the course were out and backs on the streets and in a field of 650 runners, I was well in the back. It's a little discouraging (for me anyway) to make my way around a turn only to see that there's no one behind. But I kept telling myself that most of the people doing the 30K were probably marathon runners using it as a tuneup for a fall marathon and so there was no way I was going to be able to compete. I did catch sight of the 3:00 pacer on several of the turns and around the 15K mark - I saw him coming out of the lighthouse roundabout. I calculated I was about 4-5 minutes behind him and felt pretty good about that.

By this time, the 15K runners had caught up to us. I tried to keep as close to the right side of the course as I could to let the elite runners go by. I spotted Rick Ball out on the course. I think he holds a world marathon record for single leg amputees. He was entering the lighthouse area as I was leaving and he caught up and zoomed by about 3K later. It was pretty cool watching the elite runners go by - they have such perfect running form and make running fast look so effortless! It seems like they're hardly breaking a sweat running as fast as they do while I'm pushing hard to go 9:30 m/m.

As I was closing in on the 21K mark, an older gentleman wearing bumble bee wings caught up to me and started pacing me and then drafting behind me when it got windier. For some reason, I found that really annoying. Never mind that I'm the one usually doing that during a race … :rolleyes1 :upsidedow Anyway, I made a mental note that I can't let an old guy dressed in a tutu and bumble bee wings beat me. So picked up my pace and managed to shake him. I never saw him again the whole race. Going back through the pre-race pictures I had snapped, I realized I took a picture of him  Anyway, I passed the 21K mat at 2:10 and was still feeling really strong at this point. I headed out of the park and kept reminding myself that I only had 5.5 miles left. Surprisingly, my ex was waiting for me at the 23K mark with a Rice Krispie treat - just in case. I thought that was really nice and unexpected but I was still feeling great so I said to save it and kept going. He said he was surprised that I looked as good as I did - no red face, big smile and running fast!

I did lose some of my steam going into the next park. I think part of it had to do with not knowing the course here or where the turnaround point would be for the run back. I spotted the 3:00 pacer again as he crossed the 25K point. He seemed to be running by himself (as I was) so I'm not sure what happened to his group. I have to say that running "by myself" here was hard. There was no one for me to pace with and because there was a sizeable gap in front of me, I kept hitting large swarms of white flies - yuck! It was also getting dark by this time and I couldn't see very well. I continued to push and to get back onto the main road. It had gotten dark by the time I reached the 28K mark - and I was surprised to still see my ex still waiting still waiting there with my Rice Krispie treat! I was still feeling good so I said I'd eat it at the finish! He said the 3:00 pacer had just passed by about 5 minutes or so ahead of me.

I rejoined the 15K runners and walkers just before the 29K mark. I had to do a bit of dodging here as we merged. People were kind of all over the place but I'm sure its because everyone 15K and 30K alike were tired and just trying to finish. I did keep up with another 30K runner who was a bit faster but he kept stopping every minute or two for walking breaks. I'm not sure why he did that so I just kept focusing on the traffic lights ahead or another racer in the distance and kept telling myself I just had to pass them and it wasn't too much farther. I crossed the finish line at 3:07:04 (or 3:05:56 chip). I tried sprint at the end to get the clock time in under 3:07 but couldn't do it.

Sooo... the 3:05:56 puts me in at a 30 minute improvement over the 30K in March. I did 10/1 run/walk intervals and the time includes a washroom break and walking through all the water stops. :cheer2: I never thought I would have run that "fast" but I felt really strong and kept pushing myself throughout the race to stay ahead of or to pass certain runners. I told myself to think of it as a 1/2 marathon with a 5.5 mile warmup run! I thought the best case scenario would have been a 3:15 finish but more likely between 3:20-3:25 so I was ecstatic with my time!! If I had known it was going to be such a strong race, I would have started out with the 3:00 pacer and pushed to stay with him. But I guess there's always that goal for my next 30K!

My ex had my Rice Krispie square and a chocolate milk waiting for me at the end. I can't tell you how much both of those hit the spot! The race organizers had boxes of bananas and bagels out but I love that quick boost of energy you get from having something sugary! Physically, I felt pretty good afterward - no worse than having done a 1/2 which was awesome! I thought back to 2008 and my first 1/2 where I could barely walk afterward. Sunday, I was walking up and down stairs (before massage) with no problems. Today, my legs just feel a little tired and my hamstrings a little tight but nothing terrible. I posted a few pictures on my Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=19272&id=100000743108717&ref=mf) including one of the huge honking medal we got at the end. This thing was the size of my palm and heavy too! Anyway, my finish has me feeling pretty good about my 1/2 at the end of September (knock on wood). I'm definitely going to push then and try for a 2:07 or better (my previous 1/2 PB was 2:11:44 in January).

Happy Monday!

Congrats on the race, Vicky!

Wishing everyone else a good week and :flower3: for those of you unwell/injured.

I've decided to try the Galloway method after Higdon training for the past few months. So far, I'm happy with the switch but I guess it is too early to tell.

Hey Hakuna Matata!

Connie- Well I’m sure everyone who is lucky enough to get some of your freebies is very appreciative! I would love to try some of your jelly! Sounds delicious! :goodvibes Thanks for the feedback on photo pass. I think you can definitely be at the weight you want by the time you go on the cruise.

Vicky- Glad things are going well with the 5K group. Thanks for the feedback on photo pass. Congrats on the awesome race!!! :cheer2: You seriously rocked it! Great job!!! I’m glad you felt good after. Loved the race report.

Margie- Would you believe we did not encounter one mosquito while we were there?!?! I was shocked! It worked out well though because we forgot our “clips” to keep the bugs away and had to stop for bug spray on the way there. I hate the feeling of bug spray all over me so I was very happy about it. I asked about the massages because it seems like I’ve heard the massage is getting rid of toxins and tension in the body so when you are finally getting rid of some of the stress, I think it lowers your immune system making you more susceptible to colds and things? At least I’m pretty sure that’s what I’ve heard…unless I’m going crazy. They also say to drink lots of fluids after your massage! I hope you feel better soon! The flu and cold season is coming up pretty fast anyway.

Dave- Let us know how the house hunting goes!! That’s great your training walks are going well!

Lynn- Thanks for the info on the cruises. DH and I have been seriously considering taking one, but I worry I would get sea sick. Sydney loved our camping trip! I’ve never ever seen her so dirty or her face caked so full of dirt! How’s your refinishing project going?

Kim- Great job on the 6 miles! I hope your heel is feeling better today.

Elizabeth- What made you decide to switch from Higdon to Galloway?

AFM, we had a good time camping. Posted some pics on FB. As for the running, today is a rest day. Yesterday was my 11 mile run and it was a rough run. Decided to try out a walk break every mile and see how that went. Things went pretty good the first 4-5 miles. Then I needed to use the restroom, but wasn’t at the gym and didn’t have a restroom to use….so I had to slow to a walk until could get to the in laws’ house and use their restroom. After that I felt good and did ok for the next 2-3 miles. The last 3 miles or so were really rough though. I felt good but my stupid knee was hurting and tensing up so I ended up walking the majority of the last 3 miles. I was afraid I would injure it and I definitely didn’t want to do that. I think some of it was because we finally ran on the road and so my feet were not always evenly hitting the ground because the ground wasn’t even. The important thing though is that I finished and am still under 16min miles so I don’t get swept in October. Only 2 more long runs left before we taper…I hope they go better than this one! In other news, I have training this Saturday for the volunteer program. I’m still waiting to hear the details on where I’ll be placed and what they’ll have me do, but I’m looking forward to it! I think I also mentioned a few months ago that I’m trying to organize a 5k run/walk event for my work in November. It’s slowly coming along, but it’s seriously stressing me out! I’ll be sooooo happy when it’s over!

Hello team!

Lynn - We stopped at Skagway, Juneau, and Ketchikan. We also cruised Glacier bay and College fjords. Seeing the glaciers from the ship was really cool, we saw one glacier calving. We didn't do an excursion in Skagway, we just walked around town. We had planned to go hiking there but it was very cold, windy, and rainy that day. Skagway was my least favorite port, I didn't think there was much to do there. In Juneau we went on the helicopter ride, visited Juneau-Douglas City museum, and walked arond town. We wanted to go whale watching here but didn't have time. We also stopped at a store that sold soaps made from glacial silt. In Ketchikan, we went sea kayaking. My arms were so sore afterwards but it was a lot of fun. Since we went on one of the last cruises of the season, it was only the guide, DH and I on the trip. We also saw the totem pole museum and, because it was Sept, the salmon were spawning and there were tons of them in the river. The candy store, Ketchicandies, has yummy chocolate. I'm sure you'll have lots of fun!

Regina - DH has issues with motion sickness. We've been on 2 cruises and he only felt sick one time. I think he took Bonine on our Alaskan cruise.

Dave - That house looks beautiful!

Vicky - WTG on your race!

AFM - DH and I had a fairly busy weekend. On Saturday, we went to the Redbull Flugtag. Teams build "flying" machines and push them off of a ramp to make them "fly". Most just drop straight into the water. It was neat to see, we only watched half since it was very hot out. Since we were close to Anaheim, we drove by our hotel for the half and stopped at downtown disney. On Sunday, we did 8 miles. It went ok, it was hot again and we were tired from the previous day. We are in taper mode now. We also stopped by a few open houses. We saw one interesting place, we're going to see it again with our realtor later this week. It's very hot here (over 100) and the high temps are going to continue this week. We're going to run after dinner tonight in hopes that it will cool down some.

pixiedust: to those who need it!

Have a good night!
Emily

Hey Hakuna Matata!

Elizabeth- What made you decide to switch from Higdon to Galloway?

Primarily the switch was because as I build distance, I have less time during the week for Higdon. With Galloway, I have my longer runs only on the weekends. Also, now that I'm really focusing on the run/walk ratio prescribed by Galloway, I feel like I have more energy at the end of run. Sure hope that energy lasts!

WTG Vicky that is awesome!!!!!!! We thought you where getting poured on, glad it was dry for you:hug:

Margie: Take care, I know there are quite a few breathing type bugs going around here right now, DMIL is in the hospital right now with phenionia.

Lynn: Wow that is some serious crosstraining:thumbsup2

Regina: Glad you had a great time. I get car sick if I try to read or sit in the back seat and I love cruising. I have only gotten sea sick once and that was the first night of my very first cruise but we had hit the northern end of tropical storm Gamma on Disney Magic, that was in 2005 when there was tons of storms, we hit gale force winds, but by dinner the next day seas where calm and I have been addicted ever since.

Not much going on with me, keeping up with my exercises and food is still a work in progress, I won't be where I thought I would be by Sept, not even 1/2 way but I will by January.

Kimmer that bought with PF set me back a long way also. I'll be doing the half in Sept but it will not be a fast one. I have the state games two weeks after and that's much more important to me. I have to win at state to go to the nationals next year in Houston.

Vicky you are doing great, I think next year will be amazing for you, that's your Panda prediction and Panda is never wrong. So it is written so it shall be.

Our nest hunt begins tomorrow at 11am, Sally and I are excited. The house I posted is a contender but there are several more very nice ones.

I'm headed home tonight after i work 12 hrs today, i hate that 2 hr drive after but good to sleep in my own bed. Then after 5 hrs sleep I'll be up to meet my race walkers and do a 6 mile training walk. Just enough time to clean up and meet Sally and the real estate agent.

Have a great week guys.

Hi everyone!

Margie - How's your cold? Are you feeling better? The girl at work who sits beside me was telling me about Oil of Oregano. It's an antioxidant and has antibacterial properties too. She was telling me that if you take it when you're feeling sick, it's suppose to help with your recovery. It smells like salad dressing :) You take a couple of drops in your orange juice or water and you should start feeling better in a few hours. I think you can find it in the vitamin section of the drugstore or in any health food store. Hope you're feeling better soon!! pixiedust:

Dave - Thanks for that! What a crazy year! I'm looking forward to a fresh start! Safe travels tonight! That's a long drive after a long shift... Good luck house hunting tomorrow! Post some more links to the houses if you can :)

Kim - I saw the rain in the afternoon and just hoped it would go away or stop by the time the race started. It was dry until I finished and then it started up again! I was looking for you and Mike out on course but figured that the rain kept you out of the city. Take your measurements so that you'll see the progress that your body is making between now and January! Hope DMIL is feeling better soon pixiedust:

Emily - WTG on your 8 miler! You're doing the DL 1/2 right? Are you out in California? 100F sounds too hot - it's only in the last week or so that it's started to cool down where we are. The humidity is still high but the temps have come down. I've seen those flying machine competitions on TV - they look like a lot of fun! Were you and DH competing or just watching?

Regina - That's great news on the volunteer program! Keep us posted and let us know how it goes :) Good job on the 11 miler! I find the first time you try any LR distance, it's always tough. By the time you start training for the Princess, 11 miles will feel like a piece of cake! Ice your knee even if you feel like it doesn't need it, it does help. I also use the tensor braces for my ankles and knees too (not when I'm running). It just helps your body to keep your joints aligned if that makes sense. Will check out your FB pics when I'm done posting!

Elizabeth - I've used the Higdon intermediate plans to train for most of my races (except the 30K). He does keep the mileage pretty high. I was told for my full to switch to his beginner's plan because of the high mileage. I still can't run more than 8 miles continuous (and I haven't done that in a while either). I'm a big fan of the run/walk intervals!

Mike - How was Liz's tri? Can't wait to hear about it :)

Lynn/Scott - You guys have a huge barn!! Good job on organizing it! That looks like a huge undertaking. When do you leave for DL?

Sue - Still at the cottage? I haven't found any deals yet for A/C or WJ. Looks like they're only discounting bookings into mid-December right now. I'll keep you posted if I find anything.

Eva - How's training going for W&D? I still haven't seen a posting for the next WISH shirt order. I hope we haven't missed it.

AFM - Thanks for all the congrats on my race! I'm still feeling pretty good about it :goodvibes

Went to the gym for my training sessiion last night. More core work and some band exercises as well. I tried some one legged push ups which actually weren't as hard as they looked. My PT also threw in some ladder exercises to try and give me more power when I run. Of course with me, it's more about coordination and balance - I have neither :) We also did some exercises to try and strengthen my glutes so my hamstrings wouldn't be as tight.

I'm going to try and get out with the running group tomorrow and do some light mileage. The half marathon group is going out for hills which I want to do but am not sure how I'll do on them after the weekend race.

I've got some open houses appointments planned for the weekend too but they keep changing. A lot of properties that I picked out keep getting sold. Haha! Isn't it suppose to be a buyer's market? But I'm being patient and there seems to be a lot of stuff out there.

Have a great day everyone! :wave2:

Good Morning Team!

Vicky – great race report! And Congrats again! We leave for DL half on the 2nd.

Regina – the refinishing project is on hold for a bit – ran out of sandpaper, got more sandpaper, but we spent the weekend cleaning out the barn, now I have to get house clean for office party Scott is hosting on Thursday. Maybe Friday I can get back to it. Sounds like you are really busy with stuff – good luck with your 5K walk/run project at work!

Emily – I will have to do some research on the Alaskan cruise ports – but that cruise seems so far away! Are you saying the temps in Anaheim are in the 100’s???? We will be there shortly for the DL half – will you be there then?

Kim – Somehow it seems that crosstraining in the way of chores does not translate into better walking:confused3.

Dave – good luck house hunting!

AFM – short walk this morning with the dogs, as soon as I am off here, will get in a good bike ride – then off for an oil change in the car and house cleaning when I get home.

Pixie dust to all who are in need!

Have a great day all!

Good Afternoon Team!

Vicky, Nice race result :thumbsup2
My coworker is also an oil of oregano user. She's an over indulger(sp) in terms of vitamins/ holistic/ naturopathic remedies. She actually puts the oil drops under her tongue not into water etc. Last winter she over did it on the oil & ended up burning the inside of her mouth from over use. :rolleyes1
I just want to get this airfare booked. 1 less thing to think about.

Margie, Feel better soon!

Lynn, We are in the early planning stages for Alaska in 2012. We wouldn't be doing Disney if it's even offered. Too many choices & I'm the one left doing all the research for the group.

Kim, Hope your mom is on the mend soon!

Sounds like everyone is getting in some great miles & training. Have a great day..........Sue

Hi Team,

Margie~ It sounds like you have been under the weather for a while now, How are you feeling today?

Dave~ I'm glad that Sally is doing okay! How is the house hunting going? I liked the one you listed here. Prices seem much cheaper there!

Vicky~ Great race! I loved the report also!

The weather has finally cooled off here. High of 75 degrees today. What a difference! I ran 3.1 on Friday with a pace of 9:33 and today I RAN 12 MILES for my longest run ever! :woohoo: My pace was 10:13 a mile. My left hip is really sore again. I think I might have tendonities as it was fine at the beginning of the run. I noticed that as I change my stride, it affects how much it flares up. I was squawking at the end of the run. It was a morale boost to go the distance. I feel better about the upcoming Wine and Dine! I'll just have to rest it more, I guess.

Liz did great in her first triathalon over the weekend. I'm really proud of her and more than a little jealous! Now that she is on our team, you should be able to read her race report soon!
It was hard for her to get on our old PC as it was in our bedroom and with my working nights, I was always sleeping while she was home. With our laptop, she can go mobile inside the house while I'm snoozin'. Technology is a wonderful thing!

To those of you who need it, many wishes for a recovery from injuries.

I'm finally coming up for air, life is pretty much a whirlwind right now. All in a good way but still WOW.

After 4 hours sleep and then a hard 5 mile training walk we house hunted all day. The house that I posted was already on contract but we did find another that interests us. It borders a hube farm and the view from the deck is amazing.

I had 10 hours sleep last night and feel like a new panda, now it's time to clean up and start all over again.

Hi team!

I am with DH in Houston. We arrived yesterday. It's a business trip for him, but since he had a voucher for a free flight, I got to come along. He will be in meetings today, so I'm just going to hang out in our room and catch up on knitting. Brought some DVD's so I will catch up on those as well. Went out to dinner at a lovely seafood restaurant last night. Great crabcakes there! Then did a little shopping. Got lost :confused3 trying to find the parking garage, but finally made it back to our motel!

Went to the fitness center here and ran on the DM. Felt good to get moving again. Plan to go again tomorrow before we leave. Might work with the weights for some cross training.

Hi team! It's a quiet day here, everyone's in meetings except for me so I figure I'll sneak in a quick post.

Sue - It feels like that every year for me as soon as the CNE starts up. Btw, did you hear about some of the new "treats" they're offering this year. Fried butter... I know it's covered in batter but I think I nearly gagged when someone told me about that. How's training for Niagara coming along?

Margie - I wished shipping from the Running Warehouse wasn't so expensive to Canada. Actually maybe that's a good thing or I'd be ordering stuff from them all the time :) pixiedust: for your cold! It's been around long enough already! Time to go!

Dave - Yeah for a new and refreshed Panda! How's the training coming along for the senior Olympics?

Mary - Hope you're having fun in Houston! Hanging around and relaxing sounds like the way to go! I love crabcakes too!

Mike - WTG on your 12 miler! Sounds like you had a fantastic run with a great pace! Have you tried some hip opening exercises? A couple of the ones I do are Spiderman crawls, deadlifting, Bulgarian squats w/weights... There are some yoga poses which are good for the hips as well but I'm not familiar with them.

Liz - Congrats on your tri! And you totally rocked the time! I've always wanted to enter a tri but think I wouldn't do well in the swimming. I'm afraid of heights so I'd have a difficult time practicing in the pool.

AFM - I went out to run with the running group last night. I joined the 5K group and had lots of fun! It's kind of nice to go on a run and not to worry about time or pace. They did ask me why I was running with their group since I'm "speedy". So I told them I had been tapering for the 30K and now I was recovering. They were all impressed - it's so rare I get to do that :)

I was talking to people at work a little more about the upcoming 1/2 in September and one of the other girls I sit with are both trying for a goal of 2:00. So we were trying to figure out how we were going to finish. She's a continuous runner and I'm a run/walk person so we can't pace each other :( We'll probably just end up going with the pace bunnies and hope to get there. I might try to increase my intervals to 15/1 and then run the last 3-6 miles of the 1/2. I know to get a 2:00 finish, I'll have to hit the 10K mark around 55 minutes which I've never done before. I'm thinking that maybe a 2:07 might be more realistic.

Have a great day everyone! :wave2:

Good Morning Team!

Liz – Congrats on the Tri!

Kim – More pixiedust:for your DMIL!

Dave – glad to hear that you got a good night sleep! Hope the house hunting was productive (we spent a full weekend hauling around the real estate agent when we were looking in Cheyenne – going to all the places we had found on the internet).

Vicky – yes, early morning is a must, it heats up really fast – today it was warm at 8am (I slept a little late today). In the winter, morning also means no wind – which becomes an issued then.

Margie – more pixiedust:for you – yes, that cold has hung on way too long!

AFM – got in a good 4 miles yesterday, then a 5 mile bike ride. Last night we went down to Denver for a blues concert – BB King, Buddy Guy, and Al Green. The concert was in a natural amphitheatre outside, it was a beautiful area, and the concert was great! But we did not get home until 2:30 am, Scott ended up with 3 hours sleep, I ended up with 4 hours. Todays walk was just around the block (1.26 miles), and it was already quite warm by the time I got out – 8am. Later, if I get the house cleaned, I will get in another bike ride, either outside, or if it is too hot (90 degrees today), I will hit the spin bike in the basement.

pixiedust:to all who are in need!

Have a great day all!

Hi Team,

No workout for me today. After yesterday's 12 miler, I'm taking a day off. Liz is off work today and Robert is at his Grandparents. Big partiers that we are, we are......napping! :sad2: We are so pathetic.

Kim~ many prayers for your DMIL

Vicky~ Thank you, I'm really thinking that I need crosstraining to ease my hip troubles.

Thanks everyone for the good thoughts. They must have worked, no blockages, she will get the final word today but they just said that her heart muscles are just getting a bit soft. She is 78 years old and although quit smoking about 10 years ago she did smoke for about 40 years prior to that. Not sure if that has anything to do with it or not.

But again thank you all very much!!!!

Good Morning Y'all.

The world of Panda is surely on the rise. I'm finally free of my ex, we are house hunting, I'm working every hour I can get so I can gather the money to get started since I stated from zero. My PF is under control and I'm feeling super, despite being tired from work, that tired, Jet Lag, feeling will pass as I acclimate even more to my busy schedule.

Sally is doing well, weak but recovering. She is very excited about our house hunting and becoming Mrs Panda when we find one. I'm confident she will make an outstanding life partner. We will have been dating for a about a year by the time we make it official.

Ok I'm off for a 5 miler on the hills.

Good Morning Team!

Dave - glad to hear that all is well in the Panda world!

Sally - pixiedust: for you and your quick recovery!

Kim - glad to hear good news about your DMIL!

Mike - you deserve a day off after 12 miles! Napping is good!!!

AFM - I got in 6 miles this morning, dogs only made it 3 1/2! I got out early enough that heat was not an issue this morning, but it is quite warm now, and looks like it will be in the 90's again today. Those few days of 70's was really nice!!!

Happy Friday team! Nice, sunny and cool in Toronto today. I got suckered into helping my mom pick up some stuff to BBQ from St. Lawrence Market. It's kind of like a farmer's market but it's open 7 days a week. She didn't want to drive downtown (or pay for parking) so she figured I work about 20 minutes away... Anyway, I think I ended up taking back 4-5 lbs of various things. If I had realized it was going to be that heavy, I would have passed. Did some upper body work and weights on my arms so they're a little sore today. I'm not looking forward to carrying it back on the subway but at least I'll have a tasty dinner :)

Did my training session yesterday and did some deadlifting again. It was tough because I hadn't done them in about a month. My chiro had me really focusing on my form so each lift was done s-l-o-w-l-y and it made it that much tougher! She also had me trying to do some chin ups. Does anyone here do them? I'm looking for tips to make them eaiser :) If I take a bit of a running jump, the first one is okay. The second one I can make half way up with a little bit of help and the third one, I think she's lifting me all the way for that one. She says she'll have me doing chin ups in no time which I think is pretty cool!

I also went by the running store downtown to have them look at my Fuel Belt. The 3 of the 4 bottles I have don't close properly so a little bit of liquid tends to spill. I don't care if it's just water but since I carry Gatorade which comes in fun colours like blue, neon yellow, red... Anyway, they were nice and gave me 4 new 8oz bottles. I made sure to check that they closed properly before I left :)

Going out for a light 10K tomorrow morning and then will check out some properties in the late morning/early afternoon. Then I'll be home for an afternoon nap and dinner/movie!

Dave - Are there wedding plans in the future?

Lynn - WTG on the 6 miler!

Kim - Fantastic news about DMIL! I'm glad everything's okay!

Mike - Napping sounds like a great plan to me! Maybe that's just me getting older  I find I can no longer stay up past 2AM.

Have a great weekend everyone! :wave2:

Hello Team!

Welcome, Liz! Congrats on your tri!

Vicky - Yes, we're doing the DL 1/2. It's a little more than a week away. We just watched the flugtag. I think it takes a lot of effort and money to actually compete in it.

Lynn - The temps are starting to come down out here. Anaheim is usually a few degrees cooler than where we live. The high is currently predicted to be 78 deg in Anaheim for the day of the half. We will be driving down for the race on Saturday. When do you leave for the half?

Dave - Glad to hear things are going well for you. Good luck in the house hunt!

Margie - I hope you feel better soon!

AFM - This week has been pretty busy, I'm glad it's Friday. DH and I went to an open house last weekend and found a house that we thought was interesting. So, we went back this week with our realtor. It's about 1500 sq ft with 3bd/ 2ba which is hard to find out here in our price range. But it doesn't have any air conditioning, not even window units. AC is a must in So Cal and it would be very expensive to install. The house needs a lot of cosmetic work too. We're thinking about it, but I'm not sure we want to take on a house that needs a lot of work.

Tomorrow we're going to DL. We wanted to be able to go to the parks after the DL half so we got the summer So Cal resident pass as we thought it was the best deal. It's good for the 3 visits, but we have to use the first visit by this weekend. So, we're going to DCA to see World of Color.

The DL half is about a week away and I'm getting anxious. We have a short run tonight and then we'll do 5 miles on Sunday. I'm trying to make sure we have everything we need for race weekend. Do any of you ever check a bag at Disney races? I'm not sure if we need to because I don't know what I'll need after the race. If you check a bag, what do you put in it?

Have a great weekend!
Emily

Sorry to be AWOL. I have had a long week of taking care of a sick mule, going to the doctor for my back, bucking hay, and trying to keep up with the peaches and okra and life!

Kim - Good news about your MIL. Hope your heel feels better too!

Mike - congrats on the 12 miler. Naps are ALWAYS good!

Liz - WELCOME! Glad to hear from you! Give us a short bio for the front page!

Vicky and Dave - Enjoy house hunting.

Margie - Get over that stinkin' Cold or whooping cough or whatever that is!

hugs and PD all around.

Hey kids , last week was mostly no fun, but such is my life at times, good concert and good doc visit, released from pt to go forth as I can, releases to run a little couple times a week short distances, an occasional 5or 10 k is ok, longer stuff walk,

Lynn is my link here and she keeps me informed on the going ons , sounds busy and healthy, with all kinds of fun stuff going on,

We will be at Dl Thursday afternoon and leave Monday morning. Maybe turning into a cyclist the expo will not be as costly lol.

Off for a bike ride, mow the lawn, maybe do that Tuesday night, packing today for sure.

Hi guys.

The house hunt continues. Sally, her sister and the agent will be going out tomorrow while I'm working at Paducah to earn the down payment money. By the end of the month I should have it and be able to start gathering Disney funds.

I had a good but eventful week. My ex sold the old house and is gone now for good. She resides some where in New Jersey now. I think that it's for the best that we went our sperate ways and I can get closure now and move on.

Sally is healing nicely and excited to be starting a new life with me, we just need to find a nest and we can get on with our new adventure together.

I'm not feeling any pain at all now from the PF injury and still taking it easy with the workouts. I'm doing 4 to 5 mile training walks every other day. Next wed I'll do a 6 miler and the following week a 7 miler, finally an 8 miler the next week. Then I should be ready to complete the USAF half. I did the Goofy last January with a longest training walk of 8 miles so I should be fine. I'll start Goofy training in Oct.

Hope everyone is doing well.

Good morning, Team.

Scott - Sorry you had a less than stellar week. There with you!

Dave - Congrats on coming along financially so quickly. How are Mary/Chris and the baby? Will there be wedding bells all the way around?

Margie - Keeping you and your family in my daily prayers.

Jennifer - have you abandoned us for a beauty queen forum??

Regina - That coaching young women should be fun!

AFM - Getting ready for the big elk hunt. We will be picking up my new mule this week sometime. Right now, I only know her name to be Walmart! :rotfl: The guy who owned her said that she had everything you needed, just like Walmart. We will be gone for about 2 weeks. So, I will definitely be AWOL for a while. I hope it's a good time. -- The kids were here this weekend. It was fun. DS is still visiting. I think he comes for the food, truthfully!

See ya - Connie

Good Morning Team!

Vicky – how is the house hunting going?

Emily – Scott searched Accuweather for temps, it sounds like it is going to be really hot on Thursday when we arrive, but cooling off a bit for the weekend, which is great! As I said, we will be arriving on Thursday, then have Friday to hit the Expo, Sat for the 5K and Sun for the half, then leaving on Monday. We have park tickets this time, so we will even go into the parks. I have my neon green WISH shirts for the races, Scott will only have green on for one race – don’t know which one. Look for green and we will try to get together. Are you going to make it to the WISH meet at Jamba Juice Friday night?

As for checking bags, most folks will put in a dry shirt and maybe a change of shoes and/or socks, I have seen a lot put crocs in, but do not put anything in that you are not willing to lose! Scott used bag check once for dry shirt, as it takes me so much longer to finish than him. I never used one, because when I finish, we usually head straight back to the hotel for showers. Could also put some recovery food in it.

Connie – hope the mule is better! You are still working on the okra??? Yes, I know races are different, but I am SO slow that I am not sure that is enough!

Margie – the foot seems to be OK, have not had any problems with it since that one day.

Dave – you are still sounding really good! Good luck on the house hunting!

AFM – Low key weekend, Scott really pooped out from his stressful week, so he relaxed while I packed for our trip. We did hit the Farmer’s Market yesterday for some peaches and roasted green chilis. We did do a 5 mile bike ride yesterday. I am really liking my new bike.

Pixie dust to all who are in need!

Hello Team!

Lynn - Unfortunately, I won't be at the meet on Friday. Rush hour traffic is really bad so it would take a long time to get down there after work. DH will be wearing a blue shirt and gray shorts for the race. I'll be wearing a black running skirt and white visor, don't know what color shirt yet. My bib number is 9499/ DH is 9498. What is your bib number? We plan to get there midday Saturday, so if you'd like we could meet up Saturday afternoon/ evening but I totally understand if you don't want to take time away from visiting the parks.

Connie - Hope you have a great time on the elk hunt!

Scott - Glad you got good news from the PT!

AFM - DL was really fun, World of Color is fantastic! Only had time to do three miles today, but it went well. DH and I decided to put in an offer on the house  We have a lot of paperwork to read tonight. Hopefully we'll hear something back later tomorrow.

Got out for a 10M yesterday....foot hurts like h*** today but will continue to stretch it out. I have 2 (1/2) marathons back to back in Sept and as usual going in undertrainned and apparently injuried again but that isn't going to stop me.

Kimmer: Roll your feet on a tennis ball at work. Wear only comfortable shoes to work, no heels. Have Mike give you a good foot massage every night. Gently stretch several times a day. Wear flip flops around the house instead of bare foot. Use the stick all over your legs especially the calves and shin muscles. Use the frozen water bottle to roll your feet in the evening.

I will be looking at houses again wed when I'm off. Sally and the agent spent a long day looking and they have some treed for me to look at. I hope to make an offer on one after that.

Sunday I walk from the hotel here in Paducah, there is a really long hill that goes to an area of car lots and industrial area. I think it's about 5 miles round trip. I really crank it coming back down the hill, by then I'm good and warmed up. Yes Kimmer when I get back I use the tennis ball after stretching.

Hi team! Not much to report today. I've been feeling sluggish since Friday so I haven't done much running :( I'm definitely going to try and get a better night's sleep tonight and hopefully have more energy for tomorrow.

Sue - Yup, it's a solo trip. I booked my room a couple of weeks ago when the discount code was released. I used the room only code since I still have my AP. Still no discounts on A/C or WJ flights but since tomorrow is September 1, they can't be too far around the corner. Are you going solo as well?

Emily - Good luck with your offer! I hope things go well and the AC costs aren't too expensive.

Scott - Good advice about space and junk accumulating. I'm in the process of slowly decluttering and I'm a little embarassed to admit that it's a little more painful than I think it should be. I have a hard time parting with stuff sometimes. Safe travels to you and Lynn! Hope you guys have a blast in DL!

Connie - Congrats on the 23 lb loss! Is it the PX90 or all the work you've been doing around your place?

Margie - I'm looking forward to fall as well. Here's hoping the change in season will bring a change in other things as well! Have you been walking with Nikki lately? How's that going? How are Hagen and Sara doing?

Kim - WTG on your 10 miler! Ouch on your foot! Keep icing it like Dave said. Yeah and don't wear heels. I haven't worn heels very much this year myself. Have you thought about going to see a physio or getting ART or accupuncture on your foot. It might help with the pain.

Lynn - I saw one place that I really, really liked on Saturday. It was a split level condo and had a nice walk-in closet. I loved the closet! It was a little more than I wanted to spend so I've got it in the back of my mind and I'm still looking :)

AFM - I went to look at a couple of places on Saturday morning. They were all downtown and about a 15-20 minute walk to my office. There was one unit I liked a lot - split level, big walk-in closet but a little more than I wanted to spend. My move out deadline is December 2011 so I'm taking my time and not rushing into things.

Couldn't wake up this morning or yesterday morning to go running. I just didn't feel like I had a lot of energy. I did my training session last night and we did a lot of core work with some new exercises like a plank row with the cable machine. We also did more ladder work and I slowly think I'm getting the hang of it - balancing and the coordination of hopping in and out between the squares. We also did a plyometric exercise which was fun. Hopefully all of this will help to make me faster! And if not, I'll at least look fast

Have a great day everyone! :wave2:

Good Morning, Team! :wave2:

Last Day of a very Hot and Humid August!
Mostly Sunny / High of 90°; Humidity 81%

Connie- we are cooling down for the weekend.
I do hope you guys have good weather for the Elk Hunt!

Dave-what Scott said.
Like Vicky I am a Pat Rat, so I find it easier to just not buy anything new!

Emily-do hope it is good news on that house and the AC expense!

Kim- is your foot any better? pixiedust:

Liz-have you recovered from the TRI?
Any pictures to share?

Lynn-WTG on the bike ride and the 3 miler with the dogs!

Regina-What's Up?

Scott-I think you need to be very-very busy all the time!

Sue-You Did! :goodvibes

Great training exercises-
Nice Condo-
Hotel Booked for WDW-
You Go Girl!

Q. Is this advisable? Any Words of Wisdom?
My furnace is 15 yrs old...I have had some repair cost in the past.
I am considering a new high effiency furnace now due to all the rebates-
They say the rebate will reduce the cost about half

AFM:No, I have not been able to go the gym or walk for the past
two weeks-I feel much better today so thinking by the weekend I will
be physically able to get back on track.

Good Morning Team!

Dave – with collecting “stuff”, the question is what do you feel you “need” – Scott “needs” everything we collect:rotfl:!

Emily – good luck with the house! Hope to see you, sounds like the WISH group will be meeting near the “W” booth – but I have found it is easier just to look for the mass of green.

Sue – have fun at the cottage!

Connie – congrats on the weight loss!

Vicky – don’t forget that you can offer less than the asking price, when we had my Dad’s house on the market, the first 2 offers were really low, we countered with a reasonable offer, and one was accepted. I could not fault them for trying to see how desperate we were to sell, but the moral is, offer less and see what the seller is willing to take. Your training sounds like it is going well! Keep it up!!

Margie – I am by no means an expert – but I do know that the new furnaces do cut energy costs a good bit! I also can’t help but to think it would be cheaper to replace a furnace on your terms rather than waiting until it dies on some sub zero night during a snow storm that prevents repair man from coming for a week!!!

AFM - Scott and I got a short bike ride in last night (he was late getting home, and the wind picked up after our first loop), 3 loops around our block (3.5 miles). Today the dogs and I got another 3 miles in, it was a bit cooler this morning. Will get the lawn mowed later today, maybe another bike ride in.

Pixie dust to all who are in need!

Have a great day all!

Yes it is all very important stuff and ya never know when ya might need it, so there...

Also note to self, get home late and the lawn will be done.

Back to heat systems, the new ones really make a difference, friends wit a bit older house have about a $500 a month bill, and ours is about 125-140 in the dead of winter. We also have a tankless water heater that I do believe save money.

I don't mind having stuff. I usually give away what I don't need though.

Dave:hippie:

Just don't forget the maintenance factor, keep it easy and simple.

Good afternoon Guys!

Be sure and look for the new thread coming very, very soon!!!

Vicky - Do you sleep? I am just wondering because you sure do get a lot done! :rotfl: Good luck house hunting! Are you pre-approved for your home loan?

Dave - To quote a country song, "Love grows best in little houses!" I believe as we age that we should have smaller houses full of the stuff our kids think they want. That way, the kids come to visit their future belongings but can't stay long enough for you to want to burn it all down around them!

Sue - enjoy the cottage! I remember school shopping, in my other life. I bought the clearance sales and then bought the winter clothes at Christmas! If I didn't do that, the kids grew out of EVERYTHING by Christmas and I had to do it all again, anyway. So.....

Emily - I hope the offer on the house works out just the way you want it too! Sure is alot of house hunting going on around here! Right now, I am thinking I may need the heater more than the A/C!

Margie - I don't know what to tell you about the furnace. Seems yours is fairly new in the furnace world! I think I would look at the offeres. Maybe have the furnace inspected for opinions on it's longevity and costs/savings of replacement, figure out financing and then decide! (new thread coming soon expect a phone call!)

Lynn - You are doing great fighting your way back from the surgery. Getting swept isn't so bad. You get to be first in line at the bus, you get to see others sweating while you are riding along in a controlled environment, and you can still claim you did it ...at least some of it! Seriously, the worst part of being swept is that being swept is the worst part. It's not any worse than that! I am speaking from experience, you know.

Scott - LOL That's funny, if you are lucky, Lynn won't save the lawn for you, now! Jon has the same opinion about stuff too. Only he tries to fill up every empty space with it!

AFM - I have been getting out my fall/winter things. I DO NOT want to be cold on this little excursion into the Rockies. I lived in Colorado too many years and know that it might be nice today, but it can snow or rain any second! So, I am taking a combination of things ( alot of tech clothing, too) so that I can be as comfortable as possible. However, this means that I have been doing lots of laundry! :laundy:

The garden is just about played out. Thank goodness! I am about sick of all that! Soon, I can start P90X and see if I can find groove again.

Thank you all! It's so nice to have a cheering section just because I have a weight loss! :grouphug:

We will be leaving on Saturday or Sunday. I am looking forward to this.....yea, that's the spirit, I AM looking forward to this, .....:sad2:

See ya, Connie
