Morning friends!!!
Hope you are all doing well and enjoying the day, whether you are running, walking or just relaxing. We are going school shopping for DD today, both clothes and supplies. Should be fun!
I ran 6 miles this morning in my fastest time EVER, 57:44. My previous best time was 1:04:56. I am perplexed by how fast I am able to run so fast the day after a 9 mile long run. This is something new for me, as previously I could not even walk right after a long run, much less run and run well. Guess the training plan is working!
Scale was a bit unkind today, but that was to be expected. Our friends from Long Island were on their way home from vacation near our house and stopped by and we went out for dinner. We had Mexican, and I was craving fajitas. They were spectacular, but I was feeling the effects last night and this morning.

Veronica~ Great job on the runs, you are such an inspiration:goodvibes I hope you are having fun shopping today. We need to do that for my DS1 in the next week or two. He is starting kindergarten this year. I cant believe how time flies. Its funny but I have been dying for fajitas too. I hope you enjoyed them even though you are feeling the after effects now.
I had a great time running last night. It was cooler (70's) and less humid. I did 4 miles in 48:13. My first 5K race I ever did I completed in 47:? So I guess I really am improving. Slowly but surely! I am a little sore today which is telling me I really need to remember to stretch after I run. I think I will go out tonight again for another run. Its raining off/on today but I prefer to run in the rain so it should be good.
Have a great rest of the day everyone!

Hi Everyone! Nice jobs on your runs, Veronica and Lindsay! I've been MIA the last couple of weeks since I was away on vacation and posts needed to be made on an iPhone. I've been reading, though! I got most of my runs in even while vacationing. It's getting closer and closer to the Disneyland Half, so I can't let up now! The runs while at Asilomar in Pacific Grove/Monterey were no problem. Running on two days for 4 1/2 miles by the ocean was a dream. The next week was up in Tahoe and we were staying at 6700 feet. That was a little tougher and while we got the two 4 1/2 mile mid-week runs done (in under 15 minutes/mile with which I was really happy considering the lack of oxygen!), we decided to forego the 7 mile long run the first Sunday in Tahoe when we hadn't even started acclimating. We went on a hike, so got excercise in, just not running. I did the 7 mile run this morning, instead. The funny thing is, being back at close to sea level should have felt much easier, but I suppose I was tired from all the hiking and rafting this last week.
Only five more weeks to the DL Half! Only four more long runs! It's getting close!

I love that optimism-only 4 more long runs!:lmao: For me they are 10, 11, 12 and 6 milers. But I am very excited about the trip and the race. Mostly looking forward to seeing old friends and meeting new ones!

And me, and me! I guess I got added mid-month last month? elbowglitter/Megan - 1/10/81, training for DL and Wine and Dine.
I am battling a cold, so I set out for this weekend's 8 miler and made it through less than half a mile before giving up. Hoping to feel good enough to do 5 tonight. If not tonight, tomorrow night. I hate summer colds!

Good morning, all!
Veronica - sounds like you are feeling better now. Congrats on your 6 mile run. GREAT time! You are going to take DL by storm!
Lindsay - you are improving nicely! 4 miles at 48 min! You've gone from a little over a 15-min pace to a 12-min pace. Great job!
Stephanie - sounds like a great vacation. Way to go for getting those miles in during that time. Whenever I go on vacation my intentions are good about exercising but I never seem to quite follow throught like I should. *sigh*
Megan - hope you get to feeling better. Summer colds are the nastiest. Sending pixie dust your way!
Yay - only 4 more long runs. Wow, Veronica, you've got some high mileage still planned. The long runs I'm planning to do, mileage-wise, are 6, 10, 8 & 5. I'm going to participate in a racewalking clinic next weekend so I'm not sure I'll be able to get in the long run.
Speaking of long runs, I did my 8-miler yesterday. My DH will go with me but not earlier than 7am. At 7am yesterday, the temp was 82 degrees with 90% humidity. It was brutal! By the time I finished, the temp was 90 degrees. My clothes (and shoes) were soaking wet. The temps today and tomorrow are predicted to be record-breaking - 104, 105 with a heat index of 119. UGH!! I am so envious of all of you with 70 degree & lower temps! Take it while you can.
Hope you all have a great week! Stay cool and hydrate!

Is it bad that my reaction is "Oh no! Only 4 more long runs!" I'm so NERVOUS! My schedule has me doing 8, 8-9, 9, and 10. I have never run a half-marathon before and I'm scared that I can't do it. I've run a number of 10 mile races, and I'm sure I could have run those 10 miles and then walked the remaining 3.1 within the time limit, so I shouldn't be worried, but I AM!

So my mouse is back and I can finally function as a normal human being. Megan - it was hidden in the boy's room, who btw swore he didn't know where it was. In his defense, DD most likely was the culprit.:lmao:
Personals!!!!
Veronica - I am also looking forward to cooler temps, although they are likely a very long ways off for us here in FL.:headache: Congratulations on the fast running!!! I am sorry the scale has been unkind to you. I am struggling this summer too. Actually looking forward to a normal schedule so I can eat better. I am trying to get back on track now, hopefully we can both see some results in the next few weeks!
Lindsay - Yay on the improved pace:woohoo: I also LOVE running in the rain:lovestruc
Stephanie - welcome back! Good luck on your last few weeks of training!
Megan - sorry about the cold, I hope you get over it quickly
Susie - I hear you with the crazy temps and HUMIDITY even in the early am. :scared1: Keep hydrated and try to find shade.
Wow, so many Incredibles are doing the DL Half! Good Luck on the rest of your training:wizard:
Yesterday DH was off because he switched his extra day from Friday, so we went to the Alligator Farm down in St Augustine. It was fun but HOT! I just know that I could never do Disney in the summer. I am so glad that we are FL residents now:love:. I decided that for my birthday (in September) I don't want any gifts, I want a trip down to the World. Yay!! We are going the last weekend in September even though I know it will still be really hot and humid, it will not be crowded and I think I can handle the heat since it should be a good 10 degrees cooler than it is now:laughing:. I am very excited. ADRs have been a challenge b/c of FD, but I am very flexible and didn't really want a ton of TS meals anyway. We are going on the cheap, so we will be eating breakfast in the room, packing lunches most days and eating at the ASSports food court quite a bit. Can't wait to go.
Running has been going well for the past few weeks. I took Saturday off b/c I won't be able to do that soon when I get into my more intense training. I am running tonight (5K speedwork). Hopefully it will rain a little and cool things down a little before then.
Have a great day INCREDIBLES!

Well, it's been a wild week. Still fighting a cold, and my office was temporarily evacuated today due to some unventilated polyurethane painting. Or something. I'm not sure what happened, really. Oh, and my apartment complex is rehabbing my bathroom, so the roommate and I are sharing her bathroom, which is an adventure for two women who aren't so coherent in the morning!
Cold is still here, sadly. I can breathe through my nose, but my sinuses feel all swollen still. Hope it's not turning into a sinus infection! I'm considering running tonight if I feel better, but I'm just not sure it's going to happen. If it doesn't happen today, I won't be able to run again til Friday, and I hate having to take a full week off this late in my training, but I'll do what I have to to stay healthy.

Megan - here's more :wizard: for your cold. Hope it clears up soon for you. If you don't feel like running tonight, you might consider walking the miles...if you feel like it. This way, you can get in your steps/miles in without over exerting yourself. And, don't worry. You'll do fine for your first half. While training for my first half (and first race ever), I injured my gricilis muscle in the thigh area. This happened 3 weeks before the race. I still had 2 long runs to do. Running and walking at a fast pace was painful. Instead, I worked out on the eliptical. I did just fine. Missing a little training won't hurt you.
Beth - yay on finding the mouse. With little tykes, you never know where your stuff will end up. :teeth: By the way, hope you enjoy the Nike women's half. I did this race in 2007 and really liked it . This was the year before they introduced the lottery system for getting in. I wanted to go in 2008 but didn't get picked. Same for 2009. Nike re-opened the half in 2009 a month before the race so I was able to go. However, I couldn't get in this year. I think I'm done trying. Ha! Enjoy the race and the necklace! You'll have to post a pic of it when you get back. Oh, and have fun at WDW in Sept! Nice way to celebrate your BD.
Because of the heat, I have not been training very well. I'm getting some steps in but not nearly enough. Unfortunately, the hot temps (100+) will be here for at least the next 10 days. I may have to do some training inside. This weekend, I'm going to attend a racewalking clinic in Kansas City. This is mainly for my husband but I'm hoping to learn a thing or two. Racewalking is a very different movement from regular walking. I'm not sure it's a good idea to be taking this clinic right right now but I've done crazier things during some of my previous training. We'll see how it goes. :teeth:
Hope you all have a great weekend! Stay cool!

Thanks for all the pixie dust! I think it's helping. The cold is decidedly better today. Tuesday, rather than run, my roommate and I did a Dancing With the Stars workout. Not sure it was that great of a workout, but it was fun. We cannot dance!
I'm volunteering with a Great Pyrenees rescue event tonight, so no running til tomorrow, but I'm hoping to get in 5 miles tomorrow and then 8 on Sunday. Should definitely be doable. It's nice to be getting back to running. I can't believe my first half is in less than a month! Eeeek!

Hello, Incredibles! I just thought I would check in. I haven't been running for the past six weeks because I was pretty sure I have a stress fracture. It it still not better, so I will be going to the doctor next week. Now I wish I would have gone six weeks ago, but I have been going to the doctor so much for other health issues that I wanted to just get better on my own. As frustrating as this is, I can still do the Princess Half as long as I am better by the end of October. I will be so disappointed if I can't!
Even though I haven't been exercising, I have lost 18 pounds! I think I posted that I have reflux, but after a test last week, the doctor determined that I don't have it. SO...now we're trying to figure out what's going on. The one positive is that I have drastically changed my eating habits, which has led to the weight loss. However, I really want to get to the bottom of everything so I can feel better.
I am so excited for all of you who are doing the Disneyland Half! It sounds like your training is going wonderfully! I can't wait to read all about your experiences on race day!
Even though I am not exercising now, I'm still following along. Hopefully, I'll be incredible again very soon!

Susie - I am doing the Women's Half in St Pete, but I really want to do the Nike Women's one day. I would LOVE a Tiffany necklace!!! GL with the clinic, should be fun to learn a new technique.
Megan - glad your cold is getting better. I agree with Susie, you can walk at least some of the miles if you aren't feeling up to running and will still get benefit. I hurt my knee 3 weeks before my first full and ended up losing a ton of milage and it turned out fine:goodvibes
Lauren - sorry about your foot, I hope you get some answers soon:hug:. Congrats on the 18!!! pounds:worship::worship: It sucks that you had to lose it under such conditions, but nice nevertheless.
This week has been ok on the running front. I ran a great 3.5 miles at 8:28/mile pace. I felt good, but was tired Wednesday so I decided to take the day off. I ran last night my usual 5.5 miles but my legs were pretty heavy so I skipped the bridges which would have given me 7.5 miles. Went to the gym today and am planning on getting up early to run in the morning. I am thinking I will try for 6 miles, it will depend on if DH is going paintballing in the am and when I need to be back home.
Have a great weekend INCREDIBLES and stay cool:cool2:

Good morning Incredibles!! I'm still here, and still run/walking, but my dis time is definitely lacking lately. I'm getting out 3 times a week, and trying to add a little distance on one longer run/walk each week. Today I did 5.5 miles in just over 80 min, so hanging in around 15min/miles. I'm happy with that, and if I can keep it up as I add more distance, that will keep me from being swept in the princess.
Susie- Thanks for all the info on last months thread about the training plans. I like the Marathoning for mortals plans too, and will most likely use his run/walk plan. I especially like that it is 2 short runs and one long run each week. It's the long run that I'm afraid I'll have trouble getting in, so only one a week is definitely more doable. I like to bike too, and think I'll try to either bike or do an exercise video as my cross training. The biking I can do with my son more easily. Good luck with the race walking clinic. It's been such a hot summer everywhere. I wish I could send you our weather this weekend, it actually felt cool this morning. Good job getting those steps in, even with the heat. It's not easy.
Lauren- sorry about your foot, and reflux issues. I hope everything is better soon.
Beth- Wow, congrats on your 8:28 pace!! That is impressive!! I'm just under double that!! :rotfl: congrats on booking a trip for sept! We leave in 3 weeks from monday and are staying at assports too. I can't wait. Happy planning!!
Veronica and Megan- I love hearing about your training and I am so impressed. It must be so exciting to run in the disney parks, and you are both doing so well, you will rock the DL half!!! I'll be cheering your on from WDW that weekend!!
Sorry if I missed anybody. I don't get here as much as I'd like lately, but it's fun to catch up with everyone. Keep on running!!! :cheer2:

Oooh, an iPad. So jealous. I have no need for one, but I so want one anyway. Ahh, gadget lust. Also, I have to ask - roomthreeseventeen: a Miss Saigon reference? Every time I see your username, I start singing that song.
Got in 8 treadmill miles this weekend. They were ROUGH. I walked a bunch of the workout because I felt so sluggish (think I was still fighting off something) but still came in under a 13 minute mile average pace - and that's MORE than good enough for a Disney race! That's always my training motto. Doesn't matter how slow the run gets, I just want to stay above sweeper pace. Preferably faster than sweeper pace, just in case. Planning for 8-9 this next weekend. I hope the weather is decent so I can get outside.

Hello Incredibles!!
Sorry I have been MIA, but we took DD to sleepaway camp yesterday and trying to get her off and settled was taking up a bit of time. DH and I are enjoying some adult time. Tonight we went to a really big car show, took the dog with us. It was nice walking around looking at over 100 old cars to see how well maintained they are. DH is restoring a 89 Camaro, so he likes to look at the cars and see whats what. Tomorrow we are going to the drive in to see Despicable Me (DD saw it at a b-day party). Again, taking the dog with us. He is enjoying all the extra attention!!
I ran 10 miles on Saturday, could not keep a consistent pace at all. I averaged 10:38, which is fine, but it was rough going faster then slower, then faster again. Sunday was 5 miles, did it in 48 minutes and change. Again, good pace.
Food has been a struggle, we ate out yesterday after dropping DD off at camp. According to the Wii, I gained 4 lbs from yesterday:scared1: Obviously that cannot be right, but I am guessing the sodium is making me retain water. Oh well we shall see what tomorrow brings after I run. Humidity is back again for a bit, so it should be just ducky out there!
Its hard to believe that in 3 1/2 weeks we will be in California for the DL half!! I am so excited and looking forward to setting a new PR. My coach is pacing me, and we are definately shooting for 2:15, maybe faster if all the stars align (I feel good, weather is good etc). Then I take a week off before jumping right back into the training for the half marathon on 10/10 here at home.
Megan, god bless you doing all those miles on the dreadmill. I can't stand to be on it for 8 minutes, much less 8 miles! But great job getting it done!
Amy, enjoy your iPad. We thought about getting one for DD but she is much happier with a netbook.
Lauren, sorry to hear about all your troubles, but :thumbsup2 on the weight loss!!
Kathy, you continue to do a great job, you are making good progress. Keep up the good work and YOU will rock the Princess!!
Beth-nice pace there!! I wish I could get that quick! I can manage about 9:30 if I am really cooking. I figure that once I am at goal weight, those times will be reachable for me.
All right ladies, time for me to fly. Have to get my care package ready to send to DD at camp-jelly bracelets, a magazine and a card. We can't send food or money, so we try to come up with fun stuff she can share with the other girls if she wants.
Keep on runnin' girls!!!:cool1:

Hello fellow Incredibles!
Megan - you are a trooper doing all those miles on the treadmill. Ugh!
Veronica- I still get amazed at my pace! When I started running to train for my first full right after DS was born I could barely jog at 17:00/mile and I would be exhausted after less than 30 minutes. Now I am cruising along and am so grateful for my ability. I love my strong legs that can carry me so many miles:). Now, I also have lost a significant amount of weight. Right after DS was born I weighed 217 lbs!!! I am now down to 139 lbs and I know that makes a HUGE difference.
I had some good runs this past weekend. 6 miles on Saturday and 4 miles on the beach on Sunday. I really enjoyed the beach run. I haven't run this week, I had a tooth implant placed yesterday as the next step in rebuilding my mouth from a bile accident in April so no running until maybe Thursday evening. I am still planning on running a 5k Saturday morning, I really want a PR!:)
My 10th anniversary is tomorrow so DH and I are celebrating this weekend. My parents are taking the kids for the day and overnight Saturday and we are going to the lighthouse where we were married. I am really looking forward to it.
Keep running!

Happy almost anniversary, Beth! Hope that mouth heals up quickly for you!
I hate the treadmill, and find myself worrying that I'm not doing what I should to prepare for outdoor racing. That said, were I outside, I would be doing a lot more walking due to the heat (yet another record setting day yesterday), so I figure I'm at least getting my body used to running the distance. If I have to walk more than I would like on race day, so be it. I'm slow and this is my first half, so my goals are simply to not get swept.
I am hoping it cools off enough so that I can get in 8 miles outside this weekend though! Clearly, the weather doesn't want me to run a half. While training for Princess, we had all that insane record setting snow, so I was in on the treadmill. Now we have record heat and I'm back on the treadmill. But this time, I won't be getting sick before the race. Even if I have to wear a Hazmat suit to the parks.

Morning, everyone! I've been up since 4:15 this morning so I thought now would be a great time to get caught up. My 10 month old has a horrible diaper rash and it's been a heck of a night. Poor kid's never had one before but she's back down now and momma can't sleep.
I've been in kind of a running funk this week. Physically, I want to. Mentally, not so much. I missed my long run on Sunday (at least it was only 6 miles) and my interval run yesterday. I will definitely be running today! And hopefully making it out to the Y in time for Power Pump.
I've got some exciting news... after 14 years, my DH is going back to school! He got accepted into a pre-law program and starts on the 8th. We're not telling anyone besides my brother because they're not very supportive. His own mom told him he doesn't have the time more money for it. Seriously, lady? It's an education... he doesn't want to drive a truck and be away from his family the rest of his life. That woman...
elbowglitter - I understand what you're saying about the treadmill. About 80% of my running is done on the indoor track at the Y and I don't think that prepares me 100% for races but I have no choice. It's still a run so I take what I can get and know my determination will get me through the race.
Bephus - Hope you and DH had an awesome 10th anniversary! Congrats on your huge weight loss too. I'm at 93lbs lost myself (though it used to be 100) and still have 20 to go. I've run as far as 8 miles and three years ago, I would have laughed at you if you told me I'd run even 2!
Vern - Hurray for adult time... I don't even know what that is anymore! I can't believe the DL half is coming up so fast! And that you're jumping into another one on 10/10 (my little girl's first birthday). I betcha you'll knock 2:15 outta the park. That's my goal for my first half on 10/16 but I might just be talking outta my butt since it's my first!
Amy - iPad ::drool:: very cool! I'm still holding out for an iPhone for Christmas! Hurray on the 25 mile week. I haven't gotten past 20 yet but I'm doing as the plan tells me do. I don't think I'll hit over 22.
mikamah - Keep up the fantastic work! I'm sure you're not gonna get swept! You have plenty of time to train and adrenaline will be on your side too!
MickeyMomto2 - What's the word on the stress fracture? I hope everything's OK! Keep us posted! On a happy note, 18lbs is awesome!
escape - How was the racewalk clinic? What is it exactly? Sounds kinda interesting...
Til next time, gang!

Just checking in really quick. My computer died so I am back to the phone:(. Hopefully DH will get it fixed quickly.
Thanks for the anniversary wishes. We had a good day Thursday (DH ran with me for a present) and today we are spending the day together as the kids are at my parent's house. Yay.
On a running note, I ran a 5k this morning to get a PR since I haven't run for time in forever at that distance. I was hoping to break 26 min and I finished in 24:56!!!!!!! I am so happy. I ran a 7:59 min pace which is by far my best (last timed 5k was 8:55 pace in October 2008). What a great way to start my day:).

Beth, nice job on the 5k!! Way to rock it girl!!
Jess-glad to see you!! I know we are all busy moms, its tough to keep up with the online stuff sometimes.
We brought DD home from camp last night, she was tired and dirty but had an AWESOME time! She earned her Polar Bear Club shirt, which requires you to go to the lake every morning at 6:30 to swim. We had sent her lots of packages, good thing since one girl in her cabin got NO MAIL at all! Not a letter or card or anything.:sad1: So DD shared some of her stuff with the girl. One girl went home the first day because she had lice:eek: so everyone got checked. Can you imaging spending $900 for a week of camp and having to go back to get your kid before you even got back home? And there are no refunds. But obviously the kid had the lice before she left home, maybe the parents thought no one would notice?:confused3
Now I am off to do laundry and work on DD's room-we are moving her desk in there and we got her a new chair and a corkboard for the wall. And then I may take a nap. I ran 11 miles this morning, 1:57:23, which was pretty good. I had some adjustments made to my running shoes yesterday at Fleet Feet and they worked out pretty well. Tomorrow is 6 miles at race pace, then we are off to the Saratoga Race Track with friends. We will take a picnic lunch and feed the horsies lots of dollar bills, cause I never seem to win anything:lmao:
Take care and stay INCREDIBLE!!

I got in 10 miles today and it was a pathetic 10 miles. I was SOAKING WET when I finished - both physically and mentally. :crazy2: Here it is, 7:16pm, and the temp is still 100 degrees outside. This is Arkansas, not Arizona! I can't wait for cooler weather around here. Unfortunately, it won't be until after the W&D half.
Beth - sorry about that. I thought I saw a Nike Women's picture or logo in your signature. A friend and I are thinking about doing the Women's half in Tempe, AZ in November. I'll have to see how funds hold up before commiting. By the way, AWESOME 5K time! I can only dream of going that fast. Congratulations!
Lauren - Congrats on your weight loss but sorry about your foot. Yes, get that checked out immediately! For some reason, I thought you already had. Sorry about your other issues. Sending more :wizard: your way to help get you all healed up!
Kathy - good job of getting out there and getting the runs in. Your pace is already below the required 16 min pace. You should have NO problems completing the Princess within the required time! :thumbsup2
Amy - I would LOVE to have an iPad but I just can't justify it at this time. I'll have to live through you for now. Let us know how you like it. :teeth:
Megan - I did a lot of the training for my first half on a treadmill. Your pace is fine so you should be okay for the DL half. Let's just hope it's not hot and humid while were there! It was a couple of years ago although it wasn't quite as hot as the South is now. Ugh!
Veronica - great pace for your 11 miles! You are going to do awesome at DL. Glad your daughter enjoyed camp. As for the girl with lice - her parents had to know. Shame on them for sending her to camp with this! Geez!
Jess - racewalking is a very different movement from regular walking. It's a way to add speed without running. It's a very structured movement and takes a while to get the technique down AND get good at it. Our instructor competed in the Olympics several years ago and had something like a 6+min pace. We have a great racewalker in my hometown that does a 9-min mile. I'd like to incorporate it into my training someday but I'll have to start from scratch with my training in order to do so and I don't have the time right now. By the way - congratulations to your husband for going back to school. That is awesome! Your MIL sounds like mine - a bit on the negative side at times. Let us know how his schooling goes!
Patsy - where are you? :teeth:
Take care, everyone! Stay hydrated!

Wow its been so long since I checked in with you guys. I have been reading the updates but I guess I always get sidetracked before I post replies.
glad to see everyone is rocking the runs!!! You all are awesome.
Veronica- That sounds like a fun camp for your DD. So sad that the other little girl didnt get any packages. Your daughter was so sweet to share.
I did my longest run to date yesterday which was 6.2 miles. :yay:I did a 10K!
It took me 1hr and 21min but I completed it and thats all that matters.
It has been a little nicer out the past few days. Still mid 80's but not as humid.
My Mom and Aunt have put together a summer carnival party for the kids in our family today. They have all kinds of games and activities for them to do. They got all kinds of fun prizes. It should be a great time. Later I am hoping to get a short run in.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Woo! A 10K! And that's not a bad time at all!
Your family carnival sounds like so much fun. What a great idea! I hope the kids had a great time (and the adults too!).
I got in 8 miles outside yesterday. I committed to not running on the treadmill this weekend because it was cooler. It was also pouring. So I was quite wet by the time I got back. I'm incredibly stiff today. My normal outside route is super hilly, which I know is an excellent workout and great prep for a race (because the races I run are never this hilly) but man, I feel so out of shape! I can't believe I only have 2 more long runs before my first half! I'm so nervous!

Hi Team!!
Just a quick fly by, things are busy around here. DD is back from sleepaway camp, but just as busy with TKD and other stuff. And I have been tired as of late, not sure why. I could go to sleep right now ;) but there is much to be done.
I hope everyone is doing well with their training, this is my big week. 12 miles this Saturday and 7 on Sunday. Then I get to taper. We are getting more and more excited about going to Cali and I am really looking forward to the race.
Stay cool Incredibles!

Hi Incredibles!
Due to the heat & humidity around here, I haven't been getting in the miles like I should. I have no excuse; I could always go to the gym and use the treadmill. I'm beginning to sound like a broken record, I know. I think I need to move to a "cooler" state. Ha! These 100 degree days are getting old. I walked this morning starting at 5:00am with a friend. The temp was around 80 degrees and the humidity was so thick you could cut it with a knife. In the back of my mind, I wondered if the weather for the Wine & Dine half would feel like this. I did 15 miles on the bike last night. I was slow. I tell you, the heat just zaps my energy. It's also zapping my motivation. My friend said the same thing. We just don't have a big desire to get out and do much (exercise-wise) anymore.
Sorry for sounding so gloom. I was really looking forward to the DL race, and really, I still am, but I'm just not prepared as much as I should be. If I can just finish upright with no injuries, I'll be happy. :teeth:
I do have some exciting news, though. I am SO THRILLED! This will be my motivation to get out and lose some weight! It has always been a dream of mine to go to Japan someday. That day has come. I'm going to Tokyo during the Christmas holiday and I'll get to spend 2 days at Tokyo Disneyland! What will seem a little weird is that this will be one of the first trips I've had in a few years that didn't involve particpating in some type of running or biking event.

Susie, that's my goal as well. Don't get swept, finish the race, get a medal. The end. I've not been getting in my miles like I want to, and the ones I am getting in are on the treadmill. I am forcing myself to get my last two long runs (9 and 10 miles) done outside, even if the heat means I walk a ton of it. I need to get used to the hills.
That said, tonight it's off to the gym for a 5 miler. UGH.

Hello Incredibles!! It seems like forever since I've been on here. It's been a busy summer around here, and we haven't even had our vacation yet! Tomorrow is my last day of work and then I have 18 days off and my son and I are both soooo excited. Even more exciting we're taking two camping trips the first week and then I'm surprising him with a wdw trip, and he has no idea. It is so fun to see him so excited about our vacation and during the second week he thinks we'll do a water park and the beach and maybe go away to a motel a couple nights. I've been doing pretty good getting my runs in 3 days a week and making one longer. I started keeping track and now I don't want to run/walk less than 10 miles each week. I'm looking forward to school starting so I will be able to get out and run more easily once michael gets on the bus in the morning. After vacation I plan to sit down with my calendar and plan out my running and when I'll start the half training plan. This week I've been sticking to run 4 min, walk 1 min, and it seems to be working well. Before I would run 5-10 depending and walk 2-3, but toward the end of the runs, I would be walking longer and longer, and this way, I stuck with the 4 min runs till the end.
I wanted to wish all of you incredibles who are doing the DL half the best of luck! Not that you'll need it, you are going to rock that race!! Have so much fun and can't wait to hear all about it. I'll be thinking of you as we finish our wdw trip that day.
Susie- good luck in DL and congrats on your trip to Tokyo. How exciting. I've only ever been to wdw, and can't wait to get to dl someday. It's been so tough everywhere to get out in this heat, but I'm sure you will do just fine. Have a blast.
Veronica- Your dd sounds so sweet to share her treats with the other girl at camp. Glad she had a good time. Tomorrow is michael's last day of camp, and he's actually had a really fun time. The summer started with him whining about going to camp at all, so I'm happy that attitude changed pretty quickly. He wanted to know why I can't get a job like so and so's mom, and it's like, THEY DON"T WORK!!! Good luck with the 12 miles on saturday, and have an awesome trip to DL. You have been doing amazing with your training, and will have no problem with the dl half. Have fun!!
Megan- Congrats on the 8 miles, and the best of luck to you on your first half marathon. You must be so excited to be doing it in DL. Honestly the thoughts of the princess half is probably what has kept me running this summer. Good luck with your final long runs, and have a wonderful, magical run in dl!!
Jess- Congrats to your husband on going back to school. That's too bad his family doesn't support him, but at least you know it and it's not expected, and you have other support too. I hope your little one's rash is clearing up and he's feeling better. I remember the hot summer diaper rashes. Not fun.
LIndsay- Whoo hoo on running 10K!!!! Funny, until you posted it, I didn't think about it being 10k. I'v done 5.5 miles, so I only have to add .7 miles to make a 10K. Thanks for inspiring me again.
Bephus- Happy belated anniversary!! Hope you had a good run tonight.
We're leaving right after work tomorrow, for Maine. I'm planning to run sat and mon mornings- 3miles each and have mapmyruned where to go. Though the campground is pretty big, so I'll measure from the front gate to our site first.
Have a great rest of the summer, and I'll be back in sept. I should be able to keep up a little better once school is in session.

Veronica and Megan and anyone else I miss good luck on your final preperations for the DL 1/2. You guys rock!
Susie- Wow a trip to Japan is amazing. Im glad your dream is coming true:goodvibes
Kathy- I am so proud of you. Can you believe how far we have come since we first started running. Now you are at 5.5 miles and running way more than walking. You are going to wiz through the princess:thumbsup2 If I dont get to tell you on the BL boards, have a wonderful trip/trips. I cant wait to hear all about it when you return.
I only got out running once so far this week. I did a 5K. I plan on running tomorrow and at least sat or sunday (long run 6.5 miles).
Not too much else going on in my neck of the woods. Work is nutz and I feel like there is so much to do and so little time. We are preparing for my ds to start kindergarten on the 30th. Im getting a little nervous. We dont have much planned this weekend so hopefully I can get some relaxation in.
Keep up the good work everyone! You are Incredible.

Just got home from my run. Well, I finished 2 hours ago, but I just back to me house;). The run was WET! It was pouring when I got to the park where my group starts, so we waited out the worst of it and didn't have rain for the run but man oh man was is HUMID. I don't think I have ever been so wet after running except when it has actually been raining. :scared1: It was a good run though so I am glad for that at least. DH also got back early (took early flight) so he surprised the kids at dinner. They were thrilled to have him back:cloud9:
I hope that all you DL halfers are doing well in your last few weeks of training. You are all going to rock that race:lovestruc
Kathy - I hope your vacation is great! It sounds like so much fun! And how surprised will DS be when you go through the gates at the World! Have a great time.
Megan - you will not get swept! You are going to do INCREDIBLE:cheer2:
Susie - You too will do INCREDIBLE at the DL half! And congrats on the trip to Tokyo. DH traveled there for work 4 years ago and it is one of his favorite cities now. And to get to visit DLT too, wow too cool!
Veronica - almost there! I love those last few weeks of training, the excitement always pumps me up for the race.
Lindsay - :woohoo:10K!!! Congratulations!
Ok, I am off to bed now. Caio!

Veronica, what training program are you doing? Yikes! 12 miles on Saturday and 7 on Sunday! What will you run over the next couple of weeks as you taper?
DH and I just finished our 9 mile run. I finished in 2 hours and 10 minutes. Under sweep time, thank goodness! Why is it that the last mile (whether it's a four mile, five mile, or nine mile run) is always the hardest? Today is DH's and my 18th anniversary, so we ran a 1/2 mile for each year we've been married! He kept to my pace today so we could run together and we would reminisce about each year of our marriage as we got to a 1/2 mile mark. It was a fun run! Our DDs hung out at a friend's house while we went out. It was a very pleasant mid-60's temperature with a slight breeze and we ran along the American River bike trail. The only downside was those darn bikers! I don't really like running on the dirt trail beside the bike path, but that's what etiquette dictates so I was constantly jumping from the more comfortable pavement to the dirt trail whenever bikes came along towards me.
My feet are definitely sore now, but we got cleaned up and now DH and I going to take our DDs out to pick up lunch from one of our favorite little restuarants and take it out to a park for a picnic lunch.
Two more weeks until the Disneyland Half!!!:banana:

HI INCREDIBLES! ~ It has been FOREVER since I've been on here :sad2: My life has been sooo crazy & busy this past month. Unfortunately training for the D/L Half hasn't been my main priority.....I'll be paying for that in a couple of weeks but I've decided as long as I finish. I haven't even signed on in a month so I have a lot of catching up to do, but scanning quickly it looks live everyone is doing GREAT in their training. You are all my inspiration to train better next time!
So...last week I took my oldest to college....:sad1: He is now 2,000 miles away from me. So, although a sad excuse, it has been hard for me to get motivated to do much. But going to head out this afternoon and attempt 10 miles....should be doing 12 miles according to my training schedule but heck I haven't followed it this far so why start now!
So, I'm gonna try and be a better teammate....I've got to start signing in daily again! I'm hoping to get to meet the Incredibles that are going to be at Disneyland in a couple of weeks!
Good Luck to all who are going to be at Disneyland and to those who have other runs coming up!

What a sweet idea! I did my 9 mile run yesterday too, but I didn't have anything fun to reminisce about. Except the fact that I was getting the miles in and that I was running a half marathon in only two weeks! Eeek!
So I don't talk about this much, but after some major (random) panic attacks this spring, I went on Zoloft, but I've been packing on the pounds thanks to the drug (I'm at my highest weight ever, and also working out more than ever - and while some may be muscle, all my clothes are tight). I'm planning to call my doc today to see about tapering off. I was going to wait til after the race, but I hate how I feel about my body right now and just want to be done with it. I've still got Xanax in case I have any more panic attacks, but I just hate having to be on meds that raise my heart rate and make me gain weight! Ugh. I think the weight gain is more of a stressor than anything.

The plan is one my coach sent me. Unfortunately, I did not get to run my 7 yesterday. It was raining when I got up, not too hard though. Laced 'em up, went out. Got 0.3 miles from house when it started to POUR. I mean like the rain hurt when it hit my skin. Said forget it, turned around and went home. It poured all day. Thought about making up some of it today, but it was still raining. Coach said not to worry about it, since I am doing relatively well. I ran my 12 on Sat in 2:06, so I am right on track to do 2:15 at DL.

I know, can you believe we've got less than two weeks to go? I'm balking at my 5-mile run tomorrow. I'm tired and just don't want to get up early when it's relatively cool and tomorrow is finally supposed to be a hot one here! I'll do it tomorrow night and end up doing it on the dreaded treadmill.
Good luck with the decision for which medication to take and/or stop. It's got to feel so aggravating to have one problem solved while it causes another problem to emerge.

Yeah, DH is pretty great. He's more naturally athletic whereas I really have to work on anything that requires physical effort. So, I always think he's pretty sweet to run at my pace. He had decided to do his own thing at the Half and now is re-thinking wanting to run with me to help encourage me to keep my pace fast enough to get a medal.
So, you and DH were some of "those bike people"! :lmao: I'm finding it ironic that the bicyclists are getting on my nerves when I used to use the bike trail for biking and found "those runners" irritating. :rolleyes1 We didn't make it as far as Lake Natomas yesterday, though we were pretty close! We drove our car up to Nimbus Fish Hatchery and then ran back down to William Pond. When we went back to fetch our car later with the girls, we got lunch at Sunflower (yum!).

Hey guys. Thought I would pop in while DD is napping and see what everyone is up to.
I had a good tempo run last night with my running group. We usually just do a 5K, but there was an ultramarathoner there who split off and took a group on a 7 mile trail run. I was so tempted to do the longer distance, but I had a ton of shopping to do at Costco and BJs and Target and they do have hours:rotfl:. I ended up pushing myself on the 5K and then did the abs class after, so I got a good workout in. I also need that speedwork, so I feel good about my decision on the shorter milage.
I met with my trainer/coach today and we mapped out my training and nutrition plan for the Women's Half and Goofy. I feel great about my plan and am starting to look forward to upping the miles. I know, I am a nut! I officially start training September 6th, so I will be starting when you DL halfers are finishing. Too funny.
Personals:
Veronica - :woohoo:great job on the 12 miler!!! You are going to do so well at DL:wizard: I bet you are excited for your taper after all those miles.
Megan - I get panic attacks too. I have been on Zoloft, Buspar, Xanax, and something else that is on the tip of my tounge:mad:. I also had terrible side effects from ALL of them. :headache: I decided to taper off of all meds when I wanted to get preggo with DS. I changed my diet and started going to counseling. I am now med-free for over 5 years and still have a few random attacks, but am feeling so much better. I would talk with your Dr about alternative treatments, QoL is so important and you can't feel good if you are stressed about weight and other controlable issues:hug: If you want to talk about it, PM me.
Stephanie - What a sweet idea to run together like that for your anniversary! I love running with DH, and don't get to do it nearly enough. Congratulations on 18 years!!! It would be super sweet of DH to run with you at DL too. Sometimes they really show us why we pickedf them, don't they:love:.
Enjoy your tapers DLers and I'll talk at you later

Just stopping by to say Hello. It seems like all you DL 1/2 racers are doing great in your preperations. Keep up the good work. I will be here rooting for you girls:thumbsup2
I have been busy preparing for my DS to start kindergarten on monday! Gosh the time goes so fast but I am so excited for him to start school. He will be 6 in november and I definitely think he is getting bored being at daycare/PreK.
I need to come up with a new running schedule since its now getting darker earlier and I need to get the kids to bed at the normal time for school. I am struggling a bit fiting everything in during the week but I know if I sit down and make a plan it will make me feel less overwhelmed. Now I just have to find the time to sit down and do the plan.:lmao:
My next race is not until 10/16 with is a 5mile womens classic. Only women can run, and it benefits women's cancers, breast, ovarian, etc. It is a really great experience and there is always a huge huge crowd. I am really looking forward to it and it will be my longest race I have competed in. I only have done 5K's up until this point.
If I dont get back here before you all leave good luck in DL!

Thanks Beth! My doc was reluctant to take me off meds, but gave me a tapering plan anyway. I think it helped that I pointed out all the positive changes that I made and how the events leading to the panic attacks were really kind of a perfect storm. I think I'm going to start tapering after the half marathon though, because I know it could be hard, anxiety-wise. If I have to stay on, I have to stay on, and there's nothing wrong with that, but I'd like to be off if at all possible. I don't like the side effects at all!
Planning a 5 mile run tonight. I didn't get through Tuesday's because my plantar fasciitis was flaring and I decided rest was the better plan. Crossing my fingers tonight is better!

Hello Incredibles! I thought I'd stop by and say HI:wave2:.....I'm up extra early this morning...son has waterpolo practice @ 5:30 am so we are up and about early on Tuesday and Thursday mornings! Hopefully these morning practices will be ending soon though...it is tough on DS because he has to go straight to school for a full day and THEN practice again after school....
It is SO hard to believe that at this time next week we should be in the air and headed to John Wayne Int'l for our Disneyland trip! Sounds crazy I know but we like taking the 6:00am flight out of Sacramento when we are headed to DL. We land at 7:30, get our luggage, catch the DL Express, head to the hotel, store our luggage and be at the park shortly after they open! This gives us a FULL park day on our travel day. In April when we did this and we actually was able to check in when we got there so our room was ready for our luggage.
Veronica ~ Thanks for the link to the meets scheduled. I knew I'd seen a thread on that but I couldn't find it. Although I remember subscribing to it so I could keep up but for some reason I haven't been getting email updates :confused3 Hopefully I'll see you and the other Incredibles at a meet or if it's decided to have an "Incredible" meet that would be awesome too! I'd love to put some faces with names.
Stephanie ~ I'm definitely not one of those "bikers"! :lmao: I'm one of those runners that gets SUPER irritated at those bikers! Sometimes they can be just plain mean! I'm not super crazy about running on the dirt next to the paved path either but when I park at the Fish Hatchery and head towards Sunrise I make myself run on the dirt just to protect myself! It seems no matter how close I run to the edge of the paved trail I about get ran over....but I LOVE the bike trail along that area. It is so pretty it makes the runs bearable.
Happy Thursday everyone! Hope everyone has an AWESOME day!

Mickeys#1Fan4ever- I am excited for you to be going LOL. I will live vicariously through my wish team:).
I ran a fantastic 7 miles with two bridges in the pouring rain tonight. I LOVE running in the rain. It was so much cooler too. Now I need to dry out the kicks. Hee hee.
Have an Incredible Friday!

Got in my five miler last night! Getting closer and closer to this race. Just a 10 miler on Sunday (eeek!) and 4 miles on Tuesday and I'm done. I need to do laundry and think about packing this weekend. I leave on Thursday for my first ever trip to Disneyland! I will be proudly wearing my "First Visit" button!

Congrats Megan on your 1st trip to Disneyland! :thumbsup2 You are going to have such a wonderful time! My high school friend went to WDW with me for the 1st time this past March and she proudly wore her "First Visit" button too! It was great. She was telling everyone that it was her 1st visit....she was so excited!
Last weekend for training  ..... not that I've done too good at that this time. I was thinking that I would head out Saturday for a 10 miler but then I was worried that might be too much for someone who hasn't really trained. The most I've done is 8 miles. I need some advice from my fellow Incredibles that have done so awesome in their training....I'm just not sure what I should do :confused3 I've always trained exactly how my training schedule says and this is usually my taper weekend. What to do--:rolleyes1
I hope that everyone has an INCREDIBLE weekend!

Good morning INCREDIBLES!
Good luck to all our INCREDIBLES who are running the DL half soon! :cheer2:
Remember your teammates here and try and tell us how it is going! :flower3: Maybe a team picture at one of the meets? :cool2:
It's hard to believe that the Princess is 6 short months from today! princess: It will be here before we know it.
Sorry for the quick post but my Dis time is being consumed by the end of our summer Biggest Loser challenge and the start of the Fall challenge. I am extending a special invitation to all our INCREDIBLES who are interested to join us! It's a great group of people and a good way to add accountability and more support to your journey to good health! http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=37971045&postcount=1

You go girl!! :worship: I'm a "fair weather runner"! A drizzle doesn't bother me but I just can't get motivated to run in the rain. I wish I could get motivated to get out in the rain....it would be a lot easier to train in the winter! Good job on the 7 miler in the rain!

Hi team. I have a question for you all. I am looking into getting a nike+ sports band. I currently do not have the nike+ sneakers but I was going to get one of those little pouches that other companies make to put the sensor in to tie with your laces. I read on the nike website that if you do not put the sensor in the place it was made for in the nike shoes that it wont be as accurate. I am not sure if this is just being said since Nike Im sure wants people to spend more money on their shoes or if this is a real thing that occurs. Anyone have any experience or advice on this?

Hello Incredibles!!!
Whew, has it been busy here! We are getting ready to head to CA for the DL half. We have been shopping and packing, getting things buttoned up. Three more training runs and then its THE BIG DAY!!
I hope everyone else is doing well with training and the heat. We have had a great couple days of just perfect weather, heat is coming back this week while I am home with DD and her friend. Which is great, since we are going to the beach and other outdoor activities.
On a more serious note, there is a thread about WISH teams and not taking on new members or making more new teams. My suggestion was that if someone wanted to join a team they could go to the team thread and ask to join. As captain, I am always ready to welcome new friends who want to participate. I know many of us get busy (especially with school just about to start!) and don't get on here as often, but some folks have joined our team and we have never heard from them! I would rather give someone a chance to participate and be part of our INCREDIBLE gang than not. What does everyone else think? We are an amazing bunch I think and we have a lot of different levels of experience. We can help out newbies and can always use the advice of more experienced runners and walkers.
Ok, enough serious stuff for now. I am off to Marshalls for more shopping, DD needs a bathing suit, since she left her brand new one at sleepaway camp.

Happy Sunday to all! I hope everyone is doing FANTASTIC on this Sunday morning! I just told my DS that this time next week we will hopefully only be 30 minutes from crossing the finish line and getting that awesome medal :cool1: Hopefully it will be a cool morning next Sunday in LA like it is here this morning....I think it is about 52* this morning...perfect for a run! Still can't believe it is only 1 week until the DL 1/2....seems like I've been planning this forever!
Veronica....I agree with you about new members. I think allowing new members to pick a team they are interested in and then they go to that team and ask to join would be an easier process. And I agree with Lindsay....the more the merrier! I do personally have my weeks where I'm so busy that I don't get to sign on everyday so I would worry about new members signing on and I wouldn't catch that and be able to "welcome" the new member. And I agree with you Veronica about all the different levels of experience and how this has helped me and could be helpful to those looking to be a new member.
okay...I guess I better get off the computer and get something accomplished this morning. My DS just left for his 2 hour driving lesson....hope they make it back safely! Today they go on the freeway :scared1: He turned 16 a couple of weeks ago and hasn't been in a hurry to get his license...but I NEED him to get his license. Since my older DS is away at college now I'm having to do all the driving and it is really making it difficult with my work day! So keep your fingers crossed it all goes well this morning!

Veronica, I agree with Lindsay, the more the merrier. :cool1: Our team doesn't feel "crowded" to me at all. I will post on Maura's thread but I think it would be intimidating to have to ask to join an established team, especially if I had never ventured on a WISH board before. I love being on a team with runners at all levels of experience -- as a newbie that is really important to me.
Thank you for all you do for us as team captain! :flower3:

Just wondering if any of you ordered a "Wish" shirt from the sticky thread?? I ordered one for me and one for my DS but we don't have ours yet. I was hoping to have them before the DL 1/2 but I'm thinking that might not happen since we leave on Thursday :sad2: I'll have to come up with another bright & cheerful shirt to wear!
On a good note....DS & I went for a 4 mile run and his knees didn't hurt!!! He hasn't really been running but crossing training with all his waterpolo and I think the break from running helped with all the inflammation in his knees. Both of us have started wearing knee bands and for me it has made a HUGE difference in the soreness in my knees. So I'm feeling a bit better about the run next week....I don't think we are going to break any records but that is okay...it is his 1st half marathon so I just want him to finish....unhurt!

I believe there are 2 meets scheduled-one on Friday and one on Saturday. We get in on Friday around noon, and are meeting up with our friends sometime that afternoon. There is a thread about the meets here (http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2496574)
If other Incredibles want to meet up just us, I will PM my cell # to anyone who is interested.
I'd love to meet up with other WISH and Incredible members, but I'm not sure when we'll have a chance! We get in on Friday night, hopefully in time to check in before running to DCA to grab our picnic dinners w/ WOC fastpasses and get in line for the 8:00 show. We will be around the park for most of Saturday morning, but we're going to leave early afternoon to have a late lunch/early dinner with my parents and then our DDs will spend the night with them. Logistics are fun killers!!!
We'll be at a cabana at the GCH Mariposa pool on Sunday, so keep an eye out for two very tired parents with 2 very active DDs wanting to swim in the pool. Thank goodness my parents and brother will be hanging out, too!
Planning a 5 mile run tonight. I didn't get through Tuesday's because my plantar fasciitis was flaring and I decided rest was the better plan. Crossing my fingers tonight is better!
Smart to take a break rather than make it worse! I've had PF before and it is truly the pits.
It seems no matter how close I run to the edge of the paved trail I about get ran over....but I LOVE the bike trail along that area. It is so pretty it makes the runs bearable.
I know! They go crazy fast! I think they forget the 15mph speed limit. We did our "ten mile" run up on Miner's Ravine Trail in Roseville today. It was beautiful!!! I think Miner's Ravine is to American River Bike Trial as Disneyland is to Disney World. They are both beautiful and a great place to run and bike, but Miner's Ravine is smaller and more intimate. You're running next to a creek instead of a river, the bikers tend to go much more slowly, and you get much of the same scenery in a more compact area which seems to somenhow highlight all the beauty. We're just so close to the American River whereas we have to drive 30 minutes to get to Miner's Ravine.
I LOVE running in the rain. It was so much cooler too.
Me, too! I just need to remember to wear contacts when it's raining our or I'm always wishing for windshield wipers for my glasses.
Good luck to all our INCREDIBLES who are running the DL half soon! :cheer2:

Thanks, Lisa! I hope to join you for the fall challenge. I'm just trying to decide if I should join now with my current weight or wait until after I get back from the Half Marathon. The problem with the half is that I'll burn a bunch of calories, but eat them back in no time while at DLR. :sad2:

I ordered one for DH and myself, too, but I know that it's really unlikely we'll get it in time. I knew that going in to the ordering process, but couldn't help hoping. I do have a DIS green tech shirt that I wear when I run. I thought of looking around at Target or Walmart to see if I could find a lime green visor and write WISH across the brim, but I figure that's a long shot, too.
DH and I did our last long run before the Disneyland Half today. We've been doing Hal Higdon's Novice Half plan and today was supposed to be ten miles. Well, about 1 1/2 miles into our run, we ran into a small snafu. The bridge for the bike trail following the creek under the freeway is being repaired and there was a detour. We stopped briefly to see if we could figure out how much the detour would change our ten mile giant loop, but it was going to take too long, so we just went with it. When we finished, we thought we'd maybe gone about 10 1/2 miles and thought the pace was getting pretty close to sweep time. Now, we'd stopped a few times to figure out where we were and there were way more hills than we thought there would be (or that we're used to), but I was feeling a little glum about the time. But, when we got home we plugged in the route including the detour into Map My Run and it turns out we went 11.4 miles! So, our pace time was about 14:28 instead of the almost 16:00 I was worried about. Phew!!!

I've been trying to remember where I saw a Lime Green Visor at....it was either at Sports Authority in Folsom or the Fleet Feet in Fair Oaks. I had thought about buying it but decided to go with a black hat with a lime green nike swoop. I know one of these places had a lime green visor. Could probably call Fleet Feet and they could tell you.....since they are such a small store.

Wow, I have fallen behind in my forum reading! A friend turned me on to The Hunger Games series (an amazing young adult series) and I spent my weekend with my nose in a book. Well, while I wasn't at the gym or out running, that is!
In terms of joining - I'm a new member and I liked being assigned to a team because I'm shy and would feel weird about just jumping in. That said, you all were so awesome and after only a few weeks, I feel totally welcome.
This weekend was my last long run before Disneyland. It was a bust. I'd been feeling off all weekend and was starting to wonder if something was wrong with me. Weird stomach cramping, etc. Well, as I venture into TMI land, you ladies can all figure out where this is going. Yes, my monthly visitor showed up. Quite late, but that's normal for me. I was frustrated, but then glad - no worries about next weekend then. So I headed out for my run. Stupidly, I went out at 10:15 am. So it was hot and sunny. It was a terrible run. I drank a ton of water along the way, and wanted to give up after 3 miles. But I didn't. I power walked a lot of the end of the ten miles, but it was a good mental exercise, because even with all the power walking, etc, I still finished under a 14:00 pace. I could have power walked another 3.1 miles and made it to the race finish line within the time limit. Of course, the race course is way easier than my normal training course - I train in a super hilly area. And it won't be so hot. All in all, a good lesson.
(back to TMI land) And then I got home and discovered that all the running had shifted things around, and... well, let's say it's a good thing I wore the black shorts and not the light blue ones.
Other lesson learned? Don't forget the Body Glide. And diaper rash cream does wonders for chub rub.

And nicely done with your pace time even when you were feeling off! I'm feeling pretty confident of maintaining a mid-fourteen pace time. I'd love to speed up eventually, but I'll take my current pace for this race!

I must say that getting to run through Angel Stadium last year came in at a close 2nd to running through the castle! We actually ran along the warning track instead of the bases. We didn't get to run on the grass part of the field, but we came through the doors behind right field and ran on the dirt along the seats and exited Angel Stadium behind left field. The stands had boy scouts and girl scout troops in the seats and they were holding out their hands for high fives all along the way. I was in such awe I didn't notice until I was exiting that the runners were being projected on the big screen behind center field and I believe they were announcing where some of the runners were from.....It really was so cool! :cool1: In 2008...my 1st time running the DL 1/2 we were detoured around the outside of the stadium....I was soooo bummed so it was a nice surprise last year.
Megan....thanks for reminding me about the body glide!
I can't believe I only have 2 more work days this week and then we'll be at Disneyland...
