I recently joined DVC buying sight unseen at HH and a small add on at VB. I just couldn't resist the incentive at VB :).

Has anyone else done this or am I the only one. My husband thought I was crazy for wanting to do it but I feel very confident about the purchase--mostly because of this board.

We bought sight unseen (except the video that they sent) in 1999. I bet that many people have bought in sight unseen - just believing in the Disney name.
BTW, we have been to WDW 3 times in the last 15 months, so we have no regrets.

No way!! Not crazy at all!! Only because we trust the Disney name. With ANYTHING else, we never would have bought like this. We bought at VB and have only seens pics, videos and the comments from other DIS'ers.

I am sure I won't be disappointed.

My Father-in-law bought 150 pts. at VWL sight unseen based on our recommendation and the experience we had at BWV. He did look in our Guidebook, also on-line and at a lot of questions on this board. After talking with our MS rep he was sold. Also, he felt better about it knowing it was a Disney property and the standards that go with it. So no, you are not the only one. Have a Disney day :)

I know a lot of people that bought sight unseen.
For our family, my DH had to drag me kicking and screaming to take the tour, but when it was over I was ready to sign and he was the one who wanted to sleep on it.
That was the wonderful thing about our guide.
She didnt want to pressure us.

If you have been to disney at least once, you understand that quality is not an issue....we just bought in to VWL, and i could not even give you directions from the main gate...but I am sure it is beyond wonderful!!!

What is the current incentive at VB? Is it also $72 a point at this time?

We too bought sight unseen. Gotta trust that Disney will provide a good, safe, vacation.

I bought sight unseen, having never even stayed within a 50-mile radius of Disney World. I also added on before my first DVC trip. But I just returned from my first trip (stayed at OKW) and loved it all! I have never had second thoughts, and I don't expect I ever will!

We bought sight unseen 1 year ago. Had our first trip in December at VB and OKW. In January we used points to stay at the GC at DL. Our only regret - we didn't do it a whole lot sooner. Hope you are as happy as we have been!

We recently purchased at VWL sight unseen. My DW is going to St. Petersburg in May and is going to stop by for a tour. I told her to take a video camera so I'll know what to expect before our trip in October. Just like you, what made our decision easy was all the information from these boards. No regrets! Can't Wait!! :)

Last year we bought a resale (a plug for Jaki!) sight unseen at OKW. We had one trip the year before, staying at Dixie Landings in Nov. 1999. We came back with a bad case of pixie dust infection :D . I found out about DVC in early spring 2000 from reading posts on the DIS and Deb's WDWIG. We purchased 250 points at OKW in late summer, and didn't even get to see our resort till last November's trip.
Needless to say, we were very impressed ! It's one thing to read descriptions in the posts on the boards, but even better when you can see the reality. You have the comforts of home and the quality of Disney in one setting. My only regret - I wish I had bought more points !! ;) ;)

We were planning on buying BWV in Jan this year after we could look at them, but they were selling out and we had to buy them last year sight unseen. We are happy we did.

Two of our referrals bought sight unseen. One couple had been to WDW a couple of times and seen the DVC stands and asked us about it. They loved WDW already and we knew they would love being members. The other couple had never even been to WDW. We tried to talk them into waiting and buying during their first trip, but after seeing our pictures and getting the video they wanted to buy before their first trip. We were really nervous about their first trip. Unfornunately there are a few crazy people out there that hate WDW and we hoped that their first trip would be wonderful. We were thrilled when they came back with glowing reports on their trip and DVC.

Having stayed at WDW many times, we bought OKW (resale), sight unseen last October. We were at WDW (off-site) in November and had to take a peek at our "new Home". Our first DVC trip is at BWV in July (my DD's b-day) and can't wait to stay at OKW sooooooon........

We believe in the Disney name!!

We bought sight unseen in 1995. We saw the video and had seen the DVC kiosks during our 1993 stay at Dixie Landings, but we didn't take the time to do the tour. Perhaps we would have joined in 1993 if we had (although we really couldn't afford to join until 1995). I have recounted several times on DIS how my wife broke down and cried tears of joy when we first walked into our 2BR home-away-from-home at Old Key West Resort. She was overwhelmed with how nice it was. She keeps telling everyone that OKW is nicer than our own home! Becoming DVC members was one of the best things that our family has done.

I bought 230 points on resale at OKW. I didn't even know where it is. I had to look it up. But I don't plan on staying there either. I will use my points to stay at monorail hotels so I was just looking for the best deal.

We called and got the video, Talked to the guide over the phone and bought 320 points. That was in 1996 and not only are we very happy, but we did an add on.

BWV right before the price increase. Didn't think twice because of Disney reputation.
