View Full Version : Memorial Day OR Labor Day for Solo Trip?

I have been contemplating a solo trip for a few years now, and I think 2011 is the year. So now I just have to decide on dates.

The 2 times are either the Thursday-Monday of Memorial Day Weekend OR the Thursday-Monday of 4th of July weekend. I chose these two because of having that Monday off from work, and then I would only have to take 2 days of vacation from work. Also, I figured 4 nights would be the perfect amount of time for a solo voyage.

So my question is: what time is better? I know (or assume) they are both going to be busy times since they are holidays, but since I am going by myself it'll be a leisurely trip and so I just won't fight the crowds - if the parks get crowded, I'll go back to the hotel and swim, DTD, explore the other resorts, etc.

Any opinions on one being better than another? Or is it just a personal preference thing? TIA! :thumbsup2

Memorial Day time frame will be more comfortable weather wise than Labor Day. Even 10 degrees cooler makes a big difference if Fl. humidity and it will more likely be 15-20 degrees cooler.

Memorial Day would be the coolest and a 50/50 chance that the summer humidity has not yet kicked in.

Labor Day is the worst choice because it's at the peak of the hurricane season so there is always that risk that one is lurking out there.

Memorial Day for the reasons others have stated--not as hot and humid. I'll never go back in September.
