FISH EXTENDER EXCHANGE SIGN-UP
Debbie (Luckymomoftwo) has volunteered to keep track of the people who would like to participate in the fish extender exchange list. Debbie will keep the list and send it out to everyone via email as new people join. Deadline for signing up was JULY 17, 2010. The deadline is set so those who are making homemade gifts will know how many to make it & those ordering gifts will know how many to order.
If you would like to start a second FE group for those who wish to sign up after the deadline and spearhead the second group, then let me know.
Participating in the Fish Extender Exchange is completely optional. Feel free to do or spend whatever you're comfortable with. As for the Fish Extender itself, some people buy them, others want to make theirs, whatever you choose is fine. The same rule applies to the "goodies"! You can buy or make them!
What is a fish extender exchange?

DIS MEET
DIS Meet - Sailing Day:
Onboard the Wonder Sunday, September 12th @ 3pm
Promenade Lounge
http://monorailgreen.info/member2009/index.1.jpg
The Elizabeth Swan & Pirate Game
On the 2008 Member cruise thread Gary (OKWMember) came up with the pirate game where each 100th post got a pirate (pirate:). To add more fun, each 99th post got an Elizabeth Swan (:bride:). This game was played in the 2009 Member Cruise thread and was so much fun. It really got people chatting. When will you get an :bride: or a pirate:?
Every 99th post = 1 ES (:bride:)
Every 499th post = 2 ES
Every 999th post = 3 ES
Every 100th post = 1 Pirate (pirate:)
Every 500th post = 2 Pirates
Every 1000th post = 3 Pirates
We'll have a prize for the DISer with the most pirates and the most swans at the onboard DIS meet.
PORT CAMERAS
Some people like to view the Disney ships leave port. As the time was getting closer to our sail away date last year, some posters in the '09 thread would log on every Sunday to watch the Disney Wonder sail away. So, if anyone is interested in watching the Wonder or Magic sail away, here are the port cameras:

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Passports - do I need one?
Having a passport is ideal. However, a birth certificate with a valid photo ID will be permissible.
From DCL website:
Passport Information
Guests are responsible for obtaining proper documentation to board the ship. U.S. Government passport requirements continue to change; therefore, we strongly encourage Guests of all ages to have a valid U.S. passport for all cruises. Having a passport allows you to always be prepared to travel wherever you wish, and offers an added measure of security when you're traveling.
For air travel, however, the deadline was January 23, 2007. This means that all travelers, including U.S. Citizens and all foreign nationals, traveling to the United States by air, such as Guests flying to Orlando, Florida from Canada, are required to carry a valid passport after the effective date.
From Dept. of Homeland Security website (thanks eronim (Michael)):
How will the final WHTI requirements affect passengers going on cruises?
U.S. citizens on closed-loop cruises (cruises that begin and end at the same port in the U.S.) will be able to enter or depart the country with proof of citizenship, such as a birth certificate and government-issued photo ID. A U.S. citizen under the age of 16 will be able to present either an original or a copy of his or her birth certificate, a Consular Report of Birth Abroad issued by DOS, or a Certificate of Naturalization issued by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services.
Please be aware that you may still be required to present a passport when you dock at a foreign port, depending on the islands or countries that your cruise ship is visiting. Check with your cruiseline to ensure you have the appropriate documents for the stops you’ll be making on your cruise.
What have other members cruises been like?
The organizers (WDWLVR & MarkRG) of our 2009 members cruise thread developed a website specifically for the cruise. Now, I am not that talented. However, for reference I will list it here. It also has trip reports from 2003, 2005, 2006, & 2007 member cruises as well as tips for cruisers.
2009 Members Cruise website (http://monorailgreen.info/member2009/index.htm)
When can I book excursions, reservations at Palo, and/or register the kids for the kids' clubs?
120 days before the sail date if you are a Platinum Castaway Club Member (sailed with DCL 10 or more times) (May 15, 2010 for us)
105 days before the sail date if you are a Gold Castaway Club Member (sailed with DCL 5 or more times) (May 30, 2010 for us)
90 days before the sail date if you are a Silver Castaway Club Member (sailed with DCL once before) (June 14, 2010 for us)
75 days before the sail date for everyone (June 29, 2010 for us)
When is Pirate Night?
Pirate night is on your Castaway Cay day on all DCL cruises. On the member cruise it will be on the first Castaway Cay day. On pirate night, the characters will be dressed in pirate outfits, there is the Pirates IN the Caribbean Party on decks 9/10 that night at 10pm. There will be fireworks at sea as part of the deck party. Many passengers dress in pirate outfits.
Whatever else you want me to add to this first post last me know. I plan on keeping it updated. For example, if people are staying at a resort before and/or after the cruise, I can post it here. If people are interested in linked dining someone can spearhead that and I will post the names of those interested here. I can also post stateroom assignments. As I said, this thread is what you make it. Let the ideas flow. Let the chatting begin.

ACTIVITIES ONBOARD
1. Go to at least one program/activity a day. The cruise staff is great, and you get to meet people other than the ones you see at meals.
2. Play bingo. It's a blast. WARNING - BINGO IS HIGHLY ADDICTIVE, but FUN, FUN, FUN!! WARNING – IT IS EXPENSIVE, but FUN, FUN, Fun!!!!
3. Walk off that extra dessert on deck 4. If you are a walker or jogger you'll be happy to know you can do so on deck 4. This promenade deck goes all the way around. Four (4) laps equals a mile.
4. Rather do your walking on a treadmill? Then head up to the spa. The gym portion is free and open to all adults. Added bonus here. While you are on the treadmill you can look down on the bridge!
BEFORE YOUR CRUISE
1. Join your cruise meet thread & participate. That way you get to know some of the people with whom you are cruising. It makes the cruise so much fun.
2. If you don't already have it, order the cruise DVD from reservations - then plays it for you kids often! They will be more comfortable with what to expect and it "extends" your vacation by thinking about the fun before you even get there!
3. Arrange to have your mail held and stop your newspaper delivery.
4. DO your cruise documents online, PRINT THEM OUT AND BRING THEM WITH YOU!
5. If you're doing Disney excursions sign up online before your cruise OR
6. Check out the shore excursion info on the DCL website and then contact the vendors directly. You can sometimes save a bundle on the very same event. When one DISer went on the Mexican Rivera cruise the Dolphin encounter with all the bells and whistles booked through the ship would have been $300+, but when the place was contacted directly the same excursion including the DVD was $75+/-. You will have to make your own transportation arrangements there and back and won't get the lunch if it is included in the DCL package but the savings more than offsets that.
7. Use a label maker to tag everything that might leave the room. One DISer got his/her disposable camera back this way. Make and bring extra labels in case you forget something.
8. Turn off the water to your house. If your water heater decides to go while you are gone, or the water line to the fridge goes, or a hose on the washer goes, etc. you will not have a mess when you come home.
9. Put contact info on your memory cards for your camera or on tape media if using a camcorder. If you drop them you might be able to get them back.
10. Take advantage of the ability to send a box to the ship ahead of time - a great way to get FE gifts or pirate gear on board without giving up valuable luggage space. In the box, include what you want to ship and a packing list detailing the contents of the box. Address your package(s) to:
Disney Cruise Line Warehouse
Guest Name / Stateroom # (GTY, if you don't know what it is when you send the package)
8633 Transport Drive
Orlando, FL 32832
Phone: 407-566-8196
11. Type up address labels to apply to postcards. That way you and your family have the addresses at hand and you just peel and stick onto the postcard, write your private message and then send. Also, at the end of the cruise you will get color coded luggage tags to put on your luggage. Information needed is: (1) Number of pieces of luggage (1 of 3, 2 of 3, 3 of 3), (2) Stateroom number, (3) Name, (4) address (including city, state and zip code). Make those up in advance on your address labels. Then when you have to pack it will make it a little quicker. Plus by being printed it is easier for the porters who unload the ship to help keep your pieces together. Tag measures approximately 4 inches wide by 2.5 inches tall to help you figure out which size label to use. Or, use the freebie address labels that you get in the mail. My luggage tags were oval shaped.
BOARDING DAY
1. Arrive early on Day 1 of Cruise to have more time on the ship and to eat lunch. The port opens at 10:00 a.m. & boarding starts around noon. Characters come out to greet guests in the terminal. So, have your camera ready or just let the Shutters’ photographer take the picture. You can also give your camera to a CM to take the picture.
2. Check EVERYTHING (except for your meds, valuables, camera, etc.), eat, tour the ship, and then go to your room.
3. Either wear your swimsuits under your clothes when boarding, or bring them in a day bag (there are several restrooms near the pools where you can change). One of the best times for a not so crowded swim is in the period of time between embarkation and the safety drill.
4. Lunch is served at both BBB (outside) and Parrot Cay (where it's easier to leave luggage since a server will assign you a table). Both serve the same thing so you just have to decide whether you want to eat outside or inside.
5. Not real hungry or have kids that want to head right to the pools, then head up to deck 9, grab a table and chairs by the pool, grab burgers, hot dogs, and chicken fingers at Pluto’s, and let the kids swim. Also, one person in your party can go through the buffet and bring back food to the table.
6. Attend your DIS meet to get to meet the people you were chatting with for so long.
CAMERAS
1. Take lots of pictures! Take pictures of everything, if you don't you might regret not having a photo of something.
2. The best time to find characters is during the sail-away celebration.
3. Take all the memory cards you own. Once you've finished one, put it in a separate place from your camera so if you lose one, you don't lose both.
4. Bring two waterproof cameras with you if you are planning on doing something like parasailing or jet skiing. That way you can get two different perspectives. For example one person can take one camera up with them if they are parasailing and give the other to someone in the boat. That person can take pictures of you going up and coming down and you can take pictures while you are up in the sky. Also, they are good to use at Castaway Cay while just sitting/playing in the water.
5. Give your kids their own disposable camera, and another disposable waterproof camera. Let them take a picture of whatever they want. But once they use it up they are done. You will get some great candid shots.
CARRYON CONTENTS
1. Don't bring on so many carry-ons when boarding. The will get in the way and are not-so-fun to carry around until your rooms opens up around 1:30PM.
2. Your carryon bag should include all prescription medications; travel documents including your trip insurance, if they are not in your wallet or purse; sunscreen; sunglasses; bottled beverage(s) of choice (ahem!); camera, batteries, memory cards, etc. and charger; cell phone charger; and a couple of postcards that you can start writing while you wait to get into your stateroom.
3. Bring a luggage carrier or something w/wheels for the soft pack cooler since you can carry on beer and wine.
4. Bring your own beverages and mixers and cups w/ lids to mix the drinks.
5. Bring an extra carryon filled with bottles of water. You can buy less expensive bottled water at home and, as you drink the water, you are emptying the suitcase for souvenirs to bring home.
CASTAWAY CAY
1. The post office sometimes runs out of post cards. Buy your Castaway Cay Postcards at Mickey’s Mates, and fill them out prior to leaving the ship for Castaway Cay, drop them off at post office first thing, you'll save time. If the Post Office is not open, leave your post cards at guest services & ask if a CM will mail them next time the ship docks at CC. You'll need some cash for postage, so don't forget small change.
2. At Cookies BBQ, the line right in front is sometimes long (facing beach) go around the right side, and you'll find another serving station that is usually empty.
3. There is a fruit stand on the other side of Cookies, closer to the ship.
4. You can have your purchases sent to your stateroom from the shop on CC.
5. Bring a beach bag or something to lug stuff out to Castaway Cay and use on other excursions.
6. Snorkel early at CC - the bottom gets stirred up bad and visibility becomes very limited.
7. For those with kids or those who are kids at heart, bring your own sand toys for Castaway Cay.
8. There are free wagons at CC. This is very helpful for toting all your bags or little one.
9. Use baby powder to sprinkle on sandy feet, wait a second and the sand just brushes away with a towel.
10. Don’t forget to put on Safe Sea which stops jellyfish and sea lice stings.
DINNER
1. Though some people say arrive 5-10 minutes after your scheduled seating time, this can be very inconsiderate to your tablemates and servers as they try to serve everyone at the same time.
2. Tell your server that you want the kids served first and they will get them out very quickly, then one parent can drop them off at the club or the lab and be back before the main course is served. Most of the waiters watch and know not to bring your food when you are delivering you kids to the club. This allows you to enjoy time with the kids and still have a leisurely dinner to yourselves.
3. If you are full at dinner, ask for your waiter to pack up dessert to go.
4. You may order anything you want off the menus. Your servers will be happy to mix and match menu items, even combining veggies from one entree with main course from others. You can also get multiples (more than one appetizer, main course, dessert, etc. so you can sample more things). If you like one of the sides on the entrees, but it’s not with the entre you are ordering, request that side and your server will bring a small dish of it out to you. Bring an appetite but try not to be wasteful.
5. If you do not want to get dressed up for your normal dinner seating – you can go to Topsider's or Beach Blanket for a more relaxed meal. This is offered each night except the first and last of the cruise.
6. Talk to your servers, they are really interesting people and come from all over the world. Also, let them know right off the bat if there are things you absolutely do not like. They will tailor their recommendations to your likes.
7. If you have something at a meal that you particularly like, ask for the recipe, your Head Server can usually get it for you.
8. If you speak with your head waiter you can preorder any dish from any of the menus and they will prepare it special for you. It must be done the night before, same thing if you have allergies and need to modify the way they prepare the dishes.
9. You can (try) to request a specific restaurant outside of your dining rotation and they will accommodate you if they have room (according to Mousesavers).
10. You can order off both the adult’s & kid’s menus.
11. Don't hesitate to ask your server for a Mickey Bar for dessert (off the kid's menu). They will be happy to deliver it to you. It comes in a bowl, covered with sprinkles!
12. Call DCL ahead of time to note any food allergies and/or medical conditions (e.g., diabetes) that you or your family members may have.
DISEMBARKING
1. The instructions on disembarking will be broadcasted continually on the stateroom televisions on the last full day.
2. Your luggage needs to be outside of your door by 11 pm with the character tags on it that they will give you on that last day (BTW, big tip....take address labels with your name/address on them and then all you'll have to do is fill in stateroom number and your number of bags--i.e. 1 out of 3, 2 out of 3). As you disembark the ship you'll be directed to the luggage holding room where it will all be categorized based on who was on your character tag (Donald, Mickey, Daisy, Tinkerbell, etc) so remember your character.
3. Do not wait until the last night to pack. Use a collapsible hamper and store it under the desk for laundry during the cruise. Empty it periodically into a large laundry bag and put that into one of the pieces of luggage that are stored under the bed.
4. On the morning of the last full day, pack all of the remaining clothes EXCEPT an outfit to wear off the ship the next morning which you can wear after the final show if you want to spend the evening walking around the ship, visiting friends, and/or going to the ‘Til We Meet Again show, one outfit for each of you with shoes to wear to dinner, PJs for the last night, and a swim suit to use at Castaway Cay. After coming back from Castaway Cay rinse the suits and pack them in a couple of 2 gallon ziploc bags and put them in the front pocket of one of the big suitcases. After the show come back to the room and change into the outfits you will wear off the ship and pack up your dinner clothes and shoes in that last bag and put all your suitcases in the hall. In the morning all you have left to do is pack a carryon with the last of the stuff in the bathroom.
5. Make sure you leave a set of clothes out for debarking. People have been known to pack EVERYTHING the night before and leave the ship in their nightgowns, pajamas, etc.
6. If you have early dining, then you will be assigned the early breakfast time (6:30 a.m. I believe). If you do not want to go to breakfast that early, you can go to the buffet and eat there or in the morning bring some pastries and fresh fruit back to the room for breakfast, and then disembark.
7. Do not disembark early - that is for people who are rushing to catch a plane or other transportation or rushing to get to the parks. If you have nothing to rush to, be the last ones off the ship! Do not go to breakfast in the restaurant - go to the buffet, pick up a tray and fill it for everyone in your cabin. Back at the cabin, take your time, have a nice shower, breakfast on the verandah in port - relax - the cruise is not over yet! When you are ready, you can walk off the boat; no crowds easily find your luggage and cruise through customs. You have to be off the ship by 9:00 a.m.
8. Luggage at disembarkation is located in room order. Porters are there to assist them. Use them.
9. Use the address labels you made before you left to place on the luggage tags.
10. Once you & your family leave the stateroom, you will not be able to go back into the stateroom.
EXTRA THINGS TO PACK TO USE IN YOUR ROOM
1. Roll of bubble wrap for anything you buy that's breakable.
2. When traveling with little ones (toddlers) take along a bath mat for the shower/tub and baby bath bubbles to use to get the sunscreen off of them. Don't forget a little bath toy. The bath mat rolls up easy and/or just lays flat in luggage.
3. Over the door shoe holders. Take two for the split bath, one for toiletries and the other for the shoes. Buy the cheap ones and leave them t here.
4. Air freshener (for the bathroom) and dryer sheets (for the clothing storage areas) to keep everything smelling fresh. Rather than just air freshener for the bathroom, pack a small can of Lysol, does double duty as an air freshener and surface sanitizer. The Glade Flameless candle can also be used.
5. Extension cord for iPod, hair dryer, cameras, travel clock, etc. Easy to plug things in overnight and take them for the next day.
6. Different color highlighters to mark navigators.
7. Post its and pens for the room. Great to leave notes for the family who “cross like ships in the night” or even for your cabin steward.
8. Bring a well lit digital clock/travel clock if you like to see what time it is in middle of night, attach to extension cord. For most standard staterooms a good place to keep the clock is on top of the storage trunk.
9. Bring hand sanitizer and/or liquid hand soap. Frequent hand washing is the best defense against getting sick on a cruise or period. Also bring Lysol wipes and wipe down the telephone as well as TV remote.
10. Little bathroom cups for rinsing your mouth after brushing your teeth.
11. Dish soap to wash items in the sink and hang to dry or to wash snorkel gear in the bathtub.
12. Clothes pins for hanging up wet suits in the shower and to close curtains to keep that morning sun out of your room!
13. Bring 2 bungee cords (one for each door) if you have connecting rooms to keep the doors open. They are heavy doors and will not stay open by themselves. If closed, you cannot open them from the other stateroom.
14. Little flash lights and pass them out to your family. Also keep 1 in the bath room. Flashlights that only work while you are holding down the button. This solves the problem of the little angels falling asleep with the security flashlight on and going through a set of batteries every other night! Or, keep the light on in the bathroom and shut the door, light comes from underneath and works fine.
15. Nightlight for bathroom.
16. Your own hairdryer. The ones in the cabins are weak.
17. 3M command hooks are great for hanging hats & jackets/sweaters.
18. Mesh laundry bags – one for colored clothes and one for white clothes.
19. Wire hangers to hang your clothes. The wooden ones take up a lot of room if you have a lot of hanging clothes and 4 persons in your cabin OR leave the hangers at home and ask your stateroom attendant for more.
20. Extra batteries for any battery operated items, i.e. cameras, flashlight, I-Pods, travel clock, etc.
21. Crayons, books and plain paper for kids during the down time (is there such a thing on DCL) in the room --- have them make a "picture" scrapbook for when they get back home!
22. Assorted sizes of zip bags! They are life savers! You can keep books, camera, etc. in them, especially when you go to CC. You can use sandwich zip bags to put cereal in for snacks (if the ship is using dispensers for cereal).
23. Lanyards for your KTTWs.
24. Two-way radios.
25. Soft sided cooler to bring off the ship for excursions and beaches.
26. Buttonhole extenders (in case you eat too much ;-))
27. Bring (especially if you have a verandah) a small pair of binoculars. It's great for looking at passing islands, dolphins, etc. Be sure that the kids keep the cord around their necks when they're using them so they don't drop them overboard.
28. Windex wipes to clean your glass on your veranda - the salt spray accumulates and obstructs the view (the 1/4" glass is clear).
29. Several large-mouth plastic bottles (that will fit into your collapsible cooler) for excursions, or for keeping drinks & water in your stateroom beverage cooler. Keep them full of ice/water from the drink station and make your own ice tea, lemonade, Crystal Lite, etc.
30. Baby powder - sprinkle it on sandy feet, wait a second and the sand just brushes away with a towel.
31. If you can, either pack or send beforehand sand toys. The ones to purchase there can be expensive.
32. A portable hard drive if you don't want to bring your laptop and use it to download your pictures to each day using the shipboard computers.
33. If you are traveling with a baby, bring a couple of extra "binkies" or pacifier's of the type and brand your child likes. A lost binky can make a good day go bad really quick...
34. Get individually wrapped hand sanitizer sheets - they can clean almost anything. You can get them at most warehouse stores. You can also go to Smart and Final (or your local equivalent) and get individually wrapped moist towelettes, super handy and they pack small.
35. "Off" brand bug repellant makes towelettes which also come in handy if you are going somewhere where bugs are abundant.
36. Check your local dollar store for book lights. They pack really small and come in really handy.
37. Safety pins can come in super handy and also a needle and clear thread in case you need to make a quick repair on anything (like replacing a button or repairing a strap on your evening gown).
38. Small strips of Velcro - used this to keep our closet doors from sliding open and slamming shut with the movement of the ship.
39. Hydrocortisone for any rashes (e.g., rash from sand fleas) and Vitamin E cream for sunburn.
40. Don't forget the duct tape.
41. A pitcher with water filter instead of buying or bringing water on board.
FOOD & DRINK RELATED
1. Notify DCL ahead of time regarding allergies or special dietary concerns.
2. Sodas/beverages are free at:
The 24-hour drink station (self-serve)
When ordered at any of the sit-down restaurants (breakfast, lunch, and dinner)
The buffets (breakfast, lunch, and dinner)
Any of the self-serve drink stations on Castaway Cay
Sodas/beverages are not free:
When ordered at any of the bars (onboard and at Castaway Cay)
When ordered from a roaming server (by the pools, at Castaway Cay, in the Walt Disney Theatre, in the adult nightclubs)
When ordered from Room Service (except for coffee, milk, chocolate milk, & OJ)
When purchased by the theaters
When purchased as part of a Cooler pack from a cast member
When purchased as a case of water from a cast member
3. The beverage station located aft on deck nine that includes milk, tea, coffee, water, juice and or lemonade.
4. You can make ice cream sodas and/or milkshakes on your own at the beverage station and Goofy's Galley - Coke floats using vanilla ice cream from Scoops and Coke from the 24-hour drink station or Banana splits using bananas from Goofy's Galley, vanilla & chocolate ice cream from Scoops, and chocolate & caramel toppings from Scoops.
5. Pack ice cream cones and/or sundae toppings (nuts, marshmallows, sprinkles/jimmies, chocolate, etc.) for Goofy's Galley.
6. Take big gulp sized mugs for the beverage station to cut out the amount of refills you need to run up for. Use the cups provided by DCL to refill your large cup to prevent contamination.
7. Bring a cup carrier (like from McDonalds etc.) to carry your fountain drinks back to your room.
8. Bring several large-mouth plastic bottles (that will fit into your collapsible cooler) for excursions, or for keeping drinks & water in your stateroom beverage cooler. You can also fill these easily with Ice, water, etc. from the drink station on Deck 9.
9. If you buy the refillable beer mug bring it back to the next cruise and save yourself the cost of the mug again. Just pack it in your suitcase. DCL policy states you have to buy a new one each cruise.
10. You can request a cork screw and wine glasses from your stateroom host/hostess.
11. The Cove Cafe Fanatic "frequent user" cards are buy 5 coffee drinks, get one free. You can use them on multiple cruises to save up the "stamps" (the CM just marks it with a pen) until you get to 5. It's just a small business card sized card, which can be slipped into your lanyard pouch behind your KTTW card so it was always with you. You can probably also combine them, like a couple could just use one card to get coffee drinks and pass it back and forth. All alcoholic drinks, non-alcoholic drinks, and gourmet coffees are available for an additional charge. Guests who purchase a specialty coffee mug – available in Cove Café and other shops onboard – are entitled to a complimentary coffee in Cove Café. Snacks are complimentary. Cove Café is for adults only (18 & up).
12. Though the drinks in the Cove Café are not free, the snacks in the Cove Café are free.
13. Bring back some fruit from the breakfast buffet and boxes of cereal to snack on. Fruit is available at Goofy's Galley throughout the day.
14. Skip the lunch buffet at least once and eat at Tritons/Lumiere's.
15. In the buffet there is a 'hidden' stairwell on both sides, right past the cereal(breakfast)/dessert(lunch) bars, a lot of mornings one of us will go load up a tray and use them to bring it back down to the cabin, it's always empty vs the main stairs or the elevators. You'll quickly get familiar with the route if you're aft as it's also mostly the path for the safety drill.
16. If you are celebrating something and forgot to make note of it when you made your reservation, be sure to tell your head server as much in advance as you can. It is amazing what they can make happen for you!
17. Not sure if you want to eat breakfast or lunch at Triton's or up at Beach Blanket? Here's a tip. They post the menu for Triton's near the back entrance (the hallway right near the Promenade lounge). Stop by there and see if there is something on the menu you'd love. If not head on up to the buffet on deck 9.
FISH EXTENDER
1. Personalize your fish extender so there will be less chance for it to “float away.”
2. Secure your fish extender with a cable tie to the fish outside your stateroom door.
3. Put labels on the back saying "Stolen from the XXXX Family"
KIDS
1. Register your kids online for the clubs & book online for the nursery.
2. Talk to your kids about the clubs ahead of time. Let them look at some navigators that others have posted. If available, have them watch the DCL videos that are out there.
3. Show your kids the clubs and nursery on embarkation day so they can become acquainted with the room.
4. Make sure you have the CM test the pager before you leave the club.
5. Bring books and plain paper for kids during the down time in the room. Have them make a picture for the scrapbook when they get back home. Crayons are provided for the children at the table.
7. The counselors in the children’s programming are not tipped positions, but appreciate a small gift (candy is a popular gift).
8. Let your kids involved in the kids program right away. The sooner they meet kids the easier it is to make friends. Once the friends “pair up” it is more difficult to break in.
9. If your child is in Scuttle Cove remember to return every couple of hours to reapply sunscreen as the CMs are not allowed to apply it.
10. Give your kids a spending limit and then let them spend it as they wish. You may not think that a rubber snake is a great remembrance, but tell that to a six year old :-). This is a great use of your free shipboard credit (and it can be split amongst KTTW cards by the ship).
11. You can note on your reservation or ask your stateroom host for a diaper genie and/or a pack ‘n play.
12. Pack a bath mat for the bath tub so your little one won’t slip during bath time.
13. Make a “dining bag” for each night of the cruise with disposable spoon or form, disposable bib, disposable placemats (if you want), and wipes. Doing this you can just grab the bag and go if you are running late.
14. You can take your baby to the kids’ club and have them play there as long as you stay with your baby.
LUGGAGE/PACKING (Besides your, passport &/or birth certificate, picture ID, clothes, underwear, & swimsuit)
1. Pack half the clothes and twice the cash.
2. Roll you clothes. You can fit more in the suitcase if you do this.
3. An empty duffle bag exclusively for souvenirs and gifts (member cruise) and/or dirty laundry. Invariably, you wind up going home with way more stuff than you came with.
4. 2.5 gallon zip bags makes packing and travel much easier. Put socks, underwear, and a complete kid’s outfit in individual Ziploc bags. Then roll it to get the air out or compress it somehow. If your bags are searched at the airport, your clothes will not get touched and/or it’s much easier to stay organized especially with a full stateroom. If kids can dress themselves, then they will know to just grab a bag and everything they need will be in that bag.
5. Instead of packing the normal sized toothpaste, shaving cream, deodorants and stuff, buy the sample sized ones and leave them behind when you come home. They are almost used up anyway.
6. Pack your clothes that you don't want to iron on hangers and in dry cleaning bags for your suit bag - you won't have nearly as many wrinkles (your drycleaner will give you extra bags if you ask for them).
7. Pack one suitcase full of stuff, and then put that suitcase inside another one. Then when you get where you're going, you've got an extra, empty suitcase for all the stuff you know you're going to buy!
8. In case of lost luggage, make sure that each person has some full outfits in each suitcase.
9. To cut down on clothing, bring a nice pair of black slacks. They go with just about everything, and just change tops each night. Plus you only need one pair of nice black dress shoes to go with them.
10. If and ONLY IF the weather is not too hot and not too humid the nights you wear a polo to dinner, the next day you can wear the same shirt (if you didn't get it to pitted/stinky partying the night before). You should be able to pack 3 or 4 less shirts (therefore less stuff in the suitcase).
11. Save your old socks, underwear, swimsuits, etc and have them make a one way trip with you. By tossing out old clothes you'll have LOTS of room for souvenirs et al when you pack to come home.
MAGNETS
1. Visit the creative DISigns board or cruise magnets thread to request magnet designs.
2. Use magnets to help identify your door.
3. Personalize your magnets so they will not “float away.”
4. Put labels on the back saying "Stolen from the XXXX Family" or “This magnet belongs to room # xxxx.”
5. Magnets that have name and room number on them are less likely to disappear.
MEDICAL SUPPLIES
1. "Keep cool" or "migraine ice" adhesive strips-slap one on the back of your neck and lower your body temp immediately.
2. Ask your pharmacist for the smallest bottles available with your prescription labels on them (can pack just enough for the trip and don't have to schlep around the larger bottles/worry about having prescription meds without the prescription verification).
3. Vinegar can be applied to jelly fish stings. Vinegar is available from room service!! Vinegar can also be used for sunburns. Soak a wash cloth in it and apply to the burn.
4. Bring Sea-Bands for motion sickness. Ginger Root is also great for motion sickness. You can go to herbsforkids on the net to get it in liquid form for the kiddies.
5. Papaya Enzyme chewable tablets, helps digest food in case you eat something that doesn't agree with you.
6. Correctol, gentle laxative, for men or women. Nothing worse than have that bloated feeling while on a cruise.
7. If the ship stores are closed and you need a toiletry item of some kind you can ask at guest services. They have aspirin, feminine products, and seasick meds.
MONEY
1. Bring SMALL bills for porters, Castaway Cay postage, Room Service tips, etc.
2. If you are driving to Port Canaveral from WDW don’t forget change for the tolls. If you are driving to Port Canaveral from WDW don’t forget change for the tolls. Depending on the route you take, you will need between $2.50 to $3.50 depending on the route you take.

ROOM SERVICE
1. Some suitcases don't slide under the bed BUT if you lift up the bed frame they fit under perfectly!!!
2. Store all life vests under bed to give more shelf space. Hopefully, you will not need them!
3. The coffee table raises up to make it easier to sit on couch and eat.
4. To give you some extra space, ask your stateroom host to remove the table from your stateroom.
5. There is a "beverage cooler" in your stateroom. By placing a cup of ice in it, it will stay very cold. If you require a refrigerator for medication, baby formula, etc. you can obtain one by having the medical form completed, signed by your doc, and faxed to the number on the form. The form can be found on the DCL web site.
6. Feather Pillow - ask your stateroom attendant if you want one.
7. Ask your staterrom host for mattress liners in case of middle of the night accidents from over-tired, over-excited little cruisers.
8. Glow sticks/glow necklaces are FANTASTIC for anyone staying in inside rooms. Hang them over the bathroom door/stateroom door and other various places. You would be surprised how much light they actually give off. Just the cheap ones from the dollar store, buy like 4-5 packs, and they'll last you for at the least a 5 day cruise!
9. Even if you have an inside cabin you can have a view from the bridge! Your television has 3 channels dedicated to the cruise itself. One shows a camera facing forward just as if you were looking off the bridge. Another will show time, temperature, distance traveled etc. A third will show information you need to know.
10. Bring 2 bungee cords if you have connecting rooms to keep the doors open. They are heavy doors and will not stay open by themselves. If closed you cannot open them from the other stateroom. The cords worked great! You need one for each door.
11. If you have connecting rooms ask your stateroom host for the small blocks of wood they use to keep the doors open. The block goes in the upper part of the door by the closer and keeps it open. Easy to remove if you want to close them at night.
12. Bring an over the door shoe hanger which you can use for shoes, but also for the little things you need like suntan lotion, sunglasses, etc. The kids can have their own pocket. Use a sharpie to write their name on it so they know which pocket is theirs. Or, bring door hooks for the bathroom. The door hooks are great for hanging your toiletry bags, clothes, jewelry, anything really. Take two for the split bath, one for toiletries and the other for shoes. Buy the cheap ones and leave them there. Both free up some counter space.
13. Bring a canvas sweater type closet organizer saved one DISer’s cabinet from being a total mess since there is very little shelf/drawer space.
14. Bring a travel fan for white noise.
15. Bring a zip tie to keep your fish extender from floating away. Or, personalize it. Zip ties can also be used to “lock” your luggage.
16. Bring Post-It notes, dry erase boards, and pens to communicate with other members of your travelling party. Stick a Post-It note on the inside of the connecting door so when your friends in the adjoining cabin open their door they can see it. Also, great to leave notes for family who "Cross like ships in the night" or even your cabin steward.
17. Bring Windex wipes to clean your glass on your veranda - the salt spray accumulates and obstructs the view (the 1/4" glass is clear).
18. If you need to use a curling iron or blow dryer you might want to bring an extension cord as the outlets are not in the best place on the desk for using one.
19. If you want a little privacy from the kids bring a few clothes pins to keep the privacy curtain closed.
20. If you get a sewer smell in your bathroom it is easy to cure yourself by pouring a cup or two of water down the drain behind the toilet (we've never experienced it but have read about the smell on the DIS). OR A little travel tip:
This works for more than just DCL bathrooms too - have used it in hotels and on trains and even on airplanes (longer flights)
If you're not the sort to remember to bring spray with you, next time you stop in a hotel (or the night before if you're getting in ahead of time) take one of the "coffee pods" that are found in most hotel rooms and stick it in a pocket of your suitcase. Since they are kept in foil covers, it will stay fresh until you use it. Since they are from hotels, they are usually 'sealed' pods - doesn't make a difference if it's single cup or full pot, decaf or regular, any work. Open and put in your bathroom. The coffee works 2 ways to help, it both absorbs odor (like baking soda) and also tends to 'overpower' other smell sensors in your nose. This works well against "sewage smells" as well as other normal bathroom odors! Plus, it doesn't cost you anything.
21. If you have a family that makes it own smells you might want to bring an air freshener for the bathroom.
22. Ask your stateroom host for disinfecting wipes if you need them.

Ok, not to be a computer loser-but I am, but I don't get Facebook. I hear a lot of folks on the DIS saying they Facebook more than they DIS anymore and keep in touch and stuff and they like it better. I just don't get it. What am I not getting on Facebook that they are????? :confused3 Can anyone explain this.
I went and checked out the Members Cruise site and don't get it.
I much prefer to be on here and visit with folks and find out what is going on. For me, this is much easier to use than facebook but then again, I am a computer loser. ;)

I'm on FB but I prefer the DISboards. I use FB mostly to keep in touch with others in the dogs show Golden Retriever community around the world. A few people from high school found me there so that was interesting. It's been interesting to see them all grown up and pictures of their families. Sometimes it's fun to see what others post for status updates and comment on. I know when I go to WDW I always post it on my FB. Once, I found that one of my dog show aquaintances was there at the same time and we kept each other and the rest of our FB friends updated on what we were doing throughout our trip. We got a huge kick out of it and everyone who wasn't there was participating and having fun with us vicariously.
Don't feel bad though. I didn't get it at first either. It wasn't until I really started accepting friend requests and participating that I had fun with it.

Yay thread 2!
As for facebook Erik and I just joined a few months ago. And I too like Dis and other boards for chatting more. But I spend wayyyyyy to much time on facebook games as does Erik. Otherwise it was cool because I got to meet back up with a number of my friends from college and my roommates from college program. So that's pretty fun.

Thank you for the answers to my Facebook question. I guess I just don't get the random thoughts some people get out there. It is great to catch up with old classmates/family/friends and see what is going on. We used to be consumed with a couple of the games but have gave up on them a long time ago because that is all we were doing. And I don't understand where to go or how to get to the Disney forums. But that is ok. I get on in the morning to see what is going on then I come over here and stay.
Sorry to ramble, thanks for the input. :flower3:

I got addicted to Farm Town for a while and then it became like a second job. I didn't want to just quit so I decided once I could have llamas I will have reached my "goal." :rotfl2: Then I retired.
Yeah the "I'm going to take a shower" status updates I could do without. But random thouhgts like, "Sometimes I wonder, why is that frisbee getting bigger? Then it hits me!" make me laugh  I'm signed on to our FB cruise page and I check it once in a while. I did sign on with Twitter for the D23 tweets and the WDW blog tweets.

Thanks for the reality check!!! OK so DH CAN survive with Coke (Sprite) but I will have to bring one carry on with some water and maybe some liquor:rolleyes1. So let me get this right - any liquids have to be carried on?? Or is it just beverages? How about food/snacks??

i was looking on disneys cruise line faq page and this is from it . do thay not go by it What food or food storage containers are not permitted?
Answer
Food coolers containing personal snack foods and drinks may not be brought onboard. They are only permitted if needed for medications, baby food or items related to special dietary needs.
Homemade, pre-cooked or other perishable items plus any open snack containers cannot be brought on board. Limitations on permitted food items are directly related to concerns for food safety and contamination prevention.
Disney Cruise Line regrets that the crew members on board are unable to provide food preparation, refrigeration or storage for personal food or beverage items. Disney Cruise Line cannot verify the cleanliness of the environment in which pre-cooked or homemade food items were prepared, and so for the safety of all Guests and crew, these items are not permitted aboard the ship.
Personal bottle warmers are not permitted on board due to safety concerns. However, a limited number of approved bottle warmers and bottle sterilizers are available upon request through Guest Services. In addition, Guests can request hot water to be delivered to their stateroom at any time from Room Service.
Alcohol is permitted on board. However, be aware that any fragile items (including bottled alcohol) must be hand-carried on board in a day bag and/or carry-on bag, the dimensions of which cannot exceed 22" wide, 14" high and 9" deep. Guests who request a Wine Steward to open and serve a bottle of champagne, wine or liquor that has been brought onboard will be charged a corking fee of $18.00 per bottle.
Please be advised: Disney Cruise Line reserves the right to remove fragile items (including beverages) from luggage. In such cases, items will be stored and returned at the end of the voyage. Beverage containers are considered fragile and have previously caused damage in checked luggage. All fragile items must be transported inside carry-on luggage.

That is correct. You cannot bring coolers on board. However, you are able to put water and soda in your carry on or day bag. You can also bring unopened candy onboard. I know this because I did it last year.

I use a backpack cooler for when we are in the parks - since we are going to WDW after the cruise I will have it in my luggage - will there be any problem having it with me in a checked bag?

That should not be a problem. I think the main thing is that DCL does not want the big plastic coolers and they do not want people bringing on open containers of food.

About the cooler/food/drink questions....I know it is DCL's policy that they do not allow coolers, but I have seen many people bring coolers. I don't think DCL will tell you that you cannot bring your cooler onboard....unless it's a great big cooler that won't fit through their scanners. And, of course, you cannot have any ice in it. When you get to your stateroom you can ask your stateroom host/hostess for ice. I know the last time we cruised, we brought tons of snacks from home including some girl scout cookies, pringles, and other kinds of chips. That was all in one of our checked bags.
So, unless DCL has cracked down on this, the backpack coolers and smaller coolers should be fine. Especially if they're the collapsable coolers.

And I hate to say but last year I took an eight pack of pepsi, in the little plastic bottles, with and I put it in my checked luggage. I would put like 3 bottles in a ziplock baggie, seal it up and just put it in my suitcase between our clothes. No problems with it what so ever. In fact, if I remember correctly, I put it in my suitcase before we left home. So we flew down to Florida with it checked too. I will probably do that again this year once we get to Florida. As we don't plan on checking bags, just carry ons, and we will have a rental car for a couple days before the cruise and we will be stopping at a grocery store or Wal-Mart some where along the way. This is just my experience and thought I would share.

Chris and Debbie - thanks for the info - I was hoping it would not be an issue. I assumed the rules were similiar to airports.
I am stressing about packing - I need to get a new large suitacse - 2 of ours were destroyed by the airline this past trip - one had been damaged by them and I had it duct taped but it finally was just too damaged...so I keep thinking how am I going to fit everything....AHHHHH!!!!

A little tip, and maybe you already know this, but roll your clothes. You can fit more in a suitcase if you do this. Also, be sure to stuff socks/underwear in to your shoes. But be careful, you can really go over the weight limit by rolling clothes too. :rolleyes1

I've also heard about people going over the weight limit by packing their clothes in the space bags. While they save space, they do not make your clothes lighter in weight.

I'm not packing yet although now I am hunting DD6 another swimsuit which is nearly impossible to find now:confused3 school clothes are out. I had both girls a princess suit put away for the cruise, then we got the pool and the one DD6 had she grew out of actually everyone we put on didn't fit her somewhere --- she is VERY tall for 6 and is continuing to grow:confused:, so now I have a suit for me and none for her!! Hopefully I will make it to the bigger mall this week to see if they have anything left!!

Good luck to all those in search of swim wear for the cruise. I know I need a new top for my suit since the new one I bought this year broke already. :headache: Makes me mad cuz I really like it. So, I might go looking this weekend for a new one. Not sure. If not, I'm sure we will be stopping by Ron Jon's before we go to the cruise on Sunday morning so I may have to look there.

I wanted to send something to the room for her, but the gifts that the cruise line have, are not really for kids. When we first sailed with Disney, they had a nice B-day gift basket with a Pluto that could be signed. Does any one know of a website where I can get a basket made and have it sent to the ship? Thanks for any help you can offer.

Hi all just wanted to make a suggestion in regard to the great bathing suit hunt. If you are in FL before the cruise and traveling by something other then Disney you could always stop at a Target or Walmart down there. The one's in Florida may have bathing suits later in the season if not year round. Though I'm sure the selection might be small, and who wants to wait till then. But it might be cheaper then on the cruise itself. Of course I'd be lobbying for one on the cruise because as a kid I'd love a Disney suit!

The Targets & Wal-marts in Miami still have bathing suits. I am sure most in Fl do.

Our target and wal-mart are wiped out!!! I went to Sears today and found one for her!!! $25 but at least she has one and it came with a cover up. I went to Disney store online - they had only 1 pcs and while that is a last resort I prefer the tankinis for the girls - you know how often kids need to go potty!!! :rotfl:

I'm here!!!:wave2:
Just got done cleaning up the pool area a little we had a massive storm - came on quick. My BIL works about 15 mins away from our house and he called my DSis (who was watching the girls) to say it was on them. Totally black, power outages, etc. I was on my way home and beat it - luckily!!! There is a ton of yuck in the pool now:headache:.
Now I have to finish up some work:headache:!!!

I'm here too! Just got done cleaning and organzing the puppy room. I had enough hair in there to build a few more dogs! My two youngest were in season which means they must be segregated from Disney who thinks he is Casanova  The hormone changes causes the girls to blow out their coat. So of course after a month I have a room full of hair no matter how much I vacuum. Oh thank goodness its over. Six months of peace until we go through it again.

This had me :lmao: - everytime DH brushes and bathes our Chewy he gauges how many puppies he can make by the fur that comes off of him!!! Usually it is - "Oh, Mom only 1 puppy today" but during shedding season its "WOW, Mom I think we could have made 4 puppies!!" :)

Hey guys!! I need some advice/input. I plan to bring some kind of liquor on board with us. I like umbrella drinks... but just one...for the "vacation atmosphere". Then I switch to something "better". I like drinks that are a little sweet but not TOO sweet and I don't like rum and cokes. I had a fellow cruiser tell me to bring some rum or vodka with us and mix it with something like lemonade from the drink stand. Does anyone have any other suggestions? Thanks!

Vodka mixes well with lemonade. I tend to like flavored vodka or coconut rum. Coconut rum I mix with pineapple juice, a few drops of grenadine and call it a Calypso-tini I will probably bring some stuff to make Calypso-tinis and stuff to make Italian Margaritas.

This morning when we got up we saw that United changed some of our flights so we wouldn't be getting in to Orlando until 11:30 Friday night. Luckily DH called and was able to switch our flights back to the original flights so we will be arriving at 9:30 Friday night. We will be staying at the Hilton Garden Inn, which is 5 minutes away from the airport, we stayed there in May when we went down, so it isn't too far away. We didn't want to get in so late because we like a little time to wind down. And then on Saturday we want to get up early so we can head down to our friends place in Sebastian and then on in to Disney's Vero Beach by early afternoon where we will be spending the night. Thank goodness we were able to change the flights back to our original time. However, I would like to get in earlier but we are leaving later on Friday so the kids can get at least a half a day in at school that day. Because they will be missinig the whole next week.

I received this in my email. Though I would share just in case anyone is looking for flights.
American Airline is having a fly south sale on round trip airfare. Purchase your tickets on AA.com by August 13, 2010, and travel September 7 through November 15, 2010 for fares as low as $57 each way. Tickets booked on AA.com must be purchased at least 14 days prior to departure or within 1 day of making reservations, whichever comes first. Up to a Saturday night minimum stay is required, based on travel days. Sale fares are valid for travel from Florida Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday; to Florida Monday through Wednesday and Saturday; other days are subject to higher fares.

Nooooo, not YOU! LOL!
Thanks! Oh what I would give for a day at home without the kids...just ONE day. DH works two jobs, so I never get a break. And the cruise will be a bitter sweet since we won't have the kids with us....but I will miss them so much!
I'm glad you were able to get everything back to the way you wanted it.
I like the fruity drinks too....Pucker in sprite sounds yummy! I'll have to try that!
THIRTY FIVE MORE DAYS!!!!!! OH MY GOSH! We will be on the ship before we know it!! Especially with school starting soon...this next month is going to fly by! I better start packing! LOL
Debbie - yes it is nice to have the house and DH all to my self without the kids. We don't get that very often, but they are growing so fast and they both are so involved with activities, I'm afraid it is going to be just me and DH before we know it. I'm really lost though without them here.
And I'm sure you will miss the kids bunches while on the cruise. We went on last year's Members Cruise without our girls and it was very different. We kept saying we wish they were with us. So, that is why they will be with us this year. :thumbsup2 Plus they said we couldn't go on another cruise without them. ;)
And the dang plane tickets. Had to call again to rearrange the coming home flights on Sunday. We were scheduled to leave at like 10:45 am and they changed the flight to 8:00 am. That meant we would be getting up like at 4 in the morning to try to get to the airport. Um, no thanks. Luckily we were able to get a flight out at 10:14 am, so a little later and we won't have to get up at the butt crack of dawn.
I'm not much for real fruity drinks. I do like Margaritas though.
And yes, I am too hoping that this month is going to fly by. With the girls going back to school, marching band starting, volleyball practice starting, Labor Day coming we are going to be busy. We now have four suitcases and the hanging bag in the living room all ready for packing. DH is mostly done. He just needs underclothes and he is good to go. Me, I will pack the week of leaving. And so will the girls.
Hello All! I hope you have a wonderful and blessed day.
Thanks Marsha. We will. Family and friends will be over to swim. It is gonna be a hot one out there today.

that is a good price for aa.com but thankfuly I already booked the flights lastweek for 380.00 return for DW and myself.... looked on the aa.com site and it was 759.00 return out of Buffalo..... Jetblue was direct flight for 79.00 each for the trip down and same price for Southwest for the trip home with a plane change in BWI..... DW will be happy that I also booked the Satnight at POR before the cruise (her fav. resort before we became DVC members).. now she is paniking because we are only 5 wks out...:rotfl2:

I think the only way to find out is to call DVC MS or DCL (800) 951-3532 and ask them. I just pulled up my reservation on DCL website and didn't see my dining time listed anywhere, so I think the only way to find out is to call them and ask.

From the Cruise Info thread:
As part of the "Cruise Casual" policy, it is asked that you do not wear tank tops, swim wear or shorts to the dining rooms. Jeans are allowed.
They specifically mention jeans and since Marsha said I was OK to wear my crocs flip flops I assume running shoes would be acceptable as well.

The webmaster just closed our other thread so I am re-posting my last post here :woohoo:
I was checking D23 online and saw that they announced the dates for their Sip & Stroll event at Epcot. It will be October 15 and 16th. They also have the D23 Magic & Merriment event dates up which are December 11 and 12. They have not announced when the tickets for each will go on sale or how much they will be but I made ressies for both and am staying at SSR for both. I also got reservations for Jan 1st (my birthday) and 2nd also SSR. There were no studios available for NYE so I booked a value room at Sports since DH has not stayed there yet. I know I said no values ever again after last NYE but this time it's only one night and not 3 :rolleyes1 besides I am waitlisted just in case  Geez, I think we need more points :rotfl2:

That is my understanding. I actually did swim in the same water as the nurse sharks at Typhoon Lagoon. I still freaked out a bit  and swam across as fast as I could. I try to face my fears on my terms :rolleyes1 Overfed nurse sharks at Disney World were probably not entirely dangerous to me. Not to mention I have not heard about even one shark attack at Typhoon Lagoon. When I gather up the courage I will watch episodes of Shark Week from earlier this month

Ya know, the other day we got our documents and I was so excited my oldest DD is like "Mom, you are like a kid on Christmas Morning!". I said Yes I am. I was so excited. Doing the happy dance and all. So when I got to work the next morning I told the gals I work with that we got our cruise documents and they are like. . . .oh. What? :confused3 Don't you understand how excited I am. My boss is like, is that for October? I said no, September. I mean it has been on the calendar since last September. They just don't understand and took all my excitement away. I mean, WE GOT OUR CRUISE DOCUMENTS!!!! It doesn't get much more exciting than that, except for being there and boarding the ship. I know we have been on cruises before and they have heard all about them, but they just don't realize how happy they make me.

Oh, and I know I have mentioned about how much rain we have been getting. Well, here at our house we have had 7.5 inches of rain since Sunday Night. :scared1: Yes, 7.5 inches. Our driveway is washed out. The road is closed again. The entire city of Ames, where Iowa State University is, is flooded. Major interstates are closed because of rising water. It is just terrible everywhere in our state. We had a horrible winter with record breaking snows and now this summer we have been having record breaking rain falls. I sure hope it ends soon. Everyone is just in a mess around here.

I have to say that I like how the cruise docs are personalized and in a spiral booklet form. I was very pleased.

I am lucky I not only became really good friends with one of my co-workers but she is a disney fan. She actually went and auditioned at WDW when she was in college - she looks like Ariel!!! So she and I talk Disney when I need a fix....everyone else thinks we are NUTS!!!
I am off for the rest of the week. DD6 has theater camp all week and they are performing Annie tomorrow evening. So she has rehersal today then we are going to get school shoes, that is pretty much all we have left to get.

Well, no rain last night, but it is expected again tonight and tomorrow night. They are saying heavy again. Ughhhhh. We need to build an arc. DH was going to try and dig out some of the mud that has plugged up our ditches but the tractor we have wouldn't start and he tried to fix it and the gas filter broke. He was not happy. Had to order a new one and won't be in until Friday.
But don't worry, rain or shine, we will be on the ship on September 12th! There is nothing that will stop us. :rolleyes1

Marsha - I so agree with you on the books. They are really cool this time. We were wondering if they are special for this cruise of if this is the way they are doing them now? It would be nice to think they are only doing them for us, but I doubt it. Does any one else know?
Ian - hope you get your documents soon. Because when we called MS and talked to them on Sunday they said our documents were scheduled to be printed soon and then we got them on Monday. :confused3 Wow, fast print job. Only thing is, the ME vouchers we received have the wrong flight information on them. That is why we called MS to tell them we had a flight change. Not sure if we will get new ones or not.

YOU NEED ROOM IN YOUR SUITCASE FOR THE SMALL GIFTS YOU GET. THEY USUALLY RELATE TO THE GUESTS AND THEME OF CRUISE. ONE YEAR WE GOT A BIG WALL THROW( not sure what they are called) HAD WALT AND MICKEY IN THE PATTERN. I CANT EXPLAIN WHAT THESE ARE CALLED. THEY CAN HANG ON WALLS OR THROWN OVER YOUR EASY CHAIR. WE GOT 2 OF EVERYTHING SINCE THERE IS 2 PEOPLE IN OUR CABIN. IM A PIN COLLECTER, LAST YEAR WE RECEIVED SPECIAL PINS FOR THE NEW VERSION OF SNOW WHITE. ONE YEAR WE ADDED 250 POINTS ON THE CRUISE AND RECEIVED FREE MEMBER CRUISE FOR THE FOLLOWING YEAR ON DECK 6. PLUS A GLASS CARVING OF WALT AND MICKEY. YOU GET TO FIND OUT WHAT IS NEW WITH DVC . THEY HAVE THEATRE PRESENTATIONS. A COUPLE PEOPLE GET THERE NAME DRAWN FOR GIFTS SUCH AS 250 POINTS TO BE USED NEXT YEAR.
OBVIOUSLY THEY ARE GONG TO TRY TO ENTICE YOU TO BUY MORE POINTS:rotfl2:. LAST 2 CRUISES I SAT WITH DUCKY WILLIAMS AND HAD A NICE CONVERSATION WITH HIM BY THE ADULT POOL. LAURA AND I HAD LUNCH ON THE ISLAND AT SERENITY BAY WITH VINCE PAPALI AND HIS WIFE. THE PERSON THE MOVIE INVINCABLE WAS MADE ABOUT. THAT WAS SOOOOO INTERESTING. WE TALKED LIKE 2 COUPLES ABOUT OUR KIDS ETC.

Ian -good news - I talked to MS today to book our transportation and asked the CM about our docs not being here yet. She said they are usually mailed out 2-3 weeks in advance when I said some people I had talked to said they had gotten theirs already she said not to worry they would be on their way!!!
So we decided to go with Disney Transportation to the port and to BLT and ME back to MCO. We had originally thought about renting a car but after researching because we have our OL we would need a larger vehicle and also DD3 still has to be in a car seat so another $12 for that we were up to $108 and schlepping our own stuff....at least this way most things will go to the ship without us worrying about them.
Only new dilemna is the LIQUOR!!!! I usually pack it in the checked bags -of course - but when we were renting a car I could take my Pucker out and carry it on the ship....now what....do I just not put DCL tags on the bag with the liquor...can I just leave it since it will be checked through airport security??? HELP!!!!

im probably not answering your question, but we dont use our disney me tags . I always go get my own bags and take them to the bus. That way we have our bags sooner. We normally have our liquor in our baggage going down then that night move the liquor to our carry on for the ship. This time i will be buying it down there. Besides a ship full of DVC members who share in your excitement and love of Disney, you can expect
Less children onboard
Special guests related to the theme
special presentations related to the theme
A presentation about special incentives in the hope of trying to get you to add on more points
Daily gifts usually equal to the number of people in the room including little ones
DVC decorations on the ship

Hey everybody. Seems I was out lounging in the pool while Terrie and Ian were getting the next :bride: and pirate:. Congrats guys.
Debbie - yes the flood waters are crazy here. They are predicting more rain for yet tonight through tomorrow night. It is actually like Florida outside. The humidity is crazy high and so are the temperatures. But then again it is State Fair time here and that is usually how it is.
As for past cruises, yes you do get nice gifts. Last year we got these clocks with the Mickey Inspiration theme on them. We actually had to get a box and ship our stuff home. The sad part is is we don't even have the clocks up and working. I tried, but the tick tock tick tock tick toc was just too loud for me in the bathroom that is in our bedroom so I took the batteries out and put it back away. We have even left some items in the rooms on the ship because they have been too bulky. (Don't want to say what they are in case they do them again this year.) We have brought two of them home but have had to leave the rest. I guess we really don't go for the gifts. We go because we get to go to CC twice and it is just a nice and relaxing cruise. Also, if you want to purchase more points, now is the time. That is what we did last year and that is how we got on this year's cruise was by purchasing more points. I hope you all enjoy this cruise if it is your first one.

YAY!!!! It's FRIDAY!!!! It's been a long stressful two weeks at work. I get to see my BFF (since 3rd grade) tonight and tomorrow I get to see her again and then go hang out with my other BFF (from high school) tomorrow night. I'm so excited! My first BFF moved away when I was in 9th grade and I made a new BFF in 10th grade because her childhood BFF had moved away that summer, too! So I have two BFF's! lol Then, hopefully Sunday the kids and I can go to the water park. Gotta go a couple more times to get my money's worth out of the season passes. Hope you all have a WONDERful day!

I don't know about that. :rolleyes1 We might be able to work something out. :rotfl: There is usually only one of the things we have left because they are too big, and we don't need four of them, and we really don't have a use for them at home. I don't want to say what it is because I don't want to spoil anything for anybody. And it is just those one certain things we leave behind.
It sounds like you are going to have a fun weekend. Enjoy! :flower3:

Oh yay! :yay: I'm short, hopefully whatever it is will come in handy :goodvibes I am SO happy it is Friday! I finished up my morning class and am back home. I am done packing and DH should be home in 1/2 an hour and then we are off to WDW  I got dinner reservations at Fulton's Crab House for tonight after the Tower of Terror event. I had thought about eating dinner first but Wally pointed out that it might not be a good idea to go eat at The Brown Derby and then ride ToT :lmao: I hadn't thought of that. Boy that could have been messy
Enjoy the weekend everybody!

I know you know Ian. We got 4 in 2007 and then 2 in 2009. I really hope they don't do them again this year. But if they do, we will deal with it. We loved what comes inside of those things. In fact the license plate thingy we got last year, I have both on my Tahoe. One in front and one it back! ;)

Oh, Terrie - DH loves Fulton's. We have always been lucky there. I especially loved the Pop Rocks Martini that they had. Guess they don't have it no more. Have a great dinner. And think of all of us at home eating cold, leftover pizza from the other night! :rotfl2:

Thanks everyone!! Getting them has put me in full swing... I started packing!!!I don't even know how I fit it in. DD6 had rehearsal yesterday AM and then her show was last night. DH had to work :sad2: but she had 12 other family members cheering her on!!! We all were going to dinner afterwards and where does she pick....WENDY'S....:rotfl2: really you can go ANYWHERE!!!!
Then friends of ours who went with me, my DSis18 and her BF, stayed and when DH got home we played games until 1AM!!!!!:scared1::scared1: DH was cracking up because I was still awake. When our friends left, the four of us watched "Stepbrothers"...DSis had never seen it....:rotfl::rotfl:.....I LOVE that movie.......anyway I was up until about 2am before I fell asleep on the couch- I can't believe I did that...of course the girls were up at 7am so I think I will crash at some point today!!!

Good Saturday Morning. :goodvibes
Nikki - sounds like a good time was had last night. But 2 AM! :scared1: I can't remember the last time I saw that time. Oh, yeah, probably the other night when I had to get up in the middle of the night to pee! :rotfl2:
Marsha - have fun at your BBQ's today. Sounds like fun.
Terrie - hope you are having one heck of a good time. I so wish I was there with you.
The girls are getting their hair cut here in a little bit and then it is off to get the dreaded school supplies. Luckily they get easier now that they are both in High School. No more scissors, crayons, paints, etc. Just folders, notebooks and pencils. Easy Peasy. :yay:
DH is outside right now digging out our ditches from all the mud that has filled them up with the rains. What a nasty job that is. But, he has a backhoe to do it with so not to labor intensive for him. I don't know if any of you saw any national news about the Iowa floods but the Wal-Mart and Target that they showed from Ames that were under water is where we do a lot of shopping. We are not going to Ames today but what a mess.

OMG! This is one of our new favorite restaurants! The food was awesome and our server Deddy from Indonesia was great :thumbsup2 I wish I would have seen your post and I would have requested the Pop Rocks Martini. I had a glass of Reisling. We had the blue crab appetizer, DH had filet mignon with South African lobster tail. I had the King crab claws with South African lobster tail and we shared a creamed spinach. For dessert Wally had the Cherry cobbler with ice ccream and I had the triple chocolate mousse cake and an Ice reisling desset wine. It was all SO good! We both fell into a food coma
41 is young. I'm 43 and we are still spring chickens. So stamp your foot away. I just did at DH! haha:rotfl:
Now I did I just KNOW you would agree with me AND be a foot stamper :rotfl2: I actually did stamp my foot at DH last night over the fact that he couldn't do the electric slide and cha cha slide with me at the dance party in Downtown Disney. He was injured playing ultimate frisbee :sad2: and has a tear in his patellar tendon and the Dr. told him no dancing (we take dance lessons to improve our 2 left feet) for 2 weeks and no sports for 6 weeks.

chris sorry to hear about all your rain, we could sure use some. We havent seen rain in weeks. It has all gone around us. Just where we live, we have lake ontario to the north and the escarpment to the south so most storms go around us. It could be raining in niagara falls 10 min from us and be sunny here. Same with snow. Buffalo could get 30 inches and we get none. They are only 30 min south.

I am totally NOT normal. I find it too mundane and I don't know HOW to be normal LOL Dh appears to be, except for the long hair he grows out to then cut and donate to make wigs for kids with cancer. But then again he is married to me which means he can't possibly be completely normal.
Ian if we weren't already booked for the Wanyama Safari we'd meet up with you and Laura for dinner.

FUNNY, BACK IN 1991 I THINK ON OUR THANKSGIVING WEEKEND YOUR COLUMBUS DAY WEEKEND WE WERE AT MK WAITING AT THE END OF MAIN STREET JUST BEFORE THE PARADE GOES AROUND THE CIRCLE, WAITING FOR THE PARADE. WE ASKED A COUPLE STANDING BESIDE US, WHY IT WAS SOOOOOOOOOOO BUSY. THEY TOLD US IT WAS THE VERY FIRST SHOWING OF THE SPECTROMAGIC PARADE. IT SEEMED LIKE ALL OF FLORIDA WAS THERE:rotfl2: EVER SINCE THEN I RACE TO THAT SPOT, STAND BY THAT GARBAGE CAN AND WAIT FOR THE PARADE.SPECTRO MAGIC!!!!!!!

I do hope they bring back Spectromagic soon. It was nice to get to see MSEP but I like Spectromagic better. It is very hot and crowded so we are making our way back to OKW. We are in one of the refurbished studios and it is so pretty! Earlier today we had lunch at Olivia's and we had the key lime tart for dessert. OMG that was SO good! We spent the rest of the afternoon relaxing in the pool. Then we had dinner at The Wave before heading to MK. I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend!

That is our favorite spot for SpectroMagic also!!! SpectroMagic was always our first night thing to do. We usually arrive about 3pm get settled in the room...order Giordano's for dinner and then head to MK to see SpectroMagic...this started on our second trip when we "planned" it that way and it just gets us all in the "magic mode". Of course we haven't seen MSEP yet so can't say we will hate it----just miss SpectroMagic.
We in our house PRETEND to be normal - at least for about the first 5 minutes and then you get the real me....mouth and all...my nickname in school was Mouth because I was not born with a volume control...as my dad will tell you!!!
