Disney Reward Dollars from Disney Visa

Hi everyone, I have a quick question regarding the Disney Reward Dollars. I was hoping that I could use those dollars to help pay for my Disney vacation but if you have to have your trip paid in full 45 days in advance how do you go about redeeming your Disney Dollars ahead of arriving at the resorts? I've been saving for almost 5 years and it's now time to use them so they don't start expiring so I have 1,000+ to use up and wanted to use them towards our vacation. Any insight is greatly appreciated.

You have to call and order the disney rewards card and have the money transferred to it. It takes about 2 weeks to get the card.

Couple of things...

I believe you can still get a card in Downtown disney if you don't get it in the mail in time for your trip.

Also, what many do is make their trips for 1 or 2 day base tickets, and upgrade when you get there, paying it with your rewards card.

Or, charge everything to your KTTW card, and the night before departure, stop by the service desk and pay the balance with the rewards card.

I actually called them and asked them today about the rewards card. I ordered a new rewards card (it doesn't expire until 12/2011) and she told me that if I earn any more dollars between now and when I use it, I can just call and request them to transfer those dollars onto my card and it's immediate (I'd allow a day or two to be sure since once they're on the card, you can't transfer them back). I typically don't rack up enough dollars in the 45 days between paying off the package and actually checking in to make a huge difference. One time we used the rewards card to pay for some meals at the restaurants and some souvenirs.
