Myself - 38 Researcher and neurotic planner of all things

DH - 38 Definitely not a planner, but willing to go along with just about anything

DD - 16 We surprised her by celebrating her 16th birthday during this trip. Her birthday was actually July 1st, but due to younger DD’s softball schedule, the trip had to be postponed until now. She didn’t know that this would still be considered her birthday trip.

DD - 11 (will be 12 in September and already considers herself a teenager)

Thursday, August 8, 2002. MGM & Typhoon Lagoon. We get up and have breakfast in the food court (love the blueberry muffins) and decide to head back over to MGM to finish up some of the things we didn’t get to do yesterday. We immediately get
in line for RNR while DH gets FPs for HTT. We wait about 10 minutes and we’re on RNR. We decide to head over to the GMR and are on in about 10 minutes. It’s now time for our FP return for HTT, so we get FPs for WWTBM and then onto HTT. We
made a potty break just before getting onto HTT and I overheard a lady talking to her son and saying “What a way to start our day. I didn’t even think the ride was that bad,” as she was wiping at a large wet spot on her shorts and son was standing shirtless. My assumption was that someone near them had gotten sick and they had been the unlucky recipients of their attention. Oh, well...we got on HTT (after I looked around to
make sure there were no remnants of the sick passenger) and of course loved it as always. We killed some time in the gift shops and then over to WWTBM. When they showed the results of the first fastest finger question, I was number 2 - RATS!! Well,
the teenager in the hot seat did pretty well (surpassing his father who had been in the hot seat on their previous trip), so we only had time for 1 more person - not me!! We had fun anyway. We decided to go check in for our PS at 50's Prime Time and were
seated within 5 minutes. Our server was so-so, not nearly as good as the servers near us. One of the others made all of his tables get up and go wash their hands before he’d take their orders. One family didn’t seem to want to play along and the husband and son, just sat there, but wife and grandma reluctantly did as they were told. DH had the meatloaf, I had the pot roast (delicious) DD 16 had the chicken caesar salad and DD 11 had (you guessed it ) chicken nuggets. Afterwards, they brought DD 16 a cupcake and sang an off key version of Happy Birthday to her. She and I split a chocolate malt, DD 11 had the “Create your own sundae” and DH had the cheesecake. We all enjoyed this meal, but wish we’d have had a different server. Oh, well, we were off to Muppets 3D with only a short wait and then onto the Backlot tour, again a short wait. This is one I
could skip, but we were there and the line was short, so...

We then decide to head back to the hotel and change and off to Typhoon Lagoon. We got there around 4:00 p.m. and went on a few slides and then decided to do the Shark Reef snorkeling. We’ve snorkeled in the Carribean and even swam with Stingrays in Grand Cayman, but kids decide to sit this one out (“We’re not scared, the water’s too cold...”) DH and I did it and it was nice, but the water WAS very cold and you have to swim directly across and then exit - no loitering. Oh, well, we still thought it
was nice. Onto more slides, then the wave pool. Ah...warm water...we loved the wave pool here. Every few minutes, you hear a loud buzz and then a really big wave goes across the pool. Of course, everyone screams and enjoys the wave and then you do it all over again. We finally left TL around 7:15 and head back to the hotel for baths. DD 11 and DD 16 go to the pool, while we get washed up and then it’s their turn. We
decide to just eat at the food court since we’re all exhausted. Kids finish up and head to the room and DH and I decide to go get our tickets for E-night tomorrow (originally we had decided not to do a second E-night, but we discussed it and decided to get every minute out of trip as possible and go for it) and walk around the gift shop. We decide to splurge and have dessert all by ourselves (can you imagine?) out by the pool. Within minutes, DD 11 walks up to us and announces via walkie talkie to DD 16,
“Mission accomplished, I’ve found them”. We are admonished by our 11 year old and told that she had looked all over for us and that they couldn’t imagine where we could possibly be and that they wanted to go to sleep, but were worried about us. We
couldn’t help but laugh - us, being fussed at by our children for staying out too late!! We kissed her goodnight and told her we’d be up soon. When we got to the room, they were, of course, still wide awake and we all wind down for the night. Tomorrow is our
last day...

so you got in trouble with the kids for staying out too late?!?!

we did shark reef for the first time this trip....over and over again. Our 3 and 5 yr old children loved it. (1st snorkling experience for them) It is great for 1st timers and the life gards are great with the kids. We even went back another day just to do this and when exiting the park 45 min after opening a castmember asked why we were leaving so early and we explained that our kids just like to come here to swim with the fish! The water was a bit nippy though when you are used to heated pools!

Another great day! I've never done a WDW water park, but Typhoon Lagoon sounds like a lot of fun!
