Myself - 38 Researcher and neurotic planner of all things

DH - 38 Definitely not a planner, but willing to go along with just about anything.

DD - 16 We surprised her by celebrating her 16th birthday during this trip. Her birthday was actually July 1st, but due to younger DD’s softball schedule, the trip had to be postponed until now. She didn’t know that this would still be considered her birthday trip.

DD - 11 (will be 12 in September and already considers herself a teenager)

Tuesday, August 6, 2002. Animal Kingdom and E Night. We have a wake up call for 7:30 a.m. this morning, Stitch again, (As always, I’m awaking before the call, but DH and the kids are not “jumping” out of bed like they did the first day) and have
breakfast in the food court. We’re off to AK today, as we figure it’ll be hot and we’ll be ready to get back to the hotel and rest before E-night. We immediately head over to Kali, but have to wait for rope drop in Asia. We get FP (because the ride won’t even open for another 30 minutes) and decided to do one of the trails (I get the names of the trails mixed up now that I’m home, but it was the one in Asia). We get in line for Kali (about 5 minutes) and everyone loves the ride. We’re fortunate enough (at least by my standards, not the kids’) to not get soaked. Now we use our FPs (which we really didn’t need - later in the day it got really busy) and I get the most wet (lucky me), but the ones who get the wettest are the ones who go down the falls backwards. They were soaked. I was seated to their left, so my right side got it.

We head on over to Africa and on our way I spot Devine who is wrapped around a pole (no one else in our group knows what’s going on. Thanks to you guys, I spotted her). I make everyone stop and tell DD 11 to look at the plant. She says “What’s so
great about a plant” (she’s got no time for plants, she’d be happy to go on Kali over and over all day) and Devine hears this and moves towards her. Now people are starting to gather and everyone thinks she’s really cool. We take some pictures, but we don’t want to monopolize Devine, so we move on over to Africa to get FPs for KS and do another trail in the meantime. We grab drinks and sit for a while. We then do KS (it was hot and we didn’t see too many animals) and head on over to ITTBB where we wait for about 20 minutes. It always amazes me how many kids end up really screaming by the end of this movie. It really is a cute show. We head on over to get FPs for Dinosaur.
The line wasn’t bad, so we got our FP and did stand by as well. We then went to try PW, but there was a 45 minute wait. Well, I’m not so sure I even want to go on it in the first place (after hearing so many of you refer to it as Primeval Hurl), so we decide to go eat instead.

We head on over to Restaurantosaurus where we encounter the longest lines of our trip. We literally had to cruise around (as did everyone else) waiting for someone to get up so we could have their table. I felt like a vulture. DH stood in line for at least 30
minutes getting our food. The cashier even joked that they should have a FP for food. It was absolutely mobbed. AK really needs more restaurants/counter service. We ate while another family watched us so that they could have our table when we were finished - very relaxing meal. After we gulped down our food, the kids noticed that there was almost no line for PW, so we decided to give it a try - yes, on a full stomach!! Well, it wasn’t as bad as I thought it was going to be and we survived quite nicely. It was now time for our Dinosaur FP. We thought we’d do PW again, but the line was again back to 45 minutes.

Decided to walk around a bit and head back to the hotel for a quick swim and some rest. For some reason, ASMo had the Fantasia pool closed this afternoon for maintenance and we had to use the Mighty Ducks pool. We swam for a bit and one by
one got out for showers. We napped for a bit and then it was off to MK for our very first e-night.

We got our wristbands and decided to go eat. We didn’t have PS, but decided to try Tony’s with no luck. Plaza Restaurant had a long wait and we didn’t feel like burgers, so we decided to eat at Plaza Pavillion. DH had the Italian stack (he wasn’t sure if he liked it at first, but then decided that he did) and DDs and I split 2 pizzas and breadsticks. We made our way over to see Spectromagic which was beautiful as always and then sat on the bridge in front of Crystal Palace and waited for the fireworks. I hadn’t seen the fireworks at MK in many years, as they weren’t doing it on our last several trips, so we really enjoyed it. Then it was off to e-night. We did Splash Mountain (about a 15 minute wait) and the Haunted Mansion. Then headed over to Tomorrowland where we walked on Buzz and waited about 15 minutes for Space Mountain. We decided to break for ice cream (love the hand dipped chocolate chip with hot fudge...mmm...) and sat and watched the castle change colors and the people
leaving Main Street. Then it was off Splash, BTMR and Splash again. By this time, it was about 12:30 a.m. and we were all exhausted, so we decided to head back to the hotel. We decide we probably won’t do E-night again on Friday because it wasn’t
nearly as deserted as we thought it would be. I guess we got spoiled by FP and decide that’s an easier way to go. We had also heard stories about being able to ride an attraction over and over again, but that clearly was not an option because there were
always people waiting in line. We probably had our hopes up too high, but we did enjoy the evening. Off to sleep...

pumba, the pizza (you get a personal pizza and a breadstick with your meal) wasn't bad and was definitely a welcome change from burgers. The marinara dipping sauce for the breadstick tasted "canned", but all in all, we enjoyed this meal.

P.S. Thanks for the responses to the reports. I appreciate the feedback.

hpygrll, Devine is a woman on stilts who is camouflaged in a vine costume. Unless she happens to move, you really can't tell that she's not a real vine. I had read about her in previous posts, but never thought that we'd see her. It was kind of neat.

Where does Devine hang out? I must've missed this along the way.

We've never tried E-night. But we do love to see Devine!

I'm glad that considering you don't do VR rides PW wasn't too bad (I love the coasters, but can't do BW or ST!)

Thanks for another great report!

I've never been to e-night, and I have never seen Devine! A lot of firsts for me in your report! Thanks so much for sharing your trip with us - I am really enjoying it!
