OK...here is the start to our new "Rum Runner Weight Loss Challenge!" :thumbsup2 Now all we need are some rules for the challenge...Anyone??? :confused3

As far as rules go, I would say we're on the honor system. (If you're caught cheating you will be made to wear a duck beak on the rum run and be labeled the "Designated Duck" with appropriate signage... lol). Winner can be chosen by everyone as we get close to our sail date.
Should we make a special ticker for us?

I am definitely in! I mean, I wasn't serious about it until you started talking bedazzled Minnie bow! ::MinnieMo :lmao:

I'll probably officially start my diet after our August vacation--then it's on!

Thanks for getting this going! :flower3:

I figure there is not a better way to keep myself honest than to make it public. I lost 3 pounds this week. I hope I never find them again. :)

If you haven't tried the Special K "K20" Protein Powder Drink mix yet, give it a try. I liked the Strawberry Kiwi, but not the iced tea. I am very picky about things that have a diet after taste. The strawberry was very good, not to diet tasting. It was a nice treat for something flavorful other than water and I did find it kept me feeling full for the late afternoon snacking time before dinner. Which is where I usually eat everything in sight. :cake:

Good Luck to you all this week!

I am a late night snacker. After the boys are in bed and I settle down to watch TV I get so peckish I eat and eat :(

What a great reason to join!

We really haven't decided on all the rules for the challenge yet, we just thought it would be a good idea for us to start loosing before we cruise. I find if I try to keep it to myself then it is easy to cheat because no one knows, so I am telling everyone I see that I have a goal by April.

 By the way this is how I look in Zumba class!

Hi Dawn...

I used to take Zumba 3 days a week (one night for 3+ hours) It's so much fun!!!

I have been doing Zumba and also Jazzercise since January. I have lost 25 pounds and almost 10 inches. :)

I set a goal weight for the cruise...and I'm half way there. I'm certain that I will be able to make my goal by April!!!

That is fabulous! This is only my second week, I hope I can be as successful as you! Keep it up! I can't imagine Zumba for 3 hours, I wouldn't be able to walk.

I plan on joining everyone here, but I think I will probably wait until after I get back from WDW. No point worrying about it now :rotfl2:

But after mid-August....I'm here!!

Count me in!! Since I go to bed really early (7 pm) I have to eat dinner, if I eat at all that is, really early - no later then 4pm. I was off work for 2.5 months and lost 10 lbs there and so far I've kept it off, I already went down 1 size. I want to go down 2 more sizes by the cruise. I better start doing my Wii Fit again. LOL

Hey Everyone! :goodvibes And welcome to TinkerTY! :yay:

I was getting ready to comment that there was not much activity on our cruise meets board this week...and then I clicked on this new thread and saw everyone's postings! This is great! :thumbsup2

Boy do I need this right now! Just spent 7 nights in a cabin, in the mountains, with each cabin doing an activity/dinner night, with huge amounts of food!!! :scared1: Needless to say...I need to lose a few!

I am not sure how to set this challenge up. We could vote for a winner, have each person who makes their goal be a winner...any thoughts? :confused3

Well, however it gets set-up...count me in. My goal is going to be to get back into an exercise routine (I used to run every other day - had to stop last year because my knees were giving out.) So we now have our new eliptical machine and ab circle pro thing. I need to be exercising at least 4 times a week. With constant exercise, hopefully my body will get back from flab to fit. I only need to lose a few pounds...we don't even own a scale...but I can tell when I have those extra pounds! My check-ins will consist of making sure that I exercised...and changing the flab to fit - I will keep you all posted. It all starts today! :cool2:

:cheer2: Congratulations to those that have already started progress towards their weight loss goal! :cheer2:

Hi everyone! This is my official Monday morning message. I only lost 1.5 pounds. I only made it to Zumba once last week. :confused3 Hmmm... I wonder if excercising really has something to do with weight loss???

Hope you are all doing well!

:mickeybar Hello Everyone!

This is my Monday morning check-in (even though it is Sunday evening!) I did it! I exercised 5 days this week - about 30 minutes each time. I love my new eliptical machine! :goodvibes I hope to see some results within the next few weeks - my husband and I are going to wedding that will have a bunch of high school/college friends in attendance - and then our cruise on LOTS.

Now I put a :mickeybar on my opening because we keep on buying ice cream sandwiches and nutty buddies! Yikes! :scared1: If I continue consuming ice cream creations - then my exercising is just balancing out my new snack! :rolleyes1

I hope that everyone has a great start to the week! :thumbsup2

Hello Everyone! I'm starting next week - since I was finishing an ice cream bar as I started reading this thread! I am just like EcbLovesMickey - night time snacking for me. When I was traveling this summer for business - dinner time was 930-1000 - so that is where my weight gain really came from. It's not the pounds for me - its the fact that my clothes do not fit and we all know that my spare $$ needs to go towards my Disney habit!

My goal is no snacking after dinner, drink 6 bottles of water each day, and exercise 30 minutes 4 nights a week......

This is fun with an accountability group! Good luck to all of us :grouphug:

Hello Everyone! :lovestruc

I ended up exercising 4 times this week for 30 minutes each. I am kind of getting back into the swing of things...and my muscles are feeling it! :thumbsup2 That's a good thing, though. Have eaten less nutty buddies...I have two weeks to go until a wedding we are attending with a bunch of old friends...and three weeks until my cruise. We shall see! :goodvibes

Hello!

Okay, so next week is vacation & then I am committed to this! In between my two pregnancies I went on South Beach & actually had some good luck with it (lost 60 lbs)--then I got pregnant & fell back into my old habits & that was that.

What I liked about South Beach is that it involved a lifestyle change & gave me guidelines to follow. I'll have to see if there's anything new out there, otherwise I'll go back to the South Beach plan--diets do not work for me! I also have a WiiFit so I will be using that for my exercise routine (once I break open the box, that is :rolleyes1 ). Now that I think of it, there's a hotel that has morning water aerobics that I could do--both boys will be in school this year so I'll have time right after I drop them off to do that!

To everyone who is already started, keep up the good work! You're inspiring the rest of us to get going! Looking forward to being a "loser" over the next months with you! :thumbsup2

:wave2:Hello Everyone, I guess I slipped off the wagon popcorn:: with another trip up north and the holiday weekend. But I am back now and with the kids going back to school tomorrow, I am thinking of it as a new begining. I am thinking of going back to Weight Watchers, but I have a hard time paying for them to tell me things I already know I should be doing.
My Zumba classes are over and they are only offering them every other Saturday, which may be fun but not really a weight loss option.
I am thinking of joining curves has anyone done this?:confused3 What do you think?

OK I'm in. I joined a new gym today that is closer to the house. I plan on getting up at 5 a.m. to workout since I work a 7 am and work 10 hour days. I'm also starting the medifast diet tomorrow. I have about 70 lbs to lose but I feel the April 2011 date give me plenty of time to get there. So thanks for motivating me and good luck to all.

I haven't been on here in awhile...but am continuing to exercise about 4 times a week. I feel good...but haven't really seen a change in my appearance. Maybe with some time...or maybe if I increase the exercising time...

I hope that everyone is seeing results with their challenge! :goodvibes

:)So, I was reading on another board that Castaway Cay has a 5k run/walk and from what I read, it is an ongoing thing! I think those of us participating in the Mango Rum Run should totally do this 5k too! What do you think? Seriously, it would be a great incentive to get out for a walk/jog/run and a great way to get in shape and shed some pounds. Every mile you run equals 100 calories that you burn. :woohoo: Let's do it!!!

Anyone else have "weight loss" down on their New Year's resolution list?

The one thing about being sick is that it has jump started my new year weight loss. Now if I can only keep it off and chip away at a few more before the cruise!

Okay, with too many excuses the past few months, we're into crunch time & I need to lose some weight before our cruise!

My dsis & I are going to try the "special k" challenge starting today & are going to be each other's support. It seems easy enough to follow for being on the go--two meals replaced with either cereal, a protein bar, or meal shake, two "special k" snacks, one healthy meal, & your choice of fruits/vegee's. We'll give it a shot & see how manageable it is & go from there. My biggest problem is not having SOME kind of guidelines to follow!

I'm going to try to get my excercise via the WiiFit since it's too snowy & waaay to cold to walk outside-yup, I'm a wimp. It looks like a lot on the Wish board like "myfitnesspal" to use as a food/exercise diary so I'm going to head over there to get signed up.

We can do this! :cool1:

Hi Everyone! Ok...so the eliptical machine has not been used for a few months...:rolleyes1 We are in crunch time...and fitting into a bathing suit by April...with no tan...

So sorry that I haven't been over here in a few months...but it's a new year...and I have got to get back in shape! So I started my new meal plans...and yesterday stepped onto the eliptical machine. Hopefully I can keep this up for the next few months...still have to get through the Christmas candy...and then the Valentine's stuff...yikes! :scared1:

So I'll check in here every week...hopefully I can keep to the exercise and eating routine...

Here's wishing that everyone else has great success, too! :wizard:

Hello!
Things are going well--I slipped this weekend since we went away but I'm right back into my diet routine now. I've been having some pretty good luck tracking down enough fruits & vegees to have for snacks which isn't easy at this time of year! I got my start using the WiiFit & really like it--even if it tells me I'm "unbalanced". Yes, yes I am a klutz, a 3rd generation one to be exact! :lmao: I ended up shoveling heavy snow today for 1 1/2 hours so I'm sure I'll be sore tomorrow but that's a good thing! Every bit helps!

Everyone stay positive! :woohoo:

Hi all, I'm going to try and join you. I'm going to try South Beach starting on monday. I have been exercising (30 minutes on the treadmill, 3 times a week) for the past 3 weeks. But I have been gaining weight! I've tried just watching what I have eaten, tried writing it down, but I just over eat anyway. Time to try something new. Only about 2 months to go and I would like to atleast loose a little weight before that.

Kanga+2Roos

Michele,
Love the South Beach diet--I had great sucess with that between my two ds's but fell off the wagon with my second pregnancy. My dsis & I had a big talk deciding which plan to follow this time & were going between South Beach & Weight Watchers (which she has done)--but then I saw the Special K diet & we thought we'd give that a shot, just because it's a no brainer, grab & go diet. I have lost about 7 pounds in the last 2 1/2 weeks between that & exercising but give most the credit to being more aware of what I'm eating & healthier choices, not just the Special K products.

I'm still thinking about switching to South Beach again just because I know I lost 25 pounds in the first 6 weeks the last time--which will be a nice amount off before the cruise! :thumbsup2 Have you done South Beach before? Let me know if you need any ideas for snacks--the first 2 weeks are the worst!

As for me--I feel great now that I'm into the exercise mode! I have the boys profiles in the Wii Fit Plus & they're having just as much fun exercising & competing with me, great motivation! I started the Biggest Loser Wii yesterday & really like it--I'm really beginning to think that I can do this! :cool1:

Keep up the good work everyone! :yay:

Thanks Kathryn, I haven't done South Beach before. I have been reading and reading. My book gets here today. I have picked foods I like, gone to the store, and bagged nuts for snacks :) I am already starting to eat more protein and vegetables (something I really need to do. I also feel better now that I am exercising. I have set Monday as my official start date though. I would love any ideas you have!

Okay, Michele talked me into it--I'm switching to South Beach! Special K was an easy, no-brainer, but it left too much room to cheat! I know I can do great on the South Beach if I add in the exercise that I'm now doing.

Michele--I PM'd you a bunch of ideas for getting started & having the right foods for Phase 1.

Today is my day to get my final cravings out & then I'm locking myself in to a healthier lifestyle--with a minor blip in the routine come cruisetime that is! :rotfl2:

With a little less than 6 weeks to go, I wanted to check in and see how everyone is doing?

I haven't been able to meet my "goal" yet but I'm trying to remain optimistc and convince myself that there is still time.

I have officially lost 30 pounds and has been able to keep it off. I definitely have a ways to go but I'm not giving up...I just need to make better decisions about what I eat. My goal was to lose 50 total before the cruise but I'm still sitting at about 30. (Which is okay by me! :thumbsup2)

30 pounds is fantastic! Congratulations!!! I have a 10 pound goal. Not sure if i will make it yet or not (4.5 down). But I am still doing South Beach and I feel fantastic! And I have lost an inch from my waist and from my hips, so that is all that matters :) 6 weeks to go, starting to get excited!
