Hello everyone:goodvibes
So having lurked around so many planning journals I have finally taken the journal jump into my own! It's probably a little soon as we have over a year to go, but seeing as we are now "officially" engaged after being Unofficially engaged for four months, it feels like a good time to start.
So here is our back story:
I met Chris four years ago. I was living in my hometown Manchester and Chris was in Grimsby on the east coast of the UK - about two hours apart. We both worked for the RAC (breakdown company like AAA). Chris is a patrol and I was his dispatcher in the office.
This is us!
http://i838.photobucket.com/albums/zz304/pipsqueek27/DSCF1044.jpg
We were telephone friends for a year before we met face to face. Then one day he came to the office on a work visit and we just clicked. A few weeks afterwards he invited me to come over to Grimsby for a few days and that was it.Head over heels! I have never met anyone as funny and charming and I knew that this guy was definately a keeper. We had a long year of driving to and fro (mostly me I might add!) until I took the plunge and Moved to Grimsby. This was a hard decision as Manchester is a big city and Grimsby a very small seaside town. however, he was worth the move and he has promised me we will move back to Manchester one day :rolleyes1.
He had never been to Disney before and me being slightly obsessed he knew it was inevitable. Little did I ever expect him to instigate a Disneyland Paris trip for our 2nd Christmas together.
This is us at a very very cold Disneyland Paris:

It was so damn cold!
Anyway after this he was hooked and Florida was without doubt the next port of call. I'm gonna show you some pics from our holiday last year, just so you get an idea of the kind of idiot he really is. Honestly, Chris is 30 going on 13 and I love that about him.

Just wanted to show you guys a pic of my engagement ring. We started plainning ourwedding a few months back but he wanted to officially getting engaged when I least expected it. He went down on one knee at the castle in disneyland Paris in June. I've already posted our engagement story on the main board so here is a pic of the ring and a few taken on the same day.

Time for some updates as DF has disappeared off fishing for the afternoon. He seriously wanted me to go with him and watch! LOL. No thanks!
So originaly we planned to get married in vegas. I secretly harboured the Disney wish but didn't want to force it on him. After a few weeks looking at Vegas wedings, Chris suggested Disney. I very calmly said, "Oh, are you sure. Well if you insist" lol. Took him about a week to peel me off the ceiling after this!
So looking into it we quickly realised that there was no way we could afford a DFTW. So the next plan was Leu gardens, which looks lovely but its not Disney right? So a bit more internet digging and I found a company called Destination Occasions. It's run by a lovely lady called Carrie who does all the wedding planning and she suggested Fultons Crabhouse at DTD. Still Disney but without the price tag. So that decided it. Chris loves boats and we both really liked the idea of such an unusual wedding.
http://i838.photobucket.com/albums/zz304/pipsqueek27/fulton-s-crab-house.jpg
This isn't the best picture really. It looks a bit gloomy. The wedding ceremony takes place on the third deck at 3.30, then we are going to stay there for our reception. As we are only taking our Mums and a couple of friends it wll only be a small reception.
Then after the reception we plan to head over to the Grand Floridian and go on a Wishes Cruise.
Also, we've booked Randy Chapman for our photography. His emails really make me laugh - he seems so cheerful and genuinly enjoys his work. He's going to come up to our hotel early ( we are planning to stay on Disney property the night before and night of the wedding) and take pics around the hotel, then stay throughout the wedding ceremony. We've also booked him to come back on the Wishes Cruise with us later on.

Congrats and happy planning! And there's no such thing as too many pics for a PJ. You and your DF look like such a fun couple!
Fulton's is a great location, I'm sure it will be wonderful. We went there for dinner for the first time in March and loved it, the food was awesome and the atmosphere if great too!
Looking forward to hearing more.

Hi :goodvibes
I'm always relieved to hear good things about Fultons. Although I've walked passed it and taken photos of it, I've never actually eaten there. Also, as we don't have time for a planning trip I feel like I'm going in blind!

I am interested in all your PJs!!!
I am just about to start mine as I have at last officially booked!!
I too am concerned that people will not be interested as it is:-
a) at the Swan
b) a vow renewal and not strictly a wedding.
I'll do a PJ anyway as I will enjoy doing it I think!!

I decied ages ago that I would wear a 1950's style tea dress to get married in. I love that style and it's more flattering for my body shape.
The first dress I fell in love with was from Vivienne of Holloway - at the bargain price of £85!!
http://i838.photobucket.com/albums/zz304/pipsqueek27/show_image_in_imgtag.jpg
Then I found these dresses at Dolly Couture:
http://i838.photobucket.com/albums/zz304/pipsqueek27/dolly-couture-wedding-dresses-bever.jpg
http://i838.photobucket.com/albums/zz304/pipsqueek27/verona-short-wedding-dress-new_1.jpg
So I've kind of bounced backwards and forwards between the three until last week when I found this on Etsy.
http://i838.photobucket.com/albums/zz304/pipsqueek27/il_430xN146657789.jpg
I'm totally in love with this dress. I emailed the seller and arranged to pay half now and half next year when I'll send her my measurements. I could wait until next year to pay a deposit but if I do that I'll start thinking about the other dresses again!
I'm a bit nervous as it's coming from America and I can't try it on until I've actually bought it. But I have tried on similar styles and they suit my pear shape. And I can always get it altered if need be.
I'm also considering an orange petticoat
http://i838.photobucket.com/albums/zz304/pipsqueek27/PSSTyleORANGEPetticoat.jpg
My wedding colours are orange, turquoise and lime. I really love tropical, bright shades and these are such happy colours. The orange petticoat might be too much.I guess I'll decide that nearer the time.
So what do you think?
Racey
07-19-2010, 08:22 AM
You have definitely picked the right dress.
Heres my reaction as i scrolled down teh pages:
"Thats Nice"
"Thats OK"
"Thats OK"
"Ohhhhhhh thats gorgeous"
and the idea of an orange petticoat sounds good to me - I love different coloured petticoats under wedding dresses of that style:thumbsup2

LOL, thanks guys. You all confirmed my decsion for me! I tried a few long dresses on - just to make Mum happy really. We both agreed that a tea length dress is more me and there is no chance in me tripping up. I am really clumsy!
So shoes. Real dilema here as I love heels, I just cannot walk in them (back to the clumsy thing!).
I picked these 2 pairs
http://i838.photobucket.com/albums/zz304/pipsqueek27/1249061850_main.jpg
http://i838.photobucket.com/albums/zz304/pipsqueek27/images.jpg
I think they are both really fun. The second pair are my favourites but I would have to order them online before I could try them on. They are from Rainbow Couture. The first pair are from Irregular Choice,I already tried them on and they were really comfy. Not sure about the silver detailing though.
Also I could get the heart ones dyed a different colour if I wanted. The mad bride in me is going "OOH ORANGE SHOES" lol.
Just don't know what to do really. I might keep looking for more shoe inspiration.
tinkerbell 766

I must admit that I prefer the second pair. I think they are lovely!!
I have Rainbow club shoes - they are called Scarlett.

Love the 50's style dress. Thats what my bridesmaid dress is wearing. A red one and i have bought her a white petticoat to be sewn in under it. It's such a fun dress.
I prefer your 2nd shoes. My bm will be wearing white ballet pumps, she is only 10 so don't want to put her in heels. x

07-20-2010, 01:51 PM
Love red and white together Rachy. I think you are right about the shoes, 2nd pair are much nicer. I'll probably see 100 more pairs of shoes that I like before the wedding.

Just a quick flower update.
I worked as a florist for 10 years and I still do weddings from home. Infact I'm doing flowers for my bosses daughter's wedding next month. I might post some pics up when they're done.
Anyway, I gave it so much thought and over the years I have wondered what I would choose for my bouquet. I decided that i would have to make it as I wouldn't be happy with anyone else making my flowers. So this kind of made it awkward as I know it would take me at least an hour to make, plus I'd have to find a florist blah blah. You get the idea?
So I've decided on a button bouquet! Something like this....
http://i838.photobucket.com/albums/zz304/pipsqueek27/il_430xN_99397380.jpg
I've already started making the "flowers" in my colours. So hopefully by next year I can pick out my favourites and put it all together. I'm also going to make buttonholes for Chris, the Mums and our 2 friends along a similar line.

Thank you for your kind words. I'm really pleased with how things are coming together. I want our wedding to be very bright and fun as that suits our personalities. Chris is very rarely serious and he brings out the child in me.
Although he current idea of getting married in a Captain America outfit is making me nervous. I really do hope this is one joke he doesn't follow through with.:rolleyes1

I love the button bouquet! It really goes with your dress, and sort of add a whimsical feel to the wedding. I completely understand how it must feel awkward to have someone else make your personal floral when you have plenty of experience and could do it the way you want. The button bouquet is a great solution! I am so excited to see pictures from your wedding already lol

Thank you:goodvibes yeah it would feel really odd. I think Disney Florists are wonderful and I've seen some amazing bouquets. I just know I would want to take a bouquet apart and remake it!
Whimsical theme is kind of what I'm going for. We are planning a Mad Hatters Tea Party themed at home reception (more about that later) and my button flowers will be a big part of that too.

Hi guys, I know I've been MIA from my own PJ for a few weeks (ahem) but I really didn't have much to update.
So I have kind of decided how I want my hair. I've been going backwards and forwards between up or down. I am worried about getting too warm in the Florida heat with a down do, buts as I would much prefer that i am going to go with it.
Here are some inspiration pics. What do you think ladies?
http://i838.photobucket.com/albums/zz304/pipsqueek27/Paloma-Faith-002.jpg
http://i838.photobucket.com/albums/zz304/pipsqueek27/imageshair.jpg
http://i838.photobucket.com/albums/zz304/pipsqueek27/untitled.jpg
I really like the 40's/50's style curls. I can't decided if I would need some sort of clip or flower detail. What do you think?
Also my bouquet has changed slightly. I fell across these images of brooch bouquets and completely fell in love with idea. So I have started buying brooches from ebay and costume jewellery shops to incorporate in with the buttons.
http://i838.photobucket.com/albums/zz304/pipsqueek27/imagesz.jpg
http://i838.photobucket.com/albums/zz304/pipsqueek27/imagesbrooch.jpg
I'll take some pics of the pieces I have so far later and post them up.
Chris is starting to get excited about all the plans and has realised he had better start saving some money! He very much lives in the present and getting him to think 12 months ahead is a nightmare!!
Last week he started looking at outfits for himself and once he got over the fact that I would NEVER be happy with him dressing as Captain America (he saw an outfit on ebay and wanted to buy it), he started looking at linen shirts and knee length shorts. He would just not be happy with wearing a suit as he gets too warm very quickly, even long trousers are out:rolleyes1.
He has seen these...
http://i838.photobucket.com/albums/zz304/pipsqueek27/BMLA0011-ST038-1.jpg
They also do them in an ivory/cream shade. I think these with a linen whort sleeved shirt and a pair of converse will be fine.
I know it's very casual, but as I am not wearing a long formal dress we should hopefully look ok together.

Would like to hear how you get on with your hair Rachel, have you booked a stylist? I suppose it will be fine as long as they hold long enough for the photos.

Thank you so much:goodvibes. I'm really looking forward to the food! It's ideal for us as my Mum and our friends don't eat meat but they love fish. And I can see plenty of meat on the menu for Chris and his Mum. Before we decided on Fultons I was having a real food dilema as I was trying to suit everyone. Things have worked out perfectly.

I'm so pleased to hear that mine is the first journal you've read. I smiled from ear to ear when I read your lovely post:hug: It's lovely to know that people are reading along with my planning. It makes it all the more exciting for me and I love getting your opinions on my ideas.
I guess our story is quite romantic:lovestruc When we eventually met face to face we both had that "this is the one" moment LOL. Chris maked me laugh every single day and I think that's so important in a relationship.

Good morning (9.30am in the UK):goodvibes
Not that much more to report at the moment. We are going to reserve our wedding rings this Saturday. Very excited about that! I think I will go with an 18ct white gold ring with diamonds, Chris fancies a white palladium ring. He's picked palladium as he's a mechanic and the jeweler told him it will wear better than gold. I'll post pics when we have made our final choice.
I'll tell you a little about my at home reception plans now:
As we are only taking our Mums and two friends with us, we decided an at home reception would be lovley for all our friends and family who aren't joining us. We bounced ideas around and we both decided a mad hatters tea party theme would be really fun and will fit in so well with our colour scheme.
So far we have a guest list of approximately 150, although I'm trying to shorten that as the venue we have picked has a maximum capacity of 150:scared1:
Here are a couple of pics of the venue:
http://i838.photobucket.com/albums/zz304/pipsqueek27/img_7979.jpg
http://i838.photobucket.com/albums/zz304/pipsqueek27/18.jpg
Check out that mad wallpaper! It's on 2 floors. The buffet and dining area will be upstairs and downstairs they have lovely big comfy sofas, a bar and the disco area. The mad wallpaper room is set up for a civil ceremony in this pic but that's the room where the sofas are normally set up.
Theming wise, I will be making centre pieces for all the tables. I can't decide between towers of oversized tea cups with flowers in them..or tea pots made out of florist foam and foliage. Now I know that second idea sounds mad (more mad than the first one? I hear you say!), but I saw some at a floral exhibition and they were amazing. If I can find the photo I took then I'll post it.
We are definately having a mad hatter cake, although they are a little harder to come across in the UK so I might have a go at making one. And I am also going to make about 150 cupcakes with eat me tags.
That's all for now. Gotta go to work!
Have a lovely day ladies:goodvibes

here are the pics of the teapots and arrangements I saw at a flower show. Let me know what you think of them. I think the spouts are a little too long on the teaouts but apart from that they are really fun.

So we organised our wedding rings this weekend. I was over the top excited as usual:yay: and Chris was calm excited. His over the top excitement came later when he bought a pair of Buzz and Woody potato heads in the Disney Store:rolleyes:
Here is my ring:
http://i838.photobucket.com/albums/zz304/pipsqueek27/7168.jpg
It's 18 carat white gold with diamonds.
Chris':
http://i838.photobucket.com/albums/zz304/pipsqueek27/13970.jpg
Big chunky palladium ring. He wanted a platinum ring as white gold would be too soft for his manual job (mechanic). However, the price was too hair raising so he went for a cross between platinum and titanium.
We've ordered them now so we have time to pay off in instalments and then collect them next year. I've never been a jewellery girl but I so love this ring and it looks great with my e ring.

Thank you Joanne. I LOVE LOVE LOVE my ring (Did I say that I love it?:lmao:).
They are both from Goldsmiths if you want to go and have a close up look at them.
We are using Tesco clubcard deals vouchers to help pay for them. The value of Tesco vouchers quadruples if you exchange them for Goldsmith vouchers on Tesco clubcard website. So we are furiously doing all our shopping in Tesco now. I just about murdered poor Chris when he came in with a bag load of Asda shopping tonight:rotfl2:
I'll admit we could have got something cheaper from another store but with the money we'll save with the vouchers we have got two beautiful rings.

Hi ladies :goodvibes
I'm feeling really groggy and under the weather today  (Moan over with), but I heard there was a wedding fayre on near me so off I trotted. Chris is working all weekend so I went on my own. Well, let me tell you, I felt like the bridal lepper! All the other brides to be had either their fiance or another relative or friend with them. Boy, did I ever stick out like a Billy no mates!! Not EVER doing that on my own again.
Anyway, good news is that I manages to find a great photographer for our at home reception. Initially I was going to put trust in friends and family...and then I remembered that I am the one who always takes the photographs at other peoples events so that just isn't going to work is it?
His name is Chris Lynn and he is based in my area. He made me laught from the minute I walked up to his stand and his photos are a mix of posed and candid which is perfect as I like the unexpected photos. He also does boudoir portraits which I might consider as a cheeky present for Chris. He can do 4 hours photography and will give me all the images on a disc for £400. Believe me, this is a great price for a UK photographer. So I've just got to take Chris to meet him now and we are on to a winner.
Good news number 2: I met a lovely cake lady. You may remember I was going to attempt my own cake, but she had the most fabulous 4 tier wedding cake that was all white with spots and stripes in lovely oranges and greens for £395, as we would only need 2 or 3 tiers it would be a little less for us. When I told Chris he said we should go for it as it would save me the extra pressure of making a cake (gosh I do love him!)
Here is a photo of a similar cake. Try and picture it without all the flowers:

Mine was heaving too. I was in and out of that place in about 30 minutes! there was so much stuff there that I just didn't need to look at that I whizzed around. Although I did get grabbed by a mad woman who tried to sell me a personalised poem:lmao:

So the latest instalment in the world of crazy wedding planning!
After months of planning a mad hatter tea party home receptiom, it has now drastically changed into a halloween themed event. Thank the Lord I didn't buy loads of tea pots or other such paraphinalia(sp) yet!
The reason for the change? Chris finally admitted he wasn't over the top with the whole tea party thing and he though everyone would enjoy a halloween bash much more, and seeing as the reception is on 29th October it all fits into place.
I am fine with this plan as I'm already thinking about carved pumpkins with flowers in and LED tea lights, orange orchids, a trick or treat candy bar and big orange lanterns hanging from the ceiling. Also, I can still havr the magical cake I swa as it has lots of orange icing on it so that still fits. And the clincher, Chris wants this cake topper:

Great minds think alike! I too changed my theme for my at home October reception. I originally planed of having a "Fairy Tale Wedding" and now I'm doing more of a Fall/Halloween theme. If you want to use pumpkins, but don't want to gamble on the real deal. I strongly suggest buying and carving craft pumpkins. They are made out of foam, but look real. I'm waiting until after Halloween here to see if they go on sale at local stores at all.
Just a thought! :)

That is such a great idea. I have never seen them in the UK but will have a search on the internet for some.
I have already started planning my reception theme with great enthusiasm. I too am hoping to pick up plenty of bargains after this years halloween. I have also picked out some great indoor inflatables on the Walmart website which I am considering buying and shipping over here.

LOL. Hi Susana.
I don't really have too much to add at this time. Just patiently awaiting the time when I can start booking Disney things like the fireworks cruise, dessert party and character meals. I don't think I can do this until 9 months before so still some time to wait.
We have however booked to stay at The Boardwalk the night before and night of the wedding. We decided we would spend the night before together as we already live together and neither of us sleep very well apart. We also thought it would make sense to stay there as Randy is doing our first look pics there ( yes I will be kicking Chris out of the room while I get ready!).
We booked it with Dreams Unlimited as I don't want to miss out on the AP discount rate should one arise. We were asigned Kathy as our agent and she seems really friendly and helpful. Fingers crossed for an AP discount though as it is a tad over our budget at the moment.
I'm also into Halloween craziness! Although it is becoming more popular in the UK, we still don't have all the amazing decorations that are available in America. So I have been looking at Walmart and Target websites for some ideas. Hopefully I can buy a few more party things while I'm there next year.
If you ladies know of any good Halloween websites I would realy appreciate it.
I have ordered a great little wooden sign from Etsy that says "Newly Webs" and our names and it has 2 cute little spiders on it. I'll post a pic when it arrives.
Oh I just remembered, I started "trying" to make our invites:rolleyes1. It's not going great.
Chris saw a flight ticket template and said, "you can do that can't you. Make some tickets as invites". So I'm trying, but I'm not the best at using Word or phtoshop, I'm kind of bumbling through it. Thank God I only have to make 4! I also bought some vintage Florida postcards and some scrapbooking paper tickets to try and tie it all together. My idea was to use a black pocketfold envelope with orange ribbon around and then all the bits and peices inside. However, I kind of lost my marbles a bit in hobbycraft and bought pocketfolds that are far too small for the flight ticket and postcard.:headache: I'm an idiot!!! So back to the drawing board. I'll post some pics later of the things I have so far.
Hey for an non update that wasn't bad was it!

Hi ten of us, thanks for reading. When are you there?
Mrs Darcy, funny you should ask as we were looking at song ideas on the internet last only last night!
Chris loves a song called Seaside by the kooks. It's quite special to us as the lyrics fit around our lives when we met. Chris lived at the seaside and I was a city girl at the time.
We are having a dj for our reception at home and cd music for the ceremony.
Here are some other songs on our list:
Take that - greatest day
Dolly and Kenny - Islands in the stream (he loves this one)
Savage Garden - I knew I loved you before I met you
Coldplay - Yellow
Adam Sandler - Grow old with you
Michael Buble (or Micky Bubble as chris calls him!) - Everything
I am leaning towards Everything for a first dance. I'd also like savage Garden for walking "down the aisle" do boats have aisles? you know what I mean though! Chris really wants greatest day for when we are married. It's a really uplifting song and very in the moment. I strongly recommend a you tube listen if you don't know it.
Any other song ideas? I'm really open to anything as you can tell from what we have so far.

And I must thank Joanne (Tinkerbell 766) again for the fabulous logo you made for us with our names. I photoshopped it to turn it orange and it looks great on the invites.

We came up with the wording ourselves. We wanted to keep it sounding very fun and informal. And everyones ticket has their name and role on it eg, best man, mother of the bride etc.
I'm really happy with them.

Claire, I am just catching up on your PJ, but it sounds fabulous. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the 50's tea dress and especially the shoes with the hearts on them, they remind me so much of Cinderella's wedding shoes, very princessy! The button bouquet is so unique, I had never seen anything like it! Autumn weddings are amazing, I will actually be on my Disneymoon the week of your wedding in WDW!! ;) I can't wait to read more!! Oh and an orange petticoat is definitely awesome, mine is pink and blue! So fun to add a touch of color.

I agree the shoes are very Cinderella-ish!
And I also agree about adding touches of color. I loved my wedding but now as I look back (gee I'm sounding like an old married woman and I've only been married for 6 months lol), I wish I added a little color to my wedding dress/accessories in some way.

Love the tickets, I may have to consider making those ....
I also love the dress and the orange petticoat. I plan on having a tea length dress with a pink petticoat. Of course, all that may change when I finally do go dress shopping and see what looks good on me! :goodvibes But that's the plan for now.
And the heart shoes - TO DIE FOR!!!!!!

Hi ladies.
Wow I really have been MIA for ages. I guess I just didn't have anything to update. It feels like all systems go now though as we are only 8 paydays away! (this is what i keep saying to Chris when he wants to buy something rediculous and expensive!)
If anyone is still with me I'll give you a few updates.
So we are finally able to book the venue for our at home reception. We have an appointment next weekend to meet with the owner and sort out number, buffet etc. Also, I have made an appointment with a lovely lady who makes wedding cakes from home. I met her at a wedding fair and showed her my halloween cake photo and she seemed very positive about being able to replicate it.
Here's the photo:
http://i838.photobucket.com/albums/zz304/pipsqueek27/wonky20cake982192783.jpg
We are going to get a topper from Etsy or get something in disney, we havn't decided yet.
I'm still looking at shoes. I just can't decide between ivory or orange. Either way they have to look good as I'm wearing a tea length dress. I'm also on a big health kick now as I send my dress measurements off in May. I'm aiming to lose 3 stone before then so it's more time in the gym and less time on the DIS :sad2:
Other news. We are now down to just 4 of us for the wedding. Originally my closest friend was coming with his partner, but due to a row (caused by the unreasonable partner) we are now down to 4. I'm very sad about this and still a litlle shocked by the events that took place over Christmas. It seems like a 20 year long friendship has ended for a petty reason but hey ho. Life goes on regardless right? So it's just us and the Mums now. Because of this change of events I have decided not to book a dessert party at Epcot (I was prepared to pay the excess for 6 people but not for 4) and I might book the Wishes dessert party instead in MK.
Oh I almost forgot. I have decided to go with Beaute Speciale for our hair and make up. I emailed them this afternoon and got a really quick response with all the paperwork for me to fill in. I'm really excited about this but nervous as I won't have time for a trial. I think I'll probably do a hair trial at home and take lots of pics with me.
That's all for now folks. Will let you know how the cake chat goes.

Good morning,
Just turned the readio on and they are playing "The Candyman" by Sammy Davis Jnr. What a great morning wake up. Me and the cats are having a little dance around the kitchen!!
So just wanted to drop in and say how excited I am about tomorrow. We are going to bookour cake in the morning. I really hope there will be cake samples to try. I'm hoping for red velvet and I really do hope Chris likes it. He can be do finicky with new tastes:rotfl2:
Also, I have found a new venue for our at home party. It's called Studio Bar and it's almost on the sea front! The room is very modern looking with purple accents and the dance floor is frosted glass and is on the upper floor - how cool!! They offer a great hot and cold buffet and have said we can do ANYTHING we want decoration wise. Ooh I can feel a lot of pumpkins coming on.
I was looking for candy buffet vases on the internet last night and found some fabulous ones on Save on crafts, then realised they don't ship to UK (boo!). I can order through an international shipping company but the fees are huge:scared1: Back to the drawing board then.

Hi Mrs Darcy. So glad you are still with me:)
I think I'm going orange. I know it's a bit mad but I'm more likely to wear them again that if I bought white or cream.
I've booked tickets to go to a big wedding fair in March so I'm hoping to get my shoes then.

So the weekend went EXTREMELY well. Almost had to pinch myself at how smoothly things were organised.
The cake lady is amazing. She had researched my ideas before we got there and had a photo of the same cake saved on her laptop! She is going to make it the same size but it will be orange icing instead of black as a base, then alternating tiers will have either black polka dots or black stripes. She is going to add 4 black cats to represent our fluffy babies and lots of...wait for it.....MICKEY PUMPKINS!!!!! I love this lady! She completely understood what we wanted and she just ran with it. I think she is excited to make something so different from the normal wedding cake that brides tend to go for in the UK.
So after 2 hours chatting we moved on to the venue. The owner is amazing and nothing was too much trouble. We can decorate the room however we like and he is laying on a really nice buffet for us (Chris requested bacon sandwiches and fries to be added - I was ashamed:rolleyes1). He also said that, as our party is on halloween weekend, all the staff will be dressed in costumes and he will also decorate the downstairs bar as well. I can't believe how well things worked out.:goodvibes

Just came across you PJ and I love all your plans so far!
I think it's great you're using tesco points towards your wedding rings. We couldn't afford an engagement ring when DF proposed but shortly afterwards there was the big offer of extra points on johnsons baby products. Well it turns out baby powder and wipes are a lot cheaper than engagement rings ;) I think we spent near enough £100 on unneeded baby products and used the points to get my ring. So I'm glad to know we're not the only ones! lol I think we've still got some bottles of talc in the back of a cupboard somewhere! :lmao:

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: That's so true! We did the same at xmas. Did as much food and present shopping there as we could to get the points built up. I think we will have managed to pay for half the rings in vouchers.
My at home reception/party invitations came through the post this past week. I altered a template they offered and ordered them through Vistaprint. I can't believe how well they have come out!

I think they go really well with our halloween theme without being too over the top and in your face halloween. The phpt doesn't pick up the colours very well as that yellowy looking background is actually a soft green and the orange is very vivid.

So sorry I have been missing so long. So much has been going on here.
Bad news first; I BROKE MY LEG:scared1:. I am so angry with myself. All I did was step off the kerb outside my house and I tripped in a bit of loose paving and down I went. Luckily Chris was there and he whisked me off to hospital straight away. So I've done a real number on my ankle and I'm in plaster up to my knee for 6 weeks. AAAAARGH! I've been told I have to keep it elevated as much as possible or it'll have to be pinned instead, so here I am...stuck on the sofa...grumpy! The first few days were particularly bad and I started having panic attacks and bad anxiety, thankfully that's calmed down a bit now. It's unlike me to panic so I don't really know what has caused them to come on, I can only assume it's because I'm out of control at the moment. Also I was doing really well losing weight and exercising in preparation for sending off my measurements for the dress, so thats all gone out the window too. Hopefully I'll get back to normal by mid May, then I'll have about 3 weeks before I have to contact my dressmaker. So it's a sparrows diet for me then!
Anyway, thats enough of me feeling sorry for myself. Chris is off work today so I have stolen his laptop! I can't sit up at the PC yet so no surfing time for me :headache:. So I'm making the most of today and getting some wedding ordering done.
I've just ordered my orange petticoat from an ebay seller, it was half the price of the original site I was looking at, but it seems to be the exact same skirt - bargain. Also I've ordered loads of brooches for my bouquet, most are coming from China and a few from around the UK. They are all very sparkly and beautiful.
Before my accident Mum and I went to a huge wedding show where I ordered my shoes. I've gone for a classic ivory shoe with a 3 inch heel. Hopefully I'll be able to post a picture in a few days. I'm so glad I didn't buy a higher heel now as apparently I have weakened my ankle (this is the 3rd time I've broken the same one!). I am such a clumsy girly!
Mum has her whole outfit sorted now, dress, shoes, bag and two pretty velvet orchids to clip in her hair. Chris has also decided he is now wearing pinstripe trousers and a matching waitscoat with a white shirt and orange cravate. He will be the death of me - he has changed his mind sooo many times:goodvibes. He has even got his shoes sorted out, a pair of designer Nicholas Deakins. He bought them purely because they have got "Deakins" written on the side and that is Chris' surname. He thinks Randy Chapman will get some great pics of them :rotfl: Again, I will post pics soon.
So sorry for the long winded post guys, Just had so much to share!

Hi there Princess Ariel:yay:
I have been to a few local shows because of our at home reception, they were all a bit bleugh though! The best was the National Wedding show at Birmingham NEC - but only for all the freebies and the chance to try on loads of dresses without any pressure to buy! It was more a day out for Mum really so she could be with me when I bought something (shoes) as most of my buys have been online.I honestly wouldn't go to anymore though, too many crying brides (finding THE DRESS) and bored looking grooms!
How wonderful we are getting married at the same time! Have you started a PJ yet? Don't worry about being organised, you still have plenty of time yet.

Good luck with the ADRs girls!!!
Talking about tea makes me think about the things that my DD was asked whilst working as a seasonal CM at WDW (MK Adventureland). These are all genuine questions put to her by guests from the USA!!
Do you ride around in horse and carriages or do you have cars?
Do you know Prince William?
Did you ever hear about 9/11 in England?
Do you have to practise that lovely accent?
And lastly, do you really drink nothing else but tea?

I did get badgered by a guy in Epcot on our last holiday that insisted that I would know his mate Dave who lives in London because I am from England. Lovely guy didn't seem to understand that the chances were slim to none.
So I'm thinking of booking an ADR for Cafe Cape May for breakfast on our wedding day. That way we can have a little character magic on the big day, plus both Vhris and I love the character interaction that you get at the meals. Beaute Speciale are due at 10:30 so I thought maybe 9:00 would give us time to get back over to the Boardwalk Hotel. What do you think guys?
I'm also going to book Cinderellas Table for MNSSHP night as we are going to go in our wedding attire, so I thought a special meal would add to the evening.
For the final morning I'll book Chef Mickeys and I'm toying with either Mickeys Backyard BBQ or Hoop De Doop. Any advice will be greatly appreciated :goodvibes

I've taken a few pics of the brooches I've bought on ebay. This is just a small selection of them. I think I'm up to about 30 now. I think I'll need around 50 for the finished bouquet.

This is a huge brooch and one of my favourites.
I have some more with amber in and some turquoise brooches...but they are upstairs and I can't get up there without assistance at the moment:rotfl::rotfl:

Hi Claire
Just wanted to say I am so subbing to this thread.
I love your idea of a button bouquet! How unique and great to treasure for ever.
Have only read first page so far, hoping to catch up over next 3 nightshifts!
I am so jealous!
Can't wait to get to work tonight!

Definitely Joanne. I'm almost doen with the collecting. Just need to visit hobbycraft now for the ribbon and finishing touches. Have to wait for plaster to come off for that trip though as I can't seem to spend longer than 40 minutes with my foot down at the moment - all my toes swell into little fat sausages!
Anyway, the good news is that it's due to come off in 3 weeks, so I'm on the home stretch now.

HI Nikki, thank you so much for reading. Although you've probably guessed by now that I'm such a changeable girl and I'm now making a brooch bouquet! I'm not ruling out the buttons though, I thought I might use them on some halloweeny bunting for our reception. :goodvibes

:mad:I have some exciting news today, well I was excited. It doesn't take much at the minute as I'm still stuck on the sofa with an elevated leg!
We have decided on our wedding reading. Originally we were going with the velveteen rabbit (thank you Joanne ) but Chris put the boot in as he thought it was too long . Well it is his wedding too and he has to be happy with everything, so I started the search again. Then last night I just fell across a book by Edward Monkton called A Lovely Love Story. Well after lots of laughter we were in total agreement that this is the one:
The fierce Dinosaur was trapped inside his cage of ice.
Although it was cold he was happy in there. It was, after all, his cage.
Then along came the Lovely Other Dinosaur.
The Lovely Other Dinosaur melted the Dinosaur’s cage with kind words and loving thoughts.
I like this Dinosaur thought the Lovely Other Dinosaur.
Although he is fierce he is also tender and he is funny.
He is also quite clever though I will not tell him this for now.
I like this Lovely Other Dinosaur, thought the Dinosaur.
She is beautiful and she is different and she smells so nice.
She is also a free spirit which is a quality I much admire in a dinosaur.
But he can be so distant and so peculiar at times, thought the Lovely Other Dinosaur.
He is also overly fond of things.
Are all Dinosaurs so overly fond of things?
But her mind skips from here to there so quickly thought the Dinosaur.
She is also uncommonly keen on shopping.
Are all Lovely Other Dinosaurs so uncommonly keen on shopping?
I will forgive his peculiarity and his concern for things, thought the Lovely Other Dinosaur.
For they are part of what makes him a richly charactered individual.
I will forgive her skipping mind and her fondness for shopping, thought the Dinosaur.
For she fills our life with beautiful thoughts and wonderful surprises. Besides,
I am not unkeen on shopping either.
Now the Dinosaur and the Lovely Other Dinosaur are old.
Look at them.
Together they stand on the hill telling each other stories and feeling the warmth of the sun on their backs.
And that, my friends, is how it is with love.
Let us all be Dinosaurs and Lovely Other Dinosaurs together.
For the sun is warm.
And the world is a beautiful place
Do you love it? We had to have something slightly humerous but with feeling and emotion and this is definitely it. And Chris loves it too!:dance3::dance3:
Other news; today I booked our fireworks cruise YAY!! I almost went into bridezilla meltdown when I realised that I had missed the 180 day mark and thought that they would all be booked. Luckily I got one from the GF with decorations on the boat and the music piped in too. I told the lady it is for our wedding although I don't suppose that will make any difference to the decorations used. I also booked some character meals while I was on a role.
Morning of the wedding I booked Cafe Cape May just for Chris and me (the Mums will be at the villa until 10am so I booked it for 8:45).
The last morning with the Mums I booked a character breakfast in AK. I think it will give them both a fun ending to their trip.
Finally, I booked Crstal Palace for the MNSSHP night (hopefully) as a surprise for Chris, although I think I will change this to Cinderella's Royal Table as we are going to go in our wedding clothes.
Phew, sorry for such a long update:rolleyes1.Hope you're still with me!

Claire sweetie - I love it!!!! When I was looking for a reading, I too looked at this one. The only reason I decided against it, was because my daughter, who is doing the reading, will be nervous and with all the references to 'Dinosaur' and 'lovely other Dinosaur', I thought she may trip up on nerves and put a 'lovely other Dinosaur' where there should be a 'Dinosaur' and vice versa. Then it would all get confusing and loose it's meaning. i am sure whoever is doing your reading will cope really well with it, but I am not sure that DD would have done!!
Congrats on booking the Wishes cruise and the ADRs!!! You are going to have such a wonderful time!!!

Thank you Joanne. I couldn't believe it when Chris actually agreed. Sometimes he can be very awkward!
I'm not sure who will be reading it yet. I know it won't be me as I wouldn't get through it without bawling! Our planner has suggested that the Reverends wife could do it as she always accompanies him on weddings.
I still don't know who we have as yet as our planner is being a bit shy in giving me his name. I was given the option of one who would just turn up on the day or one who would like to meet us first. I opted for the latter as I would at least like to have had a brief chat before or wedding.

I hadn't even thought of a wedding reading. I don't think Df would go for that. Yours is really nice because it's light hearted and meaningful, also it'll put smiles on everyones faces.

Found your planning journal tonight and have sat and read the whole thing!! I love your love story, and I LOVE your dress. I've always like Fulton's, I think you'll be really happy with your event there...and their food is SO good! You'll have really beautiful pictures too, I think that boat is just gorgeous.
I love your brooch bouquet idea, I think it will turn out gorgeous. Sorry to hear about your ankle--that is NOT fun.
I love your halloween theme elements, it sounds like your at home reception will be lovely.
Thank you for sharing your plans with us!

It's lovely to know that people are interested in my plans as it's not a DFTW.
I'm really excited about Fultons, although I've never even been on the boat. I have seen some nice wedding pictures on there and we have added some floral arrangements and a white carpet/ aisle runner to our plans to make it look a little more decorative.
I'm so bored at the minute with my leg in plaster. I'm stressing about how much weight I must be putting on while I just sit here. 2 more weeks though and I hope to be whizzing around again!

Just a few small updates to make. We have picked our music. I asked the planner how many songs we needed and she said just 2! I thought we would need way more than this but she only plays 1 as I come in and then one at the end, we can also have some background music while we have picks taken on the deck if we wish. I was a little bit huffy about this at first as we had so many song ideas but I guess as there aren't any bridesmaids or guests apart from the Mums, there is little point for loads of different entrance music.
So my entrance with Mum: All you need is love (from Love Actually). We both love this version and the film so much, it seemed the perfect choice.
End of wedding: The greatest day by Take That. This is a wonderful rousing song that sums up how we feel about the day.
Notice no Disney songs? Chris and I couldn't agree on which songs to pick so we went for non Disney that we could agree on. I would have loved Zip a dee do dah though for a bit of fun!
I also picked the piano instrumental music from Forest Gump to be played as background music while we have pics taken and I would have liked this playing quietly in the background during the ceremony, but I'm not sure if this is possible and my planner hasn't emailed back to say yes or no .
Somtimes she just doesn't answer my requests which is starting to bug me a little. I'm sure she is busy but hey! I've booked a wedding with her! I think I'll leave it until after Easter and then give her a bit of a bump with my unanswered queries.

Claire sweetie - I love the music choices!!!
I am sorry that you are having issues with your planner bot getting back to you. I am relieved to say that I have never had that problem with my planner, Karen who is always quick to respond to e-mails. I have, however, been waiting a week for a response from Rev Tim rgarding the rough order of service, which is frustrating as I cannot get my Order of Service programmes finished until he responds and with just over a week to go before we leave, I need to crack on with them. I realise he is probably busy with it being Easter, but it is really quite urgent now. I will e-mail again over the bank holiday and see. It is so frustrating!!!!
Still waiting to see this finished bouquet!!!! Can't wait to see how beautiful it is!!

Only a week until you go :scared1:. I'm so excited for you Joanne. Hopefully he is just very busy with Easter. It is so annoying when you don't get a response back, I would definitely chivvy him up a bit so you can get cracking on the order of service.
I haven't even started my bouquet yet I'm ashamed to say. I'm still awaiting a few more brooches that I ordered from ebay and I won't get them until next week now because of all the bank holidays. Also I need to go to a craft store for some beading and wires - and I STILL can't go anywhere '*** of the plastered leg :headache:. Hopefully it will be made in the next few weeks and I'll post some pics straight away.

Hi kristi,
Thank you! I know it is sooooo close now! We are going to MNSSHP on the Tuesday after the wedding hopefully. I think thats the 11th October. We are really looking forward to this as we can wear our wedding clothes, although Chris is unsure about wearing his shirt and waistcoat (vest) incase he gets too hot. Might have to find him an alternative, maybe one of those tuxedo t shirts:rotfl:

Ok so I feel like a real meany now. My planner emailed me last night . She is lovely and I think she is just very busy and I am just very impatient!!
She said that it may not be ideal having the instrumental playing quietly during the ceremony as our Officiate doesn't use a microphone so it all depends on how loud his voice carries as to who can hear him. But there are only 4 of us altogether so I'm sure it will be fine - although Mum is deaf in one ear as she reminded me last night, luckily it's her good ear that we be on the officiates side :rotfl:. Anyway we are going to decide on the day about the instrumental which is great.
We are also having a white carpet up the aisle as well as 2 large flower arrangements. Originaally I really wanted a custom painted aisle runner but Carrie (planner) advised it may blow about on the deck so she has a white carpet runner to use instead. That and the flowers will make the deck look a little fuller. I'm a bit worried that our lack of guests will make us look lost so I wanted a few things to make up for the lack of people.
Other news - and this is a biggie - I've changed my dress!!!!
I've only payed the deposit so far and send fmy measurements at the end of May.Well the more I looked at it the more I started panicing about a potential Janet Jackson wardrobe malfunction (without the peircing lol). The Lily dress really scoops down low at the front as well as the back and I have been having a hard time finding underwear that won't show and I may have spent all day looking down to check I hadn't "escaped".
So after much discussion with Mum playing devils advocate, I have changed to the Merilyn dress. I emailed the dressmaker and she agreed that for a larger framed lady the Merilyn will offer more support up top and I will fell much more confident.
Here is the original dress (Lily)

As you know (*** I've harped on about it enough!) I can't exercise at the moment (cursed leg). Chris, bless him, seems to think junk food will cheer me up. Then Mum came to see me this week and brought easter eggs. Ok so I thought 1 egg wouldn't kill me, until Chris' Mum rang to say she is popping over in the morning with....easter eggs! AAAAAAARRGH!!!!
I've GOT to lose 4 inches off my hips for my dress to fit and I won't be able to exercise for another 2 weeks at least. Thankfully I will be able to shop so no more junk food. Also, I bought a shake a weight so I can work on my upper body and arms while I'm sat on the sofa. Gotta do something while I'm stuck here!

I've really enjoyed reading your PJ and can't wait for more. We are getting married on the 13th of October and originally wanted the 6th, but it wasnt available. we could have been almost date twins! :rotfl:
Hope you have a fabulous day, and I can't wait for more updates!
Thank you for loving everything . I might come and stalk your wedding as we are still there on the 13th. I might hide behind a tree :rotfl:
Now to the bouquet. I have read a few tutorials online. I just typed "how to make a brooch bouquet" into Google. The best method seems to be to give each brooch a double legged florist wire and tape with florist tape. Then arrange them through either some chicken wire or some silk flowers. I've attached a link that may help you but I think when I make mine I might also do a photo tutorial and post it here. Why don't you buy some cheap brooches and give it a go?

Cool...thanks for the info, I'll check it out! By all means, come stake out the wedding! I wish that I were getting to WDW earlier, so that I could come see yours too!
My birthday is the 19th, so we are staying later instead of coming early so we can celebrate that. It's the big 3-0! :scared1: :rotfl2: Talk to you soon!

How lovely, a double celebration trip! You'll have to get a birthday badge as well as a just married badge.

Hi! I just stumbled across and read your whole PJ. I love everything you have planned (you are very creative!) and your wedding is going to be amazing and very unique!
It's been a really nice change to read about a non DFTW wedding, and also great to see another overseas bride :thumbsup2
I think we have similar tastes so I have been very inspired by a lot of your ideas! We really want to have something a bit different too, and will be doing the destination wedding (just the 2 of us) followed by the at home reception. We both love Christmas so are hoping to incorporate that somehow since our wedding will be around November/December
I have totally fallen in love with your dress! I just checked out the seller's Etsy page (I found your PJ through the Etsy thread) and she has some gorgeous dresses on there! They are exactly the type of dresses I have been looking for (I definitely want something tea length and 50s style) and I have been really struggling to find something similar over here. I've been a bit worried about buying online though so it's reassuring to hear you have had a good experience so far and I will look forward to seeing how your dress turns out, and might buy something from the same seller if all goes well! Do you happen to know if she is flexible with colours? I would love something pink if possible..
Good luck with the rest of your planning and look forward to reading more! :goodvibes

Hi Lulu83,
Thank you for reading my PJ. I feel honoured to think I have given you some inspiration for your big day
A Christmas theme sounds truly magical. You could really go to town with decorations at your reception and have a winter wonderland themed event. I'd love to read more about your ideas.
Ellena is lovely to work with and has answered all of my questions quickly. I don't think she works in other colours but it wouldn't hurt to ask her about customising a design for you. I paid my final amount to her this week so hopefully my dress will arrive by July/August. As soon as it comes I will post some pics. I have been very nervous about buying a dress without trying it on first, but I know this style suits me and her feedback is all very possitive. I'm prepared for the fact that I will probably have to get some alterations, but most wedding dresses need some alterations so that shouldn't be a problem.
If you don't have any success with Ellena it might be worth having a shop around on Etsy as there are lots of dressmakers on there who you might be able to work with. Good luck :goodvibes

Hi, I found your trip report from a link in your signature...wow. I love all your wedding plans so far. Your choice of dress is beautiful, and with the petticoat it will be a unique edge which will make your wedding even more personal. The idea to have a Halloween inspired reception when you get back is fab especially with the orange and black theme such as the cake and pumpkins :lovestruc
I think orange shoes dyed the same colour as your petticoat would look amazing in photos... and imagine a photo-shopped black and white photo with your shoes and petticoat left orange... :lovestruc ... getting a little carried away but there's an idea for you.
I hope your leg is getting better... I completely understand why you felt panicky when you couldn't move as much as usual, I think I'd feel the same if i ever broke anything.
Looking forward to seeing your next update :goodvibes

Hi Taylor :goodvibes. Thank you for reading my pj. I'm getting so excited now as it's just not that far off until we get married. I see from your ticker that you don't have long to wait until your jolly holiday either, I bet you're bouncing off the walls with excitement!
I love your photo idea, infact I have photoshop so I can see I'll be spending hours playing around with pictures after the trip. I planted out the pumpkin babies today so hopefully they will all grow for our party. I bought some white pumpkin seeds as well as orange for a bit of contrast, I really hope they work out well and the cats don't dig them up :scared1:
Thank you for the leg love :rotfl:. The plaster came off on Thursday so I'm learning to walk again! I've got physio tomorrow so hopefully I can get back to normal soon. I've never been so excited about getting back in the gym!

Unfortunately because Christmas is in summer here, and often around 35-40 deg Celcius a beach (or desert!) theme would probably be more appropriate! (I can honestly say I really DO dream about a white Christmas!)
That's great that you have had such a positive experience buying your dress off Etsy, I'm sure it will be perfect! I've only recently found Etsy and I had no idea they even sold wedding dresses, I could see myself easily becoming addicted to the site.. (and spending way too much money!)

Ooh do start a pj. I love reading them, although I am a bit rubbish at commenting :headache:, must make more of an effort with that!
After our last message I went back and had a look at Ellena coutures shop and she does have some coloured dresses, so I think maybe she would be able to do something for you :goodvibes
Maybe you could still do a winter wonderland theme. If funds allowed you could hire a snow machine!

Oh I LOVE your bouquet!I don't know how I missed it. I haven't even started mine. I've got most of the brooches, just waiting on 3 from China. I've bought most of them from Ebay, a few turned out to be rubbish but on the whole I've been pretty lucky. I'm thinking of turning one particular beauty into a hair clip.
Did you make yours with a hydrangea head as the base? I can't decide if I will use green orchids, hydrangeas or shape a frame with wire mesh.

I got the bulk of mine from China as well haha, you can't beat .99 a brooch with free shipping :rotfl: I used purple hydrangeas as the base for mine, the directions that I used said to use green, but I was afraid they would show through and I figured if they show through the brooches I wanted it to match my wedding colors and sure enough as I was making it they showed through so I am glad I ended up doing the purple ones. The green hydrangeas do give the illusion of stems underneath so I think you could go either way :thumbsup2 I think orchids would look really nice as well. With the hydrangeas though you might have more of a filling in effect, but I really think either way it would work out well for you. I have heard of people using the wire mesh and that works really well too, it really is up to what you feel would be the best for you, I can't wait to see yours as it comes along.

Just a couple of little updates today. First off, I felt inspired to do something after seeing Bickimooks lovely brooch bouquet, so I dug out a bag af amber bits that I bought weeks ago and some plain brooch backs and rouhly glued the bits of amber on. I only bought the amber to have a play with (it was really cheap on good ol' ebay!) and I'm quite pleased with the results.
http://i838.photobucket.com/albums/zz304/pipsqueek27/DSCF2889.jpg
I've got enough amber left to make about another 30 brooches and I think they'll add a real spark of colour into the bouquet.
Also this came in the post today:
http://i838.photobucket.com/albums/zz304/pipsqueek27/DSCF2893.jpg
I ordered one for Chris' Mum too. They were free from Vista print! I got a voucher email from them as I'd ordered the invites for the party from them, all I had to pay was the postage which was about $4. I think they're great!

I'm desperate to get the bouquet made now! Chris has agreed to drive me to our nearest hobbycraft on saturday so I can get all the bits and bobs. It's 40 minutes to the nearest one so it's not a case of just popping own the road. Living in a seaside town is ok but I really want to get back to a city. Your cake sounds amazing! I can't wait to see pictures of all those wonderful colours together. Hi Natalie, thank you for asking :goodvibes. Starting to feel a little better. Going into work is good as I'm getting the ol' brain back in gear. I've noticed the foot swells up to about 4 times its normal size in the evening :scared1: but if I balance it up on a few cushions higher than my hip then it starts to go down. Chris is now calling me bigfoot
Hope you've managed to sort out the extra guests problem, it must be so awkward.

Hi Claire, glad you are starting to feel a bit better! Think it sounds like a good idea to keep your foot elevated!
The extra guest situation isn't getting any better unfortunately, so much so that I think we're just gonna have to suck it up and have them at the wedding if we want to avoid any bad feeling on the day (I was informed the other day that one of them has already bought her outfit :rolleyes1). I think it's the fact that they just assumed that they could come that has upset me the most. I just wish they could have had the courtesy to atleast ask us. But there you go, wouldn't be a wedding without a bit of a drama would it? Thanks for asking Claire :goodvibes

Hi Allie, sorry I've not been on for a while, not had too much to report really so didn't want to bore anyone with useless ramblings!
My dress arrived in the post yesterday. Had to pay £112 customs charges on it . I was too scared to try it on at first as I thought it was gonna be too small...but WINNER, it fits!!!!! Actually the top is too saggy so I'm going to wait until August and then get it altered. I won't post any pics incase Chris has a nosy but it is lovely. I haven't got the petticoat yet but I can see it will look fab. I was so worried about buying a dress from Etsy but the risk has paid off.
We are both in festival mode at the moment as we are going to Glastonbury Festival in just over a week. Camping in a field for 5 nights watching some great bands and hopefully avoiding the rain! So we are thinking more about that at the moment. I am worried about my ankle as it's still not healed completely and I've got a fair amount of hiking to do so I'm wearing walking boots everywhere at the moment to get used to them - work think I've gone nuts! Hopefully all the festival antics will help me lose a few more pounds as well as I never tend to eat much when I'm there (toilets are a difficult issue!) plus all the walking will keep me fit.
Oh yes I forgot, I organised my hen party. A small group of us are going to the races for the day! We are all going to dress like ladies and drink champagne while having a flutter on the horses! I wasn't going to bother with a hen party but the girls at work forced my hand. Anyway there is a band on after the races (McFly for you British ladies) so I'm sure we will have a ball.
That's all for now folks :)

Custom charges - aren't they just super, lol I forgot about that when I had a package shipped from disney last year. I had it shipped to my parents address because we didn't think we'd be back in time to recieve it at ours. My mum was not impressed
I'd love to go to glastonbury, hope you have a great time. What bands are you hoping to see?
Your hen party sounds good, you'll have to take lots of piccies - I've never been to the races and McFly on your hen party = added bonus.

Yeah I knew there would be custom charges but no so steep! I was really shocked when I got the Parcelforce letter. Still, I did save a fortune on the dress I wanted as opposed to buying a similar design in the UK.
We are really looking forward to Glastonbury. This will be my 4th time and Chris' 3rd. It always lands on my birthday weekend too so I'll be celebrating with a can of Magners cider and a dance in the mud! I'm really hoping the rain stays away this year. We are hoping to see Coldplay, Beyonce, Tinchy Stryder, Jessie J and Elbow. There are so bands on that we tend to wander around and try and catch things we would never normally pay to see. I'll post some pics when we get back. If you ever get chance to go you should, it's an amazing experience.
I've never been horse racing either so I'm looking forward to the day. I'm thinking of buying a tea dress from Vivienne of Holloway and a nice hat!

I'm so jealous that you are going to Glastonbury again!! I don't have any friends that would like to sit in the mud for days and suffer the toilet situation... I need to find new friends for next year :rotfl: or start hinting to my friends about it... after a year of pestering they might say yes ;)
You will love the races, I went a few years ago now but had a fab time, the atmosphere is great :thumbsup2 And McFly...:lovestruc
Hope you have lots of fun, and I hope for some sun for your Glastonbury trip :wizard:

Hi taylor, you definitely need to persuade your friends. The toilets aren't great but the possitives of the event far outway the negatives. Even with the rain and mud I still have a great time. Praying for sun this year :rolleyes1
Can't wait to see McFly! It was my bosses idea as she is totally in love with Tom :rotfl:

Hi guys,
Sorry I haven't posted for a while on my PJ but I haven't really has anything to add.
This week we have started steaming ahead with things and I have some pics of an almost finished brooch bouquet to show you. It's sat in a flowerpot at the moment until I finish the handle but I hope you can get an idea of how it will look.

I've taken pics from several different angles so you can see the full effect. I used about 30 brooches altogether and I made it on top of a base of green and orange orchids. So far it's taken me about 5 hours but I thinks it's been worth all the hard work.
Let me know what you think please as I do value your opinions (that's if anyone is still with me - I am ashamed at my lengthy absence!!)

Ah thank you so much ladies. It's good to get another opinion, I have been messing about with it so much I couldn't make an objective opinion about it.
My petticoat is on the way from my lovely Etsy lady, I cannot wait to see it. I opted for all white with an orange satin ribbon edging. I plan to finish the bouquet with orange ribbon to match. The only problem I have at the minute is with shoes. I can't walk in my wedding shoes as my ankle has not completely healed yet, so I think I'm going to have to buy a back up pair, maybe wedges. I know they aren't as cute as a small heel but I don't want to risk feeling miserable in uncomfortable shoes - and I'm sure Randy will have us hiking all over the place! If anyone can recommend a nice pair of white wedges that aren't over 3" then please send me a link :thumbsup2

Hello Claire....been avidly reading your PJ for the last hour!
OMG THIS BOUQUET!!!! I simply love it!! This is so incredible.
Btw, do you plan to take your dress, bouquet etc as a carry-on? (as I'm expecting that you're flying over here). Hopefully your TSA-equivalent is not as hysterical as our own TSAs here!
Keep the pics coming!

I would check out dyeable shoes. There are many places to find them online, but you can start with http://www.dyeableshoestore.com/. There are dozens of different shoe styles in all different heel heights and styles. Good luck!

Hi and thank you so much for reading my PJ. I plan to take both on as had luggage. I don't trust either of them to go in the hold so I'm just praying that Virgin will be understanding! I'll wear the dress if I have to :rotfl:

So quite a big update this time. The clock is ticking for me now ladies and i can't believe how soon it is coming around to my turn to be a princess for a day!
My petticoat arrived and I was speechless when i took it out of the box. My etsy lady used the softest organza I have ever come across and the orange ribbon edge is perfect. I had to wait another week until this weekend until I could try it on with my dress though as I took it to Mums house for safe keeping. So Friday night after work I hit the road for the 100 mile trip to Mum and the minute I arrived I was straight up those stairs to try everything on!
I got the petticoat and dress on with my back to the mirror, then I fastened a brooch to the sash and finally popped on the lovely white wedges that Mum bought for me (she is such a thoughtful Mum). And then I turned to the mirror - at this point I was so nervous as everything I was wearing came from internet purchases so I have only had my imagination to work with thus far.
So here you go.........
http://i838.photobucket.com/albums/zz304/pipsqueek27/beutifull_Claire_001.jpg
I am soooooo overjoyed with everything! It is exactly how I pictured that I would look. Mum immediately ran off for the camera so she could capture the moment. She emailed this one so I could share it with you all. Please ignore the ratty hair though!
Saturday morning we went shopping together in Manchester. I managed to get my bridal underwear, an ivory shrug for over the dress incase it chills of in the evening, a dress for my hen party/batchelorette. Also I made an appointment with a good alterations shop to have my dress taken in. I've lost 3 inches off my waist since I ordered it so it needs a small nip in.
I feel like I have had such a productive weekend. We have also paid the final balance on our wedding and car hire AND we got AP discount off our room at The Boardwalk Inn, what a bonus!

Thank you. I'm so glad that I didn't choose a long dress. I'm so clumsy that I just know I would stand on the hem and fall! We fly out on 30th September from Manchester. Not long at all now. When do you fly?

What a big relief! I cannot tell you how nervous I was waiting for both to arrive! I'm thinking of shortening the dress an inch so the orange ribbon will be more visible.

The dress is gorgeous Claire!! I know you paid a lot of money in import fees, but think how much it might have cost to have something as beautiful!
It is perfect, and I cannot wait to see the whole "ensemble" (e.g. hairdo, bouquet, etc).
About another 1.5 month!!!
And yes, I'm sure Virgin will be accomodating, they're usually great with special requests (and I cannot think of a request more special than wanting your wedding dress as a carry-on! :thumbsup2:

Thank you so much all you lovely ladies :goodvibes I am truly excited now that we are on the final leg towards the wedding!
I went on the 2 hour drive back to Manchester last weekend to have my dress altered. In typical Claire style I had forgotten to go to Mums house to pick up the dress (but of course Claire, why would you actually need the dress when you are going for dress alterations!!!:rotfl:). So poor Mum had to meet me it Manchester with it. I couldn't stop laughing at her wacky races style driving as she pulled up next to me outside the shop and flung the garment bag at me! Thank goodness she only lives down the road from the shop I picked to alter the dress. Anyway, unbelievably I have managed to lose 4 inches from my upper body and 3 off my waist so quite a bit of nipping to be done. I can pick it up on the 10th September and I can't wait!
Other news: I have ordered a great dress travel box from ebay which arrived today. So now the dress can travel in style with me on the plane.
Chris has FINALLY ordered his shirt and waistcoat (vest). Talk about last minute.com! Thankfully he picked a lovely silvery grey pinstriped waistcoat and a crisp white shirt. I really never know with him and he might have been stood at the end of the aisle in a polka dot shirt and a bow tie!
My planner has been emailing me a lot and I am really looking forward to meeting her. I feel totally relaxed about the ceremony as she really has everything in hand and seems to understand me very well. I'm sure I should be worrying about something but as far as the wedding goes I am totally calm!
