Anyone have any firetruck or emergency vehicle pics to share? I have access to fire trucks, and it just bugs the living daylights out of me that I can never seem to capture the emotion I feel when i'm seeing them. (Anyone understand that or am I just being *a girl about it* as my 13 year old would say)
Anyone want to share theirs and show me how it's done? :rotfl2:
Oh, and I'd LOVE to see some HDR firetruck pics that aren't so overdone that they look grimey. (I love HDR pics. But usually like them to have that "dreamy" or "shiny/slick" or "awe" feeling. The grungy ones usually just don't do it for me....:confused3 )
Anyone? :flower3:

I just got my camera and have not had a chance to really take any yet. We are on the same page though. My husband is the chief of our volunteer fire department. Alot of my life revolves around the department. I am going to get them to dress up in their turn out gear and take some photos soon. I am still practicing and learning about my camera. I am taking a class this fall. When I get some made I will post them. We should keep this going and give each other ideas.

Get some firefighters in the shots. If their kids are available, that would also be nice.

I was taking some shots of the local firemen's parade. I was trying for a certain effect, and didn't get it, but the shots aren't awful, either. IMO, these I consider "unsuccessful", but I'll share them anyhow.

Earlier, before the trucks came down the street, my neighbors were sitting out close to the road, with their little dog Bentley. But as the trucks got closer, all the sirens had Bentley going nuts, and they had to take him inside. Betty then stayed in with Bentley, and Bill moved further away from the road, back to the middle of his yard. I was looking to get an "Americana" shot. But the only way to get Bill and the trucks nice and tight was for the truck to get closer to me, and in doing so they then dominated the frame. Without the trucks dominating the frame, the points of interest are too far apart. Oh, well. If I was going to do any further work with them, I'd probably photoshop the mailbox out, but the shots don't work for me, so I'm kind of done with them.

Hi, here's a photo I shot in Boston of a fire truck coming down the road:

I kind of lucked out with this one. I was stepping out of a cafe when I heard the siren. I was already in TV (shutter priority) mode, so I was able to slow the shutter down to get some nice motion blur.

With Flickr you cannot just copy the address from the address bar. There is a way to link to the actual image. The bar link is to a HTML page.

Kangareaux: Howdy neighbor, I kind of thought you were from south Louisiana with the username. Ya'll getting ready to brace for Bonnie?
The pics are actually of the dept I work for a couple were taken for a yearbook we are putting together, the one with the black bunting on the rescue was for a funeral. And nope he wasn't driving with the door open those 2 pics are actually taken on scene of a working fire. I was sitting in the ambulance (my side job) and had to snap through the windshield. Wish I had gotten it from outside but oh well..
Everybody else nice shots I love the other night time shots and the pic of the chicago truck.

the door...ahhhh.....makes sense now! LOL! (I was thinking "Oh I bet they were glad those didn't slide out!" Glad to know it was stopped. ;-D)
Beautiful trucks...but I'm biased given my location. ;) (I'm almost positive they were made just down the road from me.)
I actually didn't catch the bunting until I had a second look at them. (I saw the doors...which shocked me...which *clicked* in my mind with where they were made...then I went back to look for a flame logo/plaque on the truck and saw the bunting. What can i say...I'm easily distracted. :rotfl: )
I have a fire photo I love, but not a truck photo. If I can figure out how to get it online I'll post it. (I haven't posted a pic in ages.....don't even remember which service i use....hehehe...)
eta: (looking again, maybe those aren't the brand trucks I think they are. Very similar though if not. But I see no flame logo so I'm not sure...)

what are you planning on using them for? Not being nosey. :) Just trying to decide if it would be OK to send you some that I have. I have been given special permission by our city fire chief to take photos at house/building fires and I have hundreds of shots. Not sure how many have fire trucks in them but I know a lot do.

Not using them for anything. Just wanted to browse through some. There's not a forum out there that has a supply of firetruck pics to browse...at least that I've been able to find. ;)

Oh jeez, yes. I saw the shot in my mind, the fire trucks in a line and my neighbors sitting in their yard with Bentley straining at his leash, and the flags, and the summer colors. I sat at the end of the driveway for half an hour, chit-chatting, laughing, scratching the dog's ears, toying with the camera settings and taking some test shots (it is the Nikon P5000 point & shoot, I don't use it a lot). Then everyone moved, and minutes later, with sirens and shouting and all sorts of commotion, the parade came down the street. And it didn't look anything at all like I imagined.
Yeah, Lampeter #1 is pretty nice. We went up to the bazaar later, and I like the way the late evening sun turned it kind of orangey.

I remember this when I saw it in the early '50s. I lived in the country and we had a volunteer fire dept. It was a subscription dept and they didn't have much money. If you didn't subscribe they watched your house burn down. I think it cost $8.00 a year.
They used to keep the trucks (2) in a barn until it became tax supported and they were able to build a firehouse. Someone would take the call, run down to the firehouse, blow the whistle and write down where the fire was on a blackboard. Everyone would go to the firehouse first and the first two to arrive would drive the trucks.
They would go down the road with a fireman sitting next to the driver cranking the siren. It was a Reo. They had to keep their trucks a long time.

Wish I did have some fire trucks - but unfortunately not. Closest I can get are the following...
Disney (Reedy Creek) fire station:

Funny thing is that I do love fire trucks - but either don't have my camera when I see a good shot, or the situation doesn't seem appropriate to shoot them!
