I am new to this photography board but I think you guys may be able to help me. DH loves photography and his camera gears are growing more and more. He used to carry a medium size Lowepro slingshot and put the tripod in DD's stroller. However, DD grows up and we don't need stroller anymore. His camera bag is getting bigger too. It's too heavy to carry all the stuff whole day long. Do you guys bring the stroller for carrying the camera bag and tripod? Any other suggestions? DD doesn't want us to bring the stroller. She said someone might think she is still a baby:rolleyes1. Any advise?
Thanks
Angela

Depending on how big the tripod is, try renting a locker which is good for each park that day. Store it when you are not using it.

Thank you for your reply, Wingman. DH wants to put his backpack and tripod in the stroller. Will we look very weird if we used the stroller for carrying camera? Of course DH will bring the camera bag with us when we go to the ride and leave the tripod in the stroller.

Sherpas!
Which is to say I recruit my husband and 11 year old son. The key is using a comfortable, padded camera backpack. They don't mind carrying, even in the heat and we all take turns.
here is a link to the type of bag I like....

There are a million different styles, arrangements and manufacturers so you are bound to find a configuration that works for you.
Best of luck,

PS. I wouldn't leave the tripod in stroller, it it likely that someone will walk off with it, especially if it is crowded and you are using a Disney Stroller

I use a Tamrac Adventure (the 6 or 7) for the parks. It holds my camera w/lens attached, and extra lenses, battery, etc. It also has a separate top compartment to hold other stuff (snacks, rain ponchos, etc). I usually don't take all of my equipment into the parks with me - I pick what lenses I think I will need for the day and just take those 1 or 2.
As far as the tripod goes, I only take it into the parks when I know I will need it for fireworks, or something specific. Right now, I still have the advantage of a stroller, but when the time comes I will either stow it in a locker during the day or use one of the outside (side) pockets on my backpack and some velcro straps to hold the tripod.

We got a Tamrac Adventure 6 for the purpose of taking to the parks on our next visit! :thumbsup2 It seemed like the best combination of size and storage. We usually take 2 bodies to the park & an extra lens. Last time we brought a tripod along for a few days, but I think we'll likely bring it almsot every day this time around though, lashed to the side of the Tamrac.

I second the vote for a locker. We got one every single day last trip and it was really worth it!

I bumped up to the Adventure 9. I wanted more storage for the family stuff and I use the laptop compartment for my rain coat.

I recently picked up a Benro Travel angel tripod so the pack is now much lighter and narrower.
I try not to take a tripod unless I have a plan to use it.

It looks really nice. I will let DH know. How much does the bag cost? Is it heavy?

I'm going to piggyback on this thread and ask for advice!
I use the R strap, so my camera is on my side the whole time. So I'm trying to find a small bag to hold just a few lenses.
Anyone have ideas for that?

Ok, call me crazy, but why not ask your DH to not carry as much gear in the parks? He could pick the most ideal couple of lenses and just bring those along that day, leaving the rest in the hotel. I'm all about traveling light! I use a Crumpler 4MDH and if it won't fit in the bag, I don't need it for a day at the parks. IMHO, it's a vacation, not a photo shoot. :)

I'm with you on this one! I can't think of a better place to put my gear through the paces. If I didn't have it with me, it would just bug the heck out of me the whole time!
