What property? The whole thing? Do you know who owns it?

The detail, which has been floating around for a few months, has been they will be selling vacant land in the Southwest corner of the property to a developer for the construction of affordable rental housing intended for USF employees.

A section of the back parking lot for employees is supposed to be converted (http://www.screamscape.com/html/universal_orlando.htm)into apartments for employees.

well it's a lot nicer than the company who sells its land(that the founder worked so hard for) as multi million dollar homes to the richest segment of the country while the CMs make minimum wage and struggle for housing.

Just to add some kerosene to the actual rumor, there are some rumblings that Comcast will jettison the theme parks if/when they get controlling interest...

Those are only for the CPs. The rest of the CMs fend for themselves while they announce a development with homes that will sell to the richest 1% of the country.

That would probably be a good thing for the parks, especially if Blackstone were to buy out the other half of their ownership (they have about 50% of the parks currently)

Disney does too for their college workers. I lived in one for 4 months, nice place.

Yes, but the $200 a night hotels at Universal are at what would be Disney's "Deluxe" level. You're saving over $100 a night if you stay Deluxe level and you stay at Universal ;)

Comcast might get controlling interest in NBC, but they won't have controlling interest in the orlando resort beacause Universal actually only owns half of the resort. I suppose they could sell their minority steak if they want to.
