We made our reservation for the July 19, 2003 Western cruise this morning through DVC. We ended up with a category 11 room (all the secret portholes were taken, as expected) on Deck 7 (7629), so we should be close to the secret "private" deck, I think. We requested late dining and we requested (using the code from this board) the first time cruiser credit. Thanks for all the help! I know I will be on this board lots more in the future with other questions to help plan the cruise.

Congrats on booking your cruise. No matter where your stateroom is on the ship you're going to have a great time. It's all in the attitude!

Have a great time on your first cruise!!

By the way, this board is great for getting information in planning your trip!

I'm actually pretty excited about getting one of the Category 11's on Deck 7. I think I might have been disappointed if we opted for a Category 10 after the secret porthole rooms weren't available, but we got the bonus of getting a nice location and spending fewer of our DVC points for the cruise by booking the Category 11. We are very much looking forward to our cruise. Thanks are due to Dave from Marietta for suggesting that strategy!

I've stayed in a category #11 Twice with two adults and two children and we found them to be rather roomy. We actually liked it better than a category #10 -- except for the fact that we had the secret porthole rooms! We found the category#11 to seem roomier than the #10 -- and actually did not care for the split bath in the #10.

It is a public verandah on deck 7 aft that very few people (except DISers) know about and use. I have photos of it on my website at www.***************** along with photos of the even lesser known Deck 8 aft area.

Congrats for "biting the bullet"!!! Only problem is your date - should've made it the 7/5/03 Western (that's when we're going) You'll have a blast - it's a great way to spend a week.

Funny thing about that "private" deck on 7 - in July my hubby & I mosied over to that deck and came upon an elderly gentleman (by skin condition, let's say around mid to late 70s) in an extremely tight SPEEDO - Ugh! Anyway, we didn't mosy over that way again during the week. If this was one of you DIS'rs - Sorry we invaded your privacy...

Hey , just saw your post. we have room 7629 booked for 3-day wonder on March 6th. I know it is a different ship, but room should be the same. We actually got this room (cat 11) for a cat 12 price. Our travel agent got it for us. I am very happy with the location. I'll let you know when we get back how the room was!:)
