Hi Disney Dream Cruisers!
Anyone joining us on the 3 night cruise, starting August 25 next summer? This will be our 4th cruise on the DCL - first one on the Disney Dream!
My brother and travelling partner live in Austria and have discovered that we love cruising when we went on our first Disney cruise in August 2009.
Needless to say, we fell in love with it!
So, we are booked on a B2B for this summer on the Disney Wonder and are going on another B2B2B in 2011 on the Disney Dream. :woohoo:
The Aug 25 cruise will be the second leg of the B2B2B!
Would love to meet some fellow DISsers and hope there will be a Fish Extender exchange as well!

Hello.
We;ve just booked for the 3 night on August 25th as well. I am getting quite excited now!
:welcome:
I am SO happy to have already found fellow cruisers! Have you been travelling on a Disney cruise ship before? It will be our fourth Disney cruise - fell head over heals in love with it during our first cruise! :rotfl2:
Who's cruising with you?
I can see that you are going to stay in Orlando for 3 weeks in 2011 - any idea on where you want to stay?
And I can see that you are Europeans as well! :cheer2: I have family in GB, so I am very excited that there are some Britons on board as well. :goodvibes

Hello!
We are booked on this cruise too. It will be myself, DH, DD11 and DD9 and it is our first cruise EVER!
Booked a short one to see if we like it...though from reading others posts it could be the start of an expensive addiction!
We will be staying at OKW for 2 weeks before cruising. Can't wait! :yay:

Hi,
We cruised on the Wonder last summer, so this will be our 2nd cruise. We will be joined by some friends which we are really excited about.
I haven't booked anywhere for Orlando yet, but we have some DVC points so will be spending some time at the Boardwalk, and possibly sometime at OKW and maybe off-site as well.
It would be nice if we got a little group on here, last time I cruised I didn't really meet any other Dis'ers whcih I was disappointed about.

No doubt you will like cruising with Disney. And you are VERY right on the start of an expensive addiction - last year we did our once in a lifetime cruise on the Disney Wonder and needed to do a back to back this summer - well, to cut this story short, we are doing 3 cruises in a row next summer! :rotfl2:

Disney keeps luring you back in ........ doesn't it?
We stayed at OKW for 21 nights this summer and LOVED it! We are already booked for next summer for another 4 weeks at Disney - we love to stay for a month and it makes travelling halfway around the globe worth wile.
I hope we will be able to have a meet during the cruise - I missed the one this summer :sad2: we were to pre occupied with exploring the ship!

Look forward to chatting with everyone.

You are going to LOVE cruising on board a Disney ship! It is a magical experience! ;)
Where are you going to stay before your cruise? Saratoga Springs or Old Key West? We love Old Key West and are spending the part after our cruise there.

We booked our airfare and got a cheaper rate than I had expected. I love when that happens! It is cheaper to stick around Orlando for a couple of days after the cruise and leave on Tuesday, than leave on Sunday even paying for the hotel as long as we don't go crazy. Darn stuck in Disney for 2 extra days;). Now I need to figure out where to stay for 2 nights. I'm assuming there will be some room discounts for that time of year, I'm figuring a moderate resort. Maybe CBR or CSR. Any suggestions?

That's what we are looking forward too most - the Castaway Cay days! :thumbsup2 :lmao:
Guess we will leave the ship in Nassau briefly to stock up on a few drinks (rum comes to mind! :lmao:) and a short walk. We have been on the offered sightseeing tours and went to the Atlantis, but didn't really enjoy it too much. So we are just going to enjoy the ship!
Thanks for the welcome too karin...fun we will be on the same b2b .... I was looking at a possible Feb. cruise too because I dont want to wait BUT i suppose I will have to ...I do need to be mindful of the budget LOL

We will arrive in Orlando on Aug 13 and stay at OKW again. We finally gave in and booked the British offer again - 42% off the resort AND free dining - couldn't resist. We'll go back to WDW after the cruise for another 9 nights. Hoping that the crowds will die down by September! ;)
OMG Fantasy is open for booking 2012 in two days (for good old silver member me) I may HAVE to book it at 12:01 am :banana::banana:
Did you book? We are still debating if we should go on a Caribbean in 2012 or 2 cruises on the Dream. Caribbean has the advantage of going somewhere we haven't been yet, Bahamian would mean two days at Castaway Cay! :confused3

We have our airfare too! Got lucky and got a reasonable rate (even though 2400 € = 3300 $ is quite stiff for a roundtrip ticket for two!)
Our trip looks very much like yours
8 nights at OKW
11 nights on the Dream
9 nights at POR (hoping for an AP discount to upgrade to OKW again)
As for CBR and CSR - we have stayed at both and LOVED the pirate rooms at CBR, but they were a bit far from the restaurant and shops - we had a car though and didn't mind. It was a more "lively" resort.
At CSR we looked out onto the lake and a quiet pool and it had more of a laid back feel to it. We really enjoyed it.
Don't get me wrong, we love both!
HAPPY HALLOWEEN EVERYONE!!! pirate:

Yes, it is! We saw the video too and were in awe! It is a stunning ship - love the horn! :lmao:
We are going to see her during our February trip. We'll drive to Port Canaveral to see her sail our! Can't wait!

I did book!....Early June. 2012 I will probably re-book when I am on the Dream for the OBC...the Moderator on our other message board said I could and not lose my room # ( I got a sideways cabin) I waited to book the dream last time till I got on the ship and the price went way up... so I decided to just book it now and try to get the obc on the Dream.
I cannot wait to see the pics of the dream coming into Port canaveral....I saw the video of it's undocking in germany...stunning!

I never knew you could book and then rebook while on board. I thought it was for new bookings only! Hm, definitely something to think about! ;)
We are still discussing if we should do a 7 night on the Fantasy or a 5 night and a 4 night on the Dream - they come to about the same price, BUT Dream does Bahamian, which we have been to quite a lot and Fantasy would do Caribbean - talk me into one or the other! :lmao: At the moment Castaway Cay still wins. :lmao:
Hope you have fun on your none Disney cruise - please report back to us and let us know the differences! :goodvibes

Oh, how I hate stop-overs! ;) But Linz is such a small airport that we will have a stopover in Frankfurt anyway, and Lufthansa has a non-stop flight to Orlando. :woohoo: So much easier!
If you stay at POR we will be neighbours! :flower3: Who did you book with, because Disney UK is still offering a great deal on OKW and SSR. We finally gave in and booked with them again, even though I hate having to buy a 7 day ticket with it. But then, last year we used it to renew our AP and we only had to pay less than 200$ towards a new AP! :thumbsup2

So..back from my RCL weekender cruise.... I am going to try to be fair because I was on the oldest ship in their fleet....BUT NO comparison...
poorly staffed and uninspired teen club
every time I went to my cabin I was introduced to a new hallway smell...none good
lots of obnoxious drunk people in the evening
a smoking allowed casino on the 5th floor..so the entire 5th floor reeked of cigarette smoke
smoking in the lounges too.
I did enjoy..
the food, dinner especially was good and the dining staff was attentive and nice.
Being with some of my extended family
Their private island was nice (not as good as castaway but..nice)
Room service was good
one good juggler/comedianne
it just confirms it....DISNEY CRUISES R THE BEST!!!!
I am hoping to convince my family to join me on one (working on it:cool1:)

We will be on the August 25th and 28th for our first b2b cruises. They will be our 4th and 5th DCL cruises respectively. We would love to participate in an FE exchange. We are treating my mom and dad to the 3 day cruise (Christmas gift last year) and they would also like to be included in the FE exchange. We only did an exchange on our last cruise (not the first 2) and my boys loved it! One said it was the best part of the trip!

the food, dinner especially was good and the dining staff was attentive and nice.
Being with some of my extended family
Their private island was nice (not as good as castaway but..nice)
Room service was good
one good juggler/comedianne
it just confirms it....DISNEY CRUISES R THE BEST!!!!
I am hoping to convince my family to join me on one (working on it:cool1:)
Thanks for the review of RCL. Confirms it for me - Disney it is ALL the way! ;) :lmao:
Did you decide if you join us for FE? I hope so, they are so much fun and we will have to keep it easy too - lots of planning as so many people will be on more than one cruise! LOL
Welcome! We will be on the same two cruises as well! We're doing three cruises in a row, starting on August 21st! These will be our cruises 4, 5 and 6! :lmao:
I think it is so nice of you to treat your parents to the cruise! Great gift!
And I am really happy you will join in on the FE fun as well. First time we cruised we cruised with some friends from another board and the FE exchange was SO much fun, so we have been signing up for one, every trip we've made so far! ;)
:welcome: Aboard Alexander!! We will be doing the same B2B and we are really looking forward to doing a FE exchange as well, it has always been a highlight on our previous cruises :thumbsup2. It will be great to sail with you and your family. :)
Hope everyone has had a wonderful weekend.
Dennis
I can't believe HOW MANY people here will actually be on the same cruises! :thumbsup2
Disney must be doing something VERY right if we keep coming back for so much more! :rotfl2:
Okay, I better start a FE list. I will put the same info in my first post and update there.
So far we have the following cruisers participating in a Fish Extender exchange:

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome! I am getting more and more excited! We booked in October 2009 and it seemed so far away, but now, it is less than a year!
I will have to look up our stateroom numbers, I honestly cannot remember the exact numbers, but I know we booked one of the corner 9As forward that looked to be a bit bigger (fingers crossed that it is), and my mom and dad are right next door.
Okay, I just need to get through Christmas and I can really start the planning for our August cruises! At least we'll be spending 2 weeks in WDW for Christmas so I don't have to wait too long to get "my fix"!
I have an AWESOME lady who I order Fish Extenders from if anyone is looking to custom order one. She is on ebay and does an AMAZING job! She'll customize colors, names, designs, they are the best!

Lucky you going to WDW for Christmas - we'll have to wait until February! :scared1:
But then we are planning another 4 week Disney vacation in August/September, so that should keep me busy!
Thanks for the :thumbsup2 on the FE. I always make my own - and it will get good use, as we stay for 3 cruises! :lmao:

And thank you, I DO have a great week - today is my day off and tomorrow is a union meeting, which I have to attend, but my school day would have been 8am until 4.30, but the meeting is just 9 to 12! An afternoon off, what else can you want! :goodvibes

Hi everyone! We just booked for the Dream on Aug 25th, too!::woohoo: This will be our first ever cruise. I'm so excited! And so confused! I've been trying to hang out on the boards to see what I can learn, but I still feel so lost. I'll gladly take any advice anyone has to offer. We will be staying at ASMo for 5 nights before the cruise. We've never done a value before, but DS LOVES Toy Story, so we thought this might be fun for him. DD will be 9, and DS will be 4 at the time of the trip. Come on August!!!

You are going to love DCL! This is going to be our 4th, 5th and 6th cruise and we only started in 2009! :lmao: Speaking as someone who said that the 2009 cruise would be a "once in a lifetime" event, I can tell you that it was a wonderful cruise and I am so looking forward to another one.
I still remember very vividly how it is to go on the first cruise! If you have any questions, just ask! There are lots of knowledgeable people on here and I would love to help too!
Only a few more hours and we can say - THIS year we will sail on the DREAM! :thumbsup2

We have just booked this cruise! It will be our 2nd DCL following our Dover to Barcelona trip in 2010. 3 nights doesn't seem much but it is better than not going at all and we are all really keen to see Castaway Cay and the Aquaduck!
We will be me (Sara), my DH Terry and 2 boys (16 & 13).
We are flying in a rather roundabout way from London > Miami > Jacksonville to get the airfare at a reasonable price. It will certainly be an adventure as we live in Manchester, UK so we will be adding on a night in London before the trip too. We have yet to decide where we will be staying in the Orlando area but as we are not planning any time in the Disney parks it wont be a Disney property this time.
I look forward to seeing you all onboard!!

Hi! Happy new year to you too!
It's great to have you join the FE exchange! :woohoo: I can tell it IS fun - A LOT OF FUN!!! :thumbsup2
If you haven't checked it already - there is quite some information that I copied from the DIS in post 32! :goodvibes
There is even a thread that has photos of fish extender gifts - I need to dig and try and find it again.
Feel free in what you want to give as your FE gifts. It depends on you if you want to buy something or make something yourself. You can hand out your gifts once during your cruise, or like us, deliver little gifts every day of the cruise.
We had a blast  during the three DCL cruises we have taken so far, as nearly every time we came back to our stateroom, there was something in the extender!

DCL is the best, isn't it? ;) :lmao:
You are going to love Castaway Cay! We took our supposed to be "once in a lifetime Disney cruise" in 2009 and this summer we will do number 4, 5 and 6 back to back! We just love it!
Sounds like some kind of travelling marathon you will be going through before you'll arrive in Orlando! Are you going to book your hotel through a TA or are you doing it online? We never use a TA - we mostly use "bookings" for our hotels. Just google it and it will pop up if you haven't done it already! ;)
This is going to be a fun cruise! :thumbsup2

Hello to all! My DD(16) and I will be joining you. This will be the first leg of our B2B. Isn't it crazy what we have to go through to get a 7-day cruise out of Canaveral next summer?
Cheryl
Sorry, it took me so long, but after returning from 4 weeks at the wonderful world of Disney we both had a hard time catching up with real life. :goodvibes
Welcome! :flower3:
You are going to LOVE cruising on board a Disney ship! It is a magical experience! ;)
Where are you going to stay before your cruise? Saratoga Springs or Old Key West? We love Old Key West and are spending the part after our cruise there.
Welcome! :flower3:
It is wonderful to have you on board! I have a feeling this is going to be a fun cruise - and we will be on board with you for both cruises! :lmao: We decided to add a third cruise at the beginning, so we can actually stay for 11 nights! :goodvibes The things we all do for Disney! ;)
Other family reporting in!! Me, DW and DD who will be 9 (she would say 9 1/2) :rotfl2: when we sail. We are doing B2B and this one will be our first leg. These will make our 3rd & 4th Disney cruises so far and, of course, our first one on the Dream :woohoo:
Will be staying at Disney's Port Orleans Riverside for 10 days before our cruise, we stayed at POR for the first time this past August/Sept and loved it, Actually, It's become our new favorite!! Although we are US citizens we will be traveling from Madrid, Spain (been living here for many years)
Please count on us if you guys decide to do a Fish Extender Exchange, we have always done it on our previous cruises and it is always one of the highlights of our trip.
My family and I are all very excited and we look forward to getting to know you all!!!
Is it August yet? :)
Dennis

Yes, I know, Jeff's thread is quite active, while mine is a bit on the "sleeping beauty" side! :rotfl2: But she woke up in the end, didn't she! :lmao:
Isn't it fun to meet "old" friends again on the cruise? We have a few DISmeets planned while at WDW, before and after the cruise, and it gets me so excited.
I read your comment on the other thread about the 120 FE participants! Boy, I just don't want to imagine that! :rotfl2:
Tom and I have already started a spreadsheet for gifts, with so many b2bs I need to be organized!
We did a b2b last year and loved it. We were allowed to get on board again way ahead of the other passengers and spent the time at the Cove Cafe, where they had some snacks for us, and the coffee was yummy!!! I wonder how they will handle it on the Dream - but we'll live and learn, we'll have to go through the procedure twice. ;)

wow...so i've spent almost my whole day today looking for flights!! i was determined to finally narrow it down to which day we were going to arrive at wdw before the cruise. ends up that we are only going to have 1 1/2 days before cruising. the flight prices are ridiculous!! i've never paid over $200 for tix to fly to fla...and this year...my baby has to have a seat...AND we are paying over $200!!! yikes!!! we debated on driving...but noway do i want the hassle of driving 20ish hrs home after being pampered onboard the dream!! LOL!! anyways, i guess we are gonna fly down on aug 23 and fly home sept 2. this vacation is gonna go way too quickly!!

i can't wait to hear how they handle the b2b's. it seems like there are alot of people booking them this year...the price coudln't be beat...esp considering its the new ship. we are booked on another b2b at thanksgiving this year...but i think we'll have to cancel...not sure yet. hopefully people report back and let us know how it works for them

Make that two of us who are disorganized! :lmao: But with us travelling for 30 days and doing 3 cruises with FE and all, I need to keep some kind of record! :rotfl2:
Thankfully I have a few years of experience with long vacations.
Can't wait for the first reviews to roll in once the Dream has done her maiden voyage! That is one beautiful ship!
We are going to WDW in 6 weeks :woohoo: and we'll go out to Port Canaveral to take a look at her! Be sure I will post LOADS of photos!
I'll keep my fingers crossed for you that you can go on that Thanksgiving Cruise - another friend of mine has just reported back from this year's Halloween Cruise and it seems to have been fantastic! :thumbsup2

Yes, I did see/hear the hornbattle of the Wonder and Dream! It was fun to watch - I cannot wait to see that wonderful ship closeup!
We cruised for the first time in 2009 and it was supposed to be a "once in a lifetime" experience. Well, I was sold after a day - the service is top notch, the food was really good, the interaction with other cruisers was fun. We got to see a lot of the ship delivering FE gifts and we LOVED the shows! 45 minute shows on a huge stage, with lots of performers! Wonderful
What am I looking forward to most? Castaway Cay and Serenity Bay! We just loved Serenity Bay - the adults only beach!
We enjoyed our first trip so much that we rebooked a back to back cruise. I am currently doing a trip report on our 2010 vacation and slowly creaping up on our cruise experience. If you are interested - feel free to read along - it is the "Value Resorts and Inside Staterooms" link in my signature.
So, while on our b2b last summer we booked a triple cruise for this year! :lmao:
Oh, and the drinks are yummy - Konk Kooler, Bahama Mama, Rum Rudder ........... been there, going back!

Pop Century sounds cool! We have stayed there too and always loved it! For the last two years we stayed at Old Key West! And we'll stay there again too, before and after our cruises! :goodvibes
You're not alone counting days, :lmao:! We have been counting down for quite a while now!
7 months exactly today for us until we leave for our summer vacation! :woohoo:

wow...so i've spent almost my whole day today looking for flights!! i was determined to finally narrow it down to which day we were going to arrive at wdw before the cruise. ends up that we are only going to have 1 1/2 days before cruising. the flight prices are ridiculous!! i've never paid over $200 for tix to fly to fla...and this year...my baby has to have a seat...AND we are paying over $200!!! yikes!!! we debated on driving...but noway do i want the hassle of driving 20ish hrs home after being pampered onboard the dream!! LOL!! anyways, i guess we are gonna fly down on aug 23 and fly home sept 2. this vacation is gonna go way too quickly!!
I'm also flying from NY - I got flights out of NY to Fl for 109 per person on jet blue --- and flights on delta from Fl back to NY for 89 per person. but becuase its on delta you have to add the 25 bag charge so its really 114 ... But I still did alot better than I thought I was going to do and well with in budget!!! I guess I can treat myself to a pedicure with my savings.
And dont drive if you can avoid it ..... it's a tough drive when you got little one - and even the not so little ones have a hard time after a while.

this is the first leg of our b2b. the 25th is my parents anniversary, so we decided it was a good day to start the trip!! lol!!!
that sounds great if they will let us back onboard that quickly! i wondered how it would work...sounds like it's hassle-free!!

we def won't be driving! been there done that when my 3rd was only 9months old. it wasn't a bad trip...and we'd do it if we had to...but i just really didn't want to have to spend the full week onboard the dream and then drive for 20hrs....noway!! i don't worry about the trip down...it's the one back that would put me over the edge!!! lol!!!!
we did end up finding tix...201 roundtrip from rochester...so not too bad...but def more than we've ever paid before. we'll be flying delta too...so have to pay for bags...but we each have a carryon that we'll be using, so i hope to only have to check 1 big suitcase. we'll see how that plan goes when it comes time to pack though!! Hahaha!!

i just posted on the main board...but didn't know if anyone here knows the answer?
i tend to overbuy at shutters. i know that the backdrops will repeat for both cruises, but i have 4 kids...and i'm sure that some of the pics won't turn out for the 1st segment of cruise. does shutters offer any way to "hold" the pics from both segments of cruise, and then i pick a photo package at the end of the b2b? or am i gonna be stuck buying a package from the first seg and then another package on the 2nd seg?

Hi everyone, I'm sorry I haven't posted here for a while, but we have been crazy busy with too much going on. Actually, looks like we will not be sailing with you all this time, my wife's company has changed her vacation schedule and we had to change our cruise dates. We will be sailing right after you all, Sept 8th and 11th, and will be staying at POR until Sept 24th.
I really wish you all a Happy Sailing and definitely look forward to sailing with you folks sometime in the future.
You guys take care,

Just been catching up on all the news about the Dream and getting very excited about our first cruise! What is everyone most excited about? For my DDs I think it must be the Aquaduck, but also we think Animators Palate looks like fun! And I can't wait to see the show Believe...:yay:
Only thing we are unsure about it is the kids clubs. With one DD almost 10 and the other 11 at the time of sailing it seems they will be in different clubs :confused3 which they won't like at all.
Karin - please count us in for the FE exchange :goodvibes.

Guess we are excited about exploring this huge ship in the 11 nights we will be there! The new restaurants and the shows are something we look forward too as well!

Hi,
New to these boards, and semi-new to cruising....
My daughter (12) and I will be sailing on the Dream on 8/25 as well.
This will be my 2nd Disney cruise (my first was way back in 1998 on the Magic!) and my 3rd cruise overall. We did Alaska last year on Holland America. Really looking forward to my daughter experiencing a Disney cruise, and the Dream sounds wonderful!

Thanks! We are most likely going to be staying at Port Orleans, for 4 nights before the cruise, just haven't booked it yet. We've been to WDW many times, and stayed there once before and liked it. VERY excited for the cruise part!
BTW, I would love to join in on the FE...had to look up what it was first!

I was on the second voyage, 1/30, for 4 nights. We decided having a more empty ship was worth missing the MV! One of my friends was on a Carnival ship a week prior and had a terrible experience, so I told her that she needed to cruise with Disney.
This will be my first FE though, so I'll try to answer as many questions as you all have but I may not know all the answers!

Disney cruises are the best! I hope your friend will have the experience of a lifetime - I know we did! We said that in 2009 we would go on our "once in a lifetime" cruise - well, this summer we are doing no 4, 5 and 6! :rotfl2:
Tell me about getting hooked on Disney!
You are going to love the FE! We did it every year and it is just so much fun! I will put up a list of people participating once we get back from our trip to WDW and Port Canaveral in just 10 days! I need to take a peek at the ship when we are there! ;)
So, where was your stateroom during your first cruise? Did it really feel as crowded as I read in some of the MV reports? We will be on deck 10 this time and I am questioning if I really want to be so high up already!
bcanderson78

Very fun! Yes, I hope she gets hooked on Disney as well. We all met 10 years ago at Disney, so it should be a great time.
We were in 7028, Verandah, port side, deck 7. The room was small but once you were inside, it felt big. We left the verandah door open when we were in the room, so it helped add some extra space.
As for deck 10, the only negative comment I heard was towards the end of the sailing when a lady mentioned she woke up to them power washing the pool deck above her. It wasn't too loud, just an unusual noise and she fell back asleep.
I'd think deck 10 would be nice for the views and also being close to the pool deck and all of the outdoor decks to walk and lounge on!

The fish extenders don't have to be a lot of work. We've seen a wide variety in creation of the actual fish extender from super customized and fancy to more streamlined and classic. They both hold surprises equally as well, so don't let that worry you. Also, for the gifts themselves, not everything is handmade, time consuming or expensive. Sometimes the simplest gift of a chapstick really helps someone out in your group! We hope you join us for the FE, it'll be my first time trying to make a fish extender, so we'll see how it goes. :)

(well, actually I cruised disney when it was the big red boat) Husband decided to open his wallet (doesn't happen often) :rotfl2:after I booked a 3 day ..He said why don't we do the 4 day? No such luck. :confused3:love:Totally booked. Hopefully he loves it so much and decides to dust off his wallet in the future:love:

Welcome :goodvibes Toniann and family!
I got my Fish extender from a woman on Ebay.....
I am not much of a sewing person....:scared1: hems and boy scout badges is the limit for me...so i did not mind paying for a nice one at all. She put the sorcerer Mickey on it I wanted and our names and my saying...very cool!:thumbsup2
Last cruise was my first ever FE participation....ummmm it was a transatlantic and I delivered over 120 handmade bookmarks ....:scared1: OMG way to get my feet wet huh? It was really fun though. Coming back to the room and finding little treats
I also did a one on one gift exchange like secret santa...that was cool too.
We had lanyards too (but I didnt wear it...just saved it..I don't wear lanyards or florescent shirts LOL)
We had some seriously good organizers for that trip (I really appreciated them all) ....all I did is round up the cougar patrol :cool1: Long and funny story:)

Can't wait! DVC members since 2004 and just returned from glorious 1 week in WDW. But this will be our first cruise, so a little overwhelmed. :yay: Will definately be doing a B2B to HH after but may do a double B2B by adding WDW days on front end.
We are 4 - DH, DtwinD's turning 12 the day we end cruise, and me. Also joining us will be SIL, BIL, neice (8), plus Grandma & Grandpa.
Have to run the fish extender thing past everyone but sounds like lots of fun!
Looking forward to meeting all! Thanks so much for organizing Karin.

My fam of 5 is on this cruise- 1st timers here. I have a DD14, DS13,DS11- should we do the fish extenders? Would my aged kids like this?
If I understand it, you make/buy something to hang outside your door and people put in little gifts? Then you go around and put gifts into other extenders?
Do I have this right?
We can't wait for this trip-

The FE exchange is what you said Michelle. There are some of the message threads around that are just about Fish extenders. You can get ideas on those about what and how by doing a Fish Extender Search. Maybe Diz has a link? :thumbsup2
I think I enjoyed FEs more that my 15 yo. Son, If its not an Itouch app or video game:confused3 ....it takes a lot to get him excited. But he did like the edible treats most in the FE's...and looked for those frequently. Its all in good fun ...

I am really happy that you and your family will join us on this cruise.
You are going to love DCL! We went on our "once in a lifetime" cruise in 2009 and are doing cruises no 4, 5 and 6 this summer! :lmao:
As for FE - you either get one from ebay or make it yourself. What you put in the FE is up to you - if you go back to the beginning of my thread I posted some photos of our "loot" last summer.
It depends on you, if you give a one time gift or do several small gifts over the course of the cruise.
Tom and I love to deliver one small gift every day - we use it as our "exercise" to explore the ship! ;)
Whatever you do, IF you decide to join, just let me know, so I can add you to the list! :thumbsup2

Can you believe that those cruises are sold out about half a year before they sail? Must be all that pixie dust on those ships! :lmao:
If you STILL need to read up on the FE - there are two links in my first post! :thumbsup2
I make my own FE and it takes me about an hour to do it!
They are so much fun! We LOVED all our cruises and FE exchanges! :thumbsup2

Hi everyone
Our family of 4 (DS6, DS4, DH & myself) will be joining you all on 25 August.
It's our first cruise and I'm ridiculously excited - although my family are just generally excited :confused3. We were meant to join the Wonder last October, but DS4 came down with the chickenpox  two days before the cruise, so we had to postpone. Luckily we were able to get on this cruise instead.
It's a big trip for us. I am being either very brave or mad, because I am heading over to WDW from the UK with my two boys for one week (4 nights at OKW then 3 nights at AKV). Then DH joins us for 5 days at BLT. After the cruise we have 7 days at BWV :cool1:.
Look forward to meeting as many of you guys as possible in August.

Hi Rosie and family! :flower3:
Welcome to the cruise!
Even though I do understand that you were disappointed to have to postpone your Wonder cruise I am delighted to have you on board for this one! :thumbsup2
We travel from Europe (Austria) too, just without any kids! ;)
When do you arrive at WDW? It looks like we will be at OKW at the same time! We arrive on Aug 13 and stay for 8 nights, then on the DREAM for 11 nights and back to OKW for another 9 nights!
So we could very easily run into each other at OKW before the cruise! :goodvibes Wouldn't that be fun?
I am sure you are going to love cruising with Disney! And especially the visit to Castaway Cay! Feel free to ask any questions! Everyone here will be happy to help out! :goodvibes

It is a small world.
We too arrive on 13 Aug. I think we arrive at OKW around 7pm. If the boys are up to it, I was going to take them on the ferry to DTD to the Lego store. Generally, we are going to take it easy for a few days. I have read the weather and crowd levels are not great this time of year. I imagine we will hang out by the pool, maybe visit Port Orleans Resort via DTD & ferry. If I am feeling adventurous, I might do a morning each at EP and MK. I understand MK has EMH (8am) on 16 Aug.
We will also visit AKL - I'm sure the boys will love seeing the animals. I don't plan on visiting the parks very much during our first week, so it made sense to split our stay between OKW & AKV for a change of scene. Once DH shows up we will visit the parks more. Am I right in thinking the crowd levels lower after 20 Aug?
I'm sure we will meet by the pool at OKW. Keep and eye out for a 40 year old Aussie/Brit with two lively (I mean 'lovely'), fair haired boys.
Can't wait for the crusie! Looking forward to checking out the Kids Club!

Hi Rosie!
We are travelling from the UK too and will be staying at OKW from 11 Aug 'til the cruise. We are planning on hitting the parks early in the first few days, taking advantage of the time difference. Not sure how we will handle the heat - not been in August before! I'm envious that you are staying at BLT, I'd love to stay there some day.

Excellent. I'm sure we'll see each other by the pool or by the campfire enjoying the s'mores. We should organise a meet up with Dizneeat.
I'm also a little worried about how hot it's going to be both at WDW and on the cruise. I'm Australian and generally used to heat, but I know the humity can be a killer. I've been in the UK for the last 10 years, so it might take a bit to adjust. I've even purchased a shade umbrella. It's a normal mini rain umbrella with a special silver coating that blocks the UV rays. I think you are right to make use of the time difference and hit the parks early.
I love BLT and am so glad it's our home resort. This will be our 3rd stay. We've booked a 1 bed, so it will be lovely to have the kitchen and washing machine at hand. It's location is great. I love being able to wonder to and from MK for breaks & meals. Also, DS4 absolutely loves the monorail. I'm sure we will spend quite a bit of time on that :rotfl2:
Although our WDW visit will be longer & totally amazing, I think I'm more excited about the cruise. It's been a long time since DH & I could just hang out during the day without the kids. The fact that DCL has something for the kids is brilliant. From all the reports I have read, kids would rather be in the clubs than with their parents - win win :thumbsup2

Anybody staying at the Boardwalk prior to the cruise? We will at the villas Aug 19th-25th
We stayed at the BCV last december :santa: and the family loved it. We toured the Boardwalk and really liked it, too. The place I rent from seems to have more availability at BWV, so we may see you there. Such tough choices:cool1:

We exchange through RCI and stayed in the BCV last time (Aug 2009) and loved it. Saw availibility there this weekend and gave some serious thought to changing it. We loved SAB but it is always fun to try someplace new and we love Epcot so both locations are still great for us. Have relatives in Huntington, love that town, they were at the parade today. we couldn't make it.

Nice! Did you sew it or use the no-sew directions?
I sewed because I have a sewing machine and don't mind a little simple sewing.
It wasn't too hard, the most difficult thing was getting the pockets even (and finding the fabric - we don't have Joanns and Michaels over here).
That red & White spotted fabric is slightly stretchy (It's like a t-shirt material) and so the pockets kept moving as I sewed them. I ended up glueing them in place and then sewing over over the glue. It might not be a traditional method but it worked!
I used an A4 sheet of paper (like letter size) as my template, so the extender is the width of a landscape sheet of paper, and the pockets are the width of a portrait sheet of paper.

I sewed mine too!
The correct measurements, so it fits on the space under the fish are in one of the DCL threads and mine was really easy to do.
We made the iron on images ourselves, I used jeans fabric and it was pretty simple sewing.

I just found these dimensions Back is 32" X 8" apparantly it should be no more than 8 inches wide. Mine is closer to 10....

We have seen many that were wider than ours (I stuck with the measurements given).
It is just much easier for people to brush up against them when they are walking by if they are wider. Otherwise it should not be a problem! :thumbsup2

I will put up a webpage with all the necessary information during my Easter holiday (which starts in 10 days!) and it will/should include, first names of all FE participants, ages of kids and stateroom numbers.
Shortly before we cruise we will send out maps (or make them downloadable from our site) of the locations of all the cabins on the ship.
I had a lot on my mind lately, so I hope you will excuse that this has taken some time. I hope to catch up with everything during my Easter Vacation! :thumbsup2

We are first timers staying in room #9158
I welcome any and all information and tips for this. Is it once a day or once a trip that you go around and delivers gifts?

Is anyone canceling that has a good deal on a room that fits 4 people? Perhaps we can discuss a transfer of the ressie to me ? Here's our dilemma - booked a great deal on a Cat 11a. Booked 3 people ( me & 2 kids) and now my mother wants to join. Can't add a 4th to our current room and I refuse to pay $3500 for a 3 nt cruise. So, anyone canceling who wants to transfer? Alternately, anyone traveling alone willing to add my mother to your ressie and off-set your full price? Will pay and of course, she will never use your room- she' ll stay with us. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!

Our problem was resolved. By some miracle, we moved up to a Cat 4B from an 11B while adding my mother, all for only $700 more!
I'd like to do the fish extender again this year- it was so fun last year!
We are 2 adults me, Connie and my mother Evelyn. With my niece Arayla aged 4 and my nephew Joaquin aged 12.

So sorry to hear your son isn't well, SaraCat. I hope you get some better news about his health soon.
Glad to hear you got your cabin sorted, conandrob240! Great news!
Hope everyone had a lovely Easter! I have been busy making our FE - it's a slow process because I don't know how to work a sewing machine and I wasn't convinced of the strength of gluing it so am had-sewing it. I'm really pleased with it, though - in fact, it seems a shame to only use it once so will probably find somewhere to hang it in the house so we can leave messages for each other! Will post a picture when I've finished.
Just been looking at the FE list - so nice to see there seem to be several children of similar ages. I was a bit concerned that our 'only' might feel a bit out of it but hopefully he will get to know lots of people!
How are everybody eles's preparations going? Anyone got any advice about Castaway Cay? What about hiring floats etc?

Hi, our family of 3 (including our 23-month old daughter) will be on board!
Splurging on a verandah.
Staying at Animal Kingdom Lodge for 5 days prior.
I've been reading the forums and just registered.
Any suggestions on things to do with young ones greatly appreciated.
We certainly are "going with the flow" and will build nap times in.
Looking forward to a nice getaway.
Take care and thanks for all of the great tips on the boards,

:woohoo: you are way ahead of me! I have not even thought about a FE design yet. Thank god my last one took only an hour and a half to make, so I guess I will be able to do it until we sail! ;) :lmao:
I know it can be daunting in the beginning but I am certain we will all be blown away when you finally post your pics.:goodvibes
As for CC - I guess I won't be much help, as we head out to Serenity Bay first thing in the morning and come back as late as possible. We are lazybones out there, no floats, no sports, no nothing! :rotfl2:

We may not do anything on this, our second leg of the b2b...it will be our 4th time in Nassau... and on the 1st part of the b2b we are doing Atlantis via the Comfort Inn (not through Disney)
So I am tempted to stay on the ship LOL (although last time we were in Nassau we cound this great food off the beaten path...may need to go there) ...then get back on the ship and do a spa appointment :thumbsup2
Anyone else doing one?

Just wanted all of you to know, one of my managers at work just got back from a 4 night cruise on the Dream. She came right over to me this morning, knowing that I am going in Aug, and told me how much I am going to LOVE the Dream!
She went with her DH (they have no kids) and her sister with her 2 kids. She said she had sooooo much fun, said that the food was excellent at all of her meals (and she did not try Palo or Remy), that the service was great, and the ship was absolutely beautiful. She loved Castaway Cay (they rented a cabana) and loved her excursion to Atlantis. She is dying to go back next year.
Her only issue was embarkation...they had boarding #19 and waited for quite a long time she said. She didn't go in the pools at all, but said her neice (age 10) thought they were crowded. The neice loved the Aqauduck, and tried out the kid's club, and liked it, but preferred to be with the family.
She was so enthusiastic telling me about it, it got me sooo excited, and thought I'd share her experience with you!

I thought you could only book one online if you are in the concierge rooms? And that you could check when you board to see if they still have any available?
I saw that in someone's TR. They really wanted one, it wouldn't allow them to book online, and they were able to get one by going to the excursions desk as soon as they got on board....
Good luck if that is the case!

I was filling in some of the online check in and was wondering about arrival time to the port...
Since we are staying at WDW before the cruise, we were told there would be something in our room when we check in, telling us when the DCL bus would pick us up to bring us to the port.
Anyone know what time they normally get you there from a WDW resort so I know which time to choose for port arrival on the online form?
Thanks!

Last year we got to the port around 1 pm. Some other posters have said that choosing an arrival time is not that important if you are doing DCL transfers. :)

We have never done DCL transportation to the port, but friends did, and as far as I remember the bus picked them up after 11am and they arrived shortly before 1am at the port.

Please excuse the newbie but I have a few questions about the FE, if anyone can help!
I've made our FE and have started gathering items together as presents. Are there any rules/guidelines as to how/when we deliver? Also, will there be a cut off date for people signing up so we know how many to buy for?
I was thinking of individual presents for the children and then a shared 'goody bag' for the adults but am a bit worried that there may be adults travelling from separate households in one cabin - should I be doing them all separate presents? Or am I totally overthinking this?!
Thanks for any advice and thanks again for organising!

Alison, it has been my experience that each person does what they want...
I got individual presents (one for each person in the cabin) from some people and a "cabin" gift from others. I enjoyed each thing either way and I enjoyed giving...but like you, I think I overthought it when I was a Newb. Really no pressure... it all about the FUN Just do what your comfortable with and what makes you happy...it IS vacation:woohoo:.
There seemed (at least in my case) no schedule for delivery, whenever the person deemed it to be convenient, they delivered. I'd get new gifts in my FE late at night, midday and in the AM (fairly late sleeper myself:rolleyes:). I did my deliveries at night :rolleyes1, less people in the halls etc...
not sure if it helped but thought I'd try....Happy Memorial Day to all!

Hi Alison,
No rules for FEs! ;)
I can only give you what we learned from experience.
People give one present per stateroom, others give one to every person in the stateroom.
People do little presents, like a small one, every day (that's what we do) and others give a larger one once a trip.
Whatever you come up with is fine.
As for the cutoff date - I guess it will be when we leave for the US, August 13, as I might not be able to update, add people to the list.
Don't overthink, just have fun with it. We had a really hard time coming up with gifts this year, since we are doing 3 cruises in a row and some of the FE participants are doing that too! So we needed to come up with a lot of different presents! :scared1:
So far I have nearly done all my knitted ones, Tom has started on creating a few of his and we are slowly getting there, with the ideas slowly taking shape. This should be fun - NOT work!
Looking forward to meeting you all in person! :thumbsup2

My mom (grammy) calls it the "FE Run".... (isn't she cute)
Last year i did a back to back . For the first cruise I went to everyones door everynight of the trip and left something and then I fell on deck the first afternoon of the second cruise and hobbled to every door once and just left everything I had planned to give..... so it's up to you
I also left one gift for the adults ( a bank) as a memento of our trip (i had a hard time thinking that up and im not quite sure what I'm going to do this time) and then themed things for the kids.
No pressure... Remember it's suppose to be fun....
I told my daugther I was recruited to be a secret agent, and we had to leave something in the pockets of the FE without getting caught, the very first year we did the FE (she was 7yrs old) and she thought I was the "bestest" Mom......
be as creative or not as you want - just be comfortable!!!!!!!!!!!
And on a different note ........... I got the family cabana on the second leg of my cruise!!!!! I am NO longer disappointed but I am instead a very happy camper!!! :dance3:

:dance3:
Glad you were able to get a cabana! :goodvibes

We are leaving for the US on the 9th, so I will need to have my gifts all done before then.
Thanks for all the advice - I'll stop worrying and just go with the flow! (Anyone else got that song stuck in their head now?!)

I just checked the other cruise meet thread that I am subscribed to and they chose July 1st for their FE cut off date. So everyone will have ample time to get all the gifties done with no sweat.
So, I think I am now going to make July 15 the latest date to sign up for our FE exchange. Hope this is okay with everyone!
Lots of good food on the Disney ships! ;) And BTW, Alison, I am in the middle of a trip report from that trip last summer - so if you want to check out our adventures on the Wonder, the link is in my signature. ;)

:woohoo: for scoring a cabana! We got one too! :woohoo: :thumbsup2

Well....just tried to add my neice to our room and found out that it would cost me almost as much as I paid for the ENTIRE 3 day cruise for my son and I when I booked. :scared1:
Thats how much the price gone up since I first booked... On the good side I saved lots of money booking so early...but I am bummed I can't afford to bring her with us for the three day leg.
Oh well ya win some ya lose some....:confused3
Got the FE stuff today for the leg I am participating in...just need to put them together ....:thumbsup2

We had the same issue when in tried to add my mom. We paid around $1000 for 3 people - lowest category and it was $1000 to add my mom. A few weeks ago, we got lucky and we added her for $800 more but went up to a cat 4 so it worked out great!

Yea... I like my niece alot ...but not another $800 worth :rotfl:
maybe next time I will just add a third party "ghost" ...then I can make the decision later.
Desktop puter just died:headache: Will be spending at least $1000 for a new one pre trip - My son's puter games require a certain level of graphics.... I AM making him work for $$ towards it :rolleyes1 my house and yard will be amazingly clean all summer:thumbsup2
Oh...and Hello from Disneyland...having a ball here, World of Color was amazing!!! Happy Day all!

LOL. I understand. It only worked out for us because 1) My MOM PAID her $800 add on and 2) we went from lowest inside category to highest balcony so it was okay by me: goodvibes
However, we are still waiting for our guaranty cabin # to be assigned. The waiting is killing me!

Thanks for adding the link again for the FE Karin!
I am really hoping we get our cabin assignment for the list soon, but the TA I booked the cruise through sent me this email today:
I have been checking with Disney every week but so far no cabin assignment. It looks like we it could be up to a week or two before sail date before we know what cabin has been assigned, but I will continue to check and let you know as soon as I do. There is the possibility that we will not know until you get to the pier (Surprise!).
:confused3 I really don't like not knowing!

You are welcome!
You should get your cabin assignment with your cruise papers, but if you don't, could you just leave a note in the other people's FE with your stateroom number?
Problem is ..... Tom and I leave Austria on August 13 and will have limited internet access until August 21, when we board the DREAM. Since internet is pretty expensive on board (and PRETTY slow) I am not sure we will pay for having access, so there will be no way for us to update.
Any time before August 13 - NO problem. Let's just keep our fingers crossed and hope that you will know before we leave! :goodvibes
