For the first time, we are inviting friends to go to VWL next July. What do you recommend? I currently have a 2 BR lock off. I figured that the other family would enjoy the "kitchenette". We are not pariticularly close but do plan to do some things together. Do you think I should have gotten the dedicated 2BR instead? The points were the same for both. Thanks!

You'll be fine with the lock-off. They will have their own private entrance and a balcony and the connecting door can remain unlocked so the villa will "feel" just like a dedicated 2BR.

We have had dedicated and lock-off 2BR's with friends and never felt a difference.

Have a great trip! :)

One thing to consider - the dedicated 2 bedrooms at VWL have 2 queens, the lockoffs 1 queen & a double sofabed. They may have a preference.

I wouldn't even ask for one over the other. Unless people are going to be sleeping in the living room and they are going to be out late without others from your parts, it really doesn't make a difference. They are both the exact some units excet for the extra door to the unit and the kitchenette.

I would make other requests way before I would express a preference on lock-off vs dedicated.

Speaking from experience, we holidayed in May staying in a dedicated 2 bedroom both at OKW and Vero with friends whom we are extremely close.

It will always be my regret that we did not opt for a lock off 2 bedroom where we could seperate the living area as it were.

Having seperate bedrooms but sharing the communal living area did not work for us at all. Although we did not fall out in any way, we found that they did things that annoyed us and visa versa.

Our friendship will recover no doubt, but it will take time to get back to where we were.

I would go with the lock-off for privacy reasons, for each family. Better yet, based on some of the threads I've read recently, get them a studio in another area of the WLV!;)

I'd recommend the Lock-off, it just affords the others a bit more privacy. They can re-treat to the studio and not need to enter the main quarters. We're bringing my parents and I requested a lock-off because I want them to be able to have complete privacy. If they become sick of my children they can just lock them out!;) Really though, they have medical needs (one has diabetes and ane has eyedrops that need refrigerated) and expressed concerns about imposing upon us during our vacation. A lock-off was the only way we could convince them to join us.

I would get a one bedroom for myself and a separate and totally independent studio for them. I like the space it gives you.

Thanks for all your input. These friends are really closer to DH and the ideas of a separate studio are really good, but I think I'd offend them already if I got them a separate studio. I can see that I'll be the one to lock off our section, the 1BR, sooner than they will want to lock us out!!!!!;)
