LOL! My DS went through a stage when "washing his Hair" just meant getting it wet! No shampoo- just water! :p

A dip in our swimming pool constitutes a bath.

That's so funny, I hear that all the time (2 boys, 11 & 12)!
I thought that was a typical man's idea of personal grooming..
Brush teeth, deodorant, hat....:o

My 12 yo must be an oddball. This summer he's been waking up, getting a shower, going out to play, comes back and gets a shower in the afternoon, goes back out and sometimes will even get a shower at night. I know it's just a phase and I'm so happy he's clean! :D
This is the same kid who slicked his hair with gel and wore cologne to kindergarten. :teeth:

LOL! I remember when my nephew went through that stage. He also thought washing his hair meant just wetting it down.

Girl's can have some bad habits too.
My niece was about 8 when she said to my sister one day "Do you know that some people change their underwear everyday?" My DS said "Ummmmmm, don't you?" DN saw no point in changing them since they were covered by her pants and in her mind they didn't get dirty. My sister had to start counting the underwear in the laundry:p

I don't have any sons, but I guess I'm not missing out anymore. Because my 29 year old husband does that!!

My nephew is at the other end of the spectrum. When he lived with us the kid would take almost an hour to get ready to go out. Shower, styling the hair, mousse, hair spray. Finally, I told him that his cousin (our daughter) didn't take that long to get ready to go out. And this included putting on makeup.
Woohoo posts have hit the triple digits!!!!

When mine was that age he always said the same thing when he went to get a haircut. He didn't want a buzz cut, but he wanted it short enough that he wouldn't "have to comb it".
One Sunday (several years ago) I asked him if he had combed his hair and he said "Yes, . . . last Wednesday." :teeth:
I am ROTFLMBO....when I was a kid, I was raised with my cousin who was only 40 days younger than me. He went through a stage at about that age where he slept with the hat on, so it would stay flat even if the hat fell off....GROSS!!!!

I don't know if my 35 yo SO wears a hat because he's not happy with his hair or if he's afraid he'd blind somebody.:o Our 6 yo ds will wear one every now and then, but he hates how it messes up his hair.

I like the swimming pool/bath analogy! :p

I wish I had a pool:rolleyes: Once DS was sitting in front of the fan with his shoes off and seemed surprised when I evacuated the area!

Oh Kim I can totally relate to the "When did you last shower question", sometimes my DS-13 hesitates so long I know he can't remember...........If you can't remember then it's been WAY TOO LONG!!

I almost passed out when my almost 12 yr old DS asked if he should take a shower last night. Usually we have to drag him in there kicking and screaming "I just took a shower the other day". He even started laying out clothes for school and asking me to IRON them. Must be the cute girls he told be about in choir.
My oldest DS (17) used to be the same way until he hit about 14. Then he started showering, geling, shaving:rolleyes: applying deordorant. We knew it wasn't for us.

My 13 DS figured he should be able to get two days wear out of his reversible basketball jersey --- after all he DID change sides!

Yes, it must be the girls...during school year there is a lot of aftershaving and gel application. Doesn't see much of them in summer so why bother??!!

I have 4 boys-fortunately for me the 2 littles smell pretty good since they are 2.5 yrs and 5 months I still manage their bathing.
My oldest ds 15 yrs does indeed bath and use cologne--deodorant however could be questionablebut getting better since he now wants the girls to run after him and not away. My 12 yr old feels even 1 drop of water on his body constitutes a bath. I feel 2-3 more yrs and hopefully he too will want to smell really good for the girls.
