When we were on Castaway Cay we noticed a cat wandering around. I wondered if there were other animals on the island and how the heck they got there.
Just wondering.

There are about 50 crew members who live on Castaway Cay year-round, so maybe she was a pet?

It was on the main path to the family beach almost in front of Cookies. We only saw it once and we were one of the first off the ship.

Wow! I had no idea that 50 or so Cast Members lived on the island. Where do they stay? What do they do when no one is there? Gosh, I will volunteer to live there! :p

We saw the cat in the same area as well. We thought it was funny to see a cat. The one we saw was a tiger-ish looking one with a real long tail and legs.

If you look at one of the "overhead" maps of the island you'll notice that only the "front" half is open to guests. If I recall from what I've read over the years the "back" half is where the permanent cast lives. I'm not so sure I'd want that post during hurricane season. Evacuating would be tough!

We too saw the cat. He had a torn ear. He was at cookies and we fed him (don't tell anyone!) Someone said there were several. Just FYI Elaine

Disney has brought some pre-fabricated dormitories onto the island. The CM's share these, two to a room. They are air-conditioned. And mostly, I think, the CM's have to hole up in there at night because the mosquitos and black flies can be pretty bad at Castaway Cay at night.
