Happy July, Team!!! :welcome:

Express your Independence! We shall be Free to race!!!

We are so into the dog days of summer! But the garden is starting to produce vegetables! I have picked 7 gallons of apricots! Life is Good!

Team Bios

Steffwalks, aka Connie - Captain. I am 53 years old, married with Two children and 5 Grandchildren living in the panhandle of Texas. First race at 49 years and 9 months and it was a trail race, just about killed me!! I am working on weight loss and P90X. I prefer the half marathon as a walker. My most recent hobby, mule rider!

Funwalker, aka Margie - Official Record Keeper of HK. walker. widow; I live in Portage MI
Did my 1st race when I turned 60, Full Marathon at the 2005 Columbus Marathon. I prefer Half Marathons for training and distance.

Windwalker, aka Dave and/or Panda - I'm 58 and live in a small town in Kentucky. I don't run I walk, race walk actually and I'm currently training for another shot at the National Senior Olympics. I have the state trials in Sept and if I place there I get a slot on the Ky team that will go to Houston next year for the nationals. I'm single.

flipflopmom, aka Taryn - I will be 35 on Sept. 5. I am a Kindergarten Teacher, working on my master's degree in my "spare"time. Married for 12 years, have 2 girls. Oldest is 10, and a competitive gymnast. Her gym is 45 minutes away,so I spend a lot of time on the road. Youngest is 3, and a tons of fun! I haven't run a race yet, but looking for a 5K.

Motomiker, aka Mike - I have lived in and around Lake in the Hills Illinois and have worked in the grocery business for almost 20 years. married in 2008 to my wife (Liz). One son (Rober). Working on baby number two. I was diagnosed with colon cancer in the fall of 2009 and had surgery. I am still cancer free! My other interests are varied: Disney nut, Disney pins collector, love movies (mostly Sci-fi), scrapbooking, travel, a New England Patriots fan. and 5ks . I did my first adventure race recently, and am planning some more.

LynnG, aka Lynn - (of Lynn and Scott), 59 years old, retired We are both Disneyholics – we have been members of DVC since it started. I am a walker, I used to try to run, but since knee surgery last August which I am still trying to recover from, I only walk now. I have done several half marathons, mostly Disney ones. I have 2 malamutes that are my walking companions at home.

Villians_Rock, aka Eva - I am 31 years old, married to Jordan (proud WISH supporter) and have just recently had our first baby, Gage. We currently live near Cleveland, OH. I'm a full time staffing coordinator for Continental Airlines and my hubby sells Harley Davidsons. I ran my first race in 2007 and have since ran 5Ks, 10Ks, one half marathon and completed the Disney Full Marathon in 2009. Before the baby, I was most comfortable running and training at a half marathon distance.

MaryJ aka Mary I am 53 years old, and live in a small town in Southwestern Indiana. I will be married to DH (Ken) for 34 years in July. We have 3 daughters and 2 granddaughters. I walk/run my races. I did my first big race (WDW Half) when I was 52. Before that I had done only a few 5K's, mostly walking.

GirltheGecko aka Hope. I grew up in the Pittsburgh area. When I was a teenager, I was heavily into martial arts, unfortunately due to school and time, I had to quit. I met Nick, moved to NH, and I gained some weight. I watched my mother struggle with obesity all her life, so Nick's family and I decided to work at trying for a half marathon at WDW.

es45 aka Elizabeth: I'm 41 and married with 2 children, DD9 and DD6. I'll run my first 5k in July and walking with my best friend in the 2011 Princess Half. If I'm ready, I plan to run my first half marathon in late October.

piglet24, aka Regina I grew up in Idaho and married my “birthday buddy”, Kyle, in 2006. There has been a great deal of stress in my life recently that I do not have the ability to change right now, so I decided to try running to help manage the stress and give myself goals to work toward and focus on. Right now I’m working toward my first half marathon in October (Wine and Dine).

Hey Team!

Gosh, this month has gone by sooooooooooo slowly sooooooooo quickly! The "mess" has finally been further resolved. My DD31 is getting through it. She can be a real trooper, of course, I am certain that she doesn't much let her mother see her cry. She is a fine woman, and tough one too!

My weight hasn't changed since the 17 pounds. Stress just takes it's toll! Cortisole is NOT our friend!!

DH, Jon is finally back to work. He was a real grumpy bear. Gentlemen, please take note! An old lady puts an old man in a nursing home for his Safety!!! :lmao: The good news he is recovering nicely and becoming his old sweet Teddy Bear self again.

I am still not walkiing like I would like. The tendonitis keeps improving, but the heat isn't!!! :lmao: Between doing Jon's chores, my chores, gardening, taking care of the livestock and company, I haven't had a second to myself.

Sorry that I can't get back to each of you I have missed you all.

See ya - Connie

My poor coworker is still out with an injury. She's improving but not ready to come back. Then, my other coworker was in a car accident. He's fine, but the car he just fixed up was totaled. There's some bad mojo floating around my department. Though, I got the news I waited a decade to hear. So the stress is bouncing right off of me. I feel like I'm walking on sunshine though.

Hi Team,

Elizabeth- I’m sure you can do it! It sounds like fun! I’m working on training for my first half in October as well.

Margie- Going to the zoo sounds like a great way to exercise to me. You have a busy weekend ahead of you.

Sue- Thanks for the congrats! So have things mellowed now? Any reason you decided to change up your training? Nevermind…. Margie already asked you. Good luck with your hills and speed work.

Lynn- Good luck with getting back into training. Glad you had an awesome trip!

Vicky- I totally agree. I would much rather run in the cold. In fact, I rather enjoyed it when I was out running in the cold and very few others were out and about running/walking. We have been having thunderstorms here, but even when those come the weather has stayed warm. It doesn’t drop below 80 until 9:30p or 10p here, which seems late to be running when I have to work the next day. That’s cool you guys are at least getting some cool weather. Is that normal for Ontario this time of year? I’m sorry to hear you’re having personal issues….awesome job keeping up with training, running, and eating though!!! :thumbsup2 That’s very impressive!!

Dave- I’m glad your workout went well today! What kind of fish tank are you and Sally getting? What kind of fish did you buy?

Connie- Haha, I’m glad Jon is recovering and getting back to his sweet self.

Hope- Sounds like there is really bad mojo in your department! What news have you been waiting a decade to hear? Congratulations (whatever it is)!!

AFM, ran 4 miles on TM today. Still kept a really slow pace (12min miles), but it went ok. No plans for the weekend, just spending time with DH and other family.

Also, I forgot to ask. Do most of you have WISH shirts? Do you recommend getting one? Is it a really florescent green?

Scott H
07-01-2010, 07:54 AM
Regina, re WISH shirts florescent green- Ya really can't miss them....

Yesterday at PT Test knee went pop, ortho appointment for next week, Lynn has been great, sore and swollen this morning, worries me about the fall races we have planned.

Lynn was out for a good long walk with the dogs.

Hey Team!!!

Regina - As Scott said, the shirts are indeed flourescent green. I would suggest you get a shirt or cap. I wear them to races and have "found" fellow team members that way. Plus, they are great conversation starter! -- I have added your bio! Thanks!

Scott - Oh no! Good luck with that knee. I hope you guys had a great time!

Dave - I am just getting out of the aquarium/fish stuff. I have had to 20 gallong tanks for about 13 years.

Margie - Good morning. Did you register for that race? I have nothing on the horizon except to get my back in shape. I have another adjustment on Friday.

Hope - Glad you have good news!

Hope everyone is planning a great holiday!

See ya soon - Connie

The wheels have started to turn to allow my dad out of prison. Hooray! So, we have finally a real glimmer of hope that he might be there (depending on parole rules--a priority to follow) at my wedding. :bride:

Good Morning Team!

Connie - it sounds like you need some :grouphug::grouphug: and pixiedust:

Today I made it 5 miles, pace a bit slower. I have been getting out about 5 - 5:30 am for our walks. It is still relatively cool (60 degrees) at that time in the morning. Today I got chaffed under my arm, that has never happened on a relatively short walk before - tomorrow will be body glide!

Take care everyone, have a great day!

Soooo.....I may be running the Wine and Dine Half!!!!

Jordan's 10 year high school reunion is the same week and he wants to go to it. I had been looking at this race...not thinking that it was the same weekend, and had been minutes away from booking when I realized that it was a conflict. So I left it up to him...he is thinking about it...

*fingers crossed*

Hope - Good news about your Dad!! I hope he is able to make it for your big day!!!

Lynn - Good job getting out there for those early walks! How are the pups? They are probably glad you guys are home!

Regina - Yes...get a WISH shirt! You will want one when you are out there on the race course. I can't tell you how many WISHers I chatted with on the course at the marathon last year!

Connie - How are the tendons?!? I hope you are feeling better!

To the rest of you... :wave2:

Yes, I hope so too. But if not, we'll just see if we can do a web cast. But, just having him out will be a blessing. I just don't want him violating parole in any way. But, having him not there due to parole is better then not having him there due to prison. Once we have the pictures and DVD, we can visit him out there and share that part.

Hey Team,

Hope- I’m glad you got the news you have wanted to hear.

Scott, Margie, Connie, and Eva- Thanks for the feedback on the WISH shirts!! I appreciate it!

I am strongly considering getting one- I’m just a little concerned about the florescent brightness! Green is one of my favorite colors, but I typically try to steer clear of neons and florescents. I think I’m already 85% talked into it, but we'll see...

Margie- You are getting with it! :ccat: I would be ready for a nap too!

Eva- I hope Jordan decides in your favor for Wine and Dine!

Jennifer- Good luck in your race this weekend! :cheer2:

Kim- Good luck in your race this weekend! :cheer2:

AFM, DH and I were going to go to the gym tonight, but I didn’t get off work until 7:30pm and it was a particularly rough day at work. Sooo exhausted now and I have been since I walked in the door. :faint: I will double up tomorrow and do weights and run. :thumbsup2

Have a great evening everyone.

Well today is the day that my ex is throwing our daughter and grandbaby out in the street, she turned off her cell phone, took the honda, we had bought for our daughter, I was paying half of, for herself and is putting them on the street without jobs, car or money. All so she can move to New Jersey and live close to her married lover that she met on line. You think you know someone and then they turn into something you don't even recognise.

Unfortunately I didn't see this coming when we divorced and I'm obligated in the divorce decree to pay half the honda, half that phone bill and half the home equity loan on the house. I was doing it to help with the support of our daughter and grandbaby. Now I'm trying to get her to take a cash settlement so I can be free of that and help my daughter myself.

Sorry to vent guys but that's kinda where my heart and thoughts are today.

I'll be dealing with this for the next month or so, it's a battle I've got to win.

Good Morning Team!

Margie – it is not like I was a couch potato before adding miles, it is just that I have not been doing longer distances on a regular basis – and we did A LOT of walking on vacation, so if I counted that – I probably have some very high milage days in there.

Eva – the dogs are always glad to see us! They put on a little weight in the kennel, so they need the new walking regime also!

Kim – Have a great race!

Dave - sorry to hear that you are having more problems with Erica – pixiedust: and :grouphug: for you.

Jennifer – good luck at Peachtree!

I got in my 6 miles this morning, can’t say what my pace was because my Garmin battery died on me this morning, so I grabbed Scott’s and his battery was dead also. It was a slow pace, I timed the walk, but not exactly, and I had to stop to give dogs water a few times. It was rather warm out there today. Now I will try to get into my old routine of alternating 6 mile and 3 mile walks with one longer one weekly and get some weights into the picture!

Scott says his knee is feeling better, but he is still limping around the house, he thinks he will try the exercise bike – very slowly, for some range of motion.

Have a great day all!

Thanks for the warm welcome! To see my first race in bold letters on the first page of this thread is refocusing my efforts to complete it. I must admit, I'm nervous about being last, not finishing, or not starting at all. We are off to the beach this weekend but I plan to train every morning, just to keep up the momentum. Happy 4th everyone!

Hi everyone! Just a quick post before I head off for the weekend!

Margie - Can you put me down for the Acura 10-Miler, Toronto, ON on July 11th. I'm not quite sure I'm prepared for this race but I guess we'll see. :upsidedow

Dave - and pixiedust: Just wow! I hope you're able to get everything sorted out. Are your daughter and grandchild coming to live with you?

Jennifer - Glad to hear you're doing ok! Good luck with your race this weekend!

Elizabeth - Don't worry about where you finish in the race! You're going to start and that's the important thing! As long as you keep up with your training, you'll do fine :) And even if you don't ... you'll still finish (speaking from experience). We're all here to cheer you on!!

Regina - Would life really be all that interesting without a few personal problems  I think I'd rather be boring. Did you manage to run and do weights today? I have a WISH shirt and felt a little funny about wearing it at first but when you'll love all the cheers you get at the Disney races! Just make sure you check for the sizing - the women's one I have is a little on the short side. Alternatively, if you're really shy, you can get a WISH hat or visor instead.

Scott - Hope your knee is feeling better pixiedust: How did your PT test go?

Lynn - I've had my Garmin conk out on my a couple of times during my run. I have a 405 and sometimes I'm not very careful about putting the charging leads on properly so I'll think it's charging but really it's not.

Eva - The Wine & Dine sounds like so much fun! What perfect timing for Jordan's reunion! Is he going to be running as well or just cheering you on and watching Gage?

AFM - I did my LR of 14K and change yesterday (about 8.8 miles). I normaly do my LR on Saturday but since the weekend is looking to be 80F+, I figured Thursday would be perfect. Got in a nice pace of 10.35 m/m and there were a few hills on my route too! But I'm still on run/walk intervals... hoping to get in 5 miles tonight after work and will head to the gym tomorrow for training. Probably will do deadlifting and some weights.

I forgot to mention that I snapped my Garmin watch band earlier this week :headache: It must be all those weights I've been doing :rolleyes1 Haha! I think I just pulled it at the right angle and it snapped off. I ordered a replacement band and was all excited when I got free upgraded shipping and the package arrived yesterday at the FedEx depot. I figured I might as well pick it up since it's around the corner but they won't release it because it's not scheduled to be delivered until Monday. I guess they're really strict about that two business day thing. :sad2: I get that they won't deliver it early but why can't I pick it up?? Oh well, I guess I'll be holding my watch and running for another few days...

Have a great weekend everyone!

Hi Team!

Lynn and Scott - Thanks for the hugs and pd! Much appreciated.

Vickie - Good to see you! Wow you must be one buff bunny with all that weight lifting! ;)

Margie - Missing you!

Dave - I guess you never really know a person. Are you going to reclaim the house?

Regina - Go for the WISH shirt. It has the great sayings on it! Even non-wihers love the shirt and let's face it...once you've done a mile or two in a race, it doesn't matter what you have on, it doesn't look all that pretty! :rotfl: Besides, the race photos are easier to find in the neon!!!

Elizabeth - Glad to have you on board :sail: Remeber, the race is between you and the distance and possibly a time limit. No one else matters and no one else counts! "Dead Last Finish beats Did NOT Finish which greatly trumps did not start". Go for it!!!

Jennifer - Good luck! So glad that you are feeling better!

Eva - HI!!! :flower3: my fingers are crossed!!!

Kim - Good luck, buff baby!

Garmin Lovers - Did you know....if your Garmin conks out, you can have it repaired or replaced with a reconditioned one for less than $100! Check out the Garmin website. The last time I looked, a 305 could be repaired or replaced for $60.

AFM - Slapped hard with an ugly cold, yesterday. Feeling somewhat better today. Went to the doc for a neck adjustment. I don't know if I feel good or not! :lmao:

See ya - Connie

Hi Team!

Dave- I’m so sorry to hear the bad news about your daughter and grandbaby. Hang in there! Grrrr!

Jennifer- That’s great you’re ok! Thanks for checking in.

Lynn- How often do you have to charge the Garmin battery? Great job on the 6 mile walk! Hope Scott’s knee feels better!

Elizabeth- You can do it!:goodvibes You will start and you will finish! It doesn’t matter what place you come in as long as you finish. Even if by some weird chance you did come in last (which I doubt you will), it gives you a starting point and something to work toward and beat…if you so choose. Think positive! Vicky is right…the whole team will be cheering you on. :thumbsup2 Have fun at the beach!

Vicky- :lmao: I think life would still be interesting without personal problems, but perhaps we might not appreciate the calm times as much?? Yes, I did manage to run and do weights today…at about 10:00p.m. this evening! :confused3 It actually went really well and I was very pleased when I left, which surprised me because it was so late. Awesome job on your long run!! WTG!!! Fed Ex........doesn't make any sense!

Connie- :rotfl: Good point! You’re right, it won’t matter a few miles in when I’m dripping with sweat and trying to keep moving. I hope you feel better soon!

Margie- Were the other people WISH members or just random people? Hope you enjoyed your rest day!

AFM, I am going to order a wish shirt- what the heck. Sounds like it will be very nice to have. What exactly does it say on the shirt (besides WISH of course)?

Ran 3 miles on TM and did some weights- mainly focused on legs. Will make sure I work on core tomorrow. Workout went really well. DH and I both had the day off so we slept in, did a few house chores, went shopping for a few more shirts/shorts :woohoo:, and went to dinner at Red Robin.

A night's sleep and remembering the serenity prayer that I wear on a chain around my neck. "Give me the serenity to accept the things I can not change, the courage to change the things I can and the wisdom to know the difference." Time to start making the changes I can, Grrrrrrrrrrr!!!

I'm starting with a pool workout since that is about all I can do with this PF issue. I beat back the achilles tendinitis, I'll beat this to.

My daughter, her husband and baby are moved in with his grandmother, all of them unemployed, but it's a roof over their head. Now it's time to see what they will do to help them selves with what guidance I'm able to give them.

"Keep moving forward", Hummm now where have I heard that before?

Good Saturday!

Regina - The race shirts are cool and they have the slogan, DLF>DNF>>DNS, which means, Dead last finish beats did not finish which greatly trumps did not start, on the back. At the bottom is a feather, reminder of Dumbo. Dumbo thought he could only fly when he held the feather, but later learned he could fly without it and still do great things. We can all fly!

Dave - How do you solve a problem? Same way you eat an elephant. Hang in, the darkness leads to light!

Good luck Jennifer and Kim!!

Yo Mike!

Margie - Yes, I got an adjustment. I still need another. That mule toss effected my shoulders worst. Partly because I landed on them! Enjoy your workouts.

Lynn it's complicated. I moved into a small efficiency apartment and my ex and I made an agreement that we would split the expense of getting our daughter and her husband and baby on there feet. We bought her a new honda for reliable long term transportation, put them on our cell phone contract and agreed to split the cost of the home equity loan on the house since they were living there also. Well Erica sold her VW and took the honda for herself leaving the kids without transportation at all, turned off their phones and evicted them from the house. I wasn't smart enough to see that coming and trusted her to take care of them. So now I'm obligated to half the honda payment, half the phone bill and half the home equity loan since the agreement on taking care of the kids was verbal and the divorce decree says that I pay half the home equity loan. I'm trying to negotiate a settlement with her so I can get final closure to this.

Yesterday was when she evicted the kids and they are staying with his grand mother. I don't have room for them or the funds to provide a place for them since they are unemployeed.

I'm joining the injured club too - I tweaked my lower back on Thursday and it's been sore for the past few days. It's not as bad as it could be - I can still walk and do very basic stretches but running, lifting and intense workouts are out right now. I'm glad I was able to get all my running out of the way earlier this week. I'm going for an adjustment with my chiro tomorrow if things don't get better.

Hope - Sorry I missed your posting about your dad earlier. That's fantastic news and I hope he's able to take part in your wedding!

Margie - I'm looking forward to the new strap and FedEx finally getting here! I emailed them to ask them why they wouldn't release the package and they said that it was in a container that was locked. They said that packages on 2Day delivery don't get sorted until the morning they're going to be delivered.

Kim/Jennifer - Good luck with your races! Can't wait to hear about them.

Scott - Hope your knee feels better soon. Did something happen to it while you were in Europe?

Dave - Ditto! Many times when I'm feeling down, I'll go back to the email you sent me and it puts a smile on my face (which is not very often these days). Keep us posted on Mary and Aiden. I've got my fingers crossed that things will work out for everyone!

Connie - I thought I was the only one who caught a cold this summer. I'll join the cold club too but hope not to be a member for very long. Thanks for the Garmin info! So far things have been ok with mine. I just managed to destroy the strap  Hope your shoulder feels better soon pixiedust:

Regina - WTG on your running and weights! The place where I train is only open until 8PM. I sometimes wish it was open later but since I run in the morning, it's probably better for me that way. :) Btw, you'll love the WISH shirt! It will still match with gray, blue, black and white clothes so no worries!

AFM - I've been having quite the past days - cold, back pain, relationship stuff and I cried at the doctor's office. There's nothing wrong with me or bad news - it was just stress. I was unbelievably embarassed even though he was nice about it.

One nice thing that did happen this week was that one of the executive assistants at work helped to arrange a job interview for me. Not sure of the job details exactly but it would be working with a group of investment advisors and their clients. I would be moving out of the head office and into a branch if I got the job so the environment would be different. Maybe it's the change I need. Of course, I have to take and pass 3 courses over the next 6 months in order to keep the job (the company pays if I pass). You know what my first thoughts are - What about the marathon in January? How am I going to train for that and study at the same time

Anyway, Happy 4th of July to all my American teammates! Hope you're having a great day and enjoying the long weekend! :wave2:

Happy Independence Day, TEAM!!!

Margie - No, I didn't have problems with my 305, but I was having some problems with my auto Garmin and had to order a new part. I got to looking around at Garmin.com and found out that you can do this with almost all of the Garmin products. Some products cost more and some less, but sure is cheaper than throwing one away and buying new!

Dave - I have found with my own children, the more you help; the less they can do for themselves. Benjamin Franklin said it well when he commented that if you make people comfortable in their poverty, they have no reason to leave it. IF they need a car, a used car is good enough! Afterall, you don't drive a new car!! I am not saying you don't help, but there is a difference between helping them get on their feet and crippling them from kindness!!! You should talk to your attorney about the Honda or better yet, quit paying on it. What is she going to do, take you to court...before or after she pays for it.

Vickie - Boy, are we two peas in a pod, this week! Colds and backs! Now if I could just get buff, like you!

Scott - Take care of that knee!

What Margie said!

I am working on a new fitness idea. My doctor suggested that I do it when I am not training for a race. It is interval training...but different from what we normally think of as intervals. It starts with a warm up of between 1-5 minutes followed by an intense interval working at approximately 50% of peak, for 30 to 45 seconds, (or longer if you can). Then you do recovery for about 2 minutes or until you are compeletly recovered and breathing normally. That's followed by an interval of 75% of peak performance for about 20 to 30 seconds, again followed by a recovery. Finally, you hit 100% peak for at least 10 seconds, (as in ..you are running for your life!!), followed by recovery and then hit your 50% interval again and cool down. It's hard to do on a treadmill, but you can work into it. It's much easier to do on an exercise bike or a regular bike. It is supposed to keep your cardiovascular system in peak performance even when you are suffering injury. THe whole thing shouldn't take more than 30 minutes, tops! Plus, I am still going to fit P90X in. No plateaus, any more!

See ya! Connie

Connie and Lynn, yes I'm not going to empower them to stay dependent on others. The Honda was supposed to be a long term solution to their transportation needs. It would have been a car that would have lasted them many years and been very fuel efficient. My plan was to set them up with an apartment close to many places to work, the car and the understanding that at the end of the year they were on their own. But instead I ended up in the apartment and own my own. Hummmm....:upsidedow

Margie - knees are still an issue, I was told that the one I had surgery on would be as good as it will get in a year and it will be a year next month - so I think it is now as good as it gets. it is tolerable if I take ibuprofen once to twice a day. At times, the "good knee" hurts more than the "bad knee". I really need to work on weights - that will help both knees.

Hi team!

I want to apologize to all of you for not checking in lately. I have been a poor team mate.
I ran eight miles today after almost three weeks without any training and my body is mad at me. I'm afraid that I lost my running mojo while doing a race in Chicago a couple of weeks ago. I was about half way out in a 5K and realized that I was miserable and had a "why am I doing this?" moment. It had really put me down and I think I was getting burned out. In the last week and a half all I have done is work and sleep and have been really tired. There is also some family issues that have been weighing on me and keeping me preoccoupied. At work, I've been flying around the store like a maniac and getting more done than I have in a long time. Somehow my energy switched to other outlets without me making a specific decision on doing so!

BUT TODAY, (and thanks to Dave for helping me with this! ) I forced myself out of my doldrums and stepped back towards the right track. I pushed myself to complete the eight miles and really wanted to quit a couple of times. I also knew that it would be the mental/spiritual edge that I needed to break the non-training cycle so I finished it (in some pain from my arthritis) but I never gave into quitting. Dave, your posts on facebook have brought me back from the edge. I owe you! The past is the past and will not hinder my start to today! I will see those of you who are registered at the Wine and Dine half marathon in October!

I promise to be a better teamate and keep up my contributions to all of you! MIKE :cool2:

Hey Team!

Margie, Connie, Vicky & Lynn- Thanks for the feedback on the shirts! I’ve e-mailed my order and am waiting for an invoice to finish the purchase! :thumbsup2

Margie- Hope you had a great day.

Vicky- How’s your back feeling? Did you get your new strap? The gym we use has a key card so we can access it 24 hours a day. Comes in pretty hand occasionally! Are things going a little better for you now? Haha, I wouldn’t feel too bad about crying at the Dr.’s office…stuff happens sometimes and it sounds like you were really overloaded with things on your plate. I sure hope this week goes better for you! When’s the job interview? How exciting!! I'll keep my fingeres crossed for you!

Connie- The new workout interval sounds interesting. When do you plan to start it? That's quite a bit of squash. Sounds yummy.

Sue- Have a great run this evening!

Lynn- Hope you had a great walk with the dogs.

Mike- Welcome back! I’m glad you made it through your 8 mile run the today. I’m sorry to hear you were having a rough time. I can relate with the struggle to keep going when you have a bad running day or other life things happen. Hang in there and keep moving forward! I’m looking forward to seeing you at Wine and Dine! To order a shirt go to the RaceReady Coolmax WISH post. You will have to e-mail your order, I believe. I just ordered mine yesterday.

AFM- I ran 4 miles today and did a core workout. I had the day off as work office was closed today. I always enjoy a day off… don’t wanna go back to work tomorrow...if only the weekends (short and long) went a little bit slower. :sad2:

Hi team! Just a quick fly-by for me tonight. Well I sent in my resume this morning and a couple of hours later, the branch manager called me back and I have an interview set up for tomorrow afternoon at 1PM. So if you remember, please send me some good thoughts and pixie dust around then :goodvibes I'll let everyone know how it goes tomorrow night.

Regina - The back is feeling better! Thanks for asking! I went for an adjustment tonight with my chiro and got a little bit of everything - ART, stretches, back cracking and my favorite acupuncture (well not really)! Yeah, I have a lot on my plate - just relationship stuff :( I think that we're finished and I hadn't wanted to post that before because ... well maybe I was an optimist or just in denial. Or probably just not spontaneously combusting into tears. I think my doctor described it as being like post traumatic stress disorder. Anyway, that's me in a nutshell... emphasis on nut. :upsidedow

Mike - You have been doing a lot of racing lately. One thing I've found about races is that it keeps you running but constantly adhering to a training schedule is very taxing mentally. Maybe you need a bit of break for a few weeks... go for a couple of runs just for fun, without the Garmin. I know, easier said than done

Sue - I put the band onto the Garmin today and I will give it a try on Wednesday. I want to give my back a chance to rest from the treatment today. Not to worry I will post :)

Kim/Sue - Let me know if you gals are interested in ordering WISH shirts. Since the shipping to Canada is double, maybe we can split the costs.

Margie - The ankle is definitely better :) But my PT says that tissues and muscle injuries can take up to 9 months to a year to heal so I'm still taping it up every time I run.

Dave -

Scott/Lynn - Did you see the dog crash? Yikes!

Anyway have a great night everyone!

Good Morning Team!

Vicky, Here's some pd for your interview. :wizard: Glad to hear your back is feeling better.

Margie, Have fun in the sprinkler. Oh to be a kid again.

Connie, Our neighbour has a small garden. I love to come home to find a bag of treats she has left for us. Living in the city having a veg. garden is not that common.

Regina, When you figure out how to slow down weekend time I so want in. A 2 (3/4) day weekend is never long enough.

AFM, Went out late for last nights run & then took the dog for his walk. Humidity is one energy zapper.

Stay cool........Sue

Good Morning Team!

Mike – Welcome back! We all burn out occasionally – I at least have dogs that need to be walked, so I am always walking, but sometimes not at training speed or form. As for ordering a WISH shirt, look for the thread about ordering, I saw it not too long ago.

Connie – yes, I am still using the bike, it is a nice afternoon break, as it is in the basement and it is nice and cool down there. Of course, in this weather, I could take the street bike out!

Regina – the dogs always enjoy their walks, yesterday’s was not long, but I did do the planned 3 miles today.

Vicki – good luck on your interview! pixiedust:

As I said, got in only a short walk yesterday, did get on the bike downstairs the day before, today I got in 3 miles, pace was a bit slow and I felt stiff, probably from not walking much yesterday.

Dave - hope things are going better for you today! pixiedust:

Good morning team.

Mike thank you for what you said. Yes the past does try to control us and it will if we let it. An exercise I do is to close my eyes and mentally see myself drawing a sword and moving forward to battle each demon as it arises. Whether it's not giving in to temptation or facing a life issue, you have to meet those demons head on.

I'm going to try to do a training walk again tomorrow and if all goes well go back to walk training every other day. The PF acting up was a result of trying to walk train hard 5 days a week. My body can't handle that yet.

Scott and Lynn, I'm using a drink called Elation every morning to take my vitamin with. It's for knee and joint health. I haven't had knee issues but since joint cartilage and tendon cartilage are similar I thought it couldn't hurt. I'll let you know.

Everyone, thank you for being here.

Thanks to everyone for the great support! :grouphug: I'm feeling the love!

I ran four more today, but struggled a little again, it's astounding how much fitness I can lose in a short few weeks. Although, all the food and drinks on our WDW vacation didn't help. I'm still four pounds up over when we left.

I orders some shirts, thanks for the help!

There was a bouceback deal when we went to WDW for the Everest race and we are going back on Oct 11th with our little guy. He wants to leave today! So, I will be there Oct 1st through the 4th solo, for the Wine and Dine, and again Oct 11th through the 17th with the family. Life is good in that respect and I'm getting some mileage out of my annual pass! I will be at the All Star Music and then at the Fort Wilderness Cabins with the family! I have always wanted to stay at the Cabins!

Dave ~ Thanks again for your upbeat encouragement! I had a inflamed nerve in my right foot a number of years ago and had cortisone shots that really helped. Will this work for PF? The shots really hurt, but they did the trick for me.

Connie, Margie, Lynn, Vicky, Regina, You really are awesome teammates!

Wow, what quietness I hear tonight!

Vickie - How did the interview go??

Mike - Now you know, when you are on the other end, how great it is to have teammates! Thanks for coming back to us! I am sure that you will find that the rest did a great deal more good than any harm!

Dave - Good luck on that walk.

Lynn - That darn knee! I will keep the PD flying your way! :wizard:

Scott - Lots of PD flying your way too!

Regina - The new workout? :lmao: This winter, I guess!!! I have just been spending time getting squash ready to make relish! Not enough time and not enough me, some days!

Margie - How were the sprinklers? :)

AFM - We got rid of Sam this morning. In spite of the fact that the darn mule threw Jon and me (me not so bad), I was sorry to see him go. He was very sweet on the ground! Picked MORE squash today! Sure wish the tomatoes and okra and beans and other stuff was doing 1/2 as well as the squash! We have been having fresh squash at breakfast and supper. Last night I made a squasharoni and cheese!

See ya - Connie

Lynn- Glad you got your 3 miles in today!

Dave- Good luck on your training walk tomorrow.

Connie- I must be on your time or something because the last 2 times I’ve gone to post I’ve almost missed yours (from posting at the same time). :rotfl:, well it’s good you at least have a plan to try a new workout sometime….
Squasharoni and cheese huh? Sounds interesting! Do you do fried squash? What kind of squash do you grow?

Hi team! Another scorcher of a day here! I wore my dressy DC flip flops to work. When I was in DC last month, I found out that everyone there wears flip flops because they do a lot of walking. It's kind of funny to see guys in suits but then you look down and see flip flops  Anyway, I bought a slightly dressier pair when I was there I stuffed a pair of heels into my purse for the interview.

The interview went pretty well. The branch is on the smaller side but most of the people there seem to be on the younger side (45 and under). It was a series of three people who interviewed me separately. It was definitely interesting to see how investment advisors work. I'll say I didn't hate it but I didn't love it 100% either. The personalities were a little bit strange - one person interviewed me by asking questions like "What are some of Vicky's out interests and hobbies?" or "What are Vicky's current responsibilities?" It made me feel a little bit like I was four-years-old.:laughing: The other person didn't really ask me any questions and mostly talked about themselves. But then again, they're not in the head office environment so maybe they're less uptight about things. Anyway, I will probably find out in a couple of weeks. Thanks for all the good thoughts everybody! I will keep you posted!

Regina - Have a great workout!

Connie - What is squasharoni? It sounds fun :) Sounds like your garden is coming along quite nicely! Sorry to hear about Sam :(

Mike - Keep up with the running the 4 lbs will be gone in no time at all. Anyway, I don't think it would have been as good a vacation if you didn't indulge a little bit :cutie: I'm jealous that you're going to be at WDW for practically all of October! Are you going to be doing MNSSHP?

Sue - The humidity is definitely making everything harder. I was really relieved to ditch the work clothes after I got home tonight. I don't know how guys can wear suits when its this hot out. Glad to hear that you got in your run regardless!

Lynn - WTG on the 3 miler!

Scott - Yup, I wondered why the dog wasn't on a leash. pixiedust: for your knee! I hope it's feeling better today.

Margie - Did Hagen have fun in the sprinklers? I use love running through the sprinklers when I was a kid!! Sounds like you're getting the same kind of weather we are!

Dave - :grouphug: Safe travels!

Hey team,

Did my workout. Feeling kinda blah about working out today but I made it through! I think possibly it's because I didn't sleep well last night. I made my first ever ADR last night. (Although I love Disney I'm still a newbie to the planning and learning all the tips and tricks). I'm excited! My legs are exhausted now. I've also been working on planks. Those are hard to do I have found.

Vicky- Sounds like an interesting interview. So if they offer you the job are you interested in accepting even though you weren't 100% into it? Will it be a good opportunity for you? Good luck! Keep us posted!

Good Morning Team!

It is cool and cloudy here today, so I decided to delay my walk until after breakfast. I prefer to walk after eating something and having some coffee, but in summer it will be too hot for the dogs if I wait. Today the high is only supposed to be 61 degrees, so I should be OK. Have 6 miles planned for today, then I will go down to Ft. Collins with Scott for his Orthopod appt.

Vicki - glad to hear that the interview went well.

Connie - sorry that Sam had to go, the garden sounds great!

Mike - cortisone shots are given for PF, sometimes they work and sometimes they don't. (Didn't work on mine). Keep up the good work!!!

Dave - good luck with the walk. How are the pool workouts going?

Regina - if you can do planks, you are a better woman than I am! I think my record is about 30 seconds, or maybe less.

Hello! I requested to join a WISH team and was directed over here.

My name is Emily. I've been running for about a year. My first race was the 2009 DL 5k and I've done another 5k and a 10k since then. My DH and I are training for our first half marathon, the 2010 DL Half.

I'm looking forward to getting know everyone!

Hey everyone!

Just a quick fly by for me tonight! Took the day off from training for a rest day. My knees are feeling a little tender and I don’t want to overdo it. My calves are also sore from weights yesterday. Tomorrow will be a 5 mile run after a 10 hour work day…wish me luck!

Emily- :welcome: DH and I are training for our first half as well- the Wine and Dine Half. Are you two planning to run your first half together or separately? How is your training coming along? We are glad to have you join us. :cheer2:

Lynn- I actually like cool and cloudy weather…especially to be out running in. How’d your 6 miler go? :lmao: I’m still in training for the planks….I can do 1 min on front and 45 sec on the side planks. I’m only doing 1 on each area each time I go and will continue building up from there. Frankly, I’m pleased I can even do that at this point! :woohoo:

Scott- How was the appt?

Margie- I’m doing the front planks and the side planks. The side ones are much harder for me to do. Sometimes I can see and feel my arm shaking trying to keep my form. Good thing I have DH there to monitor and let me know when I’m slipping!

That's it for me. Half way through the week! Yippee!

:welcome: Emily - don't believe everything Dave says!

Dave - you should not try to fool people that way:lmao:

Regina - I do like the cooler weather, I really like to eat breakfast before walking - one more day to do that, I am afraid we will be back to our 80-90 degree weather by the weekend.

Today I have 3 miles scheduled, which I will be heading out on shortly. Yesterday after my 6 miles, I jumped on the bike for 15 min. It only made it to 54 degrees yesterday - a record breaking low-high! Today it is supposed to get to 60. The good news is that this weather is headed eastward, for all you on the east coast, you should be feeling cooler temps shortly! Sun is out, I better get out for my walk!

Good morning everyone! Another hot and sticky day here *phew* I was out at 7AM this morning for my run and the humidity was incredible. Kuddos to everyone who's been out running in the weather! I'm kind of glad that my pulled back muscle kept me out of my running shoes this week. I did a 2 miler last night and then another 2 miler this weekend. I'm just trying to keep my legs fresh for 10 miler on Sunday and hopefully the heat and humidity will have broken by then.

Emily - Welcome! I saw the DL half medal and it looks awesome! How's your training going so far? What kind of a training plan are you following?

Regina - If you ever want a challenge, try doing dynamic planks :) I use to find that running the day after lifting was really challenging but keep up with it and your body will get use to the routine and you won't be as sore the next day.

Margie - No flip flops aren't really my choice for a walking shoe. But it's so hot and my feet need some air :) So it was a choice between the flip flops or sandals with heels for walking. The Garmin band was pretty nice - the velcro is pretty solid and has a more snug fit around my wrist. I only took it on a short run so I'm not sure if there's any rubbing that I'll experience. I hope not. It feels a little like the Road ID fabric bracelets.

Dave - But really, what is "normal" :) Glad to hear that you were able to do a 6.5 miler! pixiedust: for your PF! Hope you get better soon! Any news from your lawyer?

Lynn - I'm definitely looking forward to the cooler weather! I like a day or two of the really hot weather but after that it makes running really difficult.

Scott - Take things slowly! pixiedust: for your knee!!

Kim/Connie - How are the PX90 workouts going? You gals must be super buff by now!

As Margie (funwalker) mentioned, I am technically captain, although; I believe that Margie and Dave (aka, Panda, Windwalker, et al.) are really the captains, they just let me hold the title! :woohoo::sail: -- I love the half marathon. It's just the right distance, for me.

Lynn and Scott- What great temps! Ours aren't that cool, but we are staying in the 70's, but we have lots and lots of rain. I am beginning to wonder when I moved to the tropics?? Lynn, you are really getting the miles in! I am impressed with your progress given your problems! Scott - PD for the MRI.

Margie - I hope you find a cool place soon!

Dave - It is perfectly normal to think of yourself as a panda if you are Dave!!! :lmao: So, seems like it works! Feeling better?

Regina - Planks still scare me. Although, I am moving into my 2nd anniversary of rotator cuff surgery, I still get spooked when my shoulders hurt! Sounds like you are doing great!

Vickie - Little bunnster! How are you doing? I worry about you. But I am glad you like your new wristband...so far!

Mike - How are things working out? Still sending PD!

Where is everybody else???????????? :confused3 :grouphug:

AFM - Well....first squasharoni and cheese was pretty good. I put cut up squash, bell pepper and cooked macaroni in a baking dish and covered it with a cheese sauce that had sauteed onions and celery and popped it in the oven until warmed through. Pretty good!

Today was a day. Not bad enough to be bad, but not good enough to be anything but bad!! We got the new mule, I am quite dissappointed thus far! I hope things work out better than they appear to be, right now. The mules got out of their pasture and they had to be caught. DH managed to round them up on the ATV while I blocked the only escape in the bigger 200 acres they were loose in. I think I walked on most of the inches of that 200 acres. I was wearing Cowgirl clothes, and tromping through the hills and the dales and the gullies through briers, the brambles, the cactus, the yucca, the bo d'arc forests, plum thickets, and I didn't have any water! Thank goodness it was 70 and not 100 degrees! I am beginning to hate livestock! Anyway, veggies?? I got fresh veggies! I gave a way a sack of squash and still had a sack left even after I made squash relish and squash pickles and squash bread! :scared1:

See ya - Connie

Raining today. We were suppose to get cooler temps. with the rain. I think the weatherman lied. It seems even more humid.

Regina, We do get a lot of humidity in Southern Ontario. We didn't have very good weather last summer (cool temps with rain) so this year seems extra hot & humid. It just zaps all the energy out of you.
How are the knees feeling?

Hi everyone! Happy Friday! Just doing a quick fly-by today so that I can get all my work done today.

Margie - I'm racing this weekend! It's the Acura 10 Miler :) on Sunday. I'm not sure how I'll do but I'm hoping for cooler weather and no back pain. I think the new band is an improvement. The velcro is easier to adjust than the old band.

Sue - Shouldn't this rain cool things down? I went out this morning and it was still humid (and hot). Have fun at your cottage this weekend!

Connie - That sounds like quite the adventure! Do you have any dogs to help with the roundup? Would dogs be helpful - I'm a city girl so I know nothing about farm life. Except for what I saw in Babe  Do you think the mules will eventually calm down. Holy squash lady! I'd take a bag off your hands if I lived any closer :)

AFM - Not much news to report on my end. My PT told me that I can't deadlift until I resolve the back issues so we did a lighter workout and used medicine balls and some really light weights for squats and lunges. I did end up hitting myself with the medicine balls a couple of times but they were light weight ones so they didn't hurt.

Have a great weekend everyone! :wave2:

Today started at 4:30 with a trip to the health club for pool workout, then nap and finally composing a letter for the lawyer. Letter on the way, War Panda is in Grrrrrrrrr mode. I have a race tomorrow but it might be just an accompany Sally instead of competition depending on how my PF is behaving. Either way Panda is proactive, life won't give unless you reach out and take the opportunities that come your way.

Vicky, be careful with your back and do what your PT recommends. Backs are very unforgiving. I can fight my PF and tendinitis but a back injury just has to rest and heal.

Connie, of course you are the team leader. Margie and I are just your faithful assistants.

Scott hoping for good news on the knee issues.

Good Morning Team!

I am just back from my long walk of the week - 8.75 miles today, but pace was not very good - 17.28 - I have just finished breakfast, as my recovery meal - I had a breakfast bar before I walked, and had some Clif shot blocks to keep me going. It was 49 degrees when I started and 71 degrees when I finished - I think the heat is back. Hope some of our previously cooler temps have made it out to the east coast!

Dave - you sure started early today, I thought I was doing good getting up at 5:30 and getting out of the house by 6am!

Sue - have fun at the cabin this weekend.

Hi Team! Happy Friday!

Vicky- Good luck in your 10 miler on Sunday! What are dynamic planks? I’m not sure I’m familiar with those? I think I was also more sore that day because DH raised the weights on my calve raises. I’ll keep at it and hopefully eventually it will get easier. Are you any closer to resolving your back issues? I’m glad the medicine balls didn’t hurt when you hit yourself.

Scott- How’d the MRI go?

Lynn- Glad you made it through your 8.75 miles today.

Connie- I can definitely see how you would get spooked when your shoulders hurt after having rotator cuff surgery! Thanks for the encouragement! Forgive me if I should know the answer to this, but why do you have to change the mules and what are the mules for? (I did not grow up around a farm or anything like that even though I’m surrounded by it in the area.) :lmao:, it sounds like they’re keeping you on your toes though!

Sue- I lived in Florida briefly so I know how much the humidity can zap you. The knees are ok….they don’t really bother me when I’m running at all, but it seems like occasionally when I’m wandering around about my day they can be a little tender when I am working. I’m trying to keep an eye on them because I am definitely way too young to have "bad knees"!!...so I’m wondering if it’s too much too fast, or if it’s the shoes I’m wearing? Have a great weekend at the cottage!

Margie- Good luck with your planks!! Yuck, a summer cold with heat and humidity…not a good combo! :wizard: for your cold. That’s great Hagen is able to eat nuggets, fries, and hamburgers without any problems!

AFM, work was so exhausting yesterday that I was literally having a hard time keeping my eyes open when I returned home. Thus, I did not make it out for my 5 mile run last night. :sad2: However, I did make it to the gym this morning to run 5 miles before I go to work. It was a rough run and I just was not feeling it today....but I made it through so that's the important thing. DH and I will go to the gym this evening again to lift weights (we go together but do completely different workouts) so I can get back on track with what I'm supposed to be doing.

Have a great day everyone!!

Hi Team! :wave2:

Connie-glad all is well and the mules are now under control!
Is it too much to hope that you are taking it easy today and
drinking lots and lots of water.

Dave- hope the letter takes care of the problem! :goodvibes

Lynn-:thanks:
WTG that is an awesome walk!
I never am concerned about pace on longer walks...
Save that for shorter speed workouts and races!

Regina- this weather zaps energy and you
might be coming down with something yourself.
Listen to your body.
Hagen is better, but not well.
He still is on medication, but they have worked
him back up to a normal diet.
He is a very healthy selective eater.
He rarely eats any meat, french fries, or potatoes.
But he does love Chocolate as long as his hands do not get messy!

Scott- Thanks for the update and it is
Great that the doctor is not messin around!

Vicky- just enjoy the race!

Hi Team,

Dave and Sally- :cheer2: Good luck on your race this weekend (whatever you end up doing!)!! :cheer2:

Vicky- :cheer2: Good luck again in your 10 miler on Sunday!:cheer2:

Scott- That is a pretty quick follow up. Definitely nice to see there’s a Dr. out there who doesn’t delay.

Margie- Yes the thought crossed my mind I could be coming down with something myself…I hope that’s not the case. I’m glad Hagen is better at least. Has he been diagnosed with something that is causing all these digestive problems, or do they not know what is causing it? Who doesn’t love chocolate? Did you finish the window treatment and closet area of the guest room for Hagen?

Mike- How's your training going? Keep us posted!

AFM, I made it to the gym for some weight training with DH. He timed my planks for me and watched my form on the leg press. Then we took Sydney (dog) to the local high school and ran her up and down the football field until she was plum tuckered out and plopped down on the grass. :woohoo: I haven't taken her running with me lately because I've been running on the TM because it's soo hot outside until like 10pm at night (which is too late for me to run and function the next day :confused3). I think she enjoys herself though and I do like to watch her run (she's such a pretty girl :cutie:...):rotfl: no bias there though :rolleyes1

BTW- For those of you going to Wine and Dine, did you know Mrs. D is organizing a meet the night before at Boma? I think it's 10/1 at 5pm and the link to the thread is on her signature if anyone is interested....

Hi Team!

This week totaled 19 miles for me. I hope to get a long run in tomorrow. I got schelduled to work tonight after just working 11 nights in a row and having one off. No rest for the weary! I'm really glad to be one of the employed though!

Vicky~ Yes, we will be attending the MNSSHP on October 14th, we love the atmosphere and the fireworks show! Good luck in your race tomorrow, I'll be thinking about you!

Scott~ Good luck with the knee!

Emily~ WELCOME! We have a fun team! I'll be doing my first Half at the WDW Wine and Dine in October.

AFM~ It's been hot here! I try to run in the mornings after work. I will be booking our ADR's for our October trips tomorrow. Then I have to work on January's for the marathon week. Liz is training hard for her first triathalon at the end of August. She's doing more miles than I am! I'm proud and a little humbled by her. But she's looking good....pirate:

Good Morning, Team! :wave2:

Partly cloudy – Raining – Humid

Dave & Sally- hope you had a great race this morning!

Regina-Hagen is on prescription laxative twice a day-
Still he does not have a BM daily.
Today they have to go back on a restrictive diet as he has
not had a BM for a couple of days. I do not know if it goes
back to him being a preemie or not. His stomach was not fully
developed when he was born. He is very sensitive.

My little Hagen’s room is still a work in progress…
Even though he said, It’s Just Perfect!
Then there is all the cleaning, packing, and storing
all the items that were in the room.
Jeez…it takes a lot of time. (Maybe it’s just because I am o-l-d & s-l-o-w!)
Nothing seemed to fit right-several returns
Went to several store (including JC Penney’s Home Store) searching for
A 1-inch diameter white decorative rod for the navy/ white stripe valance.
Need to fill holes in wood from the previous window treatment
and in the walls, as the pictures will not be in the same place.

Wall decals are up, lg picture, 2 smaller coordinating pictures,
need navy blue shelf, clock, cubby storage for his shoes and prized possessions, etc to complete the finishing touches.
Now looking for red & yellow hangers (have the blue & lime green)
Yes, I like things to coordinated.

Vicky-my thoughts are with you and know I will be :cheer2: for you tomorrow!

Hi everyone,

Slowly catching back up

PeachTree is an Awesome experience. Highly reccomend it. Wasn't my best time but I had soooooo much fun. Hopefully I can get in again next year.

I've spent the last 10 days alternating 4 mile and 6 mile runs. Plan on getting back to schedule tomorrow.

I'm serving on the curriculum committee for the school board next year so I have meetings the last week in July and then school starts the first week in August.

Good Morning Team!

We have been busy watching the tour - not doing much because of Scotts knee. I will probably do a short walk with dogs after the tour today if it is not too hot.

Regina - where in Idaho do you live? We used to live in Jackson, so are fairly familiar with the eastern side of the state.

Back to the tour - have a great day all!

Good Sunday morning y'all.

I've been in Nashville for the last couple of days so haven't been able to post. I took Sally to a race, an evening 2 miler and walked it with her instead of pressing my poor PF aflicted foot. We did a 15 mpm pace that would have been a good WDW pace anyway.

It was weird not being in the mix of trying to win but a good time anyway. She got to meet a bunch of my nutty race buddies.

Have a magical weekend guys.

Good afternoon, team. Thanks for the nice welcome!

Margie - My birthday is Dec 20th. The DL Half is the only race I have planned right now. I used to live in Michigan, too.

My DH and I will be running the half together. We're following the MfM half marathon walk/ run plan. I think our training is going ok so far. Although, I've not been keeping up on my cross training like I should. I'm not sure my work softball games count:confused3 I'm definitely initmidated by the race length, my goal is to just finish and I hope I can do it!

We did 7 miles today, our longest run yet. The weather was nice, the sun didn't come out until we had finished. The weather has been unseasonably cool for the past few weeks which is good for running.

Have a good day!

Hey Team!

Mike- Way to go on the 19 miles last week! Where are you guys planning to eat for your October trip? Tell Liz to keep up the awesome training and way to go!:cheer2:

Margie- I’m sorry to hear Hagen’s having trouble having a BM. That’s definitely not good.:sad2: Poor little guy…I’m sure it’s discouraging that he keeps having these problems. Has he always had stomach/digestive problems?, no fixing up a room is ALWAYS a chore and time consuming! It sounds like you’ve made a lot of progress though and are working on more of the intimate details now though. I hope you feel better soon!

Jennifer- Glad you had a great experience at Peach Tree. School starts really early over there. Does school get out in early May then?

Lynn- I live in the Boise area. It’s been hot over here the last few days so I’ve been doing all my running on the TM. I know I should be out in the weather practicing for humid Florida, but I just can’t bring myself to do it yet…:confused3

Dave- Glad you had a good race! I hope Sally enjoyed herself too!

Emily- I’m glad your training is going ok so far. My goal for my first half is just to finish as well. I’m sure you can do it. Afterall, you’re over half way there! :thumbsup2 I wish we had cool weather over here!

AFM, DH and I went to the gym and ran on TM today. I ran 6 miles and he ran somewhere up around 7. I think my running shoes aren’t fitting right…my arches and heel have been hurting a little while running and after running:confused3…which frustrates me because I went to a running store and had them fitted. Sooo, my next plan of action is to go to a different running store and get re-fitted and have them do their gait analysis this time (which wasn’t done the first time). I’m keeping my fingers crossed. I’m kind of dreading tomorrow and Tuesday- they’re really long days and my schedule is booked both days with appointments.:scared1: I guess on the positive side, days that are booked that full usually go pretty fast...I sure hope they go by fast! Thank goodness tomorrow’s a rest day!

Have a great day tomorrow everyone!

Vicky, How was yesterday's race? How's the back/ ankle?

Regina, Do you have the same foot issues with your shoes when running on the road? It might be the TM causing the problems. What about a different sock?

Thanks Margie!

Good Morning Team!

I survived my 10K walk this morning – I had done nothing over the weekend, except go thru 8000+ pictures we took on our trip – I weeded them down to 7000+. We are celebrating our anniversary by going to Scott’s Orthopod appt. in Loveland, CO, then maybe do some shopping and have some dinner. We celebrated the anniversary on our cruise.

Margie – at least we do not have the humidity here – it can be in the 90’s, but the humidity will usually be under 50 percent, sometimes WAY under 50 percent. pixiedust:for your cold!

Regina – Boise is a nice area also, we really liked the bike path by the river.

Dave – sounds like you had a fun weekend!

Hi to everyone else!

Happy Monday everyone! Hope everyone had a great weekend! I did my 10 miler race yesterday. Even though I've done bigger races before, it was my first time running that distance as a race.

So I woke up shortly after 6AM so I could get in a quick breakfast of an oatmeal bowl and an apple before leaving. I had put everything out the night before so I was ready. By 7:10AM, I was ready and out the door! The streets were empty and it took me less than 15 minutes to get downtown - instead of the usual 30+ mins during the weekday rush. We got free parking on a nearby streets but the paid parking lots that were close by had lots of room. I sat in the car for a few minutes to finish off my coffee and then walked over to the race site. There was still plenty time as it was 7:30 and the race didn't start for another hour.

I lined up for the porta-potties and then started stretching and worked on finishing my water bottle. We were lucky as there was a break in the humidity but it was still sunny out and the forecast was calling for hot weather. I figured the racers would be okay because it was still an early start. I was about to head over to the corrals at about 8:20 but then realized I had a little too much water. I had to get in a really long line for the porta-potties again. I chatted with a older gentleman while in line and talked about the course and some upcoming races. I did manage to make it out on time but it was really close - Just as I got settled into my corral, the race started.

The race course starts in a part of downtown Toronto called the Distillary District and then goes south out to a park that goes out into the harbour a little and then turns around back to the start. I think there were close to 1,500 runners so the course was a little crowded at first. It thinned out after half a mile or so. The temperature at this point wasn't too bad - it was sunny out but the sun hadn't come out all the way.

At about the 1.5 mile mark, I ran over a pothole and had my left leg bend at an awkward angle. I dropped a huge F bomb (sorry to anyone who had to hear that) :headache:. I had my ankle tape up so I think it stayed straight *phew* but the knee hurt a lot. I slowed down my pace a little and I think it was okay. Just not a very pleasant experience. By the time we approached the entrance to the park, the sun was out completely and it was hot. There was a misting tent at the entrance which I ran through. It felt good but it went by too quickly. Considering it was a park, there was little to no shade at all. The runners were all out in the sun and it made it difficult to keep going at a fast pace. I stopped and drank water + Gatorade at all the stops but still felt really hot.

I caught up with the older gentleman that I had been chatting with at the half way mark. I ran with him for a bit as he was going at about a 9:15-9:30 m/m pace. I lost him after I stopped coming out of the park to go through the misting tent again and to grab more water.

I had wanted to run the last half of the race without stopping but I quite a few people being treated by medics on the side of the road so it spooked me out a little bit. I've never experienced dehydration or heat stroke so I wasn't sure what signs to look for in case I got in trouble. I figured, I'd lose a few minutes by sticking with the run/walk intervals but better than collapsing by the side of the road. I noticed on the turnaround back to the finish, most of the runners were trying to grab some shade that the highway overpass was creating. The space of the shade was only about 1 person wide so everyone was running in single file :)

Made it to the finish in 1:38:47, just a few minutes longer than I would have liked but all things considered - temperature, my pulled back muscle, ankle and recent stress level, I'm pretty happy with the results. After the finish, I stood in the misting tent for a long time - it felt really good! Someone later told me that the temperature that morning was 33C (91.4F) with the humidity! Crazy!

I posted some of the pics on my FB so I'll get the link at home later tonight and see if they work here.

Have a great day everyone!

Today, Nick and I spent some time at the beach with the princess and Miranda. Had a blast and actually managed to almost avoid getting sunburned. Quite impressive for me, who usually walks outside in June through August and bursts into flames. But poor Nick (who wasn't constantly bathing in sunscreen) is toast. Margie, Physically yes. Mentally, I'm still getting over it.

I'm helping coach/run the coach to 5k program at my gym. Tonight was the first night. So 2 miles with the group I'm training (run/walk training to full run) and then 5 miles on my own (9 minute pace [it's coming back slowly but surely]).

Dave - I've been doing the back stretches and taking it easy :) Sometimes it's hard to hold yourself back when you feel like there's so much you want to do but you're right about back injuries taking time to heal. How's your heel doing?

Margie - for you and Hagen! I keep thinking about him and how hard this must be. Do you have pics of his newly designed
room?

Scott/Lynn - Congrats on your anniversary! pixiedust: for Scott's knee!

Hope - The little one is getting big now! How old is she? I can never go out in the sun without a hat otherwise my scalp burns and the peeling makes my hair look yucky.

Mike - You're really putting in the hours at work. No wondering you haven't had the time to run. Good job on the 4! Which restaurants are you looking to book?

Jennifer - The new coaching job sounds fun! Are you working with experienced runners or beginners?

Regina - Sorry to hear about the shoes. You'll get different opinions depending who you talk to. When I was first fitted for shoes, the first running store I went to said that I needed stability shoes while the second store said I needed motion control shoes. I've asked both my chiro and PT about it and they don't believe that runners need corrective shoes but they're not runners. So it seems like whatever you're most comfortable in. Sorry, that's probably not much help.

Emily WTG on the 7 miler! Send some of that cool weather up for us :)

Sue - Back and ankle are doing okay! I was very glad the humidity broke yesterday but man was it ever hot out on that course. There's no shade along Lakeshore Road or in Tommy Thompson Park. My calves are really sore today - did a little bit of the foam roller but it hurt.

Have a great night everyone! :wave2:

Hope everyone is doing great, I have been keeping up my P90X workouts to be honest, no movement on the scale or many inches for that matter but I notice I am alot stronger and can actually do "guy" push ups..about 6 - 8 depending on the day so it is helping. I know why the scale isn't moving it is because of my diet which I have been working hard at this week so hope to start seeing some downward momentum :)

Hi team! I've got a PT appointment tonight. It was suppose to be for training but it might end up being an ART session for my calves. I hope not because I've been missing running because of my back for the past two weeks and my workouts have been lighter as well because of that. Margie, I think you're going to have to put in every body part down for me soon including broken spirit. Too much stress :(

Lynn - WTG on the 3 miler! I hope it doesn't get too warm where you are. I can only imagine how hot our mornings will be if that's the case.

Scott - Sorry to hear about the upcoming knee surgery. I do like your attitude though and how you're looking toward other activities like walking and cycling. :thumbsup2

Hi y'all.

I have been good since walking the race saturday, not race walking just walking. I've been good and done all the stuff I need to do to help my PF heal. I've been wearing my flip flops around the house instead of being bare foot as Margie instructed.

I went to the pool and worked out in the water then stretched really good in the hot whirlpool. Right now my foot is not hurting when I walk around slow, good sign.

Scott take care of that knee and it would be an honor to walk a marathon with you brother.

Lynn keep that wild man from doing anything dumb with that knee issue.

Vicky, you rock girl!!

Mike I saw where they are having one of those adventure races you talked about in Austin Tx. I wish I was well I might consider if some issues come together.

Margie, you just won't let me pout about my sore feet will you.:thumbsup2

Everyone have a great evening.

Hi everyone!!!!!!

Sue: No I didn't do Buffalo, we just got back from a Alaskan cruise the week before and wasn't really up to the travel again. Mike and I decided on the full. I really want another goofy medal but the cost is just crazy.

Margie: Sorry you aren't feeling well, summer colds I think are worse then winter ones.

Off to dinner, be back

The princess is now nine months. Loves to crush things with Nick. He kept building her little sand castles and she'd crush them. Hours of fun with Uncle Nick. :goodvibes That hat didn't last very long, but we had a little umbrella hut thing where she and Mir hid under there.

Hey everyone,

Scott & Lynn- Happy belated anniversary!!!

Scott- Sorry to hear you have to have surgery on your knee? How soon will that take place?

Sue- You know it never even occurred to me my issue could be the running on the TM…and now it’s been so long since I’ve only been running on the TM that I can’t remember if I had issues on the ground as well? I’ll have to make it a point to run on the ground this week and see how it feels. Thanks for the good thinking/question! :thumbsup2 Which are you leaning toward more, goofy or full? What are the positives to both and what puts you on the fence about deciding which one?

Lynn- Are you going to post your pictures at some point? Yes, the greenbelt is a very nice walking/running/biking path. Good luck getting up earlier! Let me know how it goes!

Vicky- Great race report! I enjoyed reading it! How are your calves feeling? And your ankle? :rotfl:, I loved that people were running single file just to stay in the shade. Great job on your race!!! Nice pics! Thanks for the feedback on the shoes. I’m curious to see what shoes the other running store will put me in. I just want shoes that feel comfortable on my feet. Of course, I never considered it could be the TM (as Sue pointed it out it could be) so I guess I’ll just have to continue on and use process of elimination? How’d your PT appt go?

Jennifer- Glad it’s coming back to you!

Hope- Glad you’re still around! Great job staying on top of the sunscreen! How’s Nick fairing with his sunburn?

Kim- Welcome back! Good luck with your dieting/losing weight! Glad P90X is going well.

Margie- Cars and trucks sounds like a great theme! Yes, I think technically I’m on track for my training. My legs are soooo sore though from weightlifting…I lifted weights on Friday night and it still hurts to walk on Tuesday!! But, I can do 1 plank for 1 minute each on both sides and front and am going to continue building up from there…and I’m going to continue pushing forward on the weights and hope eventually the soreness goes away. As for the running, I’m keeping an eye on the knees. The running itself is going ok though I think. I'm right where I was when I hurt my foot/ankle so I'm a little nervous to make it through the next 2 weeks....

Dave- Glad you’re doing well since the race last weekend.

AFM- I was supposed to do a 4 mile run today but knew I would be too exhausted after not getting off work until 8pm, so I switched my weights to today and will run the 4 miles tomorrow. My legs are pretty sore still so I tried not to go overboard. I did some calf raises and lunges, some bicep curls and some core. Not too much, but hopefully enough to help a little.:confused3I also spent a lot of time stretching my legs. DH goes back to night shift for 2 months tomorrow, which of course I think is so lame! :sad2:

Does anyone have any suggestions for improving muscle soreness besides taking an ice bath? I just can't bring myself to try an ice bath...if I iced just the sore parts would that help? Or what about like a bengay/tiger balm thing?

Also, has anyone ever done the Princess half or considered it? Just curious...

Have a great day tomorrow everyone!

Hi Everyone!

I ran eight miles yesterday after working nine hours stocking like a man possesed. Pretty sore while working last night.
I also bought a Toshiba laptop which will be delivered tomorrow. We have never owned a laptop before and our current computer is from 2001, so I'm curious to see how many cool things it can do! Also, tomorrow we will be buying a bicycle for Robert so he can ride to the gym with Liz.

Margie~ I wished you a Happy Birthday on FB but not here yet, so HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!:woohoo::woohoo: Hope that you feel better soon! Are you kidding~ Lightning McQueen makes Robert's bedroom! (Mickey too!) Even a map of the Magic Kingdom. I want it to be my room!:goodvibes

Dave~ glad your PF is improving!

Regina~ I'm trying to talk Liz into doing the Princess next year. I guess I'll have to wear pink if we go!

Scott~ I'm sure surgery will go well! Hang in there!

Jennifer~ The crash memories will fade with time, believe me, unfortunately I know first hand. If you make it to the Miss USA pagent, can I brag that I know you?

Hi team!

Mike - WTG on the 8 miles! I hope have lots of fun with your new laptop! They're awesome! The battery on mine died recently so I can only keep it plugged into the wall. I'm thinking about getting a Macbook but might get once of those mini PCs in the meantime. I love being portable!

Scott - Safe travels today! Your knee surgery is next week! I'm thinking good thoughts for you and hoping that everything works out for the best! pixiedust:

Margie - Happy birthday!! My PT just had me do a few stretches and exercises. He thinks because the muscle tightness didn't show up until later Monday, I might not have been hydrating properly Sunday evening and Monday morning. He says I might have lost a lot of electrolytes from sweating during the run. But he says my back and overall form are looking better so he's going to talk to my chiro and if gives us the okay then we can go back to lifting on Thursday. So I think you can take off the cold and ankle for now :) And hopefully the back by the end of the week.

Regina - I never did very well on the TM so I only use it when I really have to. As for muscle soreness, if it's from weights -- they will lessen over time as your body adapts to the exercises. When I first started deadlifting, I had trouble running faster than 12 m/m the day after. Now I don't find I'm nearly as sore but it did take a while. I've heard that epsom salt baths are really good but haven't tried them myself.

Dave - Sounds like a fun date! Have fun with Sally and tell her we say hi! Hang in there with the PF! Rest is the best thing when you're injured even though it's one of the hardest things to do.

AFM - I just found out that there are a couple of running groups at work that go out during lunch and after work. After work is a bit tricky because I go to the gym or train and lunch because there are no showers -- sort of. I've heard there are showers in the building but they're by the bike lockers so I'll have to see what they're like.

Have a great day everyone! :wave2:

Scott, I was just reading Ray Sharps training log. He is a 51 year old world class race walker and he did a nice warm up 5K in 23 min. That just amazes me, but it shows that if you work at it you can walk faster than most can run. My best 5K walking has been just under 32 min.

When you are all healed and ready to train again I'll be glad to help you learn fast walking. Then we can meet for some events, I have a group that I've trained and we do halfs around the neighboring states.

Margie you are a jewel in so many ways. Why couldn't you live closer so I could get regular Margie hugs.

Vicky, that's good that there are running groups, once in a while it might be fun to join them at a race if training with them is not convenient. Sally and I are going to try to make a trip to Canada next year and see you and Kimmer. I want to throw my old wedding ring into the falls.

Mike you are doing great. Heck if I heal properly I may even have to option to do a run ever now and then, although I perfer the race walking now.

I saw in Margie's injury list that a lot of us are laid up with ouchies and need to heal up. The heat doesn't help either. So everyone feel better.

Hope I'm so excited for you.:cloud9:

Good Morning Team!

OK, the computer erased my first post, so I guess I have to try again, and remember what I wrote! (Someday I will learn to write this in word first then copy it to the post.)

Vicky – you asked how hot it was here, well, it is usually about 50 degrees when I start my morning walks just after sunrise, and it is about 60 to 70 degrees when I am finished. It warms up quickly after sunrise. The high will generally be somewhere between the mid 80’s to the mid 90’s. The good thing is that we do not have high humidity. Today I was lucky that there were some clouds and the sun did not come out until I was done – it was 80 degrees by 9am today.

Dave – are you taking any anti-inflammatory drug? (Aspirin or Ibuprofen) When I was dealing with PF, I always wore a support shoe with my inserts in them, (and I still do). My physical therapist blamed my PF on a summer of wearing crocs and sandals. I also found the night splint that keeps your foot at a 90 degree angle with you leg very helpful.

Regina – try “the stick” (you can google it), it is a massage tool that you use on yourself. I have seen them at runningwearhouse.com and at most of the race expo’s (where they will give you a demo massage with it). I also like a cool pool swim after a race, or if there is no pool available, a cool (rather than iced) soak in a tub.

Today we (the dogs and I) did a 6 mile walk. I am finding that when I concentrate on my walking form, I can keep up a sub 17 m/m pace, but when my mind wanders, my pace increases to over 18 m/m. Today, my best pace was the last mile when I average a 16:30 m/m, but my overall average was 17:30 – so I still need a lot of work in the speed category.

Pixie dust to all who are in need!

Have a great day all!

Dave - I've thought about doing the same thing too  You should sell it and use it for a Disney trip or something fun with Sally :) Can't wait to see you both! Are you going to do a race while you're both here?

Regina - I also forgot to add that with an ice bath. Start with lukewarm water and get in, have a towel or shirt wrapped around you and then start adding the ice slowly. It won't feel as bad that way.

Hey Team!

Dave- How was Twilight? Did Sally like it?

Margie- Did you have a good birthday? Not sure if I’m doing too many reps? DH doesn’t seem to think I am, but what does he know? If I’m still really sore on Friday I think I am going to take that day off and just rest. Did you get everything you wanted to accomplish done?

Scott- I hope the surgery next week goes well. pixiedust:

Mike- Have fun with the new laptop! Hope Robert likes his new bicycle! Haha, I’m sure you’ll look fine in pink. So do you think Liz will be interested in the Princess half?

Vicky- Yup! Soreness, is definitely from the weights!!! Let us know what you decide on the running groups.

Lynn- Way to go on the 6 miles! Do you have any specific plans on how you’re going to work on speedwork?

Emily- 100 degrees! :scared1: Whereabouts are you (north, south, east, west)? Hope the weather’s a little nicer for your run tomorrow! Where are you guys staying for the Disneyland half? Have you been to Disneyland before?

Hope- How's work? Slowing down at all? So what other details of your wedding do you already have planned?

AFM, I did something different today. I took my running clothes with me and after work changed at the gym to save some time instead of driving home, changing, and then going to the gym. I ran 4 miles. It was a long 4 miles because my legs felt like lead, but it was still a good run. I felt good when I finished (despite the slow pace). Plan to run another 4 miles tomorrow. Thanks for all your suggestions on the cold baths and rollers! I appreciate it!

Lynn: How has your knee been doing?

Scott: Hope the surgery relieves your knee pain.

Vicky: How is the calf doing?

Regina: I am seriously considering the Princess in 2012. I did the first one. I love the medal. Oh for the leg pain we use "The Stick" borrowed Dave's a few years back at marathon weekend and had to go out and buy one they are awesome.

Margie: How was your birthday?

Dave: Yaaaa another trip to the Falls!!!!!!

Yes we liked the new twilight movie. This one had lots of action so i liked it a lot better than the second one and I never saw the first.

I still think we need a movie with WerePandas. Grrrrrrrrrr!

Sally and I had a nice date night, unfortunately it's back to work for both of us today.

Vicky it's better closure if the old ring is destroyed in the waters of the falls. Like the ring in Lord of the Rings, the destruction of the ring is necessary for final closure.

PF is still there but it appears better each day so we shall see, target dat for resuming training is next wed.

Good Morning Team!

Thanks Emily!

Regina – no plans for speedwork, I am hoping that as I get used to walking longer distances that the speed will just increase. I know that I can race faster than I train – I used to train at a 16 m/m and could race at just over a 15 m/m, so I am hoping that will still be the case. I never have been very good at remembering to include speed intervals to my walks.

Kim – knee pain has not been too bad, it is to the point where the “good” knee hurts about the same as the “bad” knee, it is tolerable, mostly it just hurts when I have been sitting for more than 20 min – then it takes me awhile before I can walk normally.

Margie – glad to hear that you are feeling better!

Dave – glad that you had a good date, and that the PF is getting better.

We only got in 2 miles this morning, Kali (one of the malamutes) really did not want to walk this morning, she kept trying to turn around – I do not know if it is because she gets breakfast when she gets back home, or she is just getting worn out from our walks – she is not young. So, I did turn around to make it a 2 mile walk, also because I am planning a 10 mile walk tomorrow. I will spend more time on the bike downstairs later today. I did try some “speed intervals” on my way back – not very successfully. Tomorrow I will have to set the alarm to get up early to beat the heat – supposed to be 92 tomorrow, so it will probably heat up early.

Pixie dust to all who are in need!

Have a great day all!

Just a quick check in today! I ran 5 miles at a pace of 10:04, which is a little faster than what it's been lately. Looking back at my log, it's still a little slow for me. The news said storms here today, but the sun is now shining!

Dave~ I agree with Vicky, sell the ring at a cash for gold store! That's what I did, and it was put towards a Disney spending fund. If you throw it in the falls, it will just sink, the gold store will melt it!

Regina~ I'll talk to Liz and see if she will do the Princess. Right now we have 3 trips planned for the Wine and Dine, family trip in October at WDW, and again in January for marathon weekend. I don't know if she will go for another expense, but it would be her first half marathon. We'll see....

AFM~ I'll be puting the laptop away until this Sunday when I will have time to sit down and bond with it.

Hi team! Another hot, sunny and humid day here!

Jennifer - Is the weather hot and humid where you are? How are you liking the coaching gig?

Sue - I definitely will. I've found that airfare for January usually doesn't go on sale until October. Are you going solo this time? I have a hard time waiting that long though :) I'm fundraising for Midsummer Night's so I've got an entry there. It's for the 30K but I'm wondering if I shouldn't be in the 15K given how all these injuries have happened lately. I think this should be week #9 of training and I'm only on week 7. I think I'm going to miss out on a couple of LR so I'm not sure how i'll do. What do you think?

Lynn - Good luck on your 10 miler tomorrow! Maybe Kali was just having one of those days and wasn't up for the distance. Reminds me a little sometimes of when I get dressed in my gear, head out the door and then just don't feel like it

Margie - Sounds like you have a full plate today! Hope you're able to make it out to Pilates! I think I missed it but who's Shaurya?

Dave - I nearly spit my coffee out at computer screen when I read your Lord of the Rings analogy! I still say sell it and find a cheap-o duplicate to throw in the Falls as symbolism.

Kim - I hope you have good news at your weigh-in!! The calves were doing okay until this morning ... I got one of those nocturnal calf cramps on my right side. I get a few of them a year, this was just icing on the cake :) But ... it means that something good is around the corner right

Regina - WTG on the 4 miler! Your body will get use to the soreness from weight training and in a little while, you won't notice them on your runs as much. Good idea on changing at work!

Emily - Stay hydrated! 100 weather is really hot!

AFM - I met up with the person at work who runs at lunch. We went to check out the gym he belongs to because I figure if I'm running at lunch, I'll need a shower (especially in this heat). There's a gym in the building and it's got yoga classes so I'm thinking of joining just for that. Classes at a yoga studio around the corner from us are $15-$20 so after a month, the gym becomes worth it. He's fast ... I know I have to run with someone who's speedy to get faster but our 5K times seem like they're worlds apart. My best is 27:22 and he's down at 21:00.

Anyway, I got a guess pass for the week and will try running at lunch a couple of times next week. If I get really messy, it's not going to work out. Anyone else workout at lunch have any tips for me? :)

Going to the gym tonight and hope to get in a higher intensity workout. My PT said we can try lifting again but if not he'll probably have me doing a whole bunch of metabolic exercises and such.

Have a great day everyone! :wave2:

Kim- I would really like to do the Princess I think, if not in 2011 then in 2012. It looks like a lot of fun. Good to know about the stick. How’s your head feeling today? How was your weigh in?

Margie- I only lift weights 2 days a week. When I do lift weights, I usually focus on legs and core. What’s the difference between the foam roller and the stick?

Lynn- I’m sure your speed will increase as your distance increases. Maybe Kali was not feeling well today? How hot was it when you went walking? Good luck with your 10 mi walk and beating the heat!!

Mike- You show great control setting your new toy aside until Sunday! I’m not sure I could exercise the same discipline! 3 trips sounds like a lot of planning...but a lot of fun though!!!

Vicky- Thanks! Good to know eventually I’ll be used to the soreness and it won’t affect me as much. Can’t wait for that day! When are you guys going to start running together? Well, I haven’t run at lunch, but it seems like if you got your lunch ready early or took it with you ready, then you could eat it at your desk after lunch while you work and that could save you some time? Are you allowed to do that? I had a manager who used to run at lunch and that’s what she would do. Hope your workout went well.

AFM, I decided to take the day off. I’m going to give my body an extra day to recover and get back at it tomorrow. So I will keep all my runs for the week and leave out 1 lifting day this week.

I've also been stuck on Disney lately so I've been wandering around the other forums on the DIS. I'm kind of glad I started with WISH....people seem to be a lot more prone to be rude and argue with one another on the other forums. Frankly, I don't quite understand why they feel it's necessary to insult one another because they have differing opinions?? There's some good information there though!

Well I was on the way home from sally's place in Nashville and got a call from my retail manager, her car broke down so I had to go home and take a fast shower and open the store. Another 12 hr day and tomorrow will be a 12 to since her car is still broke.

Guys I'll post more tomorrow, I'm a whipped Panda right now and going to bed. Have a restful evening y'all.

Good Morning Team!

Mike – enjoy bonding with your laptop on Sunday :rotfl:

Regina – Kali was even worse today, but today it was because we went past a house under construction and they were using a nail gun – she does not like guns or fireworks – after that, all she wanted to do was go home (and hide in “her” closet) – so she was really obnoxious until I turned around, then pulled all the way home! It was about 75 degrees at that point. I carry water for the dogs and stop every few miles to offer it to them – they will sometimes drink and sometimes not.

Dave – sorry that you had to work extra.

Margie – take it easy – you work too hard!

I got in my 10 miles today, temp 55 at start and 80 at finish, but there was a nice breeze (16mph) which kept it tolerable. Dogs pooped out on me, one of them was being so dinghy that I brought them home at 8 miles, and did the other 2 by myself. I did a 17:30 pace, but I did not push the pace at all – just did a comfortable walk. Now I am eating breakfast – or should I say brunch looking at the time – as recovery food.

pixiedust: to all who are in need!

Have a great day all!

Hello everybody! Happy Friday! My Internet service at home has been out for the past two days. I think there was a cut somewhere so they're trying to figure it out. I have my iPhone which I can use to check email but posting is difficult. Then I recently upgraded to the new OS but somehow lost the ability to tether. It's easily fixed but I have to restore the phone which requires Internet connection ... I could go to the Starbucks near my house but it's usually full of people and their laptops and I need a plug because my laptop doesn't work without one. The battery costs about $150 to replace so I figure I might as well use that money toward a new computer. What a headache! :upsidedow

Got to the gym last night for training and I was cleared for deadlifting. Did a few sets but using lighter weight since I haven't lifted for a while. I felt pretty good but my quads are pretty sore today. I'm planning on running 21K tomorrow and 8K on Sunday. I'll have to get out early to beat the heat though - the humidity and heat make everything really sticky and difficult to run.

I finally got around to removing my pedicure last night - I had wanted to before last Sunday's race but was worried I'd tweak my back muscle. I discovered a black toe nail :scared1: It was the same toe nail that just grew back in too :sad2: Oh well, I guess it was never meant to be

Lynn - WTG on the 10 miler! Great pace too!

Margie - I haven't seen Bounty Hunter before (not a Jen Aniston fan). The running group actually turned out to be 1 person who's a lot speedier than I am. But I think I need to run with someone like that in order to take things to the next level. There's a group that goes out on Tuesday evenings but it conflicts with some other things I have. I'll send you an email and check out Facebook when I get home - assuming there's Internet

Dave - Sorry to hear about the extra hours. Do you get overtime at least? Any plans with Sally this weekend?

Regina - I think it's the annonymous nature of forums and the Internet that makes some people get all snooty and rude. I've been on some other boards as well and I don't get the bad attitudes either. If I run at lunch, I'll probably eat at my desk afterward. We're not suppose but I always do - plus we don't have a lunchroom on the floor so there's not much they can do.

Have a great weekend everyone! :wave2:

Happy Friday Team!

Flying by today. Much work to do & starting vacation in an hour.

Margie, No taper for this race. Just doing regular workouts.

Lynn, Nice work to go back out there after dropping the dogs off at home. It would be so tempting to just call it quits.

Regina, That's why I don't really venture into the other areas of the boards. Rude posters with their opinion is the only opinion that is right.

Vicky, Don't over do it & drink lots of water.

Leaving for a week at the cottage. :thumbsup2
Have a great week & training everyone..........Sue

Mmmm.... Gerard Butler....

My coworker won't return until August. :sad2: Hopefully she'll be great once she returns. But it was a rotten day at work today. Things kept going wrong and people were snide with me. But it's so stressful and tiring to be running a department with no real help.

So Jordan and I will be going down for the Wine and Dine Half....not sure if we will take Gage yet or not. His mom has been dying to have him overnight, but I would be a mess. Not sure if I'll be ready by then. Do you think it would be silly to take him? He would be up late or sleeping in his stroller and then if he doesn't get good sleep he might be a wreck on the plane ride the next day (we are flying in on Saturday and home on Sunday). Anywho...training is going ok. I am running my midweek runs with a stroller and walk breaks, but my long runs I try to run the whole time unless the heat requires a walk or two. I'm up to 7 miles...getting back up there!!

Lynn - My big dog Chop hates loud noises too. He hides in the closet when eh get scared or tries to get into our laps. Thunder while I'm driving with him in the car...yeah...not an option. He will crawl right up on top of me in the drivers seat!!

Sue - Have fun at the cottage...sounds nice and relaxing!!

Margie - I didn't see the pics of Hagens room... :confused3

Dave - Don't know how you do it...you are a work-a-holic!!!

Vicky - Saw your pic on FB...you look outstanding!! Don't know how much weight you lost, but I know you said you were doing a low sugar thing? I have about 5 more pounds to lose to get back to my pre-pregnancy weight, but I would love to lose 10 more on top of that. And a PT? I take it that is a personal training and not a physical trainer?

Hope - How are the wedding plan coming along?

To the rest... :wave2:

Hope everyone is staying cool and training safe!!!

Hi Team,

Dave- Hope work went ok today. Keep GRRRRRR’in on!!

Margie- Thanks for the information on the stick vs. roller! I haven’t seen Bounty Hunter yet but DH and I plan to see it soon. Have you seen it?

Lynn- Boy Kali sure has a mind of her own! My grandparents’ mini dachshund used to love to go for walks with my grandpa and then one time they went out for a walk on a road that had been redone with loose gravel and it hurt her paws. After that she refused to go for walks anymore and would run the opposite direction when he would ask her if she wanted to go for a walk. :lmao: Funny how independent they can be sometimes. Awesome job finishing your 10 mi even with a demanding dog on your hands!

Vicky- That’s lame your internet has been out for 2 days! That’s great you were cleared for lifting. Good luck on your 21K tomorrow and 8K on Sunday! :rotfl:, nope, doesn’t seem you were meant to have that toe nail… How long does it take to grow back? I think eating at lunch is your best bet…that and seeing what you can do to cut down on your shower/clean up time as well. If you’re organized enough, I’m sure you can pull it off. :goodvibes

Sue- Hope you have/had (depending on when you read this) a great week at the cottage!!!

Hope- Hang in there at work! I’m sorry you had such a rotten day. I’ve had those days at well and they can be pretty miserable. I hope you have a better day tomorrow!!

Eva- Congrats on signing up for Wine and Dine! Wow, that’s a really quick trip. I’m sure you’ll be ready by then if you’re already up to 7 miles. :thumbsup2 I can’t give any advice on whether or not you should take Gage since I have no kids, but I’m sure it will work out either way you decide.

AFM, I’m sure the anonymous nature contributes to the rudeness too...I just don't understand why anyone would want to be that way even if it is anonymous? I ventured over to the other boards because I wanted to see what Disney vacation planning tips were out there. I definitely don’t plan to post on them though after what I’ve seen! It was very insightful!

I ran 4 miles today. It went ok. Nice run….aside from almost falling off the TM.:scared1: Not sure exactly what happened there? It seems like I spaced for a minute and somehow tripped up my right foot. I had to grab the bar and balance myself out. I am lucky it wasn’t a lot worse! If it's not one thing it's another....

Connie-hope all is well with you guys

Dave- Hang in there!

Eva-I have had others say they could not find the pictures.
When you go to my Wall on Face Book do photos show on the left side.
I will try to see what I can do.

WTG-Congratulations on signing up for the Wine & Dine. Is Jordan doing it too?

Gage is a year old? As a grandma – I say ‘share’ and let Grandma enjoy him!!!
He will enjoy WDW so much more when he is a bit older. :upsidedow
Relax and have a Fantastic time being with Jordan!

Hope- Dress $$, Shoes $, Wedding Veil$ - Memories Priceless!
Bummer on work…it is not nice/not an excuse, :sad1:

Jennifer-WTG nice runs!

Regina- seriously, thinking about buying the movie-it looks so funny!

Other : I so agree on the insightful and would rather not be involved either.

Sue- enjoy your week-rest-get ready for your Duathon on Sunday.

Good Morning Team!

Eva – I was laughing with your description of Chop! Mine is not that bad, but she does hide in the closet, and is very unhappy if she is outside during thunder or fireworks (or on a walk when she hears some kind of gun or fireworks.)

I just took the dogs (and Scott) or a short walk around the block this morning. Kali had to be dragged, I think the 8 miles yesterday was a bit too much for her. Kali was fine once she started, and she was really happy when we made the turn to just go around the block and not the opposite way for a longer walk! Very hot here today, we got the lawn mowed early, but it was already over 90 at 11am. I think we will spend the rest of the day inside!

Hi Kids,

I'm making my first post from my new laptop, and boy is it fast! (Haven't slept yet today). I'm also in the middle of eleven days at work, and 23 out of 25! :surfweb: So, no workout for me today. 17 miles total this week.
I couldn't wait until tomorrow to play with the new toy.
I am going to make a constant effort to train for the Wine and Dine, starting Monday. It's time to get serious again! As Dave says, time to get my Grrrrr on!

Regina~ Liz said yes to doing the Princess. I'll have to double check if it's our weekend to work (they never change). So it looks like I might need something pink to where!

Eva~ I'll be at the Wine and Dine also, maybe we can all meet up!

Hope~ I've had many days in retail like yours! You are not alone! I always wonder what the rude people are like at home. Most, I think, are miserable there too.

Dave~ hang in there! You will train again, and we will race together someday! (Maybe in the dirt and mud) By the way, I haven't told many people this, but Liz's pet name for me is Polar Bear. I work in the frozen section at the store, and I guess I'm built like a bear. (It couldn't have anyting to do with my disposition.....:rolleyes1)

Jennifer~ Good to hear from you!

Lynn~ Nice, long walks!

Sue~ Good luck at your race!

Hello! Hope everyone is having a great weekend! I'm done with my running for the weekend. I tried to get in my 21k on Saturday but got out too late and it was really hot by the time I got out. I had to call the run at 10K :( I got out earlier this morning and finished the 21K! So I guess I ended up with an extra 2K in the end!

Mike - Great run and pace! Glad to hear you like the new laptop!

Kim - How was the 3 miler? I haven't been watching the Indy - are you watching on TV or going downtown to watch?

Dave - Glad to hear about the letter! I'll bet you're looking forward to putting this all behind you. How's your PF doing today?

Margie - I'm just not a morning person so when I say early, I guess 9 AM is early  I probably should have left both mornings around 7-7:30 but have some bad habits of sleeping in on the weekend. Oh - can you remove calves and back and add back on the ankle. Go figure! I think it's the LR today that did it - I have to go and find my brace.

Regina - I've spaced out on the TM before. I ended up dropping my iPhone which some how stuck to the belt and got sucked underneath. It got majorly scratched but luckily I had a case so all the damage was done to the case. Feel free to ask the team any Disney related travel questions. We've all been many, many times and all different times of the year so we'll be able to help out!

Lynn - Glad to hear that Kali was more cooperative for this walk :)

Eva - I'm down about 14.3 lbs since I got back from the 1/2 in January. Yup, I've been doing a low to no sugar diet which means a lot of label reading. It's a lot of effort but totally worth it. I've also cut out white breads, white pasta, white rice and fried foods. Whole wheat and brown rice are still okay. It will restrict a lot of what you can and can't eat if you go out to eat. My PT is both my physio and personal trainer - he's certified for both. A lot of the training we do is actually pre-hab (injury prevention) but works for weight loss as well. As for Gage, I say you and Jordan should enjoy the weekend and leave him with grandma :) It's a short trip and you'll be back before you know it!

Hope - The veil is gorgeous! Sorry to hear about the work situation. Customer service can be a rough job sometimes. Hope you get some less cranky and more pleasant customers soon. Hang in there!

Have a great day everyone! :wave2:

Good Afternoon Everyone!

Regina - I live in Southern California. We're staying at the Homewood Suites on Harbor Blvd for the half. I've been to DL many times as we live about 45 min away and we had AP one year.

AFM - It's still very hot here, but it's supposed to cool down some this week. I had one of my worst runs in a while today. I was supposed to go 4 miles, I had about 3/4 mile left when I felt like I was going to be sick so I called it quits. It was pretty hot during the run and there was very little shade on the course we were following. I drank water during the run but I think the heat did me in today. I'll need to get out earlier for my weekend runs.

Hope everyone had a good weekend.

Good morning guys, I'm up at 4am to get some pool work done at 5am. Then it's going to be a busy day of getting things prepared for a final settlement with my ex. The lawyers still have to get the agreement language written but we reached an agreement on the numbers. I'm going to be broke for a while but I'll be free of her once and for all. A bit risky though since I have no back up funds for an emergency for a while.

I just saw a commercial for a new reality show about a couple who divorced but can't afford seperate households so they are still living under the same roof. Now that folks is insane!

My PF is much better although I haven't tried to walk and I'm waiting till wed to try again. Today is pool walking with is more on the toes than a regular walk so it doesn't pressure the injured heel. Then after the pool is good stretching in the hot whirlpool.

Have a great day everyone and wish the panda luck that everything goes as planned.

Hi Everybody!

It's been a long week here. Hot, humid, and generally July! :lmao: DH didn't have much work this week...well none, as a matter of fact. When I was having back spasms (a latent result of being tossed by a mule and doing the heavy lifting for DH), I have been burning up the roads, in a vehicle and canning. At this point, I am really looking forward to WINTER!!!

I will once again be out of pocket while we go to AR for a family reunion. Camping in the heat. Sounds lovely, don't you think? Got a room for the last 3 days, though! :thumbsup2 But with no internet! Who knew?

Good luck, take care, don't stress, don't have any more heat events, train well and safely and I will be back soon!

Good Morning Team!

Dave – the letter from the lawyer sounds very promising!

Mike – great run!

Connie – have a good time!

We called our walk this morning, not because of heat, but because Taiya – the other malamute, kept yelping this morning, we still do not know what she is yelping about, we cannot find any visible injury, and cannot tell exactly where she is hurting – so I just decided not to walk her this morning. I guess that means spending time in the basement on the bike for my exercise today. Yesterday we did another short loop (1.25 miles), and I spent 45 min on the spin bike. Still pretty warm here – highs are still in the 90’s, at least the lows are in the 50’s so it is cool in the early morning.

Pixie dust to all who are in need!

Have a great day all!

It should be in the 90's here today with heavy rain expected tonight. I'm too tired from work to run this morning, so I'll try and get out this afternoon. Four more days of work and I get a weekend off. :woohoo: Our local festival is this weekend with a parade, bands in the park, food vendors, a race on Sunday (5 & 10 K) and fireworks Sunday night. I haven't decided if I'll race yet as they have closed online registration. If I do, it will probably be the 5K as it is going to be hot all week.

Regina~ No Princess race for us as it will be our weekend to work. We are using a weeks vacation for the Half in January and again for the DL half in the fall, so most of my time off is used up. I might use my personal days to do the Everest Challenge again next year, or the Chicago Rock and Roll half.

Vicky, Kim~ I caught some of the Indy race in Toronto, it looked like a very difficult course to drive, but very cool that they used local streets. I wish Chicago would do something like that!

Time for some sleep, Mike

Lynn~ I almost forgot, I hope your pup is okay, it's so hard when they can't talk! I once had one of our housecats hobble over to me and hold up his hurting paw to me and meow for me to fix it, broke my heart! He was fine after his xrays at the vet!

Good morning team!

Margie - WTG on the 6 mile bike ride! No rush on the pics! Great deal on the cubby and mirror! I miss Sam's Club. They had them in Canada for a number of years but shut them down a couple of years ago. I think they were having trouble competing with Costco.

Mike - Wow! You're working hard! I'm not a racing fan but I always wonder how the drivers are able to take those turns at the speeds they're going. What kind of racing do they do in Chicago? I'm thinking back to the racing movie with Sylvester Stallone but can't remember much.

Lynn - Hope everything is okay with Taiya! Love the names you have for your pups btw!

Connie - pixiedust: for your back! Ouch - back pain is no fun! I hope it's better by the time you have to go camping for your family reunion. Glad you got a hotel for the last three days of the trip. I'm a city gal so I've never been camping before.

Kim - I want to know where the cool weather is!! I need a pool like you guys have.

Dave - What kind of reality show is that? :( I don't think it would be any fun to watch other people as their lives fall apart. I hope things go well with the lawyers and I can't wait for you to be done with this mess. Stay strong! How are things with your daughter and grandbaby?

AFM - I've got training at the gym tonight and then a run tomorrow at noon. I'm sure it will be smoking hot but it's a 5K. Strangely I'm looking forward to it.

I watched a show on TLC last night about strange addictions. There were people who were addicted to tanning, eating chalk, shopping and the last person was addicted to running. He said he ran about 100 miles ... a week!! And he did something like 4 marathons in a different week. It seemed like all he did was work, sleep, eat and run. He had a girlfriend but seemed like he had very little time for her and she was basically his "pit crew". I fell asleep before the end so I don't know if he got treatment for his addiction. I think he had entered an ultramarathon (100 miles). I barely get in 100 miles a month so I can't imagine how much time he was taking to do that in a week!! And how many pairs of shoes was he going through....

Have a great day everyone! :wave2:

Vicky: I watched a bit of that show as well.....very weird the chalk eatting girl, that must be so horrible for her.

Margie: WTG on the bargins!!!!

Mike: It is a hard course, very bumpy, It is nice that they use the roads but not sure how much people who live in the area like it;)

Lynn & Scott: Hope your baby is ok.

Connie: Hi how are you!!!! WINTER....you want winter:headache:

Not too much on the go for me, I think our humidity has snapped so out for a walk a little early tonight.

I got my veil today! Almost wound up punching Nick in the face because he was a bit too close when I was ripping the little string to open it. It's like a five year old at Christmas, on speed. He would've been better off tossing me the box and staying a minimum of ten feet away. But it's perfect. I can't wait to see it with my dress!

I had a much nicer day today with Nick (besides that whole almost punching him in the face thing). We just relaxed and watched movies while I worked on a quilt.

Hi everyone!

Dave- Congrats on finally being able to settle and get some closure! That’s fantastic news! :woohoo: It sounds like the risk is worth it if it finally means you get to move forward and look to your future., I can’t believe the crap they come up with for these reality shows these days. I’m glad your PF is better. How’d the pool workout go? GOOD LUCK that everything goes as planned! I’ll be thinking of you and hoping everything works out just the way you need it to!

Margie- Some of my favorite actresses are also Sandra Bullock and Julia Roberts. I like Meg Ryan too but I think Sandra is my first choice. I’m glad you liked Bounty Hunter- that’s good to know because we have it on our Netflix and are waiting for an available one to get sent to us. :lmao: funny how easily we can get distracted on the DM huh? WTG on the 6 mile bike ride!!!! You got some good shopping deals today…

Mike- Good luck getting your Grrrr back on! Great time on your 4 miler BTW! Sounds like days off are long overdue for you. That’s a bummer you and Liz won’t be able to do the Princess. I’m really seriously considering it and am thinking if Wine and Dine goes well for me and if it’s still open at that time that I will sign up. Would Liz be interested in doing the Chicago R&R half as well?

Vicky- Way to go on the 10k and still getting through the 21k the next day! :worship: Sounds pretty scary to be dropping your phone and getting it stuck in the belt! I’ve dropped my towel and ipod before and both freak me out a little. Then I stop so fast that I get dizzy from looking down and have to walk for a few minutes to recover before I can run again.:headache: I gotta say running 5k at noon sounds absolutely dreadful to me. It’s interesting to see what people get addicted to.

Hope- Just remember it’s ultimately their bad manners and not your issue. I try to picture nasty comments from customers/clients just rolling off my back. Don’t let them ruin your day! I’m glad your day went well. Beautiful picture! The veil was also! What movies did you guys watch?

Emily- I’m glad you listened to your body. Better to slow down and call it an early day for one run than let it ruin future runs as well. DH lived in San Diego when he was stationed in the Navy several years back. I don’t think I’ve heard of the Homewood Suites?....is it still pretty close to where you need to be for the race and everything? I can’t remember if I asked you this or not, but are you training with a specific program?

Kim- Thanks! It’s always good to hear those words over and over again! Thanks for the reminder!

Connie- Have a great trip!

Lynn- Hope the biking went well today!

AFM, I did not feel at all like running today…just didn’t want to do it. But, I got my butt up and went to the gym to run on TM. Of course they were all taken so DH and I went home, grabbed Sydney and went to the park to run. I ran 3 miles and walked the last mile. Didn’t keep time and just tried to enjoy the run. It was about 80 degrees so I went nice and slow. I’ve also been wearing my fuel belt and I must say I rather enjoy it. This week is my first 7 mile run on Sunday so I’m hoping I’ll be up to it by the end of the week.

Good luck with training team!

Be a cheap date night since I'll be broke as a church mouse for a month. Then I'll take a good look at my dauther's situation and see what needs to be done there to steer her onto the right track.:cloud9:

Hi team! Well I brought all my running gear downtown and went running at lunch. It was hot and I'm not use to running fast. Thank goodness for traffic lights! To his credit, my running buddy did slow down but I'd occasionally look at my watch and it said we were running at 7:30-8:00 m/m. I did have to take a lot of walking breaks because I'm just not use to going out that fast. I think I might have done better going at an even 9:00 m/m pace.

Dave - Sounds like you've got a good day ahead of you! Gotta love those! Hope things work out at the lawyer's.

Scott - pixiedust: Hope things go well for you today!

Regina - WTG on your 3 miler! There were actually quite a few people out running at noon. I have to say, I would have preferred to run my leisurely 10:30-11:30 m/m pace but I know I have to go faster if I ever want to be faster. I think the worst part was just feeling really hot after the run (even after a cold shower) for about a 1/2 hour afterward.

Kim - I can't imagine what the chalk tastes like let alone what it does to your body. But maybe it's just all minerals and calcium ... How was your walk? How are you finding the PX90 workout now?

Hope - Nice quilt! I laughed when you described how you opened the box!!

That's all for now! Gotta get back to work! Have a great day everyone :wave2:

Hi Team,

I ran five miles today in 48:38 for a pace of 9:43. I wanted eight, but it got too darn hot! Tomorrow is a routine doctor's appointment, so probably no run.
We got the Epcot Food and Wine Festival guide in the mail yesterday, did anyone else get one? I was checking it out and saw the band list, I mentioned to Liz that Howard Jones, Taylor Dane, and Kool and the Gang are scheduled while I (We) will be there. She said "Who?":confused3 Who?, I'm really not THAT old am I? She must be THAT young! (Ten years difference)

Scott~ I hope the surgery went well and you are in recovery!

Margie~ It's always fun to get a shopping deal. I'm the chief shopper, decorator in our house also.

Vicky~ l love the racing movie with Sly in it, although the name escapes me right now. Chicagoland Speedway has stock car, drag racing, and I think Indy car also. It's located in Joliet, IL about and hour outside of the city. Never been there for a race though. My dad and I used to go to the Milwaukee,WI track and watch the stock cars. I can remember seeing Bobby Allison and Ricky Rudd. Great run in the heat!

Dave~ Keep peace in your heart and it will follow in life. And have a beer once everything is signed!

Lynn~ How's the pup? Let us know about Scott when you can! :grouphug: to you both!

Hope~ Beautiful quilt! Getting closer to the wedding!

Fun Fact for the day: Did you know that an Indy car, at speeds over a hundred, produces enough down-force aerodynamicly to ride upside down if they could build the road! Acoording to Paul Neuman and Mario Andretti.

Thanks for the quilt love! It's bigger now, has the second row finished and the third is a little over half way done. Maybe, I'll have it together for our wedding. Or our fifth anniversary. It's all hand stitched.

Today was quite rotten. Found a "ding" on our car. Someone manage to whack our poor car. I had a rough therapy session, my therapist made me face one of my fears. Then we found out that Nick's debit card was compromised. So it's been a frustrating day, but I still had a 'date' with Nick so it wasn't all bad.

Oh, the movies were Percy Jackson and The Wolfman. Both were good.

Hello All!

Scott - I hope the surgery went well!

Regina - Homewood suites is south of Katella Blvd, it's not very close to the parks. But the race shuttle picked up at the hotel last year so I'm hoping it will this year. If all else fails we'll drive ourselves. We decided to stay farther away because last year we stayed at the Fairfield Inn and the fireworks were very loud. We're following the marathoning for mortals half marathon walk/ run plan. WTG on your 3 miler! I also have days where I just don't want to go running.

Dave - I hope everything went well at the lawyer's today.

Hope - Your quilt is beautiful, so amazing that it is hand stitched.

AFM - Went running yesterday after work, the temperature has dropped down into the 80s so it was quite nice out. Had a softball game tonight. My team won :cool1: I had a pretty good game too, I just started playing this year so I'm happy if I manage to catch the ball or score a run.

Good morning y'all.

Well my lawyer is drafting the final settlement/closure agreement. He will run it by her lawyer and then have the judge bless it as a permanent change to the divorce degree. As long as she, my ex, doesn't decide to get weird about something it should be a done deal within a week. Of course I'll have to run over something on the way home from work in the evenings if I'm to have supper but I'll be finally free of her.

I'm heading out to walk with my race walking group this morning. I'll just do an easy pace and not our normal sub 12 min miles. I tried a walk yesterday and it went pretty well. I went 2.5 miles and the last mile was a bit uncomfortable but I wasn't hurting after and I stretched really well after. I didn't hurt when I got up this morning either so that is encouraging.

I'm headed off to Nashville to spend the evening with Sally.

Everyone have a magical day.

Good morning everyone!

Dave - If you're going to run something over, can you run something over for me too? Sounds like your PF is starting to get better! Make sure you're still taking things easy though. Have fun with Sally tonight!

Emily - Congrats on winning the softball game! Funny how a small drop in temperature when it's this hot out can make such a big difference for running.

Hope - Sorry to hear about the ding :( People can be really careless sometimes when they're opening doors in parking lots. Hope the session with the therapist was cathartic and you're feeling better :)

Mike - Great run and pace, especially considering the heat! I had to go and look up the name of the movie it's Driven. I had to laugh at the age thing - when I went to DC last month, I was talking to my friend's GF who's 10 years younger than him (so recent college grad). I can't remember how we started talking about it but I happened to mention Jello pudding pops. And she was like "What's that??" So I'm trying to explain what they are - you know Bill Cosby ... and she's just looking at me blankly. Oh you kids! (Boy did I feel old though).

Lynn - WTG on your 6 miler! Did the pups give you any attitude about the distance?

Scott - Glad to hear that your surgery went well! You're able to hop back on the bike a day after? Make sure you take it easy though.

Margie - Thanks for sending over the pictures! The room looks amazing! You did a great job!! I think I do need someone to push me a little so I think running with someone faster will be tricky for a little bit but I'm hoping I'll eventually get use to it. And I think like all things (in my life), it's always nice to have someone to help push and cheer me along!

AFM - The local running store is having a 20 minute fun run tonight so I think I'll go and check it out. Okay, I'm really going for the free hat and the discount coupon (I need to get a new Fuel Belt) but want to see what it's like and try to go out with them regularly on Wednesday nights. The only thing is that they meet at 6:30 PM which means I'd have to eat well before or a lot later than I'm use to (7:30-8PM by the time the run is done and I'm back home). So we'll see.

Have a great day everyone! :wave2:

Vicky, yes I'll aim for a large one that we can share, a small deer or turkey should do nicely. Lots more wood chucks and raccoons though. If I were you I would eat a small snack a bit before and then your dinner after even though it's later.

Scott, very true about the church mouse, or in this case panda. I'm rich with friends. My walker buds wanted to get me new shoes this morning since mine are getting pretty worn. I told them I would be fine and I will since I've been saving every penny for this closure.

Margie, yes the walk went well, I walked the first two miles easy, 14:08 pace then the group went on to finish their 6.5 miles while I stretched. It was pretty comfortable.

I'm off to do some laundry then a nap and off to Nashville for Sally time.

Hi Kids,

Just checking in today, no workout. We are supposed to have some major storms tonight, bu who knows, everything seems to go South and towards Margie!
Went to see the cancer doc today and he says my bloodwork is perfect. I'm apparently in great shape. My pulse rate was only 43 and the nurse remarked how low it was and how it is good even for a runner. Results for tests for my cancer marker in my blood will be back at my next visit in a few weeks. I'm not expecting any suprises as last time it was way down. Now, if I can only lose about twenty pounds more....

To all who have asked – Taiya seems to be fine, she went on a 6 mile walk this morning – she is still yelping occasionally, mostly when someone touches her head behind her ears, but then if we probe the area, she does not react at all, so, who knows? We start our walk at about 60 degrees or less – so heat should not be an issue.

All of our malamutes are named after geographical features in Alaska - usually mountains. Taiya is a mountain range, Kali is short for Kahiltna which is a glacier. Whenever we get a new dog, I get a detailed map of Alaska and start writing down names, after a few days, we usually find one that seems to fit the puppy.

Hope – nice quilt!

Dave – good luck to you with your dealings with Erica! Have fun on your date night!

Scott’s surgery went well according to the doc – it was short – just 2 hours from entering prep to when doc came out saying he was awake! Today we went shopping, he was looking for a specific classical CD – which apparently does not exist in Cheyenne – but the stop at several stores wore him out, at least he will now sit – I could not get him to sit down this morning, he kept running around doing stuff! I do not know if he will make it downstairs to the bike today – maybe tomorrow. Doc said he could do stuff as long as he felt OK.

The dogs and I did a 6 mile walk this morning, both dogs did fine on the walk (even Kali, who thinks she does not want to walk, has fun once we start out – they were both trying to chase rabbits today – my arms are sore from holding them back). It was harder than last weeks 6 miles because of the last 2 days of really short or no walks. I do better when I walk daily.

Pixie dust to all who are in need!

Have a great day all!

Hi team,

Dave- I’m keeping my fingers crossed everything goes through without a hitch!! I hope you enjoyed date night with Sally. :goodvibes

Vicky- Way to go making it through your lunch run!! It sounds like you’ll be speedy in no time keeping up that fast of a pace! How’d the 20 min. fun run go? What did the free hat look like? Hopefully the discount is a good one! Which fuel belt do you use?

Hope- I hope today went better for you! I haven’t seen the Wolfman, but I liked Percy Jackson.

Kim-:wave2:

Emily- Thanks! Well, it sounds like if the shuttle went there last year there’s a good chance it will run there this year? Lots of people on WISH seem to talk about marathoning for mortals and say good things about it. I’m using the marathon method by Tom Holland to train for my first half. Congrats on winning your softball game!! :woohoo: I’m glad the weather was also cooler for your run.

Margie- WTG on your 11 mile bike ride!!:cheer2:

Scott- I’m glad surgery went well. What did they say recovery time was? I was also surprised you were able to hop back on the bike the day after.

Mike- That’s great! I’m glad to hear you’re healthy!

Lynn- I’m glad Taiya is ok. What made you decide to name your dogs after geographical features in Alaska? Sounds like you got a pretty good arm workout! Great job on your 6 miles!

AFM, DH and I went to the gym and did our workouts today. I held the plank for 2 minutes! The side ones are still a lot harder. DH said it’s time for me to make the planks harder and keep building that way….so we will see how that goes. I only have 1 workday left because I took Friday off this week. I think that’s about it…nothing too crazy going on in Idaho (at least not with me!). I hope everyone’s well!

BTW, how do I do a picture in the signature, and how do I get a “Team Hakuna Matata” pic for my signature? I’ve tried to look for the thread before that says how to do it, but couldn’t find it??

Hi everyone!

Margie - Have a fantastic day at the zoo! How many kiddos are you taking with you?

Regina - WTG on your planks! I think I get wobbly and shakey after 30 seconds or so. To add the HK logo, you have to click on the link for your User CP (top of the page, left hand side), then click on edit signature and cut and paste this link into your signature and save (just remove the space I added in). http: //s244.photobucket.com/albums/gg37/scotth5150/th_HM2-3.jpg

I use the two bottle belt - http://www.fuelbelt.com/fuel_belts/2_bottle.html It's the first one at the top of the page. For my longer runs, I'm finding that two bottles isn't quite enough, especially with the temperatures so I'm getting a 4 bottle belt. My only complaint with the belt was that the front pocket wasn't quite big enough for my phone and some extra beans or blocs.

The fun run was ... fun :) They gave us cake and water afterward. I started at the back of the group and got bored so I decided I'd try to catch up to the people at the front. I caught up to them and ended up being the first person back. So you know that people weren't going fast at all  The hat was red - I'll post a pic when I get home.

Kim - Congrats on the new Garmin! Don't throw it around ;) Just ask us and we'll help you out. Did you get a free hat at the Running Room yesterday?

Mike - Great news from the doctor!! Are you going to try and lose the 20 lbs? I forget how much you've lost so far.

Hope - Hope you're having a good day today!

Lynn - that's a great way to get names! Hadn't thought about doing that before. Hope everything is okay with Taiya!

Scott - How's the knee doing today? Hope you're taking things easy :)

AFM - I did the fun run at the local running store yesterday. There were lots of people and I did chat with a few runners but like me they were there for the hat and cake :D I'll try going back next Wednesday to see what the regular groups are like. They also have a group that goes out Sunday morning .. but it's at 8:30AM. I finished the run in about 17+ minutes, I got bored and just decided to see if I could catch up to the runners in front.

I've got training tonight and then tomorrow is a rest day and Friday. Definitely looking forward to the weekend :)

Have a great day everyone! :wave2:

Good morning Team!

Regina - Good job on the planks! The dogs are Alaskan malamutes - Alaskan names seemed appropriate.

We did only a short walk today but have 12 planned for tomorrow. Scott is doing OK, he was a bit more sore this morning, he did not get on the bike yesterday - maybe today. Need to get back to the tour, have a great day team!

Today hasn't been much better. After trying to get Nick's account to positive, they assessed another fee, plunging his account back into negative. :scared1: But hopefully we can get it fixed now. It's been a nightmare.

Work has been worse. They have been changing things on me, adding to my work load and nixing my case designs. It's one thing to nix my design but I'd like some guidance of what they want. I talked to my manager to tell him I'd like a bit of guidance instead of "The case sucks." Hopefully when they district guy comes, we can be fabulous. I like constructive criticism.

I want to see my veil with my dress, but I haven't had the chance to get the veil and go over to Nick's parents place. Nick will be thrown out of the 'Trying on' phases from now on to surprise him. Though, I don't think he could pick my dress out of a line up. :bride: Why isn't it December 1, 2011 yet?!

I also found out that they can deny my father a spot in the half way house based on his physical restrictions. He had a stroke and has some. It's so devastating to think about that. I want him to be there to walk me down the aisle and now we have this potentially huge stumbling block thrown up.

Ice cream and Jack Daniels are made for days like this, but they are so bad for my waistline. But hugs work.

I got in a nice track workout before it got to hot. Started with one mile regular walking to warm up and then did a mile with race walking technique, it was a bit uncomfortable on the last lap so I stopped and stretched then did a second mile of race walking. First mile was 14:17 and second was 13:37, hey it's a start. Then stretched and went to the hospital cafe for a nice breakfast.

I'm still dealing with the PF but each workout is getting better. Those darn 12 hr shifts, being on my feet that long, are not good for my PF issue but hey I have a job right!!

Found out yesterday that my ex didn't even though that I had agreed to her settlement offer so I told her to call her lawyer to get going with it. She has one of those lawyers that get a portion of what she gets and don't do a lot to earn it.

Good Morning Team! I guess it is almost afternoon here now!

I was going for 12 miles this morning, took the dogs for a 6 mile loop, stopped at home to drop them off, get more water and use the bathroon, the headed out for another 6 miles. At 9 miles (total), I started to hit the wall, (where is that sweeper bus when you really want it???) then Scott called to say there was something going on in town he wanted to go to (he is getting cabin fever really bad) and could I hurry home? I walked out to the main road, and flagged down the first car that came along, and asked for a ride down the road. It cut about a mile out of my walk, I ended up doing 11.05 miles, and Scott got to go to town! My average pace was 17:57. I walked better with the dogs than without.

Dave - hope you get everything settled soon!

Margie - I am planning a 14 mile walk next week, then start tapering back down with a 12, a 10, an 8, then 6 until the race. I picked Alaska for the dogs names because they are "Alaskan Malamutes".

Hope, good luck to you with your Dad and your wedding.

Pixie dust to all who may need it today!

Have a great day all!

Hi everyone!

Haven't really had anything to say, so I haven't posted for a while, but I have been keeping up with everyone. Just wanted to let my team know that DH and I have officially registered for the WDW Half in January. Our goal is then to do the DL half in Sept. 2011. We will be celebrating our 35th anniversary that year, and plan to incorporate a trip to Yosemite and Sequoia parks before the run to celebrate.

I have an appointment to see the doctor about my knee on Monday. DH and I have recently started to train for the Wine and Dine relay, and running has naturally caused it to flare up a bit. I really don't think there is anything that she can do, but I just want to be sure.

Of course, it's brutally hot here, so my runs have been short or on the indoor track. Hope everyone can do their best to keep cool!

Interesting work decision to make today. Another store doesn't have a licenced optician to supervise the operation and are asking for temporary help until they can hire an optician. There are no opticians to hire so not sure how long temporary means. It would be a good at-a-boy in my file and all the overtime I want.

I did a pool workout today, I'm back to walk training every other day, easy right now and pool training on the other days. My PF is feeling better all the time.

Hope, I found out that those checks the credit card company send you with low rates for 12 months come with a hefty fee if you use one. So does on line cash advance on your card.

Everyone have a day of wonder and adventure.

I'll hear all the details today. They will pay all my expences, hotel, food, gas ect and I can work all the hours I want. But it's 150 miles away. The regional director would owe me a favor or if I turn it down she might think I'm panda poo. I'm the only single optician with a Kentucky licence within 500 miles of the Paducah store. The store is on the other side of Ky lake and right on the Misouri border.

I could use the extra money right now with my settlement with Erica breaking me. But the drive and living out of a suitcase would make me feel like Scott.

My toe is doing better. I walked to work this morning, about two miles.

We already learned the hard credit lesson. Due to unemployment and life, we wound up about 16,000 in credit debt. It took almost four years to get out of that hole with the help of a credit management company, Nick's parents, hard work, and luck. It was so exciting to send that final payment then have the flexibility in our budget. So now, we have no credit cards. Only debt is student loans. People don't believe me when I tell them we don't have a car payment either (we were lucky enough to pay it off when we bought it). But for now, we work to live within our means.

Hi Team,

Lot's of posts to read! You guys rock! On Thursday, I did eight miles WITH THE WIFE! It was her longest run yet. We took two water breaks and our pace was 11:25. Liz was tired and sore, but glad she did it! I signed up for the local 5K to be run this morning. It's cooled off quite a bit and should only be 81 today with sun and clouds.
I took Robert to our parade yesterday and we got 167 pieces of candy!:) The park with the carnival and bands was closed because of the flooding, which was a bummer because they had a great Beatles copy band playing.

Regina~ HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY!!:banana::banana: Did you do anything fun?

Dave~ What you are saying it that we should become liscensed opticians and move your way? Sounds like you have great job security! I say, go for it, but make sure that your old job will still be there!

Scott~ Glad you are recovering so well!

Lynn~ Great job on your walk!

Vicky~ I'm stuck at about 217 lbs, I was 210 at our wedding in 2008, so I know I can be lighter. I just haven't had the time to workout and rest with all the hours that I've been working.

Mary~ It looks like we will be seeing each other sometime down the road! I'm doing the Donald in January and hoping for the half at DL in 2001 also!

AFM~ Time to shower and off the races! It might be a tough one, as the last 3/4 of a mile is uphill!

My plan of training every other day seems to be going well as the PF is still getting better. I'll blog how I beat the planter fasciitis as soo as it's gone for good.

Workout went well. I wore my new insoles and they seemed to work great. I went to the mall to beat the heat and after a .8 mile warm up lap I did 3 laps at 12:55 mpm pace. It's getting better each time and I might just win this PF battle.

Hope everyone has a super weekend.

Hey Team!

Dave- So what did you decide with the optician job offer 150 miles away??

Margie- Thank you for the warm b-day wishes! Did you make it on your bike ride or to the gym?

Vicky- Thanks! I was really surprised I could hold it for 2 min! My sides get really wobbly and shaky after about 30-45 seconds too. Thanks for the help with the HK logo! Do you know what 4 bottle belt you’re going to get? The fuel belt I have came with a really small pocket. All I can fit in it is keys and/or a travel size body glide. I’m going to order a bigger pocket and switch out the smaller one at some point in the near future. I’m glad the fun run went well!

Lynn- Thank you for the warm b-day wishes! Great idea to name the dogs after Alaskan geographical locations. 11.05 mi is still a great walk and I agree w/Margie- I think yard work should count as a work out too!:thumbsup2

Scott- Glad you’re feeling better about DL and are able to use the stationary bike.

Hope- How are things going? Any better? I sure hope your days are starting to get a little better! Does his PO think it’s likely they will deny him a spot in the half way house based on his restrictions? Is there a Plan B in case Plan A falls through with the house? Great job on your 2 mile walk!

Elizabeth- How’d the 5k go?! Can’t wait to hear your report!!!

Sue- How was the duathalon?! I hope it went well! Let us know how you did!

Mary- Hi! Glad to see you’re back. I hope your knee appt tomorrow goes well!

Mike- Thanks for the belated happy birthday! Tell Liz I said GREAT JOB on the 8 miles!!! That’s very impressive!! DH and I have the same birthday (he’s 17 minutes older than I am…..strange, I know), so we always celebrate together. We went to the Cheesecake Factory for lunch and saw Inception. We liked it, although it was long for me… over 2.5 hours. Great job on the 5k today! Awesome time even with the uphill at the end!

Kim- How’d the beach run go?

AFM, Kyle and I had a nice birthday weekend. We went to Café Ole on Friday because I love their fajitas, Cheesecake Factory on Saturday for pasta and cheesecake, and saw Inception. We also bought and watched the Bounty Hunter, and watched Tooth Fairy and She’s Out of My League through Netflix. I bought some new Teva shoes for work and Kyle and I are going to order a pair of the Vibram Five Finger Shoes to try out as our birthday present to ourselves. The only problem is they are either out of stock or backordered everywhere in like every style!! What’s the deal? :confused3 I hope it doesn’t take too long for them to come in as I’m planning on using them as some of my vacation shoes when we go to Orlando, and I can't do that if they stay backordered forever. :sad2: I have pretty much taken the last 4 days off from working out until today. I went to the gym for my 7 mile run and watched Design Star and House Hunters International on the TM ( I love HGTV). I did it a little differently today though- I took a minute walk break every mile to drink some water and had to stop half way through to use the restroom. Otherwise, I kept up it at a 12 min pace the first half and then between 11:30 and 11:45 for the last half.

Hope everyone’s week if off to a great start tomorrow!

Hi everyone! Happy Monday :) Just doing a quick fly-by today - will catch up later today or or tomorrow. The weekend was pretty hot but it did cool down enough for me on Sunday to make an attempt on my 15.5 mile run. Made it to 13 and got stomach cramps so I called it there. I figured that was close enough. Ran 5 miles on Saturday and 3 miles this morning. Nothing too spectacular. I'm planning to go to the gym tonight for training.

Regina - WTG on your run! Great pace :) I'm trying to get the 4 bottle belt that has the thin wide pocket at the front. It's just big enough to hold my phone and keys. There were some other 4 bottle styles but the pockets seemed like they were only big enough for a couple of gel shots. The Vibram shoes are pretty hard to get, I guess they're pretty popular right now. Give yourself time to get use to them. My PT has them and said he had to wear them on and off for a while because they have a different feeling to them.

Mike - Great 5K time! You'll be doing 25:00-26:00 in no time at all! And WTG to Liz on her 8 miler!!

Margie - How did your walk with Nikki go this morning?

Dave - The job sounds like a good opportunity for extra cash. Did you make a decision on it?

Scott - How's the knee doing? pixiedust:

Sue - Are you back from the cottage?

Good morning y'all.

I had a nice workout with a race walking friend. We did one mile warm up then 3 miles at race walk technique, slow 13 min pace, then one mile cool down. Not pushing the pace just staying comfortable. Stretched good after.

I'm going to go by the lawyer's office after I clean up and see where we are on getting the settlement signed. Then I can plan the days I'll spend at the other store. I will work three days there and three days here with a day of overtime.

They will pay all my expences at the other store including gas, food and lodging.

Happy Monday Team!

Had a nice relaxing week at the cottage. Beautiful weather with no humidity.

Regina, Happy Belated Birthday to you & your DH. Love the CCF. Wish they would come to Canada.

Vicky, I'm also going through the fuel belt issues. I have the 2 bottle Helium belt but bought the larger bottles. I think 10 oz. instead of 8. Took the little pouch off & bought a larger pouch to put between the 2 bottles at the back. My issue is how comfortable the 4 bottle belt would be rubbing against the forearms which has prevented me from upgrading.
Did you run last week with the RRoom Run Club? How did it go?

AFM, Had a great time at the duathlon. It was a excellent run event. No bling but we did get tech tees. It is already my most favourite race tee & I haven't even wore it yet. Had a great first run & bike. The second run I was a little disappointed in my pace. Both the run & bike courses were very hilly. DH did the triathlon. The swim course was also a very challenging swim up river. My goal was a 1:45 finish & I finished in 1:39:50.
I loved that they mark everyone's age on their calf. 1 gentleman racing was 80. Wow!

Now it's onto serious marathon training mode for October.

Have a great day...........Sue

Good Afternoon Team!

Vicky~ I have the larger pouch for my fuel belt and our local running store carries alot of colors and options. If you need something specific, I can always buy it for you and send it up yonder. The larger pouch holds my cell phone (Samsung Instinct) with some room left over, slips right on the belt. Let me know...

Dave~ Congrats on the final closure! I know how you feel. I went out with some friends to celebrate! Good luck with the commute!

Sue~ Great race!

Regina~ Our other local running store carries the Vibram shoes. Same goes for you, I can check availability and always buy them and send them onto you. Let me know... Being from the Midwest there might be some around here. Besides it means we have an excuse to visit the store!

AFM~ I ran eight miles today in 1:21:22 with a pace of 10:10 a mile. I missed a PR by 24 seconds! Oh well, next time.... I can feel my running Mojo returning! :woohoo:

Hi Everyone!

Vicky- WTG on the 13 miles!! Hope the gym workout goes well! I feel like my pace is still really slow on the TM, but figure the more I run the faster I’ll get. I didn’t realize how hard the vibram shoes were to get. That’s why I wanted to order them now- so I would have time to get used to them so by October they would be good to go.

Dave- It seems like really good timing that job offer would come up right when you are broke as a church mouse!

Lynn- Glad you made it out for a 3 mile walk today!

Sue- Thanks! I waited for the CCF to make it to Boise for what seemed like forever! I’m glad you had a great week at the cottage. Is it the design you like on the tee or is the material better than other tees? How long was each of your run and bike periods? I agree with Margie, I’d love to see a pic of the shirt as well!

Margie- We had a very nice birthday. Great job holding the plank for a minute!! I am very skilled in the art of daydreaming….so it’s pretty easy for me to space off. Usually I’m thinking about something I’m looking forward to doing, or talking myself into 15 more seconds…or just a little longer…..to make it through. I’m sure it’s going to be really hard when I try it again later this week but up the difficulty level. WTG on the 10 mile bike ride!!

Mike- That would be great! DH is looking for a size 41 in the flow (preferably black, but any color is fine) and I’m looking for a women’s size 39 (preferably in grey/fuschia upper or agate grey upper, but will also take any color if they’ve got it) in the KSO (not the KSO trek, just the KSO). Yay to your running mojo returning!!!!

AFM, it’s a rest day. Nothing exciting or interesting going on over here.

Wow great races everyone!!!

My 10K went better then expected. It was a weird set up, you had to pick your bib up that morning, well the line up was crazy so Mike got his while I took a pottie break but they wouldn't give him mine even though he had my reg form and I wrote on the bottom it was OK but they wouldn't so that was fine. I didn't have photo ID on me so I went without my bib. It was a really informal run anyways, no timing or anything but I did well and was under my time goal by a few mins so I am fine with that.

Have a great Tuesday all

Mike-WTG on your 8-miler! :goodvibes

Regina-I did them at the end of my workout...
You are Good! I do not have time to daydream...
I am usually trying to concentrate on form and reps. :lmao:
How did you determine the size for the Vibram shoes?
Everyones toes are so really different...

Vicky- are you running tomorrow with

Hi Team!

I'm back from the doctor and she gave me the okay to run. Said there really isn't much I can do for the pain, except if it's a lot worse before the race, she would consider giving me an injection. In the meantime, she is giving me some samples of a topical anti inflammatory, one in a patch, one as a cream, because I can't take NSAIDS orally due to problems with colitis.

So, I guess I will stick with working out and getting massages to keep the muscles stretched. Thinking about going back to my chiro for ART.

Today is a rest day for me. Going to my friend's house for Bible study, then might run a few errands. Have a great day everyone!

From Scott and me also!

Sue – glad to hear the weather cooperated for your week at the cabin! Great job on the duathlon! And what Margie said!

Margie – sure, come over any time to play with the toys!

Mike – good job on your 8 miler!

Mary – glad to hear there is nothing seriously wrong with your knee (it was your knee wasn’t it?), hope the topicals help you.

Kim – good job on your race!

The dogs and I did a 6 miler this morning, it was best walk since the fiasco of the 11 mile last week. Yesterday I did get in 45 min on the bike in the basement, and started a yoga for core tape - it was really hard, I did not make it farther than the "warmup"! But, I think I will like it if I keep it up. Tomorrow will not be much time for exercising - it is "Cheyenne Day" as part of "Cheyenne Frontier Days", and the folks in local and state government get part or all of the day off. We will start with the free pancake breakfast - it is practice for mass feeding in an emergency, and they get thousands of folks fed pancakes, ham, coffee and milk in a very short period of time. Then we will watch the Thunderbirds show later in the morning, then head down to Colorado for Scott's Dr.'s appointment, he has also made an appointment at the bike shop to order his bike, and I should be able to pick up mine (mine is an off the floor model, so it will just involve pedals, water bottle cage to set it up). We put it on lay away last time because we did not have the bike rack with us so could not bring it home. We should make it back home about dinner time.

Pixie dust to all who are in need!

Have a great day all!

Hi y'all.

I spent the night in Nashville so running behind a little today.

Paperwork is sitting at ex's lawyer's office so not sure when we will get closure to this.

PF is about 95% healed and I'm optimistic that I'll be completely recovered soon. I'll do a post about all that went into healing the Panda paw.

Happy Birthday Jon!!!

Everyone have a magical day.

Hi everyone!

Jon - Happy birthday!! Hope you're having a great day!

Dave - Sorry to hear about the slow paperwork. No one ever seems to be in a rush to finish paperwork but at least things are in the process of being wrapped up. Glad to hear that your PF is almost gone!

Lynn - WTG on the 6 miler! What's the name of the yoga DVD you're working on? Core work is always tough at first but the rewards are awesome - tighter abs, better posture and better overall support for your body. The pancake breakfast sounds like fun! I hope you don't have to eat them as fast as they're planning to serve them

Mary - Glad to hear you got the clearance to run from your doctor! Hope the ART and stretching help to get rid of the pain. Enjoy your day off today :)

Margie - Yep, I am planning to check them out tomorrow night. I'll post on Thursday as to how it went. Love your shout-out message to our missing team mates! Did you write that yourself :) It's sooo cute!!

Kim - Sounds really disorganized! I can't believe they wouldn't let Mike pick up your bib. There have been so many times, I've forgotten my email and they've just let me have the packet. Glad to hear that you beat your time! That's awesome! Did you register for Scotia yet?

Regina - I was at your pace when I started running two years ago so the speed will come naturally. Have you tried doing speedwork, sprint for a short interval - I usually go 0.25 miles and then go back to a walk or slow jog for another 0.25 miles. If you're running between 11:00-12:00 m/m, maybe try doing the sprints at 6.0 on the TM - that works out to a 10 m/m and see how you feel. They will be tough at first but they do work :)

Mike - Great 8 miler!! Wow that's a generous offer, especially since I such a shopaholic!! You never know what I might send to your house :) I have a friend I use to ship stuff to but he travels a lot now so I get nervous sending stuff to his house because it might sit on his porch for a long time. The prices for running gear (shoes especially) are so much cheaper in the US.

Sue - Congrats on your dualthon! I keep saying I gotta get me a bike and try out a race one day :) I didn't realize you could remove the pouch from the belt. My forearms don't usually brush against the bottles because my shoulders are always up by my ears  Bad habit really! To be honest, I can't even find a 4 bottle belt in small. I've been to the RR at Commerce Court and by my house - maybe everyone else has the same idea.

I also wanted to ask you since you go to the gym at lunch and workout, how do you cool down afterward? Last week, I took a cool shower but was still sweating a lot after the run. I think I was sweating all the way back to the office which really wasn't comfortable in office clothes. Any tips :)

AFM - Went to the gym last night but forgot my gloves. I have some nice callousus on my hand but that's okay because I don't have to hold anyone's hand  Don't think I'll be forgetting them next time. We did some deadlifting but didn't go as heavy (because of the gloves), weights and compound exercises. I want to try and fit in a massage this weekend but it's a holiday weekend and I don't think the RMT is around. No running at work this week because Speedy Gonzales is on vacation this week ... And that's it!

Have a great day everyone! :wave2:

Today I helped Nick move his parents pellets (for their pellet stove) into the house. We stacked two of three pallets (all three total 4 tons of pellets). Nick did most of the running and I did most of the stacking and figuring out how best to cram all the pellets in. Will probably do the last pallet tomorrow.

I got yelled at for helping. But, like Nick said, it needed to be done and people kept putting it off. So rather then having Mark hurt himself, we just did it.

oh my goodness, he is absolutly adorable!!!!

Vicky no I haven't registered for Scotia yet, I was actually thinking of doing the Good Life instead, since I have USAF on the 17th of Sept. However, regardless I will be going to the expo so hope we can hook up. I really wanted to PR USAF or Scotia but don't think it is going to happen so I will see how much new few long walks go and decide if I am going to do Scotia or give myself another month and do Good Life.

Lynn: WTG on the walks, you are really pounding out the pavement. Maybe time for another full ;)

Margie: How was the bike ride?

Better get going to work, it has sucked this week, but Monday is a civic holiday here so just keeping the eye on the prize

Have a great Wednesday all

Good Morning Team!

Kim, I'm with you. Was on vacation last week & I'm already anticipating the long weekend. We are off to Ottawa. Are you doing anything exciting?

Eva,

Vicky, I only had the 2nd gym membership last year when training for Goofy & used it more for weights. Didn't get as sweaty as running. Would have a quick cool shower then back to work to sweat at my desk. There doesn't seem to be any way around it. My face would be bright red for the rest of the day.

Lynn, Enjoy the pancakes & Thunderbirds. Sounds like fun.

Margie, Do you have all the kids today? Doing any thing exciting?

AFM, I made it official. I'm going Goofy again!
Took last night off to see The Sorcerer's Appentice(sp?). Tonight's weather will decide spin vs running.

Have a great day...........Sue
