I've been looking over the various swap threads and think that this is one of the neatest things! The generosity of people to participate in a swap is wonderful.
Is there a website or a thread or anywhere that I can go to learn about the different elements that are usually seen in the swaps?
I've never been involved in "organized scrapbooking" and don't recognise some of the terms. If another swap comes along, I want to be ready to jump in a grab a spot!
Thanks! :sunny:

Hello and welcome to this board!!
Swapping is a lot of fun-once you start you will be hooked!
The hostess is responsible for setting out details of the swap-what is to be made and by when and how many. Everyone sends there contribution into the hostess-they also include a self adressed return envelope.Once everyone has sent in their items the hostess "swaps" everything out-pops in the return envelope and sends it back to you. So if you are in a swap with 10 people, each of them will make 10 of one item, since eveyone is doing a different item you will send in 10 of the same and get back 10 different things! Clear as mud hey!
I have added the following link which does a very good job of explaining swapping!

Here are a couple of links that may help you. One by Tigger Fan (http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=214849&highlight=Swap) with a link to some of the goodies she received in a swap. Another by grover (http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=216406&highlight=Swap) ,with a link explaining the procedure and etiquette of swapping.

Thanks for the links and everything. A few last questions--
What is a topper and a nugget?
Is a journal box simply an decorative item to be used for journaling?
Thanks!

A topper is sort of a border that goes on the top of the page. It could contain a title. It usually is embellished in some way.
A nugget is an embellishment that is mounted on a 1 to 2 in square or rectangle piece of card stock. It's main function is to fill up an empty area and balance out your layout.
Hope this helps.
