Hello,
Qhat transportation is there from Narita that will take us DIRECTLY to the Tokyo Disneyland Resort area (we're staying at the Tokyo Disneyland Hotel). Are there buses like Disney's Magical Express at Orlando? Or even like the Disneyland Express Greyhound bus in California? Any unofficial shuttles that directly take you to TDL? Or is taking a taxi cab our only option?
Any other tips are welcomed! Also, since we aren't renting a car - we need transportation back to Narita, do any services have round-trips, or would we have to call in another taxi ride back?
Thank you!

We're planning our trip too, and these are some helpful things I've come across
For some reason the website I used is being *** out, but it suggests taking the "Limobus" (like a shuttle) from the airport to the resort area. Here's the link for that http://www.limousinebus.co.jp/en/bus_services/narita/tdr.html
Everything I've read suggests avoiding taxis in the Tokyo area because they are very expensive.

Your best choice is the Narita Airport Limousine Bus service. It runs from the airport to a large number of Tokyo hotels and attractions, including TDL and is a LOT cheaper than a taxi. The English version of its website can be found at http://www.limousinebus.co.jp/en.
We used this on the way back from TDL to the airport and had no problems apart from having to ask the driver to switch on the air conditioning as it was blazing hot on the day we went home!

The Tokyo Disney Resort's own web page on transportation to/from Narita is http://www.tokyodisneyresort.co.jp/tdr/english/plan/access/narita_bus.html.

Just keep in mind the limo bus doesn't operate past around 5pm. It would be terrible to count on it, only to find yourself stranded and without a backup plan.

I agree. Bus is best.

The last bus to the Disney resorts is at 5pm, but the bus runs until around 7pm to other hotels. Last year our flight got in too late for us to take the bus directly to Disney. I explained what I needed to the person at the bus ticket counter. She put us on a bus to the hotel nearest Disney and then had a taxi waiting at that hotel to take us on to Disney. It cost about $10 extra to do this, but it was well worth it.
You can take the train from the airport, but you have to change trains once to get to the Disneyland resort area. If you have bags it can be really tough.

Wow thank you for this information. That is excellent. Our flight options mostly will put us there after 5pm. So this is a really good news.
Does anybody know any other options except for a $200 taxi from NRT to TDL after 5?

One option is the Narita Express train to Tokyo station, and then the Keiyo line to Maihama (the station for Tokyo Disney). But the change of trains will not be a pleasant experience - the walk between the NEX platform and the Keiyo platform is almost a kilometer. (And don't get on one of the commuter express trains that runs during the evening rush hour, which bypass Maihama!)
Another option, but one that I haven't tried: Instead of the Narita Express, take a local train and get off at Funabashi, which is about 8 miles from TDL, and take a cab the rest of the way. But I don't know how easy it is to find a cab there (it usually isn't a problem finding one in central Tokyo, but Funabashi isn't known territory to me).

Thanks jsilvers.
That seems like a lot of work to get to TDL! :lmao:
I hope I can find a flight that'll get there before 5.

Have you thought of just staying at one of the airport hotels the day you arrive, then take the bus to TDR the next morning? If I can ever make it to TDR, this is what I intend to do. JMO

That really isn't a bad idea... I might have to really consider that option. Thank you! :thumbsup2

Besides the $200, is the taxi ride a bad choice then?
I know that is a crazy amount of $$$, $400 round trip. However, it is probably a rather seamless option? You could show up, go to taxi, and be there? No planning involved? Or do I not understand the taxis in Japan?
In other words, besides the cost, are taxis ok to use?
Many thanks!

Haha I did a report on this for my Japanese class. My best bet was catching a Limousine Bus to the resort. I know they go to all of the TDR resorts plus the surrounding good neighbor hotels (mine was the Hilton Tokyo Bay Hotel.) While it does take a while to get to the resort this way, the view will probably be worth it, and the busride is really inexpensive. :thumbsup2
I'm sooo jealous! I have always wanted to go to TDR. Maybe someday...

Taxis are the best way to travel from the airport if you can afford them.
