Short Solo Trip...What to do??

I am planning a short solo trip to WDW either in mid October or mid March. I think I would stay on site so I don't have to worrying about driving and all that stuff but am open to off site. I used two days last week to take a break from US/IofA and really liked AK so I would like to see that again but I have no idea what else to do? Is there something for solo peeps to do without getting all the pity faces and oh you're all alone talks? Any help would be awesome!

I like rides, shows and looking at stuff. ;)

What to do? Whatever you want! I went solo for the first time last Sept. and had a great time. I saw attractions that the family never wanted to see on previous trips. Eating solo at the Beirgarten was not much fun because of the group I sat with, however at Teppan Edo I hade great time with several families. I don't tell my family how much fun it was.

I would definately stay on-site when traveling alone. I do it all the time. No worry about renting a car; figuring out how to get around, etc.

I wouldn't worry about what others thought - I do Disney alone all the time and I love it. I sit at the bar for dinner and meet a lot of interesting people. I stand in line at the attractions and engage people in conversation. I go out of my way to have some "me" time. I stay eight days, so I have one day that I just hang out all day in the room or by the pool and just chill all by myself.

thanks for the tips I think October will be a better time to go less crowds I think? I think the POP is the best for my budget but it looks a little dumpy. Animal Kingdom looks good too but not sure if I can afford it ARRGGGG vacation planning is always so hard

As pp suggested go to www.orbitz.com and under hotels put in Walt Disney World. You can get AK for $144/night + taxes. There's also POR and POFQ for just $107/night + taxes.

Other choices are available so check it out and let us know what you get!

I frequently go into the park by my self. I find it great to get away and relax for a while. If I am not filming an episode of Discover Epcot I some times like to take a drawing pad with me and people watch and sketch. The nice thing about rides as a single or solo rider, often times you can cut the line and get through much more quickly. I hope this helps!

Those sound good too. I saw animal kingdom for 144 on the disney website but pop was only like 60 a night. I'll have to do some more investigating.

thanks for the tip. I didn't really see many single ride lines at WDW when I was there last. Wasn't looking very hard though either. I was really focused on HP over at US. They have single rider lines all over but that's another thread :cool2:

OK more questions. I saw the free dining offer is available until early October. If I go over labor day weekend and get free dining is that a better deal than waiting and going over October break (Oct. 11-15). Is the free dining a good value for a solo trip? Or is it better to try and get the cheap room rate i.e. animal kingdom for 144 a night?

Take Animal Kingdom for $144/night and you can add back in dining--what is it--41/night? You still come out ahead doing this over free dining. You have to buy a park ticket with this as well, but it saves more than getting free dining at rack rates.

I didn't know you could add the dining plan to that room rate. Do you do that when you get there or before? That sounds like a perfect scenario :banana:

Ok figured it out WOW I can stay at AKL with dining and ticket for 901 :goodvibes That is sooooooo good. I paid more than that off site when I visited US.

THis may be my only trip to the world and I want to see/do as much as I can. I fly in on a Thursday afternoon and leave Monday afternoon. Gives me three whole days for parks and two partial days for resort and relaxing.

AK - Everest has a single rider line....make sure to take use of that - the entrance is over by the store and not near the regular entrance. So, go ride the safari or dinosaur first. The Lion King is a GREAT show and one of my favorites. Nemo is ok, and as a single guest, you can get down front at the end of a row.

MK - I don't think there are any single rider lines here, but you will often hear calls for a single rider - listen up! Thunder Mtn is AWESOME to ride at night! Be sure to see Mickeys Philharmagic, a great 4D show.

DHS - RnR Coaster has a single rider line. I don't have trouble with ToT, but some due, depends on how sensitive you are. Be sure to go get your fast pass for Toy Story Mania first though!

Epcot - No single rider at Soarin', but be sure to get your fast pass. Test Track has a single rider line. Mission Space, take the orange side, less motion, but still a great ride. Check out Innoventions, lots of stuff to do and the CMs there love to talk to the guests! Stroll around the World Showcase and just take it all in!

Single rider lines are THE BOMB! Although I do like riding solo every once in awhile....
I do eat some veggies, but I am a meat and potatoes kinda girl! :cutie:

I'm going over labor day weekend to get the room discounts. More than likely I'll be staying at AKL but am still crunching numbers. :surfweb:
