On a casual dining evening (date yet to be determined), we are planning our own Mickey Mouse Club Night to make us very disguisable to other Magic guests and to one another! It’s also another great photo opportunity! So if you would like to participate, you can purchase your t-shirt(s) at either www.DisneyStore.com (http://www.disneystore.com/tees-mickey-mouse-club-you-design-it-tee-for-adults/p/1239031/305603/) or Zazzle.com (http://www.zazzle.com/mickey+mouse+club+tshirts).

There are variations of t-shirt styles that you can purchase (especially at Zazzle) for the whole family in a wide range of sizes. So choose your favorite style and don’t forget to personalize it with your name on the back in a LARGE font. Some DISers are choosing Impress as their font of choice, but feel free to use whatever you like best!

On a final note, pack your Ears if you have them to go with your MMC shirt!

Note that Zazzle DOES ship internationally, where DisneyStore does not.

DisneyStore.com (http://www.disneystore.com/disney/store/DSISearch?D=mickey+mouse+club&Dn=0&langId=-1&Nao=0&Ntk=All_Shopping&Nr=AND%28OR%28pStoreID%3A10051%2CpStoreID%3A10601% 2CpStoreID%3A10052%29%2CpPublished%3A1%29&catalogId=10002&Nu=pProductID&Ntt=mickey+mouse+club&Dx=mode+matchallpartial&storeId=10051&Ntx=mode+matchallpartial&Dr=AND%28OR%28pStoreID%3A10051%2CpStoreID%3A10601% 2CpStoreID%3A10052%29%2CpPublished%3A1%29&Ns=pGrossMargin|1||pSortName|0&N=0&categoryId=11776):

Zazzle.com (http://www.zazzle.com/mickey+mouse+club+tshirts):
One point to mention is that on Zazzle's site, they have two circular-looking graphic versions of the Mickey Mouse Club t-shirt. One looks like the one Todd posted (http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=36866226&postcount=3616), which is identical to the one on Disney's site, and Zazzle also has a second, a less dazzling one, that does not have the "Member" and "1956" reference. The screenprint is also different in color. So please make sure you select the correct one.

Savings Opportunities for Zazzle.com:

Cruise Banner (logo) for signature lines

Thar be many a crew asking me if they can be adding the cruise banner to there signature , And I figured I wouldnt keep it all to me onesies so here be three different sizes you can be adding to your signature line , Beware , those crewmates that dont be adding it could find themselves walking the plank come Sept 2010 ...Savvy ??

Instructions to add Banner to signature line Thanks Tia

Right click the size logo that you want and select properties. Copy the link then go to User CP and Edit Signature. Using the little yellow square (looks like a picture of mountains) above the signature box, paste the link that you copies from the photo properties. Make sure you don't get 2 http entries. Instead of using the yellow box, you can just type then paste the link and end with - no spaces in between the brackets and the link.

Where to get Adult Beverages before the cruise in Barcelona

Before the 2007 TA, we discovered the wine shop in El Corte Ingles, which is a department store located at the top of Las Ramblas. The wine department is on the lower level, in the grocery store. The selection is fabulous, and the prices incredible!

Barcelona Accommodations List

Color Coding Translation:

The first five columns are grouped into colors based on the specific location of a night's accommodations.
The Arrival Date column is color coded by date. This same color coding is used on the Inbound Barcelona Flight Schedule List for dates of arrival into Barcelona. This makes it easier to cross-reference for whatever coordination you want to work out with fellow DISers, if it be to meet up for ground transportation, dining, or whatever else comes to mind that's legal! :rotfl:

http://i196.photobucket.com/albums/aa55/Buckeye_Gal_OH/DCL%202010%20WB%20Trans-Atlantic/Hotel%20Roll%20Calls/HotelRollCalls0727Pt11040pm.jpg
http://i196.photobucket.com/albums/aa55/Buckeye_Gal_OH/DCL%202010%20WB%20Trans-Atlantic/Hotel%20Roll%20Calls/HotelRollCalls0727Pt21040pm.jpg

INBOUND BARCELONA FLIGHT SCHEDULES

Color Coding Translation:

Where applicable, the first five columns are color coded in groups of travelers who have close to or exact departure date/times at the same airport. In some cases, these DISers may be on the same flight, or at the very least, you will likely be at the airport at the same time. So if you are in the same terminal, you may want to hook up for a mini-DIS meets! :grouphug:
The Arriving Airport column only has coloring (of DIS green) for Barcelona. Used with the Arrival Date/Time fields, this will to help identify those who will be at the BCN airport around the same time.
Arrival Date and Arrival Time fields have a color that corresponds to the color of Arrival Date on the Barcelona Accommodations List. This is to more easily cross-reference who will be headed to the same place on the same day when you arrive to our embarkation city. :woohoo: Again, this is to help facilitate anyone wanting to coordinate ground transportation :car: or if they simply want to give a hello :wave2: down at Customs/baggage claim.

Secret Mickey

SECRET MICKEY IS NOW CLOSED

Welcome to the WBTA Secret Mickey:

This works along the same idea as a Secret Santa. Each participating stateroom will be matched with another stateroom, and the idea is to buy or make a gift or gifts, with a total cost per cabin of no more than $25. The gift (s) can be one big joint gift for all those in the stateroom, or small individual gifts for each person. The gifts can be left in the FE during the cruise, or you can have the room attendant put the gift in the room. You should have a tag/card that designates it as a gift from their Secret Mickey.

At the farewell lunch you can reveal yourself to your Secret Mickey recipient. If you do not plan to attend the lunch, it might be a good idea to reveal your identity by popping a card in your recipients fish towards the end of the cruise.

To enable me to match up the rooms, I will need the following information from each participating group:

1. name of participants
2. ages and genders of any children participating
3. DIS name
4. cabin number
5. each person's likes or preferences
6. each person's dislikes
7. any allergies
8. favourite Disney characters for each participant
9. hobbies or interests of each participant

This will help give the participants some idea of what they can incorporate into their gift.

Could you please PM TotallyAngelic with the information required.

There will have to be a closing date to give people time to think about and make / buy their gifts, and I think July 1st would be about right.

How the candy/chocolate swap works
Each player (or stateroom in some cases) will bring 1 small snack/treat sized candy/chocolate bar for each other member of their designated group.

For example, I am playing in 3 groups (2,3&4) so I need to bring 27 candy bars - 9 for each of the 3 groups I am in.

If you would like to play, please PM me with how many groups you want to be in and your stateroom number.

For those playing

Also for those playing, please confirm the following -
1) you still wish to play
2) that you are down for the right number of "groups"
3) your stateroom number if I don't have it noted

If anyone would like to be added to this list please PM. Basically it is a list of people who would like Disers to stop by if they get a second to help them out with something. This was suggested by Kimberley (Buckeye Gal) and is a way for people to remember the trip. Some previous uses were:

Signing personalised scrapbook pages for people
Marking maps for children so they can use them either in a school project or for scrapbooking

Sue (Su_kraft) -> after day 10

Scrapbooking Exchange

Sandi (Hoagie Pie) is organizing an exchange for the scrapbookers of the group! The idea is to give a scrapbooking embellishment for use in your scrapbooks after you return home!

Here are some answers to FAQs:

Deadline to sign-up is EOD July 16.
You don't have to spend a lot or any money towards this exchange.
The gift can be homemade, already in your scrapbooking inventory, or purchased.
Some ideas include page borders, journaling boxes, photo frames, titles for pages, and small embellishments.
Your gift can have a theme related to something you do on the ship (games, dining, pirating, etc.), our ports-of-call, cruising in general, Disney, or whatever else comes to mind.

If you have questions, contact Sandi (Hoagie Pie) (http://www.disboards.com/private.php?do=newpm&u=143626)!

The list of participants for the Scrapbooking Exchange is as follows:

(as of July 7)

1DisneyQueen - Dee (5628)
Bareacuda - Ann (8572)
birkner - Noel (8024)

Thank heavens!!! I was really freaking out. I can't stand to walk barefoot. I'm a huge germaphobe and the thought of walking in a filthy bathroom in socks was sending me over the edge. I can't walk barefoot from my own bed to my own bathroom. :goodvibes:goodvibes

I know and I love to walk everywhere in my bare feet:scared1: I know that just freaks you out. I just cannot stand to wear shoes. I only wear crocs so wearing sneakers on the plane will be very weird. Plus I am one that I will probably not take them off at all or my feet will be so swollen and I won't be able to put them back on. :goodvibes

I walk barefoot at home all the time. We don't wear shoes in the house at all. However, if I travel, I wear slippers in hotels, flip flops in showers and socks on an airplane. I don't want to catch any foot diseases from hotel carpets, showers or airplanes. Maybe it is just my perception or paranoia, but I have Princess and the Pea feet as well!!

Hi Everyone!

Just wanted to say hello and introduce myself (Lynne). My husband, Terry, and I will be on the TA cruise in Sept. We anticipate a great time, and can't believe how quickly it's approaching. Looking forward to getting to know everyone over the next couple of months, as we discuss the cruise. Have been in contact with Noel, and we will be joining you on the tour in Madeira.

This will be our 2nd Disney cruise, although we have cruised other lines several times. We are big fans of all things Disney, so are eagerly awaiting the TA on the Magic....especially since it's our first time in Europe!

Good grief you lot had me laughing regarding the socks and bathrooms. I can't believe what I started. I did just want to clarify that my original comment that the airline socks were for soaking up the urine was entirely tongue in cheek - obviously we always wear our shoes. Especially on a long haul flight of 10+ hours, the bathrooms can be a little icky towards the end.

My flight (Qantas) is also 33 hours + check in time. I'm flying, Christchurch->Sydney, Sydney->somewhere in Asia (probably Bangkok)->Heathrow->Barcelona - its classed as a direct flight ... with short stop overs (around 2 hours) at each location.

Robert is going with Singapore Airlines and leaves about 3 hours before me, he flies Christchurch->Singapore and has about 5 hours there then Singapore->Milan->Barcelona arriving about 3 hours before me. He is planning to make use of the Singapore airport outdoor pool to freshen up for the next leg of the journey.

In terms of what to wear on the flight, layers in natural fibres... it can be freezing cold or boiling hot, you can never tell. I take fresh underwear/socks with me to change part way - if I can't have a shower, at least a wash and partial change of clothing can help feel a bit more human. I'll be wearing light cotton pants, long sleeve tshirt and a light knit top probably. Footwear, as someone else mentioned will be slip on/off shoes - there isn't much room to move so something easily put on and off is good and slip on is great if feet/ankles swell up which they usually do after that long sitting.

I find a pashmina is great too - can be used as a shawl, pillow or to put over your head if the lights are too disrupting for sleep.

I also have music on my iPod which is quite possibly the most dull music on earth IMO (Elizabethan Lute Music) - it muffles the airline noise and I find, two tracks in, I doze off to sleep, wake up, its stopped, change position in my seat, hit play and the cycle continues. :rotfl:

I'll try to stay awake on my flights until I get onto the flight for Heathrow which will be approximately 3am I'm guessing. Then hopefully sleep through most of that one and doze to Barcelona.

Apologies in advance if you see me that first day we arrive as I will probably be zombie like...

I bought one for myself and friend on Ebay and got a few extra ones. They are silver but not sure what quality (probably poor as they were cheap ;) ) so if you are allergic to some metals probably best to pass this up.

I don't want/expect anything in return and its first in, first served so apologies if you miss out!

:welcome: to you all .... we are Sarah and Tony from North Wales.

SECRET MICKEY EXCHANGE

I was supposed to be closing the Secret Mickey exchange on July 1st but as you have only just joined us I will keep it open for just a few more days.

To enable me to match up the rooms, I will need the following information from each participating group:

1. name of participants
2. ages and genders of any children participating
3. DIS name
4. cabin number
5. each person's likes or preferences
6. each person's dislikes
7. any allergies
8. favourite Disney characters for each participant
9. hobbies or interests of each participant

This will help give the participants some idea of what they can incorporate into their gift.

Could you please PM TotallyAngelic with the information required.

There will have to be a closing date to give people time to think about and make / buy their gifts, and I think July 1st would be about right.

I find a pashmina is great too - can be used as a shawl, pillow or to put over your head if the lights are too disrupting for sleep.

I'll try to stay awake on my flights until I get onto the flight for Heathrow which will be approximately 3am I'm guessing. Then hopefully sleep through most of that one and doze to Barcelona.

Apologies in advance if you see me that first day we arrive as I will probably be zombie like...

I second the pashmina, has a multitude of uses! :thumbsup2

That is my plan too, stay awake for Brisbane to Singapore, sleep to London, awake to Barcelona. Well.....that's the plan anyhoo :confused3

You and me both, Zombie running on sugar and adrenaline! :thumbsup2

Hi there and welcome! :cheer2:

I know and I love to walk everywhere in my bare feet:scared1: I know that just freaks you out. I just cannot stand to wear shoes. I only wear crocs so wearing sneakers on the plane will be very weird. Plus I am one that I will probably not take them off at all or my feet will be so swollen and I won't be able to put them back on. :goodvibes

I have terrible trouble with my ankles and feet swelling, so will wear something easy onboard. :rolleyes1

Another barefoot princess here! :thumbsup2

Well my week has gone from worse to worse! Not only do I have the reaction (which thankfully now has completely cleared up - was starting to worry it was something else like Mumps or Glandular Fever but no!!!) but now the doctors have lost my blood test results and I need to go back and have more! I'm so annoyed! Incompitance! Initially they didn't even believe I had had tests but then they found the note on my records and are now blaming the hospital lab for loosing them!

Anyway trying to catch up from previous thread and this in one post:

Su_kraft -> Multiposts thing. Yes I always delete images unless commenting on specific ones even when doing single posts as it saves space.

tinker1bell -> I'm with you Terry on the bare feet thing, in fact I am sat in work with no shoes on right now having wandered down to our kitchen for some juice just 2 mins ago bare foot.

LUVSTHESUN -> Welcome! I think you just pushed the number of Lynne's over the number of Sarah's on this cruise. I'm one of the 4 Sarah's I think we have and I'm travelling with my other half Dan. This is my 6th cruise and Dan's first.

Travelling Clothes -> Jeans and trainers for me with a t-shirt as this is the heavest thing to pack lol.

Con5421 -> Lanyard Pins - meant to say before we might be interested depending on cost and design!

First Day Jet LAg -> Have to say me and my sister flew in on the red eye from Cardiff for the last TA (arriving at 11pm the ngiht before) Now we had worked all day - from 7am-3pm - then gone straight for the plane pretty much so were knackered. We had a 2 hour cuffule with the room - wrong keys, having to queue twice for new keys, wrong reservation number so king bed etc and got to bed about 3am. Weirdly the next day the thought of the cruise made us up by 8am and ready to go. Didn't stop until 10pm that night!

Terapin--Just a story about the Lasik, so same thing doesn't happen to you. A friend of mine was warned about the noise of the machine so she wouldn't be startled. She too had taken Valium and was practically asleep when they did the procedure. On her first eye, she was startled by the noise and this botched the procedure. The doc yelled at her for moving! She also said it was in a dentist like chair and she felt this contributed to her inability to keep her head still. She had the procedure redone, at their expense, a year later to correct the problem and they've told her she may need more re-dos in the future. So, you might want to ask them how they prevent the patient from moving their head during the procedure.

Couldn't find the link to this thread in the messages, but with this group I just checked the cruise meets page and sure enough this thread was on the first page. :cool1:

In terms of what to wear on the flight, layers in natural fibres... it can be freezing cold or boiling hot, you can never tell. I take fresh underwear/socks with me to change part way - if I can't have a shower, at least a wash and partial change of clothing can help feel a bit more human. I'll be wearing light cotton pants, long sleeve tshirt and a light knit top probably. Footwear, as someone else mentioned will be slip on/off shoes - there isn't much room to move so something easily put on and off is good and slip on is great if feet/ankles swell up which they usually do after that long sitting.

You had to bring up underwear in the new thread eh? :lmao:

I go to bed and wake up and we're on another thead! LOL!!

This may sound like a strange question, but has anybody ever traveled with a bottle (a big bottle) of hand sanitizer in their checked luggage? Whenever we go to WDW, we just pick it up after we arrive at WDW but I'm not sure if it is available in Spain. Thanks for any advice!

I see naps at the hotel in our future. :dance3: Total time in the air is only 13 hours, leave Portland, OR at 8 am and arrive in Barcelona at 8 am the next day. Thats only 15 hours travel time, with time change (Barcelona is 9 hours ahead of us, West Coast, USA) :woohoo:

Oh I just did the coolest thing!

I used google streets to get a 'walking' tour of our hotel and surrounding area! It was just being there (almost!). Really helped give me a visual of the area and what to expect! So amazingly, freaking cool!

I just googled "google streetview 27 rambla de catalunya" and there it was! We are staying at Hotel Praktik Ramblas.

Mom- I sent you an email link. Click on the arrows on the street to move forward down the street, and the directional arrows to move around the frame.

Thanks! The newest technology can move with your eyes and so apparently this flaw has been corrected. They said that while you should try to keep still, even if you didn't it would track perfectly. I dunno.

Thanks for the warning. I will try to stay zen but awake!

I haven't, but it shouldn't be a problem in checked luggage. Just put it in a ziplock bag in case it leaks.

For many, naps prolong jet lag, rather than reduce it.

Naps do tend to prolong the jet lag. Getting outside into the daylight and walking helps. and if you can don't nap or sleep until bedtime (or as near as you can get).

This works well unless you are traveling with very young children who will ALWAYS choose one hour after you have finally gotten to sleep to wake up want to play for the next four hours.

Oh and we've carried hand sanitiser in our checked luggage before and the ziplock bag trick seems to work.

ATTENTION ALL DANIEL TAXI MADEIRA TOUR CRUISERS

Just a quick update of some new information that I have added to the link on page one.

1. For those who like or are vegetarian, even if the restaurant doesn’t have any special vegetarian dishes, Eusébia says she is sure they’ll be more than happy to make a salad or even vegetables.

2. Eusébia has confirmed that it 1.25 Euros per person for the Porto Moniz pools. I do not know if they give a children's discount. If anyone is interested, please PM me.

3. Porto Moniz is an interesting little village, so even those people who aren’t interested in swimming, can spend some time having a look around or shopping, as there are souvenir shops as well.

4. If you haven't received a confirmation from Blandy's don't worry. Eusébia says they told her that, as the tour is in September, they’re not in a hurry to confirm. Let me know via PM if you don't hear from them in the next two weeks and she has volunteered to call them to confirm. All I would need to know is who has not been confirmed and how many persons in party.

Was just thinking about custom forms. I know when we travel to WDW from Toronto they ask the address we will be staying at. Do they ask the same thing when we get to Barcelona. If so what address do you put?

I must say when I read this board some things make me chuckle. Like a dry packing run in August. So you have a month to figure out how to get it is fit.

I must be honest I do start working on a list in August but only start packing say a week before. Guess I do not worry cause I have packing down to a science.

Had to because one crusie we drove our smart car down to Buffalo. Now in that car we had a travel scooter a large suitcase, a really fat garment bag, a knap sack, and a carry on, computer case.

On they way home that is when we had an issue. I bought so much stuff hubby actually had to by another lugguage bag. :lmao:

It was fine until we got off the airplane. To our car. Hubby unpacked the newest suitcase after all the original items were packed and stuff anything he could into any open space no matter how small. even under my legs at the front.

When got to customs and she laughed at us. She said I guess you can not fit much into that car and let us go. :lmao:

I guess she figured if they pulled us over to do a check it would take us days to put it all back in.:goodvibes

Are people participating in more than one FE group? Just noticing some double :)

I have also looked at the neighborhoods (lots of graffiti) and what people are wearing and I was supprised at the number of tourist with backpacks and women carrying purses :confused3(pickpockets field day)

Ohhhhhh nnnnnooooooooooo:scared1:, not my nap. I will have to reevaluate my plan and try to stay up during daylight hours. Maybe nap on day three.:rolleyes1

Happy Canada Day to all of our Northern neighbors!!

Are people participating in more than one FE group? Just noticing some double :)

Yes, there are a handful of people that waned to be in multiple groups.

And to you as well! I'm planning to chug a litre of maple syrup to celebrate, then ride my moose out to the pond, play a little hockey until it's time to ski for the afternoon! :rotfl:
...
Meanwhile, Happy (prospective) 4th of July to all Americans on board! Have a great (and safe) one on Sunday!

Chugging Maple syrup... hmmm...

Thanks! We have no plans, it is so hot that we won't try and do a full day out, but will probably go to the fireworks...

You had to bring up underwear in the new thread eh? :lmao:

Do I get a prize for being the first... trust me it could have been worse - those who are friends with me on FB may have read my status update from a couple of days ago :lmao:

I plan to fall asleep to Disney tunes on my ipod, on the overnight (8 hrs) flight to Barcelona. :cool1: We will be in Barcelona three days before the cruise, to give us time to sightsee and get over jet lag.

Thats one of the reasons we are arriving a couple of days early too.

We have them in the UK so I assume Europe has them too.

With all the bird flu/swine flu around, I'd be surprised if you couldn't get it everywhere. It should be ok in your checked luggage but I would double wrap in plastic bags or similar in case it leaks with the pressure.

For many, naps prolong jet lag, rather than reduce it.

Woody

I agree with this - we occasionally have a short nap (about an hour) on the first day we arrive after a really long trip - not so much to sleep but to simply lie down. Making sure to set an alarm, then out into bright sunlight for a walk is the best way to fix it then anything you can to try to stay awake until a "normal" bedtime - bound to wake up early too as your body is so out of whack so trying to "sleep in" is actually hard as you are rearing to go.

Was just thinking about custom forms. I know when we travel to WDW from Toronto they ask the address we will be staying at. Do they ask the same thing when we get to Barcelona. If so what address do you put?

If you are going straight to the ship, usually something like "transit to Disney Magic" or similar.

Are people participating in more than one FE group? Just noticing some double :)

Yes we are - we have enough gifts for about 100 cabins - so we are in 3 groups. :)

We have traveled with it - I just put it in a ziploc bag beforehand. It always arrived fine.

Ok, so now I officially give up trying to even skim every page. I have to skip about every 5 pages now otherwise it just takes up too much time...

We received Tristan's passport in the mail today, so we're all set there. I also ordered our Disney Rewards card so I don't forget about it later.

I had to stay at home today because Rosalynn was running a fever this morning, but she seems to be doing better now.

Hello all

So we've finally arrived at lucky number 7.... maybe we should start a sweepstake on what number board we'll be at by the time we cruise...

I GUESS... 11....

I went see Sisiter Act the musical yesterday in London, the music is by Alan Menkin.. so there is a Disney link ;) it's the second time i've seen it, it's quite different to the original film (which i love) and features all new music, It's such a great feel good show. You can help but to leave the theatre shaking you Roseary Beads :rotfl:

Happy Canada Day to all our Canadian friends!

We did this in the hire car when we drove from Las Vegas to LAX, I had to repack at the airport carpark! We had to remove nearly everything and stuff it in every nook and cranny in the car, we put the suitcases inside each other so they would fit. We had 8 suitcases, 4 cabin bags, a laptops bag and my handbag!!! I had quite a bit of linen though, so it wasn't too bad to repack. I also tend to pack things in smaller mesh bags to keep things together. Lucky we have magical express to the airport after our WDW stay this time! :thumbsup2

I'm also in the formal camp, like the other Lynne
2 long formal dresses and 2 semi formal cocktail dresses (one for Palos, one for the "real" semi-formal night). The other nights I am likely to wear nice dresses. I have a dress for Pirate night. :cutie:princess:;)
The other theme night, going on what I have read, is likely to be a "Villains" night. No dressing up, but a parade in the atrium of guests wearing masks "made" earlier in the day. There is a Villains show in the theatre, and presume a Villains menu? Thought maybe wearing black for that night? Am only guessing. Maybe others have different info?
DH will take his Tux, and a light weight plain lounge suit. He can wear the suit trousers on their own with a short sleeved shirt/Polo if he wishes!
daytime of course will be shorts/tops/sun frocks/cargos

But there are loads of Non Formal people on this thread, equally acceptable, so there really will be full range of Dis natty dressers on board. Anything will go! Well....maybe not beach wear...it would put us off our Mickey bars :lmao:

Is it too late to participate in things and where do I find them? OK so I posted on that other site, just got off the phone after 1 hr and 1/2 with AT&T. Got a wonderful girl to explain all my phone thing-ami-jiggers and understand now how the bill works. Also, how the data plan works. So as I posted elsewhere, come September, I will be playing

"Where in the world is Laura." :rotfl2:

Also, since I will be adding on the IDP (International Data Plan) and ITP (International Texting Plan) I will be able to pop on and off a bit more easily w/o worrying I'll be breaking the bank. :scratchin to think - it only took me about 5 trips to Europe to figure out how to work this dang thing to my advantage. Oh yeah, 5 trips to Europe, 4 trips through the PC and Caribbean, I may be slow but I'm worth the wait.

As for this weekend, guess I'm forced to go out of town. Depending on how Steve does, "April and I" will be back in town on Monday, unless I win the Megabucks, don't count on it but ya never know! ;)

I will probably be a zombie as I doubt I will be sleeping on the plane. I do not sleep in moving vehicles. I have spent more then 24 hours straight on a bus and not slept. I did not sleep on my flight to London and it was overnight.

Sleeping at the drop of a hat is not one of my fortes. Lots of meds that make most people sleep wind me up and it is not pretty. So I hesitate to take anything because I do not want to end up on the plane climbing the walls due to an adverse med effect.;) I still plan to get off the plane and be active until 8-9pm Spain time.

DISers on our plane I apologize advance for my lack of sleep on the plane.

Stephanie- You also had me giggling about your shoes. I despise wearing shoes and socks. I think it because I never find shoes that fit properly so they are uncomfortable.

Just make sure you hand sanitizer is well wrapped in plastic bags. If it has a flip top you may want to duct tape it closed.

No apologies necessary! We may be awake together! I've never been one to sleep well if at all on a plane, even in the big first class or business class seats (which we won't have this time.) I'm a side sleeper and can never get quite comfortable enough on a plane or train.

I do formal but cheat. I have one long black dress but two different jackets so that cuts down on space. Of course I wear different jewelry. Hubby brings one tux shirt and gets it cleaned on the ship and wears a vest one night and a bow tie and cumber bun the next night. Also he got his tux at a used clothing store. Saved a lot.

As for shoes I just bring one pair of dress shoes. To me none of my shoes show up in any pictures. Not like someone is ever going to remember what shoes I was wearing.

For pirate night we both have costumes but will not be bringing them. I got a great skirt that can be used for semi formal and for pirates. Just need to find a blouse to make it more pirate. I also have Mickey Mouse pirate ears :)

My hubby will probably just wear his dis transatlantic shirt. And maybe a pair a brown pants with a pirate sash. He does not like dressing up :)

If we are tight for space hubby will just wear his tux with a dress shirt and tie.

Theme night is mickey mouse club shirts and ears. I am not sure we are going to do this. If we do I will just buy cheap shirts and Wallmart and do iron ons :)

I bring less pants since I will only be wearing them for dinner but more shirts.

Remember you can do laundry on the ship. So that may help in deciding how much clothes you will need. And if in a pinch you can send your laundry to clean. They price by piece.

I do not get my hubby's tux clean and pressed before we leave since believe it or not is is cheap to have in done on ship. So I do not have to worry about is being wrinkled :)

Hope that helps.

Oh one of the formals is a prince and princess night so a bunch of dis people have decided to wear tiaras. Though it is not necessary :)

And to you as well! I'm planning to chug a litre of maple syrup to celebrate, then ride my moose out to the pond, play a little hockey until it's time to ski for the afternoon! :rotfl:

On second thought, maybe I'll just hoist a G&T to celebrate, eh?

It's a privilege to live in Canada, and one I truly appreciate!

Meanwhile, Happy (prospective) 4th of July to all Americans on board! Have a great (and safe) one on Sunday!

Well today in Ontario we are celebrating ( not):headache: the new HST)

You forgot to take a walk to the nearest Tim Hortons and ordering a double double :)

Or maybe for those in need of Chocolate a trip to Laura Secords yummy.

The Queen is in Canada and she said how please she is to see how much we have grown up as a nation :lmao:

We are only 143 year old a baby to many countries. But after the great Olympics we showed how enthusiastic and passionate we can be :)

Did you know our National Anthem only became our official National Anthem on July 1st 1980 yup though we have been singing it in English since 1908.

To make it more complicated the french and English version are totally different. :confused3

Ok back to cruise talk :)

Thanks for all the info on formal wear. I think we'll have to get it all out and see what fits!

Since we travel a lot, we have a luggage scale (the kind that you lift the suitcase with and it shows you the weight); that has saved us the extra fee a number of times. All my friends borrow it now--I was going on a girls's weekend once where my two friends's cases were overweight and they were pulling things out of theirs and into mine at the airline counter! :scared1:

Hi. DD and I signed up at the beginning and had to cancel. I re-booked it the other day. Last Wednesday, the 23rd, I had to have emergency eye surgery for a detached retina. Because of the procedure used, the nurses in the OR said September 16 might be too early to be allowed to fly. :confused3 Anyway, I don't know where to even begin to start reading and catching up on everything. Is it too late to participate in things and where do I find them? Please everyone, I need lots of Piixie Dust because I go to my doctor on Tuesday and hoping he'll tell me I can join everyone and be allowed to fly. Would love to see my old friends again. Actually, would love to 'see' better.

Forgive me if you've all covered this before but I'm just beginning to think about clothes for the trip...We like to get dressed up but the stringent weight limits on luggage :scared1: have us wondering:

Will there be one or two formal nights?

Are any of the men bringing tuxedos?

How "formal" are you all thinking?

Also, I know there will be a "pirate" night, but did I see something about another "theme" night?

Thanks.

Andrea

Hi ... I will be bringing 2 formal dresses (long) and 2 semi-formals (1 for SF night and 1 for Palo, although if weight is tight I may wear the same one for both) DH will wear the same tux for both formals and wearthe tux pants for semi formal with a normal shirt and tie. We will both be bringing pirate costumes. pirate:pirate:pirate:

For us, formal will be tidy pants and shirt/nice top. We are not "dress up" type people. We may even do Topsiders for dinner on one of the formal nights.

Welcome back and I hope everything goes well for your eyes. See the first couple of pages of this thread for joining in activities.

I've thought about popping a pill to help with sleeping on longer flights but does anyone know if it would increase your risk of DVT? Just thinking if you went into a deeper than normal sleep, then you might not move so much?

On day 5 of the EBTA (a sea day), the stage show was Villians Tonight.

In the Voyage Navigator (the 14-night schedule), the evening attire was listed as "Semi-Formal." But on the Personal Navigator that day, the evening attire was listed as "Cruise Casual." At 10:15 pm, there was a masquerade ball in the lobby atrium.

OK so a few people have asked how the postcard exchange is going to work.

The idea is that people buy postcards of their area/country/town/city etc and deliver a postcard to each person on the list. They don't need to be written on or anything but I'm sure people would like to have something on there to let them know who it was off. If people do want to write a little note on their about their country or town then thats OK too.

So far we have around 15 people taking part and you don't have to be in the Fish Extender Exchange to join in - but please let me know if you don't have an FE as then I can make a note on the list so people know not to expect one and can place the cards directly in the Fish Holder (they are built to hold letters etc anyway).

If anyone would like to take part that isn't on the list let me know. Currently we have:

- Gismo1554
- cruzdirectorkaren
- steamboat will
- Mrs Mork
- birkner
- pilk
- yukongirl123 (Trevor)
- Witherbark
- Bareacuda
- Disney Sweetie
- Buckeye Gal
- TheDisneyGirl02
- roseburghughes
- Sparky47 (no FE)

Thinking back to last year I thought they needed tux orders 2 weeks prior to sailing. I just checkted their website and they say "Some cruises require orders to be placed at least two weeks prior to sailing. Please refer to the Frequently Asked Questions section of this web site for additional details." I looked in the FAQ section adn we are in the 2 weeks prior category "Some cruises require rental orders be placed at least two weeks prior to sailing (South America, Europe and other exotic or repositioning cruises)."

They don't offer nearly as much selection for the non PC sailings - you can ony get the black jacket. Shame that you cant get the black and white or a 2nd color cummerbun...

Good morning (or afternoon) to everyone. I hope our cruisers who have been under the weather are feeling better.

We've been so lucky the last 3 days. After over 2 weeks of 90+ weather, we've had a break (although the heat is coming back soon). The last several nights have been in the 50s! That makes for wonderful sleeping conditions :thumbsup2 .

I'm in awe of all of you who are planning on bringing your beautiful dress-up clothes (the pics of those 2 dresses are gorgeous, btw; personally would go w/the straps since the "girls" need some support, iykwim). DH is still not wanting to bring any kind of formal wear, so I guess we'll be doing Topsiders like Paula (hey Paula, want company?).

Questions for anyone who has used Disney before for their travel: I am assuming we'll be doing an overnight flight, so any idea what time we'll be arriving in Barcelona? Will there be time for some touring? Is that even a good idea? TIA.

Good Morning everyone. Hope you don't mind another last minute joiner. Yesterday we found this great deal on this cruise and decided we couldn't pass up the opportunity. I booked my cabin and air ticket. Now I'm in a panic. HELP

We are coming in to Barcelona on the 14th and need help deciding where to stay and what to do. We have traveled in the US and on Disney cruises but never Europe and we don't speak anything but English. Disney lovers are the best so I feel ok reaching out for your help and asking you to share your knowledge with us.

Look forward to meeting all of you and sharing the excitement of planning for this cruise. Oh, we live in San Francisco so if any of you are coming to the west coast when the Wonder is here next year we would be happy to share info about our side of the country. We just came back from an Alaska cruise and have learned so much about that beautiful state.

Bob & Val

Welcome Bob and Val!!! If you read the first two pages of this thread, you will learn so much including where to stay in Spain. We don't get into Barcelona until the morning the ship leaves so cannot help there but everybody on here has been wonderful. It will be a fun cruise!

Hi guys welcome! Don't worry too much. Plenty of time to get things sorted.

As for Europe, most of Barcelona speak English so no need to worry too much.

I'm Sarah and I'm travelling with my partner Dan. Its my 6th cruise and his first so this should be fun. We're from South Wales in the UK and are flying in on the 17th

Welcome aboard!! We are Noel and John and also live in SF Bay area as you can see from my siggy. Check out the first page of this thread for all the fun things we are planing for this cruise. We also have a website www.transatlanticpirates.com where you sign up and see other DISers. I am organizing a private tour in Maderia, for example.

DH was in Barcelona in Feb and says no problem with not speaking Spanish or Catalan. Many people speak English and he had no problems.

If you look on the first page, you will see where many people are staying to give you some hotel tips. We fly into Frankfort on Sept 14 and arrive in Barcelona on the 15th.

Love to hear all about your Alaskan cruise!!

As far as formal wear, I'll be wearing the same dress for formal night, semi-formal and Palo. I'm not the dress up type and only own one dress! DH will just bring his suit for all three, also. Less luggage space needed!

DS12 has grown almost 3 inches since our December cruise, so I have to see how his suit fits. I think I'd better wait until August, though. He seems to be growing by the minute. Now, if he would only gain some weight. He is 5' 2 1/2" and weighs 78#. I keep trying to donate my extra weight to him but it's not working!:rotfl:

DS10 has grown a few inches, too. So, I might be buying 2 suits. I'm going to have to put that on my cruise to-do list.

Hello again all! I haven't posted much but have been following along eagerly. Best wishes to all who have been under the weather for a speedy and complete recovery.

Thanks to those who caught the military rate discounts coming out. I wasn't sure if we could get it since we booked through USAA, but called this morning anyway. I figured what was the worst that would happen; I'd just be in exactly the same spot I was before. So I called and (drum roll, please) managed to save over $1500. DH was thrilled.

Anyway, I hope to be able to post more, but I am lurking.

Sarah, DH (Greg) and I (Erica) will be celebrating our first anniversary (9/5, but celebrating on the cruise).

For anyone participating who does not have a FE, how do we deliver postcard?

Welcome Aboard. I'm right across the bay from you, over in the East Bay.

I've found when traveling that most people are very willing to help, even if they don't speak English. They will try their best to interpret with my limited Spanish and hand gestures.

Sarah, as for the date of the Mini Navigator, you might consider waiting until after the cabins assignments are finalized. I'm not sure if DCL will have final cabin assignments done 30-days before sailing.

On the EBTA, there were numerous cabin changes -- GTY cabins were assigned, and DCL upgraded some families.

If we wait until after the cabin changes, it would make it easier for the FE exchange, Secret Mickey and other activities.

My two cents.

As far as the lists, just PM the person who posted on the first page of the thread.

Secret Mickey exchange is closing this weekend according to Totally Angelic(Sarah). I think most activities are on posted on the first page but one that is not is the postcard exchange which Gismo1554 (Sarah) is organizing.

It is easy enough to convert a word file from win 7 to a PDF, it took me about 1 minute. I personally would like to look at the Navigator sooner than later. People may want to add things before the cruise or changes may be made, but you don't have to print it out until the final version.

That is a big "May" Not sure what you typically wear to dinner, be we always wear clothes that are clean and serviceable. I figure that is good enough.:thumbsup2

I agree as well. Wear what ever floats your boat!!

Let me tell you a funny story about formal wear. We were invited to a reunion which my husband told me was formal. So off we go, me in a long formal gown, mink coat, hubby in tux etc,. dressed to the nines.

Turns out IT WAS A BAR-B-QUE!! What did we do? We just laughed all with the rest of our friends at ourselves, dug into the ribs and had a great time!!

I don't think clothes make the person. I like to dress up but if some don't, who cares? If I am paying the freight, my family dresses up, like the old adage, he who has the gold makes the rules. I try to listen first to what the person says about themselves and about others. I use that criteria to make friends and I probably make enemies the same way.

Disney is not making it a requirement as it once was on cruises. It is not like it once was where you would be denied entrance to the dining room if the head waiter felt you were not in "proper" attire. If Disney doesn't enforce a formal dress code, who am I to say what you wear?

Since you are not going to be told you can't come into the dining room, don't worry about it!! Have fun and join us!!

My only concern is do you think people would come by and randomly change numbers? I guess I could follow up and call people to be sure??:confused3

Let me know.

Oh yes they might but I'm sure not that many people would would they? Most people are good at it and if we say all room changes need to be noted on the first day then we should be able to see if someone comes along and alters it later?

Ok... Thanks Noel and Sarah for the tips about leggings. I thought about it, and did find a cute outfit that would be real travel/ wrinkle retardant.
Agreed! I hadn't been thinking in this direction but this covers the comfort and cold issues! :thumbsup2

:scared1: AIGH! Never heard this one before! Will have to keep in mind because I do want to have this procedure done eventually...

Thanks for this! This is our hotel also and I had never thought to go look here to see what it would look like!

Laura, what type of phone do you have? I need a new phone but even with an international add-on-plan I know you need a phone that will work in Europe so I'm looking for suggestions...

we will be celebrating DS, Trevoy's 15th birthday, which is actually Sept 6, but I've asked Disney for a cake on the 19th

You are such an upbeat, positive person. Your family and DH are very lucky!!
I hope your DH finds a new position really soon!!

I too like the bowl of strawberries idea for a celebration!! I am going to remember that for the cruise.

It is easy enough to convert a word file from win 7 to a PDF, it took me about 1 minute. I personally would like to look at the Navigator sooner than later. People may want to add things before the cruise or changes may be made, but you don't have to print it out until the final version.

Just my thoughts...

:surfweb:

I think its being converted into a booklet pdf so not sure whether this takes longer as I'm not doing this bit of it. Im happy to send the word version out to anyone that wants it early anyway and assuming it doesn't take long to do what I was thinking was releasing an initial version in early August then I can keep updating as we go until nearer the time - probably 2 weeks before so people who are flying in can get it.

Anyone who is flying in earlier I'm happy to bring some extras with me and I'm hoping someone else will offer to do the same (incase I either forget or they get damaged on the way)

I asked this question over on the thread for the September 8 Med Cruise, but since that thread is moving so much slower I thought I would post it here instead:

For those of you doing the back-to-back, would it be possible to put together a mini-version of this spreadsheet so we would know who is coming in when and where they are staying? Not that we won't have enough time in 24 nights to get to know each other, but just in case we want to combine resources in Barcelona for tours, travel to the port, etc.

I am not thinking super formal. As I already did on our other cruises.

I want to pack veeeery light. And even consider only packing for about one week and then use the washing machines.

But I came up with this idea of buying me a "Dirndl" for one of the formal nights. A typical Bavarian dress...

I am jealous. I put a call into my TA, she sent me an email saying she was gonna check, but have not heard a word back. Guess I will shoot her a reminder.

Hence one of the reasons I do not like using a TA. I am a bit of a control freak and when you surrender control to someone else this is what happens.:headache:

I am a control freak too, but have had great luck using Tracy from DU. When I saw the military rates come out, I emailed her that evening (around midnight), and she had us rebooked at the military rates by noon the next day. We'd previously discussed her looking out for the rates for us, but a) as a self-proclaimed control freak, I was checking myself every day for months; and b) they weren't published on the DCL website as available until the following Monday, so we ended up finding them before she had the chance to find them for us. I think our folks went from a 5 to a 6 and saved over half of the original cruise price, and we upgraded from 10 to 6 and still saved almost $1000 more.

On the EBTA, we had one centrally located dry erase board for cabin changes and other announcements. Cabin changes were noted:
NAME . . . . . CABIN
Mickey 123 - xxxx
Donald NY - xxxx
Goofy abc - xxxx

Unfortunately, some other cruisers (either accidentally or on purpose) smudged the information. This happened often.

We found it was better to have the cabin changes on a sheet of paper (held with a magnetic clip).

I suggest not posting a copy of the Excel spreadsheet (the full cabin list) on a cabin door. That information should kept within the DIS group.

On our WBTA, people could note their information and groups as follows:
NAME . . . . . CABIN . . . . . GROUPS
Mickey 123 - xxxx - Kiwi Group
Donald NY - xxxx - Postcard Exchange
Goofy abc - xxxx - Kiwi Group, Secret Mickey

My two cents.

All I know is that DH has told me that as long as you have the fully licensed Adobe package that allows one to create PDF's, He says it is relatively easy to convert to a booklet PDF if you know what buttons to push, even the Word document is up to 50 pages. He has done both manually and with Adobe many times for DD's school auction programs.

DH will probably convert our cruise plans stuff when we are finally done into a PDF file so we can view it offline on computer so we don't have to print it.

I agree with Woody, I don't think I would want my cabin number posted for all to see that is not dis. What about if the person that has their cabin changed or upgraded, takes charge of their cabin and informs the people that need informing, FE list, secret Mickey, tastings, etc. That way you are responsible for yourself instead of someone that has 100 names be responsible for everybody. It might be easier!

As for the posting changes, I am up to doing whatever people want to do about making the changes.

Perhaps, if someone had a change, they could call my stateroom, leave a message and I could forward to the appropriate person in charge. I think this would probably work as most changes would be mostly likely in the the first few days.

I leave it to the event organizers to decide how they want to organize posting or not the changes once we are aboard.

Alfred Hitchcock! I remember that movie. I got attacked by a bird once and I just flapped my arms around my head area and it flew away. It was very scary - it sounds funny, but it does happen. Mine was just a little bird and I think it was sick. After I went into the house, it committed suicide by diving into my glass patio door trying to come after me. I had nightmares for a few days! I am not a bird fan.

Wow, Sept 6 and almost the same name. My son does get called Trevor a lot though as hardly anyone has ever heard the name Trevoy.

You can have DCL put it on your reservation now and/or tell your server or head waiter once you are on board. They will bring a small cake after dinner on the night you choose.

I am glad to know. Just wanted to be sure you had the right tools. Sounds like you are all checked out.

It was fun to look for a program that would do the job. I have learned a new skill and get to help out Sarah and the cruise group too. I was feeling lazy because I wasn't doing anything for the group and now I get help out in a small way. :surfweb: :flower3: :thumbsup2

OK...I've been off the boards for the week and I had over 40 pages on Thread #6 and 16 here to catch up on (plus all the other threads I follow...yipes!!). I have skimmed (and I do mean SKIM) all the pages. I am back now and will get back into posting in the next several hours.

I know some people have emailed and PMed me with updates for the lanyard list or to request lanyards for the trip. I will be getting to all those emails and PMs in the next several hours, too!

Had to finish catching up first now we have to find something to eat and I have to rest my poor eyes!!! :lmao:

I personally would like to look at the Navigator sooner than later. People may want to add things before the cruise or changes may be made, but you don't have to print it out until the final version.

I agree.

Thank you for responding. My concern is that they might be "misappropriated" like sometimes happens with magnets or FE gifts.

Can you slip a postcard under the door? Or is it too tight a fit?

I think a badminton racket would be better to hit a birdie.

I want to pack veeeery light. And even consider only packing for about one week and then use the washing machines.
But I came up with this idea of buying me a "Dirndl" for one of the formal nights. A typical Bavarian dress...You guys know what I mean?
So, maaaaybe. I'll :hippie:do that.

I don't care much for birds either, now even less than before. I know it sounds really weird, but it wasn't a fun experience.

I completely agree re using a TA versus doing everything yourself. We had the opportunity to use points/get points on the credit card using USAA, so that was the most economical. They were fantastic to work with, though, with doing the discount.

Connie, if I tell Ann Chuck isn't bringing a suit, do you think I can leave mine behind?

Albert
