I'm deleting my post, we have changed our plans. I really want to do a DCL one day, but Carnival announced they are going to homeport their new ship - the Magic - in Galveston. It is just too close/convenient to pass up trying. So we are switching cruises.

Hi all - just booked this cruise as a B2B with the 12/18 date. We were originally booked for the Spring Break week, but December is looking much better for us than March.

We'll be a family of: me (40), DH Scott (41), DD (14), and grandma Pauline, who will be celebrating her 70th birthday on the ship.

This is our second Disney cruise...the first was this last March, 7 night Western on the Magic. We loved it so much we rebooked another date onboard.

So looking forward to spending the holiday with Mickey!

My Mom announced that she was taking the family on the Christmas Cruise 2011 as part of our Christmas present for this year. She gave us the same awesome present 8 years ago on the Wonder. There will be seven of us sailing ages 21 years and up....We are in balcony rooms, category 6. My Mom is the BEST:banana:

My husband and I will be celebrating our 25th Wedding Anniversary on the Feb. 27 Dream Cruise. Two Dream Cruises in one year will be AMAZING!!!

My husband and I love to travel and scuba dive. We spend a lot of vacation time out west hiking, fishing, and four-wheeling. I work for local government in Emergency Management and my husband is a Forester.

Jumping in on this thread! We are booked on this cruise and so excited. This will be our first cruise ever! :goodvibes

I am excited to see there are a couple families with teenage girls! We are cruising with another family (I am surprised she has not posted yet!) and our boys will hang out together but my 13 year old daughter will be by herself. She very easily makes friends so I am hoping she can hook up with some girls and enjoy time with them.

Our group is Me, DH, DS (18), DS (16), and DD (13). We are looking forward to Christmas with Mickey!!!:cool1:

Hi Everyone! I am so glad to have found this thread! We have booked our cruise to escape the same ole same ole family obligations and drama that bore us year after year! I am Karen, my husband is Robert, we are from Burlington, NC. We have booked a separate cabin 6 decks away for our sons who are (Sean) 24 and (Patrick) 17, to keep then occupied and keep them out of our hair, we are bringing Seans fiance and Patricks girlfriend. We have chosen not to tell them about the trip, but we are dropping clues to keep them guessing. The first clue was "South, Sun, Water" Trying to think of other clues without giving it away. I read about the fish extenders and that makes me laugh, so that might be the next clue. :rotfl: This is our first Disney cruise and I am concerned that the teenagers will be bored. Look forward to reading more posts as we get closer to Christmas! :santa:

Sounds like you're having as much fun preparing as it will be to go. If your sons are as computer friendly as young people are now days, they'll search for "fish extenders". See you there.

My 5 year old is a girl, and my little boy is turning 4 in May so he will be closer to 4.5 at the time of the cruise. Yep we are the same we are so excited about the cruise but it's the look on the kids faces that we are looking foward too. I will keep intouch and maybe we can catch up on the ship and maybe organise a little gift exchange. My daughter wants to bring little Australian treats to give other little kids for christmas. She is so excited about this trip.

Just seems like yesterday that I booked our cruise and it seemed soooooo far away till Christmas and now its July! I have been dropping hints to my sons and their girlfriends (ages 17 and 24) I gave them large Mickey duffles with their names on it, gave them the sun, water, south clue, and Dream. I left the AAA magazine with the cover being about the Dream in the bathroom. In August I'll give them Mickey PJ's and I'll finally tell them in September. In the midst of all this vacation planning, I am now planning for my oldest sons wedding next year. Did I mention I am fast on my way to being dead dog broke? I'm gonna have to pass the hat for cocktails on the ship at this rate! I like the pictures Jen! When I figure to add them, I'll post some of my crew.

We are booked on the 12/22 Dream Cruise. There will be 15 of us from Illinois traveling down to enjoy time in the sun! The trip is a Christmas present from my parents. (Love them!) We will have 7 kiddos with us. (dd-11, ds-8 and 5 nephews- 9, 7,7, 3,3) 10 of us are going to Disney before and after the cruise for a few days. I'm wondering what other people are doing about Santa/stockings for kids. Are you bringing gifts onboard or waiting till you get home? :santa:

Hey there... glad I found this thread! Myself, my sister and my two DS (13 and 6) will be joining you all on board. We are keeping it a complete surprise from the boys... going to Disney for a few days before and not telling them until we are on the road heading to the port... I cannot wait!!! :yay: We will also be staying a few days at Disney post-cruise.

This is something that I have been wondering as well... I feel like I should hang stockings, or set up a little table top tree, at least. I would like to bring some small gifts onboard for Christmas morning, because although my oldest probably wouldn't care, my little one would be absolutely crushed if Santa didn't pay him a visit, even while at sea!!! :santa:

My Family will be on the cruise for the holiday! DH, myself, and two DDs - ages 13 and 5. They do not know, and I hope to keep it that way until we board the DCL transit from WDW on the 22nd. We fly in on the 21st and plan to visit Downtown Disney. We fly back home after we disembark. For Christmas morning, I'll bring the kid's stockings with some treats/small presents...with the main gift being the cruise experience.

We have never been on a cruise, and I should confess that I am a little nervous about the cruise. .....All that water..... Anyway, the cruise was my idea (try something new) and we are celebrating a milestone that we (DH and I) reached in May.

As for Disney, I've not been since the early 70's when I was very young and the kids and husband have never been to Disney.

For just 2 adults, there were only 2 types of rooms available..... I know this is cheesy to check but it is fun!! We all are the lucky ones who will be able to cruise the Dream for Christmas (and my daughters 8th birthday!!!!).

Well are we all doing the double digits dance :cool1::yay::woohoo::cheer2::dancer:

We are and everytime I think about our cruise I start to shake with excitment. :goodvibes

Now I had promised my family a party for our 100 day mile stone however I just started a new business selling little petti skirts and other cute clothes I named the business Calliope's Closet after my daughter you can search me on facebook if you like. Anyway being busy everyday time just flew past and we have not managed to have our 100 day party. :sad2: Not to worry I am sure we will make up for it when we get to WDW and the cruise.

Has anyone joined a FE yet or heard of one ?? :confused3 Has anyone on this page ever been part of one or would like to organise it?? I am happy to help out and I have been stalking a few pages so I think we can organise one with out too much trouble. I read that most FE finalise their numbers about 6 weeks from Sail date so we don't have long.

If there is an exchange going I would love for my family to be part of it as we love giving and receiving suprises but if not I am happy to organise one. :) :lovestruc

Please let me know what everyone's ideas on this are.

I'm interested in participating. Never participated in one, so I am unsure about organizing it. I think that in the next few weeks as school routines and schedules settle in and thoughts turn to the holidays, we will see more interest in Fish Extenders/ exchange. I'm looing forward to it! :santa:

the Passporters discussion board (different site) has a recent discussion about Fish Extenders and that DCL may not allow them at some point in the future - stuff in the hallways, etc. This was NOT an official statement by DCL, and it was mentioned to one cruiser by a cast member on a recent cruise. So, we will see what happens. I can only imagine that people will do exchanges in some way, and to not allow FE's would probably create more variety in where things are left, etc. I hope that there is enough interest for the 12/22/11 cruise! :santa:

To Dream Dec 22, 2011 Fellow Cruisers: If you are interested in joining in a Fish Extender Exchange, here is a google link to a spreadsheet that you can enter your information into: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AgtyyoONP2R1dFA0cHhra1VLYklGRzN0Z0pRaEx3V Xc&hl=en_US

Since an FE exchange is meant to be fun - don't stress about it! Can't make a special FE? buy some small fabric bags at the craft store and connect them with ribbon or buy a small hanging organizer. Make sure that the entire thing is no wider than 8 inches. Worried about size and weight and packing? don't worry - think "thin" and "light" - paper, photos, candy, maps, etc, etc, fit the bill. Not crafty? that's OK and if you want to do something crafty, this may be perfect for your friend/relative/co-worker who is crafty and just needs an outlet (your FE exchange).

Hi all,

I'm new to the FE thing, does the Dream still have the same fish clip as the Wonder and Magic? Are the gifts given per family, or per individual listed? I'm also assuming that we just give one gift during the exchange, and we're told which day to deliver? OK, can you tell I've never done this before? :goodvibes It looks like so much fun, and I know the kids'll get a kick out of finding goodies, especially since this is the holiday cruise!!

I just added our details to the spreadsheet, I forget our cabin number so will add that later. The spread sheet looks like a great way to keep track of our members. Thanks Trysomething New I think this is going to be lots of fun. As we are Ausies would it be ok for us to give out Australian treats as well as christmas goodies ?? Do most people do cruise or disney theme gifts??? :santa:

We leave for America on the 5th of December and will be staying at WDW for 14 days prior to out cruise so I am hoping to collect some last minute treats during out stay. Therefore I was wondering if we could close off the details of the exchange about the 5th of November so that we have plenty of time to make our gifts.

Have a great day Jen :hippie:

Hi Fellow cruisers! Thanks for signing up for the FE. I propose we end the sign up on Nov 7th, since that is a Monday and I'll bet most people browse the web and forums (like this one) more readily on the weekend. Good idea on the end date - I was concerned about very last minute additions which makes for hectic preparations. For me, I have to do all this in secret as the kids know nothing about this trip!

Yes, I think we need an end date I would hate anyone to miss out or be left out at least we will know exact numbers.

I was also thinking we need to do an introduction to our families just to ensure that we cover such things as allergies - health issues what kids can or can not eat. My kids are fine with everything but I would hate to make a little person or a big person sick on this cruise so please highlight these important things in RED. Privacy respected :)

Life get so busy, I dont know if I would have time to prepare any "last minute" additions. So, whoever had that idea, I truely thank you!! This cruise will be stressful enough I am afraid, one less item to stress over is wonderful. I think my biggest worry is making our flight out of Minnesota with the great winter wonderland and our lovely snow up here!! and yes, we are leaving a few days early just to plan for flight delays...... AHHHHH!!! {happy thoughts of the Dream,:wizard: happy thoughts of the Dream.....}

Hopefully I can keep a secret. My 13yo DD doesn't always catch on, but when she does, she doesn't say anything until later, so it is hard to tell. The little one won't catch on - "cruise" isn't in her vocabulary....yet.

Good idea! I have a spot on the spreadsheet for allergies, so this is one place to add the info. I have an allergy to gluten (in wheat, barley, rye) so those things are present in a lot of places (most commonly found places: all-purpose or wheat flour, soy sauce - because most soy sauces are fermented with wheat- and "malt" such as flavorings in candy and cereal... and of course, beer).

Happy sewing...crafting...idea generating...buying....to all fellow crusiers and FE participants!

Already posted this on the 12/18 thread, but if any of your teen kids would like to connect with DD Megan (14) before the cruise, PM me! On our first DCL cruise last year, we connected with another family and it was nice for Megan to have a friend before we even boarded the ship.

We were considering the Shallow Water Dolphin Excursion with Atlantis Waterpark since it was the only dolphin interaction that our youngest son (5) could do with us. But for all six of us (me, DH, DD - 14, DD - 13, DD - 10, DS - 5) it will be expensive. Is it worth it or should we just explore the beach or maybe play on the ship?:confused3

I definitely have to second that one! If you are going to Atlantis for the dolphin swim, and see the waterpark, you're not going to want to leave. The other option is to split up (although I know it's hard to do), but if either you or your husband stays with your little one, and the other goes with the two older kids to the dolphin swim and then meets up later at the waterpark together, that's another option. I think you could be observers at the dolphin swim, but don't have to pay, just sign up for the Aquaventure.

the space at the side of the door is about 9 inches wide. A little bit narrower than the Wonder/Magic...interestingly there are 3 different "fish"....there are fish on one side of the ship, sea horses on the other, and starfish in conceirge. The seahorses are narrower than the fish - and I noticed that some FE's slipped sidewise on them a bit.

I was using a friends FE for the Dream Maiden - it was 8 inches wide and fit without any problem. I used my own (finally found a Pooh Bear one!!!) on the Wonder in April - it was fine for that ship. I will be using it on this cruise.

So hopefully the recommended 8" FE should fit. Although may want to bring extra ribbon/string to make sure they fit on the "fish".

Hi all -

- We are not planning any excursions on this trip. I've been to Nassau before and would probably prefer a ship day. I could get my mind changed, though, on Atlantis!

- I would love to reserve a cabana, and may try to check when we get on board to see if any are available. We have a party of 4, would be happy to add on others to share the cost (IF we are able to get one).

- Thanks for the info on the FE. I just measured ours and it is 8.25" so I think we're OK. My mom is coming on her first Disney cruise and we are thinking of just bringing a Xmas stocking for her FE. Here's a photo of ours from last year...

We did our final payment and bought our air fare this week...so yup! We are ready now :yay:

Hi haddybaby - yes, the cabanas are definitely gone - I'm going to check on a waitlist when we get on board. No worries if we can't. Last year we had about 3 hours on CC before it POURED rain and we dashed back to the ship. Hoping for a longer CC day this time.

Skoch - when we did our cruise last year, we had no problem finding all the FE's. We had a great time wandering the decks with our list of cabin numbers and looking at all the decorated doors! There were a few that had multiple cabins but only one FE - it was not a problem to figure it out. I think you'll be fine to just have one FE.

Just checked this morning and Palo brunch sold out for both the 12/18 and the 12/22 cruises. No worries - I will keep checking. When we cruised last year, we wanted Palo brunch for our wedding anniversary. Couldn't get it online but no problem once we were on board.

Love that brunch! (Although DH got seasick last time so I enjoyed it solo...) :)

This will be our first ever cruise and we are SO excited. We have been DVC members for several years and visit the park 2-3 times a year, but have never booked a cruise so I am CLUELESS! It will be my husband and I (42), my son and daughter (11 and 10), and my parents (72 and 75).

I have skimmed the thread and will go back to re-read more carefully, but already know I am interested in the FE.

Here are some of the questions I am trying to find answers to...what types of Christmas specific activities are there? Will the dinner that evening be Christmas themed?

Does the ship do Santa delivery? How will Santa be visiting your children?

Is there any way to find out on-board details before you get on the ship and get the on-board newsletter?

I feel like such a newbie, which is SUCH a change since I am always the one everyone comes to for their park vacation planning...thanks for any help you can give!

There is a seperate thread for the FE, listed under the cruise meets for dream 2011 - you may have already discovered it by now. Happy planning and welcome to the thread!

Hi Hi, and G'day,

Well I have been away from the boards for a few weeks due to work and planning birthday parties. Anyway that's all over now and I have finnished working my cake decorating business now. I did my last cake and cupcake party this weekend so now I can spend time on planning our FE and making last minute plans for our USA holiday. :surfweb:

I see we have a few new peeps on board it's going to be so much fun. :cool1:

I noticed a question about SANTA visiting our children. I asked this question on the boards about 2 years ago as it was a concern of mine. A few people mentioned that you can hide some of your gifts under the bed bases, now this was on the Disney Magic ship so I am not sure what type of beds we are going to get on the Dream. I have also read that some people purchase a small xmas tree from Walmart or similar and take it on the ship and decorate it for the family and then Santa leaves some small gifts under the tree. I really love this idea and as we will be coming from Australia we really need a little tree and I am thinking that Santa will leave some gift cards, some little treats maybe pins, and some other items that I will pick up at the park prior to heading onto the ship. Obviously the gifts Santa will be leaving won't be big due to space and also the fact that we are continuing to travel for another 3 weeks after our cruise. But I am thinking some gift cards, itunes card, t-shirts, swimmers a hat and maybe a plush toy. My children are getting an early visit from Santa on the 5th of December prior to us flying out of Australia. We are going to give them an ipod touch and a plane kit to see them thru the 22 hour flight. ( Wish us luck ) :santa:

Now I must go and check out the spreadsheet to see who's in on this giftexchange. I also need to refresh on the close off date :)

Have a great day and Happy Halloween

Hi Jen, We will be bringing our stockings (we always use the same ones every year) and plan to leave these out Christmas Eve. Since the gifts will be small, I figure they'll be packed and easily hidden. Good Luck on the long flight, but so great to be able to stay for a few weeks and explore WDW and then the cruise. Our kids do well on our drives - typically 10-12 hours to visit the east coast, but 22 hours on a plane is a different story, so the ipods and other kits are a great idea.

Happy crafting!

This will be our 2nd Disney Cruise. We have one son (8 yrs) who does not know we are going on the cruise. It has been 4 years since our last cruise (Magic) and there is probably not a month that goes by that he doesn't ask when we are going on another Disney Cruise.

We are trying to decide how to tell son or to wait until we arrive at the port. We are also going to WDW for 6 days post cruise to celebrate the new year. That will also be a surprise for him. We probably won't tell him about that until we park at the resort.

I have looked online but can't find any information about any special Christimas activities/programs that Disney has planned for our cruise. We will be packing our stockings and bringing those that Santa will fill with "little" gifts. Santa will follow you anywhere is what I was always taught ;)

Husband and I are getting really excited. We have been SOOOO busy I just hope I didn't forget anything in the planning process. We might be interested in the FE but first I need to make sure we have time to pull it all together before committing.

Counting down the days!!!

Hi scgraley! I've not found any information on what goes on during a Christmas cruise either, but I almost don't want to know since it will be a little more magical! (but I am, of course, curious!). Yes, we teach our kids that Santa goes everywhere, so he'll visit the ship too! Of course, 13yo DD is aware of the secret of Santa, but 5yo DD is not.

We have not told our kids, and we've never been on a cruise. Unfortunately, the 13yo knows something is possibly up but...she probably thinks it is generally "Christmas" related since I start Christmas prep around this time of the year anyway and keep the kids away from the basement, etc... Our plan is to keep it from them until the morning we leave for the trip!

DH and I are pretty excited!

As far as the FE goes, join if you think you can. There have been a couple of threads recently that address FE's, some including pictures of FE gifts people have made and received. Scan through the first 2 or 3 pages of new posts for DCL on this site and you will likely find them. Also, earlier, I found some nicely written guidelines on another FE link for an October or Nov curise (look in the 2011 meets links and some cruises have seperate FE links).

Happy planning!

Hi Hi,

Well the closing date is nearly hear and I am pumped. I can't wait for the list to close so I can get stuck into organising my FE gifts. Next week really is the last chance I will have to pop out and purchase my last minute Aussie gifts as I am going on a Police Training Course for a week so I will be staying at the Police academy which is about 3 hours away from home and the family all next week. I can't believe it's only 29 day's till we leave Sydney.

I hope everyone has a great week. I can't wait to catch up with you and all your family members on the cruise or for the lucky few the week prior at WDW. We are staying at ASMovies and will be on property for 14 nights.

Have a great Sunday lots of love Jen :santa:xxxx

Welcome all you first time Disney Cruisers. It will be the most memorable Christmas for you all your kids. This will be my DW and I's 4th cruise this year and the 7th overall. Not saying that to be bragging, but I find that is the best answer to stress that I have found.
To answer a few questions, the ship will be decorated from head to toe with Christmas. For those of you with small kids, there will be a gingerbread house building event. Will probably be a signup so hit that whenever you get on board, or even ask at the terminal once there. Mrs. Clause is supposed to read the Night Before Christmas and CM's will be singing carols.
I haven't been on the Christmas Cruise yet, but if I am willing to spend double the normal price, I can tell you Disney is going to make your Christmas Awesome.
I also understand Christmas Photos will be taken. I don't feel you need to kill yourself trying to get the pictures at any specific event. Disney is really good about capturing events for you and then collecting with photo sells.
I love the fact that alot of you have never cruised with Disney before. That will make it that much more exciting for me and my family. The faces are priceless.
There is a special dinner for Christmas so I would thing that the dinner arrangments will be ABCC for those of you that know what that is. Bring the stockings and a camera. Any questions let me know.
See you all on the ship!

Maybe this has been discussed before, but does anyone have an idea of how the dining rotation works? Also, when will Pirates night be? Is it always on Castaway day? How about formal night? I'm so excited, I wish we were leaving today. :santa:

I can't believe how excited we are getting - and even more surprised that our son hasn't questioned why our house is already decorated for Christmas (less than one week after Halloween).

Thought I had finalized our plans for what Santa would bring for our stockings but now I'm not sure. What is meant by the Christmas Eve Dinner ABCC - and bring your stocking? I don't want to spoil any surprises anyone (or myself) - just tell me this - will I be able to still use our stockings late Christmas eve night for Santa's visit?

I was also thinking it would be nice to hang a small wreath from our Fish (outside the cabin). Since we did not plan to participate in the Fish Exchange in time, I thought I could atleast dress up the outside of our cabin and make it feel like Christmas. I would imagine as long as I follow the same size guidelines as they have for FEs that it would be okay. Any thoughts?

TrySomethingNew
11-09-2011, 05:33 PM
Hi scgraley,
I would definitely decorate and/or hang something from the fish outside the door - a wreath sounds great!

I, too, am wondering about the stocking thing - and bringing it to dinner. I was planning to have Santa leave their Christmas gifts in their stockings in the cabin to open on Christmas morning.... hmmm....

ABCC refers to restaurant rotation, and I think the double letter is in reference to the same restaurant, probably because of the normal menu one night and the Pirate menu the other night.

Of course, I've not been on DCL before, so someone else can chime in....

I'm brand new to cruising - this is my first cruise ever - so forgive me for asking (I'm a little embarrased ) but what does the ABCB mean?? What do they stand for? I'm also assuming "formal" night will be Christmas Eve, what do you guys think? Can you tell I'm trying to figure out all of our outfits...what can i say, I'm a big planner. :confused3 Also, what is this I'm reading about bringing our stockings??

Thanks for any help/advice....again, I'm a total newbie to this cruising thing

just got off the the phone with DCL. It appears that Pirate Night will be night 2, December 23rd. Kinda makes since with Night 3 being Christmas Eve and Night 4 Christmas Night. Did not get the order of dining rooms but I would suspect the order will either be ABBC or ABCB meanin that the night of the Pirate Night you will hit that one twice. But, there will most likely be a Christmas Menu for the 25th so really all is only a guess. I also asked about the movies on board and it appears that they will be the Disney flicks out now. The Help, Winnie the Pooh, Pirates and the others. I guess the Christmas movies and shows will be in room or maybe the top deck. Don't know. My DW and I will bring the stockings, and ask the room attendant once we get there if he/she knows what is going on. You could also ask that person to fill the stockings or leave presents out for you. The boat should be decked out next week and will be ready for us all on 22 December! By the way, don't forget to ask for milk and cookings from room service before you go to bed.
Have any other questions, let me know.

We received our official documentation and luggage tags in the mail yesterday. Yippeeee!!!!!

I am so looking forward to our vacation. My son and I were diagnosed with several food allergies early this year and as a result we are very restricted when it comes to eating out of our own home. Because of the nature of my allergies, I cannot eat anything processed and must make everything from scratch. Naturally, going on vacation has brought some anxiety as to how I will eat.

Leave it to Disney to already have a plan to cover everything! Not only did they provide me with forms to communicate all of my allergies, but I even received a personal phone call yesterday from a DCL representative to discuss the nature of our allergies and other specifics.

I am probably most excited about not having to worry about what we'll eat or what I'm going to cook for 10 days - Disney is handling it all. Praise God! This makes for a very happy and relaxed mom :yay:

We also talked with WDW and made all of our dining reservations for our land portion and are ready to go. Now I just need to pack and get to Port Canaveral!!!

We are in this exchange and I feel so silly but with working 12 hour shifts and owning and operating 2 businesses I just dont have the time. The other problem I face is buying one is ok but they won't be shipped to Australia before we leave or if they can they want to charge big BUCKS for express shipping.

Would a bag be ok ??? Any ideas on what I could do ???

Thanks in advance jen :)

I have seen some posters that have strung together some small canvas bags with ribbon to make a chain of bags. In the US, the bags are easy to find in the craft stores and they carry several sizes.

I re-purposed a pair of my older DD favorite jeans that she outgrew. Maybe I'll have the only denim FE, but I used one leg of the pants, and the pants have embroidery all down one side. She'll get a kick out of seeing her pants used for such a thing. It actually was easier to do than I thought, especially since I am a pretty inexperienced seamstress, but it only required using a straight stich. They are the perfect width, and the pockets (I just made horizontal cuts on the front of the pants and finished them with bias tape and decorative trim) seem to be of a good size. A metallic fabric pen worked great to add the names.

I know some people use part of an over the door shoe pocket holder - cut down to the right width. :thumbsup2

Good Luck with whatever you do! No worries! ;)

I would call the resort you are staying at or at least the general reservation line, and they could provide some guidelines. I would still call the desk at the resort you are staying at. Alternatively, you could email someone or do a "chat" online - there is usually a button for that on many websites and this may be more economical for you.

Additionally, since I repurposed a pair of denim pants, and only used one leg - I could make the other side into an FE and I could send it your way (to the resort - I would not want to risk it not getting to AU). :goodvibes I'm happy to do that and should have plenty of time as I am off the majority of this next week, due to the Thanksgiving holiday and vacation days I am using (and I am NOT cooking for a crowd this Thanksgiving either). :woohoo:

We booked this cruise in Jan and now in less than a month we will finally all be together on this cruise that we have planned and dreamed about. I am wondering tho, how do you sign up for things that are offered on the ship (for example, gingerbread house making) How do you even find out about those things? Hi everyone,

I am hoping to find some more people to join us with the FE exchange. I have created a new google doc:

Here is the link:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AhxKzs5aH3jrdGY0U2hYQ0YxZEI0QXZfZkMxZEtMa 2c

I started thinking about all of this about the time the FE was closed on the original one. Like everyone else, I am a very busy mom and I didn't want to start thinking about this trip until it got closer or I would never get anything done.

Message me if you have any questions.

Thanks,

Robyn:banana:
Robyn, We would love join. We just booked a few weeks ago and the FE was already closed. This will be my son's first FE and I think Christmas will be a great way to introduce it to him. We have added our info to the list.

Thanks for setting this up! We just signed up for the FE Exchange. Super excited - only 23 more days!!

Will there be a deadline for people signing up? I need to know when I need to have all of my planning complete on the FE Exchange and make sure I get everyone that is participating.

Have a blessed evening!

I agree we need a reasonable date to cut it off. I recommend this coming Monday. What do you all think? That will give me a couple of weeks to put everything together.

I think Monday is a good cut-off day.

I have another question - I'm assuming that each participant will bring a gift to exchange and not just one per family. Correct?

I am planning on at least one per person. I will probably do a family gift too for Christmas.

Things are getting finalized!!! I see the light at the end of the tunnel and will soon be relaxing.

So happy that my parents have agreed to come stay at our house and take care of the dogs. That is a huge weight off my shoulders and savings. Love having "retired" parents!

Have a blessed day everyone!

Hi all, it has been suggested we cut off the gift exchange on Monday December 5. I am fine with that. It is a small group but I think it will be nice for our first gift exchange. Deirdre and I opted not to do the adults. Do you think that is a mistake? I can change it if you all think we should. Thoughts?:santa::santa::santa::santa::sant a::santa::santa:

Good morning! I think it is entirely up to you - if you want the adults in your group to participate. For us (only having one child) it's affordable for us to participate in the exchange. Whatever you decide to do, I know we will all have a blast! You should do what is right for your family and nothing that will put a strain on yourself (time wise and budget).

Have a blessed day everyone. Looking forward to celebrating the birth of my Lord and Savior on the Dream.

I really don't know if it matters - but I've already packed little gift bags that I will be slipping each gift in. I won't be putting them in the gift bag until we get there though - got to save some space!

Blessing!

Hello everyone!
I just registered here and we are due to sail 12/22 for Christmas! My husband and I are huge Disney fans-we don't have any children though. we are artists and love all the imagination, creativity, and attention to detail DISNEY is known for. Is it inappropriate to try to sign up for FE and would it be too late now?-it would add so much magic to our cruise-just learned of it today.:flower3:

It's almost 2AM and I can't sleep I'm so excited about the cruise! Disney does that to me- somehow I feel no different now than when I would go to disney on family vacations when I was younger! -I guess I belong in neverland because-when it comes to disney-I never grow up! This will be our 1st Disney cruise and it's christmas! whooo hooo!!:yay:

Hello,

I am very late in signing up here, but am very excited to be preparing for our trip. Just wanted to quickly introduce our family- Me and DW- Trish, DS 19- Matt, DD 9- Mackenzie, and DS 3- Nick. This is my wife and oldest sons third cruise, mine and my daughters second and our youngest sons first.

We live just outside New Orleans and are looking forward to flying in next week and following on with a stay at Animal Kingdom after the cruise. Sounds like there are many people on here with similar interests and Children close in age, I can’t wait to meet all of you.

Hi Dana,
Welcome to the cruise thread! My DH and I are very excited! The kids don't know yet - although 13yoDD might suspect something. We've never cruised, and we have no Disney experience, so it will be an adventure. From reading these boards it looks like DCL is the place to be to have a great time! Happy travelling and packing! :santa:

Welcome Dana, We were so late in registering too! Just think, 1 week from now we will be on board!! We are driving down from The mountains of Tennessee next Tuesday (Monday if they are forcasting snow!)
.....(I'm secretly hoping they forecast snow, it would be an awful shame if we had to arrive a day early and go to Disney to pass the time!:rotfl:

We have been home for one week (as of today). I have "most" everything unpacked. I think I've decided to get a "Disney Cruise" box to put everything that we will need again in the box to make packing the next time around a little easier.

Our entire family was blessed by the wonderful FE gifts! Thanks for sharing a part of 2011 Christmas with us. We are already looking forward to our next cruise!

Blessings,

Thank you from our family for all the really fun and entertaining gifts! We enjoyed them all. Everyday there was a fun surprise and we had fun on our end making the gifts that we passed out to everyone. There are some very creative people amongst the group, so thanks to all for your efforts! :cutie:

Hi Hi and Happy New Year

First of all I need to apologise for the late post, we have been home for 2 weeks as of today and I am still trying to find a home for all our FE gifts, Christmas Gifts, clothes, and souvenirs that we managed to collect after spending 5 weeks in the USA.

We had a totally awesome time and we loved every second on the Cruise. I learnt heaps about doing a FE exchange and I am sorry that my gifts were not handmade or even Disney in style. We have never done anything like this and to tell the truth finding Disney stuff in Australia is well nearly impossible.:headache: However saying that I managed to collect heaps of Disney crafty stuff and I will be better prepared for our next cruise. ;) We hope we can cruise again in 2015 ... Yeah Yeah I know that is a long way off but we are just in the process of organising our next holiday this time we are going to visit Hong Kong Disney in Dec 2013 :santa:. We wanted a Disney Experience as well as a cultural holiday. :yay:

I wish we had organised a get together during our stay but time flew and well I guess we can't do it all. Our kids are still young and were so tired after all the activities and swimming that most nights they were asleep at dinner and I have the photos to prove it.

Anyway I will be back later to pop up some photos and if anyone would like to catch up on facebook my details are Jennifer Hicks - you will find me I've got the Santa hat with mickey ears on. lollllll

I haven't logged in for a couple of months, but your FE gifts were great and very thoughtful! I'm glad to hear that each of you had a great time and are looking forward to another Disney vacation in 2013.
