I had seen that. ERA is a reputable company, but this thing has scam written all over it. Especially because it's September, and she gets to pick the resort. Another possibility is that she misunderstood the offer, I guess.

Well Pam, I think we better enlighten her!

Although it was not a DVC property, but a private house with the screen pool, etc., and we met the "owner" and had a receipt for our deposit, it was a SCAM!! Please check this out very carefully before you give your hard-earned money to anyone who cannot give you a confirmation that you can then check out through MS. Seems very low for a 2 bedroom and/or GV. Good Luck.

Just so you know....I got a little suspicious of that thread. I won't go into all the details here (I do on that thread), but LilPixie has previously stated she has over 5,000 DVC points (while arguing why her coworker - another (?) poster - can buy 35,000 points for $2.5 million).

Just to let you know, before you spend too much time helping her out. Unless you're like me, looking for anything to read here, even if its fake!

JefferyH, I thought the same thing. The poster in question has a very small number of posts, so is new to the boards, but the costs for her stay at WDW was almost impossible. It seemed to me that she, or he, was either getting ripped off or she just wanted to add some excitement to our otherwise boring lives. It was good reading and I thought it did show how helpful our DIS posters are in a time of need. I hope all of you keep it up, good work.

I don't understand the motive at all...

Yeah, something somewhere isn't right. Also, isn't the same person using two different names in that thread? Both with low numbers of postings.

Thanks to your alert, we just read that thread. It's amazing what some people will do to 'amuse' themselves.

Lets not hold a low number of posts against anyone. :)

I agree, though, what possible motivation? Maybe just to get people to post to threads you've started?

Oh well.

well Pam, I was suckered; I told her to be careful. guess i'm just too trusting when it comes to posts here. thank you all for pointing this out to me. can't the moderators do anything? (or would they get blasted?)

Yes Jeffery H, you're our low poster who figured out the scam! I read you detective work. Kind of gave themselves away by posting as two people, didn't they? That had me confused this morning.

I brought the post up because I was concerned about the idea of a rental service but refrained from commenting. Kind of relieved it's a false alarm but distressed that these boards are now attracting troll behavior.

I never realized it (the post) could be a scam as well! If anyone on this DVC board is a CM, I just hope we don't get into the mess that Walt Jr.'s boards got into and now they are gone. Have a Disney Day everyone

So, for now the names are LilPixie and DABRJ121...until another alias shows up. ;)

Jeffrey H - you made me do some detective work too and I went into Lilpixie's profile and clicked on read her previous posts. On 3/20/01 she/he posted for help on planning a vacation at WDW -"this is our second trip to WDW since it opened" - she/he asked about hotels and various vacation packages. If you have had 5000 points at DVC since it opened, what are you doing asking about the Allstar etc. and asking about vacation packages? You are right - this one needs to be watched.

I actually looked for an ERA site that had timeshare rentals. I found one for OKW 2bd the week of 12/23-12/30 for $1500.00. Obviously that's alot more than $700. still going through rental companies now takes renting to a whole new level.

This is my first time in a discussion and I'm not sure I'm in the right place. We have been to Dw 30 times or so and have stayed almost everywhere. We bought into the DVC last sumner and should have done it sooner. We ar having a family reunion in August 2002 and may need extra points. Any advice on how to get a reputable person to rent from??

EmmaJane, you can post your point needs on the <a href="http://wdwinfo.infopop.net/OpenTopic/page?q=Y&s=40009993&a=corfrm&cf=27009194">DVC Rent/Trade Board</a> here at DIS. There is also a <a href="http://wdwinfo.infopop.net/OpenTopic/page?q=Y&a=tpc&s=40009993&f=27009194&m=781092185"> Rent/Trade FAQ</a> to give you some information.

If you have any other questions, don't hesitate to ask.

BTW, are you from Scotia, NY? I grew up there!
