Help a first-timer, please!!

My husband's boss has scheduled a planning trip to Orlando that includes wives. We will be staying at the Portofino Bay (right??) and spending one day at WDW and one day at Universal. I have never been to Universal and we have a VIP tour scheduled for us. What should I expect, what should I not miss and what can I walk by? There won't be much opportunity to go off by myself or even with a couple of others but I really would appreciate your expertise!

I did'nt really get all the info from you. If you are gonna have any free time I'd make a mad dash to Margirtiaville in City Walk, GO to the Funnel Cake stand at the IOA port of entry, I would take the time to walk through the I love Lucy showcase and I would not miss T-2 and The water rides are my favorite at IOA. Maybe others will help you with ther fav's. Oh and you will love PBH we'll be back home there Labor Day:p

Well, the VIP tour will get you to everything really. (Tho never been on one, just heard they're great for groups)
At Portofino, walk around the waterfront after sundown and pay a visit to The Thirsty Fish.
You'll be making plans for a return trip after your Universal day.
