 Hola friends. Just thought I would get an early start on our post trip report to the Disneyland Resort. The kids are taking a power nap before heading back into the parks for our last fun-filled-jam-packed-night at Disneyland /DCA, DH is watching the World Cup, and I don't nap..................................ever! :hyper:
A recap:
Drive from Utah to Anaheim on 6/12, stay in the Anaheim Marriott Suites, 6/13-6/18 at the GCV in a 2 bedroom, and our final Disney night, tonight 6/18 at the PPH.
Also in the plans but not Disney related: 6/19 in Huntington Beach and then drive to Mesquite and stay the night. We'll be home on 6/20, Father's Day.

Got home this afternoon, unpacked, DH made dinner, and I have :laundy: going now. I will begin the details as soon as I can wrap my brain around the trip. I will say that 6 straight full days in Disneyland/DCA is a lot and I am exhausted. A good exhausted but still pooped out! DL kicked my butt!!! :lmao:

The original plan: Check into Marriott, groceries, In n Out, swim, meet friend for dinner at RFC in DTD
What actually happened...............
We left SLC at 5:15 am, only 15 minutes past schedule. :woohoo: The night before I was still packing up until about 10 pm :faint: This is so unlike me and I am not sure why I chose to be a last minute slacker.
The drive was truly uneventful. The big girls slept almost the entire trip there. The kids only watched one movie The Princess and the Frog. We ate one fast food meal on the way which was Jack in the Box :cloud9: and listened to lots of Disney music.
We arrived in Anaheim about 2:30 pm and checked into the Anaheim Marriott Suites. *Time for the occupancy police to tune out. I canceled the HoJo about a week before as I know the Suites would sleep 6 of us more comfortably than the HoJo would.
http://www.anaheimcamarriottsuites.com/
The rooms were clean and nice and without giving too much away, it was the 2nd best place we stayed out of the 4 this trip.
The kids swam, we had a beer, and then dinner at La Casa Garcia.

http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a292/jenmikesheets/Disney%202010/115.jpg
We wanted some place close that served a good margarita. It met both criteria. :thumbsup2 See the empty chip basket? Yum yum!
After dinner, Jenna and I strolled up Chapman to Vons to do some shopping. The Vons on Chapman was by far the nastiest one I have been in. It smelled like head cheese. :scared: Michael picked us up after shopping as it wasn't the block away that we were told. ;) We bought bagels, cream chese, fruit, cereal, milk, beer, water, juice boxes, oj, go-gurts, Pizza Rolls, chips, and popcorn.
We didn't buy the bounty we anticipated so need for the Suites to hold our groceries. Between our 2 coolers and the mini fridges, everything stayed cold.
http://www.vons.com/IFL/Grocery/Home
After shopping my BFF called. Without going into too much detail she has suffered some unimaginable losses within the past 6 months and was not up for dinner so she came up to our room and we chatted until late............

The original plan: Sunday 6/13: DL 8am-mid DCA 10-10 MM 7-8
• Check out of Suites and into GCV, drop luggage
• Disneyland rope-drop by 6:30 for MM, Fantasyland
Okay, the more I think about rope drop on this morning, the more insane I think I am. Knowing our party and as much as it pains me, I am making more Ridemax itineraries to include a 10 am start time and skipping MM/FL all together on this day.
• Flag Retreat at 4:45
• Fireworks!
:rotfl2: What actually happened.............
As you can see the plan was to check out of the Suites and make it to MM by 6:30. Uh....it didn't go exactly as planned....for us anyway  Our friends made and conquered Fantasyland it but we didn't. DH and I allowed DS to sleep in between us. Remember the scene in Pretty Woman when Julia Roberts tries to go shopping on Rodeo Drive and the snotty women in the store basically tell her to sod off? She comes back and says BIG BIG mistake? It was a BIG BIG mistake to let DS sleep with us. He kicked us all night. :sad2: My alarm went off at 5:30 but when I tried to wake DH he said there was no way he was getting up and to let him sleep til 7:00. I did. I also fell back asleep which is an indication of how beat I was too.
We checked out of the Suites by 8 am and high tailed it over to the GCV even though we knew the villa wouldn't be ready. I was so excited for my first DVC check in. :woohoo: During check in the kids took some photos while DH self-parked the car. I was not paying $18 for valet.

After check-in we RAN to Main St. Our friends had finished Fantasyland so we headed to Splash to grab FPs which would be our consistent plan upon arrival at Disneyland.
I will tell you now; we didn’t follow Ridemax at all- not even one morning. I put them in my bag every morning with intent to follow through but would find my sweet little itineraries crumpled up at the bottom of my Minnie messenger bag nightly. :lmao:
I cannot remember what order we rode things. It will be easier to tell you that out of the 6 days we missed:
• Mark Twain
• Columbia
• ToonTown
• Monorail- we tried but it broke down so the wait was 30 minutes
• Mr. Lincoln- we tried but a miscommunication led us to leave right as we were sitting down. Not too upset as I hear it is similar to the American Adventure in WDW.
• Snow White
• Casey Jr.
• Flag ceremony
• Jedi training. None of the kids wanted to do this.
• F! but did see some walking by
I also missed Nemo that day due to waiting 2 hours for a prime fireworks spot.

But first a photo of our crew:

After check in and a quick swim, sorry no pics, we headed back to Disneyland. Having been to Disneyland hundreds of times and knowing how finicky Anaheim winds can be I thought it best to view the fireworks tonight. Of course, nobody but my girlfriends wanted anything to do with waiting 2 hours to find a supreme spot ;) So Michael and Nate took all 8 kids while me, Jenna, and Alisa camped out and waited. A VERY sweet CM name Benjy told us exactly where to sit (we even had a bench with an unobstructed view)!! We had Dole Floats and chatted away. I don’t have fireworks photos from tonight as I really wanted to enjoy them and find I miss a lot when I try to take pictures. Magical was good but Hallowishes and Wishes are SO much better. I did enjoy watching Dumbo fly of course but the show was not the tear jerker I am accustomed too.
After the fireworks we met back up with the men and kids.
Smells like teen spirit:
http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a292/jenmikesheets/Disney%202010/158.jpg
Rode IASW. My kids always get a kick out of the Hebrew in this sign:

I miss Greg Brady riding the surfboard but do love me some Lilo and Stitch:
http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a292/jenmikesheets/Disney%202010/156.jpg
As far as food goes, we had Great Harvest Cinnamon Burst bread for breakfast, tons of snacks, Hungry Bear for lunch, and of course, because I had too much fun during my undergrad, I cannot remember where we ate dinner.
Our first Disney day was amazing and I felt so blessed to be with family, some of my best girlfriends, and their families!!!

:thanks: If you are standing in the center of the hub, facing the castle, to the right there is a bench across from the hub. In front of that bench, they rope off an area for people to keep walking. No one can stand in front you so you are able to sit during the ENTIRE fireworks show!!! It was perfect!

I do too and I don't know if it was the Dis or my comp as every other site seemed to work fine, but I didn't see that anybody else was complaining that the boards were running slow. Anyways all I know is it was very frustrating.
I agree- I hate when that happens. Remember dial-up?
What fun with a big group!!! Everyone looked like they were having a blast!!
The villa is beautiful!! Looked pretty roomy!
Great pics!!
:thanks: The GCV was big! Bigger than the AKV in WDW or it seemed. Maybe because it was brighter but it seemed to have more room. I want to add on there so badly. :cloud9:
It was a fun group. Everyone gets along, no drama, easy going. :thumbsup2
So far so good. Waiting for more. You have a very cute family.
:goodvibes Thanks and :welcome:
Everything looks wonderful. I love the picture if you and Joshua. Nice view you had there.:thumbsup2
I like that pic too! The view was amazing! You could see the WoC fountains and hear the music- it was spectacular. :lovestruc
Wow, I wish my condo was as nice as GCV! Then again my mortgage probably equals just a couple nights there.
Looks like everyone is having a fun time, which is especially awesome with that many kids of varying ages. Hope to hear more soon.
:welcome:
The kids get along really well. We have been friends with the AZ folks for years- the kids have known each other since they were in K. We have known Jenna et al for almost 3 years and have such a good time together. :grouphug:
I wish my house was as clean as the GCV.
I am trying to write an update and trying to get the kids packed for camp. They leave for CO for 2 weeks and the amount of crap they have to bring, no laundry, is unreal. :scared:

Popping in to say GREAT pics-BIG smiles!!! I loved your pics of last trip-look how your kids have grown...it happens doesn't it!
Your villa is beautiful with such a great view, really always feel like in the Disney moment with that outside your window, huh?
I am using RideMax but it sounds like just knowing some crowd basics helps even if you don't use "the plan". Gotta go with the flow sometimes! How were the crowds?
Anyway I'll be in and out trying to get more stuff done than time allows here before we leave next week!
Really enjoying reading about your trip-thanks for sharing!

:goodvibes The crowds were not horrible, definetly not holiday/peak summer crowds even with the WoC starting. One day the Splash line was 120 minutes but the park didn't appear that crowded. :confused3 Of course we had FPs.

The GCV are amazing, really. :lovestruc I would add on there in a minute and not sure I could stay anywhere else after staying there. :snooty:  I am sorry we missed you but we'll be back. The door is always open.

I didn't think DVC was in the cards until I investigated. Our villa would have cost around $1,500 a night. :faint: This stay alone paid for nearly half the total cost of our contract, minus dues of course but even with dues it won't take but a few more years to break even. :thumbsup2
Today has been hell. DH had ear surgery and it was more intense than he thought. He did great but is still very sedated and now I am thinking I should leave Sunday to drive the kids to CO but don't really want to drive 16 hours in 2 days. I am also trying to finish packing for camp. Can you say overwhelmed?
Hope everyone is having a beautiful Friday.

Hi ya. No Disney update, just a real life update.
DH's ear surgery was far more intense than anticipated. He is home mending. I made it to Denver with the kids. Wyoming could possbily, at least along route 80 from Utah, be the ugliest place in the US. Dry, flat, yawn.............
Tonight we are going to see TS3 and to Dave and Busters, although I am not sure what that is. DD saw a Nordstrom's and wants to shop. I also need to run to Target and grab a few things I forgot for their camp. I will be driving solo from Denver to SLC tomorrow so wish me luck.

Good Morning! So sorry about DH's recovery..sending healing prayers up for him! Glad the first leg of the trip went OK.
Had a poorly planned yard sale yesterday so i could have spending $ for DL and get back my garage! Made enough for dinner and a movie instead! Last night, took my boys (Who are not going to DL next week on the girls grad trip- they get to go in Oct with entire family)to ToyStory 3 . We all loved it. Yahoo had an article last week on inside things to watch for...like Sid is the garbage man in this movie and wears the same Tee-shirt as in TS1!
Hope the kids have a great week at camp and you have a SAFE trip home!!! You can daydream by thinking of all those great memories you just made at DL and start planning your next trip! You've been so busy a few quiet hours to yourself (even ig the're in a car) should be welcome!
We are now in countdown mode for leaving on Sat!
Have a great day!

I am sorry your sale didn't make more money. Garage sales are a lot of work. I had one once and it wasn't worth the time. I put out nicer things and learned people want to pay .50 to $1 is all.

I am sick of getting the beaver!!!
http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a292/jenmikesheets/Disney%202010/sickofbeingthebeaver.jpg
The original plan: Monday 6/14:
DL: 8am-mid DCA 10-10
• DCA by 9:15 for rope drop
• DCA all day
• Pixar Parade at 5:15
• Dinner at Wine Country
• WoC
• Disneyland until close
How it actually went down.................and it went down as planned!!!!
The night before we debated going over to Disneyland to grab FPs for Splash and Indy but decided we needed the sleep. I think DCA rope drop counts as a rope drop though.
Woke up on time, filled our bellies with coffee, bagels, fruit, and cereal and headed to DCA using the GCV entrance. Let me tell ya, that perk alone rocks! Waited at the rope to high tail it to TSMM which would be the DCA daily plan. That line never got under 45 minutes- ever. That ride SO needs a FP.
Of course, I don't remember when we did what in the morning so I will just share pics from the morning until the break.

YEAH! I'm all caught up, subscribed and loving your TR! I just keeps getting me so excited for our trip in October. Now, I didn't put a request in for a room, but what was the view difference between what you requested and what you got? I'm so glad you had a great time and can't wait to read more.
Also, have decided that we're doing dinner in Huntington Beach - on Oct 2, printed a few menus. Don the Beachcomber and Longboard Pub. I'm trying to find something that we can eat outside and if possible, something on the water. Any suggestions?

The check-in was easy. They asked if we wanted upstairs or downstairs. I didn’t even think about it being time for the parade but we got sat, we realized we scored. The kids had perfect views! Some candid WCT shots.

All the food was good except for my lamb which was SO greasy.
At the end the server gave us the check and our WoC preferred dining show passes. Of course, me being me, wanted to go check out the situation so I sent the others ahead to ride ToT and Screamin’. I love shows and parades so waiting is not a big deal for me.
When I went over the CM said I would be in the blue section. The CM was wrong. I was supposed to be in the preferred dining section. I was early so moving over was not an issue. They let us all in around 7:30 pm. Luckily everyone was back because it would have been very hard to save more than a few spaces. We got right against the railing in the preferred section- perfect view. I had brought glow necklaces and snacks and the kids occupied themselves until the pre-show which was SUPER cute. I would highly suggest seeing the 9 pm show to partake in the pre-show.

:goodvibes It is a total trip! I am better than I expected though. The rabbi emailed me yesterday and gave me a quick update on them. The camp posts photos everyday so I can stalk them without them knowing. :rotfl2: The not-hearing-their-voices is unnerving though. :sad1:

It's weird. I am not worried about their safety at all and I don't know if worried is the correct adjective- it's just different to not hear their voices and I really miss them. I am dong much better than I thought. Of course, this could all be different in the morning.

Totally. In the pics Gabby and Joshua have these huge grins and Chloe's seem half-hearted. I think being away though is good for us, we needed a little independence on both parts but I wish she was having the time of her life. I can't believe it's only Day 4. :faint:

I hate that! I am sure there are people who scam them but for the most I think people are honest. We had to go to Walmart and return one of the digital cameras we bought the kids for camp as the flash didn't work. DH tried to return the day after we bought it and the lady gave him all kinds of grief so I did it yesterday no problem. I think 3/4 of it is the mood the person is in. :rolleyes1

The original plan: Tuesday 6/15:
DL: 8 am-mid DCA: 10-10 MM 7-8
• Disneyland by 6:30 for MM at 7 am, Fantasyland if we skipped it on 6/13
• Toontown
• Blue Bayou
• Jedi at either 2:25 or 3:30
• Cafe Orleans
• F! at 10:30
What actually happened................:rotfl2:
Soooo………guess who didn’t make MM or Toontown? ::yes:: Yup, us! We also bagged Blue Bayou, Jedi, Café Orleans, and F! :lmao: Why do I even plan? I was talking to DH last night about WDW and he said that next time we are going to do 2 days on and then take a day off, lather, rinse, repeat. I have to say I agree with him because looking back, although we didn’t follow the original plans, we seemed to go-go-go and didn’t really get to enjoy the GCV like we planned. We are thinking WDW for December (or at least that is what I am thinking) and we’ll do it his way.
We also discovered that the GCV had BBQs and as most of you know, Disneyland’s food gets a little old so we decided that we would BBQ lunch/dinner the next couple of days. Michael ran to the store the day before, during the power break, and grabbed burgers, dogs, fruit, and chips. :teeth:
Anyway, we slept in a little but still made it to Disneyland by about 8:30 am. Did the whole Splash, Indy, Space FP gig and did some things we hadn’t like Autopia:

Thanks! We haven't left Utah, but we moved away from SLC. We'll be living with my in-laws until our house sells and will be starting new jobs in the next few weeks.
I'm reporting live from Disneyland. It's been fun but mega hot--about 10 degrees higher than the forecasts we had the day before we left. We leave tomorrow. :sad2:

Also got a kick of the pics on Screamin'.........lol, too many smiles......I'm screaming & eyes closed for the entire ride...... :rotfl:

Just want to give a quick apology for being a total trippie slacker. This summer has been insanely fun and crazy so I am not able to update like usual.
The orginal plan:
Just want to give a quick apology for being a total trippie slacker. This summer has been insane fun and crazy so I am not able to update like usual.
The original plan
Thursday 6/17:
Grad night DL: 9-9 DCA: 10-6
• Disneyland by 8:30 for 9 am opening til about 2ish
• DCA 2:30- close
• Back to Disneyland til closing at 9 pm
• Fireworks 8:40
• Pack up
What actually happened…………………
Tonight was our last at the GCV and I was super sad to leave. I am trying to learn how to enjoy the day before change/leaving and it’s just not my forte. I have decided that for future trips, we won’t be adding on nights unless we can stay at the same resort. While another day in Disney rocks, it’s not worth the headache anymore. Now that we own DVC, paying OOP for a hotel seems silly. We hit Disneyland as planned.

 We woke early today with a plan to make rope drop and have bell services take our stuff to the PPH. I had waitlisted a villa but it never came through. I would have forfeited the $175 to stay another night in the Grand. :lovestruc We had stayed at the PPH in 2007 and loved it. Lemme just say either things have gone downhill at the PPH or we are spoiled by DVC. Or both. ;)
We packed up, ate breakfast (bagels and fruit), and called bell services to grab our bags. Our friends would be carrying on their road trip but first they would join us for a half day in Disneyland.
A few last photos of the Grand while on our way to first MK and then DCA. I cannot tell you how sad I was to leave. The Grand isn't just a catchy name.

Up first, Indy as usual. :cloud9:
http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a292/jenmikesheets/Disney%202010/334.jpg
We also rode POTC, HM, BTMRR, and IASW. Our friends showed back and we spent the morning together. They said goodbye and we cried as usual :grouphug: because we aren't sure the next time we'll see each other. I am hoping our Dec 2011 WDW trips overlap by at least a few days. Jenna follows the rules and tries to have her kids not miss much for vacation. I am from the other school of learning. :littleangel:
We were tired and hungry when we got to DCA so we headed to the Pier for lunch:
http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a292/jenmikesheets/Disney%202010/343.jpg
It was about 2:00 at this time so I called the PPH and asked if our room was ready. They told me 3:00 so we shopped a bit and headed over at 2:45.
Our room was not ready but we did get a couple of photos in the lobby. I just love Surfer Goofy:
http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a292/jenmikesheets/Disney%202010/344.jpg
http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a292/jenmikesheets/Disney%202010/346.jpg
At 3:00 I went back to the front desk and guess what? No room. :headache: They said 30 minutes tops so we decided to head to the pool and chill.
http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a292/jenmikesheets/Disney%202010/348.jpg
http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a292/jenmikesheets/Disney%202010/349.jpg
http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a292/jenmikesheets/Disney%202010/350.jpg
At 4:15 our room was ready and what a dingy little icky room it was. I used to love the PPH, like love it, but it seemed very rundown and not up to Disney standards. But it was only for one night. The kids all napped and DH headed to El Pollo Loco to grab us dinner. Utah doesn't have El Pollo Loco.
After dinner, it was back to Disneyland to enjoy our last night. The last night is always so bittersweet for me. I know we'll be back and had a great vacation but I always get emotional and shed a tear or 50.
In line at Indy and enjoying Mickey Rice Krispie treats:
http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a292/jenmikesheets/Disney%202010/351.jpg
A dark but twinkling Pixie Hollow:

And 2 final pics in front of the castle:

http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a292/jenmikesheets/Disney%202010/357.jpg
We shopped on the way out but did most of our shopping with my friend the day before.
It had been a fabulous trip to Disneyland but we were tired. 6 days straight was a lot. Next time we'll have *down* days to enjoy the resort more.
Up next..............a day at the beach.

We stayed at the beach until about 3:00 and then headed to Mesquite, NV for the night. There we checked into the Casablanca which was WAY cheaper but just as crappy as the PPH. I guess I am officially a hotel snob. :snooty:  We grabbed a quick bite from the casino restaurant and headed to the pool. I think we all crashed about 11 pm.
That Sunday was Father's Day and what better way to celebrate than with Jack in the Box. Utah doesn't have JITB either.
