I can't think of any actual table service restaurant on WDW property that is NOT in the parks that has traditional Italian food? Am I forgetting somewhere? :confused3

Il Mulino New York Trattoria at Swan has pasta. It is a little pricey.

I'll look into that one. I didn't want anything too fancy, simple would be better on the tummy. I just thought of Portobello or maybe Wolfgang Puck Cafe? I see it has pasta...

Port Orleans Riverside has a create your own pasta option at their food court. I've heard that it's good. Last January I stayed at POFQ for the marathon week-end and had originally planned to eat at the POR food court the night before the full marathon. However, I've learned that my body doesn't really want a carb load of pasta the night before a half or full marathon so I wound up skipping it and can't tell you from personal experience how good the pasta is.

Wolfgang Puck Express in DTD has pasta choices. The one year before the half I ordered the children's spaghetti and meatball in the food court at POFQ. For me, it was just the right amount of food before a race.

We ate at Portobello in January. Liked the atmosphere and the service; weren't so impressed with the food. The other 3 nights we ate at the food courts at French Quarter and Riverside and thought the pasta there was MUCH better!

During Goofy this year, we ate at Portobello on Friday night and at the Flying Fish on Saturday night. Both had plenty of good carb options to choose from.

Port Orleans Riverside or POP Century for pasta or pizza specials.

We are planning on staying at CBR and I am doing the Goofy. Does anyone know if Shutters has any pasta or should I try to eat at one of the PO resorts instead? I was going to try to avoid DTD for Friday night and have no idea yet what I will do Saturday night. I have heard that Shutters is good, so I was thinking I would just stay at my own resort.

POP has a few different options at their food court in the Italian section intentionally geared towards the runners. I recall ziti as well as chicken alfredo which I promptly pounded multiple plates of the last few years. Was conveniently located next to the WISH meet also!

ACTUALLY - Most (if not all) sit down restaurants will have pasta features the nights before the half and full. You may have to ask the wait staff but the chef will have something in the back.
The last couple years we have eaten at the Grand Floridian Cafe on Saturday evening. I was able to spec out what I wanted/needed both times.

I know it's not table service but last year before the half I just ate at the place next to the expo - it wasn't Victoria and Albert's, but they had race specials, it tasted just fine, it was fast, it was relatively cheap (well by Disney standards :lmao:) and it got the job done :thumbsup2. Before the full we went to Olive Garden to load up on Pasta and breadsticks

In 2003/4 ish that is where the 'official' pasta meal was held. As i recall it was good.

If you can get off property there is a restaurant called Cafe d'Antonio (http://www.antoniosonline.com/) in Celebration that has great Italian at a lower price then anywhere on property.

Another vote for POR food court. Liked the fact that you could mix pasta type, sauce type and add-in type (protein, veggie)--you can make whatever you want.

I had POR's CS pasta. It was quite good.

Friday Night I've done Pop the last couple years after the WISH meet and then again on Saturday two years ago. Last year the ROTE crew had a private dinner at the Contemporary that was really good.
Chef Mickey's I believe added extra pasta as does pretty much every place during Marathon weekend. I've had the pasta at POR, but not before the Marathon although I'm sure it's no different.

We're going to be eating our pre-Half Marathon dinner somewhere at MK, probably counter service, during MNSSHP. Yipes.

I've participated in the marathon weekend for the last ten years. Pretty much all of the resort table service restaurants have special pre-race meals, and we have been really happy with them. They will really make you what you want (with chicken or veggies or without, sauce on the side, etc.).

So you remember the big white tents in the early days. While the WWoS was out of the way I thought the large 10-12 person tables were a great thing. I was able to meet a lot of different folks.

We ate at the restaurant on the BW that is now Cat Cora's place (Can't recall the old name.) for the half a couple years back. It was absolutely awful. Wait went about an hour past our ADR time and they had nothing special planned for marathon weekend. I thought I had choose wisely since we were staying at BCV. I did get a pasta dish, but it was terribly spicy and not a good decision. :lmao:
I'm thinking POP on Friday night and either POR or Wolfgang Puck Express on Saturday. Thanks for the suggestions. I'll skip planning an ADR then.

I do remember them! It was a nice way to bond with fellow racers. These days, it is a little bit tougher. That is one of the reasons that I am so excited to have found W.I.S.H. Now I don't have to be alone!

We tried the Pasta in the Park last year. If it were not sooo cold, I think we would have said it was a 100% enjoyable experience. We had a mixed table of runners and families who thought runners were silly - gave me a chance to yuck it up.
The entertainment was excellent and the food decent. I thought is wierd the meal was on Thursday - but I would not have stayed for the fireworks if it were Friday or Saturday.

Trying to budget for 2011. How much is the Pasta in the Park?

I think it was $45 a head..but includes a park pass and firework vieing area. I think we were allowed in the park at 5 (could have been 6) so we had an hour or longer to kill before eating. THen you had some time post meal before the fireworks. It seems pricey but I thought it was not a bad deal given the additional park time.
