I posted this under Buckalew's favorite Bible verses thread, but then felt bad, because I changed the subject of her thread.

So I thought I would post it here. It speaks volumes to me and the world would be a better place if people could all try to be instruments of peace.

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace,
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
...where there is injury, pardon;
...where there is doubt, faith;
...where there is despair, hope;
...where there is darkness, light;
...where there is sadness, joy;

O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek
...to be consoled as to console;
...to be understood as to understand;
...to be loved as to love.

For it is in giving that we receive;
...it is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
...and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.

This was sung at my mothers funeral. A lesson in love. A lesson in life.

THE CATHEDRAL OF THE PINES is a beautiful non-sectarian OUTDOOR church nestled in the mountains of New Hampshire. The backdrop of the altar is a spectacular display of foliage surrounded by various peaks. There is a small St. Francis chapel there, also outside, which has his prayer engraved into stone:) :)

I love when we sing this in church. I always get a little choked up, but walk away feeling warm and fuzzy...if that makes any sense.

This is truly one of my favorite prayers and I just feel wonderful inside when we sing it in church :)

It was printed on my father's funeral cards. Patron saint of the animals. Rich kid turned saint. Universal. Eternal.
