Using Cricut to Cut Fabric

I want to use my cricut to cut a design out of fabric to iron onto a canvas bag.

My whole family is going to Disney at the end of the month and I wanted to give each family a canvas bag with design ironed on (maybe a mickey head with the year cut out in it).

Any recommendation as to what fabric would work for this? Has anyone here done this?
