Hope veryone had a great weekend!

I did a tri sprint Saturday. Was not my best effort, but learned some valuable lessons. The report is on the tri thread if you are interested: http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=36838524&postcount=244

Carrie - Sorry to ready the Sprint Tri didn't go as planned. I hope the next one goes better.

Tracy - Thanks for the advice. With the plan I'm on, the min. of walk and run change every week but I get to choose the run interval / walk interval and number of repeats. The goal of this is 2 fold. 1) get to continuous running of 2-3 miles and 2) Interspurse running into my fall 1/2 marathon. Like you said, I've been trying to listen to my body to most effectively decide on what to do next week.

AFM - Todays workout went well. I completed my 9 minutes of running during my 30 min. main workout without any major problems. I did the same 8 repeats of 1:08 run and 2:30 walk. The walk interval felt longer than I needed and I felt like I could have run more. That's a good sign for next week. I ended up doing a total of 3 miles. The best thing is no shin pain. Each prior C25k attempt has been cut short with shin pain. The half marathon training really helped build up my legs.

Jeremy - SO glad that you ar eseeing progress! That is awesome!!!

06-02-2010, 07:28 PM
Jeremy: sounds like you are doing great with that training.

Carrie - I am doing a 5K this month on the 26th, just can't remember the name right now.

Hope all the Warriors are hydrating, applying their sunscreen (and reapplying) and using their hats/visors and lip balm with sunscreen!!
Be careful out there my peeps!

Good Morning, Warriors! I'm making use of all my newfound free time I've discovered exists when you don't sleep! Hmmm.... when was the last time I was awake and up at 3:30 am? Oh right, marathon weekend Sunday! :rotfl2: Can I go back to the second trimester? Please?

Tracy: Hydrating and sunscreen isn't much of an issue in Seattle, so far! We haven't seen the sun here in 3 weeks, now! I'm literally growing algae in my backyard!

Carrie: Learnings experiences are always valuable, no matter how much they might suck while you're doing it! :rotfl: For June, I'm running (walking? waddling?) the Susan G Komen Race for the Cure 5K on June 6th, the Furry 5K for the Seattle Animal Shelter on June 20th, and the Seattle Rock n Roll Half Marathon on June 26th.

Jeremy: Oh, the good old C25K. More like an exercise in math skills than anything else but it does get you there in the end! :goodvibes

I've been a bit stalled by the bad weather here in Seattle for the last few weeks - it's hard to get motivated to run when it's been raining for 3 weeks straight! I do have my 10 mile long run coming up on Saturday, though, so I figure this will be the real test as to how the Rock n Roll will go in 3 weeks. I don't feel particularly well-trained at all, but I'm not sure I would anyway, at 7 months pregnant, so I'm going to give a stab at it.

:lmao: A big construction truck just drove down my street and my big furry protectors (our two German Shepherds will not leave me alone for a minute, lately!) just freaked out. It's time to get back to bed, I guess!

Sarah sorry the weather's been so rough for you, and really really wishing you well for your 10miles. i can't believe you're 7 months!!!!! I'll do a sun dance for you later!

Carrie i'll be popping over to read you report, but I think sometimes things have to go slightly wrong so that you know how to do it better next time!

Tracy i hope things are starting to fall into place for you. Sun-running should come with a caution :)

jeremy it sounds like you're really seeing progress which is so brilliant and exciting. Keep it up!

Me I've been struggling to get out with a bit of soreness, but off to running club in a bit. Oooh does it count if i'm volunteering for an event? I'm a course marshall for the race for life on 13th June. It's a cancer research event and i can't wait!

Kate - You know how much volunteers are needed. Of course that counts! :goodvibes orry about hte soreness. DOn't push too hard today!

Tracy - Good warning. Summer runs are tough wand we need to take extra care.

Sarah - I can't eblieve you're still running/walking/waddling. You are amazing! Hope all goes well for your final traning and your race!

Happy Freakin' Hot Thursday Warrioirs!!

It's a beautiful SUNNY day in ST Augustine today. The temperature is a Balmy 87º with the humidity hovering around a nice dry 65%, which gives us a heat index right now of 95 !!

I managed to fit in a 700m swim workout today (haven't been wet for a couple of weeks, so it's the "1 step back" workout today.

Afterwards I put in a 22 mile bike ride, & even on my bike I was sweatin' like a race horse.

No races scheduled this month, but I AM going on a (non-Disney) cruise in 3 weeks, so I've got that going for me!!

Ya'll stay safe & drink lots of water!!! I'm finally figuring out (after HOW many decades of living in Florida...... ??) that really late afternoon runs seem to be the best for heat/humidity concerns. I just have to time it so that I do not run out of light!

Carrie - I read your Tri report. We all have off days, but you showed up & gave it your best!! Color me jealous. I can't find a Tri that fits my schedule at all! As for the swimming, I am using the pool right now strictly for intervals. I do sets of 25M sprints, then 50's (starting to slide in 75's) and work back down. They are really KILLERS!, but it seems (for what little time I get to the pool) to be helping me, especially with "bursts" of exertion. I am HOPING that it will translate eventually into longer, faster swims. I have to be able to do 500m in 10 minutes for an advanced certification at work, so that's my goal right now.

But, I was approached today by a co-worker who said "Some of us are planning to do the Alcatraz swim in 2011. C'mon, it'll be fun!"

Wha.........................................?????? ?

wtpclc
06-03-2010, 03:13 PM
Jim - Thanks. Your sprints sound sliek they would help me a lot. Just for recovery from going out too fast. Great job in the pool! 500m in 10 min??????? :scared1: I can do 50 m in 10 min. lol. OK, I'm not that bad, but 500M, would take me at least 15 min. NTW, finally caught up on our May thread. So sorry about the run you had for the wife of 20 yrs. Thansk for the reminder to tell our loved ones we love them. Your job is so hard. I'm very grateful people like you are out ther efor us, though. Funny, that temp does not sound much different from MI this weekend.

John : It's nice to have you on board!! I most likely will be doing the Spacecoast Half as well!!

Jim: Yepper it's going to be a nice hot and humid summer in FL!! yippee. I do some miles during the week after work around 5:30 or it's first thing in the morning like 6:30am or 7am to try and beat the heat. I really don't mind it and think it makes my endurance that much better, but I do true to be smart about it. I do like getting over to the beach and getting that surf breeze and salt in the face!!

Enjoy your weekend everyone!!

SARAH- good racing tomorrow!! whoo hoo!!:cheer2::cool1:

AFM: I did an early sweaty 4 miles at the beach (included bith elbow bombs and pinky pistols! :rotfl2:). I am going to try and make this a Saturday deal every week. I am feeling like I am being drawn to the beach somehow - with all the dread and doom looming for most of the FL coastline for the soon to come tar and oil, I want to enjoy it. I needed to see some surf and all that stuff. It was hot and humid out there even at 6:45 in the morning. Nice breeze but only hit you in the face when you were going South. The last mile I decided to do in the compacted beach sand - good workout for the feet and legs. I finally SIGNED up for the WDW Half. I am hoping to do the Wine and Dine and Spacecoast to finish out the year.
I am now waiting on my lender to finalize their side and then get a closing date. whoo hoo!!

Tracy, thanks for the welcome and I am glad to be onboard.

We're at SSR right now enjoying the HEAT:lmao:. I got out this morning at 3:35AM for a 5+ mile walk before Kathy joined me at 4:38AM. The temp. wasn't too bad that early and we had one mocking bird that greated us as we headed towards the Treehouse Villas.

Hear what you are saying about the beaches but the word where we live is that unless there is another wicked Huricane Charlie event, the loop current should keep us clean. :sad1:Not so for the rest of Fl.

I hope to me you and other Team Members at W&D, Spacecoast and 2011 Marathon Weekend.

Stay hydrated and safe.

p.s. no idea why the un-smilie is in the upper left

The continuation of John's post

I met up with John and then we continued for another 4.81 miles My knees hurt but we had inclines that we do not have at home. It was nice to be walking at Disney. We really need to get out constantly to get in practice

Grand kids just arrived. First time meeting our new grand daughter Courtney:cool1:

Hi All

John - Welcome, It's alway good to have a new member.

John & Kathy - Have fun at WDW. I'm a DVC member but have never stayed at SSR. My home is OKW so I normally book there first and then try to transfer at the 7 month window. So far I've stayed at OKW, BWV and AKL. They are all great.

Tracy - Sounds like you had a good run.

Jim - Sound like you had a good workout. Our temp. hasn't been that how but plenty hot enough for up north in early June.

AFM, Thing are going OK. I got out this morning and almost did the same workout again. The only thing I did differently is combine the last 2 runs sections into 1 longer 2:16 run. I did it last so if I had trouble running that long I still got most of my minutes in. I normally would have done this workout yesterday but when I woke up, my knee wasn't feeling right. I didn't hurt but it didn't feel 100% either. I'm thinking I slept on it wrong. I decided to play it safe and postpone yesterdays workout. Today when I woke up it felt better.

I don't have any races officially on the schedule but I'm planning on doing the 1/2 marathon in Columbus in October. I got the calander out and figured out I need to start building mile starting right after July 4th weekend.

Hey Warriors!

Hi John! Welcome to the Warriors! Glad to have you here.

I feel like a slug. Haven't worked out / ran since last Tuesday!! Too much going on between a cake order for Saturday and going camping. Gotta get back at it today!!

And summer has definitely arrived here too. But we missed Spring! We went from cold rain / hail / thunderstorms to warm rain with horrible humidity to 90+ degrees! :headache: Outdoor running is going to be difficult for a while.

Happy training Warriors!

Hi All
My workout went fairly well today. I bumped my running interval up to 1:30 and my walking time down to 2:15, for a total of 12min running/18 min walking. Right now, my biggest problem is my leg want to go faster but my cardio can't keep up.

Hey Howdy Hey Warriors,

Hope June is going well for everyone. Gotta 5K coming up this Saturday. I/m looking to PR in it. My previous best is 26:16, I will be happy with anything below that.

My goal for the year was to run a 1000 miles. I am currently sitting at 525, so I should make it as long as an injury does not crop up. So far so good.

My wife & I have registered for the Wind & Dine 1/2 mary relay in October. We are both really excited about running this as a relay. It will be a first for us. Before the Wine & Dine, we are going to run the Disneyland 1/2. I ran it last year and had a blast. I want another Coast to Coast medal. This will be my wifes first 1/2 after a bunch of 5K's.

Good luck to everyone with there running & wlkaing this summer.

PS only a couple of weeks til Toy Story 3 comes out, yea!!!!

John VN
06-07-2010, 09:09 PM
Thanks all for the WELCOME. :thumbsup2

I envy you runners, seems like my legs just can't handle the movements required to run. I enjoy walking but maybe someday.....who knows!

I hopped on the TM for 40 minutes tonight while DW was on the recumbent. Time passed pretty rapidly watching Bones. I plan on heading out early tomorrow for a 60+ mile bike ride. Will use it to burn off all the calories I ate while at WDW this past weekend. :rotfl:

johde, I found that riding my bike in lower gears has allowed me to lengthen my cardio workout without causing pain or injuries. High cadence gets those fast twitch muscles moving and the heart has to speed up to fulfill the oxygen requirements. Without training this way I would never be able to ride the 125 mile rides and feel great afterwards.

On these hot days, don't neglect constant hydration and enjoy your training sessions.

Welcome John man that's a long bike ride, whatever gear you're in!

Everyone's doing great, very impressed warriors!

Carrie thanks, i'm glad it counts. I'm actually possibly more excited by volunteering than running right now.

Did 6.4miles on saturday- felt ok actually, been rolling lots. Also did some speed work around the green infront of our house on monday. However, it was 6am, I am quite heavy footed and huff and puff and bit so may move my sprints elsewhere!!!! :) Felt very proud tho.

Will do a proper team shout out very soon :goodvibes

I'm having trouble with my motivation. Any suggestions?

In happier news I got a new bike as a belated Mother's Day gift. It's the first time I've owned a bike in my adult life! There's a baby seat on the back so I can take the little one (who weighs 30 lbs!) along. Maybe cross-training will help???

Amanda

Sarah_Rose
06-10-2010, 10:29 PM
Hey there strong Warriors!

Amanda: Congrats on the new bike! Hope you have fun cross-training with it!

Kathy: Perhaps one of the more "experienced" WISHers will correct me, but I believe there is only one t-shirt order a year, normally around November. From what I've heard, it's tough enough to get enough orders to make the cost reasonable on that one order, to be able to do multiple orders throughout the year.

Michelle: So you've went straight from "sick" to "summer training"? Ugh.

Tracy: I know our beaches are much different than yours (:rotfl:) but I know the feeling of how great it just feels to get out there to the beach for a workout! Since we moved a few months ago, we're a bit more "inland" than we were previously, but I still love to get out to the shore whenever I can! My upcoming Saturday run involves a few miles along some bluffs overlooking the ocean and the mountains and I can't wait!

I did get my 10 miles done on Saturday!!!! :woohoo: :thumbsup2 :cool1:
It was not much fun and I had to pee for 8 of them, and I was by far the slowest on the team, but they got done, and under the 17 minute mile pace for the RnR races! I'm so relieved to have my long run under my belt, and now it's just tapering until June 26th. This is by far the hardest event I've ever trained for and it's been quite humbling, to say the least! One thing I did do was carry antacids with me, which made a big difference. It's really tough to run when every step sends the heartburn even higher! I need to remember to pack my Tums for the half!

My 5K race on Sunday was unfortunately "unofficially" rained out. We woke on Sunday morning to POURING rain, wind, and thunder/lightning. We waited until the last possible minute to leave the house and it was still really nasty out, so we decided to call it off. We really just didn't want to drive an hour to get there in terrible conditions, only to discover that it had been cancelled because of the dangerous weather. It turns out that the race did go on, but with a 2 hour delay. I'm glad we stayed home, in the end; it would have been tough to justify driving over there in that weather for a local 5K. DH's friend who lives in the area where the race was held and was also registered for the race also wimped out, as well, which made us feel better.

I'm now also on "food watch", as my DH so nicely puts it. I'm still on the low end of weight gain, and my baby is now measuring small (but within "just keeping an eye on it for now" bounds) for its gestational age. So, i've now been put back on crazy-insane calorie intake, as opposed to the "slightly obese teenager" calorie intake I was on before. I never thought I would be so tired of food. Have I mentioned that I lost 60 lbs 7 years ago, and have worked hard to keep that weight off? This is just so strange to me.

But on a happy note, I (well, not me, but the nice DVC member from the DIS rent/trade board) booked AKL Kidani savannah view for marathon weekend, yesterday! We have 5 extra adults with us this year (my parents, DH's parents, and my little brother) so it made sense to do a DVC rental. I am so excited to be able to watch the giraffes while I hang out with the baby for afternoon naps!

Have a great weekend, Warriors!

Good Morning Warriors,

Welcome John!

Sorry to have been MIA for so long- after the Pig I took my "normal week off" then drove to Fl to spend Mothers day with my mom- I came home from that sick so restarted rumming very slowly but am now back up to speed (well not really speed yet but up to my pre-race distances and run walk intervals). I'm considering a fall race (Fort4fitness Half in Ft Wayne Indiana) but since it seems my 2010 race season has been jinxed with bad weather I don't know if I want to sign up to run another half in the rain- or just wait for the Princess in2011. I start the training for the Ft Wayne race Monday and will do it- even if I don't sign up for the race.

I wish you all good miles this week!

Pam sorry you came back poorly sick- you've done the right thing though taking it easier.

Amanda two things have worked to motivate me in the past 1) get a race planned that's not too far away. Something achieveable that's in reach will work wonders. 2) post on here when i'm going to run before I do it. I feel like I have to then otherwise I've let myself down. Remember why you started running/exercising- what do you love about it- what inspired you? Good luck :)

Tracy what's going on with the house situation now? I hope it's moving forward.

me crazy weekend. All day session yesterday to become a qualified running leader :woohoo: then marshalled the Race for Life 5km this morning. What an amazing experience, who knew things could be so disorganised just 2 hours before race start! I was about half way and loved to shout and clap, got distracted by quite a few cars that had crept into my section tho!!!! Bad management there really. All safe and only one tumble for the whole pack. Went to the finish line for the last runner- she did the whole things on crutches and was fab! So i;ve had 9 hours sleep fri and sat night combined thanks to a drunken DBF last night! England football team have a lot to answer for! You guys should be pleased tho :)

Hey all!!

Still around. I have been planning and putting together an even for my former HS band members and it's this weekend coming up, so I have been busy doing that. Kinda of hectic.
Still out doing my sweaty miles with elbow bombs and pinky pistols full blast!! DId 7.50 miles this past Sunday and things are going well.
Next race is the 26th of this month a 5K.
Then DL
then Wine &Dine and then hopefully Spacecoast and then Jan WDW marathon weekend.

As for WISH shirts and hats/visors - it is a volunteer job. Orders are done once a year so the orders are high enough to get decent prices. Most places we get things from have minimums.
Usually orders start sometime around September, so having a shirt by Wine and Dine most likely will not happen. I do the Hat/Visor order and I start that around September also and have them out to people by December.

As far as the townhouse, it was at my lender and then it appraised for about 11,000 less than what they are trying to sell it for, so back to the back that owns it to see if they will accept that.

Good training everyone!

Hello Warriors,

Good hot, sweaty, humid afternoon to ya'll. I know it is not just hot here in central, Il but just about everywhere.

John, welcome to the team. It's a great bunch of runners, walkers & cyclists. :cool1:

I ran a 5K this past Saturday and got that PR I was looking for. Ran it in 24:51. My previous best was a 26:16. I was really pumped and excited about it.

Next up Disneyland 1/2 then Wine & Dine weekend. I have convinced my wife to run the Wine & Dine 1/2 relay with me. Can't wait, it will really be cool to run with her.

Looking forward to marathon weekend 2011!!

Good training everyone..

I had a wonderful 1st bike ride on Sunday but boy did my legs hurt afterwards! The 30 lbs weight on the back probably didn't help (that would be my 2 year old!). :lmao: I think the cross-training might be really helpful though.
Had an "easy" run yesterday which I cut short because my DH is sick and I needed to get home to the kids.

Hi All
It sounds like everyone is doing well.

I been a little while since I checked in with everyone. Over the past couple of weeks, my blood pressure has been climbing and had gotten to the level where I wanted to get it checked out. I got into the doctors yesterday and it read 156/92, it had gotten as high as 161/100 in the past week. The doctor has put me on Lisinopril-HCTZ to help regulate my BP. While my blood pressure has been up I've limit my working out to slow walking. I will probably continue that for the time being until I figure out how I react to the new meds. The doctor also order blood work that I went in today to have drawn.

The good news is my weight is continuing to drop. I was 310 this morning, although this was before my fasting blood work so It probably a little bit lower than normal. Yesterday it was about 312. Last month at the half marathon I was 317 and was 325 at the beginning of the year.

Amanda that sounds like one heck of a cross training session! Biking with a two year old will explain the sore legs, so pleased you enjoyed it tho. That's what'll make you stick at it.

Jeremy congratulations on the weight drop, and great news that you are being monitored for your BP. It's so rewarding seeing your hard work pay off isn't it!

Stan that's one cracking PR! I hope you're still buzzing away too. Well done.

Tracy ergh when will these blinking house people just give you guys all a break over there! Soon i hope.

Carrie after a 40mile bike ride is it so shocking that you don't want to talk about a run! You're fab and should tell us EVERYTHING! Go carrie go.

me Went out and led the running club that I usually help with, all on my own! It was fine, it;s a teeny tiny group so is great to start off with. I have a meeting in a couple of weeks to talk about setting my own beginners one up!!!! It's all becoming a bit serious! Plan to run just over 7 miles tomorrow. Very nervous about it tho as ITband not great and it's longest distance since marathon! I'll let you know if i survived :)

Hi Warriors,

Kate - Great job on your run.

Jeremy - SSR is convenient to Downtown Disney although when we used to stay at OKW they also have a path to DTD.

We have layed off the walking for a while because I hurt the knee walking at SSR. We just did a walk at a campground near us. We did 5.85 miles. It was a little ruff because the Legacy Trail was not open yet so we walked the trail. It had some sugar sand so it was a little slow. Then on Saturday we did a 10.26 mile bike ride. Everything went well with the knees. Now we have to really stay with the schedule and start increasing my pace. John can do it but I am averaging 17-18. Need that 16 but I am sure I will get there. We will go our early in the morning to avoid the Florida heat.

Hope everyone is doing well.

I managed to get food poisoning so I've been out of commission. I wouldn't wish this on anyone!!!
Hopefully I'll feel up to re-starting my training by mid-week. And at least the weather's been nice enough so I can add some swimming once I'm a bit better.
Happy Father's Day to all the dads.

Happy Hot Monday Warriors!!!

My training has kinda' sputtered the last few days. The real world keeps taking over and knockin' it outta' the picture a lot lately. I DID manage to fit in a 1 km swim workout this morning & a 6 mile run this afternoon (hotHotHOT!!!!!!!!).

Hopefully it's the heat, but I am running not very well lately. Did I mention it was hotHotHOT??? Mr. Galloway sez that slowing down in the heat is expected, so I'm gonna' go with that.

My LR's have been non-existent lately (HOT??), so hopefully we'll get some kind of slight break in the temperature so I can work on that. Next event is the DL 1/2, but it's coming quickly. I may have to do my LR's late at night to escape the heat (& hopefully not become road kill).

You guys are all doing great. Keep up the good work!!

Amanda - :scared1:Glad you are feelign ebtter!

Kathy - Your pace wil lcome. Yes, sticking to the schedule is important, but time off for injury rest is more important. You will get there. I had a firend who was doign l~ 8 miles at 18 mpm in OCtober and made it for Princess by March.

Jim - I know even MI's heat is slowing me down (not as much as my pace shows, though). Anyway, teh heat is very likely your cause. Hope you get a break soon!

Kate - Yay for the ITB beign ok and leading your own group. I bet youa re awsome!!!

Tracy - You are a machine getting those miles in in teh heaet. great job!

Been doing well with getting my training in, even if the runs are less than stellar. Have an olympic distance tri this weekend. Did on elast year, but this one is a very small field. Which typically means, better atheletes. Metally preparing myself not to give in and to do my best, even if I will likely have a DLF. Last year (did teh sprint), I gave up after the swim. Felt sorry myself. FOund out later that I PR'd the swim but the field was just that fast. Felt like a real loser when I placed in my age group (even though I DLF'd) and I hadn't come near to giving it my all.

Sorry to rampble, just trying to remind myself to give it my all.

Wow Tracy and Jim! The DL half sounds awesome. Have fun training.
Carrie - I'm very impressed even if you didn't feel it was your best! I can't imagine...

I made it to the gym today but decided to just walk instead of trying to run. I think I'm still dehydrated from being sick. And it's hot here and I had 2 long days in the OR, which is quite dehydrating. I managed to walk 2.87 miles in 45 minutes. I was just happy to feel good enough to work out!

Hi Everyone!

I am back into training mode and ready to post my miles! I've been slowly gearing up for my training schedule that is to start the beginning of July.

Carrie - Good luck! Just getting out there for an Olympic Tri is more than I would attempt! Have a great time and don't put so much pressure on yourself to keep up with everyone...swim,run and ride at your own comfortable pace and I'm sure you'll do great!:thumbsup2

Kate - You're my hero! Keep doing what you're doing

Jeremy - WTG on the weight loss, just make sure you keep an eye on your BP!

Have a great day everyone! It just takes one foot in front of the other to keep you going!

Hey Marcia!! Glad to see ya back!
I did not do the 5K as I had thought. Never made it to sign up and then a friend came in from out of town and wanted to walk with me at the beach this morning. Then last night I get a call as she was at the hospital with her father who had a cut that had gotten seriously infected and so she didn't make it. But I went to the beach and did my 5K. Even though it was a bit humid it was also windy, so that helped. Just gotta love watching the sun rise over the Atlantic ocean.

In serious training mode (with scheduled miles) now for DL, so 7 miles for tomorrow.

Keep up the great work everyone!!

Hey Warriors!

Just checking in to say hi! I've been so bad with keeping up with everybody, lately, but I think I've entered "summer vacation" mode! :lmao:

Tracy: Glad to hear that you're doing the Wine & Dine this fall! Have fun training for the DL half!

Carrie: How did your tri go? I DLF-ed this past fall in a 10K with a really fast field; I was so glad to just be out there that I didn't even mind that they'd packed up the finish line by the time I got there!

Amanda: Glad to hear that you're feeling better. It can be so tough getting the workouts in when it's hot out!

Me? I got to be the crazy pregnant lady on the half marathon course of the Rock n Roll Seattle. Yeah, I definitely got some reactions. But, I feel good, the baby feels good, and I have a medal and a "Rock Star in Training" onesie to show for the day. :lmao: My time was 3:46; I walked the entire thing (a first for me) and got away with only lower back pain (pfffft. I can get that from sitting on the couch.), sore feet (turns out swollen feet don't fit so well in running shoes), and some IT band pain (no idea where that came from - it didn't hurt at all during the race, but then when I went to stand up after driving home? Ow.) It was a great experience and I'm so glad I did it.

And now I'm going to enter "nap training" for the next 5 weeks. :rotfl:

Sarah congrats on your race.

Just walked a 5.44 mile in this weather. :woohoo: We left at 6am and the air was so dead. Monday starts the 14 week out program for W & D. Todays pace was between 17 - 18 with a short spurt of 16. I know it will come and W & D is short( I am doing the first lap). Then I still have more time for the big 1/2 marathon.

If no one wants to keep track of where everyone is staying I could do that for our team, I just don't want to step on any toes:rotfl:

Just let me know

Marcia so good to see you! Glad your training's picking up and sounds like your enjoying it! There are plenty more heroic ppl on here than me, believe me!

Carrie and Sarah you both amaze me. Sarah fab job on getting it done safely and for it being so enjoyable. Personally I think it's a bit rude they'd packed the end up, did you have a back marker person with you? Carrie- so pleased your tri went well. Fingers crosed that will do wonders to boost your confidence.

Amanda glad you took it slightly easier having been poorly. It's even more of an achievement managing to get some steps in when not 100%. Good job.

Tracy watching the sunrise... living in florida.... oh i'm turning green again. Go serious training time- are we on countdown- it's early september right?

Kathy it will definitely come!!!! That pace was great especially in the heat and dead air. Just imagine how much better you'd feel in the cooler weather too. Doesn't it feel great to be on a training plan!!!!

me since last post I've pretty much stuck to my new routine- speedyish run on tuesday, spinning weds AM, led running club on thursday then 4.5 miles today after the ridiculous england performance! It's been really hot for us all week-around 24oC so made it much harder work. On more exciting note, we've had an offer accepted for a house!!!! It's still very much on the quiet as very early stages and things often fall through over here, but it feels wonderful!!!!!

Keep at it wonderful warriors!

Thanks for all the :thumbsup2 , Warriors!

Kate: The worst part is that I wasn't even way in the back! According to the official results, I finished 16713 / 17593 - that means that there were 880 people behind me! The Gu station was literally down to one volunteer and 2 or 3 boxes of Gu - enough for maybe 50 more runners. :confused3 That just doesn't seem right, particularly for a big race like the Rock 'n' Roll ones.

Congratulations on the finish Sarah (I was hoping you'd start).

My training seems to be getting slower (I hope it's the weather or the weight I put on.) I think I'm starting to get some of the time back- very slowly I sure don't know what happened though. Today I'll get at least 4 miles done inside (it's raining here so I'll run while DD does her step class at the Y), then maybe a trip to Ft Wayne to pay some bills and check out some fabric.

What countdown are you talking about? I have a few going, but it is 68 days til the DL Half and 96 for the Wine and Dine. And right now for some reason, bugs esp the agressive and biting kind are out to get me. Especially the deer flys and they chase me and circle me which make my intervals all messed up!! :lmao:. Sooo, beach works as there are not so many "bugs" as the wind and salty air fon't mix well with deer flys and the such. So in that respect it is working out.

ok so 24c is like 75.2F and that is hot?? Girl, you may think you would like to live in FL, but today's high will be 92 (35c) with a "feels like" (factoring in the humidity in the air) is more like 99 or so. Good luck with the offer and I feel for you!! I am still not close to closing. The tax credit for purchasing a new home will expire on June 30th. I was able to get a signed contract back in February well before the April deadline for the credit, but still can't make the deadline to close, oh well!! I was really counting on the money for furniture. :confused3

Tracy, dear, it's all relative. Here in Seattle, we wilt if the temperature hits 68. :rotfl2: It was 74 one day last week and I was literally convinced that I was going to die. However, the number of days per year that we get above 70 can generally be counted on my two hands. Which is, coincidently, the same number of days per year that it doesn't rain. :lmao:

Kate: Not sure how I missed your house news, but congratulations! That is so exciting! We moved into our new house almost 3 months ago and it's been fabulous! :thumbsup2

Tracy - lol. 72 is hot enough for me. Especially earlyn spring. Then again, I have never said I wanted ot live in FL. Wayy too hot for me. On the flip side, 45 is just perfect fro me! :rotfl: Sos orry about the house. It's all just so unfair.

Sarah - OMG, you rock!!! Napping for 5 weeks sounds like a good idea fro you now, though. I've only done 1 RnR race, but thought their logistics were poor to say teh least. Expected so much moer from tehm, but was sorely disappointed. The race itself was a blast, but getting to/from it, the expo and teh pre-race were dismal IMO. feel awful for teh people behind you.

Kate - Good luck on teh house! How exciting! Thanks fro teh FB post yesterday. Loved it. COuldn't single you out without feeling like I was hurting others, though. :goodvibes

Marcia - Good ot see you!!! Missed you tons! You areabsolutely right on my swim. need to do my own thing. And.....I did!

Pam - My run goes downhill in the heat. (Not typically as bad as it's been lately, but it is a huge factor for me) That's why I put more into teh swim adn the bike in the summer. Yeah, I think my weight is probably the bigger issue fro me, too

Kathy - I fyou want to strack who's stayign where (marathon weekend, right?), I say go for it! I'll be at BWV.:banana::banana: Hoenymooned at BWI in 1996. Been in DVC since and this will be the first time back to BW. We are so excited!

Oh my, full report on teh tri thread. It's quite wordy, though. Basically, my olympic turend into a sprint to fit the race between storms. Worked out fro teh best ebcause i was afraid they'd think an olympic woudl fit, but not know how slow I was and I'd be struck by lightning or pulled from teh course.

Totally PR'd my swim. DId great on teh bike. Must have PR'd for that course. Did better on the run than I have since last fall!!! Was thrilled with my race. LAst out of the lake, but that' sok/. Passed 6 people on the bike. OK 2 passed me back in my poor transition, but tons better than last year. WOuld have liked to have had an olympic under my belt before my a/2 IM, but having a mentally good race was just as important IMO. :)

Where should I stay for the 1/2 marathon? I'd love advice! We're still waiting for the 2011 prices since we're AP holders. We're coming down to Orlando with me, DH, 3 little kids, my parents, and my MIL. Insanity!

I changed up my training a bit starting today. Hopefully it'll work better for me than what I was doing. Also managed a bike ride with toddler in tow yesterday. Still get killed going up the big hill on our block on the way home!

Kathy, right now for W&D I will be at All Star Sports. Marathon Weekend most likely back at Pop. WISHers traditionally do a meet during Marathon weekend the friday night before the half at the Pop foodcourt. So that is a given. Last year I had the Warriors meet just before that and it worked out well, so I think we can keep that for this year. I am also looking into doing a meet and greet for all WISHers for Wine and Dine. As I have found for the Princess, the meet is not as big and not everyone is there for an extended period of time - usually just a quick weekend trip. Most likely do a friday early evening thing somewhere at a resort of boardwalk or something.

:rotfl: Your marathon weekend sounds like my marathon weekend. We have DH and I, a 5 month old baby, my parents, my brother (and possibly my brother's GF), DH's parents, and 2 of DH's coworkers (and two of their friends). And somehow, I've been put in charge of organizing this insanity. :lmao: At some point in early June I just started mandating stuff and sending emails, with a disclaimer that if you don't like it, you can make your own plans. I know that it will still end up in chaos with me grabbing the baby and hiding in the Living Seas in Epcot. It'll be fun. :rotfl2:

Tracy yeah i was thinking of DL countdown, love seeing them in days so i can get excited for you! Rubbish that you can't close, I don't pretend to understand your system over there, seems bonkers! I know you run in much warmer conditions and having run over there at stupid o'clock in the morning to avoid the heat I'm not sure I would cope outside of a gym in florida! It's amazing how you just deal with it when on holiday though. Our lack of Air con or even fans is what makes any bit of heat here a killer I guess. Sigh, I'll have to resign myself to staying here ha ha ha

me did speed work around our green again, a bit later in the morning tho so as not to wake neighbours. Went well and I feel like I'm getting somewhere... slowly! Spinning tomorrow!!!! We did a short walk on Tuesday. The average pace was in the 18 range but we did some short sprints and got it done to the 15 and even one 14.:cool1:
When we go out again we will have each of these short sprints last a little longer. Tonight it will be riding the exercise bike.
