View Full Version : June Exercise Challenge - Don't be "bustin' out all over"

As usual commit to as few or as many minutes of exercise as you wish to challenge yourself to do. Please post here something like "I'm at 21/400" or just 310/1000. That way I don't have to search to add up all your numbers.

I'll update as I get the chance. This month should be much calmer, I think. At present my DD18 has been dizzy and extreme headaches for nearly 2 weeks & we are waiting to see a neurologist, so that may eat away my time. Please pray we find a solution soon! thanks!

Also, please consider if you might be able to 'host' July or August. I can, but I am leaving July 20 and won't be back until Aug 10, so it may be rather sporadic posting & updating. I'm not sure I will have computer access much of that time as of yet.

Hi Julie,

I know Rose said she sent you a PM. Not sure of course if she is willing to take on both months, but I'm willing to take on one of the two. Just let me know. I hope everything is ok with your DD18. Dizziness is no fun.

Now that the wedding is over, it's time for me to recommit to exercise. I'm in for 600 minutes this month. Thanks again!

I'm only going to commit to 1500 min this month.

I'm still having problems with an injury to my left leg that slowed me up last month but so far hasn't stopped me completely. Also, we will be away for the better part of 2 weeks this month and that may cut into my exercise time some. I'm trying to plan vacation activities that involve exercise, but not all the things we plan on doing will be able to be counted as exercise.

If I am doing well by mid month, I may need to update my goal, but I'd like to see how it goes at 1500 min first.

Thank you Julie for always hosting these challenges. They are so helpful to me. I am able to do july if you need, but will be away the end of august. I hope your daughter is feeling better soon and you have some answers. You've had some tough times lately.:hug:

Put me down for 1500 minutes this month, too.
I have not had any problems making my usual 1250 minutes, but 1500 may be a challenge to squeeze in.

Thanks, Rose & CC. If y'all want to work out July & Aug that would be AWESOME, then I will pick it back up in Sept.

After months of deciding we just can't vacation this year....last year was unpaid furlough for DH, and the 1st week of this year, no raise for 2+ yrs, etc, and then college tuition, DS20 car we had to put 2 engines in & are now suing the place that put the first in and couldn't make their own built engine run(DS20 & DH are at lawyer's this morning to make sure we have a good case) ....DH finally decided we should just take it out of savings & go.

So, I am leaving on 7/20 for Tampa, staying with my DSis for a week, then DH & DD18 fly in on 7/27, we will go to shop in Orlando on 7/29, then on 7/30 (my 50th :scared1:) go to Port Canaveral & get on Carnival Dream w/ my Dsis & her DH on 7/31. We will fly home on 8/9.

I REALLY need the break! Of course, this all could quickly change if DD's head doesn't get better...more on that in my WISH journal if you're curious.

This is my first time exercising regularly in years :worried::scared::headache:
So put me down for:

Hopefully, I'll go for a walk tonight and bump that up another 20-30 mins...
I've completely changed my diet too. I was eating fast food almost everyday and making cookies and stuff for my DH all the time. It's rough when your DH is 150 lbs soaking wet and eats a lot of fried food and other yummy stuff whenever he wants :mad:. I've cut my calories (which I'm now keeping track of :eek:) to 500 less than my "maintenance amount of calories" and have figured out the proportions I need of protein, oils, and carbs. The hardest part though is trying to drink a ton of water!

Hi Julie,

Not a problem taking a month. I'm trying to get in as much exercise as possible this month. Last month was so busy with my sister's wedding that I didn't even consider setting a goal. I'm working my way back to regular exercise now and am at 85/600.

Off to update. DD still has her headache & dizzies. Saw Neurologist yesterday who has ordered an MRI - not scheduled yet. Put her on Migranol(sp?) for 3 days every 8 hours & it is really knocking her out & making her feel pretty awful....no clue if it is helping the head.

I'm running on empty & can't lose an ounce despite pushing the exercise as much as possible. My Bugg says I have a really good deficit. STRESS SUCKS!!!!

Off to update.

DD still has the headache & rocky feeling like dizziness. Had an MRI on friday, but no results yet. Tomorrow taking her to a craniofacial specialist as a niece (almost 40) had a headache for over 4 YEARS before they discovered TMJ and a fracture at the joint. DD's jaw pops, crackles, sometimes locks & the pain she has is what everyone describes as the location of TMJ pain. Maybe we are on to something.....worth the $30 to check.

Yes, Rose & CC, if you can take July & Aug, I will be back in Sept. Between DD's problem, life in general and hopefully the trip to FL and cruise I have planned, life is gonna be real hectic.

I'm at 620/1000. I don't think I'll make it, but it sure shows me how much I'm *not* working out this month. It's been busy and it is easy to skip exercising when things are hectic. This thread has been a big help. Thanks!!!

Off to update. DD18 still has the headache. Went to a craniofacial specialist. She has mild TMJ and moderate occipital neuralgia....her 3rd, 4th, 5th cranial vertebra are twisting and swollen. Neck is a tight mess. On muscle relaxers & starts neuromuscular therapy on Thurs. Hope this gets resolved before she starts college on 8/23.

Keep moving everyone! I know it's hot, but we still must MOVE!!!

Yes, I have been exercising even though I obviously haven't been here. In spite of my absence, I haven't forgotten about you!

Looks like I am not going to make goal this month. That's partly due to lower min. during our vacation, but mostly due to injury. I finally gave in and went to my ortho Dr. He gave me an injection in my left hip which I am hoping will help. I am already seeing some results, but he said it will take a couple of days. I am also going for another series of injections on my knees, but the Dr. is going on vacation so that probably won't happen for another week or so.

In the meantime, I am getting back in the pool, which he said is OK, but no impact activities so I'm going to have to get creative on the days there are too many thunderstorms in the area during the hours I usually swim. At least now I feel good enough to want to get moving again. :sunny:

Julie, I've been catching up. Hope all goes well with your DD!

I was way off. This was my first time participating and I thought 1000 would be easy. I thought wrong! For July I'm going to lower my goal so it's easily attainable. I'll go up from there each month rather than starting too high.

I've been so busy this past month, that I had not gotten around to adding up my minutes in weeks...which might have been a good thing or I'd have scared myself with all the extra workout time I did.

3669/1500 is my final report for June, easily beating any other month this year by more than double
