In our city today, children under the age of 6 were resued from a burning car by a teen girl passing by!!
The fire started in a parked car in a parking lot at the Medical Center dd and I were at for an appt. DD and I come out of the clinic after our appt, and there were a burnout shell of a car not too far from where our car was parked.
Lots of commotion and emergency crews around....found out that a father had left his three youngsters in the car while he was in the clinic for an appt.
The fire is under investigation. The gal is a true hero...she had to deal with flames, smoke, and broken glass to get those kids out.
One child was an infant strapped in a car seat.
Why, why, why do people leave their kids in cars unattended?

Thank God! The stupidity of some parents never ceases to amaze me! That teenage girl is truly a hero.

Thank goodness they are all okay! What a wonderful and heroic thing for the teen to do! I just cannot understand it when I hear of parents leaving kids alone in cars :(

Some people are so lax, Herc. And so often young children pay the price. Thankfully someone was there to help.

I am in TEARS reading your post. A 2 yr old was left in a car in Philly today, and died. It was about 96 degrees here today. It's like leaving a child in an oven!!!!!
I am so glad you posted this, as it restores some hope for humanity.....
What an angel this teenage girl is!

Oh, the short-sightedness of some parents. Risking their children's lives by leaving them in a car. Horrendous. Yes, I think that teen-age girl must have been an angel. Good for her bravery. Pretty astounding.

Thank goodness they had a guardian angel! I'm so glad to hear that the teenager was able to save them. What was the father thinking?!!!!

Yes, these children did have a guardian angel watching over them today!
The car was a small one and parked in the furthest space away from the bldg. in the corner tucked in an area with overgrown bushes..not easily seen from the nearby st.
I will post an update tomorrow aft.
BRWDenise, so sorry to hear about the baby in Philly today. Unbelievable!
