ok, so stuborn me has been having chest pains since last wed. I Know - I Know ----so i thought it would go away --- well it didnt -- so on sat. morning i said to DH --- I think i will go to the ER today to see whats going on with my heart (i can feel it flutter anytime i do anything, stand up, go upstairs, etc). Of course i wanted to see logan play in his soccer game and people were coming up to me "jennifer u dont look good --- whats the matter"
me: "Oh i am ok, i am just having chest pains"
them: "wow --- since just today -- you need to go get that checked out" Me: "no, its been going on since wed. I am ok, i will drive myself to the ER after the game"
So i went to the ER and was told i have a irregular heart beat and need to follow up with a cardiologist. and take an asprin a day
this was sat. so on Monday i called the cardiologist and got an appointment for this friday (i didnt think that was too bad) but my friends and family were really upset that it is not sooner.
so i have been in lots of pain, very tired and run down. I have shallow breathing and tightness in my chest. I have been laying off the coffee, wine, chocolate and soda :scared1: since last Thursday (still had to go out with the girls and do happy hour and girls night out trivia last week)
but this week I am under house arrest --- working only half days -- not doing the stairs at work and trying not to over do it around the house.
thanks for listening --- just feeling discouraged.......
thanks for the distractions of the disboards and all my crafting buddies...

Gurl! You take it easy. I hope it's an easy (medicatable - new word!) condition and nothing major.

hugs!!
I had something similar years ago... come to find out it was panic attacks due to stresses of buying a home (first time buyer)...however, they also did find that I have a mvp (mitro valve prolapse)... I have a valve that clicks when my heart beats.... they only can hear it when I lie down... they didn't even find it until 96 after the birth of DS14... you should have seen the look on my face at that follow up... they ran a battery of tests..but at least now I know...
Please make sure they do all the tests and don't take NO for an answer. make sure you make a list of questions to ask... how long, duration of symptoms, relief of symptoms... find out what questions friends/family and Dh would want answered.... (ask Buffy, I sent a list and she added to it when we were dealing w/ DsS15's back pain)....
Prayers/pixie dust and please keep us updated...but next time Miss L&T call the DR...ASAP!!!!! Those issues aren't to be played around with!!!!

You should really see if you can get in today after last night. It sounds like an emergency to me.

L&T,
ITA with MM2000.. you really need to call the DR this morning and explain the symptoms from last night and have them get you in today or refer you to a DR who can see you today... "we" need to get this situation resolved now....

Triple ditto.
CALL. OR JUST GO THERE. NOW.
Our family lives with significant cardiac issues every day of our lives - please don't delay. Women have VERY different cardiac symptoms from men for the same conditions - some things turn out to be minor, some not. With the symptoms you're reporting, I am stunned that your docs did not fast track you to get in there much more quickly.
Please go. :grouphug:

(ask Buffy, I sent a list and she added to it
yep, asking people who are not in the middle of it come up with other questions.
IF you get worse you need to get to Hartford hospital or Yale New Haven, don't mess around
Are you running a fever?
Do you think you could have pneumonia?
DH has the same symptoms but no cough, turned out he had pneumonia.
Now for the scolding.......
If it were one of the boys would you have put it off or would you take them to the Dr immediately???
Why do we, as women, put or health last???? Who the heck is going to do our job if we are gone???
Get proactive Jen!! Do not get off the phone with the cardio guy until you have an appt today!!!!!!!!

Take some advice from a cardiac nurse. Don't play with your heart. I know we all think that we will be ok, but make sure. Good luck. I am sending pixiedust:pixiedust: to you.

i went and did a stress test today and they didnt find anything major --- so frustrating --- they dont know what is causing it -- i have to wear a 24 hour heart monitor on tuesday, so i left the office with no suggestions, or answers. still feeling tired and tightness in my chest. I have an appointment with a new PCP on June 11 --- lets see if i can survive that long.....

No xrays to see if it is pneumonia? Did they at least listen to your lungs?
Did they do blood work to see if you have markers for past/present heart attacks?
Go knock some heads.

I was thinkin' the same thing.. when I went to the dr.. I went to ER..
X-ray for pneumonia
EKG
Echo
blood work
every other test they ran...
logan&tylersmama
05-28-2010, 09:27 PM
when i went to the er last weekend they did blood work -- a chest xray and had me hooked up to the ekg --- left with a suggestion of an asprin a day and follow up with a cardio. went to cardio today --- blood pressure perfect, EKG looked good sitting and running on treadmill, -- come back next tuesday to wear 24 hour monitor, follow up with PCP
welll ---- i dont have a PCP --- So today i called around and the soonest i can get in is in 2 weeks.
my friend ran some blood work on me and she said my thyriod is underactive --- so i will share that info with the new PCP in 2 weeks.
still feeling pressure and FRUSTRATED!!!! having a glass of wine -- and playing with my cricut.
thanks for all the well wishes ---- i will keep you posted....
jennifer
Jennifer, you are stubborn, if this was one of your kids, you would have had them seen right away. Well, you need to take care of yourself so you can take care of them!!!

Where is that magic wand???
I want to wave it over you and make everything all better.
I know you hate not knowing even more than we do. Pixie Dust we get answers soon.
PrincessNancy96
05-29-2010, 09:53 AM
Ok, so they have ran some of those test.... make sure you call and have all those results sent to your PCP ASAP (even though you won't be there for 2 weeks)....this will allow him/her to review those tests and possibly work you in that schedule sooner if need be.
I wish you had answers already... I'm sure it's hard not knowing.. Heck, I know it was hard when I didn't know... Now that I know what triggers my anxiety (that felt like heart issues) I avoid them.. DH deals w/ all big money decisions and buying... I just drive the vehicle, sign my name and work it in the budget... Although he does get a limit from me.. I just can't handle the negotiations....

OK, Jen it is now Wed - and unless i have missed another thread or posting, you must have had the 24 heart monitor on and off by now. Any news????
logan&tylersmama
06-02-2010, 06:28 PM
well -- i wore the 24 hour monitor yesterday and today and turned it into the dr this afternoon -- not sure when they will let me know the results -- still feeling tired, and lots of pressure and still some pain. Need to pull it together because we are taking a group to vermont from Friday until monday night --- i need the extra money to buy train tickets to take the kids to see my dad for 2 weeks in aug. and i might as well feel poorly in vermont and get paid for it instead of feeling poorly here at home for free.
i have an appointment with a new PCP next tuesday..... taking on day at a time and hoping to feel better and have more energy soon.... thanks for all the nice thougths and prayers

i think we will be in manchester vt. I am going with some great friends/staff who really love me and they are already maping out all the routes to emergency places --- they are also not going to let me over do it --- should be a nice distraction....

Jennifer that's good to know. that area is fairly well populated, not far from rutland. Our main hospital Dartmouth Hitchcock is in lebanon NH but they have 2 helicopters now (not that you'll need them cause you are taking it easy). It's a good 1-2 hours from me. No easy way to get there from my side of the state.

Hey Jen - what is happening with your health? You promised to let us know and an entire week has now gone by!!!

UPDATE: sorry I haven't posted- dropped my laptop down the stairs--posting from my I pod now. (BTW - My laptop has all the kids pictures on it --- not sure how i am going to recover them)
Vermont went well -- the clients had a blast --- I over did it and was wiped out all week. _It was like i had a hangover with out the benifit of drinking.
My Tests all came back negative-- mamogram was fine, iron fine, blood pressure perfect, cholesteral great, wore 24 hour EKG -no issues, stress test perfect, did16 viles of blood last week-- Lyme and a few other tests pending-- could have a virus in my heart--still very tired all the time and lots of pressure in my chest and around my left breast is very sore---- so no answers is very frustrating. I need to work on end of the year teacher gifts and have no energy. Thanks for all the kind thoughts-- I am used to being the care giver-- not the other way around
Take it easy until you start feeling better. Your body is telling you to rest.
