I'm not a great planner.. so I didn't do a planning journal. In fact, I left most decisions until the last minute. Thank goodness for wedding planners! But, these boards helped us so much in making the decision to have a Disney wedding and in inspiring me that I wanted to contribute back with our experiences and ideas.
Let's start with reviews, shall we?
Ken Weaver/Jen Flores - I was really excited when we were assigned Ken as our wedding planner because I remembered him as "the guy from the Food Network special". There is a reason they put him on TV - he is very good at what he does. We both felt incredibly comfortable putting things in his and Jen's hands. They made us feel so at ease with everything. Jen deserves equal credit; she was always answering e-mails promptly and in the days leading up to the wedding she helped calmed my nerves about the increasing chance of rain (more on that later!). I don't know we could have pulled all of this off without the two of them! Major bonus points to them as well for orchestrating all of the day-of changes without any hiccups at all. It was an amazingly smooth process.
Disney Floral/Laura Kidd - Laura was so nice, I wish I could give her all gold stars but I she lost some "warm and fuzzy" point when she got our names wrong.. twice. In our PS she called Jeff "Jeremy", which we took in good spirits and joked around about. However, when our estimate came it was outlined for Jeff and Allyson. Maybe it was the mood I was in, but it wasn't funny anymore. It did all get worked out, but if I am being honest, that did impact my overall view of her. Otherwise I loved our bouquets and the decor. She/Floral did a great job as well with the last minute change as well, you'd have never known it wasn't planned that way!
Beaute Speciale - I had Ana for my trial, and Ana, Laine and Carrie for the day of services. I wish I could go hang out with them for a day. Not only are the immensely talented, but they are a riot. It felt like we had three friends in the room; we laughed and chatted and they really made everything feel light and easy. Everyone loved their hair and make-up and it really lasted - even through several (and I do mean several) tears on my end, my make-up stayed perfect.
Studio 222 - I love Nate and Becka! I cannot accurately express how happy we are with the decision to book Studio 222. If I had to re-do the whole wedding over again and could only keep one thing from the original (aside from Jeff, of course!), it would be Nate and Becka. I adore their work, they are fabulous people -- and well, I think their photos speak for themselves.
Rev. Miller - A+ We aren't terribly religious people and originally we were going to go with a notary, but I knew that having our ceremony be officiated by a minister of some type was important to some members of our family (ahem, hi mom). We went with the contemporary ceremony from Rev. Miller and he had no problem at all with us altering his script and adding personal elements. He made us feel so at ease and balanced the perfect amount of humor and sincerity in the ceremony.
Coming up later in the trip report... We're late for a very important date!, Hoop-Dee-Dooing it Rehearsal dinner, A Very Mad Surprise!, Somebody's Getting Married...

Thank you all so much for reading along so far!!
Tip: Planning arrivals, welcome bag distribution, rehearsal, welcome event, and rehearsal dinner all in the same day will leaved you a crazy stressed out mess
Our wedding was on a Monday. The tricky thing with Monday weddings is that you have to arrive the previous Friday at the latest if you want to drop off your stuff at Franck's, so arrive on Friday is what we did. Jeff's parents own DVC and they were incredibly generous with offering up several 2-bedrooms and studios at AKV for our guests. They also gave us a studio for two nights before we moved to the Contemporary. Our flight was fairly early, so instead of giving us a studio in the same area as the rest of the family was assigned to, they gave us one that was ready. The upside: ready room, savannah view (woohoo!). The downsize: You know BFE? We joked that it was 5 miles past that. I had no idea Kidani was so large! We estimated that it was almost 1/2 mile walk from the lobby.
We unpacked, dropped off our items at Franck's and headed for some down time in the parks before what would be a very busy few days.
(Honestly, I am trying to write this review but I keep getting distracted by Toddlers and Tiaras... this show is a trainwreck!!!!)
Everyone was arriving on Friday, including our caravan of drivers hauling stuff down. They arrived bright and early, about the time we were finishing up breakfast at Mara. We hopped the cushman cart and made our way back to Kidani to meet the van. I felt really bad for Bell Services; there was a lot of stuff. And a lot of stuff going to different rooms. The Welcome Bags were going to our room (in BFE); the other stuff, including the S'mores Packs to be assembled were to go to one of the 2-bedroom villas. Except the room wasn't ready.

Mind you, these photos are after two luggage racks had already been fully loaded.
The one thing I am glad we did is pack most of the welcome bags before we left. The only things that needed to be added were papers (so they didn't bend) and name tags and pins. I really loved our welcome bags and we were super excited to see people actually using them. It got to the point where someone would say "It's in the yellow bag." "Which ONE!?" LOL
Some of my favorite custom stuff came in the welcome bags, including the name tags, postcard, itinerary and custom celebration buttons:

Once the Welcome bags were completed it was a mad dash to try and get them delivered and check on the s'mores pack committee. Did I mention that everyone else was on the other side of Kidani? We got our exercise....

Toddlers and Tiaras is such a train wreck. I was just watching it and Jason walked in the room saying "If we ever have a daughter, you are NEVER going to do that". I told him not to worry :rotfl:
AKV is huge. That's our home DVC resort and it's ridiculous how big it is. My mom doesn't like it because of that fact and always complains.:rolleyes1
Anyways on to your welcome bags, they were fantastic! If you don't mind me asking, where did you get them made? And where did you get the celebrating buttons made? Very cute touches :)

Thank you so much, everyone! Glad to have you along for the report.
It's fess up time! We do this kind of stuff for a living. :lmao: Jeff is a web/graphic design and I work as a print coordinator in creative marketing. We designed everything (with some inspiration from Disney, of course!) We spent many nights at our laptops pouring over Illustrator/Photoshop/InDesign but I am totally thrilled with the results. We loved the buttons so much we are considering opening up an Etsy shop to sell custom celebration buttons.

We designed the logo and had them printed on the bags with a specialty company via my FIL. I can find out the name if you want. The downside is we had to order 75 bags so we have a ton left over!

As we finished up the welcome bags the rooms at Kidani started becoming available so we hand delivered as many bags as we could for those staying there. Being ever so slightly OCD I placed each one perfectly staggered against the pillows on each bed. We still had a box of welcome bags going to Coronado, so we met up with the S’mores Packing Crew. The Crew consisted of Jeff’s aunt, uncle, cousins and their grandma’s who so amazingly offered to help assemble the little individual s’mores packs for our welcome gathering.
(Also, credit where credit is due – the same aunt and uncle were the mastermind crafters behind the Mickey bar name tags! Hi Aunt Linda!)
http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4020/4615719977_93290e5713.jpg
The s’mores packs contained a two graham cracker halves, a mini Hershey bar (larger than fun size, but smaller than full size) and the biggest marshmallow I have ever seen. The thing was seriously about 2-2.5" long! Major kudos to my MIL for finding these gigantic fluffy sugar clouds of joy!

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3377/4616336746_8722ed1fc4.jpg
Since one box of welcome bags was theirs, we handed it over to them and they were gracious enough to take the other box of welcome bags to Coronado. I believe they were able to drop them off at concierge and let them know the reservation name the bags went to (Aunt Linda, you can jump in and comment if I am wrong J). Everyone received their bags without a hitch, and for that I was immensely grateful. With everything else going on I know I would have been a crazy person trying to locate missing welcome bags.
We finally had a little bit of downtime so we settled for a bit in Jeff’s parents 2-bedroom while I frantically checked flightarrivals.com for everyone’s incoming status. Now, I take full responsibility: I booked my family’s flight. How I thought they could arrive at MCO at 2:30, hop ME, arrive at Kidani, get settled and be ready to leave for the rehearsal by 4pm, I don’t know. I must have been harboring delusions of grandeur. It was nearing 3:00 and they were only just getting to the ME area at MCO. The realization of my poor planning was starting to hit and my anxiety levels began to rise. Unfortunately, I couldn't do anything to make them arrive any faster so the best thing for both Jeff and I to do was return to our room (with a quick hello to the bridal party that had arrived) and freshen up/change for the rehearsal.
We told everyone to meet in the lobby at 4pm; it was 4:10 and we were still our room in BFE. As we scrambled down the hallway and into the lobby we found the bridal party dutifully waiting when we arrived; everyone, including my parents, who had arrived on the 2:30 flight was only now just checking in. Panic was slowly starting to sink in. It was 4:15, we needed to take busses to the Board Walk and all I could think of was that line in the BEO about events starting more than 15 minutes late would be canceled.
We greeted our new arrivals in the lobby with hugs and smiles that said "I'm really trying hard not to have a panic right now, how are you?".
My poor family. Most of them hadn't been to Disney; none of them had ever stayed DVC. They were quite in awe of their massive 2-bedroom walking from room-to-room with a lot of "Oh my gosh, did you see this?" and my niece and nephew wanted to just stay and rifle through their welcome bags. I, meanwhile, found myself pacing up and down the hallway, in and out of their room, between their two bedroom and Jeff's parents two bedroom all with a lot of "We have to go! Please, really, we have. to. go."
Once we got everyone organized it was too late for busses so we loaded everyone into two taxi vans and sped off to the Board Walk. My poor family got stuck in the van with the cabbie who didn’t see the need for air conditioning. I’ve also never noticed how short Disney traffic lights are. One of those things you don’t notice when you are sitting on a bus!

It's a TRAP!
We arrived at the Board Walk and made a mad dash for Sea Breeze Point. The bridal party was already there (they had gotten there before us and didn't have to maneuver two wheelchairs and two EVC's) - as was Ken and this strange gentleman I’d not seen before. He was bald and slightly muscular and as I got closer I thought to myself “This is NOT Rev. Miller! Rev Miller has curly hair!” Well, Rev. Miller it was (man, I totally forgot to review him…. Editing the first post now) and the ladies they were a-swoonin’! Especially my grandmother – who I call Elizabeth Taylor for a reason – and it’s not because they are lookalikes
(And I totally just realized I forgot to review Rev. Miller....
As I had mentioned in my review I had called Jen slightly pani.. um, concerned about the forecast for the wedding day. First thing, Ken pulled us aside to go over some alternate ideas for our ceremony décor in the ballroom should the weather, as he put it, “not cooperate”. We agreed to the ideas and it was time to start rehearsing the ceremony.
I had mentioned to my mom on the ride over that I was disappointed to not have a bow bouquet since I hadn’t had a shower. While we were talking to Ken, my mom and sister defaced Disney property and stole some flowers from the grounds and wrapped them with a tablecloth to make me a bouquet! Normally I would be appalled at defacing Disney property but I couldn’t help but laugh! It was very cute of them to make me a practice bouquet and it really just lightened the mood and lifted my spirits.
So.. we rehearsed!

(Also, credit where credit is due – the same aunt and uncle were the mastermind crafters behind the Mickey bar name tags! Hi Aunt Linda!)
Hi! It's Jeff and now officially Morgan's Aunt Linda adding her two cents. We loved making the Mickey bar name tags and we're thrilled they came out to Morgan's liking !!!
You are right! It was a piece of cake taking the box of welcome bags to the concierge. I'll admit now I was a little nervous about that task! After arriving at Kidani Village to find that the rooms weren't ready and we were making s'mores bags in a little waiting room off the lobby...and stress and emotions in full force already....I was trying to remain calm when Morgan asked me to take the welcome bags back to Coronado. I walked into the lobby of Coronado like I knew what I was doing and went to the concierge and said "These bags need to get delivered to the 'Smith' room" (and I kept my fingers crossed!) The concierge searched the computer and said "here they are, I'll make sure they are delivered; have a magical day." Yippee!
Darn it! Another thing I forgot to bring! I saw on one of your blogs you mentioned that you wouldn't have a bow bouquet and I was going to make you one!

Great instalment! It is really nice to see that you had all of those people helping you out to get your welcome bags delivered. And it is great that Disney magic helped you get them delivered without a hitch!
I am sorry to hear about the anxiety you had over getting to your rehearsal. It is really hard to plan around flights, but I am glad that it worked out and you got to have your rehearsal!

Aunt Linda here...since Morgan's not posting I thought I would (We're all patiently waiting...)
I just wanted to say that Morgan was the most beautiful bride (and Jeff was handsome too)! If she was nervous or stressed, it didn't show. She may have felt stressed on the day everyone arrived but she seemed in control. From some of the stuff I saw going on around her, that's commendable!!
And for the record, the pictures of the printed material she and Jeff put together do not do it justice. I think some people thought it was "official" stuff. It was amazing. I can't wait to see what they come up with next because I don't think anything can top the wedding program and "fast pass" placecard details. I was excited when I was able to figure out the coding on the bottom of the fast pass....but I was ashamed of myself when I realized from this report that the "postcard" in our welcome back was real (oops, I thought it was just a little souvenior postcard--shame on me).
Great job Jeff and Morgan -- uh, I mean Morgan and Jeff!

I think the best advice I saw from other brides on the DIS was to get a team of people to help you assemble and distribute. I'm not great at delegating but I am so glad I did!

Now where was I? Oh yes, we rehearsed, and then it was time for our welcome event: campfire and sch’moes (bonus points if you get this reference!) at Fort Wilderness.
The last (and only, come of think of it) time we had been to the campfire sing-a-long at Ft. Wilderness it was October. There was a decent amount of people, but not too crowded. There were plenty of seats and room to properly burn your marshmallow at the two campfires on either side. In never occurred to either of us that in May, when the weather is warmer, and on a Saturday night, the place would be packed. We walked up with our gaggle of guests in tow and I almost stopped short when I saw the gobs of people everywhere. And the festivities hadn’t even officially started yet!
We managed to wrangle ourselves one of the bleachers. I walked over to the chuck wagon and bought 30 sticks and a case of cold bottled water and began distributing sticks, water and s’mores packs to our guests. Our guests were a little overwhelmed at first, I think, but eventually they started getting up and going over to the campfire. It was fun watching everyone get gooey and messy eating their s’mores (did I mention my genius MIL bought wet-naps for each s’mores pack as well?).
I was completely dumb and never remembered to take a picture of the s’more packs. Honestly, I was still a little stressed at that point – and I also had random strangers coming up to me because someone was telling people that if you wanted sticks you the “CM in the blue dress was giving them out”.

Now Morgan, you are saying to yourself, it’s Saturday and you are getting married on Monday. Why are you rehearsing and rehearsal dinnering two days early?
Simple, my friends. Simple. It’s called sangria. It’s called all-you-can-drink sangria. Hungover girls and boys do not make attractive bridal parties and it was with great forethought that we decided to have our rehearsal dinner two nights early.
Hoop-Dee-Doo is a tradition with us. Where there is a trip to WDW, there is a stop at Hoop-Dee-Doo. I have a not-so-secret ambition to play Claire de Lune. We’ve never stayed sober enough to decide if the show is actually that funny or if it’s the sangria that makes it funny. We miss the Dolly Drew we had for years and who seemingly retired two years ago. We still agree that the funniest Sixpence was the guy who played the part around Christmas of 2005. And it’s not unusual for me to randomly break out lines from the show…. “but alas, she was no swimmer…”
One of the things I was most excited about was the photo. Behold epic group photo! (I need go back and Photoshop the people who weren't smiling... ;))
http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4040/4635906393_3f335f213c.jpg
They sort of clustered all of us together on the right, toward the back. Being the HDD junkies that we are, we are spoiled and usually right up against the stage. It didn’t matter, we still got some major HDD love!
Clearly unaware of this photo being taken...
http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4069/4635932141_4d87d643d0.jpg
Our waitress, Heather, was amazing! She enjoyed our excitement and kept the sangria coming!
Best man Nick got cozied up to by Claire.

And of course when they asked for anniversaries, honeymoons, etc… everyone in our group was eager to point out to Miss Flora that it was our rehearsal dinner. Flora made a big fuss over us and our upcoming vows and we danced with all of the other couples to Let Me Call You Sweetheart.
Flora wears a looooooooot of eyeliner

We were laughing, eating, and getting ready to enjoy our strawberry shortcake when I heard a chorus of “Oh my god, Morgan!” I turned to follow all of the pointing and there was Claire de Lune and my DAD walking toward the stage. To give you some background, my dad is really a big teddy bear, but he’s reserved, often grumpy and definitely not the type to volunteer for something like this.
I was shocked and over the moon. I had seen the show so many times I knew exactly what character he was going to come out as…. Davey’s Angel!!

Morgan and Jeff Got Married encourages responsible drinking. Please do not drink and drive or operate heavy machinery. Be aware that anything caught on video tape, including your crazy, wedding-inspired version of ‘Tik Tok’, may show up on the internet. Additionally, inebriation does not qualify you to play Disney Tour Guide for the entire bus on your return trip to AKV.

You are genius for having the rehearsal dinner 2 days before the wedding Morgan! I love the HDDR and had been many times, but honestly I haven't been since I was 8. It was one of my dad's favorite shows (he too played Davy Crockett's angel) and I just haven't emotionally been able to go back. (Oh and my grandpa LOVED Dolly! LOL!) But, I love that it's one of your family traditions and that you were able to incorporate something so important and so "Disney" into your wedding weekend. We hand delivered to the people staying at the same hotel as us. The rest were dropped off at concierge at CSR with the reservation name. If we had more guests not staying at AKV I probably would have tied them/boxed them together with the reservation name/ressie# clearly marked.

Sunday: Our Mad Bridal Shower!
Now I must admit, our bridal shower was mostly a surprise. I say mostly because we were clued in before hand that the shower would be at Disney. My bridesmaids and the moms could only string me on so long before they felt guilty and confessed to the surprise. That was the only detail I was given (Jeff was consulted on the whole thing!) but once we received a very generically themed invite instructing us to be at the Whitehall patio on Sunday… I started to get an idea of what was going on.
Sunday also happened to be the morning we were moving from AKV to the Contemporary, so in addition to getting ready for the shower we were packing our stuff up. Unfortunately, bell services was a little more behind than we anticipated and so our plans of taking the bus to MK and hopping the monorail was out. We had to hail another cab to the GF (I’ve never used so many taxi’s at Disney!) and of course we were running late!
We pulled up to the convention center and made our way to the Whtiehall patio. I saw Ken standing at the end of a line of glass paneled French doors and as I passed each door my eyes grew bigger and bigger until they were filled with tears by the time I walked out to the patio.

Then it was time to eat and there was a ton of food!! Fruit, scones, tarts, three types of sandwiches, chocolate covered strawberries, salad. There was food that I didn’t even know we had until after the shower was over and I was walking back down the table going “Oh my gosh, we had ?!?!” I had a centerpiece blocking my view!

Once everyone had gotten their fill of food, we moved on to shower games. There was an Alice in Wonderland trivia game and a game to see how well Jeff and I knew each other. What that game revealed is not that we know each other well, but rather that Jeff can’t pick a favorite anything.
After the games we took some time to look over the scrapbook our family and friends had made for us. The first half had photos of the two of us throughout our relationship and the second half consisted of pages made by individual family and friends with notes, favorite memories and more photos.

Jeff’s uncle lives in China and he sent us some cool Disney items from China. We think it’s a game but we actually aren’t too sure.

And like that, it was time to wrap up and head to our new digs at the Contemporary. We had so much fun and it was such a dream come true to have a shower like this!! I couldn't have asked for anything more exciting!

What a fantastic surprise!! And btw your mom rocks at centerpieces!! They were so cute! I love the whole "golden afternoon" flowers. I <3 the white rabbit and your face was just priceless when he entered. Totally can't wait to see more. (oh, and I've decided that we are going to go to the HDDR on one of our next trips to WDW so thanks!) :goodvibes

Wow! What a fabulous party! Is your mom a pro? Those centerpieces are adorable. How'd she put those together on vacation?!
Also, I must know where you got your dress—SO cute! :goodvibes

Your shower looks so amazing! I can just imagine how excited you must have been, seeing as you are a huge Alice fan. Your family did a good job of surprising you and adding in those extras. Your mom also did a great job with the centrepieces!

The "golden afternoon" centerpiece was my favorite too. I thought they would start talking any moment. "Just what specie, or shall we say, genus, are you, my dear?" "Well, I suppose you could call me a genus... humanus.. Alice!" :lmao:

She's not a pro, she just has that crafty gene! She didn't pass it along to me, sadly. I can make friends with the Adobe Creative Suite, but put me in Michaels and I am like a lost sheep. She made the centerpieces at home and then my IL's drove down so they were able to transport them.
My dress is from Macy's. It's a Calvin Klein dress and it comes in a billion colors so if pink isn't your thing I am sure you can find a color that is.
The centerpieces are amazing - what a lovely, lovely suprise. Food looks yummy! Your outfit was so cute and went with the theme perfectly.
Thank you! The food was yummy and there were tons of leftovers. I wish we had smuggled in take-out containers to keep some of the fruit and sandwiches. It's so awful seeing stuff go to waste, you know?
That's my tip for this entry: if you have a bridal tea smuggle in tupperware!

Everyone did amazing and they were so good at hiding every thing from me! One guest did slip up the day before and mention about a tea party, but it still didn't ruin the surprise!

Oh gosh yes, I could have just skipped the wedding and been happy with just the shower. :rotfl: It's probably a good thing I didn't know about it in advance because I am dorky enough to have worn an Alice dress (just kidding! maybe...:rotfl:)
This is probably the most amazing bridal shower I've seen. Those centerpieces are beyond awesome--I love the flowers with eyes! just like the movie!!!
Thank you! I just read your LJ bio and it is hysterical! I love the bit about eating overpriced cake. You are so funny!

I had a lot of catching up to do!
Seeing your rehearsal dinner made me want to go to HDDR! In fact, I think I need to try it this trip.
And you are so smart for having it a couple days before the wedding! My DH got a bit drunk at our rehearsal and let's just say it was a good thing we had a late wedding the next day!
Your shower was amazing! It all just looked so perfect!

ok.
1) i think we are hijacking your wedding cake. it is beyond.
2) i need to get some runway moves from you because, girlfriend, you are working it! you guys look great!
i've peeked at your TR before and saw your pics before but never saw the wedding cake. tell me more? pretty please?
and now you are making me reconsider some of the tall flowers for outdoor decor for the prereception. and i have a basic price out on the short flowers and we are already over budget.
*sigh*
gorgeous!

I just got threw reading your PJ. Everything was just so perfect. I had wanted a mad tea party and was thinking of scratching the idea but after seeing your pics it just reaffirms how much I would love this element. And you had donald at your reception. So funny cause my DF had mentioned wanting donald of all the characters cause he remembers donald from a character breakfast he went to when he was 5. And Donald looks great in his tux. So we have to get him.
