So school has ended(yay for graduation!) and I've been lurking long enough! Its time to start a PJ.

Moving right along...THE DRESS
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v31/angelicme13/wedding/th_100_2177.jpg (http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v31/angelicme13/wedding/?action=view&current=100_2177.jpg)

I love it!:lovestruc That by the way is not my veil or my head piece just something to try on.

hmmm...what am I missing? . . . .OH! I suppose I'm missing the story of us! Yes!

Well it all started about 3 years ago. I was 19 and a server at a restaurant called Cheeseburger in Paradise. He was 23 and rooming with the female bartender because they had been friends forever. Soon he got a job as a bus boy more for social purposes than anything else (he already had a 9-5) He soon began dating another one of the servers who happened to have the same last name as me and for some reason didn't like me much at all. We'll call her Jen. So Eric and I became friends in the way that people at work do. Meanwhile, Jen felt threatened and couldn't handle Eric being friends with me. She fought with him regularly about me, all of this aside from her other crazy antics. When Eric finally made me aware of the situation it was much too late. No matter if we ignored each other at work or if we joked around like normal she would always find something to nitpick and yell at him for. After 3 months they broke up :yay: and 3 months after that Eric and I began dating! Ever since we have been inseparable and he proposed January 30, 2010 while we were sitting on the couch at 2am:rotfl:

Yay! Right now we're waiting for June 1st to have our lottery because of the new 16 month rule, Other than that Save the Dates are in progress and I can't wait to post pictures of those!

so today is June 1st! the day many of us Disney brides have been waiting for! My location and date have officially been submitted to be approved. I should be able to continue with the paperwork on Thursday!:yay:
So in honor of these developments I thought I'd update!
STYLE BOARD!http://www.dessy.com/data/styleboard/b_25662_snapshot.jpg
I'll only have 3 Bridesmaids but I'm going to give them a choice of those 4 dresses. My lovely groom will be wearing the green bowtie as pictured above, that was his choice!:thumbsup2 and the groomsmen will be wearing the european style ties, cause no one is allowed to wear a bowtie like him!:rotfl: but all the suits will be tan like the groomsmen one shown above.
I also plan to make my own bouquet out of preserved flowers but I want it to look something like that.

Those bridesmaid dresses are really cute :lovestruc and that green is really different, I don't think I've seen a wedding with that shade, it looks really good! Especially with that yellow!

Thanks guys! I love those dresses. I <3 inverted pleats! lol That shade of green is called appletini! love it! Initially the yellow was supposed to be more of a gold because of the gold accents in my dress but I'm thinking about incorporating that yellow now just cause it looks so good! lol

So there are a few little updates. I emailed Root Photography because I can't find anything that even compares to their photos!:lovestruc but I got an out of office reply so I'm still waiting to hear back from them. I think they're out of our price range but I'll find something to cut just to have them. Plus I heard they give a discount to Disney couples..can anyone confirm that?

Other than that I got a wedding website set up to get some preliminary RSVPs in. I know Disney gives you a site but I don't know when that will be set up and I need a URL to put on the Save the Dates and I don't know how useful it will actually be. The site is www.mywedding.com/ericandlarisa

The other thing is I've been doing some test runs with the save the dates and they're looking awesome! I can't wait to post pictures! THey're going to be little suitcases!!

Congrats on booking the roots! They were out of my budget :guilty:but I love looking at their pictures!

The church in Corpus Christi is so pretty- I love how it looks right out at the water!

Are your bridesmaids dresses from J Crew? I am looking for something similar but I can't find any styles that I like at the traditional bridal places.

They were originally out of my budget too but I moved a few things around and decided to use my bonus from work to get them! I haven't actually seen the church yet in person! lol My parents are down there now (so jealous) and they should be coming home with pictures for me! The dresses are actually from Dessy (www.dessy.com) they have a ton of different dresses and colors!

Originally I was going to do my own floral out of tapioca wood flowers and parchment floweres and preserved roses but it started to look a little expensive so I have been looking at outside florists to get an idea of how much it would cost for this project to be someone else's headache!:lmao:
So far I have contacted lee forrest (no response yet) Atmosphere florals ( I like debbie and I have a proposal from her) and dream designs florals (who I have a phone consultation scheduled for Thursday!) So soon I'll let every one know how that goes!

I love the floral inspiration pics! Your bouquet is going to look lovely! I know that Puente0629 (I think I got that right) is using an outside florist (that she has been really happy with), and she is really helpful, so if you need anything I am sure she would lend a hand.

Wow. I love everything you have done so far. I love the green you have picked, very fresh and vibrant. Bow tie is very cool. I woud love to get Chris to wear one but he is a casual outfit kinda guy so I don't think it's gonna happen somehow.

Also, your bouquet idea is gorgeous, very vintage looking. I'll definately be reading along with you:goodvibes

I got my contract in my email today. good right? not so much :headache:
I read the whole thing and some of the numbers were off. We're having our cocktail hour from 1-2 and our reception begins at 2. Everything I've discussed with my consultant has communicated that we will be under the lunch minimums. Which means $100pp for F&B and $10,000 overall...except it says $125pp for F&B and $12,000 overall:mad: Really? I wait 2 weeks for this document that is I'm sure is fairly standard and I finally get it and its wrong?!? I know its no big deal but not only was it wrong but I called her, not 10 minutes after the document was sent to have it corrected and she didn't answer. Whatever, its just aggravating.

*Pixiedust1438*
07-22-2010, 02:57 PM
My contract was all messed up too. I emailed my consultant and told him everything that needed to be changed and he told me just to change it myself with pen and then they would fix it... so I hope they really fix everything. I can totally see why you are aggravated. You are spending a lot of money so things should be done right! I'm sure they will fix it for you but I know how you feel after waiting so long the last thing you want is mistakes.

Wow, if they told me that I would have used a red pen and the brightest highlighter I could find! and i'd keep a copy for myself! lol I'm glad someone else understand my frustration!

She did fix it right away, as a matter of fact she emailed me the revised version today! I intend to send it in on Saturday because I'm not going to see DF until then so he can sign it.

The only other thing is The STDs say Yacht Club and last time I checked Ariel's was in the Beach Club, but I'm wondering if I should even worry about it. I mean people might look at it once and never look at it again and I guarantee that almost no one will remember what the STD said. Its just a matter of technicalities and things being "correct" but in the same vein, if people do remember and it's wrong I don't want that to cause confusion.:sad2:

I plan on wearing it with my hair back and in curls and little volume/wave/curl(s) in the front, very vintage-y...but thats pretty much how the whole thing is working out lol

I bought it on etsy and its from the 1930s! I'm so excited I found such a unique vintage piece and it was only $22!!
That frees up a lot of my accessories budget for shoes!! lol:rotfl:

Just caught up on your PJ - thanks for posting on mine! I love, love, love your bridesmaid dresses and the fact that there are 4 different styles to choose from. I think a lot of people offer choices these days but a friend of mine (in her late 40s) was just in a wedding where her dress looked like a bad prom dress (think watermelon pink strapless mini skirt :scared1:). Everyone wore the same style and she was sooo bummed about it because they offered different styles in the same color. Very considerate of you - and fun color!

Your Save the Dates were completely adorable. They looked like a lot of work but I bet everyone loved them! Did you keep one for yourself? I would have! :)

As I mentioned in my PJ, your dress is great and now, seeing your headpiece, it is all coming together nicely! Love that vintage feel! Waiting for the next update...popcorn::

Thank you! that bridesmaid dress dilemma is exactly what I didn't want to end up with! If you pick it its your problem right?! lol j/k:lmao: I did keep a couple extra of the STDs! lol I couldn't let all those babies go! Thanks for the compliment on the dress! I was actually very anti-halter when I found it but I fell in love with the rest of the dress and I figured if worse come to worse I can always have it made into a strapless!

Soooo...Im having dress doubts...Well lets start from the beginning.

I called the dress shop tuesday. I wanted to let them know that I was gonna come up and pickup/pay off my dress. I get this message that says "this number has been temporarily disconected." um, excuse me...what do you mean disconnected? I immediately think of those horror stories that you hear of brides who have given dress shops all this money and the store goes out of business and they have no dress and no money. So I drive up there like a mad woman. I get there and they're open, they're switching service providers...ok no big, crisis averted. I paid and went to look at shoes while the woman got my dress. She comes to get me and picks up the dress and marches straight out the door to my car. Didn't even unzip the bag so I could see it. I get home and try it on and I don't feel the same way I did when I bought it. Theres no:wizard:. and i start thinking about how this is my only chance to wear a princess dress and I've never done it before, I'll never have the chance to do it again. And then I feel like this: :sad1:

I talked to my mom about it this morning. She thinks I've just "moved on" that I more into the rest of the planning and this isn't what I'm excited about anymore(but I want to be excited about my dress). She keeps telling me its a gorgeous dress( I'm not doubting that its beautiful) and it's totally me (its very unlike her to endorse anything as "me") that even when I was looking for a dress for my first communion she wanted to put me in a poofy dress and I wanted nothing of the sort. So i'm just really puzzled right now...I'm gonna go look at other dresses tomorrow, maybe I'll cure myself. I think I might need to detach myself from it. If not there may be a dress for sale soon.

That being said here are some pictures. The back

I honestly think it's completely normal to be thinking that way about your dress. I found my dress the first night we looked, cried, had the whole "feeling", etc. Didn't want to commit so I looked around for two months until I realized nothing would come close. Bought it, and now it's hanging in my closet (the wedding isn't until February). And NOW I have that "I wonder if..." feeling. Which is ridiculous, I love(d?) my dress. I don't think you're crazy!

I think the dress looks beautiful and remember buying a wedding dress is like dating, once you find the right one you stop looking, lol. I started having the same doubts but when I went to try it on again, it made me feel great...I didn't get that magical crying moment you first have again but it made me feel the way I want to look. :thumbsup2

I would ry on the dress again, with everything...head piece, jewelry, shoes etc., deck urself out and you might get the feeling back. Worse comes to worse, wear it for the reception and buy urself a new gown for the ceremony.

The pictures don't do it justice!(they're cell phone pics) Now I come to a new dilemma...If I buy this dress am I going to look too formal against his tan suit and green tie? or will it be ok? Also this dress is $1240:scared1: Thats more than my original dress. Plus I'd have to pay to have the bustle put in. I asked about buying the sample and they only take off10% which is $124. I forgot to ask what designer it was cause I might be able to find it online cheaper so now I'm searching all over the internet.

Honest opinions please!

Hi Larisa! I love the new dress. I don't it will be too formal for what your soon-to-be husband will be wearing.

Do not worry about it being too formal for what ur hubby to be will be wearing...my sister wore a formal form fitting mermaid wedding dress and it did not clash with her hubby's tan suit.

Here's a pic of my sister...

Sorry to hear you are having a hard time with this! I really like both dresses, so I can see why it's a tough decision. I like the second dress a little better, but it is a lot of money to spend since you already have another really great dress. Also, I think the first dress would look really great with a tan tux, but I don't think the second dress would look bad or too formal with it either. Either way I think you will be happy with your choice since they are both great dresses. You have some time so I would take a week or two to think about it, and try both dresses on again, take pictures in both, and compare them.

I think these are the collective attitudes that I am taking towards this situation. Initially I was really upset but in the end there are lots of options. You girls have really made me feel sooo much better! Thank you soooo much!

I really like the look of the first dress. Do you have a picture of it on. I think it looks really pretty on the hanger. The second one is nice too. There are so many decisions to be made when you get married it can be overwhelming. In the end you are the one that has to be happy.

Theres a picture of me in the first dress in my first post. if you click on it you can see a larger version.

Right now I'm giving it like 3 or 4 days and I'm gonna come back to it and make my decision. I tried my first dress on again today and I think I'm leaning towards that one with maybe some crinoline underneath...idk yet

I have to be honest and say I prefer the first dress. I think it is sophisdicated and elegant!!
Don't worry about never wearing a 'princess' dress again. Indulge your fantasies and have a VR in about 10 years time like me!!!;)

I like either dress, your current one is really unique and beautiful, but I agree, that second one is lovely too :confused3

Will you be selling the first dress if you end up buying the second one? Also, will you be selling the 2nd dress after the wedding? Doing that could help you recoup and money lost on it.

You know what I'd do? I'd take your dress to the dress store that sells the new dress and see if they'd mind if you tried both on to compare.

I had the same problem when ordering my dress. I've bought it through perfectbridal.com and now have to wait for the end of November for it to come :scared1: I hope it's legit!

If I bought the second dress I'd be wearing it for the ceremony and some pictures and then switching into the first dress for the second half of the pictures and the reception/dessert party. and I'd most likely be selling the second one online afterwards. The first dress I would keep, have it shortened, and have an album cover made out of the scraps. I'd love to try them both on next to each other. I might just end up calling the store and asking if I can do that.

THe whole dress thing is going on hold for right now. If I really feel that I need a "princess dress" I can pick one up cheap later, for now I'm going to have to be OK with what I've got.

Other than that my boss is telling me the t I'm not going to be able to take the week of January 2-8 for my PS trip. He wants me to go the week of Dec 17-23. Good news: we'll probably be able to catch a MVMCP! Bad news: We will be traveling the day before Christmas Eve probably into PHL, one of the WORST airports in the country! The flights are going to b uber expensive and I hope I can find a room! ugh! we:ll deal with it with a smile!

We are going there that week for our PS too! (well the 16th-21st, we had to do a short trip cuz DF already used all his vacation time). We have never been around Christmas time so I am super excited to be going then. Flights are expensive that week though, I still haven't booked ours because I don't want to pay what their asking, I have miles, but of course they are blocked out that week! On the plus side, we ended up booking POP for $87 a night, which I thought was a pretty good deal!

Oh cool! we should totally meet up for lunch!! thats awesome that you got POP so cheap! My parents are booking us a week in their time share off property. They are super old school and traditional and aren't ok with the whole sharing a bed/room thing so I said I'm sorry, we can't afford 2 different rooms, if you want that to happen then you can pay for it. So now we have a 2 bedroom condo with a full kitchen!:rotfl:

Oh I hope your right! I might just be going through a "doubting phase" lol I started doubting other stuff the other day, like my photographer :scared1:which is crazy cause I go to their blog every day and gush and swoon over all their pictures and I really do love them. I know its crazy and I'm over that one. The girls and I have an appointment on Wednesday with the shop where I got my dress to look for bridesmaids dresses. I'm also bringing my dress along to try it with a crinoline and see if that solves my problem...I really thing I just don't like the way the dress falls in the front....that might just be it....

Hey there :)

Just joining in but I wanted to let you know that I had a ton of doubts too! When you plan ahead its only natural to have other ideas pop in your head and wonder what if i did that instead :rolleyes1

But honestly remember that you loved the dress, photographer, location etc for a reason :) That's what pulled me through. As long as you stay true to you then you should be in the clear. Half the reason i had dress doubts is because my mom and moh said one thing and i went originally with another idea in mind. But in the end I ended up choosing a dress that met both ideas in the middle.

Can't wait to read more popcorn::

We went bridesmaids dress shopping yesterday! but I was a bad bride and I didn't take any pictures :confused3 All of the girls chose different dresses which I was happy about. My MOH Chose this one http://lh3.googleusercontent.com/public/QvY2CBjQckWQAy1dknRRoXxZHP75pAM9Tn3OMOtNmcQdZp47yw Yg1DHI-g-EEnXwJ7V9nrKtMkqEYF0LLV4urIjFB1ddsPdVEB6R0y_sIfBvO 9C7Uwvjknhu4nZJ6HtViXP-RKG_IlYhqaAbNU0iMT5C6-kiA2RTBQ

My best friend from the DCP chose this onehttp://lh4.googleusercontent.com/public/hUyucYg9zHtM5d019tgEMbTlwash33yoZ3xYt_QMYFSI9Y3Rcp efpGB9272ozmV10RNa7YFblkY1YruLtuolV5vPHIYkmYcEZKvJ G0UEduneBNXkw7cnX1SDZ6oIIodH_gzr0UKIJoD2l4AvYu4Dyc nZKSvsBzx1xg

and my niece-to-be chose this one http://lh4.googleusercontent.com/public/cp5_h4oHZYw0BESpYjvNNm5JAZbmRY_JaavyA9HXvXroRXVBnL 4IM4iergPzBlf9-GQKqdykvq9zVUTnAd-R2fYaKM3fKtqG3NJlbazXHzOXce3Ys1s0tI-kLDH-uAysGYvfwMJVksUhyP5LNtBgrFtbtD-HwTCilg
and she looks soooo cute in it! she 15 and as skinny as humanly possible so they had to clip her like woah into all the dresses! it was so funny!

I'm so happy that is all done. I thinking about getting some kind of accessory in cream for them to break up all the green.

I also solved my dress dilema! I got crinoline for my dress so it pouffs a little!! Yay! I'll have to post a picture of that soon too!

In other news: I emailed the roots to see if we can do our mini engagement session while we're in Florida for our planning session. In the reply email I got hit with a brick wall. They said they are moving to Nashville at the end of October and won't be in Florida the week I'm there. They're not charging travel fees for existing or future customers because they want to keep the market that they have built in orlando and they will be down days in advance of everyone's events and they could do a mini-session around the same time as the wedding

This is heartbreaking to me. This is the one part of our PS trip I was looking forward to the most. I wanted to use the pictures to make our guest book and we're not going to be in FL any other time, or Nashville for that matter. This is my one week of vacation that I get until the wedding. What do I need more pictures of the wedding week for!? thats utterly pointless. This session is included in my package that I'm paying dearly for. I made all kinds of room in my budget just so I could have them for our wedding and now I feel like I'm being jipped! I don't know how to respond to the e-mail. I don't want to make them not like us, or be a pain in the *** for fear that our wedding will become un-important to them and the quality of our photography will suffer but at the same time I want to stand up for myself and the $4000 I'm paying! The kicker for me is I had no clue this was going on. Granted it's not exactly my business to know where they live or whatever but I couldn't get a "hey, FYI we're not going to be around before your wedding so you might want to get that mini-session in before we move" I don't know what to do:sad2:

I'm sorry this is happening, and I understand your frustration! What I would do is call them and explain what you've written above, and see what they say. You are the client and I'm sure they'll be willing to try and come up with some sort of alternative that might work, or possibly give you a reduced rate? You could then consider hiring a different photographer for the photo session so you can make you guest book like you've planned.

Sccrmnky2005

Yes, I would def. call them and see what you can resolve with them. If you can't get them to get a session in for you while your down in FL then I would ask them to refund you the money that the session would cost you. And try to find another photographer to do your e-pics while your vacationing in FL. I know there are many many in florida that will do it for you, and at a good price. I had mine done in April this year and I used David and Vicki Arndt, they have a very good repor on the boards and they usually charge $200+ taxes. They will make you feel very confortable and you will get great e-pics on your vacation. Let me know if you want more info on them. I'll try to help you out!

GOOD LUCK, I hope things work out for you!:goodvibes

I would definitely talk to the roots. We are considering them (I originally wanted them, but then found out how $$ they are, so we then booked Studio 222 but I'm having a hard time paying for them because it's only $600 less than the roots... sorry for the long story) and they have included a "mini-session" the day before the wedding in our package. I would have been beyond p*ss*d if I had paid for an engagement session and would only get a "mini-session". I wish we had time for an engagement session- we're only going to be in WDW for two days for our planning session so we don't have the time :(

I would talk to them. Studio 222 was going to charge $500 for an engagement session and they're prices seem to be comparable to the roots'.

Im so sorry to hear about that :guilty:

I have to agree with everyone else. An engagement session, which you were promised, should take place some time before the wedding I would think :confused3 I'm surprised they're not more forthcoming with the information, but I'd imagine they don't want to turn people off from booking them for Orlando area events. I would ask if you can have the engagement shoot refunded and schedule one with a different photographer. Studio 222 is charging us $350 for our engagement shoot (we're too far away from our wedding date to book a package - but this will be deducted from our package price once we do book).

BecBennett
09-09-2010, 06:55 PM
Ouch, that's not nice :sad2:

This doesn't really fix the problem, but it could be a sort of alternate you could consider. We're not doing an engagement shot, but we want the photo guest book, so what I'm doing is getting pics of DF and I that we've gotten through the years, as well as some baby pics etc. and I'm going to turn them into the guest book.

It's probably not as nice looking as some profession engagement pics, but I figure it will be fun to do, and fun for the guests to look through :confused3

Just an idea, but I really hope you're able to come to some sort of arrangement.

Ok so maybe I was a little bit vague? or came off differently than I meant to. Let me try and clarify.

It was a mini-session originally, not a full session, and it was technically complimentary. I think though, as a consumer, that when someone says "complimentary" we hear "rolled into the price"(or maybe thats me). My main problem is I was sincerely really excited for it and excited to meet them. They are not by any means ruining anything. As long as they're there for the wedding, which I'm sure they will be, it will all be fine. I'm not worried about them traveling, I know they've traveled for other stuff and they seem like the very prepared/responsible types. I don't want to put a black mark on their reputation buy any means, that was not my intent at all.

I've thought about it quite a bit, and I think I'm going to call them and try my damndest to line something up before the wedding. If worse come to worst I'll take the mini session the Friday or Saturday before the Wedding and we'll have met them and been in front of the camera before so it won't be entirely new to us. Here's hoping!

I really like the bridesmaid dresses as well as the cakes. What are your colors again? Sorry about the drama with the roots, I agree they should have informed their clients of the move. I deff. get that you want to meet them before the big day, I feel the same way. Hopefully you can figure something out. I guess you could always hire a different photographer to do the e-shoot if you could get a good price, and then do a shoot with the roots in June before the actual wedding, at least that way you could still have your e-shoot and meet the roots before the wedding day. I would ask the roots to pay for your e-shoot, or at least half of it, since they can't do it as promised. I don't think they can argue that they will do it right before the wedding... that's not really an ENGAGEMENT shoot then!

So I've got a little something to update. We got our rings forever ago, it was like the first thing we did after we got engaged. We had an awesome experience at the place where he bought my e-ring (Steven Singer for anyone who lives in the Philly area!) so we decided we wanted to go back there for our rings. I told him over and over again to look online before we go shopping for real. His attitude was like "its a circular piece of metal...I don't want any diamonds, what other decision do I have to make?" So we get down there and we look for my ring first...It was a super easy decision and I love it. Then we moved on to his ring and he found out theres gold, white gold, platinum, palladium, titanium, tungsten, rings with ridges, and round rings, and square rings, and ones that are textured and so on. So we spend 45min looking at the mens rings and all of 15min finding mine, which is fine with me cause we both walked away happy. For reference this is what his ring looks like http://lh4.googleusercontent.com/public/pzjHwd_7cxRwUapglCIG5cQEqbTjOmPkSsMsO1oBZtj57vb33O hKlBAreJdH8AzbsSXNOwtX0qDl3BZ2Qjki1MDiF3nrCCXfE0XY xDB0N1v5P-TII7KKB7ZFq06UN7fBoUqnZHFkV1spa2fjXlPB3vCrZ156Vsb0 myty702fnxFA4w
and Today he BBM's me a link to this techie/geek website that he reads all the time and writes the phrase "I want it!" after it. Of course I think its a video game or something. NOPE! for those of you who don't want to follow the link heres a picture http://cache.gawkerassets.com/assets/images/4/2010/09/500x_ringsword.jpg These rings are forged using the same process that has been used to make samurai swords for hundreds of years! It creates that wood grain pattern in the ring and they do it with all different color metals so it can be customized if you'd like. Is that totally nerdy and awesome? Yes! Is that totally him? Of course! Can we afford to buy another ring? no.

I think this is his version of the dress crisis. lol :lmao:

New News!!!

We weren't going to have a rehearsal dinner because it's not in our budget. Mom was adamant about it for a while but when she saw I didn't really care to have one she gave up. lol

We were at his parents house last night and his parents offered to pay for a rehearsal dinner! It gets better. I asked, "Should we look for a cute cheap place in celebration or do you wanna do it on Disney property?"

His dad grabbed my hand and looked me straight in the eye and said "Whatever you want"
:banana::cool1::woohoo::yay::cheer2:

He knows the magic words! So now I'm looking at places on Disney Property cause of course thats the coolest way to do it!

....The rehearsal isn't going to count towards our minimum is it?

MOH issues!

THis is a long story but I really really need advice.

My MOH is a girl I've known since I was 7 We were inseparable then over the years a lot has happened including 2 suicide attempts on her part. I've been here throughout and she has (understandably) become a different person. I honestly feel a little under appreciated compared to the other people she surrounds herself with. I would say we've grown apart a bit. we still talk and hang out and keep up but we dont really mesh as well as we once did. I initially made her MOH because it was kind of assumed, both ways and I didnt want to say "btw, your not my MOH" and start drama or hurt her, the last thing I wanted to do was hurt her, and I wouldn't abandon her for the world.

My second bridesmaid is a girl I met through the Disney College program, I lived with her for 4 months there and even though we live 1000 miles away we have managed to stay in touch. DF loves her (which can't be said for my MOH) and we bonded differently than me and my MOH. We were both adults and pretty much the people we're going to be for the rest of our lives.

The nasty side of it is my MOH is unreliable and fickle. My second bridesmaid is the exact opposite, she's loyal and understanding. On my more emotional nights I've cried about how I don't think MOH is going to be around as a friend forever and how I wish second Bridesmaid's name is the one that would be listed under witness on our marriage certificate(not that it matters in the end)

So MOH texts me tonight asking me if DF honestly likes her, that she's been trying to figure something out. so I tell her the truth. "He doesn't hate you, but your not his favorite person." and then she tells me she's not sure she should be the MOH. :sad2: second bridesmaid is happy with her position and knows I value her friendship and is not by any means trying to take over the role of MOH. after a long text conversation we have resolved to meet on friday and talk in person.

I dont know what to do, at this point in life I feel like I'm closer to second bridesmaid and she better represents me and DH as a couple, but I've known MOH forever. I don't want MOH to decide not to be MOH and then be upset all day becasue she wishes she could have been but I also don't want her to be uncomfortable as MOH.

HELP! What do I say/do!?:confused3

I think you'll just have to see how it goes when you talk to her. Your bridesmaid seems like she is fulfilling all the MOH duties anyway. Is it really important to her that you identify her as the MOH instead? Or does she not really care and would doing these things regardless of everyone at the wedding knowing she's the MOH? When it comes down to it, MOH is just a name.

Maybe I'm not treating the MOH title as important as other people. I only have 2 girls in my wedding and having the title of MOH or bridesmaid isn't the most important thing to them.

I'm not sure I have any advice to offer, to be honest.

I'm not sure what kind of a mental health state your MOH is in now, but when you're having mental health issues, it's REALLY hard to see beyond yourself. And I don't mean this in a "oh, depressed and suicidal people are SO selfish" at ALL. I just mean that when you can't figure yourself or your life out, it's hard to see beyond anything. I have a friend like your MOH. I cherish her for who she is, and we've been friends the longest...but she's not standing with me (or even coming to the wedding actually).

In the end, it's your wedding. And you have a right to be honest with her about how your DF feels about her, since she asked outright. No point in lying. My DF feels the same about my friend, and sometimes she's like "well I wonder what he thinks of me since he doesn't like so and so and so and so". But she's never ASKED outright, so I don't bite.

Good luck, whatever happens. It's your day, and if you think she's going to take from it, then you have the right to leave her out. Expect her to take it VERY personally. There's no easy way out of this one...

I agree with this... if your BM is going to basically do everything a typical "MOH' would do, then your lucky to have a great bridesmaid, and maybe you should just leave the titles as is, but let MOH know that you understand if she cannot full fill all the "typical" MOH duties. Or, I don't know how you would feel about this, maybe you could just make them both MOH (Is one of them married? In that case, even better, one Maid of Honor, and one Matron of honor) I know some people don't like the idea of having two, but I have been to plenty of weddings where there were two MOH or Best men (actually my sister had two MOH, I was one of them, and it didn't bother me at all that she had two, and DF is having two best men) so that is something to consider. Ultimately you need to choose whatever will make you the least stressed out in the end!

Thank you girls for your very practical take on things.

I talked to her on friday. Basically she expressed that she doesn't think she should be MOH to a couple when the husband-to-be doesn't like her. after a long conversation and a lot of understanding I decided that there will be no maid of honor. I jut have 3 bridesmaids...and it works out. I don't expect much of my third bridesmaid as far as duties, shes 14 and his neice, shes thrilled just to be included. Other wise one bridesmaid lives here the other lives in FL so they can share the separate duties that they can attend to at their locations.

I contemplated making the other girl MOH but I feel like it would be pouring salt in a would (that I didn't even make, mind you) so I just left it as is. I'm just glad the decision is done and over with

Ok, Drama aside and done with. I need to make a to do list. I function much better with lists because I feel good when I can check something off. However I really am having trouble compiling a list. I feel like I don't know what I'm doing. SO help a bride out. :rotfl:

This is what I've done so far:
Book Photographer
Book outside florist for personal florals/possibly centerpieces
Book hair/make up
Book the church
Buy dress
Book Photo shoot for his gift
Suits for the guys
dresses for the girls

Things left to do:
Buy shoes
buy undergarments
alterations
get menu pricing
gather dessert party menu ideas
dessert party menu pricing
Pricing for centerpieces from disney
suits for dads
dresses for moms
favors/and or welcome bags
rehearsal dinner

Whew! thats all I can think of right now but I feel like theres so much else I need to do that I'm not remembering.

Also where can I have a rehearsal dinner for like 15ish people? I think thats my biggest task right now. And honestly I never talk to my planner so shes not to much help....I feel like I'm bothering her when I e-mail her because she never initiates contact....How often does everyone else talk to their planners?

DVC Bride 2011

Michelle is my planner too and I don't talk to her much but I honestly thinks it's because our weddings are still 7-7.5 months away. There's not much to talk about until the planning session and most people on the boards say they didn't have much contact with their planners until the wedding date got closer. I wouldn't sweat it. :thumbsup2 If you have a question though, like your rehearsal dinner one, it won't hurt to email her just for some ideas, or post on the main wedding board. We were thinking of using the Key West room at the GF - it fits about 20 people I think. Or you could make reservations through a restaurant on property.

So Tuesday I have a phone meeting with Michelle to talk about Rehearsal/welcome dinner possibilities. My in-laws-to-be finally gave me a number to work with which takes a load off my mind! I'm also in the process of writing the invitation wording and looking for design software to design and print them.

For the Invitations I'd like to include all the extra information people will need like trasnportation, what to wear, and...I seem to be blanking on everything else. Any ideas? software wise or topics for the invitations?

Michelle is my planner too, I always initiate contact and find this normal.

You wouldn't be bothering her with your questions, that's what she's there for, if you're worried she's too busy to answer your questions, email them through anyway, and she'll reply when she can.

I can't really help with the check list. I know I've got a massive one that I'm steadily making my way through, but I know there are heaps of things that need to be added to it, but I can never remember what they are! They usually come to me when I'm driving or in the shower :confused3

So I spoke to Michelle about the rehearsal/welcome dinner and I've narrowed it down to Shipwreck Beach, Tamu Tamu courtyard, or the Rix Lounge. I think Tamu Tamu is out because their f&B min is $2500, which is a bit much. And I think I'm leaning towards Shipwreck beach.

Other than that I've realized that our PS in in 5 weeks and I am wildly un-prepared. I'm trying to have a mockup of our invitations done by then. and I still have to fill out all of our paperwork for the PS and the tasting session and i have to get on it with the DJ lists, and the cake pictures...oh man I knew there was stuff I should have been doing this whole time!:scared1:

I think shipwreck beach sounds like a great place to do the welcome dinner! I would probably choose there out of the choices. As far as the shoes I like the 2nd and 3rd pair a lot, I think either of those would look good. The green ones would be nice. I kind of like when brides wear bright colored shoes with their wedding gown.

I think I'm going to go with shipwreck beach...The whole wedding is turning out to be a lot more ocean-y than I had originally planned but in a good way! I'm using compass's in the design of the invites and things...we're shifting towards nautical here pirate: as for the green shoes, I'm really tempted by them...i might just have to order them and see what they look like with the dress

I think the 3rd pair is my back up. They're a little vintage-y, classy, wedding-y lol

So heres the PS TR! or the beginning anyway!:thumbsup2

We arrived Friday and it was a beautiful 70degrees when we hit the tarmac. we pretty much spent the rest of the day food shopping and settling in because we were staying at a Marriott off property. annnnd I forgot my camera so I have no pictures of this day.

Eric's mom fortunately overnighted my camera but I didn't get it saturday night until we went back to the hotel for dinner. So the only pictures I have from saturday is the of the Main Street Electrical Parade!http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v31/angelicme13/wedding/100_2334.jpghttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v31/angelicme13/wedding/100_2342.jpg[/IMG[IMG]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v31/angelicme13/wedding/100_2335.jpg

Sunday we went to church in the Church that the ceremony will be in. It was a beautiful Church and I'm excited! I wanted to do a thing where you present flowers to the statue of Mary but there was none. I walked up to a alcove near the altar and there was a picture of carved, unfinished statue so I took that as a "coming soon" kind of thing. but again I have no pictures:sad2:

After Church was my hair and makeup trial. Patricia had a little trouble finding the hotel but she got there eventually. I told her I wanted something vintage-y and I showed her 2 pictures of Scar-Jo from Black Daliah as just an idea but pretty much left her to her own creativity. I showed her what I normally wear makeup wise and she sprung off that. This is what I ended up with!http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v31/angelicme13/wedding/100_2354.jpghttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v31/angelicme13/wedding/100_2352.jpghttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v31/angelicme13/wedding/100_2351.jpg I'm very happy with it!:woohoo::yay::woohoo:

After that Eric and I hit Studios and ran around there a little bit, We saw Fantasmic and decided then and there that we would do the bridal party introductions and our entrance to the beginning up-beat music of Fantasmic! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v31/angelicme13/wedding/100_2355.jpghttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v31/angelicme13/wedding/100_2357_1.jpg

Monday was PS day and I kept my hair for it!. I just took out the bobby pins and let the curls do their thing!
Obligator Franck's pic
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v31/angelicme13/wedding/100_2372-1.jpg
We ran through the wedding step by step. For transportation We got a limo that will take the boys, loop back for the girls, and my parents and I ride in Rolls. Eric and I get the Rolls on our way back. Our parents get the limo along with my brother and his niece, The rest of the bridal party rides the motorcoach with the guests. I really wanted the model A but Eric insisted on air conditioning nad now looking at the BEO $900 for a car is a bit much so we might not even keep it.
We decided on a Welcome party at Shipwreck Beach! I'm super excited for that. We have the chip and dale menu for that and these will be the linens for thathttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v31/angelicme13/wedding/100_2365-1.jpg
Then we moved on to the decor for the reception. I toyed with the idea of 2 layer linens until I found out the pricehttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v31/angelicme13/wedding/100_2364-1.jpg I was going to so the lighter green line with the Champagne pixie dust over lay but it ended up being like $50/table. So we settled on thishttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v31/angelicme13/wedding/100_2363-1.jpg The ivory with gold diamonds is going to be the table cloth the plain ivory is the chair cover and the green satin is the napkin and chair sash.
We discussed Mickey& Minnie as well. I said it would be cool but its out of the budget. She asked me if I wanted to put it on the beo just to see, I said yes and Dad jumped in and said "keep it, I got it" I was shocked but thrilled...I'm not counting on it though cause he's gotta get that one past mom and that's not going to be easy

And of course we did the cake tasting
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v31/angelicme13/wedding/100_2361-1.jpg we setteled on :yay:Almond/Amaretto:banana: for the top and bottom layers and the middle layer will be Marble/Chocolate!
We discussed the feel that I was going for for centerpieces and she said she would do research. I just got that proposal today. I'll talk about those later.
So we wandered resorts until our tasting at the beach club. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v31/angelicme13/wedding/100_2377-1.jpghttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v31/angelicme13/wedding/100_2374-1.jpghttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v31/angelicme13/wedding/100_2395-1.jpg[/IMG[IMG]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v31/angelicme13/wedding/100_2408-1.jpg We found all the hidden mickeys on the chocolate carousel in the beach club lobby. :woohoo: lolhttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v31/angelicme13/wedding/100_2410-1.jpg My favorite picture of me from the trip lol. Pre reception food; Bacon Wrapped Beef & Blues! LOVE THEM and spring rolls
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v31/angelicme13/wedding/100_2425-1.jpg
We're also having bruschetta but we didn't decide that until we Talked to Chef Carlos. Who by the way, is awesome! I can't explain how relieved I am to have met the person cooking my food that day. Being in the restaurant industry and just a general foodie, the food was very very important to me. I think I would trust him to make awesome food even if he didn't make anything we tasted that day. That's how awesome it all was!

Ok back to food...
Lamb and sauteed baby zucchini and yukon gold mashed potatoes...we decided to have a potato bar ! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v31/angelicme13/wedding/100_2426-1.jpg SOOO GOOOD. and this is about the point where the food over took my brain and I forgot to take picture of the food before I ate it so all of the following pictures are an after thought. lolhttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v31/angelicme13/wedding/100_2429-1.jpgISland spiced Mahi mahi with a vanilla bean citrus beurre blanc and grilled baby veggies.

and the warm Banana torte with Rum glaze. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v31/angelicme13/wedding/100_2428-1.jpgAbsolutely AMAZING, Literally numbed my mouth! we added this for dessert at the welcome party!

The rest of the trip was pretty general. We did see Captain EO (Eric's first time)! and did all the walking treks at AK, which we never really did before but loved. And the only other thing of note was that we ate at La hacienda.http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v31/angelicme13/wedding/100_2518.jpgcan I use the word amazing again? cause it was! especially this: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v31/angelicme13/wedding/100_2493.jpg

I love them! They're the perfect hight next to his wedding shoes so I'm not too tall, but they are just a tad high for the dress...I'll deal with it!

I'm also having a little bit of family drama. My aunt(one of my dads 3 siblings) called my parents and asked if my cousin's BF was invited. Um, it clearly states that "4 seats are being reserved in your honor!" thats aunt, uncle, and 2 cousins, no boyfriend (who has a small child that I'm assuming would need to come as well) I think I've met this guy all of 3 times in the time that she has been with him. Anyway my parents say: sorry, we can't answer that, Larisa has to answer it but we do know that she was struggling to find space to allow the bridal party to bring a date, ect. ect. So my aunt asked for my number to talk to me. She never called. she sent back the RSVP: only 2 people are coming. My cousins are coming to the ceremony and not the reception. Really? Your going to drag yourself all the way to FL to come to the ceremony and then just not go to the reception cause your BF wasn't invited? and my other cousin is just NOT coming for no reason. WTH? I'm not even upset anymore, I just don't understand it. ugh

Other than that I'm looking at jewlryhttp://ny-image0.etsy.com/il_570xN.195631080.jpghttp://ny-image0.etsy.com/il_570xN.182767404.jpghttp://ny-image3.etsy.com/il_570xN.151056783.jpg

Thanks everyone for all the congratulations. Sorry for not updating, There has been a lot going on. We were house hunting for a long while and finally found a house we like in our price range. We really had our hearts set on this house and even brought our parents and 2 different contactors to the house to get estimates on things that needed to be repaired (it's 76 years old). We had picked out paint and talked about where our furniture would fit and then I received an email from our realtor that another offer had been put in on the house. We quickly put an offer together and when she went to submit it she was told that the other offer was already accepted. Needless to say we were absolutely heartbroken :sad1: Exhausted from the search we decided to evaluate what we really wanted. and that was to move to FL. We Decided to get a short term lease for now and buy a condo, probably in Celebration, at the end of the year. That should give us enough time to find jobs and stuff before we move.

In other news, I recently received an extremely generous offer! Mary of Key Moments Productions emailed Carly after reading my feature on the blog and said that she was free on my wedding date and that if I didn't already have a videographer she would like to do my wedding free of charge!
Initially I had not made room in my budget for a videographer and I recently decided that I wanted one, if only just to show the video at the home reception. The problem now came with trying to squeeze a videographer into the little bit of budget I had left. Then Mary came along! She thinks that my experience will be a great way to show other brides exactly what a videographer can do for your day and help other brides not make the mistake I almost did!

I'm excited to share my experience with her and to have a wedding video!

lol Well I tend to be a procrastinator and this of all things I don't want to be doing the night before so I'm getting everything done super early!

Moving is definitely the bright side. I was going to wait to transfer but the way my company works I think the higher paid I am the more difficult it would be to transfer. As for the video: that's exactly what I did. I'm so lucky she came around. lol

In other news: I think my outside florist might be ditzing out on me. She's been flaking on phone calls and not answering emails...I'm thinking about moving all my floral to Disney. :confused3

Thanks guys!

Well there's good news and bad news. We found the shirts and ties! Itwas actually my fault! I was in charge of them when we got the suits tailored at mens warehouse and I left them on the table! However we now can't find eric's birth certificate! So now someone has to spend all day in the city getting a new one!

Other than that everything else is done (i even bought a dress for victoria and alberts!)and we just have to pack!

Natalie, we should get together when we come back! I wish you could be there! I know you would truly appreciate the "Disney" of it all

SO here we are 12:14am Thursday and we are leaving for the airport in approximately 4 hours and 15 minutes. I, the ultimate procrastinator of a bride has just finished packing her carry on. Everything has worked out! We found the shirts and ties, bought new shoes, got Eric's birth certificate and its smooth sailing from here on out!

My mom, who does not fly, left for Virginia early this morning to take the auto-train (nifty little thing where they load your car in a freight car and you ride to Florida in a passenger car). She'll arrive in Orlando about the same time as us! I'm so excited to be going to Disney, let alone be married there! I can't wait!:woohoo::banana::yay::cloud9::cheer2:

so I just typed out all of day 1 and disboards ate it.

Long story short Cheap tickets screwed up our flight tickets and denied it was their problem. I yelled and no one fixed anything!
We checked in at board walk and all of our families got "I'm Celebrating" buttons with "new mother-in-law" or some other appropriate phrase written on it. We went to Bed bath and beyond to buy a steamer for the girls dresses
Eric and I went to dinner at 50's Prime time with a friend of mine from CP and checked out the Star Wars weekend activities.

Day 2 later.
