A CM just informed me that the Osborne lights are being moved to Magic Kingdom this year and will not be at DHS -----could this be true? I was booking a Fantasmic package and inquired about the time that they turn the lights on and this is what she said. Have I missed this info. somewhere?

I wonder where on earth they'd put them? I hope not on Main Street. It would really take away from the beauty of the castle that time of year. I'm interested to hear if anyone has heard anything. :surfweb:

The CM's you talk to on the phone are terrible about giving out completely untrue information. There is no way this would happen. I wouldn't give it a second thought. Many seem to know very little about Disney.
For some reassurance-the Disney website already has information on the Lights being at DHS for Winter 2010.

I HIGHLY doubt this. They have a lot of permanent fixtures in place at DHS because they begin setting it up in August. The possibility of them moving it is very low. It'd take away the jump in park attendance at DHS and flood it into an already packed MK. No way that is going to happen!

I agree, I can not see them fitting into any of the themed worlds at WDW. Hollywood Studios makes the most sense out of all the parks

Last year, we had a chat with an electrician, who puts up the lights, and he said the lights would be up at DHS for 1 more year. Then, the "contract" would be up with Osborns, so he didn't know what would happen with them after that.

It sounded crazy to me but then she went on to say something about them moving it because of the new Star Wars thing they were doing at DHS ....I have not been "up" on Disney in a couple of years so didn't know enough to question her on it...but she sounded like she knew what she was talking about--I hope not!

I would not worry, I once had a CM ask me which castle in MK I wanted to eat at?:confused3 Even after I pointed out there was only 1 castle in MK, she "insisted" her system told her there were more.:lmao::lmao:

Disney bought everything from the Osborne family. No contract, they own it. They've done all of their own lighting, converted to LEDs. If anything would happen based on any kind of permission or contract, then they would probably not have the original angels, or globe - that kind of stuff. So then they'd just replace it with something else!
If you watched the Behind the Scenes this past year, you saw a lot of info on the Osborne lights. I think it's permanent - or until they change their mind.

Sounds like they may have gotten the Lights confused with Night Of Joy, which moved back to MK from DHS this year

I tend to think this seems unlikely. However, it could be true. Who knows?

DOUBTFUL..That would mean on Party nights no one would see them but party guests and getting people out of the MK at 7pm for the party guests would be a NIGHTMARE

Maybe they will cover the castle with the dancing lights, or maybe Frontierland. :teeth:

Actually, if you think about this, it's not as crazy as it sounds. Imagine yourself as a call center employee. Disney is your job, you aren't really interested in it as a destination, so you haven't spent much time at the park. Dining choices:
Cinderella's Royal Table in the Castle, which you wanted
Crystal *Palace*
Sounds like there could be two castles in the MK, doesn't it

When they first installed the Castle Dream lights there was talk of slowly adding additional lights all the way down MS to the train station. I could see them covering MS with the Osborne lights.

When Did this happen because under the original deal in 1995 Disney did not purchase them.

Really? Wow! We've only gone in November once (in 2007.) We got there the Tuesday before Thanksgiving and I could've sworn that the OL didn't start until Friday or Saturday after :confused3 Sorry for giving mis-information. Thanks for the correction :thumbsup2

Hmmm someone wasn't paying attention during her training...

To an outsider maybe, but if Disney is your job you'd better know the difference between Crystal Palace and Cinderella's Castle.
