Character swap - progress thread!! CLOSED & COMPLETE

The due date is September 10.

Newbies are welcome. If you haven't swapped with us on this board before, then I will limit you to 2 groups.

There are 3 different types of groups listed:
-- The first set of groups are for regular elements (2 elements required)
-- The second set of groups are for 4-inch altered letters
-- The third set of groups are for 2-inch letters to spell a character's name

DISCLAIMER: Some of the groups may have a character in there that just doesn't fit. Like in the Pooh & Friends group, I have Daisy Duck. I know that Daisy Duck isn't a Pooh character, but I wanted to keep the element groups at 5 and I couldn't think of another Pooh character that you actually see at the park. I can always change it, but I didn't have a spot for Daisy so I stuck her there. This happens in a couple of groups where there's an odd one.

Due Date: September 10, 2010. This is when I need to receive your package. The mail by date is September 3 to make sure the package arrives to me on time.

I will pm you with a reminder if you forget to check in. After 48 hours with no response I will request angels for your spots. If you are going on vacation or will be out of town, please check in early. Please do not sign up for more than you can handle. If you need an angel, please ask for one as soon as possible.

This is an element only swap. The requirements are:

Group A through Group O will be to make 2 elements from the list below.

Element list:
Title = standard 8x2 topper (other sizes are okay), welded and shadowed letters, letters on squares, circles,mini tags or other shapes, a large title tag, title on a box, borders, photo mat, altered CD.
1 paper piecing (not a single layer diecut)
2 photomats for a 4x6 photo, 2 layers, smallest layer 4 ¼ x 6 ¼, embellished
2 journal boxes, total of 3 layers, minimum writing space 3x3, embellished
2 tags (or 1 large tag—greater than 2x3), 2 layers, something in the hole and embellished
1 file folder or matchbook (2 if mini) - -embellished
2 slide mounts -- embellished
Altered CD
3 altered paper clips
1 shaker box
1 library pocket and tag. Tag must be 2 layers with something in the hole, pocket must be embellished
1 license plate
3 shapes(squares, circles, stars, flowers etc) 2 layers, embellished
1 ATC
4 inchies
Signage/Bookmark: 1PP 2x6, double matted and embellished
Song/Lyric/Poem: 1PP, 3 layers in total and embellished. Min size 3x4, shapes are welcome
Altered letter: matted at least 4 inches
1 Border - 12x2 inches and able to be cut down to 11 inches in length - 2 layers and embellished.

You can mix and match -- 1 tag and box, 1 photomat and box, 1 tag and 2 squares or shapes, etc.

******Please let me know if you have an idea not listed! We are open to new things.

Suggestions for embellishments include:
Die cuts, stickers, stickles, flock, ink, chalk, brads, charms, flowers, eyelets, ribbon/fiber, sewing, tearing, embossing, stamping, clipart, additional layers of paper beyond double mats (if it would look weird trying to fit in another embellishment, specialty paper (such as embossed, glitter, Bling).

Groups 1-6 Make a 4 inch letter, matted, and embellished at least once. You may use patterned and solid colored paper. Please be creative. You are making the first letter of the word only. An example is: You are in Group 1 and chose Tigger. You will make a 4 inch T and when everyone gets it back they can add "igger" to it anyway they want or just use the "T" on their page to represent Tigger.

Groups 7-20 Make your letter(s) 2 inches, matted, and embellished at least once. Your top letter is cut at 2 inches and the mat can be the shadow. You may use patterned and solid colored paper. Please be creative and use colors that represent the character.

Packaging: Place your completed elements in a Ziploc bag THAT FITS YOUR ELEMENTS (the bag MUST close) with your DISname, name and group letter. Do not address your items to a particular swapper. (That makes it harder for me to sort!) Your label should look like this

For Groups A-O: Take all of your baggies for a group and place them in GALLON size (or larger) bag, and label with the same. Please use the gallon bag (or larger) -- your items may fit in a smaller bag, but the items you receive back might not.

For Groups 1-6: Please put each letter in a bag that will fit your letter and then put all those baggies for that group into a QUART or GALLON size bag.

For Groups 7-20: You may bag each letter individually or you may put all of 1 letter together in a bag Example: You are in Group 7 and are making an M and an I. Put all the M's in one bag and all the I's in another bag and then put those 2 bags into a quart size bag. PLEASE NOTE: If you have any loose pieces with your letters then you MUST put each individual letter (and the loose pieces) in it's own bag.

Mailing:
* You may send to me, by any method you choose unless you are mailing after August 17 [note this is before the mail by date]. Then, you must mail Priority WITH Delivery Confirmation.
* I prefer to send to you using flat rate boxes/envelopes. Please include enough postage in your package for return shipping. The rates are: Envelope or Small Box (9”x6”x2”) - $4.95, Medium/Standard box – $10.70, Large - $14.50.
* If you want your items shipped to you with DC, please include the $.70, and a filled out slip. I will not mail the items back with delivery confirmation unless you include the $.70 and the filled out DC form.
* Please include a label (can be the priority label completed with your info or a small address label) for me to use to return your items to you.
* DO NOT include clik-it/ship-it postage. I will not be able to use it since it is only good on the day it was printed, and from the location it was printed.

I won't be able to do this swap and it's killing me. I will be in WDW the first two weeks of August and my kiddos go back on the 17th. I don't know what my schedule will be like for them this year.

So if everyone just wants to make an extra set and donate it to me, :rotfl2: okay, never mind, I can't come up with a good joke like for this one. I know this will be an excellent swap and look forward to scrap lifting from it.

If you are in a group where you are making more than one letter (like M & I for Mickey) then I'd like the M's to be together in one bag, the I's together in 1 bag, and then both those bags in a larger bag. I just think it'll make it quicker for me to sort that way without having to untangle and sort them into piles and count before sorting into the swappers' piles.

Ive used quite a few of your pieces this past year working on some DL albums!
For the best example go to the gallery and look at this years past Disneyland swap and it will give perfect examples of 2 inch altered letters.
Cricut, yes, pattern paper, yes. purchase letters, not necessary.

Hi Maria! It's good to see you!!!!!

For any of the altered letters, we've been using letters cut from the Cricut. You'd use 4-inch or 2-inch to cut your top layer and then the shadow will, of course, be a bit bigger. You can use patterned paper and/or solid cardstock.

Rita's, suggestion to look at the Disneyland swap is a good one. You can also look at the current Hollywood Studios swap (there's a slideshow in the first post) or the Animal Kingdom one (there's no slideshow yet, but there are great photos of both types of letters posted throughout).

Here are a couple of photos to give you an idea:
This is a 2-inch E for the word Everest in Animal Kingdom. Others are making the rest of the letters and then it'll spell "Everest."

Yeah...that's fine. She said if the 2" letters were not available she would take any. It was the element groups and 4" letters that she wanted certain ones. I got most of them. There were two that she wants to go into a sub-group for if it opens. In fact, one of them, I am thinking I'd also like to go into a sub-group for...it's group 6. She wants W for Woody and I'd like B for Buzz. So, if it opens (even if it's just for the two of us), that is where we would both like to be. Thanks! I'm still back-tracking to see what I need to change.

I've added you to Group O.

On the letters, they can be upper case or lower case. Most of the ones I've seen are uppercase, but it's not a requirement.

Okay everyone, I've combined some of the groups so that we have fewer open spots.

For elements, I combined:
Group F2 in with Group A2
Group B2 is combined with Group N
Group C3 is combined with Group I
Group L has been split into Groups K and M

For 4-inch letters, I combined:
Group 1b is combined with Group 6b
Group 2b has been split with Groups 3 and 4

I tried not to combine groups where you'd receive duplicate pieces, but there may be some of that happening with 1 character in a group. If you don't like what I've combined, please let me know now.

Lovemy3kiddos, you are in most every group so you may be receiving quite a few duplicates. If you wish to change/delete any of your groups, please let me know.

I didn't know the Power Rangers were leaving. Is there any character in particular that you'd like to do? I'm trying to think of characters we haven't done and my brain isn't working! PS. - I did see that Power Rangers were "sold" back (to the Japanese company, do you think?). I was so upset because they are DS's favorites. He's had an obsession with them since age 3. I loved being able to find Power Ranger stuff through Disney.
